Proletarian Shield I

The Proletarian Shield is Kinitaria's national cup competition. All 256 teams from the six highest tiers of Kinitar football may enter.
Games are played on a best of one basis, at the home ground of the first listed team (semi-finals and the final are played at a neutral venue), with extra time and penalties if necessary.
The draw for one round is made completely at random, immediately after the conclusion of the preceding round.
The cup winner enters the Cygnus Cup for that season, regardless of any other competitions they may be eligible for.

The Iturributan Premier Division: Season 649 Review
Preview

The third season of independent Iturributan football has concluded, with some very interesting results and another dramatic finale as the league went down to the wire.

Premier Division
It was a messy first few matchdays of the season. Sporting Iturributa were held to a scoreless draw at Freedom FC in the first match of them all, while Iturributa United just barely overcame Iturributa Racing Club at The Hippodrome, Elwyn Richard providing the winner. The first meeting between the two came just a week later, with Sporting acting as the home team in Old City Stadium; the 2-2 left nobody happy, though Georghe von Leeweonheouck débuted with a goal for the Scarlet Stripes. Alejandro Martinuccio and Mantzio Janssens scored for the Chevrons, but Sotil Burruchaga's sending off left them in the lurch and allowed Elwyn Richard to equalise late from a header that was debatably onside. Both struggled with consistency for the first quarter of the season, dropping many points, and Iturributa United was even on the receiving end of a humiliating 6-1 dealt to them by Garitzeta Racing Club at Old City.

By MD10 they'd found their rhythm and were firmly entrenched in the top two positions, as was to be expected, and over the course of the next twenty-six would would swap places a total of five times. The first of these wasn't during the next weekend, however, as United received Sporting and they both walked away with a point each, a scoreless draw in which Zernin Aira and his defense were at the very top of their game, turning away Elwyn Richard's shots and Otz Lasuen's passes over and over again. The order continued unaltered until Garitzeta Racing wallopped United again, this time 4-1, and only managed a draw with Iturributa Racing; Sporting didn't let up and stayed true with strings of 1-0 goals, chaining together a full seven matches without conceding a goal. Zernin Aira's clean sheet record of 827 minutes came to an end only at the next Iturributa Derby, when with 36 minutes gone Richard scored from an incredible looping effort struck while sprinting, and United secured the comeback win after a masterful Lasuen pass left Iturraspe alone to chip Aira.

United only took the lead the following week, however, Richard continuing on his warpath with the winner over Independent Garitzeta while Sporting slipped up against Focus FC; Sporting recovered the top a month later, when a brace from Freedom FC's Urtatz Gaubeka was enough to equalise their match against the Scarlet Stripes. This stint at the top was short-lived though, Sporting proving how fragile the balance is by losing the lead six days later after a disastrous visit to Sorokin's Old Boys. United's draw with Andozketa Wanderers and Sporting's win over Garitzeta Racing put them level on 58 points, 26 matches played; two more derbies came and went, United winning the first 2-1 thanks to a sublime pass from Zabal Lizaran that was picked up by Mayu Yurrita and the second ending in a 1-1 draw after Alejandro Martinuccio shook off half the opposition defense and the keeper, cancelling out the penalty converted by Norman Carter.

Both sides went into the final matchday with 74 points each and the certainty that if they finished level it would all be decided in a play-off at Old City Stadium. Sporting, at Old City Stadium, took on the strong Iturributa Racing Club - who whould finish third in the table no matter what - and United travelled to Soloandia to play the relegation-threatened Sorokin's Old Boys. Both were expected to win, but intense drama was to come. Sporting got off on the right foot with an Iker Malik goal and kept Iturributa Racing under control, as did United with Sorokin's until the second half, when new sensation Erroman Kubelik equalised. This riled up the crowd despite Andozketa Wanderer's temporary win over Independent Garitzeta doomed them to the drop, and despair set in for the United camp. In the second half, passes went astray, shots didn't find the target and the defense leaked all around. The news of Mendazona bagging Sporting's second and Andozketa scuppering their lead intensified the action; it was pandemonium at the Colossus when Kubelik made it 2-1, saving his club from relegation and handing the Premier Division title to Sporting Iturributa.

Sporting conquer their second title in a row largely thanks to the efforts of its defense, led by the tireless Sotil Burruchaga, which broke a long-standing club record by conceding just 19 goals in 36 matches. Aclever midfield that knew how to keep possession and manage the ball also went a long way, and a pair of cold-blooded finishers up front provided just enough goal to keep them alive, without excess. United, for their part, may have suffered some massive misfortune, but still have very much to be proud of. 88 goals, 38 of them scored by the talismanic Elwyn Richard, are nothing to be scoffed at. The squad is still in a stage of change as some move on and others arrive, and the lack of decisiveness in the crucial final minutes of the season could be traced back to the absence of Petter Bielsen, which should heal over time.

How did the rest do? About as well as one has come to expect. Iturributa Racing and Freedom FC secured third and fourth place like in seasons past, the latter not showing great weakness after the departure of Emenon Boneta, while Garitzeta Racing and Independent Garitzeta put in a credible threat for the Globe Cup. Stuck in the middle of them and the relegation battle was Focus FC, who hung onto early results to see them through to the end. Sorokin's Old Boys, having registered 8 points by MD23, went into overdrive for the final third of the season and came away with 24 largely thanks to Erroman Kubelik, previously top scorer of the Premier Division B and protagonist of the epic final game of the season that saved them from relegation to the detriment of Iturributa United and Andozketa Wanderers, who could not cling onto the top flight in their second year there.

Premier Division B
After Langaraitz Rovers' solid performance last season, they were prime candidates for a return to top-flight football, and were indeed the top scorers, but Axpuru Castle was superior and left them in the dust of the SBCC consolation by a full ten points, along with Markiniz Union. Baker's Eleven, of a very Citiz founding, will make their international début after leaving both Guenara City and Providence Mytanars wanting.

A fairly routine preliminary round, in which the second tier sides are pitted against each other before those from the top flight join in the fun. Uzio Blackstar and Markiniz Union stomped all over Landaluz Casuals and Langaraitz Rovers, Baker's Eleven trumped Providence Mytanars in a duel of immigrant clubs and two ties went to extra-time; Bipagoun Town went through over the eventually-promoted Axpuru Castle after a very late winner and Guenara City breathed some fresh air after doing the same to Erretana United.

The Round of 16 held no 'cupsets', but it still gave much to talk about. Sporting lost the second leg of their tie to Andozketa Wanderers, but hardly cared after winning the first one by five goal; United didn't have that problem as they crushed Palmandoak home and away, Elwyn Richard pouncing on every chance. Baker's Eleven trounced Bipagoun Town in an unexpectedly one-sided tie, while Iturributa Racing put down Markiniz Union and Freedom FC just narrowly edged the feisty Guenara Defender. Focus FC didn't have much trouble overcoming Uzio Blackstar either, and Sorokin's Old Boys was the victor in a tie that pitted the team promoted to the Premier Division against the relegated one. The most attractive pair of matches was doubtless the Garitzeta Derby, Independent incapable of beating Racing at Martyrs Arena in a heated second leg.

Quarterfinals

Sporting Iturributa 3-0 Baker's Eleven
Baker's Eleven 0-2 Sporting Iturributa (0-5 agg)

Iturributa United 1-1 Iturributa Racing Club
Iturributa Racing Club 2-1 Iturributa United (3-2 agg)

Focus FC 1-3 Freedom FC
Freedom FC 3-0 Focus FC (6-1 agg)

Garitzeta Racing Club 2-0 Sorokin's Old Boys
Sorokin's Old Boys 0-1 Garitzeta Racing Club (0-3 agg)

Baker's Eleven were the only second-tier side in the quarterfinals, and their dream was cut short in the most brutal fashion by Sporting Iturributa. Freedom FC and Garitzeta Racing Club beat Focus FC and Sorokin's Old Boys without much trouble, but the biggest upset by far was the elimination of Iturributa United at the hands of Iturributa Racing, the underdogs holding out at Old City Stadium and then outplaying their opponents at The Hippodrome to reach the semifinals.

Semifinals

Sporting Iturributa 1-0 Iturributa Racing Club
Iturributa Racing Club 0-1 Sporting Iturributa (0-2 agg)

Freedom FC 0-1 Garitzeta Racing Club
Garitzeta Racing Club 2-0 Freedom FC (3-0 agg)

Iturributa Racing was good enough to beat United, but Sporting's defensive positioning was an entirely different creature, allowing no goals and securing the win home and away by the minimum amount, booking their place in a final they were now undisputed favourites for; winning would mean an incredible two doubles in a row. Meanwhile, Garitzeta Racing earned two decisive victories over Freedom FC to, in some measure, recover their pride if not a Globe Cup spot, and reached their very first domestic cup final.

Final
First Leg:
@ Old City Stadium, Iturributa
Sporting Iturributa 2-0 Garitzeta Racing Club

Second Leg:
@ Letatzadur Stadium, Garitzeta
Garitzeta Racing Club 1-1 Sporting Iturributa
(1-3 agg)

Garitzeta Racing Club humiliated Iturributa United all throughout the season, but had no reply when pitted against Sporting Iturributa. Both placed their emphasis on defense, possession, counter-attacks and forward opportunism, and it was the side with the better players that proved how to better implement such a strategy. Racing was incapable of adapting to the circumstances of Old City, and when their option on home ground came it was too late, Alejandro Martinuccio cutting off their hopes of a comeback with a powerful strike. Order and efficiency, the main characteristics of a Sporting Iturributan that has now won two consecutive doubles and have gotten closer to shaking off their inferiority complex; will United recover the initiative next season, or are there other surprises yet in store?

Oppic Football.

2004/2005 Season.

The Toppskiktet is one of the most eagerly contested leagues there is, with most teams having a chance in any given season to do well. This year was no different, with the top four clubs separated by only eight points at the end of the season. It was similar at the lower end of the table, too, with the teams from 12th down to bottom, 16th separated by eight points too. The top level of Oppic football really serves up a footballing feast every single week of every single season. Teams like FC Framro '08, Keflavik '93 and Hedmark City were the favourites going into this season and one of the three certainly lived up to expectations, as you can see below from the final league table:

Oppic Toppskiktet Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts
1 FC Framro '08 30 19 5 6 69 42 +27 62 Champions, CC
2 Esbjerg '82 30 19 4 7 60 35 +25 61 GC
3 Keflavik '93 30 18 5 7 56 33 +23 59 GC
4 Framro Kickers 30 16 6 8 55 39 +16 54 GC
5 Malmo City 30 14 7 9 59 42 +17 49
6 Hedmark City 30 14 5 11 64 53 +11 47
7 Ystad Borough 30 14 5 11 50 41 +9 47
8 SC Comet Nuuk 30 14 5 11 46 45 +1 47
9 IFK Ostfold 30 11 5 14 47 61 −14 38
10 Sportlik Framro 30 10 6 14 43 46 −3 36

14 Jokkmokk Rovers 30 7 6 17 41 49 −8 27 R
15 Tromso City 30 5 11 14 43 67 −24 26 R
16 Sportlik Norrkoping 30 6 6 18 38 60 −22 24 R

FC Framro '08 narrowly won the 2004/2005 Toppskiktet title, their creative attacking midfielder, Tyko Rissanen leading them to the league title. The 22 year old is already being linked with big teams in Mytannion, including Litala '93 and Liria Prizren. He scored 18 goals and assisted in 13 more to take the Player of the Season Award. He wasn't the leagues top goalscorer though, that fell to Hedmark City forward Jon Grise Fjordun, the 20 year old scored 23 goals in the season, forming part of a lethal strikeforce with Miki Sipilainen who contributed 18 more goals. The two are being linked with Liria Prizren, who are Hedmark City's parent club, a combined fee of around £12 million would be required to get the two players, though.

Esbjerg '82 performed way beyond expectations, they were thought of as a mid-table team in most Oppic media before this season started. They managed to put together a great run of games, where they went unbeaten for 12 games that earned them 32 points and shot them up the table towards the end of the season. The Blue and White support certainly enjoyed this run that saw them qualify for international competition. Keflavik '93 won't be too disappointed with their season, they challenged for the title after all, but they probably would have wanted to finish in the top two, really. Their goalkeeper, Ludvig Vissing will probably be on his way to Mytannion too - and in all likeliness, Zenit Esca, who have money to spend after selling goalkeeper Kondrat Istomin to Bastion in FSSO. Framro Kickers will also be pleased with their season, having managed to stretch their lead over the next closest, Malmo City, for the fourth international competitions spot.

Down at the other end of the table, Sportlik Norrkoping finished bottom with 24 points, having managed to only win 6 games all season, the team that finished one place above them, Tromso City only managed 5 wins, but they drew more games. They still only accumulated 26 points and got relegated, Jokkmokk Rovers only finished a point better off, but they were relegated on the last day of the season. As they drew their final game of the season and 1923 Malmo won theirs, giving them enough points to stay up on the last day.

FK Nadendal performed well above expectations to grab the Andraligan title, a well-drilled team can work wonders in this division, it seems. Their long-ball football wasn't favoured by many in the media, with many speaking out against it, but it definitely works and shows how a team should play to their strengths, if anything. 1977 Kvivik managed to finish runners-up and qualify for the SBCC as well, with Tromso Rovers and AFK Esbjerg grabbing the final two qualifying positions for the SBCC and both qualifying through to the play-offs. Asnen Town and Jevnaker FF rounded off the top six.

Tromso Rovers travelled to Jevnaker FF in the play-offs and lost 3-0 in the first leg, so when Jevnaker went to Tromso for the second leg, the home team had a mountain to climb. They managed to win 2-0, but that wasn't enough. AFK Esbjerg went to Asnen Town and drew with them, 2-2. In the return leg a late, late goal from Asnen Town made the travelling fans very happy and the flares they brought with them were lit up in celebration as they stayed behind twenty minutes to cheer on their team.

Asnen Town and Jevnaker FF to play for the final spot in the Toppskiktet for the 2005/2006 season, Jevnaker would be the biggest surprise in the top flight - and they shocked everybody by winning the play-off final. Joris Larson struck twice for Jevnaker to win the game for them and send them to the Toppskiktet for next season.

V-League: 32nd Season Tropical Trophy
(Note: The Tropical Trophy is a seasonal competition between the Vilitan Stellar Division Champions and Vilitan Cup Champions. There has been some controversy as to whether it is a "Season Ending" event or a "Season beginning" event, though it has tended to be closer to the start of the new season, then the end of the previous one. For this seasons Tropical Trophy, The V-League Stellar Division Champions (Makosile) & Vilitan Cup Champions (Jungle Strike FC) were invited.

A revamped Makosile side, fresh off indulging themselves in a fruitful offseason, took the field against Tropical Trophy heavyweights Jungle Strike FC at the Tivali Ring Stadium. For Makosile, it was just the second ever Tropical Trophy appearance, losing once before to Strike during Season 24. For Strike, it would be their 18th appearance in 32 editions of the competition, the most of any team. However, Strike had been upset in the previous two Trophy's by the Turoki Tide and Kiiarana City, two sides that had never previously competed in, no less won the Tropical Trophy.

For Strike, their roster was mainly unchanged, loaded with Vilitan National Team starters and a few foreigners such as Krytenian defender Matt Ordish. For Makosile, it was a new look side that featured signings such as Sirkii Moliaudo, Loala Kigoouao and Cedicii Tzatzos. The only familiar faces were long time goalkeeper Atacir Tivalan and Mangolanan refugee JD Fuller.

It was Kigoouao who would have the first chance when play began, pressing Nycflala Kater into the early save. Strike responded quickly, putting pressure on the Makosile goal but Tivalan was also equal to the task.

In one of the most frantic Tropical Trophy starts in recent memory, it was only the two goalkeepers keeping the scores level at the half time interval, with both sides attacking directly with a slew of chances to take the lead. In the end, the only mark on the referees scorecard at half time was a yellow card that was given to Makosile's Fuller.

Newly acquired Audioslavian midfielder Calaexa Jeroen was substituted by the Strike FC coaching staff, replaced by Turorian Tiika Diirotora giving the favorites a slightly different look in the second half.

The match continued on with the goalkeepers steeling the show, saving everything that the players on either side could throw at them, proving why both were part of Calaesa Mitaroka's selection during qualifiers for World Cup 61. At the end of 90 minutes, there were 15 shots taken, evenly split between the two sides, and not one had found its way to the back of the net. Makosile were for real, proving their Stellar Division title during season 31 was no steal, while Strike were also showing that they have no intention on sitting back and watching the Makos repeat.

It all looked certain for penalties afer 20 minutes of extra time had done nothing despite the fact that the chance kept coming. Then, it all changed in the 111th minute. Makosile's keeper Tivalan collected the ball after Yves Gadois sent a glorious chance skyward, completely missing what looked to be the go ahead opportunity. Kicking the ball up field, Tivalan found Turorian defender Lioniaa Tana at midfield. Tana took a few strides forward, looking side to side for the outlet before deciding to fire a ridiculous effort from 35 yards out. Uncharacteristically off his line, not sensing any danger yet, the outstretched arms of Nycflala Kater could do nothing as the ball bounced just in off the upright, placed perfectly - whether by accident or skill - by the high flying Tana who wheeled away to celebrate with the rest of the Makos squad.

It was the perfect complement to the Season 31 title for Makosile, adding their second piece of silverware to the collection. For Strike, it was a third consecutive defeat in the Tropical Trophy competition that they had previously been so dominant in, setting a bitter taste in their mouths to start Season 32.

Teams:
Strike FC: Nycflala Kater, Matt Ordish (KRY), Azestella Ajhabekk (STR), Miiara Makose, Ritopa Simafela, Relmar Winauat, Jian Lejsrma, Retiso Buran, Calaexa Jeroen (AUD), Yves Gadois, Jomur Hulyer

Makosile: Atacir Tivalan, Asa Diijelhma, Moia Fliporta, Lioniaa Tana, Tyaoino Munviola, Rutaj Ranaso, Cristoh Nrubari, JD Fuller (MNG), Sirkii Moliaudo, Loala Kigoouao, Cediici Tzatzos

MID-SEASON SUMMARY

Image

OPENING DAY SUMMARY:
After celebrating throughout the offseason, and then in Alikki-Corra during the Tropical Trophy, the honeymoon finally ended for Makosile who were held 1-1 at home by Kionao Locals Turori to kick off their title defense, allowing Arcticala Inlet, 3-1 Winners over the Yeaddin Owls despite the dismissial of goalkeeper Aranora Jaded, to take the early lead in the table. The most high-profile clash was in Lonngeylin where Season 29 champions and runners-up Strike FC and the Turoki Tide squared off in a potential 6-pointer. Strike came out in a 4-5-1 formation which meant splitting up the attacking tandem of Viji-mara Lawaai and Yves Gadois. Lawaai was unsuccesful, and the tactical change at the half saw Gadois enter the fray and make the difference, scoring the winner in the 83rd minute to keep Strike level at the top of the table.

THROUGH MATCHDAY 6:
Makosile's slow start to the season continued as they fell to the Turoki Tide 3-1 in the biggest matchday on Matchday 2, setting up the big rematch at the Lonngeylin Coliseum on Matchday 3. Having already faced each other in an epic 120 minute Tropical Trophy duel, many expected another tooth-and-nails fight between Vilita's top two sides on Matchday 3. It was not the case, however, as Strike dominated the match, thrashing 4 goals past a helpless Atacir Tivalan as a distressed Makosile slipped to the bottom of the Stellar Division table. The Venom nearly extended their lead atop the table even further when facing Arcticala Inlet on Matchday 5, but Lita Adjei's 89th minute equalizer kept the rest of the Stellar Division within reach as unbeaten Strike were held to a draw. Rising Mavaloiao signalled their intention to challenge for a UICA place with their 2-0 victory over Cednia Beach AFC on matchday 6 keeping them within 2 points of leaders Strike FC in sole possession of second place with Turoki United, Eastal Lunar, Turoki Tide and Cednia Beach AFC within 4 points of the top.

THROUGH MATCHDAY 10:
The Stellar Divisions last two unbeaten teams, Eastal Lunar FC and Strike FC, home of Vilitan National Team starting goalkeepers Jungrii Canopii and Nycflala Kater, respectively, met at the Lonngeylin Coliseum on Matchday 7. As expected, it was a bit of a goalkeepers duel, but eventually it was Lunar who broke through with the 1-0 victory to become the Stellar Divisions last unbeaten side for Season 32, and pull within 1 point of Strike atop the table in second place. The Venom then needed to rebound on Matchday 8 by travelling to Turori to face off with Cednia Beach where the story was much of the same, the 1-0 result propelling the Turorian side to the top of the table with Strike slipping 2 points back, now level with still-unbeaten Eastal Lunar.
Mavaloiao's dream start also came crumbling down as a pair of goals from Dulce Cervantez boosted the Yeaddin Owls in a 4-1 result.

Cednia Beach survived the battle of Turori with Eric Tyler cancelling out Hilary Vander Rox's effort for the home side before Cednia pulled ahead for the 2-1 victory to maintain their perch atop the Stellar Division Table with Strike FC and the Turoki Tide just two points behind. Eastal Lunar finally suffered their first defeat, falling to 5 points back, just one point clear of their undoers Turoki United. Disharmony in Makosile was ever present, but the players finally seemed to be getting their act together with wins over Mavaloiao and Turoki pulling them out of the relegation zone, still within reach of the top places.

THROUGH MID-SEASON:
Cednia Beach were held by the Turoki Tide 0-0 in a top of the table clash on Matchday 11 allowing Strike, winners over winless Nusira Lionta, to take advantage and sneak back level with the Turorian side. Cednia's title hopes were dealt another blow at the Track Venture Field as Makosile positioned themselves for a climb back up the table with the 3-1 victory. Then, on the final matchday before the break, Cednia Beach hosted rivals Arcticala Inlet and were upended once again in a back and forth match that twice saw the home side with the lead, but inevitably, the Electricians powered through to the 3-2 victory.

Strike kept their position atop the table heading into the break, 2 points clear of the Turoki Tide. Arcticala Inlet were still within striking range 5 points back with Eastal Lunar and Turoki United hanging on 2 points further back. Defending Champions Makosile found themselves 10 points behind the leaders after defeating the Yeaddin Owls 2-1; who fell into the relegation zone. Winless Nusira Lionta were 12 points behind any signs of safety

OPENING DAY SUMMARY:
On their returns to the Declasse division, the Terrarokka Spirit travelled to the National View Stadium where they earned a hard fought draw with Inland Peaks and Crosaibi Locals travelled to Jlinal Cove Complex where they were defeated 0-1. Pre-Season favorites Turoki Isle were crushed 3-0 at Lonngeylin Park by Lonngeylin Coast while just up the shoreline, Marine Coast defeated Tivali United 2-1 to take an early foothold into the promotion places.

THROUGH MATCHDAY 8:
Lonngeylin Coast continued their dominance of the declasse table with an unbeaten start through 8 games, outscoring their opposition 13-3 in the process and holding a 3 point advantage over 3rd-placed Jlinal Cove with Morata Valley sandwiched between them in the second promotion place. Promotion challengers Marine Coast United were having a stop-start season, with 4 victories and 4 defeats while Inland Peaks were trying to do something that no side had ever done before - fail to win, or lose, a single match. Though both Inland Peaks an Lonngeylin Coast were unbeaten after 8 matches, only Inland Peaks was also winless, having drawn all 8 of their matches, the first 6 of which without scoring a goal. It was not until Inland Peaks squared off with fellow unbeaten Lonngeylin Coast on Matchday 7 that they finall were able to score their first goal of the season, in the first minute of the match none-the-less, but Lonngeylin Coast was not to be denied, finding the equalizer to sustain the status quo for both sides.

THROUGH MID-SEASON:
There was no clear favorite as the Declasse season reached the midway point. All the unbeatens had now lost, Lonngeylin Coast falling to Jlinal Cove and Inland Peaks to the Lopinka Rovers. Four teams fighting for two spots, all level on points with Turoki Isle having recovered from their slow start to join the fray along with the usual suspects, while Marine Coast United and Lopinka sat within 2 points, ready to take advantage of any opportunity to challenge for promotion back to the Stellar Division.

After having just rejoined the league, the Terrarokka Spirit appeared favorites for a quick drop at the foot of the table, joining Tivali United and Tivali City with just one win a piece in the fight for survival.

Pod 2: The shock of the tournament, perhaps not limited to Season 32, came at Corra Park in the capital city as 3-time defending cup champions, and winners of 6 of the previous 8 editions, Strike FC crashed out spectacularly due to an own goal and a 0-1 defeat to non-league side Corra Rovers. The rovers have been putting all of their focus into the Cup in recent seasons, and the rewards have been there, with this being the third straight attempt where they have qualified for the knockout phase. Ironically, it was Strike FC who dumped Corra out of the competition with a 3-0 result during their last appearance in the knockout phase. Joining the Rovers in the knockout stage will be Declasse side Kiiara-Torra AFC, who defeated Rammsissil to clinch their spot.
Pod 3: Saugeain forward Kuzman Ruslan led the charge for Mavaloiao FC as the newly promoted Stellar Division side topped the third pod where they will be joined by Non-League side Riailia Village who snuck through over fellow Non-Leaguers Jaguar Moreda.
Pod 4: Stellar Division side Nusira Lionta had no issues in Pod 4, getting by non-league side Mavaloiao City at Mavaloiao Park to secure their place in the Second Round. Declasse side FC Almintora was not as fortunate, falling to the Alikki Locals who advanced to the second round for the 6th time in club history.
Pod 5: Pod 5 was circled in many books as the most interesting of all the draws, pitting two of Turori's most famous cup success stories together. Kionao Locals and Cedniavella, the only two Turorian sides to ever bring home silverware on the international level, having both won the UICA Series 'B' Champions Cup, squared off for a single place in the Vilitan Cup second round at the Kionao Minor Field. In the end, it was the Stellar Division side that ruled the day. Despite the slim 1-0 scoreline, Kionao easily defeated Cedniavella who despite a few attempts, failed to trouble the Kionao goalkeeper. Former League side Alikki-Corra, pride of the Vilitan capital, also advanced edging out the Lopinka Rovers.
Pod 6: There were no real surprises in the 6th pod as Eastal Lunar FC, led by Vilitan National Team goalkeeper Jungrii Canopii, recorded a 1-0 victory over Declasse side Morata Valley to advance. Declasse side Jlinal Cove FC also advanced after their 1-0 victory over non-league side Tkaob Inland.
Pod 7: Season 30 Cup runners-up Colonial Sile had no problem taking down non league opposition to advance to the knockout stage while Declasse side Inland Peaks rode a strong performance from Audioslavian National Team member and club captain Delain Colgan to dispose of Tivali United and earn their place in the second round.
Pod 8: The favorites ruled the day in Pod 8 as Cednia Beach AFC, still looking to become the first Turorian side to lift the Vilitan Cup after 31 seasons, trounced non-league side Lonngeylin City by a 4-1 scoreline to top the pod. Declasse favorites Turoki Isle also advanced, defeating fellow declasse side Crosaibi Locals 1-0.
Pod 9: Defending league champions and Tropical Trophy Winners Makosile were drawn famously with Sile Town who were no-match for their cross-city rivals. Sirkii Moliaudo and Loala Kigoouao scored for the champs in the 2-0 victory as they look to set off on a clean sweep of Vilitan silverware in Season 32. The Makos would be joined in the Knockout phase by the Turoki Tide who defeated declasse side Terrarokka Spirit by the same scoreline.
Pod 10: The Yeaddin Owls crashed out at the first hurdle after being defeated 1-0 at Jlinal Park by non-league side Jlinal City. Stellar Division rivals Arcticala Inlet did not have the same issues, recording a 1-0 victory over declasse side Tivali City at the Council Stadium.
Pod 11: Marine Coast United defeated Stellar Division side Mliona-Lpaka Turori 1-0 at Marine World Park after a Dalian Kiawooi goal coupled with a missed penalty kick by the Turorian side. Elsewhere, at the Lavaoi Rapids Stadium, an Erocka Lorei goal was not enough for Kiiarana City who crashed out 2-1 to former league side Yutzie Sorma.

Vilitan Cup Round 2:
Despite the fact that half of the teams in Round 2 of the Vilitan Cup were non-league sides, only one progressed - that being Alikki-Corra who knocked out fellow non-league side Yutzie Sorma. Arcticala Inlet, Inland Peaks, Turok Tide and Eastal Lunar were all successful in knocking out their non-league foes without so much as conceding a goal while Jlinal Cove needed extra time to defeat Declasse promotion chasing rivals Turoki Isle 2-1.

Vilitan Cup Round of 16:
Alikki-Corra v. Cednia Beach
Makosile v. Turoki United
Colonial Sile v. Kionao Locals
Nusira Lionta v. Marine Coast United
Turoki Tide v. Inland Peaks
Mavaloiao v. Arcticala Inlet
Jlinal City v. Eastal Lunar
Kiiara-Torra v. Jlinal Cove

The fourth season of the Liventia–Ad’ihan Professional Football League has now taken place, with 106 clubs from the two countries competing for the right to be called Liventian or Ad’ihani champions. The tiebreakers across all five divisions of the LAPFL are constant: head-to-head results, head-to-head goal difference, goal difference, head-to-head goals scored, goals scored, head-to-head away goals, away goals, wins.

For the first time since the leagues' resurrection, it will send two teams to the Champions’ Cup, meaning the top five teams in the A Premier League will qualify for international tournament.

This season saw two teams run away at the top of the Second Division, with Riverston Golden Tigers finishing on 117 points, 24 ahead of second placed Royal Port Stanley who themselves finished 21 points ahead of third. With Caernvill SeaHawks finishing in midtable in the division above for the second year running, the LAPFL will now see a mini-Ides of March twice a season with the Royal Rumiatzi-linked RPS and Jan Mayen Islanders-affiliated SeaHawks playing in the same league.

LAPFL Season 4
Premier League
Defending double winners Navon Beach might be forgiven for thinking this season has been a waste, as they finished sixth and were knocked out in their first match of the Premier League Cup to ensure they would not be playing international football next season. Mountbatten Junction, league champions two seasons ago, reached the final of the cup but lost to Mountain FC. They would make it up when they beat the same team to second in the league on head-to-head results and secured the Ad’ihani title in addition to Champions’ Cup football. But at the top of the league, after many long years away from the title, were Orean United, new LAPFL and Liventian champions.

1094-95 Charmunnry football season

Having hit twenty years of age, organised football within Ancharmunn continues to grow at a steady, though slow, pace. Growth has however slowed in recent years, as exemplified by near neighbours Ossidiacqua having overtaken Ancharmunn in the UICA coefficients. It is at least still above the Aelsh league. There are two main competitions in the country, the fourteen team National Soccer League and the All-Ancharmunn Challenge Cup which sees thirty-two teams competing on a knockout basis. Whilst a Junior League, split into two regional divisions, exists below the NSL it is essentially a glorified Sunday League and no movement between the NSL and Junior League occurs. Junior League members do however participate in the Challenge Cup.

During its existence Charmunnry football has been largely amateur, however the influx in recent years of Sorthern immigration to the country has bought a degree of professionalism to the sport. As a result of this Charmunnry football has begun participating on a worldwide and regional scale by joining UICA and regional competitions. Four seasons of this was supposed to have improved the quality of the sport drastically, and results are beginning to be seen. University researches have shown a direct correlation between the number of pigeons dying in the vicinity of football grounds and more controlled clearances by agricultural defenders.

Tyneala Championship
Code: Select all
1093 Pentref-ar-y-Bae 1–1 Goidelic (2–1 AET) - Bay's Own
1092 Ballymairead Town 1–1 Pentref-ar-y-Bae (1–1 AET) (4–3 pen.) - Old Chicken Ranch
1091 Doversham County 3-2 Ballymairead Town - Bank of Aels Arena
1090 Goidelic 0-1 Trechoid Wanderers – Paradise

Last season's NSL win by Dinas Drefhil did throw up the interesting proposition of the Tyneala Championship being an all Aelsh affair. The Football Commission of Aels however stepped in to prevent the Exiles from participating and instead second placed Seersha County represented Ancharmunn's National Soccer League. As tends to happen the Charmunnry side lost. Pentref-ar-y-Bae meanwhile become the first team to retain the Championship.

Seersha County 1–2 Pentref-ar-y-Bae

Following last season's surprise winners this season was quite a return to normality. Goidelic picked up a tenth championship, whilst Ballymairead Town were able to put their annus horribilis behind them to take up a rather more familiar, and comfortable, position in the final table. Not far behind and rounding off the top three was Red Star, who achieved their highest finish in a decade. Defending champions Dinas Drefhil meanwhile finished in 7th, something more akin to the comforting mid-table obscurity one has to come to expect from them since their switch to Charmunnry football.

Caernankry City came into this season looking to defend their Challenge Cup victory of last season. However whilst they can claim to be undefeated, at least in match play, for two seasons in the cup the trophy no longer resides at Lackenry Road. Via a penalty shootout it has instead found it's way to the Dynamos trophy room at Ballymairead's Old Chicken Ranch. Whilst Town have twice brought the trophy back to the Ranch it is the first time that Dynamos have done so. The highlight of their run to maiden success was their semi-final victory over Clotariens. It was by no means their most commanding victory, nor a match that the defence will remember too fondly, but a six goal ninety minutes provided plenty of thrills and spill. Even better was that extra time for once didn't disappoint, a topsy turvy encounter continued with Dynamos coming back from an early goal in extra-time to come out on top thanks to the odd goal in nine. The only shame is that such form wasn't carried over to the final, there instead a dull goalless extra-time following a 1-1 draw lead to Caernankry losing their title without actually losing the match.

Not unlike its counterpart in Ancharmunn, Aelsh football has largely been semi-professional through its 25-year history. Although the league is older than the Charmunnry counterpart by 5 years, Aelsh football remains largely low key, and the country does not maintain a national team. Recent subpar performances by Aelsh clubs at UICA level continue to disappoint fans, who are still unwilling to spend significant amounts of money to support their clubs.

To correct this, the FCA, in conjunction with the Drayfill City Council, have built a new 32,000-seater New Free Stone national stadium, currently being used for the Rushmori Games. After the conclusion of those Games the stadium will be used to host all major finals, as well as matches for Drayfill Town. This is the last season in which top flight teams are allowed to play in stadia under 6,000 capacity; all teams from next season must play in a stadium that size or larger.

This season saw the first expansion of the league, in its silver jubilee season. While it was the 26th year of the league, the 1084–85 season was suspended due to a strike and does not count in the record books, hence giving the 1094–95 season the honour. The ten new teams joined the Second League. They were semi-professional sides Harling Islanders, Llanislwyn Town, Brackendale Charmunnry, Hilshore County, Pontyport Athletic, Spitalford Town, Nantnewydd and Goldcliff Rangers, as well as two amateur sides in Moulton Seasiders and Caerfremin Sundays.

Drayfill City (now Dinas Drefhil) played in the league until 1074/5 before moving to the Charmunnry league system. The FCA are the governing authority for that club, who play in the Ancharmunn league and cup system and won the league for the first time this season, but an agreement with Ancharmunn means Drayfill City may only be nominated for international competition by Ancharmunn.

After the lack of relegation last season to accommodate the expansion, the league reverted to a one-down, one-up format, with the proviso that any club gaining promotion must have a suitable stadium (either by expansion or groundshare) meeting the league's requirements.

Before the season began, title holders Pentref-ar-y-Bae travelled Charmunnry runners-up Seersha County for the traditional preseason Tyneala Championship after last season's shock title win by Aelsh side Dinas Drefhil, and were able to defend their national title.

In the Second League, CCPD Brifddinas once again finished in a promotion spot, this time by winning the division. Having declined promotion last season due to stadium considerations, they have now agreed to be promoted after agreeing a deal to play at the Racecourse, Drayfill Town's current ground, from next year.

(OOC: I snuck last season’s Paripanan league results in here.)

Image

Four of the biggest names in football are set to converge upon the Obelisco Monumental in Lasft, Cafundéu on one special night that will celebrate a half-century of UICA competition.

Fifty years of unity
Shortly before the seventeenth edition of the Champions’ Cup, its organizers met with those of the Globe Cup to unite their four closely-linked competitions under a single administration, the Union of International Club Associations. Since its formal establishment, UICA has overseen twenty-five seasons of world-class football, a tremendous growth of the club game into countless new countries, the commendation of its efforts by the World Assembly, and the transformation of clubs like Fontvielle Impact and SK Franz Josef City from oft-misspelled minnows to giants of the game. A new sponsorship model, replacing the old competition-specific deals with the more lucrative UICA Partner system, has helped multiply payouts to the participating clubs and member associations to unprecedented levels. UICA’s reign has also seen Yuba United add four Champions’ Cup titles to its previous two, making them the first club to earn the UICA Star award and permanent possession of the competition’s original trophy.

Fifty reasons to watch
UICA has chosen to top its birthday cake with two delectable matches. The first will be Petardos S/A’s final appearance in UICA competition for the forseeable future after the Confederação Cafundelense de Futebol Masculino decided to suspend its participation for economic reasons; the club had played in the Champions’ Cup group stage for forty consecutive seasons. Although several of its players left for greener pastures since that decision, Petardos S/A has worked with UICA and their new clubs to facilitate their return for this match. Vanorian heavyweights Raynor City United will be their opponent, setting up a rematch of the second Champions' Cup final, won 2–0 in Columbia by the club now-ironically nicknamed os Bilionários over the club then known as Raynor City Rockers. The Rockers share with Yuba United the distinction of playing UICA football in all forty-one seasons, although they took a short break from the Champions’ Cup in order to enter the second Globe Cup. The two clubs have met thirteen times in the Champions’ Cup, the second most-played fixture in competition history, starting with their eyebrow-raising mutual 5–2 victories in the tournament’s first group stage.

As the sun sets on Lasft, the most successful club in Champions’ Cup history will take on the most successful club in recent history—Yuba United versus Fontvielle Impact. The Silver-Blues are, as anyone with the slightest interest in the sport knows, six-time world champions and the only club to play in the Champions’ Cup every season. They are also the only club to win two hundred Champions’ Cup matches, reaching that mark against another Valladar club, AS Bezieres, on their way to that sixth title. L’Impact set a few records of their own when they embarked on a run of thirty-one matches without defeat over three seasons. The run started in the group stage of Champions’ Cup 36, continued even as they lost the tournament in a penalty shootout to Unión de Ciudagua, encompassed the whole of their victorious Champions’ Cup 37 campaign, and finally came to an end in the first knockout round of Champions’ Cup 38 when they were beaten by none other than Yuba United—but Fontvielle Impact won the tie on aggregate. Their next visit to Alesanka Park was for the final of Champions’ Cup 40, and as they took home the trophy for the second time, they had amassed the highest club coëfficient of all time, with 156.276 points over those five seasons. Overall, Fontvielle Impact has beaten Yuba United three times out of four, winning both meetings in the group stage of Champions’ Cup 37.

Fifty shades of blue
Coïncidentally, all four clubs chosen for the UICA Golden Jubilee traditionally wear blue at home, so UICA’s choice of home team was a bit more important than it usually is during the much-mocked draws for competition finals. For the first match, it was decided that Petardos S/A, who are providing the venue for these matches, should logically be the home team, leaving Raynor City United to wear its hooped away kit. For the second match, UICA President Chris McKnight presided over a coin toss which gave Yuba United the honor of wearing their famous blue and silver, while Fontvielle Impact will line up in gray.

Fifty thousand families
The Obelisco Monumental is one of the most famous stadia in football, so visitors are expected to have no trouble finding their way to fill its thirty myriad seats. Expanded to that capacity for World Cup 36, it is the only stadium to host four World Cup finals and the only stadium to host four UICA finals (two Champions’ Cup and two Globe Cup), and also served as the centerpiece of the Games of the VI Olympiad. Of course, it hosts plenty of ordinary matches as well; the first match of the Golden Jubilee will be Petardos S/A’s 200th home game in UICA competitions. Local residents are said to be delighted amid the Cafundelense economic crisis to see top-flight football return to the country, and with no other opportunities on the horizon, tickets are expected to sell quickly.

Fifty billion eyes
With broadcast rights sold as part of the Champions’ Cup package, the star-studded double-header is set to draw a sizable audience around the globe. In an effort to keep that audience’s attention on the players, rather than the officials, UICA has enlisted the help of its top member associations to assemble the two best teams of officials money can buy. Alain Merchat, seemingly ever-present in the biggest matches in Valladar football, has been confirmed as the referee for Petardos S/A–Raynor City United, to be assisted by a pair of Paripanans. Johannes Rudkilde of Polar Islandstates will be the man in the middle for Yuba United–Fontvielle Impact. The full roster of thirteen—with one reserve assistant referee to be available for both matches—will be confirmed at a later date.

Fifty new frontiers
The revenue from those ticket sales, worldwide broadcast rights sales, and sponsorship by the five UICA Partners will be channelled into a new UICA charitable campaign called Football Everywhere, which aims to support leagues around the world which lack the infrastucture to join UICA competitions. Football Everywhere will provide both administrative assistance, sending UICA officials to offer their advice and experience to would-be member associations, and financial grants for stadium upgrades needed to meet minimum UICA criteria. “Everyone should have the right to play football, no matter where they’re born,” McKnight declared at a press conference. “We can’t help everyone in the world, but when there are leagues that just need a little help to make the step up to UICA membership, that’s where we want to step in.” Football Everywhere will be funded by a dedicated endowment, rather than through UICA’s general fund, to ensure that no money is taken away from UICA’s current or future member associations.

No one can contradict the statement that the Antoletian football league is not one of the greatest in the world. This can also be said about the unpredictability of the league. At the end of practically every season we see the same three teams basically qualify for the international qualifiers. Dragoste, IdlR, and Iarba have basically owned the league in its young 12 year history. Only two other teams Baghetafauritor FC and Iubesc FC have ever won the league. Other teams such as Junglă, Stejar Munte and Cărbune Judeţ FC have at times shown a certain flair for the win, and have come close to winning the big trophy. The point is with a continual inability to bring in foreign talent, with perhaps the only big foreigner in the league Taeshan's Ryleigh Voegael, a second string national teamer, always looking likely to make like a baby and head out, the league is not headed anywhere soon. Also alarming is the continual elevator status of Reginăi Parc Pădurar. You do not just suddenly become competitive internationally. Now and again their are flares of brilliance from some teams, but the league is not good enough. The league is not ready to be better. There needs to be a sea change. The Antoletian's as a league, and as a national team need to look at themselves and see what they can be. What they want to be. Things need to change. Hopefully they can change with a little hard work, elbow grease and some old fashioned tiger blood.

Falconwhereveryouare Primary Division -- Season 26
Review

Primary Division - Final Matchday
Wingipeg Wingers 0 - 0 Falcus FC
Marriet 2 - 1 Sheaver Seamen
Upham 1 - 0 Sheaver FC
Nestingham FC 2 - 0 Umber FC
Reedring FC 2 - 2 Wingipeg FC
Umber Lumber 6 - 2 Kalta

In one of the most exciting finishes in recent Falconian memory, a pivotal last-matchday match that pitted the top two teams had the entire country watching with baited breath. Nestingham FC, sitting two points back in second place, obviously needed the win to win their third straight title. Having to play the current leading team obviously made the match more intimidating, but also gave the assurance that success for Nestingham would also mean Umber FC would lose out on any points. If the matchdays had been arranged differently and Umber FC had drawn while Nestingham won, both would sit on 44 points and Umber FC would easily end up on top due to goal differencial (barring a 11-0 blowout in favor of Nestingham). However, as any manager will likely tell you, it's always better to outright win than win on tiebreakers--similar to penalties being the worst way to win a match.

On the other side of the spectrum, the players of Kalta breathed a collective sigh of relief when Sheaver FC lost to Upham, assuring them at least one more year in the primary division; even if the whole losing 6-2 to Umber Lumber affair was a fair bit embarassing. Winterfell and Lywik FCs comfortably cruised to the two promotion spots in the Secondary Division; Winterfell will be hoping to avoid relegation in their first foray in the Primary League while Lywik is trying to recapture the magic of their championship year almost a decade past.

Amended Nominations

The Football Federation of Babbage nominate the following clubs to international competition in the cycle of the 42nd Champions' Cup, with reference to the results of the two most recently completed seasons, both within the extant qualification period: 55a FĈB 56a FĈB:

Champions' Cup: Bloomfield National (56 champions), FK Maribor (55 champions).
Globe Cup: Sporting Boulder (2nd/5th); Belgium FC (5th/2nd), Great Falls Cymru (3rd/4th).
Series B Champions' Cup: AC Santa Catalina, South Side AC, Stapleford Thursday, Cardiff FC.
Cygnus Cup: Celtic-Southland (winners of Islands Cup 41; given preference over Cup 42 winners who are in the Champions' Cup).

FFB also bid to host the major UICA championships as follows:

Champions' Cup -- Ijak-Nash Stadium in Paris, Verne, capacity 71,717. Ijak-Nash was the site of the World Cup 60 final between The Holy Empire and FSSO. It is the home of FĈB club Parisian and one of the seven stadia in the rotation to host late rounds of the Islands Cup each year. As described by prominent netwriter Kathy Maclaren leading up to its opening:

And it's the grand opening of Ijak-Nash Stadium, the biggest arena in The Babbage Islands. It will seat over 70,000 people and will be the new home of Parisian in the FĈB. It's named, obviously, for the two national footballing legends of the World Cup 49-53 era. . . .

On the north end of the new stadium there are no seats, just a massive multi-story glass-and-steel circular building called the Great Hall of Football. (You can get seats at almost ground level in the Hall for a match. But they're really, really expensive.)

The Paris authorities wanted to lure the World Cup Hall of Fame to Paris, but negotiations broke down. Yet the Great Hall of Football tells a visual story of the world game. I was here two days ago for the soft opening of the Hall, and it's well worth the visit. (The official dedication is just before the match, stadium and museum and all.)

The main exhibit floor is defined by two concentric circles. The inner ring is an enormous circle of towering flagpoles adorned, in chronological order, with the flags of all 59 nations inducted to the World Cup Nation Hall of Fame. They don't take up the whole circle yet. There is room for more. A bit of creative ventilation stirs the flags gently in the indoor setting.

The outer ring has 295 shorter pillars. Each displays information about one of the nations that has appeared in the World Cup tournament. They're in order by Cup, then alphabetically for each Cup's debuting nations. Two exceptions to this order are Crosshill on the first pillar as the champions of World Cup 1 and The Babbage Islands as the first pillar in sequence among the World Cup 49 class. Like the flagpoles, there should be enough room to add nations up to World Cup 70 or so.

There's a nice asymmetry to the placements too. The first flag in the inner ring is in the east winding counterclockwise; the first pillar in the outer ring is in the west winding clockwise.

Series B Champions' Cup -- The U.F.O. (Universal Football Oval) in Cardston, Gibson, capacity after recent addition 40,004. The retractable-roof U.F.O. is home to Cardston FC and the Babbage code club Cardston Space Cadets. Like Ijak-Nash, The U.F.O. is in the Islands Cup host rotation.
NS World Cup: Runner-up 55/59; Third place 50/52/58/62/63; Host 49/54/60.
Founding member, Global Cricket Federation; 2x Twenty20 world champions.

Season 20,044

Well, the season was pretty much lacking in dramatics when it came to the league. RCU brought in the young Fussito Rodah from Starblaydia and was instantly slotted into the starting holding midfielder role. In a way that has seldom been seen, Rodah fit right into the role and lead the Rockers to being tied for the best defense in the league and an absolutely dominating run to the league title. Another Starblaydi, Pablo Del Astra, came to FC Capri, but was unable to shore up a very leaky backline for the Islanders. However the squad did stay afloat in the midtable, finishing a respectable ninth despite the defensive woes. The controversy of the year came when the VFA decided to award Hondo FC the second Champions Cup spot for winning the Silver Cup, leaving Valanari frustrated to being relegated to the Globe Cup. Things seemed to go back to normal in Vyinta, with Ibini ending league play on a ten match unbeaten streak to win the title back after missing out last year. Soldarian was unable to stop their recovery as they were felled in a tense GC playoff, but Hondo kept them from proceeding any further in the TQCC playoff.
