Tumo showed no signs of quitting
So then it could be seen as quite fitting
That he played hard
Without a card
And as he ran constantly, no sitting

OOC:
This RP is quite short and small
Believe me, it's not one to enthrall
But I am at a meal
About to close a deal
So I must write this so as not to completely leave you all.

(OOC: This was written on the Slembanan FA’s website (www.slembananfa.slm).)

Slembanan team update

Since we last updated you on how we were doing in the 7th Friendly Cup, we have five more matches to update you on in the tournament. We won four of those games, and drew the other.

The first game in this update is a 6-1 win over Yelvoldia, our puppet (and former colony). Their team consists entirely of badgers. The scoring was opened by us on the 32nd minute, when striker Toby Valfox side-footed high into the roof of the net. It was 2-0 to us in the 43rd minute, when our excellent star striker, Val Kylx, hammered a bicycle kick into the top corner of the net, with Yelvoldian ‘keeper Jay Farley stranded. Striker Patrick Vale gave Yelvoldia hope in the 57th minute, rounding our veteran goalkeeper Toby Gapman, and scoring, pulling the score back to 2-1. However, just two minutes later, it was 3-1, when Kylx chipped the ball over Farley. In the 68th minute, it was 4-1 to us, with striker Harry “Komodo” Young slotting the ball under Farley after receiving a great through ball from attacking midfielder Jyvx Dagens. Dagens managed to get his own name on the scoresheet in the 73rd minute, curling home one of his trademark free-kicks. And then, in the 87th minute, Kylx completed the rout (and his hat-trick), nodding a Yuppë Tárnix cross past Farley to make it 6-1 to us.

Our next game was against Max empire. The Maxians are a team who we know very well, as we had played three times before this game in international football – we lost 2-0 to them in the first match (the final of Friendly Cup 2), drew 2-2 with them in the second (in the group stage of Copa Gaveo II), and beat them 1-0 in third (in the group stage of the first Paradisian Cup). And, in the fourth game (the one in this update), we thrashed the Maxian team 5-0. Defender Hank Bowles put us 1-0 up in the 25th minute with a volley, before a 32nd-minute thunderbolt from defensive midfielder Follin Maxet made it 2-0. In the 58th minute, it was 3-0, with right-winger Finlay Yalnif hammering home from 25 yards. Substitute midfielder Derek Newman made it 4-0 to us in the 67th minute, curling a beautiful shot past the Maxian goalkeeper and into the net. In the 79th minute, the rout was complete, when our captain, Don Adobe, banged home a corner from a Yuppë Tárnix corner, making it 5-0 to us.

The next game we played was against Soviet Canuckistan, a team who have given us trouble before. The game ended in a 2-2 draw. Dimitri Rolokiev opened the scoring for the Canuckistani team in the 12th minute, scoring a penalty kick. However, in the 26th minute, we equalized, with Young just managing to slip the ball past Vaclav Sinopov. Despite this, Maxet produced a horrible tackle on Mahmoud Al-Beq soon after. Maxet luckily escaped with just a yellow card, while Al-Beq went off injured. A header from John Wasney made it 2-1 to the Canuckistani team in the 67th minute, but a great volley from Kylx in the last minute rescued us.

After a bye day, we played Gredavcat in our next game. We won 6-2. Gredavcat went 1-0 up in the 12th minute, with their star striker dinking the ball over Gapman to score. However, a 23rd-minute header from Kylx, a 34th-minute free-kick from Dagens, and a 45th-minute volley from defender Dennis Valfern had us 3-1 up at half-time. Valfox made it 4-1 to us in the 54th minute, side-footing past the Gredavcatian goalkeeper to score. This was Valfox’s last act of the game, as he was replaced by his younger brother Jordan just after. Jordan made it 5-1 to us in the 65th minute, nodding home from a Yalnif cross. Another substitute, Joe Baxter, made it 6-1 to us in the 78th minute, cheekily backheeling the ball into the net. Gredavcat’s left-winger slid past Gapman in the 82nd minute to pull the score back to 6-2, but the damage had already been done.

Our next game was against Yelvoldia. We won 4-2. Toby Valfox made it 1-0 to us in the 23rd minute with a backheel, before a great free-kick from Dagens made it 2-0 in the 34th minute. Midway through the second half, a thunderbolt from Kylx made it 3-0 to us, before a header from Adobe in the 79th minute extended our lead to 4-0. Although a chip from Connor Evans, and a bullet header from Vandrill Markon, pulled the score back to 4-2, those two goals were just late consolation goals for the badgers of Yelvoldia.

FUCK ISRAEL! I support peace, therefore I stand with Palestine. I want a bi-national solution, a state in which Jews and Palestinians can coexist peacefully. The onus is on Israel to stop this - it can do it anytime by bringing a ceasefire and ending apartheid.

A Travel Guide to Rovegia

Ghislain Broussard
Glaubourg Citizen Daily

I hope you enjoyed our instalment about Rovegia's climate. Today's article will be about Guyennes, the second-largest city in Rovegia and capital of the Guyennes district.

Guyennes

Guyennes, with it's population of 330,000 combines a small-town feel to a large city. Originally constructed to be a harbour for the fleets fishing in the plentiful waters off of the northern Rovegian coasts. Fishing continues to play a very important role in the local economy with many canneries and other businesses providing employment for the locals. One of the major venues to see the local flavour of Guyennes is the Marché des Mers, there you can browse the many stalls by local merchants selling everything from fish to soaps and house decorations. Located closeby in the historic district is the Chez Hermilon Restaurant which features a menu with locally sourced fish and produce and has been open since the late-1800s. Another place of note is the old Palais Royale, which for hundreds of years housed the royal family of French Rovegia till they were deposed in 1820 by democratic rebels. The palace features over 200 rooms and is a National Historic Site so admission is free along with tours. To get around town, the Guyennes Metro is your best option and services the airport, stadium and most of the rest of the town. If you're tired of the town, go out and rent a fishing boat from many of the operators in the harbour. Another option is to catch a boat to Cap Verldent National Park and go hiking on the many trails there.

OOC: So once again I am pressed for time
But I thought it was fun to do a rhyme
Therefore I commence
As you shall see hence
A second consecutive RP, on a dime

"For I will now show through these little bits
How not having time can give you practice fits"
And so said Tumo yesterday
As, after practice, he lay
Eating his favorite homestyle dish of grits.

"It was hard out there today on the field
The plays we ran just didn't seem to yield.
And so I got mad
(Something that's bad)
And put up my screw it, I'm not continuing this limerick.

It's too damn hard, said Tumo, too damn hard. What with other commitments, he had so little time to practice that even his poetry had decreased. Maybe an appearance in the playoffs would change that.

By: Beni Cortez

Group 5:

Gaveo 5-0 The Royal Kingdom of Quebec
Tyrants 1-1 Boring Paradise

Gaveo overpowers the Quebecois with a score of 5-0. The goalscorers were Une Yabro (22nd), Roberto Garcia Jr. (44th), Cesar Milano (46th), Li Kan Hoo (76th) and Santiago Rojas (88th). The first goal was scored when Une Yabro headed the ball into the goal when he recived a magnificent cross from Roberto Garcia Jr. 1-0 Gaveo. Near the end of halftime Roberto Garcia Jr. got his first goal of the tournment from a assist from Sebastian Cadiz. 2-0 halftime, Gaveo is winning. Barely two minutes into the second half and Cesar Milano scores a goal from another assist from Sebastian Cadiz. 3-0 Gaveo. But in the 76th minute Sebastian Cadiz was fouled hard and he was injured and out of the game. But oddly enough no cards were given dispite Gaveoan protests from both the coaches and the players. Li Kan Hoo, a aging relic of the old national team from 2012, was switched over the injured Sebastian Cadiz and was up to kick the free kick. He shoots and it goes over the wall and over the goalie's hands. 4-0 Gaveo and Li Kan Hoo celebrated his first goal of the tournament by running into the stands. In the 88th minute Santiago Rojas scored a goal by manuevering pass the goalie and shooting it into the net. 5-0 Gaveo and Gaveo remains undefeated.

4 Shadowbourne 7 1 2 4 6 21 -15 5
5 Tyrants 7 0 2 5 3 16 -13 2

In a surprising upset the Tyrants (a team we have beaten 7-0) has tied with second place Boring Paradise, 1-1 and now Gaveo has secured its first place spot. Win, lose, tie tomorrow we still have first place and a great position to win the cup, when we go to the playoff rounds. Gaveo-Boring Paradise, be sure to support our team and go Gaveo!

Game on Mak!

Morgana paced up and down uneasily. The Commune had qualified for the knock-out round but had drawn co-hosts and reigning champions, Maklohi Vai. It was do or die time. She had not spoken to Kjn since their date, barring the short formalities as part of the Paradystopia vs. Commune-PDT.v2 match. He had seemed distant then and she worried that she had been foolish enough to think he was different to the menfolk of the Commune. She had a phone number for him but had yet to use it. Having said that, he had her number and he hadn't used it either. Bastard! Maybe he was busy? Paradystopia had qualified too.

She checked her phone again. It was on a violently loud setting with a seismic vibration function setting. She knew she'd not missed anything, but she checked it all the same. Nothing. In flinging the phone onto the bed she thought she may have heard something and quickly regathered the small device. Still nothing.

Morgana slapped herself. Get a grip! To the humble hotel bathroom and a quick splash of cold water onto her face. She didn't want to play the Vaians. A loss and she'd be going back to the Commune and that was something she found she no longer wanted. Mogd-Syrdusha Khvadrant'delta still required a captain and would be hoping for another league victory and then off to the Champions Cup, all interspersed with the ritual modelling shoots. Baptism of Fire 51, World Cup 64 ... Eurgh! She wanted a change, something different, a change of scenery.

Then the phone rang ...

ooc: follows on directly from the Commune RP

"Hi"
"Oh, Hi Kjn."
"How are you?"
"I'm ... good ..."
"That's good."
"... yeah ... "
"I just wanted to wish you luck in the Maklohi Vai game."
"Oh ... thanks."
" ... "
" ... that all?"
"Well, I, you know, thought I should make use of the number you gave me ... wishing you luck seemed like a good excuse."
"You need an excuse to phone me?"
"Look, it's been difficult. People have been asking questions and, well, you beat us four - one in the last game ... It looks a little suspect."
"The Commune don't require outside aid. We succeed on our own merits."
"Ok ... I know, but it's not exactly easy to convince the other Paradystopi players ... "
"They know?! What do they know? How much do they know?!"
"I don't know, but it's safe to say that the marks you gave me were hardly subtle ... "
" ... oh ... that ... err ... sorry?"
"It's okay."
"So ... where do we go from here? I'm guessing you've had your fun and now you can't wait to see me leave for the Commune?"
"Not at all ... "
"So ... what then?"
"Would you considor coming to Paradystopia for a while? You could stay with me for a bit or if that's a bit sudden I have a friend I should be able to persuade to provide you a spare room or something?"
"Haha ... You think the Commune would let me? I'm a career woman Kjn, I have Mogd-Syrdusha Khvadrant'delta to captain."
"About that ... maybe you could transfer?"
"Transfer?"
"Move to a Paradystopi club?"
"I know what a transfer is Kjn!"
"Ok ... it's just that, well, the friend I mentioned works as an assistant coach for Lhaydifee Artisans, you know, the all-female club in Newtown? And well, they'd be very interested in talking with you. They've just signed two players from High Heels and are keen to bolster their ranks."
"Really?"
"Honest ... "
"I .. I don't know ... Truthfully, I barely know you and ... The Commune ... it's all very sudden and ... I don't know Kjn."
"Have a think, ok?"
"I will do."
"I've got to go now. I'm sorry I've not phoned sooner, but it seemed like it would draw too much attention if I had done before we guaranteed qualification."
"I understand."
"See you soon?"
"You better."
"Goodbye Morgana."
"See you soon Kjn."

RP Cutoff for the two matches of:
Rovegia (2) vs. Estope (2) @ Kolo Lahi
Soviet Canuckistan (2) vs. Riyahda (3) @ Kolo Lahi

Scorination is going to be delayed due to issues on Rovegia's side. No worries, I presume it will happen in time.

Game on :p

A Limerick war has been proposed by a foe
A war of this kind has not much of a show,
but we will make,
and then take the cake,
on this limerick war that all shall learn and know.

There once was a man from Totai
Who walked while eating a fry
but to his dismay
(it was not his day)
as that fry was in fact a guy.

A lady from Tamolaki was walking
To her friend she was casually talking
so she didn't see
a rather large key
that was not to be used for unlocking

The man and the woman and their problem
Had a meeting to see if they could solve them
but he had a record now stained
and she had a face now pained
So the cannibal and the injured just said, "Screw 'em!"

But this happiness would not last for long
as he was forlornly singing his last song
this from a jail
where he got mail
despite all his cannibalistic wrong

A new day shall rise again with new hope
And a new couple who may elope
but most of all
what will enthrall
Is beating Commune and not to mope

Cesar Milano's freekick goal

By: Beni Cortez

Group 5:

Boring Paradise 0-3 Gaveo
Shadowbourne 1-0 Tyrants

Gaveo, already secured it's first place spot, beats a second place Borning Paradise 3-0 with goals from Bru Yo Chan (22nd), Santiago Rojas (44th) and Cesar Milano (85th). The fans in Gaveo erupted in joy when Cesar Milano scored that golazo, more on that later. The game started with a Paradisian offense trying to score a goal but the Gaveoan defense and the goalie held on and conceded no goals. Later in the 22nd minute after a failed attempt at goal. Bru Yo Chan lead the counter attack and made the goal, giving Gaveo a 1-0 lead. Later before halftime was called Santiago Rojas made a goal from a beautiful kick from 34 meters. It when right through the goalie's hands. 2-0 Gaveo. But if you thought the 44th minute goal was good, check out the 85th. Santiago Rojas, was fouled giving Cesar Milano a chance to kick a goal. He shoots and the ball goes from 10, to 8, to 6, to 4, to 2, and into the net as the goalie had no hope for stopping it, and Gaveo ended it's group stage with a bang and a 3-0 victory.

Group 5 Standings

Team P W D L For Ag +/- Pts
1 Gaveo 8 8 0 0 35 3 +32 24
2 Boring Paradise 8 5 1 2 19 10 +9 16
3 Shadowbourne 8 2 2 4 7 21 -14 8
4 The Royal Kingdom of Quebec 8 1 3 4 6 19 -13 6
5 Tyrants 8 0 2 6 3 17 -14 2

As you can see, Gaveo leads the group with 24 points and qualifies for the playoffs and a second place Boing Paradise qualifies as well. Shadowbourne, despite the 1-0 win over the Tryants they couldn't qualify and ended third with 8 points. Quebec got 6 points and Tyrants got 2. We have a bye week as Boring Paradise faces off with Kintratar a regional foe back in Tanos. We wait a week, and then we will find out who is our next victim. Go Gaveo!

Boring Paradise 1-1 Paradystopia (1-2 AET)

Maklohi Vai 6-0 Commune-PDTv2

Boring Paradise a team that came second in Group 5, loses in extra time to Pradystopia 2-1 in a closely contested match. Meanwhile Maklohi Vai cruses over Commune-PDTv2 6-0. We face Paradystopia in the Guyennes tomorrow. While Maklohi Vai faces off with Friendly Cup giants (and equals) Kintratar. If Gaveo wins we go to the semi-finals and face off with the victor of the MAV-KIN game. Sebastian Cadiz is back on the main line up and is ready to roll the question is are we?

Quarterfinal Matchups:

Kintratar vs. Maklohi Vai @ Glaubourg
Gaveo vs. Paradystopia @ Guyennes

Rovegia 0-2 Estope
Soviet Canuckistan 4-1 Riyahda

Meanwhile in the Maklohi Vai leg of the tournament, Hujukialand vs. Estope and Slembana vs. Soviet Canuckistan. All four teams are powers in the is cup and each of their fan bases expect nothing but a win, which two team's dreams will end? We will find out. Estope got to this stage by beating hosts Rovegia 2-0 and Soviet Canuckistan beat the Riyahda (Frogs) 4-1. Not as dramatic as our leg but still entertaining.

Hujukialand vs. Estope
Slembana vs. Soviet Canuckistan

Our past record doesn't matter anymore, we are in the playoffs and we are here to win. Go Gaveo!

ooc: upon the exit of the Commune, Paradystopia will be flying the flag in the limerick war

Upon seeing the result of six - nil.
For the Commune 'twas a bitter pill.
Though losing to a host.
Is better than most.
And return for the eighth cup they will.

When the time comes that we reach that day.
The Vaian team will surely pay.
The Commune, you see.
Don't take loss easily.
Hopefully Margaret will answer what they pray.

Meanwhile in other results
Cheers of rapturous joy, such exults!
The Paradystopi won,
with a quick final run.
to the sound of Communadi insults.

The final goal came from bold Nigel Right
Who drove forward with all of his might
Defenders he threw,
not one but two.
Scored, and the crowd did ignite.

So onwards to a Gaveo fixture.
Thanks to Nigel, the brilliant trickster.
A victory needed.
o'er opponent, high-seeded.
And we're in the semi-final mixture.

But I don't want you to think I've forgotten
Of Morgana and Kjn's romantic problem
For she still remains
To watch over the games.
Despite her current mood being decidedly rotten. (blame the Vaians :p )

For decided, she had not yet.
On a transfer whether she aims to get.
The Lhaydifee Artisans
In Paradystopi Lands
A transfer fee, they have not yet set.

But I can safely say it's their dream.
To have Morgana play amongst their team.
As with any of these sales,
It's the smaller details,
Like bypassing the Communadi regime.

But enough of this random bellyaching
For the Cup, a Paradystopi claim we are staking
When we and Gaveo meet
Will we succumb to defeat?
or victorious history in the making?

ooc: your move Mak ...
