World Cup of Hockey XX: The Second Lap
by Sven Knutson

The 20th Edition of the World Cup of Hockey means many things. It means that there is going to be hockey played, the quality of which is likely to be good, but I've been wrong before. It also means that we get to use a Roman numeral easier to remember than XIX, if only slightly so. A third meaning is that this edition is a multiple of 10, which I suppose is a big deal. Why? Because 10 is a really, really cool number.

Most importantly, it is Vaugania's second time competing. The Second Lap. Part Deux. The Dyad. Vaugania's Second Time Competing. No matter what you call it, however awesome of a name you come up with, we've still only competed in 10% of WCoH's. But let's not focus on the negative. We'll be at 50% come WCoH XXXVI.

And now that you're sufficiently bored, I suppose I should throw in some stuff that's actually about the possibly good hockey. The nerds here at Vaugania Sports Today have summed up Vaugania's group round below. I hope to see you in Kelssek.

Vilita and Turori [40]: The 36th ranked Golden Eagles kick things off against Vilita and Turori. The Ice Cat Things are closest to Vaugania in the group rank-wise. We expect a hotly contested matchup. With Plutoni and Equestrian States in the group, Vaugania will need all of the W's possibly, especually here.

Savski Venac [105]: Matchday 2 will feature Vaugania facing 105th ranked Savski Venac. Savski Venac is the lowest ranked of all the ranked teams in Group 7. However, underestimating anyone can knock you out of this tournament faster than it takes to do this : :)

Lymantatia [UR]: Lymantatia is one of the two unranked teams in Group 7. They come to Kelssek with only 6 players, but as Svengarda showed us personally in WCoh XIX, small roster doesn't mean they can't stick a boot in your rear end.

Plutoni [2]: Plutoni is one of the top teams in the world behind only Qazox. And they're robots. Remember your paper bag heads. Just in case.

Equestrian States [11]: The Changelings of Equestrian States sit just outside the world's top 10 at 11th. Expect manticores, penguins, elves, polar bears, dragons, pegasi, ponies, lions, tigers, wolves, vampires, and unicorns... plus some people. This is another match to watch out for and it could prove pivotal in decided who moves on and who goes home. They are also unauthorized to be here, as they are inmates, and there is no guarantee that all Vauganian players will leave the ice alive. Though there is only a really slim chance of that happening.

Sitcoutimont [28]: The second to last game played by the Golden Eagles will be against Sitcoutimont. At number 28, they lie 8 places ahead of Vaugania, and with a gap that slim, things are sure to get interesting.

Venasta [UR]: Matchday 7 will close out the group round as Vaugania plays the second of two unranked Group 7 teams. We were not able to gather much information about this team (stinkin' computer virus), but the Golden Eagles will remain on their guard as always.

Tommy's Blog

Torisakia kicks of the World Cup of Hockey 20 tonight with a match against Nru_n, who is unranked. Torisakia has once again been put in a group with nations who seem to be a lot harder to play. Torisakia sits in Group 4 along with [1]Qazox, [21]Michael VII, and Estope[47], with Qazox arguably being Torisakia's toughest opponent. Torisakia's schedule doesn't look too bad once you take a glimpse at it. Only 4 of their opponents are actually ranked, but only 2 are ranked within the top 25. Other than that, Torisakia shouldn't have a problem. All matches will be played in Kelssek, at the respective venues. Tonight's game will be played at Federation Arena, Neorvins, with tomorrow's game against [1]Qazox at Marine Parade Place, Colwyn. We all expect a better run by the Ice Birds this time around. As past history tells us that Torisakia has finished no better than 3rd place in 4 WCoH appearances. Maybe the new guy on the team can show-off some good moves and whatnot. Maybe our new assistant coach and GM will prove better than the last ones, who shouldn't have even been part of the staff. I've heard Daniel Pedersen did a good job at GM with the past few clubs he's been with, but has a miniscule anger problem. That's just what we need, and mad-as-hell GM who will probably have a stroke if we lose a game. In spite of rants and whatnot, I wish the best of luck for every nation in this tournament, and may the best man win. The game tonight against Nru_u is at 8:30pm after the Torisakia-High Heels WC match on TSPN.

Comments:
1. Planters: Hell yeah! Let's kick ass guys!
2. wally: Torisakia is gonna own this tournament!
3. Cheese&Cheddar: I can't believe we got put in another group with Qazox. We can never luck out can we?
4. JoeyKeebler: The fact that there are like 3 UR teams in Group 4 makes this tournament easier. ^_^
5. TwistAnarchY: Anyone need tickets for the game tonight? I have 2 for T$200 a piece, no refunds.

TommysBlog: TwistAnarchY has been banned for soliciting[1 hour ban][Infractions: 2]

6. wally: Haha! Had what coming to him. :P
7. Ripped2D: If we needed tickets, we would have got them already. Plus, a flight to Kelssek is like T$2000.
8. Planters: Haha, yeah. His tickets were probably fake anyways. Why else would he have said "no refunds"? Lol.
9. JohnsonCrandall: Hello my fellow Torisakians. We are glad to be part of the 20th World Cup of Hockey. We hope for the best for everyone who is participating and anyone who is going to a game.

TommysBlog: JohnsonCrandall has been banned for impersonation[1 hour ban][Infractions: 1]

10. wally: Not sure if real Mr. President, or troll. -_-
11. Cheese&Cheddar: Whats with the fools who think we're gonna believe he's the president? Lol it retarded if you ask me. :p

After an exciting year, filled with lockouts, collective barganing agreements, a very short season which has yet to begin, and few changes to the line-up, the Ice Bisons have travelled to Kelssek to attempt to strike fortune in the Twentieth World Cup of Hockey.

A successful third place run in the eighteenth World Cup was followed by a very disappointing quaterfinals departure by the Ice Bisons in the nineteenth. Attributed to a lackluster season in the AHL and the adjustment of the team to the style of play Assistant Coach Kio Huangshun and Head Coach Kad Skirata attempted to shift to, the Ice Bisons return to the ice after a lockout has all but destroyed the 2013.1 season.

"We have been fortunate to practice abroad in Gaoling," spoke Skirata at a pre-tournament press conference. "Luckily, our ade have finally adapted to the new offensive play style we feel will bring victory during the next World Cup. Five tournaments have been attended to by our boys, and it is time we hoist the gold."

As has almost become expected, GyatsoAir --- in partnership with the AHL and the National Sports Council --- have further reduced the prices of airline tickets to Kelssek to facilitate the spectatorship of the nation in Kelssek. In addition, each game the Bisons play in shall be aired on the entire ASPN family of networks (ASPN Prime, ASPN2, AVS, ASPN3, UASPN): All other games shall air on the World Sports Nation and World Sports Nation PLUS, which are being made available on all television and internet-provider services at NO COST from now until the conclusion of the World Cup of Hockey.

GK – 41– SHU Huanguo
Height: 183cm - Weight: 83kg – Age: 41 years old – Hand: L - Team: Unsigned
The ‘Great Wall of Shu’ makes his fifth trip to the international stage as the starting goaltender for the Ice Bisons. After nearly two decades of play in Gyatso-kai followed by three years of play in Cotdelapoms, Shu has officially retired from league-style play for Ice Hockey, even though he has accepted Skirata's offer to stand in the pipes of the National team once more time. While this is most certainly the last time we shall see the Great Wall in goal, we can be certain that it will be an amazing performance.

His style of play has not changed since he’s left the AHL; your classic butterfly goalie with more of the modern profly positioning of his leg pads, Shu had the fastest reflects of any goaltender in the AHL and now has shown the world his skills. However, he is not as agile as men of shorter stature and as such, is known to lose the puck on the rebound as he attempts to 'catch up' to the play… something he still has not worked around while in Montréal.

LD – 32– SATO Sorua
Height: 191cm - Weight: 100kg – Age: 24 years old – Hand: R - Team: Enceri Miners

A strong defenceman who Skirata has favoured since the Third World Junior Hockey Championships, Sato Sorua is a integral piece of the Bisons' defence. Into his second professional career season, Sato continues to serve as a key player for the Miners; being appointed the second assistant captain position after a strong showing in the 2012.2 AHL Playoffs.

A strong defence player, Sato originally played the right side of the ice, however, Coach Skirata feels that a good defenceman can play both sides and as such, Sato has been switched up to test the theory. One of the greatest back-skaters in the game, he has become a regular facet of the Ice Bisons' defence.

RD – 32– Pakku ITO - ASSISTANT CAPTAIN
Height: 193cm - Weight: 108kg – Age: 33 years old – Hand: R - Team: Itakawai Lightning

The seasoned veteran of the Defensive line, Pakku Ito is returning to National Team for the fifth time, and as such, continues to bring his experience to the line.

Great on the backskate and known for perfect poke-checking skills, Ito’s greatest strength is his ability to read the ice and predict the play with an uncanny certainty. He isn’t afraid of getting rough, which with his Mandalorian background, should come at no surprise. After three-peating the Kuruk Cup and repeating the Shield Trophy, Ito has continued to prove he is simply an invaluable asset to any team he is on.

LW - 02 – Arnook ISHIDA
Height: 188cm - Weight: 93kg – Age: 24 years old – Hand: L - Team: Albionpool Oak Leafs (CDP)

A solid winger capable of playing both sides of the ice equally, Arnook Ishida's only weakness is his age; though he was drafted at 18 to the Flames, he has gained little experience in the more-offence-based Fire Division and, after four years in Cotdelapoms, his skill-set has begun to show a development.

Even after the Oak Leafs failed to secure the Dumas Cup, Ishida remains in the lineup. Sure, he is soon to enter the prime of his career, with many teams here in Gyatso-kai dying to bring back one of their own. Even Makapu --- the team which drafted Ishida at 18 and the one he left for Cotdelapoms --- are trying to arrange their payroll to make room for the Ishida Buyback, should the option come on the table.

C – 04 – Hakoda ISHII – CAPTAIN
Height: 193cm - Weight: 94kg – Age: 29 years old – Hand: R - Team: Itakawai Lightning

The star forward of the seven-time Kuruk Cup Champions, Hakoda Ishii returns to lead the Ice Bisons in yet another international tournament.

A strong centre, Ishii is able to coordinate many a great highlight goal: With tremendous vision and terrific passing skills, he is the best two-way player in Gyatso-kai. Looking to do even better this time around, you can be sure that Ishii shall light the lamp at least once every game. Having broken the Fifty International Goal stat in the final game of World Cup of Hockey XIX, Ishii has continued to strive for excellence during the off-season, and now looks forward to striking back in the twentieth edition.

RW – 08–Wad'e TAY'HAAI
Height: 183cm - Weight: 87kg – Age: 24 years old – Hand: R - Team: Itakawai Lightning

Drafted by the Itakawai Lightning after a strong first World Cup performance, Wad'e Tay'haai returns to the first line for the Twentieth World Cup of Hocket. Having yet another season under his belt, Tay'haai looks to continue developing and, with the prime of his career just over the horizon, now is the time to perfect the skills needed to succeed in this game.

A very strong youthful skater, the fact that Tay’haai garnished a position on the first line is a testament to his strength. A powerful right-winger, his skill in the faceoff is impressive, having yet to lose a faceoff in his entire ACSA career.

LD – 18 – KO Piandao
Height: 188cm - Weight: 95kg – Age: 29 years old – Hand: R - Team: St-Fortunat Saints(CDP)

Incredibly accurate with his passing and known for his interception skills, Ko has seen some great development while he played in Cotdelapoms. His strength is still one of his greatest assets, an asset he is not afraid to use on the ice; known for putting more than his fair share of men into the boards, Ko garnishes at least two penalties a game for his roughness... Something he is proud of. Many analysis in Cotdelapoms feel that he is simply too good for the Saints, but Ko's devotion and loyalty mean he will not leave them any time soon unless he is physically kicked out the door.

When asked to describe Ko, Coach Skirata compared him to his namesake, the dao --- or sword--- in that he teters on the edge of a finely-honed blade, and just a simple push will slice you in half: Ko is known to divide players with his impressive size and muscle pucks away from the foes before passing them off to an open player. While his shot power is weaker than most players, his accuracy is second only to five-time All-Star Shot Contest winner Hakoda Ishii.

Height: 183cm - Weight: 88kg – Age: 31 years old – Hand: L - Team: St-Fortunat Saints(CDP)

Playing in the AHL for four seasons and then another five in the CHL, Feng Tao has seen some success in the CHL as of late; with the trade to the St-Fortunat Saints last season, Feng has been pleased to have been re-united with Ko, whome he played with for three season at Omashu. The chemistry is still there, and the coaches of St-Fortuant have been very happy with their acquisition. Feng is known for being a 'double threat", equally able to pull back and block any pass made by the opposition, only to turn that pass around and snipe a shot into goal.

While is backskating is impressive, Feng has struggled with the switch ever since a torn Achielles tendon weakened his right ankle four seasons ago: Many blame his less-than-stellar performance in the WCoH15 on that injury and he has continued the conditioning of that ankle to increase its strength, In addition, he heavily favours the foreshot, almost never taking a backhand to the puck and nearly always shoots from the right side of the ice: Though his style is predictable, the speed and finesse he gives the shot makes the end-result unpredictable.

LW – 26 – Walon VAU
Height: 182cm - Weight: 88kg – Age: 23 years old – Hand: R - Team: Itakawai Lightning

Drafted by the Itakawai Lightning in the second round during the 2012.2 AHL Draft, Walon Vau had an incredible two seasons before the 2013.1 Lockout; having won multiple awards, Vau has proven he is much more than the collegiate background to Kal Skirata.

Given his strong backhanded shots, Vau is known for his trademark backward's skating goals at KSU; sending a puck on his left side while skating backwards at the last minute. A little childish in Skirata's opinion, but none the less, it garnishes the support of the fans who always enjoy a little showmanship. After spending the last few months working with both Tay'haai and Ishii, Vau is beginning to make improvements in his form.

After a mid-season trade to Kyrimorut, Hei Hayate managed to help the Ramikade advance into the Playoffs after securing a first-place position in the regular season. His natural leadership skills, combined with such a fiery charisma, makes Hei a great leader, though to Skirata, he needs a few more years experience before he gets to wear the C.

A very strong centre, much like his first-line counterpart, Hei is known for his strength at coordinating the forward line to execute many a great plays. With excellent vision and adequate stick handling, Hei has earned the respect of his team while maintaining the strength and form of players much younger than him.

RW - 44 – Kal SKIRATA
Height: 194cm - Weight: 89kg – Age: 22 years old – Hand: L - Team: Montréal Cotdelapomais (CDP)

A natural talent, Kal Skirata's skill comes as no surprise, given the history of the Skirata Clan in the Avatarian Sports. However, while the skill Skirata possesses is valued, his experience in international play is low, which is reflected in his nerves as he skates on the ice. Quick to act and slow to think, Kad'buir hopes to break his son of this habit in the weeks leading to the World Cup. He is a strong forward skater, with impressive vision capable of seeing the entire ice and analysing threats; however, Skirata will need to settle into the ice before he jumps up the roster.Returning to his original position of right-wing, whereas in tournaments past he skated on the left side, Skirata is paired

While originally suspected to play his first professional game in Gyatso-kai, Skirata would stun the Republics by signing a two-year contract with the Montréal Cotdelapomais, taking his amazing talent and youth to the CHL. While some back at home feel Skirata betrayed his family with the move, however, his father even came out in support of his son's decision; stating the move would introduce the younger Skirata to more styles of play and gain him 'an invaluable experience'. Nonetheless, in his very first season in the CHL, Skirata would come away with not only the Lapointe Award for the Best Rookie, he was able to take the Cotdelapomais to the Dumas Cup final in which he would face off against Shu and the Royals. A touching moment after the final game was when Shu and Skirata came together in the last line, and gave each other a solemn bow before embracing one another...

Perhaps there is no animosity afterall...

A massive man on the ice, Iwai Itsuki has earned the nickname “The Unagi” after the legendary sea monsters who live around Kyoshi Island. Fast and a hard-hitter, Iwai knows how to use his size to usher an opponent into the boards with little to no chance of their ‘survival’.

With a lack-luster style of passing, Iwai must rely on his right defensive partner to get the rock from opponents while he muscles them out of possession. His shooting skills are weak, however, the speed and agility he possess make up for the lack in offensive skills.

While many experts at the WJHC saw a great player in the making with Jiang Tujing, Coach Skirata saw a player in need of work. “Much like a sword”, spoke Skirata, “Jiang needs to be sharpened and honed to a sharp point. I see in him much that I saw in (Ito Pakku) many years ago… and hopefully he can come to age much the same.”

With his size, one would expect such a player to be a physical beast with little else to go for him. Instead, what you get with Jiang is a defenceman whose speed rivals the best centres, whose accuracy rivals the best snipers and whose vision is almost unmatched. However, as Skirata said, he needs work until he becomes a viable option on the first line. Luckily for Jiang, he was drafted in 2012.1, declaring a season early, and was drafted in the fourth round by Kyoshi, where we will work under the tutelage of Fukui Oyaji; one of the AHL's greatest defencemen in history.

Kima Yagone is a puzzle in and of himself; with the body of a defenceman, one would expect to see Kima shoving players into the boards and checking his way to victory. Instead, we see Kima skating around the net, poking pucks through the nets with effortless ability. His speed is unmatched on the third line and his handling skills is on par with the best of his team.

However, for a player of his age, he has been passed between five different teams in five years and has yet to settle in age. Instead, his maturity off the ice is lacking as is his ‘control’. Skirata had a hard time reigning in Kima’s mouth and attitude last Championship and with the change from right to left, Skirata had his hands full with Kima. However, with time, even the wild stallion of Kima Yagone was broken gently, and now, he is coming into his own...

Having worked his way up the line in Republic City as he gained the Second Assistant Captain position following the injury of Olof Kolosji, Toru Akiak continues to better his game. However, with such developments small in contrast to those of the younger players, he has yet to shine any brighter; what he needs is a great defining moment, one in which he can show Skirata that he is meant to be a star player.

Being able to do everything well, but nothing great is something which is bothersome to many a coachers; for a player who was drafted three years and has been on two teams in a single year, the gift that Coach Antinanco gave him in the place of 2nd Asst. Captain was in the hopes of giving him a solid future as a Captain; after four seasons without a Captain, many on the Caps fan base want to see a new star rise from the ashes of Shu's departure.

Coming from a renowned Mandalorian Youth Hockey Development Academy in Keldabe, Jaster Gilamij played his collegiate hockey in Kibago under a student of Skiratas, Mos Shilosa. This resulted in Gilamij developing a very 'Mandalorian'-style of play; far more adept at sniping the puck from the blue line then at bringing it into the crease, Gilamij is still a little rough on the edges to take a lead position on the Bisons. Quick to draw, quick to shoot, Gilamij will one day be seen as a great player. For now, he is average in all categories...

The Daily Sheep

Birolika have a lot to prove
Birolika 1–0 Qasaqi

Birolika are certainly under more pressure than most other second time entrants and it could possibly lead to abject failure. The reason they are under so much pressure of course is the fact that they are current world champions and unlike other world champions they never really had to work their way up and just sort of, you know, won it on what looks like luck. Now of course has come the time to prove that it wasn't a massive fluke, a task which most of the team doesn't wish to face as they enjoyed revelling in their own glory and don't really want it stripped away. The thing is if we don't make it far it will show that really Birolika never really deserved the title and it'll be like we never won it at all. The time to panic however hasn't arrived yet as the group stage should be simple enough to navigate (being the second seeds and all), our major opposition in this group would be Mohawk Clans (who we beat in the Qualifying play-offs last time, this might lead to a rivalry forming which pundits are rather excited about), although Mapletish will provide a challenge. Overall our group isn't as challenging as last time which contained Qazox (current world number one), Western Cuba (who were also strong), Audioslavia and ASMV who were returning legends of hockey. This time we face only three ranked teams, two of which are below us, and we also face four unranked sides. Overall I predict a good showing in the group stage and we might just come out of it with around 15 points off 7 games, leaving us in first or second place.

The campaign started off last night in a location that we, one can't be bothered to work out because it's early, and two can't figure out because the Birolik education system is in a shambles, so basically we don't know where it was. Either way it wasn't too exciting, in the first period Birolika seemed to be finding their feet a bit and Qasaqi seemed intimidated by the current world champions and playing against them on foreign ground (possibly in the city of Latrobe). The second period saw Birolika start to exert pressure with Artem Rilley and Mark Pelav proving their reputation upfront is earned with a barrage of shots, however they failed to put in a goal in that half. The Birolik fans who had packed out the stands finally found their voice and it sounded truly like a home match, their cheers rallied their team on to finally put one in with a surprising goal from youth superstar Ian Yoff (tipped off to be this cups Artem Rilley) after he received a pass off the wing from Malton and managed to slot it past the keeper. The goal was met by the cheer of Birolik fans who had come expecting a few more goals, but then again Birolika are known for low scoring games and squeezing out a win.

Artem Rilley was interviewed after the match by our reporter and when asked if he was disappointed at not scoring in the first match he responded: "I don't mind, what is important is that we started the campaign with a win. It doesn't really matter that it was low scoring either, we showed a great amount of composure and we controlled the game which is what counts." Elsewhere in the group Mapletish and Mohawk Clans failed to be defeated in a shock result leaving the task up to us. Up next however we have Mohawk Clans which will be the key game in our group stage campaign, if we win we might well win the group and it might make going through a lot easier for us.
With the abolition of private property, then, we shall have true, beautiful, healthy Individualism. Nobody will waste his life in accumulating things, and the symbols for things. One will live. To live is the rarest thing in the world. Most people exist, that is all.

The Retirement of Hindmarsh Yoon: A Hockey Great

Hindmarsh Yoon's retirement Speech

There has been many rumours associated with my retirement,as well as my particiation in the. National team's victory against Valanora tonight.
I am here to announce that despite many pleadings of people, I have officially retired. The Royal Kingdom of Quebec's last game against Valanora was officially my last game for my career as a hockey player. For many weeks, people have been and will be wondering why Hindmarsh Yoon has decided to retire. Well, I have done this on my gut reaction and felt that it was the right time to retire.

During my career, I was a soldier of fortune. Playing in the Quebec Nordiques for 19 seasons, I have won 9 Prenneau Cups, as well as 81 personal, team and league achievement awards. However, It would have never come to fruition if there weren't great players, coaches and staff by my side. I was fortunate, to play with some of the greatest people, both as players and people, in my lives. As you know, you cannot live by yourself in life and you always need someone to help and guide you to your own success. I was of no exception and would like to say round of thanks to them before retiring.

First, I would like to say with great honour, thank you to all my groupmates for both the Québec Nordiques QHL Team and TRKQ Ice Knights National Team. My success would have been nothing if not for their contribution to team anr my life.

Secondly,I would like to thank all my opponents here tonight, who made my playing experience exciting and joyful.

Then,I would like to say thank you with sense of gratitude to my coaches and team staff, especially to Mr. Barry Jones, my high school team coach, Soo Myeon Beauharnois, former head coach of the Québec Nordiques and Mr. Beaulieu up here tonight.
Finally,I would like to have a great round of thank you to all my family members: mum, dad, my uncles and aunts, grandparents, my wife Erin and my three kids Dae Joon, Connor McCulloch and Laurent.

For now,I'll say farewell to my most favourite game, something that was my job for last 18 years. But, Do not worry, because It's not the eternal farewell from each other.
Thank you.
-------------------------------------------------

When the retirement was announced,The whole nation got into the surprise and were shocked. He was one of the players that the nation will see only once in 50 years. His physicality(he is only 5'7), talented passing and goal scoring skills, as well as cheerful personality and many other factors have in turn, made him an eternal superstar.
Within hours after the announcement, the reactions from the public were rather shocked. The newspapers nationwide will have their front page with the news on the headline.

Coach Beaulieu was utterly surprised as he thought that Mr. Yoob would play for another 5 to 10 seasons of his career.
"Obviously, no one expected of that. He was a man with great skills and strong, long-enduring health. That's what made it different." He said it in the announcement.
Colm Strojovic, his league teammate and a first-line offence, answered it mich differently. He said that it symbolises the 'change of generations' that led QHL and not only that, he always liked to play in top shape.
"That's probably why he decided to retire." Said Mr. Strojovic, "He wanted to retore in glory and without regrets while still at the top of this mountain of Ice Hockey."

The official retirement ceremony will be held in its next game, against the unranked Dayota.

by Lomuno Nurakarowanapoi

Pukolo Wonulukapai notched his first career hat trick, and Maklohi Vai won their opening game of the 20th World Cup of Hockey. Wonulukapai played strong throughout the game, often pushing opponents out of the way to get down towards the puck and to the goal. At 7:32 in the first period, he took a pass at about mid-ice, quickly put a move on his defender, and then sprinted down the left side before launching a wrist shot into the upper left hand part of the net.

The next goal came at 15:53 in the second period, off of a rebound. After two shots by his teammates, and subsequent stops by the goalie, Wonulukapai was able to tip in a wobbling puck from midair into the goal. "It was just bang-bang out there," said Wonulukapai. "I saw the puck hit off the goalie's mask, and I just thought I could get my stick on it. Worked out after all."

The final goal of the hat trick came at 14:19 in the third period, on a 5-on-3 power play. After two consecutive hooking calls were made against Homelands players, the Vaians were poised for an attack. After the puck went into the corner on a fast break, Wonulukapai's fellow forward Tolu Muwanolarapoi chased it down and centered it, where Wonulukapai was able to get a one on one and convert.

Vaian fans were pleased to get a win, especially after a dismal showing in World Cup 19, where there was little joy to be had. "It's nice to see a good performance," said fan Numo Korunawolonopai. "It's good to get off on the right foot, to be able to have success early on. We've got a tough group, so hopefully this can carry over."
"For the glory of our people, we govern our nation freely. For the glory of Polynesia, we help and strengthen our friends. For the glory of the earth, we do not destroy what it has bestowed upon us."

Javier Leath lay back on the train as they whooshed forwards. In front of him was a collection of paper--printed out fan mail. It felt strange in his hands, and he'd blushed a little as he'd printed it at the hotel with the local fans standing around--environmentally unsound or whatever.

Still, it felt amazing to be on the national team. Even better than when the Bloodhounds had made the playoffs, and that itself had been spectacular. They'd been flying (or falling) under the radar, with one of the national team players incorrectly listed as a member of the Bloodhounds when anyone who half-followed the pro team could have explained otherwise. At last, some recognition.

"Wuzzat?" asked a tired-looking Kevin; this account has been somewhat standardized from the contemporary Plutonian dialect, though to a certain extent, Kevin's exhausted slurring can't really be helped.

"Letters," said Javier.

"Figured that," said Kevin, plucking one from the middle of the pile and pulling. The top half flipped upside-down; Javier snatched them out of the air and stacked them on top of the others before glaring at Kevin, who was still unfolding the one he'd grabbed at random.

"Dear Mr. Leath," he read, "blah blah blah blah blah blahblahblah."

"Thank you for that helpful summary." Javier cracked his knuckles and brought his palms back behind his head, leaning back, "I would never have figured that out on my own."

"...do you have any plans for after your playing career, I think you're already a great celebrity and you could make a big difference not just in Char but central Plutoni, blahdiblahdiblah, you've just gotten started, and they want you to think about retirement already? Is this some kind of joke?"

"Well, different teams have different turnover rates."

"Are you actually going to read all of those?"

"I was planning on it, but maybe I'll just get you to summarize them if they're all going to be this helpful."

"Ha."

"Do you have a better idea?"

"You can watch movies and TV on this thing," Kevin pointed to the touchscreen in front of him, "seems like a lot better idea. Kelssek culture."

Javier raised one eyebrow.

"Oh, come on." Kevin switched on the screen. "Here we are, excellent."

"That's gonna be your post-career plan? Touchscreen advertisements?"

"It could be profitable."

"Could be. Sure."

[OOC: Apologies for the tardiness, all]
FEDERATION OF POLAR ISLANDSTATES ROSTER
"THE FIRS"

Ice Hockey in the Federation, for all its climate may hint at a national obsession, still sits below football in terms of popularity, vying with the rugby codes, veggball, and handball when it comes to the 'honour' of being the nation's 'second sport'. However, thanks to performances that continue to surpass expectations at previous world cups as well as victories for Hounds of Juura and Invermuir Eagles in the Champions Hockey League, it's appeal is growing faster than any other sport at the moment. The NPHL has proved a success so far since its foundation, and the traditional heartlands of the sport in the east and south are starting to spread towards its other hotbed in Kuril Arkhipelago.

Polarians are a warm bunch, every as warm as the land they habit is cold, and are ruthlessly efficient and athletic almost naturally. They are pacifists by nature, and will rarely start fights. This doesn't mean they won't fight back, of course... Fierce rivalries between the more hot-headed members of the squad from the bigger domestic teams, such as Invermuir Eagles and Hounds of Juura, or Matua Ice Wolves and Fjorhorgen Generals, can sometimes spill out onto the ice, and inter-squad arguments are something that coaches Idris Heliokomman and Nils Freidrichson have to deal with on a more frequent basis. Inspirational leader Radoslav Invermuir could be one of the best Polarians to have ever graced the ice however, and his presence often quells any disputes, though this will surely be his last WC campaign for the Firs. The Firs have decent pedigree in the competition, having finished as runners-up before, though last cycle wasn't much of a success. The shoot-out defeat in the final match of the series against Cotdelapoms in WCoH XVIII still stings though, and the Firs are out to right that wrong.

Havl Makes Strong Start

Vickery, Kelssek – After a strong debut in World Cup XIX, Havl's young squad returns mostly intact with eyes on hockey's biggest prize. "We've learned a lot from last time," says team captain Justin Donndelinger. The Capital City native will join a number of familiar faces in the twentieth World Cup in Kelssek, including HHL All-Stars Davis Rich, Brian Beierle, and newcomers Rufio Dellucci and Juha Mikinen.

In today’s game against Mashiki, goaltender Davis Rich got the nod despite rumors that teammate Lance Wall might earn the first start of the season. Wall, the all-star goaltender for the HHL Solo Cup runners-up Davenport Pilots, has accepted his role as backup ‘tender with grace. “It takes some adjusting, sitting on the bench [and] watching,” said Wall before the game. “But we’re all here to play as a team, and my job has been to support [Rich] and be ready to go in.”

Rich was strong in his first start of the tournament, allowing two goals on 25 shots. The Davenport native held off 23 shots from a Mashiki squad that is making its World Cup of Hockey debut. “The score doesn’t show it, but they’re a strong team,” said Havl captain Justin Donndelinger after the game. “We kept them under 30 shots on goal, and that’s the big key to the win today.” Although the Mashiki crew is unranked, they have shown a strong ability to score on the powerplay. Both of their goals came while Havl players were on the penalty kill. Coach Lindberg made it clear that Havl will focus on reducing penalties.

The win today brings Havl even with pool leaders Polar Islandstates and WCoH XIX rivals Soviet Canuckistan in wins and goals scored. As it stands, Polar Islandstates wins the tiebreaker based on their 6-0 head-to-head goal differential. “One game at a time,” said Lindberg in the post-game conference, and it seems his players have taken that mantra to heart. “Every faceoff, every possession, every defensive play matters,” said defenseman Brian Beierle. “That’s the difference between how we’re playing in the World Cup and how we’ve played in the past.”

Offense has been the primary focus of this familiar Havl team. After a loss to Byfugland in the Round of 16 in World Cup XIX, Havl has vowed to increase its scoring power. “Our defense is traditionally very solid,” said Donndelinger. “But we’re trying to power up our offense, because that’s what’s winning us games.” But the emphasis on offense hasn’t stopped All-Star defenseman Brian Beierle from dropping to the ice to stop shots. The Davenport native made a highlight-worthy stop on an odd-man rush early in the third period that had Northlands Coliseum cheering. "Even when it's not close, you [have to] go after every shot," said Beierle.

During a powerplay early in the first period, Beierle scored his first goal of the tournament on a soft pass from team captain Justin Donndelinger. The Capital City Captains centerman had a banner game, scoring two goals and earning four points on two assists. "It was just one of those special games," said Donndelinger. "Passes were lining up just right, and goals were happening." Ilium Winterhawks winger Rufio Dellucci marked his World Cup debut by putting Havl on the scoreboard with a clean goal from the left slot early in the first period. Juha Mikinen (Union Aeros) and Brian Demerson (Capital City Captains) also notched goals to earn Havl a 6-2 win.

Coverage of World Cup of Hockey XIX will continue live on HTVM Monday evening when Havl will face off against Hydronium.

3 MONTHS EARLIER
MT. DOSTOYEVSKY, VAUGANIA

Tomas Alexander was never one for coffee. To him, it tasted like hot water with dirt particles floating around in it. So rather, he made hot chocolate. He ripped off the top half of a powder packet and poured it into his mug. The mug was placed under the brewer and with the push of a button, hot water poured into the mug.

Tomas took this time to admire the mountains and the sun setting upon them. You can afford mountain lodges and sunsets like this one when you have a career as lucrative as he. The sound of the water stopped and Tomas returned to the kitchen. He fished through the silverware drawer for a long spoon, and upon finding one, stirred his drink together. Marshmallows were the next step to this sweet concoction. The white, fluffy snacks poured into the brown. At last, his drink could be enjoyed.

The 45 year old stood before a large window viewing the sun setting on this day. Motionless he stood, except for the intermittent sip of cocoa. He knew the sun was also setting on his career. 27 years he'd been at this. The countless hours, the adoring fans, the championships. All coming to an end. This was the sport he loved, ate, breathed. And now was the time to walk away.

The pictures on the wall stared him down. The pucks from his major milestones on display. His 100th goal. 3rd year in hockey. The 21 year old in the picture had a broad, jovial smile. One still possessed by Tomas today, only it was now worn. His bright blond hair was in a mess and he had bright blue, piercing eyes. Eyes that have now lost their sheen. Age progressed with each picture. 200 goals, 300 goals, 400, 500, 600. Older every time. The same smile, but eyes not quite as piercing, skin not quite as fair, aging every single time. This was the end.

He returned to the window. The sun had not yet set on this day. So Tomas would give his career one last hurrah. One more run. One more chance at ultimate glory.

PRESENT DAY
KELSSEK

Tomas Alexander groaned as he sat in an ice bath. He was an old man playing a younger man's game. The 1-0 loss to Vilita and Turori had left his bpdy incredibly sore.

Jurgis Streit pulled up a chair by his captain. "What happend to ya, Tomas?" the 30 year old asked.

"Sore. Sorer than I've been in a while. But soon, I won't have to worry about this anymore," replied Tomas.

"Are telling me you're retiring?"

"I suppose I am. I'm 45 years old. An old man by hockey standards. I can't keep going out there day after day."

"C'mon, man. We need you. I don't care if you have to use a cane to get around, we still want you on the ice."

"Unfortunately, my family doesn't and I don't think my body does either. Jurgis, you wear an A. You're next in line to wear the C. Wear it with pride. I'll still hang around after I've retired. I'll find a way. Don't think you've seen the last of me."

Liventia's home games are normally played at the Michael Harley National Indoor Arena in City Centre. However, as City Centre has won the hosting rights to stage the next Winter Olympics, the arena is being refurbished and is out of use. Therefore Liventia will play all home qualification games at the James Thornton Centre (cap. 22,000) in Neverend. The Centre hosted women's ice hockey (and men's hockey playoffs) during the previous Winter Olympics.

Tommy's Blog

Torisakia got off to a good start in the tournament, with a 3-2 win over Nru_n. The first period was quite good, Torisakia got out to a 2-0 lead early. Alexei Borodin scored a quick slap-shot goal at 6:13 to pull out to an early lead. The Nru_n offense seemed weary during the first period, they couldn't hold onto the puck at all. Their defense must've been slow to start, because they didn't even put an effort in defending. That's probably why they gave up those 2 goals early on. The 2nd period was a different story though. Our defense got out to a slow start as they gave up an Nru_n goal within the first minute of the 2nd period. The rest of the 2nd period went by fast as no other goals were scored. However, there were a few good fights and some nasty brawling. As we went into the 3rd, I'm sure every fan was thinking we'd be giving up this game as history tells us. Our offense got slower and slower as the game went on as did the defense. At 17:59 in the 3rd, that damn LWM for Nru_n snuck one past Kevin and got the game tied up with 2 minutes left. As time ran out, I thought along with many other fans that this game would be going into OT, and history tells us that we do horrible under pressure in OT. However, I don't think the offense agreed with us. With only 8 seconds left to go, that new RDM Mathias Kristiansen scored that game-winner from mid-range. It must've been great for his confidence. We had finally pulled out the win, but what worries me is how this performance will affect us in tonight's key game against [1]Qazox. While it should be a close one, I still fear that we'll slip up and it'll cost us big time. I shouldn't worry too much though. I think our offensive power shouldn't let us down. Especially in a key game like this. The game is at Marine Parade Place, Colwyn at 8:30pm on TSPN2. If you're going to the game, make sure to get plenty of pictures for the site! I'd greatly appreciate it. If you're not going to the game like me, be sure to catch the game on TSPN2 tonight to see the action. I was informed earlier that tonight's game will be a national broadcast unlike other games. Expect us to play our hearts out and hopefully we'll walk away with a win. Be prepared for a long-page rant if we lose. Good luck everyone!

Comments:
1. Ripped2D: I was impressed by Kristiansen's performance last night in his debut with the team. Good job man!
2. wally: I watched the game last night, except my TV reception was bad. Damn BT&T Averse. It sucks.
3. hockeymask17: I'm going to the game tonight. It should be a good one, or at least sounds like it.
4. peanutjuice: I wanted to go to the game, but my budget won't let me.
5. Bear4KL: Besides an offensive performance, our defense really needs to step up tonight. If not, we're doomed.
6. wally: Can't figure out why we don't utilize our defensive opportunities and turn them into goals. It just baffles the social media.
7. UmustDie45: Speaking of social media, while they're hating on Johnny-Boy, they're loving Kristiansen. Just goes to show you who the mainstream follows.
8. DanielRooseOfficial: Rumors spreading around that Alexei Borodin was offered an endorsement with Nike. TSPN's Adam Sullivan reports.

Managed by Minister of Sports in Byfugland, Hank Boudreau

Line 1
LW: Vyacheslav Dostoyevski (A) #71- The greatest hockey player in Byfugland History, Dostoyevski owns every record in the book, and there is no sign of him slowing down.
C: Casey Byrant #5- Genetically altered from birth to be great at hockey, Byrant and his twin, Matt, are clones of hockey players from rival nation, THRILLEDGE.
RW: Matt Byrant #27- Byrant and his twin were part of a top-secret coup of THRILLEDGE's genetic research facilities. Together they are a near unstoppable force. They weave and pass with flawless precision

Line 2
LW: Erik Commodore #44- A pass-first player. Solid on the forecheck and a good physical presence. When paired with scorers like Shelby and Holden, Commodore becomes very effective.
C: Daniel Shelby #82- A finesse player, a tremendous scorer. Shelby is small and quick, a good balance to the bulky Commodore. He can weave through defenses and is good at taking the puck away.
RW: Phoenix Holden #67- Holden is an amazing player with a mysterious background. No one is sure why he refuses to remove his shades at any point. Quickly rising through the ranks as one of the nation's elite players, Holden is a finesse player with a wicked wrist shot.

Line 3
LW: Garret O'Sears #9- The fastest skater in the Byfugland Hockey League. He has a weak slapshot but his puckhandling coupled with his speed make him dangerous. He can slice through any defensive scheme
C: Fyodor Makarov #91- Makarov has proven himself to be a solid presence in the lineup. He is quick, but strong. Has a lot to bring to the table.
RW: Rodrigo Gregorio #23- A speedy player who, when paired with O'Sears and Makarov, completes the fastest line Byfugland has to offer.

Line 4:
LW: Cliff Soricelli #74- Solid player on the penalty kill. Perhaps the toughest player to ever skate on Byfuglian ice. He is getting old, so his time is limited.
C: Colton Reed #25- Reed has a deadly combination of speed and strength. He doesn't score often but generates plenty of opportunities
RW: Albert Turziano #62- Completes the toughest line on the squad. Is a powerful presence down low.

Defense 1
Justin Byfuglien (C) #3- As supreme ruler of Byfugland and as one of the more talented offensive defensemen in the league, Byfuglien leads his squad on the powerplay on the point, as a terrific passer and solid shooter.
Alexandros Ivanov #6- Ivanov has the hardest slapshot in Byfugland, registering at 110 MPH. He is, however, getting slower as the years go by.

Def. 2
Jarret Backman #55- Very good shot blocker and has a terrific poke check. Great at defending p
Forrest Mackins #49- Mackins, another shutdown d-man, is a hard checker and an excellent player along the boards. Mackins and Backman have established themselves as the most impermeable defensive pairing around.

Def. 3
Crusher McPersoncrusher #98- Back for his third year of hockey, he is a MMA fighter-turned-hockey player that is strictly used as an enforcer. Limited offensively.
Ryan Linderhagen #66- With a wicked slapshot and a better uppercut, Linderhagen is both a talented skater and fighter. He stands at 6'6", hence his number. He completes the enforcer-pairing of the Jets.

Goalies
Ryan Underhill #35- A fan favorite in Byfugland, Underhill has become one of the best goalies in the world after his dominant performance last year. Fans love to sing the "Underdog" theme to his name.
Scotty Carps #30- A hot prospect at the goalie position.

Powerplay 1

And they're off!

PEMBINA, KELSSEK- An astonishing 6-0 win by the Canuckistani national team against Hydronium to kick off WCOH 20 in Kelssek. The scoring kicked off in the first period with a beautiful slapshot from Alexander Langdon at 3:59. A second goal didn't take much longer with a beautiful breakaway goal by Polomaniuk with a assist from van Key at 3:24 to end the period with the Canuckistanis ahead by 2. The second period followed much of the same rhythm as the first with another two goals from Farnsworth and Polomaniuk at 17:28 and 6:37 respectively to put the Canuckistani ahead by 4 at 40 minutes of play. The last period sealed the Canuckistani win with a goal at 13:24 by Polomaniuk to give him the hat-trick. The last goal of the game at 5:30 was by Sijeppe to secure the 6-0 blowout by Team Canuckistan.

After the game we interviewed Coach Vanier Oloski and he stated to us, "It was a great game, can't complain about a 6-0 win. Kudos to our goalie for the shutout there. I think tomorrow's game against Polar Islandstates should be interesting, they're ranked higher than us but our win against Valanora shows that anything can happen with our team." So tune in to the game tomorrow with any of our affiliates and now here's our MD1 group analysis.

Polar Islandstates [8]- A strong team that should do very well in the tournament. They play on the offence so it will be interesting to see how we'll fair against them. Expect them to make the playoffs.

Havl [24]- We played against them last time and they gave us a run for our money. They should be an excellent team and will challenge us quite a bit. They're quite an offensive team so expect some high-scoring match-ups between them and us based on their 6-2 win today.

Free South Califas [43]- A fairly good team but we've never faced them so it's hard to tell what will happen. If we use statistics alone, we have the advantage but if they play strong enough anything will happen. One thing to note is that their coaches are elected by the players so it will be interesting to see what happens on the bench.

Gallund [99]- The Grizzly Bruins, maybe not a team that will maul us on our good days but one of the better teams in the group nonetheless. They managed to give FSC a good game and FSC is ranked 56 ranks ahead so anything can happen with this team. They play more offence than defence, a bit like the Canuckistani team. It'll be interesting to see what they do

Mashiki [UR], Hydronium [UR], Paxomnua [UR]- Hard to tell with these teams since there's absolutely no data on them. They all got a good trashing today from the group's better teams so it'll be interesting to tell what will happen with them.

In conclusion, this will be an interesting group and many of the teams play on the offence so expect high-scoring matches between teams.

.:: HOME Locker Room, Arèna de la Pacifique, Langlois, Beaulac, Kelssek ::.
2201 hours local time, 06 January 2013.1

Well, a win is a win...

Hakoda Ishii dropped his gloves into his locker, as a warrior dropping his gauntlets after a great battle. He was exhausted --- more exhausted than he had been in games past --- and it worried him.

Sure, he was just twenty-seven years of age; a relative young gun in terms of his team. Yet, his body was sure feeling its age as of late. It was more than likely the lockout; the AHL had been in a lockout due to not only collective bargaining agreements between the league and the player unions, but many of the arenas' had expired contracts waiting to be discussed. As such, it had been weeks since Ishii had even stepped foot on the ice before Skirata called him to the National Team. He still remembered the first time he tried to skate at Skirata's complex...

Complex... the man had a bloody ice rink AT. HIS. HOUSE.

Ishii looked up, seeing the rest of his team filter into the locker room. The collective sound of gear hitting the ground was a cacophony of joy to Ishii, who almost relished the sound. He could see the rest of the first line looking to the second strings, who were then staring at the third liners. The last man in was, as always, Shu Huanguo. An impressive man at over forty-years-of-age, Ishii still felt intimidated by Shu every time he walked into a room.

"Hakoda... Good game," spoke Shu has he took his usual seat on the left side of the locker room. His pads still on, it gave him a quaint little arm rest to sit while the awaited their "debriefing" from Head Coach Skirata.

Kad Skirata... Kad'buir... Papa Kad...

The doors to the locker room swung open, and in walked the man himself. Ishii had to smile, admiring how nearly every time he thought of Skirata, in he would come to the room; almost as if he could sense his men's thoughts. His suit was a rich velvet black, demarked by the brief glimpses of white beneath it. In the middle, a rich red tie laid perfectly in center, and Skirata looked ever more the part of a rich entrepreneur. Instead, he was more akin to a General; the suit, his uniform.

"Congratulations, ad'ike, on your first official win of the 2013.1 season."

The clapping that followed was interupted by brief coughs and laughs.

"While I am not fond of our lone given goal, but that is not any one's fault. Those Shadowbournites were quick on the draw off that first puck drop... and maybe we were still a little rusty."

"Regardless, with the rest of the group being shutouts, we are situated in the second place of the group. Sure, it is only the first game, but with tomorrow's match against Mantwenic followed by two straight days of bye, we need to start off on the right foot."

"We need to come out against the only top Twenty team in our group and strike them hard. They came out, and shut out Seventeen Syllables for three goals. Now, why is that?"

The room was silent at first, with just the sounds of shifting pads interrupting the awkward pause.

"They wanted it. Sure, we wanted to win. Sure, we wanted to take a lead on the very first day and prove to our group --- and perhaps the rest of the world --- that we deserve to be amongst the greats of Valanora, Qazox, and those damn Plutoni robots. And by all haran, we do deserve it."

The men were just quiet, each one looking around. Ishii faced forward, posture ram-rod and as straight as any. He often wondered why Skirata said what he said... After all, the Ice Bisons did just manage to win an impressive game against a relatively unknown team on the first official game as a team this year.

But he is the coach... and he will do what he does...

They weren't pretty, but the job got done.

GAME 1:

OCS 2 2 0 4
QZX 2 3 1 6

GOALS
OCS: 5:11 1st
QZX: Morris 7:45 1st
QZX: Mzachinov 13:05 1st
OCS: 17:04 1st PP
QZX: Mzachinov (2) 1:45 2nd
OCS: 5:10 2nd
OCS: 15:45 2nd
QZX: McAdams 16:24 2nd
QZX: Ulster 18:47 2nd
QZX: Morris (2) 19:33 3rd (EN)

The Old Confederate States scored first and lead 4-3 with 4:15 left in the 2nd period, but the IceWolves, the newly minted Ice Hockey team name, as voted upon by the fans; rallied for a 6-4 win in the 20th World Cup of Hockey opener for both teams. Ivan Mzachinov and Doug Morris each had two goals, Morris' 2nd an empty net goal with 27 seconds left that finally ended a tough game against a very suprising team in The Old Confederate States. The WCoH newcomers used their size advantage, outhitting Qazox 183 to 87, but in the end, the stong play by Qazox' offense was enough for the IceWolves to get off to a 1-0-0 start.

GAME 2:

QZX 4 1 0 5
TOR 0 2 1 3

GOALS
QZX: Rice: 7:51 1st
QZX: Mzachinov (3) 8:45 1st
QZX: Monroe 10:14 1st
QZX: Gelan 11:44 1st

QZX: Mzachinov (4) 15:11 2nd
TOR: Gaisdui 18:02 2nd
TOR: Gaisdui (2) 15:03 3rd

Unlike the 1st game, the IceWolves dominated for the get go, scoring 4 goals in a 3:56 span in the 1st period as Qazox won their 2nd game 5-3 over Torisakia. Ivan Mzachinov scored twice again, and three others scored in a match that was a complete 180 from the opener. The two teams played a wide-open style, with numerous passes and clean play. But in the end, the IceWolves improved to 2-0-0 in the early stages of the WCoH.

Second period: Trilum 12:16
Third period: Tuveen 18:41 (en)

Another 2-0 win, another empty-net goal, but as far as Javier was concerned it had been an entirely different game. The second seeds were good. More than good, they were dangerous. They were, in fact, much like Plutoni; they had humans mixed in when they needed them, but were hardly limited to one species. Plutoni's first goal, and the one that had really made the difference, had come on a powerplay after Inmate 672362 had been sent to the box, though Plutoni weren't above the fray themselves, with Levor drawing a couple powerplays itself and the high seeds being forced to kill those off.

But not literally.

"What's this one say?" said Kevin, reaching for another piece of fan mail. "Hello. By the time you read this, you will have already played Equestrian States...what's this, something about lightspeed delays?"

"More of the "everyone knows I don't actually read mail when I'm sitting on the bench.""

"Oh. Well. That's fair. Okay, played Equestrian States and hopefully beaten them although they are really a good team. And this is a completely unofficial one full of criminals or something."

"Not like that ever stopped Prux," Javier muttered.

"Not that Prux ever minded..." Kevin looked up. "Have you already read this?"

"No, just, great minds think alike."

"Well. No wonder they're writing to you if you're so interested in history or whatever."

"Come on, even you know who we've played in the championships."

"Like, everybody," Kevin winked.

"...maybe not."

"Ahem. Obviously I am not recommending you resort to a life of crime. And not only because that would be extremely difficult in a country with as few laws as we have. But seriously, if a bunch of shapeshifting convicts can realize there's more to life than hockey, so can you...is this from the same person as before?"

"You tell me, you seem to enjoy reading it."

"It's your mail, the heck are you printing it all out for if you don't want to read it?"

"I'll get to it--like--eventually. In order."

"Mmhmm. Just going to find the cute girls?"

"Like everyone's who they claim to be."

"Forget the letters and just download the images."

"Who says I don't?"

Kevin rolled his eyes. "Stay classy."

"I try."
