The first half of the season 17 of the Cafundelense league has ended. As everyone in the whole world must know now, this part of the Cafundelense season is the least important, being only useful to get the players fit (with the exception of the Prince Regent’s Cup [former Empress Cup and Emperor's Cup], which has some importance... but its winner won't go to the TQCC, but to the Globe Cup instead). The State-related competitions don't have practical importance. Other competitions are State Championships, and the only reason why the supporters want to win this is because they have to defeat their rivals to get the trophy. And that’s the only reason why they exist too. The State Championships and the State Champions Cup have tradition, while the Prince Regent’s Cup has practical importance. See the names of the state champions (yes, I'm lazy and won't update the introduction):

Champion: CLUBE COMERCIAL!
Reactions: WHAT THIS UPSET MEANS? Clube Comercial, a team just promoted to the First Division, won its state championship against rivals like Serrano, Central United and Ranca Toco before moving to win the State Champions Cup, against the favourite squad of Petardos S/A, in an immense upset. So, does this mean that the team is able to do well in the league? Maybe better than expected, but probably not at top level. After all, state-related competitions don't receive much attention from the biggest clubs, with some even fielding reserve line-ups... but, even with these facts, Eddie Barnes's team made an incredible job in securing this title for his team, something that surely can give the players a lot of motivation for the National League.
The Prince Regent’s Cup has the same format of the former Empress Cup (and the Emperor’s Cup), with the name being the only difference, after the brother of the former Empress (and son of the former Emperor), the Prince Miguel Van Tocco, became the new leader of the country as his sister had psychological problems, becoming the Prince Regent Miguel I, who’ll lead the country until the heir of the throne, son of the former Empress, reaches 18 years of age (he is currently 15). A bigger competition than the last ones, it involves 64 teams. Finally, the CCFM have decided to make serious rules about the participation in the cup: the 40 teams from 1st and 2nd divisions, the best 12 from the 3rd division, the top 8 from the 4th division and the top 4 (not necessarily promoted) from the 5th division in the last season participate. See the results (obs: no away goals rule). And now it is seeded for the first stage as, following the criteria, the 32 best teams play the first game away, being separated in the draw from the other teams. Note that its champion goes to the Globe Cup:

The Round of 64 usually has nothing worthwhile. After all, teams are seeded in this stage, and real big games are nearly impossible to happen. Nothing new in this edition. The only nice thing to mention in this stage would be major upsets, but they didn't happen. Minor ones happened, though, as Aldeia Vigiah's win over EC Elville.

Now we have major games in the competition. As you can notice, first division teams start to face each other, and at this point really big clashes appear, involving state rivalries. In this edition of the cup, there was an interesting game against mid-table rivals Central United and Internacional, and of former giants Clube Imperial and Dunboor FC. But none of them received so much media exposure as Atlético Jutense x Cafundó do Juta. Two of the current Elite Four clubs of Cafundéu. The two top clubs from Cafundó do Juta, and the Juta State. The biggest rivalry in Cafundéu. Yes, all of these phrases are true, and the biggest rivalry of the country appeared in the Prince Regent's Cup. After two tough games, Cafundó do Juta defeated their opponents, to continue in the cup. Upsets continued to happen at this stage, with Coríntios Jutense defeating Khalmar-Tijhus.

After the big clash between Cafundó do Juta and Atlético Jutense, people were already awaiting for another big game in the Oitavas, by looking at the seedings. And it happened: Petardos S/A faced Cafundó do Juta, in what surely is the biggest rivalry that is not related to States. They are rivals due to many title disputes between the two clubs throrough the years. Once again, the Silver Squadron advanced, in a good away win over the Billionaires, which surprised all the Cafundelenses. All the other games were far less interesting, if you look at the teams involved, than the PSA x CJU one, with Ranca Toco x SC Lasft coming the closest. On another news, this was the main round of upsets, with Palestra defeating Serrano!
Quarterfinals
1st Leg
(1st) Nova Éden 2x1 Dunboor FC (1st)
(1st) Ranca Toco 2x0 Palestra (3rd)
(2nd) Rio Bonito 1x3 Cafundó do Juta (1st)
(2nd) Galáxia 0x0 Clube Comercial (1st)
2nd Leg
(1st) Dunboor FC (3) 2x0 (2) Nova Éden (1st)

(1st) Cafundó do Juta (6) 3x0 (1) Rio Bonito (2nd)
(1st) Clube Comercial (1) 1x0 (0) Galáxia (2nd)
After good games in the previous two rounds, the clashes in the quarterfinals were a bit disappointing. It was a nice touch to see one team of the third division and two from the second in such an advanced stage, but even the upsets didn't happen. Nothing really interesting to mention at this point.
Semifinals
1st Leg
(1st) Clube Comercial 3x2 Dunboor FC (1st)
(1st) Cafundó do Juta 1x1 Ranca Toco (1st)
2nd Leg
(1st) Dunboor FC (5) 3x0 (3) Clube Comercial (1st)
(1st) Ranca Toco (2) 1x1 (2) Cafundó do Juta (1st)
Penalties: 4x2
The lack of upsets helped the semifinals to include more popular games than the previous round. Dunboor FC against Clube Comercial seemed to be a bit of an anti-climax for a semifinal, as Clube Comercial isn't a big club. But Ranca Toco and Cafundó do Juta is ever a good game, a dispute between two great teams. And to see a clash like this one being solved on penalty kicks is even more exciting.

DUNBOOR FC WINS THE PRINCE REGENT’S CUP!
Reactions: END OF CUP CURSE FOR SANCHEZ? Remember last season, when Petardos S/A defeated Javier Sanchez's Dunboor FC in the final, the third Final loss in the career of the Candelariasian coach? Well, this season was his redemption. After a very good campaign in the Prince Regent's cup, Dunboor FC won, and Sanchez too, defeating Ranca Toco in a final which ended being easier than expected. For the club, the title can mean a comeback to the "Elite Four", as both A.F.F. and Ranca Toco lost their places in it, one of them being immediately filled by Atlético Jutense. One place is still open in what the media calls Elite Four, and Dunboor FC is a contender. If the team has what it takes to return to be considered one of the top teams of Cafundéu, only its performance in the National League, the most important footballing competition of the season, can say.
