Sedgistan has access to all IP's, he's a Game Moderator.

They are two very different things. While one shouldn't be able to ethically exploit game knowledge gained as a moderator, the same restrictions don't apply to knowledge gained as a player; in this case acting as the root admin of a private forum. While it was several years ago that as an admin he trashed the private forum of a prominent region, it's something that should be considered before making them a root admin of something you want to be around for the long haul.

I'll just tell Uropa not to attend the World Fair.

Todd will probably be root however.

EDIT: Game Moderators also have to stay out of Military Gameplay, so filtering IPs to someone would probably count as being involved in Military Gameplay.

I do not have a problem with Sedge being root admin.It would make sense to me if he was........I just wanted it clarified if it would be him or not.

It's off site so I doubt I will be attending. Good luck with it though.

EDIT: I do not believe that game mods have to stay out of gameplay......I am under the impression that is their choice.

I always thought that forum moderators could get involved in gameplay, but game moderators could not. I may be wrong though.

Game moderators participation in Gameplay is at least quite limited.

Euroslavia was nice enough to accept my invite as admin in the NS World Fair; he'll probably be focused on moderating the roleplay venue (which is still being discussed).

I know this is going to be mostly gameplay focused, but can we get some roleplay lecturers too? Perhaps people such as Milograd, Taurenor (former Yohannes), Stoklomolvi, Kyrusia etc could be asked? I know that at least my own region, which is roleplay, will be attending so such a series of lectures would be most interesting.

I've approach Milograd (he's a "maybe"), I've also approached Crimmond, Automagfreek, Questers and (I think??) United Gordonopia. None of the latter have responded to me yet. I'll contact a few others and see what can be done. Originally, the idea was to have Jenrak do a lecture (whose IRC lectures in #sanc were my inspiration for the event), but since the summer when we planned the lectures, she has (understandably) gone on vacation from NS.

Osiris just signed up to join us at the fair and HOLY SHIT the NS World Fair forum looks awesome. I think when we get it all finished and ready for public viewing it's going to blow some socks off. Solm and I, but esp. Solm have been hacking away at the Zetaboards code. xD

EDIT: and apparently The Black Riders are going to be roaming the Fair as well.

It's unavoidable that venues will have some recruitment value since they're promotive of those regions and organizations. I mean, no one is going to design a venue intentionally to make that region look bad.

But I suspect that most participants of the fair will be established players, so the actual capacity of the fair to be a big pit for recruitment is going to be very limited.

I understand it will be promoting regions and organizations.
My concern is there are opportunistic players that will use it as a recruitment pit. Sending spam private messages to anyone on the forum in order to recruit and circumvent NationStates rules on recruiting players in non GCR's.

A good workaround for this would be to not allow PMing.
