History: In the wake of the Samseong take-over, there had been some anticipation over whether or not the old and beloved Millerman Shepard Stadium would be demolished and replaced with some snazzy new stadium that would put Solidarity to shame (not quite literally...). And while many of these rumors were quaffed, there was still the expectation of getting a brand new stadium to out-do all others in the Candelarias (until it would be inevitably outdone itself). And so the quest for TSS was born, in wake of two great international successes (GC5 and TQCC12), the BFA finally made the decision to build a new stadium.

And then they waited.

After some Albrechters complained about the lack of response, Samseong contacted ShinyStadiums in Kura-Pelland. And then they waited again. After Samseong grew tired of waiting, they thought to themselves that they themselves have their own wonderful stadium-building architects and engineers (after all, they built like half of the ones in the IFL), so after some good wishes and good riddances, Samseong turned to their little pet Samseong Construction to build up a spiffy new stadium for the Samseong Board of Football Affairs... or rather Albrecht FC.

And then they waited.

It so happened that around that time, some random terrorists blew up a nuclear device over the capital and sent a paralyzing EMP shock throughout the heart of the city, whilst spilling nuclear waste over the area. While the Han suffered for two years (the place has since been scrubbed for residual radioactivity - mind you, the blast was designed for an EMP shock, not lethal radiation), people in Songstress stared at a misshapen piece of steel and concrete, as if some freakishly insane avant-garde artist spilled his brains all over the quaint little suburb of Albrecht. You take your pick of which was worse to endure, not to mention they were forced to gaze upon this monstrosity for two-three years while heading to their old beloved MSS to watch the Scorpions sink down to 7th place (%$#&JETKU%*#!!!).

But no more.[float=right]Image

Tristar Songstress Stadium is the epitome of modern architecture for all of the Candelarias, especially in the field of football stadia. While it's seldom hard to screw up the pitch itself (after all, it's grass), Samseong has cooperated with biological conglomerate Dusan to create a biosynthetic turf that is more resistant to the wear and tear typically accustomed to a football pitch. This means less time and energy required to maintain the turf. Moreover, the grass is well prepared for eventual drainage problems (rain), icing (ice), and occasionally random feathered fiends (birds). Now, there's always the possibility that this grass turf will pick itself and walk away, but Samseong and Dusan have assured us that the chances of that happening in a million years is one in 1,427,186,233,201.

The stadium also boasts world-class seating that accommodates the user of the stadium, particularly with the spiffy seat covers. While most stadia have seat covers that are monochromatic (one color), TSS utilizes new pigments that are polychromatic (get a dictionary, Holmes). In the control panel, there's a lovely little box that says Seat Cover (guess what that does?). If one leaves the setting at "AFC", the seats stay a nice rosy dark red (not that the dark red is really a rosy color, or whatever). However, change the setting to "C&M", then the box sends an electric impulse to change the seat color almost instantaneously to a nice azure blue. Neat, eh? And maintenance is relatively easy too, as the seats are coated with a thick anti-random-fans-sitting-jumping-on-the-chair-during-exciting-matches-and-fixtures coat of polyurethane, designed primarily to protect the polychromatic pigment. As long as it stays maintained, the seats can have a long life-expectancy. But what about the electric impulse? If it fails, we will know immediately, since the pigment's natural color is a bright white color - any problems tend to stick out of the crowd, permitting easy repairs.

And just in case you thought that Samseong didn't care, they even brought in the grand ole LENPY stand, still on the west side (although it's now a double-tier section, simply because we couldn't fit all of the letters on one level... all the more merrier until someone decides to ignore the railing and fall to their presumably certain death on the fans on the ground level). In fact, the stadium's general design was built around balance, such that no two sections would blatantly contrast with one another. The octagonal section also highlights the eight sections of feng-shui (pung-su), such that the stadium's main entrance is built into the east-stand (to welcome the rising sun - although it serves a more practical purpose of avoiding getting the sun in the eyes of the more vociferous fans during sunset). The stadium is built upon three tiers, with their own local assortment of amenities (bathrooms, food, and even a local pub on the third level); and the reason for the lack of a fourth tier? Because they ran out of room (although why they ran out of room is debatable as well).[float=right]Image

[/float]

Back to the level of providing local amenities, the stadium ground level boasts a modest commercial district, filled with random offices, stores, and boutiques to solve any quibble about what to get when visiting the TSS. There is a food court, a mini-mall, an official Albrecht FC fan store, and rooms galore filled with clothes, memorabilia, office supplies, and construction material. Basically, when Albrecht FC isn't playing a match, the club can still have tourists come by and spend their whole day at the stadium. And the best thing is that all major proceeds (anything not belonging to the individual vendors) goes directly to the club's finances - not Samseong (Samseong isn't even a retailer!).

And there are many other amenities inside the stadium that could draw fans away from the match (when it's looking a bit down), but the stadium includes a wonderful park. Songstress Park is perhaps the biggest (although we're not saying that for sure) park in the Albrecht area, with many square kilometers surrounding serene floral (i.e. plants, not flowers) communities. The impression is to establish a natural community with which Albrechters can peaceably and safely interact. There are roughly 17.59 kilometers of walking paths, running routes, and other random excursions one could make. And for the family, there is a swimming pool, a little recreation area with swing-sets, and a kiddie football pitch. And of course, there is the community football pitches, three in all. Groups and individuals wishing to reserve these facilities must contact the AFC Directory of Publicity - Public Facilities Office. And you wonder with all of these spectacles, how does Samseong make any profit? Hehe...

Well, enough about the stadium; it's time for the result.

What result?

Well, you wouldn't expect for us to make this long little report about a brand new spiffy (we have got to find a new word for that) stadium in a thread designed for domestic soccer newswires, even through this isn't our domestic, and it isn't even a domestic result. Indeed, when Samseong got done finishing this stadium, they decided to celebrate in the best possible manner that they could. They got Albrecht FC a play-mate![float=right]Image
random bald-headed man sitting in the player's box; oh, wait, there's two of 'em...
[/float]

Coming all of the way from Cafundéu, Cafundó do Juta comes with perhaps the highest distinction of honor among clubs from the football-tax-crazy country. Indeed, they're quite renowned for being the perennial second-place finishers in almost any competition (especially the Primeirona). And perhaps it was with that tradition in mind that the BFA arranged this inaugural friendly for Albrecht FC to celebrate.

Opening day was practically sold out as people filled the stands from the ground up to the sky. And as the sun had already fallen, there was no worry about the sun's glare - only the random shit that would be falling from the stands as people tested gravity (maybe we should build in some nets...). Who filled the stands, no one quite knows for certain. For certain a great number were the die-hard fans who would sooner commit suicide than to swear against their beloved (or perhaps magnanimous) club; but the greater majority of the fans seemed to be those random Turkish people who were willing to swallow in a bit of pride to help the visiting Cafundelense fans cheer on. And in the VIP boxes were seated those random Samseong executives, along with some of the local mayoral office in Albrecht (I believe President Morton was busily dealing with other problems... so no show for her - unless those Candelariasian agents managed to stick in a life-like dummy of her in the stands, no doubt voiced by the smallest non-unreal but not-quite-natural biological creature that they could find to voice for her (and it sang all freaking night! (good grief, there parenthetical statements really build on themselves))). Anyhow, it was quite the festive atmosphere as the players took the field for the first time.

And great news! No one died stepping onto the pitch! After all, we'd mentioned that there was considerable fear that the pitch would step up and walk away once trampled by some 23 pairs of shoes (25 if you include those chaps who run on the fancy white lines on the edge). And just for this occasion, we'd brought in a Sargossan referee to officiate the match; simply because we didn't think that Sargossans had any emotional attachment to either club.[float=right]Image
ooh, how quaint! there's a little mouse-shaped pattern in the field!...
[/float]

With little else to celebrate, the match began and almost immediately, Albrecht found themselves on the defensive. The pressing attack style by the visitors left the home side a bit uncomfortable for long stretches of the match. But after leaving the possession game to Cafundó, AFC found some time to break down the short, neat passing game of their visitors and starting making some challenges with the ball. It was left to William, St. Louis, and Go to round up the defense, while Nakatsuru took up his spot as the leading attacking midfielder, ably assisted by the young Kouakou Kouamé and Fahmi Hamizi. And it was this combination that helped Torreabla's tots go out and win the CMSC this past season, and it proved deadly for the visitors, who stumbled on a free kick opportunity to hand the initiative to Sarzonian George Morrison. Pouncing on the ball, he found his way into the box and placed his header just perfectly into the top corner, beyond Montes's reach. Two minutes later, Hamizi seemed to put the result beyond all doubt. However, Veiga proved his resilience by pressuring his players to get their heads into the game - to get the ball and practice good attacking possession. And with enough patience and discipline, Luisinho helped reduce the deficit just before the break with a well-placed shot that Rosalia failed the parry.

Both Torrealba and Veiga were aware of the "friendly" nature of the match, however, and they took the opportunity after the break to bring on some of their lesser-known players; practically for in-field practice and to give the star players some time to recuperate for more off-season training. After all, both clubs had their early exits from the UICA competitions, so having this match was not simply a luxury of time but a matter of preparation. For Samseong, it was a win-win-win-lose (they have to pay those SLANI taxes, y'know), as the match brought out some of the brightest stars in the world onto one pitch. And so the second half began with two great teams, having a great time out on the field. And though Albrecht FC would go on to cruise to a 4-2 victory, nothing really could dampen the celebratory nature of this occasion.[float=right]Image
you're probably tired of looking at these pics...
[/float]

In the end, everyone was a winner (except those dejected Turkish fans who wasted two hours of their evening watching their hated rivals win a friendly contest). And with the close of the match, the stadium announcers gave a brief eulogy, to thank the old stadium for the many memories, the many triumphs held therein, the many tragedies it witnessed, the many events that changed its times, and that though they would never quite forget the legacy of the Millerman Shepard Stadium, they would always keep a special place in their hearts just in case. Indeed, there were a few tearful persons on the field, players new and ancient standing. For some, they lived and died in that stadium; for others, it was a nurturing (well, as nurturing as a footie stadium can be...) environment where they had breakthroughs and experiences that molded for a lifetime. For all, it was Millerman Shepard Stadium. It still stands there today.

But now, there is also Tristar Songstress Stadium, and no doubt it will not take long for this new stadium to take its rightful place into the hierarchy of great stadia in Candelaria And Marquez. And at this point, there really is only one thing to say...

TAKE THAT TURKISH!

Indeed.

ooc: match was scorinated using latest (but not yet published UICA coefficients on NSFS; tabulated by Daehanjeiguk, scorinated by Vephrall - thanks to both Cafundeu and Candelaria And Marquez for permitting the postage of this long but arbitrarily unnecessary post.

The New Stand of The Dear Green Place has been renamed to the Laniuq End, to commemorate a run in the Series B Champions' Cup only denied by AS Sharala. The WFA hope this is at least some consolation to Laniuq Explorers.

The Tentalonian domestic transfer window has closed in preparation for the 2009 league season to begin.

Tentalonian transfer rules are significantly different from those of most other nations. A club cannot purchase the rights to a player under contract from another Tentalonian club directly; instead, in order to acquire a player under contract, the club must offer one or more of its own players in trade.

Nine such trades have taken place in the pre-2009 transfer window, involving a total of 13 clubs and 20 players. The blockbuster move of the window saw Sudbury midfielder Jamie Frost move to Stanford City in exchange for striker Thomas Martin. Both Frost and Martin are members of the Tentalon national team, and they were the only NT members involved in a trade.

The full set of trades:
  • Dave Logan (MR) and Steve Cole (MC) from Chadbourne City to Concord for Harry Taylor (D)
  • Alex Sheppard (DC) and Robbie Beckerman (M) from Hartford United to Garrison for Charlie Riley (GK)
  • Matt Cousins (F) from Chadbourne Athletic to Sanger for Danny Berry (GK)
  • Jamie Frost (ML) from Sudbury to Stanford City for Thomas Martin (F)
  • Justin Brittain (ML) from Sudbury to Garrison for John Johnstone (GK)
  • Mark Barton (M) from Whitehall to Liberty County for Ben Betts (F)
  • Garry Gibbs (F) from Chadbourne Athletic to Hyde for Lee Postlethwaite (DC)
  • Todd Mahoney (MR) from Monson to Liberty County for Jordan Marshall (F)
  • Michael Robinson (MC) from Stanford United to Stanford City for Nate White (F)

And so we have it, season 6 of the Una Serie. Royal Khaldoon whooped everything in existence last season becoming the first team to do the double, showing their heavy investment had paid off and after a three year monopoly over the league title, Pythons again failed to pick up a trophy and insult of insults were not asked to appear at The Prince’s Shield pre-season tourney (if you don’t know what that is, there’s a wiki page http://www.nswiki.net/index.php?title=The_Prince%27s_Shield).

With the amazing power of time skip, or for those of us lazy enough to recognize a SIM MATCH option on a video game, we arrive at the quarter stage of the season VI, 11 games in.

Matchday 11

Mark Sloan looked like he was putting the last two seasons behind him and proving his detractors wrong as Pythons sat at the top of the table 6 points clear of Ridgemont Town. Having picked up points in ten of the first eleven matches Pythons were looking strong, despite the sale of yet another influential player. Dossena’s replacement, the Malak international Dmitri Žukava had already notched 5 goals and his brace against Salaga added to his tally and increased his worth. Salaga’s 4th straight defeat keeps them rooted to the foot of the table

Elsewhere in the capital, a scrappy 2-1 win over 1860 Fluminerio was enough to save Tarmo Mäe his job, for the time being. The champions have kick started their title defence in a truly God awful manner, winning only 3 of their first 11 matches. Rumblings on around the Royal Stadium is that Mr. Mäe, despite his double winning season last year is a marked man and his time is up already.

Speaking of marked men, Akbarabad international Samin Akbar is in trouble after flipping off home fans during Almondvale’s away day defeat to Skyte City. The Una Serie newbie has started his career in a flashy fashion, with 4 goals in 11 appearances, one of which was a stunning bicycle kick against Augustus in week 7.

Elsewhere the drudgery of mid-table continued as it invariably does in the early weeks. With ground being lost and gained with little difference actually being made in the tables.

Una Serie Matchday 11 Results
Skyte City 1-0 Almondvale (Batista 31)
Ridgemont Town 2-1 Villa Ortiz (Jones 46, Smith 56; Maloney)
Athletic Khaldoon 1-3 Jonastown United (Valeny 70; Borges 3, 33, Rildo 86)
Augustus 1-1 Real Minanda (Eriksson 18; Genc 76)
Salaga F.C 1-3 Pythons (Karembeu 22; Žukava 7, 24, Costa 62)
Royal Khaldoon 2-1 1860 Flumineiro (Segura 13, Bocanegra 67; Keane 44)

Una Serie magazine quickly caught up with Jonastown United left back Ousmane Kaka. The wingback became J-Town’s first international call up of the new era and has been involved in the teams rise through the ranks in the Una Serie, from relegation survivors to Globe Cup competitors.

US “Ousmane, good to have you here.”

OK “No problem, I’m glad to be here.”

US “Right, World Cup qualification is less than a year away, do you think you’ll make the squad?”

OK “Well, obviously I’d like to make the squad but that’s up to the coach. Hopefully I can keep performing as well as I have been and get in there.”

US “You scored your first goal in 3 years last week, how did that feel?”

OK “Great. As a defender you don’t get many chances to score so I was chuffed to bits. I was a bit lucky with the deflection, but I’ll take every goal I can.”

US “We recently held the Copa Rushmori here in Queer Poco, how was that for you?”

OK “Fantastic. It’s just another step on getting us on the World footballing map. I’ve heard rumors we’re going to bid for the Cup of Harmony, so every little bit of experience we get to showcase our hosting ability is great.”

US “Hopefully if we get the Cup of Harmony the team will perform a little better than last time.”

OK “Hopefully. You always want to win and we feel like we let the fans down. Fingers crossed that we wont be facing another Cup of Harmony though.”

US “Ok, last question. Who on the Jonastown team has the worst hair?”

OK [laughs] “It’s got to be Bertrand Petit. He has that silly rat tail thing going on.”

FFB Premier League Season 25

Bloomfield National's big budget paid off with a narrow one-point victory in the Premier League's silver anniversary campaign. Their eleven draws were the subject of some derisive comment, but managing to lose just once in 22 fixtures proved decisive. Four Towers come second after two consecutive titles, and Greenville Rovers place third with their star keeper back in net for one final campaign.

The question of who is the best player in Babbage football has become quite murky now, with Magnus Svoboda dead, Tegan Nash off to Cafundéu, and Nathan Taylor and Averill Robinson both retiring after the season. Knowledgeable observers suggest that with a championship now under their belts, either winger Patty Heatherly or striker Debbie Sherman of Bloomfield National could step up to claim the distinction.

Badda-bing Badda-boom, like a bullet, here’s matchday 22.

Pythons still lead the chase for the league title and Salaga remain rooted to the foot of the table. Elsewhere Tarmo Mäe’s job seems safe after Royal Khaldoon kicked their season into over-drive and actually started winning before the people at the top started chopping heads off.

Matchday 22.

Return fixtures ahoy! Repeats of matchday 11 were the feature of the day and the possibility to gain revenge for 11 weeks ago was on the cards.

Mark Sloan’s Pythons team faltered at home to Salaga in a top meets bottom fixture. Despite taking the lead early on through Malak super striker Dmitri Žukava (who is single-handedly fronting a Pythons revival) the Khaldoon team were unable to capitalize and go forth and take the three points. A defensive error allowed Emile Karembeu to wriggle free of his marker and get clean through 1 on 1 with the keeper. Karembeu manned up and hit the back of the net, despite being on a poor run of form which has seen the striker score 3 times in 21 games.

The Almondvale express powered on and under coach Daryl Ferguson, they look like serious contenders for some honor or other. The three points against Skyte kept them 1 point ahead of Royal Khaldoon and allowed for Akbarabad international Samin Akbar to atone for his previous misdemeanor against Skyte by bagging a double to sink them.

1860’s weak strike force once again reared its head against a Royal Khaldoon who are on a wave of good form. However they did manage to grab one goal, even if it did take a hefty deflection off captain Tomasz Poborsky. Somewhereistonian forward Karbul Bak found the back of the net for Royal as did his international team mate Vytautas Törk, whose perfectly placed freekick showcased why they paid 20 million for him.

The wackiness of the mid-table continued, in the same way it invariably does. Augustus got three points away from home, as did Ridgemont and J-Town’s home form continued as they took all three points from Athletic Khaldoon.

Una Serie Matchday 22 Results
Almondvale 2-1 Skyte City (Akbar 16, 58; Phillips 65)
Villa Ortiz 0-1 Ridgemont Town (Boguinskaya 28)
Jonastown United 1-0 Athletic Khaldoon (Borges 7)
Real Minanda 2-3 Augustus (Vega 11, Best 82; Svensson 27, Zezinho 39, 50)
Pythons 1-1 Salaga F.C (Žukava 44; Karembeu 71)
1860 Flumineiro 1-2 Royal Khaldoon (Poborsky OG 37; Bak 51, Törk 60)

Racing Minanda 3-1 Palampas
East Khaldoon Park 1-1 Ajax Khaldoon II
Athletico Palampas 0-3 Stourton Town

And while league goings-on are going-on, the Trofeo Royal kicked off with round 1. In round 1 the 4 bottom teams from the entire league system faced off in two head to head matches to see who progressed into round 2.

Racing Minanda 0-0 Villa Flumineiro
(0-0 AET) (Racing Minanda wins 3-0 on penalty kicks)
Burley United 2-0 East Khaldoon Park

Racing Minanda fought out a nil-nil scoreline and even an extra half hour couldn’t separate the League II sides. Along came penalties and Villa Flumineiro keeper Hector Gaza became the hero, saving three penalties to propel Racing to the next round. High flying Burley United, who currently top League II easily overcame East Khaldoon Park, scoring twice in the first half hour to win the tie.

And as quickly as Round 1 went, round two came… adding the teams who finished 8th and 7th in League II the previous year to the draw.

Burley United 0-2 Racing Minanda
Old Forrest 0-2 Athletico Palampas

Unfortunately for Burley and Racing, they were drawn against one another after winning their previous fixtures. Minanda overcame Burley away from home in a nervy 2-0 victory which could have gone either way until the 2nd minute of 2nd half injury time when Minanda forward Luke Getts headed in from a corner. Athletico made sure it was a day for away teams winning 2-0 against Old Forrest and booking their place in round 3 – where the other 30 league teams are added to the draw.

Sorthern Union of Students Football League, 2044 season

Saint Patrick's surprise absolutely nobody by finishing second yet again, but STOP THE SLANI PRESSESS!!! For there is a major surprise down Beningrad way as the University of the Bleeding Obvious finally releases it's stranglehold on the league and finishes in third place, barely scraping into the International University Challenge Championship. It perhaps shouldn't be too surprising as the large majority of UBO's squad from the three title winning seasons graduated at the end of last year. A study nonetheless to determine reasons why they lost the title is underway. Though the results are still to be announced early suggestions indicate that winning ten less points than the University of the Fine Arts may have played a major role.

And so congratulations to the Snowspire based University of the Fine Arts for becoming the first team other than UBO to win the Sorthern Union of Students Football League. An exciting drama re-enacting the trials and tribulations of this brave team of history makes is understood to be in production by the university's theatre production students to celebrate the occasion. Tickets for this highly anticipated event are expected to go on sale for between 9.84 and 10.93 SN Rubles. At least ten people are expected to turn up for the opening night. Exciting times.

ELFA League Season 1

Well, this is the first professional season on record, but as the amateur league has finally finished, here the King's Empire Cup begins. Due to the fact there are 36 teams here, we simply eliminate four of them; Round 1 will have some scrappy matches. For those not familiar with the seeding, the Premier Divison is automatically seeded to the second round. 8 teams will be chosen at random from the rest to battle it out for a place in the next round.

Round 1:
Quinica Town 0-4 Seaton Town
Bluin Athletic 0-0 Yiftred Light Workers (1-0 AET)
Royal Jam FC 1-0 Tuntingone FC
Seaton Athletic 2-1 Koluity City

No real surprises here, but Seaton Athletic were given a run for their money by Koluity City, who did take the lead for most of the match. Seaton Town needed little help and polished off Quinica Town 4-0, a sure sign of potential promotion. Two of the worst ranked clubs so far, Bluin Athletic and Yiftred Light Workers, fought out a scrappy 0-0 draw at full time, and it took 29 more minutes to break the deadlock. Royal Jam FC and Tuntingone FC played an enjoyable, if not low-scoring, match for the neutrals. Round 2 next, and these are the results with the heavyweights mixed in:

Monksville United 0-0 Macaronia FC (0-0 AET)(1-0 PK)
Monksville FC 0-4 Lodgertia City
Lodgertia United 3-0 White Star United
Lamarckists 0-0 Pontifucia United (0-0 AET)(0-1 PK)
VLC FC 4-0 Losing the Game FC
Royal Jam FC 3-3 Norrion Rovers (3-4 AET)
Seaton Town 0-0 Yillog City (0-0 AET)(0-3 PK)
Secret Services 0-1 Indionion Athletic
St. Bartholomews Wanderers 4-0 WB Albion
Seaton Athletic 0-0 FC Tavernia (0-1 AET)
Royal Dillvill 0-0 Gilgonare FC (1-0 AET)
UR Town 0-5 RGS Athletic
SS City 4-0 Benopia AC
NT United 5-1 Polkation FC
Bluin Athletic 0-3 Nile Bridge
Klosertun Town 0-6 FM Town

Three upsets and 6 matches that had to go extra time and beyond to settle the scoreline. Most of the Premier Divison teams strutted their stuff, with the exception of WB Albion and Lamarckists, the first being convincingly beaten by Divison 2 promotion favourites St. Bartholomews Wanderers, the second losing out on penalties to non-league side Pontifucia United. The third upset was Seaton Athletic, who were knocked in extra-time in their tie against FC Tavernia. The other three advancees from Round 1 were also knocked out: Bluin Athletic convincingly by Nile Bridge, Seaton Town being wiped out on penalties against Yillog City and Royal Jam FC only just lost out due to Norrion Rovers, in extra time.

Second Aeropag Football Invitational

Invitees
The Paripana Sporting Council invited sixteen teams (eight seeded and eight unseeded) to the Olympic Tower for this Aeropag Football Invitational. One applicant, Rothsbere Athletic of Sorthern Northland, was denied entry. Many believe that this rejection was caused by the PSC taking the SNFA’s not taking the AFI seriously seriously, but the official announcement of the teams contained no such awkward wording. The organizers cheated somewhat by placing the application of New Cefn Albion, from sixteenth-ranked Krytenia, in the unseeded bin, with the excuse that the KFA allegedly selected them on the basis of their Series B Champions’ Cup title.

Seeded
Yuba United (PSC) TakilQuip Champions’ Cup 20 champion
Football Nordiqueville (SPT) Globe Cup 17 champion
Aeropag Penguins (PSC) Host
Raynor City United (ESF) Silver Cup champion
Huellim FE (VPH) VTF Gold League eighth place (combined points)
Taylor’s Cross (WZI) West Zirconian National League eight place
Deportivo Soluca (SRG) SuperLiga champion
Laketown Rangers (TAE) Taeshani Champions Tournament champion

Unseeded
New Cefn Albion (KRY) Series B Champions’ Cup 16 champion
Atlantas Klaipaada (SOM) Meistrliiga champion
Orean United (LEN) Liventia First Division champion
AS Bezieres (VLD) Valladar Super League sixth place
Bloomfield National (TBI) FFB Premier League champion
Kapundae FC (HAN) IFL Heavenly Division Apertura champion
Trams Union United (WEE) Weegie Premiership champion
Illinopolis FC (ALB) Albundanian Major Football League champion

Format
With sixteen teams, the format of the group stage woud be four groups of four, with each team playing all of its group opponents once. As UICA cup champions, Yuba United and Football Nordiqueville were automatically placed in groups A and B. A special draw was used for Aeropag Penguins to limit their options to groups B and C, so that they could not face Yuba United until the final round. The five remaining seeded teams were placed in one pot, and the eight unseeded teams in another pot. The groups were drawn as follows:

Group A: Yuba United, Laketown Rangers, Kapundae FC, Orean United
Group B: Football Nordiqueville, Aeropag Penguins, Bloomfield National, Atlantas Klaipaada
Group C: Deportivo Soluca, Huellim FE, New Cefn Albion, Trams Union United
Group D: Raynor City United, Taylor’s Cross, AS Bezieres, Illinopolis FC

The group standings would be determined, in order, by points, head-to-head result, goal difference, goals for, and fair play standings. The winner of each group advanced to the playoff bracket (for 1st–4th place), the runners-up to the consolation bracket (for 5th–8th place), the third-placed teams to the classification bracket (for 9th–12th place), and the fourth-placed teams to the kindoff bracket (for 13th–16th place). In each bracket, the team from Group A was paired with the team from Group D, and the team from Group B with the team from Group C.

Football Nordiqueville produced a mild upset in the match of lesser importance, with the final penalty earning them 9.2 kg Au compared to Raynor City United’s 8.8 kg Au. Shock runners-up Trams Union United were given 9.6 kg Au, and shock champions Kapundae FC 10 kg Au. Each team in the playoff bracket received a trophy, varying slightly in size based on the club’s placing, and each player of the top three teams received an appropriately-colored medal. The four teams also received goody bags, with an expanded offering compared to last season’s, this time having a cash value of 218.6 g Au.

2182–83 Élite League

Élite League One
A late penalty provided Yuba United with the goal they needed to clinch their second straight Élite League title on the penultimate matchday, giving them a new type of treble (Champions’ Cup, Élite League, and League Cup). Sokojiwa Dosi made an impressive effort toward claiming their first league title since the days of the IAFL, but was always chasing the blue-clad members of the Big Three. Carter FC’s mid-season acquisition of Gowa Tawaw seemed to improve their fortunes, helping them in their climb from mid-table obscurity to a place in the Champions’ Cup group stage. The Sokojito Überdome once again saw more than its share of poor performances from both of its tenants, with Gyulhabdwen uncomfortably close to the drop zone at mid-season, and a horrendous finishing run by Dalamjwijĭ leaving them thankful that there are only seventy matchdays.

Élite League Cup
A tumultuous cup run for Qidade Savana, which saw the club bounce back to the tune of 6–0 in a replay following a 1–1 draw with Jamaica Giants and salvage their quarterfinal tie with Dalamjwijĭ after a 4–2 deficit, terminated in appropriate fashion with a total defensive collapse. Having taken the Silver–Blues to extra time at Holmes Stadium, Roje’das let in three goals in the thirty minutes to irreversibly ruin their first League Cup final appearance in nearly forty years.

Capitalizt SLANI Cup
Yuba United was denied a second Quadruple in stunning fashion by minnows FC Glückstadt, three divisions below, by a single goal at the Memorial Stadium in the fifth round. Their rivals Sonoma Center nearly befell a similar fate in the succeeding round, as it looked for a moment like the a team from Columbia might actually have a shot at reaching a cup final and force Capitalizt SLANI to reconsider its choice of neutral stadium, but an equalizing goal for the Panthers sent the match to extra time and then penalties. There, they were able to keep both their manager’s job and Holmes Stadium’s operating budget safe with a 4–2 result. However, the upset machine was back in action in the semifinals, with SV Pößneck achieving a famous win at Olympic Tower Stadium and Ἄργος ΛΠ doing likewise in Takilan fashion at Anaphase Alchemy Stadium. For those of you who don’t have the record books open (or can’t find the right page), this was the second cup final in the storied history of SV Pößneck—their first was also in the Capitalizt SLANI Cup (then called the TakilQuip Cup) in mid-2104, in which an equally implausible series of results led up to their 1–0 win over fellow minnows Palos United. Facing stiffer opposition on this occasion, history would not repeat itself, as Pößneck supporters’ chants of “REF IS GREEK!” proved inadequate to overcome Ἄργος ΛΠ’s 3–2 lead.

Delaclava unveils new Premier League

Today, Delaclava officially made the Delaclava Premier League open to the rest of the world. All teams are accepting transfers. The teams currently in the Premier League are:

Catherina FC - Prestigious as always. Perennial champions, the team carries six World Cup team members, including five starters, higlighted by keeper Graham Torres and Alessandro Campeon Berrera.

Cleopatrana SC - They seem to always be winning too. Although not normally blessed with the greatest talent, they somehow find their way near the top each year. Led by Jamal Pacheco and Mose Fuentes.

Filbertiens - Consistently scraping the bottom and always just barely dodging relegation.

Steckholl United - Normally struggling, but has found the way in recent years and this year may have a winning lineup. It stars Geraldo Ayala and Mantwenic transfer Joseph Craigling.

Tigers - Far from the rest of the country, this team isn't so far from the top. Except an off year this year, though. Headed by young goalkeeper Tiki Kahmaneh.

Cavalry - Based in Pulikastan, LeDoucheland, this team consistently is in the second league. However, Cavalry won the Silver League to earn promotion.

Kings Club - Unconventional, and always looking for fresh blood. This year, their hopes lie in 15-year-old striker Simon De Braden, with fellow goalscorer Adrian Ketzel of Mantwenic hoping to make a splash elsewhere.

Blackwell - Always middle of the pack, never having the talent nor the leadership to take them to the top. Led by World Cup reserves Chet Hardy and Kurt Holcomb.

Three Cities - Second in the Silver League last year, Three Cities is far behind Cavalry in skill, and could just as easily be demoted back to where they came from.

Athens - Once great, Athens has experienced a sharp decline and for the first time, is very close to relegation.

Metro Tirana - Middle of the pack, but the emergence of striker twins Marko and Mikel Berrera may generate some offense and some wins.

South Harbor - A team with solid chemistry and a fair base of fundamentals. David Ward returns to captain them.

Rhodes - Bottom of the pack, but always easily avoiding relegation. Having a traditionally bad defense, keeper Saul Berrera may bump this team up a few spots.

Good Liz Walsh - The oldest team in the league returns in hopes of breaking out of the middle of the pack. Directed by veteran goalie Kyle Tran and John Ewing.

Juegas - Always near the bottom, but the acquisition of Jim Molina may change that.

Oakley - Right near the relegation line last year, and hopes to avoid the line again with the addition of Stephan Greenwood from Mantwenic.

Once again, all teams are accepting transfers.

Kingdom of Dancougar College Football

OH CRAP, OH CRAP, THERE'S AN IUCC DEADLINE AND WE HAVE NO SEASON. It's okay, though. Calm down. No need to panic. We can do the same thing we did last time. Take the quarterfinalists from the most recent spring tournament and hold a special 10-day event which will whittle those eight down to three IUCC bids. Makes complete sense and will work without any problems. And in the end, it won't matter because those West Zirconians went and got all better than us at football and stuff.

Group A
Nara College 3-0 University of Gilderome
Kabuto University 1-0 Carnegie Technical Institute
Carnegie Technical Institute 3-0 Nara College
University of Gilderome 1-2 Kabuto University

IUCC Play-In Game
Carnegie Technical Institute 2-0 Purnell College

IUCC Classification Game
Kabuto University 0-2 Thane College

In the end, the final ended up being a rematch of last year's semifinal draw between Thane and Kabuto. Kabuto won it back then and ended up losing the championship game to Nara. This time around, Thane prevail to claim the first seed. In the consolation game, the one with something seriously on the line -- qualification, period -- those bloody Technies have done it again by topping Purnell. Now we're going to have the band without pants* following the team around. Don't say we didn't warn you.

IUCC Qualification
1. Thane College
2. Kabuto University
3. Carnegie Technical Institute

* They wear kilts, but even so. Pray for rain, because then they'll run for cover while doing the "Wet Wool!" cheer.
