You're saying that if the candidates on the ballots were Jeffrey Dahmer and Joe Blow, the people in your district would vote for Dahmer because they'd heard of him? I mean, if one of the candidates was Michelle Bachmann, I would vote for the other candidate automatically without needing to hear a single commercial from him/her. I find it frightening that there are large numbers of people, anywhere in my country, who would even remotely consider voting such a vile and deranged person to any kind of responsible office.

Well, you have to realize that any DFL candidate in her district is fighting against a secure Republican area, which has now expanded to encompass even MORE Republican territory. It's surprising anyone's come as close as they have, and the only reasonable assumption is that her policies/personality have contributed to her near-failures, and since these have accentuated, this combined with a well-funded opposition campaign COULD lead to her being booted out, especially with more territory that, while Republican, may not be the brand of Republican that enjoys her routine.
In addition, many Republicans here are demoralized or are simply out of touch with the current GOP foundation, especially after they purged our state Republican party a few years back to get rid of our moderates, which made a lot of people mad.
