DRAFT: Repeal “Quality In Health Services”

Postby Pro Life-2017 » Mon Nov 27, 2017 6:28 pm

What do you guys think of the draft repeal resolution below?:

General Assembly Resolution #97 also know as Quality In Health Services is hereby repealed for the reasons listed below:

1. This resolution significantly infringes on a nations right to control it’s own healthcare,

2. This resolution gives government too much power, to control healthcare,

3. This resolution erodes the principle of self-reliance and work,

3. This resolution encourages laziness and development of the welfare state,

4. This resolution is too expensive and burdensome on the nation subject to it,

5. Allows for tax payer-funded abortion

Hence, for the reasons listed above, General Assembly Resolution #97 is hereby repealed

National News Radio: A large-scale infrastructure project will soon be underway. During this time, for safety reasons, the island will be closed to tourists and foreign news agents. We do expect a minor loss in revenue due to this, but this will be greatly offset by both the long and short-term benefits of the infrastructure project. If your job is negatively impacted by the island closure, please send a letter or verbal message via courier to the Council so that we can add you to the list of beneficiaries of foreign aid.

I disagree.
This resolution gives government too much power, to control healthcare,

But you just said it gave the government too little power.
This resolution erodes the principle of self-reliance and work,

This resolution encouragers laziness and development of the welfare state,

Because, as we all know, dying from easily preventable diseases encourages work ethic!
This resolution is too expensive and burdensome on the nation subject to it,

Its expenses are a small price to pay for the health and well being of the public.
Hence, for the reasons listed above, General Assembly Resolution #97 is hereby repealed

How does a healthy population increase reliance on welfare?

How is it expensive and burdensome?

Nah, we're opposed.

"This 'guy' thinks the proposal contains no actual reasons, is probably the most repetitive thing ever drafted in the forums, and is attempting to repeal a good resolution."
Hello! I’m a GAer and NS Roleplayer from the United Kingdom.
My pronouns are he/him.
Any posts that I make as GenSec will be clearly marked as such and OOC. Conversely, my IC ambassador in the General Assembly is Ambassador Fortier. I’m always happy to discuss ideas about proposals, particularly if grammar or wording are in issue. I am also Executive Deputy Minister for the WA Ministry of TNP.
Kenmoria is an illiberal yet democratic nation pursuing the goals of communism in a semi-effective fashion. It has a very broad diplomatic presence despite being economically developing, mainly to seek help in recovering from the effect of a recent civil war. Read the factbook here for more information; perhaps, I will eventually finish it.

I will be amending this proposed repeal resolution soon, hopefully in the next few days, with everyone's feedback in mind.

Joseph Rattlesmith XXXV, WA delegate of the Nau States, stands and clears his throat for a second. He then speaks,"Alright. Let's talk about this. First, it seems that this proposal is based entirely upon opinion. Furthermore, this isn't even the right format for a resolution, I don't think. If you're expecting this to even pass, you're sorely mistaken." He stands for a few seconds, then adds, "Pardon my manners. My vote: Strongly Opposed." Rattlesmith sits back down.

OOC: I sense an ulterior motive here. The reasons you have listed are just window dressing. I think that the real reason that you want this repealed is because it stands in the way of your desire to ban a certain healthcare-related thing...

Repealing Quality In Health Services wouldn't make it possible to ban abortion though.

OOC: Nope, but it has been cited as an additional contradiction to attempted anti-abortion proposals in the past. I get the distinct impression that the OP is just trying to knock down as many of those hurdles as possible, to clear the way for their own anti-abortion proposal.
