Official NS World Grand Prix Championship 8 SIGNUPS

Postby Liventia » Sun Jun 21, 2009 2:16 am

This is the signup thread for the eighth World Grand Prix Championship season. The WGPC is an open-wheeled motor racing series, which broadly follows RL Formula One rules. If you wish to sign up for the event, please read the following instructions carefully. If you ignore any of the instructions, I reserve the right to ignore your signup - fair's fair.

1) There is no guarantee that signing up means your team has a spot in the championship. The only ones guaranteed a spot, if they sign up, are the teams that finished in the top five last season (Silverstar KPL, Globo/Velog, MPC F1, InfoInternet Liventia Racing, and Team Revél-Celestar). Everyone else should note that I will retain the final say on which teams will take part in the championship for RP level and interest reasons. Fifteen (15) teams will make the final cut. Only one team per nation, and no puppets!

2) Each nation may submit up to TWO tracks, OR one track each from a master and puppet nation. Ultimately in most cases only ONE track per nation will be used. You may submit a (1) track if you are not entering a team; likewise you need not enter a track if you do not have one.

If you are entering a track, the following should be present:
a) Distance of one lap. If your track has no known distance but has been used in a prior WGPC, this may be left blank as I'll just refer to the previous results.
b) The lap record. If there's no lap record, I *MUST* have the lap distance.
c) *IMPORTANT* A track map. You can use any software you wish to generate this, but I must have a track map.

One last thing: NO OVALS!

3) Each nation may sign up ONE team of TWO drivers and ONE backup.

Each team gets 20 points to distribute in aerodynamics (A), cornering (C) and reliability (R). The maximum in any one category is 10. Each driver gets a bonus point to one of the three stats. So a team with a rating of 7-7-6 could have one driver that's 8-7-6 and the other could be driving a car that's 7-7-7. The reserve driver will not be allowed an extra point. If you miss that, you don't get to go back and add it in once we start.

This is how a signup should look:
Team: TEAM NAME (A-C-R)
Team manager/principal: NAME
Driver 1: DRIVER NAME (Bonus to A/C/R)
Driver 1 description (optional)
Driver 2: DRIVER NAME (Bonus to A/C/R)
Driver 2 description (optional)
Test/reserve driver (optional): DRIVER NAME

TRACKS
Track 1: TRACK NAME
Circuit distance: DISTANCE KM (or miles, but preferably km)
Fastest lap: MIN:SEC.000 (to the thousandth of a second, please)
Track map: LINK TO MAP

Track 2: TRACK NAME
Circuit distance: DISTANCE KM (or miles, but preferably km)
Fastest lap: MIN:SEC.000 (to the thousandth of a second, please)
Track map: LINK TO MAP

Ultimately the calendar will consist of 15 teams and 12-15 races, although as stated above I will have the final say over which teams and tracks make it.

Car numbers should not be allocated by you. As per WGPC rules, car numbers are allocated by finishing position in WGPC7. New entrants will receive car numbers from 31 onwards.

Once again we don't have the finances to submit a team, but will gladly offer our circuit for use (and understand if it is cut in favour of a submission by a competing nation - the new forum seems to have significantly raised interest levels).

Brackfrome GP (Bostopia) 8-7-5

Team Principal
Terry Digger

Drivers
Jack Berry - 9-7-5
Luke Marsh - 8-7-6

Short Background

Brackfrome GP was founded to fill the international void after Bostopia F1 was privatised by the Government. Though a team was being run by Terry Digger in the Bostopian Grand Prix Championship, it didn't have the same facilities as a lot of the other teams already in the World Grand Prix Championship. Hence, when they came into money through a surprise win in the BGPC, a lot of it was poured into making a team good enough to compete in the WGPC.

History

The Motorsport Association of Bostopia (MAB) have put forward the following track to host the Bostopian Grand Prix.

Image

The Fort Boston Circuit

Located just inside the south-west corner of Fort Boston State, the 2.567 mile long Fort Boston Circuit is the newest track in Bostopia. The fastest lap time in a single seater was set by Jack Berry in the Bostopia F1 BF010 while testing the track before it's official opening, at 1:17.543.

History of the Bostopian Grand Prix
NSWGPC 4 (Fort Boston Park Circuit, Fort Boston): Pole: M. Daniels, LEC LivEngRacing 1:24.125 | Winner: L. Ridgewell, Aston-Tickford Racing 1:15:48.799

(OOC: Again the same one as in WGPC7, perhaps some alterations later on. Even though I really want to take part, I'm somewhat busy IRL, so it could be I'm somewhat slow in replying.)

Van Luxemburg, as a Number 1 Motorsport nation, welcomes Formula One with open arms to it’s nation, and would gladly host two races for the season. Our rich history in automobile racing will certainly come in handy as NSF1 visits Van Luxemburg and can taste the great motoring atmosphere.

As in the year before, Monteluci would like to offer several Duca's to the Formula One Organization, for use as safety car and medical vehicle. Because F1 is somewhat more demanding than regular road use, the vehicle has been modified electronically wise to make the standard atmospheric 4.2 litre V8 deliver 413 HP, and modified the exhaust systems, aswell as increased the engine size to 4.7 litres and some other minor adjustments, to provide an additional 77 HP; making 490 HP.
Monteluci expects that the car, which can do 310 km/h in the 400 HP SFS version, has a top speed of about 325 km/h, while the acceleration can take place in 4.5 seconds. For safety reasons, the Duca has been equipped with permanent ‘smart’ 4-wheel drive, distributing power to all four wheels. Furthermore, the SFS has been equipped with a LED lightbar, colour orange, which has an exceptionally high light output. LED strobes have also been mounted in the grille and rear bumper of the car, as well as the blinkers, that have been modified to serve as strobe lights. The Duca is also equipped with a radio system that allows the driver or passenger to contact the F1 organisation or other instances on the course. The system can also contact Van Luxemburgian Emergency Services via the standard Van Luxemburgian network. The medical car will be equipped with a regular medical kit, as well as an AED for emergency situations. It has been equipped with the same lighting solution as the Safety Car, although blue strobe lights have also been added in for road use in Van Luxemburg, in case the vehicle needs to leave the track during an emergency situation.

Entry: Monteluci F1

Monteluci is a company with a long racing history. It was founded by the Monteluci Family, most notably Gilberto Monteluci. In 1907, Gilberto built his first car, the Pangea. Quickly followed by multiple, more powerful models, Monteluci soon joined the top by winning several races since their entry into racing in 1913. His cars were the absolute benchmark in both luxury and speed, while also offering unparalleled driving dynamics. Gilberto was a frequent guest in all kinds of races around the world, especially when his cars participated. In 1934, he built the truly magical Tipo 188, which quickly conquered the racing world and lead the world’s most prestigious drivers to the finish in agonizing races of skill and tactics. The Tipo 188 was constantly improved to remain the world benchmark, and the vehicle remained top-notch until 1940, when the racing leagues were halted to favour the Second World War. During the war, Monteluci mainly constructed trucks and other light vehicles, to fulfil the large orders made by the national Armed Forces. During the war, Gilberto Monteluci died, 63 years of age, due to a fatal accident in the Monteluci factory in Venezia (Venice). After the war, Monteluci had to restart production of automobiles, since their pre-war vehicles were considered outdated by the new direttore generale, Battisto Monteluci, and he immediately ordered the development of new automobiles, which included a new Formula 1 car. Once again, Monteluci reigned the tracks and roads. However, interest in their road-legal automobiles was fading; Vehicles were too expensive and couldn’t compete with the cheaper VLT’s, a nationalised company established in 1946. Due to this, Monteluci relocated funds from their Formula 1 team to their road-legal department, which caused the achievements of the F1 team to slowly degrade, after a few seasons, the Monteluci F1 team was no more than a mediocre racing team, a shadow of what it used to be. The second blow came in 1973, when the oil crisis struck the Monteluci road-legal cars aswell; sales were reduced to a minimum. Through the next years, Monteluci slowly went downhill, upgrading and facelifting the 1973 models due to a lack of money. In 1995, the last update for the Tipo G came, a model which showed slight differences to the previous models, but still building on the same 70’s technologies. In 2007, the Direttore Generale of Monteluci sold the brand to VLT, becoming the manager for the next 5 years. After having run in the last season of NSF1, which was little successful and blamed on a ‘starting team’, Monteluci Squadra Forze Sportive F1 is back with a new car, the RF13, and a team that trained round the clock to improve it’s potential. With the new RF13 and the now well-trained team, they hope to achieve a top position in the F1 world.

Pista Autodromo Nazionale Motorsport Moiano, Moiano, Arvaglio, Van Luxemburg (High-Res, again)
Length: 13.7 Km
Lap Record: 5:14:96 (Driven with a Monteluci RF13 F1 2008 car)
Maximum Spectators: Fire brigade prescriptions list a maximum of 200,000 spectators. Seating for 45,000
Aero 0.4
Cornering 0.6

The Pista di Moiano (as it is abbreviated to from the official name, or sometimes called only ‘Moiano’) was originally a private track built by Gilberto Monteluci in 1909 to test his various race cars and automobiles. As the time progressed and Monteluci grew larger and became more and more infamous for it’s racing achievements, the Moiano grounds expanded until it spanned a staggering 300 hectares of proving grounds in 1946. However, the downfall of the Monteluci brand after the second world war caused the track to fall into disrepair, with large cracks appearing in the banked track in the late 1970’s. When the Motorway Police Driving School moved away from Moiano and Monteluci lost it’s subsidy for the upkeep of the track, it became even worse. Roads in large parts of the grounds, laying in forested areas, were covered over by all kinds of plants, causing the surface to be undriveable. With the VLT takeover, this all turned around. The Autodromo was lovingly restored and modernised, and parts of the track renovated so races could take place in the future. This future is now, and the Autodromo Nazionale Motorsport is open to the F1 season of 2008, being the home of Monteluci SFS F1, and hopefully host to one of the races in the season.

Kreuzbad Street Course, Kreuzbadinsel (High-Res, again)
Length: 20.2 Km
Lap Record: 7:56:88 (Driven with V6-powered touring cars, may not represent F1 times)
Maximum Spectators: Variable, mostly around the 100,000 mark.
Aero: 0.1
Cornering 0.9

The Kreuzbad Street course was originally set up for touring car races, but can also be used for Formula 1 racing. The drivers race straight through the streets of the scenic city of Kreuzbad, the capital of the Kreuzbadinsel Colony. Inbetween the Atlantik-Curve and the Rothschildtener Garten,, speeds of 300 kilometres an hour and upwards are possible, but the driver is required to break for Rothschildtener Garten, to prevent him or her from crashing into the city park. Other interesting corners are the Große S-Kurve, stretching across two bridges over the river Kreuz. The Leeds-Karussell is a place where the cars will have to brake hard, before steering into the hairpin. Then, the Großherzog is also an interesting place, where the cars have to steer past two sharp corners, before heading towards the wide Meer-S. The most dangerous part is most likely the Reisetschanze, where the touring car driver Christian Reiset crashed his Weiß-VLT into the scenery, a wooded area of the circuit. This is because of the small downward slope, and too much throttle means that the vehicles can possibly take off and start a short scenic fly past the trees, before crashing into one of them. Unfortunately, Christian Reiset did not survive the 1976 crash, and the Reisetschanze has been named in honour of him.

A short drive over the circuit.

One starts at Start-Finish, from where one travels across several unnamed corners, before hitting the Großcorniche corner, which leads out of Kreuzbad. Woods, with the occasional villa start to make up the scenery here, with foliage consisting off temperate plants, such as palms, olive trees, but also deciduous forest. The Luxkurve is a sharp corner that offers a scenic view of the Atlantic Ocean. From the Luxkurve to the Tal corner, the road descends into a small valley, from where the road starts climbing again, towards the Leeds-Karussell. There, the driver will have to slow down, to take a full hairpin, followed by another tight corner. Then, a very wide piece of asphalt will take us down to Enzelsberg, from where the road is relatively straight and level until the Reisetschanze. From there on, the road descends steeply, obliging the drivers to brake hard for the Schanze. Then we’ll head into the Facheler S-Kurve, which is relatively wide, although the road still descends from the top of the Enzelsberg (which is more of a hill) towards the Atlantic Ocean. Then, two sharp corners that make up the Großherzog. From there, one enters the city of Kreuzbad again andcan accelerate towards the Meer-S, which has a large and wide piece of asphalt in the middle. After the Meer-S, the car can use all of it’s acceleration to head towards the Rothschildtener Garten, past both commercial and residential construction, mainly higher buildings. The driver will then have to brake hard for the Rothschildtener Garten. From there, a short straight piece towards the Vogelsecke, named after the many birds that reside in that part of the Kreuzbad city park. Then the driver will drive from the Vogelsecke to Verstappenergrund, following a slight curve in the last part of the run. After Verstappener Grund, one will have to break for the Große S-kurve, covering two bridges across the river Kreuz. From there, the driver can finish at Start/Finish, having driven 20.2 kilometres.

[Yes, this is pretty much an updated WGPC7 entry. I think it suits well.]
Image

Nethertopia's one and only racing team would again like to participate in this competition. Based in Mignon, Team WendellCorp has been one of the playthings of Sam Wendell. After his death in the aftermath of the earthquake disaster his nephew Ricardo Wendell inherited the team and kept in in tact. They are at the ready for a second season after their more or less successful début in the WGPC7.

While the specifics of the WendellCorp WGPC model are unknown at this point, they do have a template of their car that's been used in the last world cup. A new release is due to the actual competition, if the team gets drafted in.
http://img5.imageshack.us/img5/4246/wendellcarf12.png

The team's A-C-R: 8-7-5

Team manager: Henk de Vries

The drivers:

Xabier Overtoon
Age: 22
Driver # [unknown at this point]
A-C-R: 8-7-6
Xabier Overtoon doesn't have a huge history on the tracks. This probably due to the fact that he has been a street racer since age 16. He had quite a name in the underground racing scene, but got arrested at his 18th and was sentenced to jail on grounds of illegal street racing and possession of cocaine. WendellCorp bailed him out on the promise that he would race for them legally and cut the drugs. He has since bettered his life and finished a couple of Nethertopian track races, showing his talent to the world. He is still a troublemaker, but seems cleaner than before. He was the second driver of TWC in the last world championship and surprised many Grand Prix experts by winning the first race.

Name: Arie de Winter
Age: 29
Driver # [unknown at this point]
A-C-R: 8-8-5
Arie started his racing career in go-karts, as most racers do. He won the Nethertopian Go-Kart Championship at an early race and was noticed by the WendellCorp racing department. They signed a contract with him that would prove to be a good step forward. He has raced in several Nethertopian racing events. Not that this says much, the Nethertopian racing scene is developing but not big. He did win the prestigious Ashdom City 40H Endurance Race, together with current first driver Xabier Overtoon. He is the veteran of the team and should be able to play with the big boys on the field now. Last WCGP he showed off his potential by finishing fifteenth out of the thirty drivers, averaging, well... Average.

The Track:
Due to the Mignon earthquake the Mignon Race Circuit is still being reconstructed. Because of various restrictions in the rest of the Nethertopian tracks, the submitted track from Nethertopia is actually directed in the Nethertopian Eagle Islands. The track is located in the city of Irona. A map of Nethertopia can be found here.

Circuit Zeus Irona
Length: 3.412 km
Lap record: 1:01.478
Aero: 0.4
Cornering: 0.6

1: Poseidon
2: Hades
3: Hestia
4: Hera
5: Ares
6: Athena
7: Apollo

The Babbage Islands will be unable to send a team to WGPC 8. However, we submit for your consideration the Moss-Clark Circuit, located in West Scoville, Tesla, The Babbage Islands as a possible venue.

The 16-turn road course measures 5.501 km (3.418 miles). The track record was set by stock car driver Cathy Trillium at 1:38.542.

Cafundéu's NSWGP Team: Globo/Velog returns, after finishing second in both standings, the drivers and the constructors.

Image

Team Name: Globo/Velog F1
Engine: Velog
Electronics: CloneTech
Brakes: PáraTudo!
Tires: Borrachudos
Fuel: Ignição
Drinks: Canabrava Corporation
Female Models: Agência Elite Faces
Medical Support: Agora Saúde

Stats:

Aerodynamic: 9
Cornering: 7
Reliability: 4

The car: with the success of the team in the last season of the NSWGP, Globo/Velog was able to attract even more sponsors to the car (last season’s car can be seen in http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/8003/velogclean.png), keeping the team livery heavily sponsored. Still, the director of the team says that Globo/Velog wanted even more sponsors, so another good performance must be made to attract them. The new car livery:

Image

Drivers (both have nswiki pages if more info is needed):

Driver 1: Bruno "Valeta" Borghi (Cafundéu): 10-7-4
Driver 2: André Luís Caconde (Cafundéu): 9-7-5

Test Driver: Gabriel Farah (Cafundéu)

Team Manager: Estive Formoso

Staff details: due to the success of the last season, both drivers of Globo/Velog maintain their positions, with Bruno Borghi earning worldwide success with his second position in the driver standings last year (combined with the team’s second position in the constructors’). André Luís Caconde, who became known more for his appearances in the media for incidents not exactly related with the championship (related with his brandy consumption), had good results, and will continue with the team. Former team manager Romualdo Siqueira has decided to have a less important function in the team, leaving the position of Globo/Velog head to Estive Formoso, the technical manager who successfully defended the team’s front right thingymajigs last season. When asked if the team would continue using the controversial parts, he answered “I guess everyone will be using them now, we’ll have to have something different,” but he denied the rumours that he’d be adding performance enhancers in Caconde’s brandy: “This would be too much, we have to play fair.” There is great expectations inside the team.

Cafundéu also wants to submit a track:

Name: Autódromo Afonso Lacraia Velog (aka Velogão)

Lap times around 1:18.750 (André Luís Caconde has the record: 1:18.119 [NSWGP7]) - Length is 4,500m

An anticlockwise circuit, the Velogão has many curves, but most of them are high speed curves. The first curve (without numbers) is extremely dangerous, and some accidents can happen in the first lap or in other ones. The curves with numbers 5, 8 and 11 demand a good brake system, but in general, this is a short and fast circuit, with areas of overtaking opportunities (probably fewer than in other circuits).

It is located in the capital city, Cafundó do Juta, near the Lake Acarajé. It is also close to many factories, especially Canabrava Cachaça's main factory, and Velog Automobiles' factory.

Important: the probability of rain in Cafundó do Juta is very high. From December to March, it is over 50%. From April to July, it is 20%. From August to November, it is approximately 33%.

Image

Names of the curves/sectors:

0 (first curve): Curva do Diabo
1: Pé do Abreu
2: Dedão do Abreu
3: Desvio do Lago
4: Curva do Sargento
5: Espinho I
6: S do Senna
7: Curva Bola
8: Espinho II
9: Cabeça de Porco
10: Reta do Breque
11: Curva Mata-Um
12: Reta Oposta
13: Curvão do Maníaco
14: Curva do Jegue
15: Viradinha Final
16: Curva da Vitória
17: Reta Principal
18: Reta dos Pits

A second track will also be submitted, to be used if necessary (this would be the Landau Institute GP rather than a 2nd Cafundéu GP):

Name: Autódromo Oficial do Setor Delta (aka Setor Delta) - located inside the Landau Institute

Lap times around 1:00.333 (no record as this is a new track) - Length is 3,745m

As usual with tracks located in the region close to Cafundéu and Estresse Intenso, this is an anti-clockwise circuit. It is a pretty easy one, and very enjoyable, to drive in, as the drivers will be able to be in nearly maximum speed for most part of the track. As this circuit is located inside the Landau Institute, it is indoor, so climate doesn't affect it (there is air conditioning). The only problem is that cars broken inside the track won't be removed easily. To compensate this, at least injured drivers can be assured they'll have a good assistance, as there are a lot of doctors there.

Image

Sectors:
1- Reta Principal
2- Curva Dr. Ross
3- Extensão do Setor Leste
4- Curva Dra. Gomes
5- Descida do Prof. Germano Paiva
6- Setor do Cientista Louco
7- Curva Profª Mel Novaes
8- Curva Dr. Landau
9- Seqüência Paciente 735
10- Extensão do Setor Oeste
11- Curva Prof. Bangu Melo
12- Mini-reta Prof. Bossa Veja
13- Esse Invertido Dr. Sérgio Soares
14- Curva da Clínica Pediátrica
15- Reta da Decisão
16- Curva Dra. Haber
17- Pit Lane

Grand Prix of Ad’ihan track submission

Grand Prix of Ad’ihan at the Riverston International Circuit (Circuit international de Riverston), replacing the Circuit d'Ad’ihan.

Image
As it is a new track, there is no lap record. The lap times will be around 1 min 20 to 1 min 30 seconds.

Confirming this is a puppet track entry of Liventia.

The North Avayun team "Velocitas Racing" would like to enter the WGPC if there is still a chance.
Team: Velocitas Racing (6-7-7)
Team manager/principal: Patrick Piper
Description: Velocitas Racing is a new team, mainly sponsored by a big soda company. They already had teams in go-kart racing and smaller regional classes and are now taking the big step onto worldstage. The Velocitas F1 2009 (pictures will probably follow, if application is accepted) is a client car, engine and electronics bought from a big car company. The design itself is done by competent constructor Peter Miller.
Driver 1: Alexander Kruger (7/7/7)
Driver 1 description: 29 year old Alexander Kruger is the more experienced driver of Velocitas. He was driving go-kart since his childhood and had some success in smaller racing leagues. He is a competent driver, with a good understanding of the techonlogy behind it, so he is a great help for bringing the team forward.
Driver 2: Sebastian Hill ( 6/8/7)
Driver 2 description: Sebastian is the hope of Velocitas Racing. He is 20 years old and seen as North Avayu's big talent. In his years with the go-kart, he completly dominated the North Avayun Go-Kart League. He then entered a GP2-like series for Velocitas and had won some races. But he's still relatively unexperienced and it isn't sure if he can keep in contact with the world's top drivers.
Test/reserve driver (optional): Marcus Og (age 24)

9/8/8 is not a valid entry.

Also, NationStates and the RL world don't mix, so in the sports community we try to avoid RPing relations with the 'real world' (e.g. your driver taking part in GP2, etc). Naming a track's corners after RL stuff is more grey though.

We will apply for series entry:

Team: Keystone Wireless Racing (8-6-6)
Manager: Jason Stevens
Driver 1: Andrew Tremblay (8-7-6)
Description: Tremblay has raced in the One Big Island Racing Association and picked up two victories in the last season in which it was contested. At 27, he has plenty of racing still ahead of him while also attaining quite a bit of experience. Considered the best road-course driver in the Empire.

Driver 2: Matthew Burnett (9-6-6)
Description: At 24, Matthew has just begun to make a name for himself. He's a technically-savvy driver, but critics feel he needs to become more aggressive to be able to call himself a world champion.

Test Driver: David Reynolds (8-7-6)
Description: The 49-year old is on the team to assist the drivers and use his knowledge and experience to the benefit of the team. He still races competitively, and if he has to get behind the wheel, he can still hang with the big boys.

Track: Grand Prix of Newmanistan @ Course at the Proving Grounds (Tundra Falls)
Map: (what happens when a terrible artist uses MS Paint!)
Image

Distance: 2.61 miles/4.176 kilometers
Track record: 1:21.348 seconds

Turn Descriptions:
1: After traveling at high speeds down the grandstand straight, turn 1 begins with a slight slant in what is braking zone before a rather sharp turn. The course now bypasses the Arena and Tennis court facilities of the Proving Grounds.
2: A right turn that drivers should be able to handle with no problem before approaching the next one.
3: Another sharp left turn, and if you didn't slow down enough in turn 2, you may find yourself going off course.
4 & 5: Many people consider this one turn, but be careful as at the exit of turn 4 and the entry to turn 5 the ride gets rather bumpy. This is because you are entering the infield course now.
6: A tricky left turn then winds around to the right as you drive past the football/soccer stadium of the Proving Grounds.
7: A narrow and tight left-hand turn, the exit of this turn tends to be a good passing zone.
8: A sharp right turn as you take the pathway between the football/soccer stadium and the baseball/lacrosse stadium.
9: We could have let you keep going straight, but instead you get this left turn into the parking lot of the baseball facility.
10: A series of chicanes.
11: A sharp right...
12: Followed by another sharp right as you leave the parking lot.
13: Simple left out of the parking area.
14: Another left which leads you to the next turn.
15: A windy curve that tends to create passing chances.
16: A series of short and sharp turns.
17: A left out of the sharp turn area, the driver that had momentum there usually can pass very easily on this long and wide straight.
18: Just prior to turn 18 is your entrance to pit lane. An important turn that you will have to exit well to have good speed down the grandstrand straight.
