I don't know anything of Draiman's life outside of Disturbed, so I'll have to take your word on his cuntiness. Musician's personal lives are not my concern - their music is. I'm rather fond of his performance, and I wish I were closer to 10 than 40 :(

North Wiedna wrote:Disturbed are nu-metal.

Thanks for playing though!

You say that as though it were meant to be insulting. Wikipedia's article on the subject lists everything from Evanescence to Slipknot to Papa Roach to Limp Bizkit to Linkin Park as being nu-metal. That's a pretty wide brush and, having a rather broad taste in music myself, I have no problem listening to artists painted with it.

Vampyrceil wrote:I listen to albums, not the radio, so I have no idea what singles are in rotation. Last time I listened to Staind was the "Break the Cycle" era, with songs such as "Outside" and "It's Been Awhile", which sound nothing like anything Disturbed's ever done (and I've heard just about everything Disturbed). Even Disturbed's cover of "Shout", which is about as soft as they get to my knowledge, is pretty heavy metal. Perhaps Staind has changed since the early 2000s, though. I may have to give their new stuff a go :)

Never listened to Avenged Sevenfold or My Darkest Days, so I can't comment on them. When I'm riding in the car, the station that seems to play the most rock/metal (Dallas's 97.1 The Eagle) plays Disturbed along with Godsmack, Metallica, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, George Thorogood, KoRn, etc - a fairly wide range of rock/metal. Just because a radio station plays a particular pair of bands doesn't mean they really in the same category ;)

We only listen to the radio to pick on it, because we are weird.

And I think I may retract my previously statement. Listening to both Disturbed and Staind, and they don't really sound alike anymore. Maybe it's a specific single....I dunno.

This sums up your reason not to listen to My Darkest Days. Avenged Sevenfold had one song that sounded like it was ripping off Metallica, along with something else....in the same song.

Okay, now that I think about it, Nickelback and Theory of a Deadman probably fit to sounding alike more {Yes, I find shit as easily as good music).

Volbeat, Five Finger Death Punch, Avenged Sevenfold, and Shinedown. Yeah, it may be bad that my dad and I throw all of this into one category we count as "Shit", but yeah....And I'm not sure what's with these bands covering old songs.

BUT, all of that sounds great compared to other stuff I could pull up off the top of my head.....and that's saying something.

I saw an interview with Fightstar, and when they were asked who the biggest asshole they ever met on tour was, they said Draiman from Disturbed.

Staind's "Mudshovel" was pretty hard, but even back then they didn't sound a lot like Disturbed. It's possible some of their other songs had passing similarities to Disturbed's style, but the latter band has been pretty consistent from the start (which, to my mind, is a good thing).

Corrian wrote:This sums up your reason not to listen to My Darkest Days. Avenged Sevenfold had one song that sounded like it was ripping off Metallica, along with something else....in the same song.

I made it 29 seconds into that My Darkest Days video before I had to stop. What. The. Fuck.

I know like, 1 or 2 other songs on the tip of my mind that sound almost exactly like that song, but I don't know the names....which is probably a good thing.

Yeah that's only one band.I've read and seen plenty of interviews with Draiman and overall he seems like a pretty decent guy and I can't believe I just heard someone say Draiman is a bad singer.Mick Jagger (if we're talking about technical skill) is worse than him, so are many of the frontmen from classic punk bands. Those bands weren't shit either, but let's be honest, their vocalists really couldn't or weren't really trying to sing. The genre of shit which you are mistakenly placing them in only covers people like Britney Spears, Frank Sinatra (dear fucking God how do people listen to that banal crap), Soulja Boy, Rascal Flatts,Lady Gaga, KC and The Sunshine Band, and Mariah Carey.

I also just looked in the dictionary and found an alternate definition of idiot. Anyone who thinks Five Finger Death Punch, Disturbed, Volbeat, and Avenged Sevenfold suck when there are so many worse artists out there making worse music daily.I'd rather have people listening to those groups than Justin fucking Bieber and the Disney hell spawn or anyone of those moronic rappers, R&B vocalists, dance pop puppets, vocal standards yawn inducers, ICP, or anyone similar. Sorry that you don't like anything put out after 1989.

This whole post is pretty hilarious.

First of all, I pretty much think everything you mentioned sucks as well (the stuff I've heard). Soulja Boy is only entertaining in Simlish.

Second of all, I'm not an idiot for disliking those bands. And if you didn't see my post, I said I could pull up plenty more shitty bands then that. I could even give you like 10 examples I find worse then Five Finger Death Punch, Disturbed, Volbeat, and Avanged Sevenfold.

Third of all, what the hell does me disliking those have anything to do with me not liking anything after 1989? Like I said, about 95% of what I listen to is from beyond 1989, if not even more then that. I don't know if that was directed to me, but what the hell?

Frank Sinatra > Lady Gaga > Avenged Sevenfold. Your post is kinda baffling.

Also, I don't think when people said Draiman is a bad singer they meant technically.

Bullshit. If I listened to shit aimed at teenagers you'd find my collection full of fucking T-Pain and Rhianna or Steel Panther if I wanted to list any ounce of rock in that list (I can't stand steel panther primarily because of their lyrics). Because any metal subgenre that isn't old school thrash, death metal, or NWOBHM is shit right?I suppose anything from Porcupine Tree and Antonio Vivaldi to Behemoth and Enigma that I listen to would be shit to you regardless whatever the case might actually be.

I'm perplexed how anyone could even consider Sinatra even slightly entertaining Meryuma.I have the same feeling about the dull synthesized thudding of Gaga.

Do you spend most of your music discussion time finding ways to bash music you don't like?

Porcupine Tree is fantastic, Enigma I've heard a little of, and I don't really know Behemoth.

Pretty sure the dove is supposed to be carrying off the shackles...

Wied doesn't even like thrash or NOWBHM, and the only death metal bands I know him to like are Gojira and Opeth.

I respect your opinions/beliefs a lot when it comes to politics and religions but you should stop being so belligerent in music discussions. This isn't a moral crusade.

Frank Sinatra is OK, not really into him. Gaga has produced some absolute garbage (You and I, Judas, LoveGame) which leads to me ranking her below Sinatra but also some good to great songs. Avenged Sevenfold have completely awful vocals and don't really do anything particularly interesting,

Are you using "synthesized" as if it's an insult, BTW? That's really ignorant.
