Hello, it's 5:00 am. Our top story tonight is that a new nation has arised. We will now be kniwn as the Greater Dutch Republic. The Queen has been asked to step down, and has complied. Here is Markus Fleming to tell us about the story of this historic union with Flanders.

"The Flemish rebellion began two years ago, as Dutchmen in Belgium expressed their desire to join Holland. The Dutch had offered to support them, and now this support has ended in what will be remembered as a great victory. The Belgian nation has now been split in two, with Wallonia remaining Belgian, and Flanders joining our fair nation.
However, it is wrong to think that Flanders will become a "colony". Here are the political rules of the Greater Dutch Republic:
Capital: The Hague
The republic will be split into two provinces: Greater Netherlands, and Flanders. Each province will have its own government. the two governments will meet 3 times a month in The Hague to discuss political issues. Right now, the Dutch government will run both governments until 2025. Then a fair election will take place and a Flemish party will run for the government of Flanders. Until then the leaders of the revolution will be able to vote in parliament on such things as military action, taxes, and education, and more. their vote will be worth a politians vote."
OOC: this means that new lowlands can govern flanders region.
In other news, no more bids to host Euro 2024 have been received. right now, holland and austria are the only two bidding hosts.

Prime Minister Ragnar Thorsson sat at his desk going over the usual boring papers. Oh to be outside on such a beautiful day. His aide walked in with a look he hadn't seen in a long time.
"Sir, I have something to show you." He had a disc in his hand.
"I don't have time for movies, Bjarni."
"No, you really need to see this, NOW." The tone told this wasn't a joking matter.
Bjarni hit play on the disc. The RTE news broadcast recorded from the Irish cable channel played.
"Wha...what is this? A joke?"
Prime Minister Thorsson stood up and strode through two rooms to the window that would show the same view of town that was shown on the news images. Sure enough, there were protestors. The same group of 6 anarchist punks that camped out by the fence every day. They had a protest sign today, but half the time they forgot to bring one. This one said something about the government in the banks pocket. The banks that barely existed. The teen punks never raised their voices and usually ended up joking and sharing smokes with the front gate guards. Today was no exception as they slouched bored against the fence and smoked away.
"I don't get it."
"Its a set up, sir. Why I'm not sure. I think the footage came from the football riots of a couple years ago...and some heavy photoshop editing."

"Th...There's a naval fleet off Vatnajokull, they'll be off Grindavik in another couple hours!" Grindavik was on the hooked peninsula that protected the Reykjavik bay. Keflavik Air Base was at the tip of that peninsula. The closest that they had to a military presence, with rescue craft and a small National Police station, Keflavik was the old base the Americans had abandoned in 2006 when they decided to stop having a permanent presence on the island. If Keflavik fell, it was over. It was over now anyway.
"Are they peaceful?"
"They haven't fired a shot, Sir. Planes are launching, though. They're flying the harp naval jack of Ireland from what we can tell."
"Irish helicopters are landing at Grindavik and Keflavik now, Sir. We're receiving communications from the Irish fleet commander."
"We're screwed."

The people of Eire have been moved to stop the bloodshed in the northern six counties. The local authorities have appealed to us to step in and alleviate the unequal and neglectful treatment they have received at the hands of your government. This bit of Eire has been under your governorship for long enough and we duly request that you remove your garrisons of troops from Belfast, Derry and Armagh to back across the Irish Sea on English soil, where they belong. We request this before our troops move in to help smooth out the troubles that are arising anew there. It would be a shame for there to be further bloodshed between our two great nations over an area that the United Kingdom has expressed a wish to abandon many times in the past. Let us take this 'headache' off of your hands.

Private Hussein was filled with excitement as the warm Italian sea washed over the landing craft and the white gulls circled overhead, chanting their song like sports fans eagerly awaiting the game. Some men were sick over the side as the sea rocked the craft from side to side and sloshed over the sides, filling the bottom with a small pool of water and coating the men's gear with the salty fluid. Hussein breathed deeply, his first engagement was to be charging up a beach, not very glorious at all. He had imagined passing through training quickly and being able to show the girls his new uniform and maybe get to know a few before being shipped off to have what would have its struggles but would ultimately be an adventure. He had imagined coming home a glorious hero and basking in the glee of his family and friends. Not running up a soggy beach.

The landing craft door swung open and Ottoman troops charged out and onto the beach. Hussein watched and followed as his fellow men descended onto the Italian country like a tidal wave. They looked unstoppable.

Then the shelling started.

All of a sudden the huge wave of Ottoman forces became filled with holes as shells exploded into the lines. Hussein dropped to the floor and desperately hung onto his helmet and rifle, hoping that something would save him. He then felt the grasp of his commander's hand round his collar dragging him onto his feet.

"Get fucking moving now!" He screamed, "Or I'll shoot you myself!"

Facing certain death or maybe only severe disability Hussein decided to start moving up the beach. They Ottoman line was moving again and the beach was now taken.

Commandos were having successes: Ottoman special forces were unprepared and unsuspecting such a large attack on such a safe area. Well, they were wrong. Very wrong. After all, attacks should be made in a place where enemy deems the safest, that will be the safest attack. National guards, were not just outgunned but were outclassed by very elite commandos. As they fought, commander radioed, "General, requesting bombardment against enemy at my coordinates". Casey agreed as she commanded, artillery, fire at N 37 23.235, E 27 25.928 full volley; ensuring our troops are not in area. Volley was launched, as holes appeared in enemy lines and approximately 8,000 troops rushed behind lines to raid the base while rest of troops fought the enemy.

Southern Italy
As the enemy troops thought, they had seen it all: they were wrong. Very wrong. 300,000 troops in the area, which were supposed to be locals took up arms and shoot the enemy lines from between the lines. In the meantime, Armoured divisions composed of 800 tanks in total drove up to attack the enemy, supported by 10,000 land troops while the troops in disguise were causing confusion inside enemy lines.

Northern Italy
Troops set up positions to block supplies reaching Ottoman divisions with aim of cutting it off and starving it.

SOUTHERN ICELAND

The Irish fleet was finally rounding Grindavik. The helicopters had landed on several bare patches, parade grounds and even real helipads around the Keflavik base; unloading the Irish Marines and soldiers of Task Force Hot Springs. They had fanned out, battle armor bristling, rifles at the ready, but what skeleton crew of National Police and base guards had been on the grounds, quickly surrendered when faced with overwhelming force. All over Reykjavik, where Irish troops were unloaded, there was little to no incident of violence. A couple police officers and one citizen with a hunting shotgun challenged the troops, but were quickly overtaken and dropped with judicious shots.
General Brian Menehan was ushered into Prime Minister Thorsson's office while the rest of the Task Force was securing the most populated area of Iceland (and that wasn't saying much).
"Prime Minister, I understand this is difficult, and maybe...awkward, but I will need you to issue or broadcast a statement to your people. We need to save lives, both Irish and Icelandic. Not to sound science fiction-y, but resistance is futile."
"Uh...hmm, yes. I suppose you will be handing me some terms? I will broadcast the statement."
"Good. There will be some official terms. I have them in a briefcase my aide is carrying. Right now, paramount is to stop any fighting. Its suicidal on your people's part. It's time to follow my men to the TV station."
"Okay. Do you have a script?"
"Yes, I do. Its almost like you've done this before."
"No, but I'm trying to tap into my last reserve of calm and reason. It's all I have left."
"Prime Minister, you can still have your country if you cooperate."

ACROSS ICELAND

The Víkingasveitin, back from maneuvers in the interior for a week, passively listened. After some cell calls around to the upper echelons, they faded away, packing up their gear and personal weapons. They weren't only Iceland's sole elite paramilitary - counterterrorist organization, they were now it's only hope. They headed out to prepare for a guerrilla war against the new occupiers.

The 30 missile cruisers still attacked at the Ottoman ships, although its ammunitions are almost empty. At the same time, the 50 Sukhoi had arrived at Italy, and helped the Italians against the Ottoman planes.

In the meantime, the military were prepared to be sent to Ukraine and Belarus to defeat the rebels.

At the behest of the Government of the Icelandic Prime Minister Thorsson, Irish troops arrived around Keflavik and Reykjavik to bring the protestors in line and help out the Icelandic National Police. So far, the protests have been quelled and life is returning to normal for the people of Iceland, thanks to our brave peacekeepers.
In Nothern Ireland, the UK government seems ready to come to some terms with Eire in turning over rule to the Republic. British troop garrisons may be close to withdrawing back to England, turning over facilities to soon to be incoming Irish forces.
In other news, Eire has pledged two brigades to the North Atlantic Nordic Alliance in order to fight Russian aggression in Finland. The force is comprised of troops from Norway, Sweden and Denmark. Significant Air support, tanks and naval forces will be shipping out shortly from all the Nordic countries to help bolster Finnish defences and turn back the Russian invasion of this peaceful country.
There may be some Icelandic volunteers too, from our new protected friend. Stay tuned for news about this recent development."

Following a message from the English government, the Scottish government had once again agreed to personal union with the rest if Britain. This time however, the union would be on equal terms. Or at the least...it was hoped to be. The English had learned by now that if they never treated the Scots and Welsh with the propropriate amount of respect as they deserved, there would be continued resistance to the legitimacy of the UK's claim that England, Scotland, and Wales were "countries within a country". They also learned that without proper attention, both Wales and Scotland could easily withdraw from the UK.

With the new United Kingdom by established, there were several changes. The entire British government stepped down to accomodate new officials, and the old House of Windsor had been replaced by the Scottish royal house. The Prime Minister had also been replaced by the Scottish prime minister. Aside from that, the majority of the seats in the UK parliament continued to be occupied by their incumbents, with the addition of the Scottish PMs as well.

President Boris Yekhov, tonight had met with his ministers, and they all agreed to prepared their armies for the Invasion of Scandinavia, in which, he had gained support from Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Poland, and Georgia for the invasion, and they all will supplied men and resources in exchange for investments and loans to their country.

At the same time, The Russian Spetsnaz Assault Corps, had landed themselves at Iceland, in order to helped the Iceland People against The Invaders. They arrived on the unofficial order of FSB and the military. This operation, however, is not authorized by the President, and thus, the government will not helped them if they trapped or surrendered.

The Russia had experienced one of their best wheat harvest and worst sunflower seeds harvest of the first six months.

Despite heavy losses, the Ottoman force surged through the Italian defensive lines. The Italians tried to hold reorganise but were broken over and over. Ottoman planes filled the sky and bombs and missils rained down on the distraught Italian forces. The ground was turned red with the massacre at hand.

Meanwhile, the straits of Messina had been taken and held successfully and the fleet continued up the coast towards Rome and the Empress's palace.

Surrounded, confused and outnumbered by the Italians, the Ottoman invasion force was broken and destroyed. All that remained were small pockets of resistance trying to hold out until they were reached.

The Ottoman fleet was fought off Italian waters and it was decided that both Malta and Sicily would be abandoned to the Italians whilst the Empire prepared a defense force.

The government ordered for every military units near Italy to returned to Russia, as this war, nonetheless, will be at Ottoman's victory.

The Economy and Transportations Ministers now on a meeting to discussed about the investment and renovations of public transports and the agricultures sector.

BENELUX UNITED

Representatives from the Flanders' Temporary Authority and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg today agreed on the conditions of annexation of Luxembourg into the new Dutch Republican State.

Under treaties established earlier via the Benelux Economic Union, conditions include the unification of the two states' militaries, joint political rights, increased economic co-operation, operation under a single Head of State, and in order to prevent Swiss retaliation, the placing of Republican military units in Luxembourgish bases in the south of the country.

The FTA has been campaigning, both politically and on a more local level, for the Luxembourgian State to be absorbed into the Republic by peaceful means for some time, and circumvented Dutch authorities in doing so, in one of it's projects which were planned to be completed prior to unification with the Netherlands.

Reports also mention that Dutch military equipment, such as the F-35, are to be shared across the three members of the Republic.

In other news, a Russian sunflower crop failure has greatly boosted the newly-created BeNeLuxian economy.

The Spetsnaz had reached the first safehouse, an abandoned apartment at small town. They now discussed about how to deal with the situation, when:

ICELAND

The Víkingasveitin, along with new trainees into the Icelandic resistance, had started to fight back against the invaders. Ambushing a checkpoint here and detonating IEDs against small convoys. They took their small casualty toll on the invaders, but large morale toll.

The arrival of the Russian Spetsnaz forces may have been covert, but their probing into civilian areas was immediately noticed. Iceland was like a small town community, everyone knew everyone else's business. Word spread of the new invaders. The Irish were unaware at first.

The leading members of the Víkingasveitin decided that they didn't need to deal with another invader, especially one that might sweep their way to Iceland eventually anyway, as they were swamping Finnish defenses right now. So they discreetly went through anonymous channels to alert the Irish authorities. Several hundred Irish troops converged on the hiding spot of the Russian commandos in a remote village in Iceland. Helicopters did patrols around the area to watch for more intruders and make sure the Russians didn't move to a new hiding spot.

NORWAY

The Irish Nordic Expeditionary Force arrived at Bergen to start their journey across Scandinavia, linking up with Norwegian, Danish and Swedish troops to reinforce the Nordic brigades already holding off the Russian onslaught in Finland.

Several groups of Irish commandos were loaded up into submarines to be offloaded on to points unknown in the Baltic region. Russian logistic lines needed to be severed, so the commandos would link up with various Baltic resistance groups to accomplish their missions.

NORTHERN IRELAND

The two Irish liberation brigades awaited word to move into Derry and Armagh. They had made plenty of friends near the border with their good cheer and optimism and they hoped to win over more hearts and minds in Ulster.

Belfast, Northern Ireland

God Save the King was played as the Union Jack was lowered from atop the Northern Irish Parliament Building in Belfast. A small contigent of UK soldiers comprising of Scots, Welsh, and Englishmen saluted the flag as it came down, before the now former Northern Irish Cabinet head tucked the flag away and pulled out a set of keys.

Placing them on an empty table right before the doors of the Parliament building, the UK delegation stood there respectfully as the Irish flag was pulled atop the building, whereupon the delegation silently left the scene to cheering civilians and celebration.

A message was sent out to the Irish government in Dublin that the symbolic retrocession of Northern Ireland was complete. There was a note attached, however, stating that many UK citizens, who did not switch to Irish citizenship, living in Northern Ireland had no wish to leave and that the UK government would be interested in their safety and well-being.

The Missile Launchers Unit (MLU) were moved towards the border of Russia-Finland to support the mobilization of smaller units, as one month from now, about 100.000 men, 2.450 tanks, 1.000 APC, and many other air vehicles and land vehicles, while the navy will be only prepared for the counter-offensive of the resistances.

At the same time, the Eastern Resistances (ER) declared surrender after their defeat from the Russians, as their base in Ukraine and Belarus were destroyed and burned to pieces.

In other news, General Pikhieu, leader of the Russian Federal Space Agency, had published their newest version of the radio-based satelite navigation system, GLONASS-KK, and it will be used during the Invasion of Scandinavia.

BELFAST, NORTHERN IRELAND

Escorted by two companies of the Northeastern Eire Brigade, the new transition officials from the Republican government arrived by convoy. They were debating marching in in an organized ceremony, but safety concerns overruled that. There were some new residents of the Republic that had no wish to live under the green, white and orange tricolor and may try to disrupt the peaceful transition. The armored convoy arrived at the Parliament building to take posession of the keys and some of the documents left behind. Meanwhile, other units were spreading out in the city to take control of other major stations left behind by the British military. The Northwestern Brigade moved into Derry and the Northern Brigade moved into Armagh, with other units breaking off to secure other former British military stations or dismantle them. All of it went relatively peacefully. There were some protests in and around Belfast from some Protestants loyal to the UK, but they were dealt with and kept subdued. The Belfast Parliament Building became the new HQ of the Northeastern Brigade operations. The other two brigades would be pulling out once things had been secured and settled. The temporary Republican governor addressed a cheering crowd. Then a surprise visit by the Taoiseach got them really ecstatic. He gave a speech:

"Today is an incredible day in history of Eire! We are finally occupation free after generations of oppression and foreign rule. We hope to build a better island with your help out of the financial ashes of the last decade. We welcome our northern brethren back to the fold! Slainte!"

ICELAND

Irish Marines and soldiers had secured the cordon around where the suspected Russian commandos were holed up. They would let them give themselves up before going in to root them out. The Icelandic resistance layed low to await the outcome.

SWEDISH-FINNISH BORDER

The North Atlantic Nordic Alliance Force crossed into Finland to aid the slowly crumbling Finnish military against the Russian invaders. Waves of Swedish, Norwegian, Danish and Irish fighter/bombers attacked the front to keep the Russians at bay as the Nordic artillery and rockets were moved within range. Whole brigades of tanks fanned out to relieve the Finns. The Nordic infantry were airdropped behind the front lines to begin to bolster them.

SOMEWHERE IN ESTONIA

Meanwhile, along a deserted stretch of Estonian coastline, two squads of Irish commandos landed and proceeded inland. They brought extra arms with them for both the Baltic resistance and for the Irish G2 agents who had infiltrated through civilian airline flights into the Russian empire, posing as businessmen.

The Russian Army mobilized its army to the Finland, slowly killed many of the defenders. At the same time, the 5 squad of Russian Spetsnaz Second Assault Corps were dropped from submarine near Finland, to kill the Finland's leaders.

General Alexei Yesondrov was ordered by the President to reactivated the fanatical elite militia, The Ultranationalists, to be prepared for Moscow's Last Defense.

With the withdrawl of the UK from the troublesome Irish territories, the UK Parliament hoped to restore confidence in the new government by showing that England, Scotland, and Wales still had strength to show in the world. The ongoing war against Russian imperialism would be the perfect place to show the power of Britain.

Orders were sent to the UK fleet in Gibraltor to mobilize and prepare for deployment. Meanwhile, the King approved a parliamentary law that the UK would begin economic sanction on the Russia unless they stopped their attack on the Nordic nations.

The temporary government of Flanders today urged the nations of Germany and France to join the British effort against the Russian Federation.

"We do not want our Nordic and Eastern brothers to live under a new tyranny of socialism," the Leader of the Flemish Council is quoted as saying. "France and Germany are, combined, the strongest entity in Europe. Unite, I say, and keep the Russians from re-instituting East Berlin!"

"The Government of Flanders has agreed to cease all imports from Russia of oil and precious metals. There are plentiful alternative sources we can turn our eyes to. Our great people are determined in our opposition of Russian imperialism!"

Deed was done and, what a wonderful deed it was. Reaction of the action was better than the reaction that anyone hopped for. General in front line contacted Field Marshal Eric, "Ottomans are broke and fled!" that was all: Ottoman force had been destroyed and it was far easier than anyone imagined. Out of initial force: casualties were expected to be above 70% but they weren't: casualties were just 8% of initial force. It was an incredible feat. So incredible that Empress herself arrived in the battlefield within fifteen minutes: granting Field Marshal Eric Order of Merit of the Holy Roman Empire and Knighthood on field alongside announcing national party for the victory. Meanwhile, troops sailed to reoccupy Sicily. In Sicily, they were welcomed with flowers and open arms by local populace. While in Malta, where soldiers arrived by plane: it was less so.

FINLAND - SWEDEN

Helsinki was overrun by the Russian mechanized forces. The Nordic defenders fought on and left whatever obstacles they could as they retreated. Tank traps, mines, pits. SAMs were moved in and the NANA (North Atlantic Nordic Alliance) air wing continued bombard Russian forward forces. The Finns prepared to set up resistance in the remote stretches in the North, using Lapp guides who were an autonomous but effective force themselves. The next step was to try to hold the south of Sweden, the next most populated, resource rich chunk of Scandinavia in the Russian path.
