I liked that one scene in the first episode where he was talking to Rose about how they were just standing on a tiny rock spinning through space at a thousand miles per hour. And that one in "Boom Town" where what's her name was trying to kill him and he just casually thwarted her every attempt.

The Slitheen woman.

For that one episode the silly smile dropped and we saw the hate inside him.

Eccleston was a casual bad-ass who typically just didn't care.

A bit different from the normal Doctor. Not bad, but not my preferred form.

Really, the only Doctor I've ever disliked was Davison, but I've not yet seen a Sixth episode.

For the record, it could be argued they won in Victory of the Daleks. Sure, they didn't destroy Earth or kill the Doctor, but they returned themselves to purity. And really the only reason the Doctor's beaten them in the new series (except maybe for that one in the beginning of The Wedding of River Song) is because he was lucky.
