Joint Special Operations Command. I wasn't one of the "zOMGz UR SO COOL" guys that most people think of when they see JSOC, but I served under Brown, Dailey, and McChrystal. It was a good duty, and I'd rather be doing that still than pushing my chair hither and thither.

The issue is, changing focus to Yankee Empire, a lot of people with direct military knowledge have spent time "war gaming" this scenario to death. Arguments, valid ones, can be made both for not ever having dropped the bombs, or for not having dropped enough of them. It's sad, but the reality is not cut and dry either way.

Brown, Daily and McChrystal? The darker daughter company of Halliburton? Some of my colleagues went to the world of PMCs, trying to drag me with it, one was Brown, Daily and McChrystal.

THE REAL QUESTION HERE:

Why didn't we let McArthur nuke the southern parts of China and North Korea while we had the chance?

Would've saved us alot of trouble in the long run.

I always find this question odd though because to me it's just digging up the past, whether one beleives their use justified or not is irrelevant now, they were already used.

On your age (I assume you are 17; 1 year before entering service) you can ask it. Soldiers tend to get angry at mostly young kids from 15 years old because

A) we cannot lie about it and
B) we are not proud if we do it; if it happened, it happened, but you just rather don't talk about it.

And one final question.

What do you suspect from the military.

I'm 19, I guess it all depends on personal outlook, I know some people who are quite proud of their kills and then others who aren't.

Proud of their kills? When I saw the man I shot down drowning in his own blood I wasn't really proud of it, I could've cried when I tried to get the blood out of his mouth to prevent him drowning. His lungs were already filled with blood however and his lungs were demolished.

I'm definitly not proud of that.

Pain; you can bet

Stress; real stress yes, not the stress you know now

Fear: You bet

Discipline: untill you cry

Experiance: of what?

Frustration: you can also work in office for that

Increase in physical Strength and Endurance: just sport, no need to join the army

Meet new people: go to a bar

Comraderie: that's true

Being sent places where people want to kill me: why do you want that?
Possible physical Dismemberment/Crippling or Death: idem as above

Learn about War: go read a book, you don't want to experience it

A uniform..: ah, an uniform... And then?

The decision to deploy nuclear weapons against the civilians of Japan was made in the presence of multiple viable military alternatives, foremost of which would be a blockade of the Japanese Home Islands. Also motivating these extreme US atrocities was the widespread, government-fueled belief that the Japanese people were racially inferior to Anglo-Americans, less than human. The war crimes committed during the Pacific War are inexcusable.

The United States WAS blockading Japan. Rather effectively, actually, with US submarines sinking most of the Japanese merchant fleet. Tell me, how would causing mass starvation be worse than dropping the A-bombs? Also, given the shit the Japanese did to POWs and occupied people its hard to blame US soldiers (or any human being who is not a raging asshole) from having a fervent dislike for Japanese soldiers.

Well

You can say that easily, but when you see the product of a bullet, you will think different.

Let me tell you this; keep contact with me. If you don't see dead people, it's ok. If you DO see dead people, or even worse, see people you have killed, then we will talk again about this.

It's just fatalism. Not in a dreary hopless way just in an inevitable way.

We're all dead men, this doesn't mean I don't put value on life.

From a lot of military history I Read, people tend to function better as warriors if they aren't upsessing about their mortality, this doesn't mean they shouldn't do all they can to stay alive of course they should.

But they should always accept that fact that they are already dead. When one puts Mortality in the back of their mind they can better focus on their responsibilities as soldiers.

That's what I've read anyway, then again what do I know?

I also think Stoicism would largely help with stress.

In the moment, yes. After the stressful situation has passed? No. In fact, being stoic is usually one of the quickest ways to drive yourself off the deep end. Half the cases of PTSD in servicemembers anymore are a direct result of them thinking "I can handle it, I don't need help".

China and North Korea, at the time, had thrown away their rights to live under an opressive totalitarian government that would end up killing over 140 million people in China in the long run.
