Ouch. We aren't communist either, so I'd recommend you keep the ACA neutral in this. Besides, he's the aggressor here.

Yeah, not a chance. If the IASM decides he wants the alliance to intervene, we will, and honestly, curbstomping is going to be happening, but y'all won't be the stompers.

Does that include if the ACA member is the attacker and the other nations defending?

Let me quote you:
Virana wrote:A peaceful, almost pacifist nation of Afalia—a democracy with no standing army—is being invaded by the IASM, a fanatical dictatorship, whose desire is to invade to enslave the local population and turn Afalia into pretty much a big farm in order to meet the demands of the IASM's recent famine.

Bolding mine. Invading in order to keep your population from starving is pretty easy to justify.

Virana wrote:Article II Section iv: "The ACA may be called on to assist non-member nations in defence of their territory against a Communist nation. The same rules apply as in Article I, Part 3."

We aren't attacking his territory.

You are threatening his existence. You act as if we're the US - we're not. Our Constitution is fully open to interpretation, and honestly, we've bypassed that so many times it's just ceremonial.

Yep. Afalia asked me to request ICE support, so there it is. Make sure you know a bit about what's going on though—which isn't much.

Note, I am not saying the ACA will intervene (in fact, I would prefer we didn't); I just have to say something when you threaten to "curbstomp" a member. And, if worst comes to worst and the war does become a curbstomp, we will be protecting our own.

I like the rough Pakistan theme (I'm from Pakistan). But a few isues regarding this. First of all, MP5 isn't a main infantry weapon. It's a submachine gun, designed for situations where a normal rifle would be too large (cramped hallways/urban warfare, special operations, etc.). Type 56 makes more sense though.

Also, the most glaring issue is that you have a space army. Space armies aren't considered appropriate for a modern tech (MT) environment, and if you look at the title of this thread, it indicates that this organization is MT. Besides, you're using a bunch of MT items (such as the JF-17, Type 56, etc) in conjunction with a space army? That's a very unique mix of tech levels.

Furthermore, each weapon has a bullet caliber (or size of the bullet that goes in it). That's what that means. If you use the MP5, you're gonna be using a 9x19mm Parabellum round commonly used in pistols; needless to say it severely lacks in power, range, etc. The Type 56 takes the AK-47/AKM's 7.62x39mm round, which is much more viable (if a little outdated) for an assault rifle/main military weapon. ICE's leader, Phonencia, prefers the 6.5x39mm Grendel round (termed 6.5 mm ICE) which is considered ICE's main round (thus why he asked if you'd like to convert your main weapon to it), although you don't have to switch.

NATO countries use 5.56x45mm NATO in their assault rifles and 7.62x51mm NATO in their battle rifles/designated marksman rifles. Eastern Bloc nations prefer 5.45x39mm for assault rifles (AK-74) and 7.62x54R for designated marksman rifles (SVD). The 5.56 NATO has been considered a weak round (overpowered by the old 7.62x39mm AKM rounds), and 7.62 NATO is too heavy, thus an intermediate round was developed (although in real life it isn't widely used). This intermediate round, the 6.5 Grendel, offers a medium point between 5.56 and 7.62, hence why ICE uses it. Pakistan's main rifle (in case you're interested) is a license-built G3, which uses 7.62 NATO.

Aside from this, another big question... why da'hell are you donating 500 pounds of explosives to the humanitarian/peacekeeping branch???

Finally, I think it's unusual that you're using a ton of very modern and expensive equipment (JF-17, Type 45 destroyer) and very old, cheap equipment (Type 56). Just a thought, it's not bad, it's just interesting.

MP5 isn't a main infantry weapon. It's a submachine gun, designed for situations where a normal rifle would be too large (cramped hallways/urban warfare, special operations, etc.). And MP5 isn't chambered in 5.56x45mm NATO, it's chambered in 9x19mm Parabellum (the weak pistol round).

Then have fun trying to win any firefight longer than 150 meters or so. MP5 doesn't have any decent range, which makes it a bad choice for a main infantry weapon. You're better off choosing a carbine like the M4 or one of the AR-15 derivatives (such as an HK416) for that role. They're also compact, but larger than the tiny MP5, and they have decent range and thus make much better all purpose weapons than an MP5 would.

Plus low grades of body armor can stop 9 mm Parabellum rounds. Type IIA body armor (issued by the poorest militaries) can stop 9 mm Parabellum rounds at a muzzle velocity of 373 m/s (MP5 fires at 285—400 m/s depending on the version). Modern militaries like the United States issue Type IV body armor, which can stop large .30-06 armor piercing rifle rounds and should have no trouble shrugging off MP5's fire.

That's why HK made the MP7; it fires a smaller 4.6 mm bullet at 735 m/s. The highly aerodynamic design of the bullet and its high muzzle velocity is intended to be able to pierce body armor. Same with the FN P90. Weapons using miniaturized rifle rounds like these are called personal defense weapons (PDWs).

However, they lack in range and firepower. A tiny 4.6 mm bullet has little stopping power (same with the 9 mm Parabellum btw). You're a whole lot better off choosing a rifle (or carbine) for your role.

I'm standardising my main service rifle around a cheap and cheerful kalashnikov based design, modernised with modular construction, rails etc. that can switch between ammo types quite easily by swapping barrels an mag-wells etc.

http://www.nationstates.net/nation=arthurista/detail=factbook/id=52838

The main dilemma is which ammo to pick. IC-ly the territorial reserve still uses old 7.62 NATO FALs and a lesser number of old 7.62x39 AKs and have a ton of both ammo types in 'invasion storage'. The regulars have been introducing HK-416 into service among the elite units for a while in BOTH 5.56 NATO and 6.5mm.

Judging by how widespread armour is in RPs it looks like the 5.56 isn't going to cut it. Which of the remaining three is best?

Also, has the IASM situation been discussed in the ICE IC-ly?

6.5 ICE or GTFO. If you wanna' pierce body armor with it, use Armor Piercing rounds. The Russians have a super-armor piercing variant of the 5.45x39mm with a tungsten penetrator inside (regular type has a steel core rather than lolhard tungsten) I wonder if the same would work for 6.5 ICE?

I have a vested interest in the survival of Afalia and so I was wondering if I could sign on to the curbstomping?

I don't know if you can sign on, but you'll be disappointed if you're expecting a curb stomping.

Lets stop saying curbstomping so the ACA will leave us the fuck alone please.

@Prussia-Steinbach: as the vice chairman of ICE, unless you truly have something constructive to say, I'm asking you to please refrain from posting in this thread any longer. It would be deeply appreciated. Thank you.

That's all I'm asking.

Informing some of your more ignorant members that the commencing war will not be anything close to a curb-stomping if we do not want it to be is highly constructive.

However, as long as your memebrs abide by your orders, I doubt I will post in this thread again regarding the subject at hand.
