Well, basically, I thought that an RP involving Lycans and vampires would be interesting, and although I've seen RPs that contain vampires and werewolves in them, I didn't see any based off the film series. So, I felt it might be good to start one up. Underworld obviously being much better than.... *Cough-Twilight-Cough*. By the way, silver harms Lycans, and UV harms vampires. Garlic doesn't do nothing, and a number of the more ridiculous ways of killing them don't actually work. Vampires still don't like sunlight, and only the more powerful ones can walk the day un-burnt, so less powerful ones usually need hoods and the like when going around in daytime. So basically; Vampires do not possess any of the mystical weaknesses of mythological vampires (crosses, holy water, garlic, stakes, etc).
Of course; if you don't know what Underworld is, then tough. To summarize it: it's set in the modern world, with a millennia long-war between vampires and werewolves going on. Recently, humans have finally discovered that the myths and legends concerning such creatures as vampires and werewolves are more than just fiction. It is a widely known fact now, that the two races have been warring and feeding off the human race, though for how long no one knows. Various military organisations are attempting to hunt them down and wipe them from the face of the earth, and many cities over the globe are being quarantined, in the effort to exterminate them. What was once used only by the two races against each other, is now being utilized by humans to kill them. Silver nitrate bullets are coming into use, as is UV ammunition. Other means of turning such things into weapons are used too, like grenades, bombs, gas cannisters and so on, that use such things as are harmful to vampires and Lycans. It doesn't always end well for humans though, when skilled fighters from either species slaughter entire squads or more.
As a side note, Lycans are actually second-generation werewolves, or humans that were turned by second-generation werewolves. The first werewolf- William Corvinus, and those turned by him, could not turn into human form. Only the generations after those first werewolves could, and they became known as Lycans.
To quote from Wiki:
Alexander Corvinus is considered the first and the progenitor of the Vampire and Lycan lines. He was the only survivor of a plague that wiped out his village. Somehow, his body was able to mutate the virus, mold it to his own benefit. He had three sons, two of whom inherited their father's immortality and were bitten, one by bat and one by wolf, creating the Vampire and Lycan lines. Corvinus' third son, who did not inherit immortality, also carried the Corvinus Strain, hidden away in his genetic code — an exact duplicate of the original virus, passed along to his human descendants through the centuries. This, according to Singe, is the key to creating a hybrid.
The original werewolves were uncontrollable beasts, unable to retake human form once bitten. However, there was a single werewolf who gave birth to a human-looking child. This child carried a mutation of the original virus, permitting him to alternate between human and werewolf form. He was Lucian, dubbed by Viktor as "the first of the Lycans."
The Vampires used the Lycans as slaves to be the guardians of their lairs during the daylight hours and labor during the night. However, Viktor's daughter Sonja and Lucian fell in love. Lucian, the Lycan leader, lead a revolt after Viktor killed Sonja to prevent the blending of the species. Later on, Kraven would strike an arrangement with his cousin Lucian, in which Lucian would fake his death to permit Kraven to advance, with the goal being the death of the Vampire elders and the end of the war. However, that fell through due to mistrust and duplicity by both men.
Both sides have their own lair and chain of command. Vampires have Death Dealers, vampire warriors charged to fight and kill the Lycan enemy. There are three Vampire elders. Rules and tradition demand that two be at rest while one is awake; this arrangement calls for each elder to rule for one century followed by two centuries of sleep.
Currently, there are only two Hybrids, Michael Corvinus, and Eve.
I'll add a bit of info on the main human (supposedly) organisation/company hunting Lycans and Vampires: Antigen
Antigen is a biotech pharmaceutical company employed by the world governments to contain and experiment on Vampires and Lycans after they are captured, seen in Underworld: Awakening. In reality, Antigen is a front operated by the Lycans to fool world governments into believing they are extinct, as to turn the humans' attention to killing their old adversary, the Vampires. They have discovered that the hybrids with the Corvinus Strain have immunity to silver and are bigger and stronger. The head of the organization was Jacob Lane. With the infomation of the Corvinus Strain hybrids, he turned himself and his son Quint into Lycan-Corvinus Strain Hybrids.
Antigen workers (both Lycans and human personnel) are trained to fight and secure test subjects. In Underworld: Awakening, the Vampiress Selene is able to break out of her hibernation and escape. One of Antigen's soldiers is able to work a flame-thrower, indicating they know how to kill vampires.
All Antigen security guards carry ultraviolet bullets, and likely silver bullets as well. They are heavily armed with futuristic weaponry.
In the film, Selene dealt a blow to the company by killing Jacob Lane, his son, and the scientists that were working on making the serum available for widespread use amongst Lycans. So that effort to make Lycans more powerful failed, any any samples of that strain of the virus were destroyed. The company would mainly be composed of humans now, fairly unaware of what happened to the company's leader and some of the senior members, who were Lycans.
My App
Name: Mikhael Rurikovich
Species (Human, Lycan, Vampire): Lycan
Age: Around 542, I would think.
Sex: Male
Appearance:
Equipment (Weapons, etc): Steyr Aug, 2x Heckler & Koch Elites, Segmented bone whipsword, 2x Wrist-mounted blades. Combat boots, Black overcoat, gloves, pants; obviously, and some generic items.
Powers (If any- other than those attributed to chosen species- magic is allowed): Has some skill with dark magic, and some elemental magic such as fire. Considerable ability with most weapons.
Personality: Unless he is firmly persuaded otherwise, he can give a mule lessons in stubbornness. He has a hunger for power that has been sated little; though he tempers it with caution when he can. In his younger years, he had a taste for pranks, and often accompanied some more "free-willed", members of the Russian court. Since becoming a Lycan, and taking on certain burdens- at least outwardly; he has become serious, grim, and intent on pushing away all those who are important to him. He can be quite capable and level-headed when faced with challenges, and is a fast learner. Over the centuries, he has become arrogant and hard. Mikhael has another side to him, but will be pretty hard to get to, underneath an outside "shell", hardened over centuries. Of course, the shell isn't literal, existing rather, in a metaphorical sense.
Bio: Mikhael was born a son of Grand Prince Ivan III, in Moscow, 1470. He lived twenty two years of relatively uneventful time, with many friends in the Muscovite court. He was quite popular amongst the nobles, for being relatively good looking, among other reasons, and he was adept in duelling politically- including manipulating other when it suited him, and with the sword. Any rumours that he used black magicks to kill his political enemies, hardly left anyone's lips before they were dead too. He was always considered a good shot with gunpowder weapons, and he mastered many of the languages of Europe and western Asia, becoming omni-lingual surprisingly quickly. He often journeyed through various parts of the country, as he was also . One Russian winter's night, in a forested village he was passing through, something happened. An unnatural creature leapt out of the shadows, and wounded him before he could react, before vanishing into the night. He didn't think anything in particular was out of the ordinary, until he went back that night. Consulting with an old witch, as he had an interest in occult matters that he kept well to himself, though zealotry and foolishness was mainly reserved to the Catholics to the south, he discovered that a werewolf, or Lycan had infected him.
Mikhael discovered it was too late, and made quiet arrangements to "vanish", from the history books.
It would also mean that the next Tsar; his brother, would be without risk of a rival, so his brother consented to help him once his predicament was whispered to a few individuals. He left then, travelling with his belongings, travelling along the lesser known roads and villages into the Baltic. Unfortunately, he could not control transformations at first, so there were rumours of vicious slaughters in various villages and towns along certain routes. Mikhail had planned it so that the nearest settlements he travelled through were fairly isolated.
He knew the risk of hordes of superstitious bumpkins all joining together to hunt this supposed "demon-spawn", or foul creature of evil that depopulated entire villages. Not knowing what was really going on, of course.
Occasionally, vampires- usually Death Dealers found him out and tried to kill him every few decades or so, and they got far closer than normal humans or hunters had before, so he fears them as much as he hates them. Some of them either escaped alive, or left him nearly dead. Other than vampires, kept any enemies at bay with his more mundane skills when necessary, as even though he was already considerably skilled, his werewolf senses and reflexes made him even better. Though having advanced regenerative abilities, helped too. Years came and passed as he constantly travelled, sometimes turning up in battles between various factions in Europe. Mainly because he had a taste for bloodshed.
Sometimes, he went as far as to purchase a castle or a mansion in an indiscreet location; places that he would visit and stay in occasionally instead of travelling and unleashing the animal rage of his beast blood upon some unfortunate fool.
In the world wars, he actively made efforts to slaughter any soldiers that stepped near his grounds. These became places that were shunned and avoided by opposing sides and scouting efforts ended up disasters, so many simply blanked these places out and marked them as no-go areas. For a lot longer than that, though, was the fact that the locals always stayed away from his abodes, for they viewed such places as cursed and evil. Now, in modern day, he keeps things even more well hidden, and has managed to collect many things of mundane and occult nature over the centuries. Mikhael rules a den of Lycans in central Europe, though he often travels over the world. With the recent situation, with humans hunting both species, he treads carefully whenever he goes to areas under quarantine. He seeks to lead the Lycans to supremacy over Human and vampire alike, and to bring an end to those vampires that would hunt Lycans.
