Phanlanxia-Caliburn Seeks a Liberator!

Postby Phanlanxia-Caliburn » Sat Jan 19, 2013 10:47 pm

THE STORY SO FAR.......

After a short border war in which the nation of Phanlanxia-Caliburn attempted to protect it's northern-most province from the aggression of another nation, Fasternia it was summarily invaded by a foreign power, the Empire of Sacred Nippon. Nippon swiftly took control using elements of it's professional army, striking at Phanlanxia's open coastline while the Armoured Legion was engaged in the defense against the northern aggressor. Though clever diplomacy, the leader of Phanlanxia-Caliburn, Karl Atticos, brokered a surrender that would render the nation a client state, trading protection for access to deep copper reserves.

All seemed well, but when the Emperor himself visited the nation, two unknown assailants, later identified as agents of Fasternia by Phanlanxia-Caliburn made an attempt on his life. This was thwarted by the brave sacrifice of Karl Atticos. However, the Emperor was not informed of the treachery in time, and ordered the nation locked down under martial law, declaring the assassination attempt the work of Phanlanian soldiers!

Now, the new leader of Phanlanxia leads a resistance to throw off the yoke. The brave army of the nation has disbanded, forming guerrilla cells that even now strike at Sacred Nippon throughout the country. What the legitimate government of Phanlanxia-Caliburn calls for is whatever aid may be given. Supplies, arms, volunteers, or simple diplomatic intervention. Bring this evidence to the Emperor. Save the Phanlanxian people!

Confession of Fasternian Agent....

OOC: Diplomatic action would be preferred, the nation of Phanlanxia-Caliburn quite enjoyed it's status as the Sword of Nippon.

Fasternia officially apologizes for the actions of our agents and declares it had nothing to do with the assassination attempt. All governing F.I.A officers knew nothing of any kinds of plans.

Fasternia is ready to send humanitarian help into Phanlanxia-Caliburn in cases of damage to property and military consultants for possible conflicts with Sacred Nippon. Fasternia will otherwise stay neutral.

From the Official State Media of Sacred Nippon

The Fraudulent Fasternian Confession

The rogue "government" of Phanlaxnia-Caliburn recently released a recording that they claim is the confession of a Fasternian agent. In the tape, the "Fasternian" agent claims that he was responsible for the assassination attempt on our beloved Emperor Ochai. But further analysis has proven this tape to be false. "The person speaking is clearly not Fasternian" said Jeffery Ochai, a linguist at the Ochai University. "The accent heard clearly comes from the southern part of Phanlaxnia-Caliburn." Sacred Nippon's leading language experts have all determined that the person speaking is not of Fasternian descent. Thus they have proven what we have suspected all along. That the tape released was part of the rogue "government"s attempt to slander the reputation of Sacred Nippon and our beloved Emperor Ochai.

Sato declared temporary Imperial Governor

General Sato has been declared temporary Imperial Governor of Phanlaxinia-Caliburn. As you are all aware, Phanlaxnia-Caliburn is currently under martial law. Our decision to install Sato is due to the lack of stability in the nation. The agents of the rogue "government" of Phanlaxia-Caliburn have attempted to destroy the precious friendship that exists between our two nations. In a special ceremony at the Council Chambers, Sato was sworn in as Imperial Governor. In his acceptance speech, he vowed to crush the pitiful resistance of the rogue Phanlaxian-Caliburn "government" and that he would do whatever it takes to crush "this pitiful rebellion". Sato is to remain Imperial Governor until Martial Law is lifted.

A broadcast from the Phanlanxian Patriot Network

The One With the Rifle Shoots!
Dear Patriots of Phanlanxia-Caliburn. The time in which we might have come to accept this illegal martial law has come to an end. Sacred Nippon has relinquished any hope of legitimatizing this occupation through the telling of outright lies. While you may have heard the so-called Sacred Emperor announce earlier today that our brave government's plea for justice is a fabrication, what you probably haven't heard is that Fasternia has owned up to the crime of attempted assassination. It was rogue elements of our northern neighbor who slew the noble Karl Atticos, yet Sacred Nippon clings to the lie that it was one of our own. The Insult.

Let me tell you what this means, fellow patriots. This means war. Not the phony war waged against the invaders, the hours in the morning when Nippon descended on our capital like locusts. Total War, every soldier, every citizen. The occupation force is 100,000 strong, but we number in the millions. So when you see a dead soldier, left in the street by some Nipponese dog, know he died fighting for your freedom. Take up his rifle for the cause, drive back the invaders! And as always, stand fast, stand together!

Now, for the casualty reports...

Capitol City, Sacred Nippon

A grand ceremony had been staged at the Council Houses. General Sato was to be sworn in as Imperial Governor of Phanlanxia-Caliburn. As Imperial Governor he was to hold absolute power. Sato would act as the nation's legislature, judiciary and executive branches. But of course, it was all just a grand show. Sato had no real authority over anything. He took direct orders from Emperor Ochai himself. Not that Sato minded though. He had been raised in a military family and had no interest in politics. Much effort had been put into making this ceremony as extravagant as possible. An entire battalion of troops stood at attention with special ceremonial rifles. The 3rd Ceremonial Battalion had been also brought to the ceremony to play Sacred Nippon's national anthem and several songs from the homeland. And the flag of Phanlanxia-Caliburn that once adorned a flag post in front of the Council Houses, had been replaced with one of Sacred Nippon.

The General himself arrived in a heavily armored limo. He emerged from the vehicle with several agents from the Imperial Anti-Crime Bureau. Upon seeing him, the men of the Sacred Nippon Army broke the silence with thunderous applause and the ceremonial band began playing the Sacred Nippon national anthem. The General was to accept his new office on a grand podium that had been set up. He walked upon the stage, escorted by the agents. Before the swearing in ceremony was to begin, the General gave a short speech.

"People of Phanlanxia-Caliburn, today marks a great day in the history of your nation. The corrupt government that ruled your nation for so long has been thrown out of power. As Imperial Governor, I vow to continue my crusade to stamp out the rogue "government". As Imperial Governor, I will try my hardest to protect the welfare and safety of the Phanlanxian people. Despite our best efforts to watch over the people of this great nation, there are some who resist our kind efforts. The cruel and oppressive "government" of this nation brainwashed the poor people of this nation for years. The rogue agents of this "government" continue to stir up destruction and hardship to help bring back the cruel old regime. I vow, that by the end of my term as Imperial Governor, I will destroy this pitiful rebellion!"

The crowd of soldiers broke out in thunderous applause. After the applause subsided, the swearing in ceremony begun. An officer from the 215th Engineering Battalion would be conducting the ceremony. The officer instructed the General to raise his right hand.

"General Sato, do you accept the office of Imperial Governor? Do you vow to watch over and protect the people of this great nation?"

"I do"

The ceremony was now over and Sato was officially Imperial Governor. The crowd of troopers gave their applause once more and the ceremonial band begun to play a song from the motherland.

One Week Later

General Sato was now settled in at his new office. The accomodations of his new office far exceeded that of his old one at the Forward Operating Base. It was quite clear to him that the Phanlanxians had put great care into furnishing the Council Chambers.

There was a knock at the door.

"Come in" said the General

It was his second in command, Lt. General Nakamura. He was carrying a folder loaded with reports.

"Leave them on my desk"

He opened the folder, and the papers spilled out onto his desk. He spent the next few hours, carefully going over each one. A majority of the papers were status reports from his units in the field. Each one discussed the progress they had achieved and casualty reports. The past few weeks were filled with fierce fighting throughout the cities. In the past week alone, they had lost one hundred and eighteen men. Resistance was still stiff in the cities, so nearly all of their forces were located in one.

But one of the reports came from another division:

To: Imperial Governor Sato
From: Imperial Intelligence Divsion, Ochai City

Governor Sato,

Our UAV and satellite scans have detected increasing activity in the forest and mountainous regions. We suspect that these areas are becoming centers for insurgent activities. We have managed to requisition a Spec Ops team from High Command. The team will be dispatched in the next few days to scout these areas.

Signed,
A. Ajibana
Director of IID

The General wished to send troops to these regions, but there was still a large insurgency entrenched in the cities. They simply did not have the manpower and resources to do it at the time. He yawned and prepared to return to the barracks. But then he noticed that a paper had been obstructed by clutter on his desk. He removed the paper. The paper had a large red stamp that said "CLASSIFIED" and it had come straight from High Command.

To: Imperial Governor Sato
From: High Command
Security Level: CLASSIFIED

Governor Sato,

We have authorized the deployment of Type 9001 Crowd Suppression Vehicles. These heavily armored vehicles are mounted with THEL (Tactical High Energy Laser) cannons that are useful for suppressing riots and large crowds. The immense power of the THEL cannons cause excruciating pain in affected individuals and gives said individuals a "burning sensation". Despite the pain caused, short term exposure to THELs is non-lethal. Unfortunately, due to the limited availability of this device, we can only offer five of these vehicles for your use. These vehicles will arrive at the Capitol's Airport within three days. Best of luck General!

The War Ministry had been gathered by Joseph to discuss the situation of Phanlanxia-Caliburn. Joseph hit a list of papers on the desk.

"Telegrams between the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Phanlanxia-Caliburn's legitimate government and also the analysis made by my leading military experts." Joseph said and sat down.
One of the Officers took the papers into his hands and read them through. "I will never agree to such a...!" The Officer said standing up.
"Then get out of here and never come back!" Joseph yelled at his face. The Officer gave him an angry look and left the room with doors banging. Joseph signaled one of the guards to leave the room. Soon a bang and a loud thud were heard. "He was a risk. Anyone else want to leave early?"
Another one of the Officers took the papers. "I have to admit my Leader, this is a bit risky."
"It is worth it. Believe me, soon there will be nothing threatening us!" Joseph said eagerly.
"How can you be so sure that..."
"We have the advantage of surprise."
The papers circulated around the desk with everyone questioning Joseph about the plan. "This has been drafted by my most reliable military experts. Now you go and command the military to move into Phanlanxian territory as described in these papers!"
The Officers reluctantly left the room.

Within the next three hours, Fasternian Army Divisions 30, 34, 46, 47 and 50 began to move towards the border of Phanlanxia-Caliburn under the supervision of General Allen. Rest of the Army Divisions were spread around Fasternia and its borders. Soon Fasternian forces crossed the border and began to move towards the "Rebel" HQ picking up some "rebellious" forces on the way. All Nippon resistance was futile, as the amount of their forces was small compared to the amount of attacking Fasternian forces. Some Air Wings were also mobilized and Fasternia quickly gained air control over the northern territory of Phanlanxia-Caliburn. All Air Wings began bombing Nippon forces but were careful not to damage Phanlanxian property.

Strength of a division (about):

200 light tanks
100 heavy tanks
10,000 men
500 short-range artillery
200 long-range artillery
100 anti-air artillery
500 trucks

I'll give exact details of divisions during scenes of battle.

"So, it's come to this," Megara looked up from the freshly inked orders. "Bringing in the Fasternians?"

"I'm afraid we have little choice," General Krios responded, "my scouts have spotted UAVs in the area, it won't be long before Imperial Special Forces come kicking in our door."

"We could hold them, this fortress was designed for the Bomb."

"We could hold them, yes, but we couldn't lead the resistance. Without the land lines and the runners, we'll be cut off from the surface."

"You know what, old friend? I hate it when you're right." Megara put pen to paper and signed the plan, officially titled "Operation Breakout" The plan had been written up shortly after the surprise telegram from the Dictatorship of Fasternia and the offer of a military alliance.

"So do I, sometimes, but that's the fate of a general, I'll make sure these are distributed." He walked out of the office, leaving Megara in silence. Above, though meters of solid rock and equal distances of clear sky, Fasternian jets streamed across Phanlanxia-Caliburn again.

Capital City, Phanlanxia-Caliburn
General Sato's second in command burst into his office. "Rather unusual" the General thought to himself. The Lieutenant General that served as his second in command was renowned throughout the Army for his calm demeanor. After years of fighting on the front lines, the Lt. General was a hardened warrior. Few things ever fazed the man.

"Sir! We've lost contact with our forces in the north. We have multiple reports of Fasternian forces closing in on the Metissan Mountain Range. Our current estimates place enemy strength at about 10,000 men."

The General stared at the Lt. General for a second and then burst into laughter.

"Lieutenant General, our occupational force currently stands at 100,000. We out number those pathetic Fasternians 10 to 1. We have dozens of naval ships and aircraft that will make short work of any Air Strikes the Fasternians throw our way. We will crush this pathetic "invasion" within weeks."

"But Sir! Hiro's regiment was stationed in that area!"

General Sato suddenly remembered that the Lt. General had a nephew in the service. Just like his uncle he was an outstanding officer. He had risen to the rank of Major at the age of only thirty one. He was the acting commander of an infantry regiment that was responsible for guarding the border that was shared with the Fasternians. The General rested his arm on his Executive Officer's shoulder and attempted to reassure him:

"Don't worry about him son, you know Hiro. He's a tough one. He probably got away."

The Lieutenant General began to calm down somewhat. He took a sigh and began to speak:

"Okay sir. How do you intend to fight off this invasion?"

Situation Room, Sacred Nippon

The Emperor and his advisers analyzed the latest reports coming out of Phanlanxia-Caliburn. The Fasternians had launched a surprise invasion into the nation. Their forces made their first incursions into the northern part of the country. The few troops they had stationed there were easily defeated by the Fasternian's superior firepower and numbers. But the Emperor and his advisers were not worried by this news. At that moment, there were 100,000 troops in Phanlanxia-Caliburn. Their Sattellite and UAV scans indicated that there were roughly 10,000 Fasternian troops leading the invasion. The Emperor was confident that their forces would make short work of the invaders, but he decided to take one more try at diplomacy:
Official Statement from Sacred Nippon

Image

From: The Desk of Emperor Ochai, Sacred Nippon
To: The Government of Fasternia

Dear Mr. Martinez,
It has come to our attention that forces from your nation have launched an attack against our territory. This unprovoked attack on our territory displays the true colors of your nation. The treachery of your nation will never be forgotten. The many brave men and women of our armed forces gave their lives to ensure that you regained the land that is rightfully yours. As of today, all diplomatic ties between our two nations have been severed. Be warned, the one hundred thousand men stationed in Phanlanxia-Caliburn will not give up this land easily. Every man stationed there is willing to give his life to ensure that Phanlanxia-Caliburn lies in our hands. I can safely assure you that this will not be an easy fight. We will provide one more chance for you to withdraw your forces from our land. If you do not take advantage of this opportunity, much bloodshed will follow.

Signed,
Emperor Ochai

You made a small mistake. The strength of A DIVISION is 10,000. Strength of the whole attacking forces is much more with five divisions attacking.
All attacking divisions together:

1000 light tanks
500 heavy tanks
50,025 men
2500 short-range artillery
1000 long-range artillery
500 anti-air artillery
2500 trucks

While the 50,025 Fasternian forces were moving forward on Phanlanxia-Caliburn soil, Joseph held a speech in front of the House of the Leader explaining his actions to the people.

"Fasternian people!
Just a couple of weeks ago we were finally united together as the territory of Fastlanxia was rightfully taken back after a short war with Phanlanxia-Caliburn. We can thank the Empire of Sacred Nippon for shortening the war by forcing Phanlanxia to surrender to them.
As you know, Phanlanxia joined Sacred Nippon as a protectorate. At first I was happy that they were under what I thought was good leadership, as Phanlanxians were given their own government. But then Emperor Ochai showed his true character by falsifying that my agents, one of which killed the High Councilor Karl Atticos in an attempt to kill the Emperor, are actually Phanlanxian agents. He initiated Martial Law in Phanlanxia-Caliburn, which clearly is an attempt to seize full power.
You have probably heard the famous phrase from Adolf Hitler: One nation, one people, unified under one Leader. I'm taking this a bit further by saying: One nation, one people, unified under one National Leader. By national I mean someone who actually is of the same nationality as the people he's leading. All nations have a right for their own leadership.
So, our goal with this military operation is to free Phanlanxia-Caliburn from the grip of Emperor Ochai. We have a chance to show that we are not the evil we are thought to be! Fasternian people! We will rise again!"

*The Hundermenschen director sat at his desk shuffling papers around, this was one bad thing about getting to a rank this high in a project was the damned paperwork. He would shuffle paper by paper to neat stacks across his desk when one of his fellow soldiers walked in the room, this made the director look from his papers, he would then say.*

"What is your reason to be in here private?"

*He noticed the rank on his sleeved arm his ears perked up waiting for the man to talk.*

"Sir we just received a telegram from a neighboring nation, they ask for relief aid from their recent fighting, what should we do about this?"

*The director sat for a moment thinking then saying to the private.*

"We will send a detatchment to their region to provide support to their people, we could always use another trading partner. Now back to your duties private."

*The private nodded his head in respect walking from the room shutting the door behind him. Meanwhile the director now with something else on his mind was now on his computer typing the telegram to the other nation with a slight smile on his lips.*

Good evening,

The Commonwealth of the Hundermenschen has just received a telegram that you are looking for relief aid, we can provide such things as partial military service and medical services. But these aids don't come free, we will help with releif effort if your nation is willing to open trade with the Commonwealth.

Sincerely,
Burchard Schnitzer

OFFICIAL MISSIVE: PHANLANXIA-CALIBURN GOVERNMENT IN EXILE
TO:Burchard Schnitzer, Head Command of the Commonwealth of the Hundermenschen
FROM:Megara Basilious, High Councilor of Phanlanxia-Caliburn
RE:Offered Humanitarian Aid

Mr. Schnitzer,
Given our current need, I would be more than happy to accept whatever aid you are able or willing to offer. As you may have heard, we, along with our neighbor to the North, Fasternia, are currently engaged in open battle in Metissa Province with the hope of breaking out into the plains of our Capital district. With the level of occupation, we have taken many casualties, but are making good progress. What we need most now are good doctors and good mountain fighters. Since the Sacred Nippon navy holds us at sea, vital supplies such as fuel and arms are also low. Should you send aid, I will give word to my resistance cells along the border to begin smuggling in your consignments.
I regards to payment, the opening of trade is a surety. While Phanlanxian gold reserves are low following Nippon confiscation, we can offer copper and uranium from our western mines. I look to your response,
Megara Basilious,
High Councilor

Fasternian forces were met with heavy resistance at the southern border of Metissa Province. Nippon forces were able to inflict heavy damage to Fasternian forces, killing at least 1,500 and damaging/destroying 34 heavy tanks, 45 light tanks and a total of 300 artillery. When the Air Wings reached the Southern border they started heavy bombings on Nippon positions. Fasternians were able to break through the southern border within a wide area. Now being only 50 miles away from the HQ, a command of rest is given. Fasternia is also preparing to transfer divisions 22, 24, 21, 15 and 11 to Phanlanxia-Caliburn rising the total amount of attacking forces near 102,000.

*The leader of Hollenhunden team was in the barracks playing and writting to their families or laying back in their cots doing an assortment of things, koder, the team leader would walk in the room saying in a demanding voice.* "Attention! We just got word that we're going to help out some other nation, get your gear ready and meet me in the hangar bay in 30 minutes." *with that said he would walk out, he was already in full armor looking left to right as privates would talk with eachother on guard duty.*

*With word already out many of their dropships were preparing with combat medics, mostly females and other infantry soldiers for support. The 30 minutes had passed and everyone was there with their XM-8 rifles and gauss rifles taking their seats in the ship. The ramp would close as the ship would lift off to the direction of the Northern region as the other ships would head to the direction of the capitol for aid. Another telegram would be sent out.*

We have a good amount of trained doctors that can assist you medically, i accept the trade of your resources, our first detatchment should reach your capitol in a matter of a few hours. And do not be afraid of our canine appearance we won't attack you. Best of luck.

Sincerely,

Capital City, Phanlanxia-Caliburn

The Council House was filled with officers from all branches of the Sacred Nippon Military. A makeshift Command Post had been created in the Council House overnight. The luxurious furniture that once adorned the building had been replaced with TV and computer screens and large maps of Phanlanxia-Caliburn. General Sato was receiving up to the minute status updates regarding the battle in the Messita Province. So far the battle was going in their favor. Current estimates indicated that the Fasternians had lost 1,500 men and about 360 vehicles. The casualties of Sacred Nippon forces currently stood at 1,150 men lost and 280 vehicles destroyed.

While the battle raged down south, Sato had been ordering his men in the Capital City to dig in. All kinds of fortifications had been erected around the city. Tank barricades and sandbags could be seen all around the city. His men also resorted to using debris from destroyed buildings as fortifications. And that debris was in great supply. The Sacred Nippon forces had leveled many parts of the city in their effort to crush the insurgency. Ruined and damaged buildings could be seen on nearly every street. The Council House was one of the few buildings that was in perfect condition. A junior officer went up to General Sato:

"General Sato, We've received orders from High Command to return you to the 8th Fleet."

General Sato was bewildered.

"But this battle is going in our favor. The Fasternians don't stand a chance."

The officer removed a document from his briefcase and handed it to General Sato:
From: Imperial Intelligence Division
To: Imperial Governor Sato

Governor Sato,
Our latest Satellite and UAV scans indicate that the Fasternians have sent another five divisions into Phanlanxia-Caliburn. This puts enemy strength at about 100,000 men. At this time we must advise that you return to the 8th Fleet to ensure your safety.

Signed,
A. Ajibana
Director of IID

Messita Province

"INCOMING!!!!!"
An explosion assaulted the ears of the Private. A Fasternian bomber had launched a carpet bombing a few miles away. They were on the front lines on the war against the Fasternians. The invasion had come as a shock. In the past few weeks, there had been no indication of any increased military activity near the border. Although they had done a decent job of holding off the Fasternian forces, there numbers were simply too high.

Several minutes ago they had received a message on the radio from Battalion Command. They had been ordered to return to the Battalion HQ a few miles away. According to the Battalion's CO, they were being ordered to fall back to the Capital City. According to the CO, attempting to hold this province was impossible. Their latest intel reports indicated that they were outnumbered 10 to 1 in the Messita Province. They had taken many losses already. The forty man platoon was now reduced to ten inexperienced Privates. Making their way back to HQ would be miraculous.

8th Fleet, 30 Miles from Phanlanxia-Caliburn

The Admiral received fresh orders from High Command. According to High Command, the Fasternians have launched a massive invasion into their territory. They were now ordered to launch a large barrage against the approaching Fasternian horde. The aircraft carriers of the fleet were buzzing with activity as squadrons of Fighter Jets and Bombers were scrambled.

Destroyers and Battleships prepped their rockets and Cruise Missiles for deployment. The vast majority of the warheads were conventional, but a few were equipped with napalm or chemical weaponry.

Dear Mr Martinez,

I will provide you one final opportunity to cease this invasion. Their are 4.5 Million men serving in our armed forces and every one is completely loyal to me. Every man in our armed forces is willing to die for me. Please also note that we will not hesitate to use biological or chemical weapons against your forces if the need arises. Realizing that this war is escalating, we have decided to open the opportunity for peace talks. We are willing to reach a compromise with your nation if it is reasonable. Please respond to this message as soon as possible.

"Up and at them, men!" A Phanlanxian Lieutenant waved his platoon over the top. The men leapt up without hesitation, charging the enemy. The Nipponese soldiers had barricaded themselves into a farmhouse downslope of their position and their anti-tank weapons were holding up the Fasternians entire advance. The men charged downhill, rifles firing to keep the enemy's heads down. Machine guns opened up, stitching the charging platoon with hot lead. Three men went down instantly. Two more fell as they bounded across the distance.
And then they were on their foes. They charged in through doors and windows, bayonets flashed down as they swept from room to room. The Sacred Nippon troops didn't give up easily though, each room cost the lives of another handful of young men and women. At last, the platoon had pushed through the entire house.
"Get on the horn with the Fasties!" The lieutenant ordered. He wiped his sweaty and blooded brow and leaned heavily against a crumbling wall. The radio squawked with the reply.
"Much obliged Phanlanxian. Now we can get on with the liberation of your country. You can stand aside now." the platoon made a variety of quite vulgar motions. "Wait, Platoon C, we're tracking rounds on your position, looks like...."

"GAS!" a young private yelled. already the lieutenant could hear the whistling gurgle of gas shells. "Masks on lads!" There was a flurry of motion as the platoon struggled to liberate masks from packs. There was a crash outside, and a foul smell filled the farmhouse. Four four men, the warning had come too late. They flopped to the floor, faces horribly contorted as poison filled their lungs.

"God damn these bastards!" the lieutenant put his bayonet through the wall.

"General Apolos?"
Hera looked up from her bunk aboard the P.N.S Rodney Mackay with bleary eyes.
"What is it?" she asked tersely. She hadn't slept well in the weeks following the surrender of her country to foreign invaders. With the entire fleet under her command of on an ill-advised invasion of an insignificant island when the war began, her recall orders had arrived too late. Now her fleet lay at anchor in a hidden cove, IFFs tuned to a stolen civilian signal.
"Message from Command. Say they've got a job for us." Hera leapt from her berthing and brushed the wrinkles from her uniform. She shrugged on her jacket and ran to the bridge, almost tripping over a few lowly rating.
"Reporting for duty," she blurted into the radio. "You said you had a mission for me?"
"We do," the tired voice of General Krios said on the other end of the line. "General, as of 1900hours we confirmed use of chemicals and biologicals on our troops. Intelligence reports that the attacks originated from the enemy's 8th Fleet."
"And you want us to knock out their missile cruisers?"
"I know they've got you outnumbered, and I understand if..."
"We'll get the job done, General," Hera said resolutely, switching the channel from Command to Fleet. "Now hear this..."

FROM: The Fasternian Government
TO: The Empire of Sacred Nippon (A COPY SENT TO: The government of Phanlanxia-Caliburn)

Dear Emperor Ochai,

I will only cease this invasion when you cease the injustices against the people of Phanlanxia-Caliburn. The conditions for an armistice and peace are following:

1. Sacred Nippon ceases all actions against the rebels, on the condition that the rebels cease all actions against the Nippon forces.
2. Sacred Nippon guarantees Phanlanxia-Caliburn a leader or a group of leaders of its own nationality also declaring its sovereignty.
3. All actions against Fasternian and supporting Phanlanxian forces are ceased within 12 hours of receiving this message.
4. We do not demand the withdrawal of all Nippon forces from Phanlanxia-Caliburn. This is to be negotiated with its new government.

As we both know, we can damage each other into a very bad condition. I don't want this war to be prolonged; especially fighting over the sovereignty of a democratic nation. In return for a declaration of sovereignty of Phanlanxia-Caliburn Fasternia is ready to give Sacred Nippon a permission to annex a part of a rational extent from Phanlanxia-Caliburn.

*The medium sized ships that carried the soldiers and releif teams in were launched from a nearby carrier just off the shores of Caliburn, at this point their people would see the dropships flying in at high speeds would approach both the capitol and the battlefield which was now covered with a thick cloud of toxic gas, the squad smelled the gas even up from the ship they were in, the leader of this squad would say.*

"You guys smell that? masks on now."

*The squad would put their masks on nearing the drop zone, the ship could have been seen by the soldiers that were near the farmhouse now, with the ramp open now the squad would jump from the ship with masks on, they were looking around the area quickly before moving to the farmhouse which they though was empty.*

*Meanwhile the ships that were sent to for releif effort had reached the capitol of caliburn, regardless of how the people would react to their appearance, the personnel that were dropped at the capitol was mostly field medics and infantry escorts.*

Joseph: "As Fasternia does have economic reserves for war losses, we are able to pay the $25 Billion NSD. Is there any chance that Phanlanxia-Caliburn could also keep 1/4 of their mines so that their economy would not collapse? If it does, Phanlanxia-Caliburn might fall into the hands of communists. Fasternia agrees to the 100,000 personnel in the regions mentioned. The official apology will be signed within 3 days after Phanlanxia-Caliburn signs this Treaty. A non-aggression pact is something I've also been waiting for, so I will sign it as soon as possible."

Phanlanxia-Caliburn Signs the Treaty of Ochai City

The State of Phanlanxia-Caliburn and the High Councilor, Megara Basilious agree to your terms. With the return of the Capital and Metissa Provinces, Phanlanxia-Caliburn will cede the southeastern copper hills and the port town of Helenc, which may be used as a base of operations. As to the monetary reparations, Our reserves are mostly depleted, though we can pay the sum over a period of 20 years. We trust that with this treaty, this war can be over and the region can have peace.

Also, he just said he would cede Metissa back to me, stop trying to give away my lands dude.

Official Communique

To: Fasternia, Phanlanxia-Caliburn
From: The Desk of Emperor Ochai

Gentlemen,
I'm glad to see that we were able to end this conflict peacefully. Our forces will withdraw from the Capital Province within the coming weeks. We will also allow the government of Phanlanxia-Caliburn to retain a quarter of their copper mines. We also accept their offer to pay the $25 Billion NSD over a 20 year period.

Signed,
Emperor Ochai

Capital Province, Phanlanxia-Caliburn

Lt. General Gunma was in the Council Houses, preparing for the upcoming battle. The Lt. General and several other high ranking officers were creating intricate battle plans for the upcoming battle. They had been ordered by High Command to hold the capital city at all costs. All sorts of fortifications had been hastily constructed in preparation for this battle. The TV and computer screens gave up to the minute intel regarding enemy strength and movements. All the officers in the room focused their attention upon these screens. This was interrupted when the red phone at the Lt. General's desk began to ring. The red phone was a direct connection to Emperor Ochai himself. It was to only be used in cases of emergencies or major events. Silence engulfed the room as the Lt. General walked over to his desk. He picked up the phone and kept it close to his head.

"General Gunma, I would first like to thank you for the excellent work you have done in the region. The success of your actions will not be forgotten by history."

Gunma was taken aback and gave himself several seconds before responding.

"Thank you, you- your majesty. May I ask why you are calling us at this hour?"

Emperor Ochai took a few moments to compose himself

"There has been a change in plans. At this time, your forces are currently not needed in this region."

Gunma was in shock.

"But Sir! The Fasternians are preparing to assault the city. We can hold them."

"I appreciate your bravery Gunma, but it is not needed. Prepare your forces to withdraw in the next few days."

The line went dead. The entire room was still silent. Gunma broke the silence and told them the news. There was a collective murmur throughout the room. Each officer in the room was bewildered as to why they had been asked to leave. They hadn't had much time to discuss this however, as there was much work to be done. The officers had to pass down this order to their units.

This order was not being welcomed with warm arms. The troops had been hunkered down in fortifications for the past few days, eagerly expecting the arrival of the Fasternians. The anger of the troops was taken out on whatever civilians were left in the city. Murders and rapes would be common for the next few days. Tank crews would level buildings for no apparent reason. Over the course of their occupation, the city had seen much punishment. In their attempt to suppress insurgency, entire neighborhoods would be razed. Many buildings all across the city were damaged or destroyed. It could possibly take years to repair all of the city's infrastructure.

The Council Houses were now completely empty. Soldiers had spent part of the day removing equipment from the Council Houses. Unlike many buildings, the Council House was still in perfect condition. But it wouldn't be for long. A platoon of soldiers had spent the night terrorizing the city. They too were angry with their new orders. The platoon would shoot at random civilians and destroy property. Their rampage had brought them to the Council Houses. The day before, the platoon had made several molotov cocktails to "have fun". They found the perfect use for their cocktails right here. The men had no idea of the significance of this building and did not hesitate to retrieve the cocktails from their packs.

Ochai City, Sacred Nippon

The Emperor was glad that he was able to pull off that deal. After much deliberation with his advisers, it was decided that the Capital Province was no longer worth keeping. The Capital Province was a hotspot for insurgent activity. Attempting to hold the Capital Province was costly. Their forces had lost many men trying to hold the province. In the process of subduing the insurgency, his forces had inflicted alot of damage upon the Capital City's infrastructure. The Capital City was no longer of economic value to them. The Emperor was also not willing to spend hundreds of millions or possibly even billions of yens into repairing the infrastructure. He would leave that to the Phanlanxians. They were also fortunate enough to be able to keep the copper mines and they would be allowed to construct bases and garrison troops. Despite being driven out of much of the country, Sacred Nippon would still be able to reap the economic benefits of the mines and keep its military influence in the region.

Official Release of the Democratic Federation of the Taryegeans:

It is truly a shame that this matter was concluded so swiftly, as the Federation was prepared to offer the support of it's Armed Forces to the nations of Phanlanxia-Caliburn and Fasternia, to aid against the aggressive Empire that held them in dominion, otherwise known as Sacred Nippon. Said nations have every right to leave this Empire, that has brought war to their lands, slain and rape their civilians, and otherwise harmed them.

Regardless, should the nations ever choose to rise up against the Sacred Nippon again and fight for their freedom, the Federation will stand with them.

Signed,

President Stahl.
