[DRAFT] Repeal: Debtor Voting Rights

Postby Nintendo Switch Parental Controls » Wed Jan 16, 2019 7:37 am

General Assembly Resolution #454 “Debtor Voting Rights” (Category: Furtherment of Democracy; Strength: Mild) shall be struck out and rendered null and void.

UNDERSTANDING the good intentions the author of "Debtor Voting Rights" had,

NOTING the obvious lack of effort put into the resolution,

REGRETTING that this resolution ever passed,

REALIZING that this resolution simply cannot apply to all WA member nations anyway, as in some member nations voting does not exist,

HEREBY repeals "Debtor Voting Rights"

Let's just say that I want the resolution to pass, simply to humiliate the author of the resolution with this repeal.

OOC
Repeals have to address the actual content (such as it is) of the resolutions that they target.[/one-sixth of GenSec]
The Confrederated Clans (and other Confrederated Bodys) of the Free Bears of Bears Armed
(includes The Ursine NorthLands) Demonym = Bear[s]; adjective = ‘Urrsish’.
Population = just under 20 million. Economy = only Thriving. Average Life expectancy = c.60 years. If the nation is classified as 'Anarchy' there still is a [strictly limited] national government... and those aren't "biker gangs", they're traditional cross-Clan 'Warrior Societies', generally respected rather than feared.
Author of some GA Resolutions, via Bears Armed Mission; subject of an SC resolution.

[DRAFT 2] Repeal: Debtor Voting Rights

Postby Nintendo Switch Parental Controls » Wed Jan 16, 2019 8:00 am

Draft #2 (v2):

General Assembly Resolution #454 “Debtor Voting Rights” (Category: Furtherment of Democracy; Strength: Mild) shall be struck out and rendered null and void.

UNDERSTANDING the good intentions the author of "Debtor Voting Rights" had,

NOTING the obvious lack of effort put into the resolution,

FURTHER NOTING that the resolution does not state how it will enforce itself,

REGRETTING that this resolution ever passed,

REALIZING that this resolution simply cannot apply to all WA member nations anyway, as in some member nations voting does not exist,

NOTING that in some nations having unpaid debts is a crime, and as only law abiding citizens should be able to vote, they should not be able to vote,

UNDERSTANDING that nations should be able to decide for themselves whether debtors should be able to vote,

HEREBY repeals "Debtor Voting Rights"

OOC: Enforcement provisions are not required in a resolution (check some of them out in the "Extant Resolutions" link in my forum signature below). "Lack of effort" is meaningless and not grounds for repeal. The rest of your arguments are national sovereignty based ("NatSov-only").

Still illegal as far as I'm concerned.

(OOC: Please put your current draft in the first post, so that other players won’t have to search through the thread to find it. What you need to make this legal are some clauses that address flaws in the resolution beyond simple ‘freedom’ of governments to do as they please, also called national sovereignty or NatSov. However, legal does not equal good, so I recommend waiting for a substantial period of time beyond the point at which this becomes legal to improve its content.)
Hello! I’m a GAer and NS Roleplayer from the United Kingdom.
My pronouns are he/him.
Any posts that I make as GenSec will be clearly marked as such and OOC. Conversely, my IC ambassador in the General Assembly is Ambassador Fortier. I’m always happy to discuss ideas about proposals, particularly if grammar or wording are in issue. I am also Executive Deputy Minister for the WA Ministry of TNP.
Kenmoria is an illiberal yet democratic nation pursuing the goals of communism in a semi-effective fashion. It has a very broad diplomatic presence despite being economically developing, mainly to seek help in recovering from the effect of a recent civil war. Read the factbook here for more information; perhaps, I will eventually finish it.
