With but 20 seconds left in the game, Xavier Berube nailed the post. The ball bounced all the way back to Henrique Alonso on Edmunston. He made no mistake, and put it away. Edmunston won Game 5, 6 and 7 after that to take the Pouliot Cup.

LDSP! LDSP! The best team in the league may have lost Giroux and Dion this offseason, but they are still the best team in the league. FC Cote stayed in the top 5 of the league to earn a Globe Cup spot, and last season's Olympique Beaudette stayed solid, finishing 8th. Beavers du Lac-Seneca, who pundits predicted to be eliminated back to Ligue-2, finished 14th for a Globe Cup spot. Lac-Drouin City had a brutal season, after transfering Christopher Savard to Brighton United upon player's request, and crashed down in 27th. Brighton United received Savard and improved greatly, qualifing for the Champion's Cup playoff. With the 2 seasons being played, the top 2 teams in each season will play each other to determine the final CC spot, if both teams are the same, no playoff will be played. This is the same for the Globe Cup. League Awards this season:

Top Scorer: Christopher Savard, Brighton United-21 goals
Top Keeper: Herbert Georges, Lac-Drouin St-Pierre
Top Manager: Marc Denis, Lac-Drouin St-Pierre

We now move on to Ligue-2!

2 Cote-Manicougan Vikings 65 29 24 69 65 +4 58

10 Presqu'ile Kings 71 24 30 69 80 −11 48

1 matchday is left. 7th and below are the coveted spots, and anything can happen. Presqui'le needs a win with Mont-St-Jean and Scajaquada losing to make it, and Scajaquada needs a win with a Mont-St-Jean loss to make the postseason. With 1 matchday left, who will be the star of Matchday 72?

Western Standings after 71 matchdays.

Baie-Eternite are eliminated. With one matchday left, St-Simeon plays the Bass in Baie-Eternite, and Lac-Drouin take on the Rangers in Lac-Drouin. St-Simeon definetly has the easier matchday, and hopes to smash the Bass out of their own arena just 30 kilometers north of St-Simeon. Les Tigres need to come up big against the high-flying Rangers of Riviere St-Denis, their old rivals, to make the playoffs.

Vasal Lakers 1–0 Beaudette Jets

On day 72, the unthinkable for Les Tigres happened. Loic Leduc turned the puck over with just 5 minutes left, with Les Tigres nursing a 1-0 lead. Rangers sniper Corey Cinden blasted a slapshot home over Tigres goalie Marc St-Hubert, and against 2 minutes later. The Rangers kept the lead, even after St-Hubert was pulled with 47.6 seconds left. Now, Les Tigres, playing the afternoon game, could only hope Les Bass won their first game in the last 7. Alas, it was not to be. Les Whalers struck twice early, and kept the puck away from the Bass. Late in the 3rd, almost mocking the Tigres, the Whalers allowed a late goal, then shut the Bass back down. Off to the playoffs for Maurice Rolloton and the St-Simeon Whalers, and back home for the Tigres.

Sicoutian Gridiron League-Season 3

After the succesful hosting of the 12th Baptism of Iron, things changed in the Sicoutimont Gridiron League. The lockout wrapped up almost immediately, and then the season began! Val-Maurice has recieved a team, the Val-Maurice Rough Riders. With 16 teams, each team will play 15 games. The top 8 will make the playoffs: 1 and 2 will get a bye, 3v8 4v7 5v6. We'll assume each top ranked seed wins. Second round: 2v5 3v4. Third round 2v3. The winner will play team 1 in the Girard Cup bowl game, played at Pierre Beach Stadium, host of the 12th Baptism of Iron final between Quebec and Birolika, which was filled with controversy. Here are the final results!

SGL Season 3 Pld W L PF PA PD Pts
1 Riviere St-Denis Capitales 15 10 5 487 446 +41 20]
---------BYE TO GIRARD CUP-------------------------------------------
2 Lac-Seneca Ramblers 15 10 5 473 456 +17 20
-------BYE TO SECOND ROUND----------------------------------------
3 Lac-Drouin Tigres 15 9 6 474 377 +97 18
4 Scajaquada Fall White Caps 15 9 6 499 457 +42 18
5 St-Pierre Ambush 15 9 6 465 450 +15 18
6 Orleans Thunder 15 9 6 447 441 +6 18
7 Ile Perrot Epee 15 8 7 480 377 +103 16
8 Ile Bizzard Huskies 15 8 7 459 407 +52 16
----------------PLAYOFFS----------------------------------------------
9 Arbreville Jungle-Cats 15 8 7 410 429 −19 16
10 Pierre Beach Royales 15 8 7 438 470 −32 16
11 Tallonts Roughnecks 15 7 8 466 403 +63 14

13 Orleans Monstres 15 5 10 441 494 −53 10
14 St-Simeon Whalers 15 5 10 432 514 −82 10
15 LaSalle Warriors 15 5 10 440 541 −101 10
16 Baie-Eternite Racers 15 4 11 406 517 −111 8

Arbreville and Pierre Beach surprisingly do not make the playoffs. Riviere St-Denis earns the bye to the Girard Cup, and Lac-Seneca go to the second round. Scajaquada Falls look to defend the championship, but LaSalle will not try to take it away this time, going 5-10 1 year after losing the Girard Cup final. Playoffs: Lac-Drouin vs Ile Bizzard, Scajaquada Falls vs Ile Perrot, and St-Pierre vs Orleans Thunder.

Qualifications Round 1
Lac-Drouin 27-Ile Bizzard 28
Scajaquada Falls 40-Ile Perrot 27
St-Pierre 42-Orleans 22

2nd Round matchups: Lac-Seneca vs Ile Bizzard, and Scajaquada Falls vs St-Pierre.

2nd Round Games
Lac-Seneca 35-Ile Bizzard 28
Scajaquada Falls 37-St-Pierre 22

So, the Sicoutimont Bowl, with the winner going to the Girard Cup, will be Lac-Seneca vs Scajaquada Falls.

Sicoutimont Bowl
Lac-Seneca 40-Scajaquada Falls 36

What a great game! Lac-Seneca almost faltered in the late 4th quarter, but it doesn't matter anymore, as Les Ramblers advance to the 23rd Girard Cup.

Girard Cup Final
Lac-Seneca, a laid-back, easygoing city on the east bank of Lac-Seneca, near Sicoutimont's northern border with Valladares. The fans head over to Stade Lac-Seneca every Saturday to see their team play, and this year win, going 10-5. Riviere St-Denis is the 3rd biggest city in the nation, with the cosmopolitan, bustling feel of an everyday big city. The Riviere-Drouin runs right down the middle, and most commerce is located on Ile Vasal, where the main city is located. The city is right in the middle of the nation, and those fans that get the time to make it will certainly get over to Stade Archambault to see Les Capitales win. Now, the 1 factor that seperated these two in the standings: Head-to-head. Riviere-St-Denis won the only game between these 2, and got the first spot. Now, Les Ramblers are back for game 2, gunning to take out the Capitales. Who will win the 23rd Girard Cup?

Girard Cup-Pierre Beach Lac-Seneca Ramblers vs Riviere-St-Denis Capitales
Lac-Seneca Ramblers 35-Riviere St-Denis Capitales 16

So that's it! The Lac-Seneca Ramblers are the kings of the Sicoutimont Gridiron World! Scoring 3 touchdowns and leading after the first half 21-3, the team kept going, putting themselves ahead 28-13 at the end of the 3rd Quarter. Les Capitales came closer with a field goal with 5 minutes to go, but Loic Davis, QB, wouldn't let them come back, throwing a TD pass and putting the Ramblers ahead 34-16. Clay MacEachern wouldn't miss the final kick, and Lac-Seneca wins the Girard Cup 35-16, leaving Pierre Beach Stadium covered in confetti.

AmpiSport Sicoutimont Champion's League Season Preview

It's footballing time of year, football fans! And what better way to have you covered than a 5-part broadcast? 1 season preview, plus a recap after matchdays 15, 30, 45, and the end of the season! Here we are with the season preview!

This looks to be an interesting season in the ASSCL. Angel Capobianco and Jerry Watchmen were brought in from Ossidiaqua and the FSSO, respectively, to Lac-Drouin St-Pierre. LDSP were also interested in a Farf keeper, but he signed away to Valladares. Capobianco looks to lead the league in scoring, and Watchmen will hold down the fort for LDSP. Champion's Cup qualification is expected, and anything less will be seen as a failure for Antoine Carois and Marc Denis. Brighton United lost Christopher Savard to Free South Califas champion Calexico, but signed Georges Allonts in the transfer season. LDSP also lost keeper Artyom Bergeron to Ferdullaele FC of Farfadillis. Herbert Georges signed a 2-year contract with Empilot United FC of Boring Paradise, forcing LDSP to sign backup Sicoutian keeper Olivier Aourle. A full list of transfers can be found at http://www.asscl.scm/league/fanzone/transfers. LDSP are expected to win the CC Qualification. Brighton United, Knights FC, and Olympique Beaudette could win Globe Cup qualification. The Coupe Diamonde will not be played this season. Sleeper teams are Lac-Drouin City, who had a horrible year last season, and FC Cote, who were on the outside looking in at 5th last year. Relegation could befall Seasid FC and newly-promoted club City Riviere St-Denis. Looking to Series-B, Real Ile-Perrot and FC LaSalle could be promoted. The 2 other SBCC qualifiers from Series-B look to be FC Richelieu and Vasal United. Top scorer will be Angel Capobianco, who we predict will score 30 goals. Manager will be Marc Denis, and the top keeper is predicted to be Jerry Watchmen. New award this year is best foreign player. It is predicted Capobianco will win, and also the other new award for team MVP. Now, it's time for part 1 of the season....are you ready for football?

So, with MD30 in the books, half the season has concluded. Brighton United made a charge for the top this quarter, but Lac-Drouin City fell with poor performance, such as losing 1-0 to the last-place Knights FC on MD30. Lac-Drouin St-Pierre still leads the league by far, and Angel Capobianco, Jerry Watchmen and Georges Allonts have everything to say for that. Capobianco still leads the league in goals, with 22, with Allonts a close second, having 19 strikes over 27 caps. Now, here is the league table after 30 matches for each team:

Lac-Drouin City fell hard, but no-one could have predicted the demise of Knights FC. Globe Cup last season, potential Relegation this year. Olympique Beaudette are looking to make a charge, and are currently 20th with 28 matches to play. Brighton United are 14th, 24 points outside Globe Cup qualification. With 28 matches left, they need at least 12 wins. They currently have 9 wins in 30 games. FC St-Simeon stayed in Globe Cup contention this quarter, and cross-town rival St-Simeon City also surged higher, climbing from 18th to second. The 3rd team in qualification zone is Sporting Lac-Bouchard, who climbed the most, from 24th all the way to 3rd position. Next cycle will see LDSP try to run away with the league, led by star strikers Georges Allonts and Angel Capobianco. Knights FC and Richelieu FC hope to climb out of the Relegation Zone, but who will that fate be given too? We can see Richelieu go down, but maybe FC Cote? What about Lac-Drouin City, who haven't seen glory days ever since qualifing for the Champion's Cup with Girard Giroux 2 seasons ago? LDSP seem to be locked in for the Champion's Cup, but a spell of losses could change that, as St-Simeon City is their closest competition, still 11 points back. Join us for matches 31-45, and 46-58 plus UICA qualification/preview. See you back here soon!

LDSP continued their dominence, including a 5-1 win over FC Pierre Beach on matchday 45. Angel Capobianco and Georges Allonts combined for 3 goals in that game, extending Capobianco's lead of the goal table. The Ossidiaquan leads the league with 36 goals, with Allonts behind him with 33. Next is Louis Desjardins, the 17-year old striker from Sporting Lac-Bouchard who turned a lot of heads this year, and may make the World Cup 63 team.

LDSP continue their dominence, and lead now by 27 points. As the most Sporting Lac-Bouchard can get is 26 as 13 games remain, LDSP have clinched the ASSCL Champion's League berth. FC Ile Perrot could return to UICA, but in a different way; FCIP won Ligue-2 and qualified for the SBCC, now they are in position for the Globe Cup with 13 games to play. On the other end, Knights FC clambered out of the Relegation Zone, leaving Richelieu FC for the dead, and FC Tallonts needing at least 5 wins with KFC winning none. Lac-Drouin City have hopefully moved themselves out of the RZ for good, but bad results in the final 13 matches could change that. Brighton United are 11th place, 10 points out of that elusive Globe Cup spot. Will FC Tallonts survive another year in the ASSCL? Can Brighton United return to the UICA? Will FC Ile Perrot go from Ligue-2 to Globe Cup in 1 season? Let's see, as sicoutiansportsnow.scm brings you the final 13 games of the season, plus a UICA preview!

The St-Simeon Mets have won all previous league titles, and bridesmaid Baie-Eternite Cardinals look to finally best the Mets. Over the offseason, the Lac-Drouin Sentinals moved across the country to become the La Espanola Conquistadors, playing on San Cristobal Island, 126km off the coast of St-Simeon. So, with everything to play for, here is Season 6 of the LBS!

16 Arbreville Vert-Sox 150 52 98 573 688 −115 104

Playoff Matchups: St-Simeon Mets vs Orleans Royales, Ile Perrot Epee vs St-Pierre Orioles, Baie-Eternite Cardinals vs Riviere St-Denis Rangers, and Lac-Bouchard Bass vs Richelieu Redhawks. Before the playoffs began, Mets longtime 1st basemen Francis Boullion, at 38, announced this would be his final LBS season. Arguably the best player in the league, the Mets will miss his presence as the big-game hitter who hit 51 home runs this past season. He was named League MVP 3 times, has won 5 Sicoutimont Series, and 2 batting titles. He finished 2nd in the league batting this year, after 28 year old teammate Victor Santana. Santana hit 56 home runs for the league lead. Here we go, with the playoffs!

Round 1
Round 1 will be a Best-of-5 series, with the first winner of 3 games advancing to the 2nd round of the playoffs.

(1)St-Simeon Mets vs (8)Orleans Royales
St-Simeon 1-Orleans 2 (OR 1-0)
Orleans 1-St-Simeon 8 (Tied 1-1)
St-Simeon 5-Orleans 6 (OR 2-1)
Orleans 5-St-Simeon 7 (Tied 2-2)
St-Simeon 8-Orleans 0 (SSM Win 3-2)

(2)Ile Perrot Epee vs (7)St-Pierre Orioles
Ile Perrot 4-St-Pierre 0 (IPE 1-0)
St-Pierre 6-Ile Perrot 7 (IPE 2-0)
Ile Perrot 2-St-Pierre 0 (IPE Win 3-0)

(3)Baie-Eternite Cardinals vs (6)Riviere St-Denis Rangers
Baie-Eternite 4-Riviere St-Denis 7 (RSR 1-0)
Riviere St-Denis 3-Baie-Eternite 2 (RSR 2-0)
Baie-Eternite 6-Riviere St-Denis 2 (RSR 2-1)
Riviere St-Denis 3-Baie-Eternite 1 (RSR Win 3-1)

(4)Lac-Bouchard Bass vs (5)Richelieu Redhawks
Lac-Bouchard 9-Richelieu 0 (LBB 1-0)
Richelieu 3-Lac-Bouchard 5 (LBB 2-0)
Lac-Bouchard 3-Richelieu 0 (LBB win 3-0)

Two series sweeps, a 4 game and a 5 game victory highlighted the first round. Les Mets survived a scare, not leading in the series until the final game. Coming back from behind 1-0 and 2-1 in the series, the Mets ended in an 8-0 victory over the Royales, with Boullion and Santana each scoring a home run. Ile Perrot easily got past St-Pierre, including two shutout victories and a No-Hitter in the 3rd game pitched by Hugh Darve. Riviere St-Denis' Rangers upset the Cardinals in 4 games, and it looks like the Cardinals run of dominanace is over. Best team yet to not win the Sicoutimont Series? Possible. Lac-Bouchard swept the Redhawks as well, allowing only 3 runs in the series, and all in the 2nd inning of the 2nd game. That sets up next round's matchups as: St-Simeon Mets vs Riviere St-Denis Rangers, and Ile Perrot Epee vs Lac-Bouchard Bass.

Round 2
Round 2 will be played in Best-of-5 series, with the winner of each going to the Sicoutimont Series. Each team has qualified for the BCCC.

(1)St-Simeon Mets vs (6)Riviere St-Denis Rangers
St-Simeon 1-Riviere St-Denis 3 (RSR 1-0)
Riviere St-Denis 2-St-Simeon 1 (RSR 2-0)
St-Simeon 8-Riviere St-Denis 6 (RSR 2-1)
Riviere St-Denis 6-St-Simeon 7 (Tied 2-2)
St-Simeon 3-Riviere St-Denis 1 (SSM Win 3-2)

(2)Ile Perrot Epee vs (4)Lac-Bouchard Bass
Ile Perrot 0-Lac-Bouchard 1 (LBB 1-0)
Lac-Bouchard 1-Ile Perrot 9 (Tied 1-1)
Ile Perrot 8-Lac-Bouchard 2 (IPE 2-1)
Lac-Bouchard 3-Ile Perrot 2 (Tied 2-2)
Ile Perrot 1-Lac-Bouchard 5 (LBB Win 3-2)

Do you believe in miracles, Francis Boullion? It's a miracle you're still playing, as St-Simeon overcame a 2-0 deficit to win the final 3 games, including a nail-biting 4th game. Down 6-5 in the 9th inning with 2 outs, Boullion was up to bat. 1 runner was on base. The crack of the bat swung as Boullion put out his last home run at historic Rangers Park, winning the game for the Mets and giving Boullion a chance at his 6th and final Sicoutimont Series. Although they only scored 8 less runs than Ile Perrot, the Lac-Bouchard Bass advanced, being outscored in the 5 game series 20-12. Les Bass will meet the Mets in the finals, with the Mets looking to win their 6th straight league title, and the Bass trying to do what no team has ever done: beat the Mets in a 7-game series. Here we go, with the Sicoutimont Series!

6th Sicoutimont Series
The Sicoutimont Series will be played in 7 games, with the winner taking all the glory.

(1)St-Simeon Mets vs (4)Lac-Bouchard Bass
St-Simeon 6-Lac-Bouchard 2 (SSM 1-0)
Lac-Bouchard 2-St-Simeon 6 (SSM 2-0)
St-Simeon 5-Lac-Bouchard 4 (SSM 3-0)
Lac-Bouchard 0-St-Simeon 7 (SSM Win 4-0)

St-Simeon win their 6th championship in a row, and Francis Boullion's last ever ring is won. In a fitting way, the second-last Mets at-bat of the Season was Boullion's last as a Met, and his last at Parc PowerEternite. The 76 year old building partied once again as the Mets pumped 7 runs out in domination of the Lac-Bouchard Bass. Boullion hit a home run as his last at-bat to a crowd which gave him a standing ovation to give Les Mets the 7-0 lead in the bottom of the 8th. Then, with Pleto Valez hitting a pop fly to first base for the final out of the game, Boullion caught the ball as he had done thousands of times before, and stepped of of 1st Base for the final time to celebrate his final victory. Boullion was awarded Series MVP, and was presented the Sicoutimont Series Trophy as team captain. A fitting way to end a great career. Boullion's career isn't over yet, however. He'll join Sicoutimont's Royales baseball team 2 months from now as Les Royales take to the field at the World Baseball Classic, but his Mets and LBS career is over. Here are Sicoutimont's BCCC qualifiers:
