Also he orderd his 3000 men to return to Edoras, Durin would stay there to wait for the events to shift.
(the full army of Nogrod will be 4000 strong, besides the 5000 that are already with Durin)
Durin then sended a letter to each and every dwarven realm to gather all dwarves under one banner at Edoras.
Durin expected to get around 15.000 dwarven soldiers from all kinds of dwarven realms.

Feodren, in Eomers presence, sought out Durin
"Dwarf! May I have a word with you?"

"Eomer, they would bring war on our people, we are neutral and they bring dark enemies with them," Theoden then looked at the Dwarf, "I'm sorry master dwarf, please leave, back to where ever you came from." Then Theoden had men bring 3 baskets of food, two barrels of ale, and one chest of gold, "This is for your help Master Dwarf." Then Theoden had Eomer taken to Meduseld and Feodren locked up in Irons.

Helm's Deep
Over the rise of the hill near the Deeping Wall rode Gandalf, his party trotting briskly at his back. They had traveled steadily, resting for only brief stretches at night. Shadowfax halted, and the Grey Wanderer stroked his beard as he contemplated the newly completed fortifications of the mighty fortress of the Eorlingas. From behind him came a mutter grunt of appreciation from the dwarf, and a "well, some men can build" as the red-haired fellow spoke to his tall pale companion.
"Theoden king fears much these days- as well he should." said Gandalf to himself. One of the men, a lanky fellow with dark hair, kneed his horse. It trotted up to the wizard's side and the man seemed to search Gandalf's face.
"You have not changed much old friend; you still speak in riddles."
The wizard harrumphed. "I speak of that which is plain, Dunedan. Open war looms over the land of the Horse-Lords, and Theoden is bracing for war to come. As should we all. A cloying darkness creeps from the east, and all trees must prepare themselves to weather it as best they can. Come now, let us speak to the lord of the Riddermark."
At that the company nudged their horses forward, making for the causeway leading up to the newly-strengthened gate of the Hornburg.

Gandalf looked up at the gate, peering at the man high upon the wall.
"I seek old friends, to take heart and give counsel in these times of watchfulness. I would have words with Theoden son of Thengel, your king."
He nodded and looked back at his companions.
"These are friends of Rohan, and of her king. We seek to help the Riddermark through the strengths of our arms and the courage of our steel."

The tall man next to Gandalf looked up at the walls carefully, his face stony, as men filed along them with bows.
He turned to the wizard as behind him the pale haired elf gripped his longbow tightly. "Gandalf, perhaps now is not the best time to speak with the Rohirrim. They are hot-blooded, and something has pushed them to the edge of darkness."
Mithrandir nodded, and spoke once more to the guard atop the gate.
"That is a merry tale, for weary travelers to be turned away after a journey of many days. It seems the courtesy of the folk of the Riddermark is lessened of late." He shook his head sadly. "Can you then tell me whence your lord has gone, that I may speak with him there?"
