Welcome to the fourteenth edition of the World Lacrosse Championships!

Last time around, the Kytler Peninsulae hosted the tournament and also hoisted the championship trophy. Before that, it was Civil Citizenry in a similar position. Could the top nations continue to dominate - or will someone rise from the bottom to capture glory?

Post here to sign up for the tournament and also to bid to become host. Host bids must include form of scorination, format, and RP grading/bonus; everything else is not necessary, but highly encouraged. Please see the last winning host bid, by the Kytler Peninsulae, if you're looking for a template.

How will you do this?
Well we'll use xkoranate 0.3.3 to scorinate the World Lacrosse Championships, it has proven to be exceedingly reliable over a wide range of sports and even though it has been brought into question recently over the scores generated for lacrosse I do believe it is still an excellent scorinator and will produce what is needed for this tournament.

EDIT: I've contacted The Kytler Peninsulae in order to get the MyLax scorinator, which will be used instead. This does mean style modifiers will be used between -2 and +2.

The latest AWR rankings will be used, i.e. the ones in the opening post.

Role-Play Bonus will be between 0-1, based on quality and of course, creativity. This will be cumulative over the match days, will reset after the group stage and there will be a one-time roster bonus too, which will be rated on the same scale as the role-play bonus. In this way, role-plays are rewarded fully over the course of the tournament.

We will be looking for 32 participants, in eight groups of four, with the top two from each group progressing to the last sixteen, with the tournament being straight knockout from there until we have a champion. The teams will play double round-robin in the group stage, one game at home, one game away, regardless of format.

Tiebreakers in the group stage will be: overall points, head-to-head points, head-to-head goal difference , wins and goal difference. If further tiebreakers are needed it will simply come down to a coin flip.

Cut-offs will be at 9PM GMT every day and I will endeavour to tell you off any absences beforehand if I'm not able to scorinate.

If I win the bid, I will post an IC guide to Mytannion and the tournament. Shiny stadia and all that aren't really what people should be deciding their host bid on, though, not that Mytannion has any shiny stadiums ICly.

Anyway, ask questions and criticise - I've probably missed something there, if I have I'll address it.

A Bournean Bid for the WLC

The WA Summary of the Democratic Republic of Shadowbourne:

The Protectorate of Shadowbourne is a very large, socially progressive nation, remarkable for its burgeoning Mongoose population. Its compassionate, hard-working, intelligent population of 182 million enjoy a sensible mix of personal and economic freedoms, while the political process is open and the people's right to vote held sacrosanct.

Overview:

Shadowbourne is a new nation that has a strong passion for sports. Despite being a newcomer to the international sporting world, Shadowbourne has already hosted two tournaments with a fair amount of success. The first tournament the country hosted was the “KorfBowl”, an international korfball tournament. The KorfBowl was a relatively small, 8 team event, but RP participation was fantastic, and the National Athletics Assembly of Shadowbourne is planning for a second KorfBowl in the future. The second tournament the nation hosted (and is still currently hosting) is the “Fishy Joe’s Bowl”, a Bournean football tournament. The Fishy Joe’s Bowl consisted of a slightly larger field, with Shadowbourne playing host to 10 teams. Despite never having hosted a tournament the size of the WLC, Shadowbourne is confident in their ability to host and feels that they are the perfect choice to host the tournament.

Scorination:

I have contacted TKP to get the MyLAX scorinator. I will use the latest version of AWR rankings, as listed in the OP. the RP bonuses will be scored on a 5 point scale. In an effort to encourage RPing throughout the tournament, the average of a nation’s past role plays will be worth 20% of their RP bonus, and their role play for the current round will count for 80% of their RP bonus. For example, if Nation A had RP’d three times and had scores of .7, .8, and .85, their RP bonus would be the average of .7 and .8 (.75) * .2 (.15), + .85 * .8 (.68). The resulting RP bonus would be .83, the sum of .15 and .68. These RP bonuses would be calculated using a spreadsheet.

Format:

The format would most likely depend on the number of teams in the field, but would consist of group play followed by a single or double elimination (depending on the number of teams) playoffs.

Puppets:

If more teams were required to reach a viable field size, puppets would be accepted on a first come, first serve basis.

Venues:

Games would be played at a variety of stadiums selected from Shadowbourne’s national lacrosse league, the Bournean Lacrosse Federation.

Travel and Accommodations:

Flights would be widely available on Shadowbourne’s premier air travel company, AirBourne, as well as many other international airlines. All flights would come in to the country’s capital, Ridgebourne, at Ridgebourne International. Accommodations would be available through the many hotel chains throughout the country. Public transportation is available throughout the country, and is very clean and very fast, thanks to plenty of government funding.
