Whoops, it appears that this was missed for a while. There is a fixed number of positions on GenSec, which is currently at five, and a new member of GenSec is appointed whenever a previous member resigns or is removed, the latter usually for inactivity. Once that happens, there is a thread for nominations, an example of which can be found here, where players nominate other players that are thought to be good candidates for the role. GenSec then selects the person that is judged to be the most qualified candidate. Moderators perform a background check, but are not otherwise involved.

Is it allowed to post the proposal (that was newly submitted, not yet been approved by WA delegates, not reached in quorum) in the forum? If yes, then which forum will I advertise the proposal or do I have to make own?

The GA forum would not exist if Max intended for people to submit their proposals without drafting them. The proposal submission page even forwards you to these forums for drafting.

You should be posting your proposals in the forum before you submit them. It looks like this is the second time you've submitted "Recognition Of Footwear Fashion," however, and it doesn't look likely to gain the 64 approvals needed (out of 65 needed for quorum!) over the next 25 hours. In this case, I'd recommend posting it on the forum anyway and marking it as a draft.

Proposals you draft in the forum should go in a new thread, rather than as a reply to the Q&A thread.

And when does it comes to the effect in the main WA website. I mean, who writes these drafted proposals to the main WA, if it is written by the original author (if it is accepted). Also, how it is accepted?

The World Assembly functions differently to Issues. Your proposal is automatically "accepted" as soon as it is submitted.

You are very strongly encouraged to create threads for proposals you have written and intend to draft.

2 minutes ago: The General Assembly quorate proposal "Repeal "Ban on Forced Blood Sports"" [The Stranded in North Northants of Tinhampton] expired after being ruled illegal by GenSec.

For posterity (and since this was discussed a few years ago): it does look like the queue-but-illegal timer expires after one week of an unchanged illegal ruling.

Apologies if it was already answered or not the right place to ask - is there a place that specifies which nation statistics were affected by a WA resolution?
Also, in general, which statistics are most often affected by resolutions? Is there a way of knowing that before a resolution passes?
Thanks.

There's an unofficial thread (I don't know whether it's accurate or anything) but officially the statistical changes are secret.

As the project is very new, a lot of the categories are not yet represented. More categories will be progressively covered as new resolutions are passed in said categories.

Hello, comrades. It seems I've acquired (again) a fixation that landed squarely upon the General Assembly and its resolutions. I don't know if this question falls within the purview of a Q&A thread, but here goes:

Has anyone attempted to collect every WA piece of legislation in a combining document that concisely explains the interplay they have with each other? Perhaps a document separated by category detailing what does and does not fly under WA legislation, and what it has currently pledge itself and its member nations to do in those categories. There are 466 maybe 269 active pieces of legislation and while, of course, they do tend to cite relevant preceding legislation, that does not mean they fully explore their connection with each other, or that they are concisely edited in such a manner as to have their connection with other approved proposals neatly explained.

For instance, the herculean amount of commissions created by WA legislation, and their function according to current resolutions. Case in point, the World Assembly Language Society created in GAR#426 and its relationship with non-audial languages as defined by GAR#493. Non-audial languages are, often, minorities in their countries, and may be subject to just as much discrimination and "setting-aside" as minority audial languages. It is likely, then, that the WALS would be interested in dabbling on protecting non-audial language, despite never being cited by GAR#493.

This is just a passing thought I had whilst idly reading GARs. I'm not an avid followed of the WA and the GA (yet), so I don't have any experience at all. I just thought that this thread would be a nice place to begin my quest for information.

WA Resolutions / Repealings

Postby Varkenia » Tue Aug 15, 2023 11:09 am

{FIRST POST, SORRY IF IT ISNT RELEVANT TO ANYTHING}

Do you feel like you pass a resolution, then it just gets repealed again? I feel like alot of people have thought of this, and so do I.
I don't have much experience within the WA, I've just heard that this normally happens alot.

Any non-repeal can be repealed, and as it stands a lot of resolutions ought to be repealed. Generally speaking, though, the quality resolutions have stood the test of time. 207 resolutions have been repealed and 268 still stand. In many cases, those active resolutions are replacements or improvements on repealed resolutions, only possible because the old law was removed. It's ultimately just part of the process.

And... not that anyone uses yahoo mail anymore, but for completeness' sake it should be mentioned that yahoo hates WA emails. It doesn't even sequester them in the spam folder with the rest of the riff-raff, it just plain pretends they don't exist. So use a better email service. :)
