The Bloody Stupid argument

Again, calling everything "Bloody Stupid" because you don't understand the rules does not help anybody. If you are unsure which category the violation falls under, consult the rules. Familiarize yourself with them. They're pretty straight-forward, and relatively easy to grasp.

"Bloody Stupid" is just a term mods use when they don't have any other word to describe the offense. ;)

Just stop, will you? I know the rules, I am quite familiar with them. I also happen to like that phrase and will continue to use it as, to the best of my knowledge, it is not something reserved to any particular group. It is a nice non-specific phrase which sums things up nicely for stupid proposals. I understand you enjoy objecting to my use of it, but that will not stop me from using it to describe, well, bloody stupid proposals.

do we have an understanding?

Per the rules:
Bloody Stupid

Every now and then a Proposal crops up that, for lack of a more tactful description, is stupid. This is clearly a judgment call, but if you're going to mandate that all cars be pink, you're gonna have a dead proposal on your hands. This includes things that are unworthy of WA consideration (such as mandating allowances for children who eat their vegetables).
If you see I've made a mistake in my wording or a factual detail, telegram me and I'll fix it. I'll even give you credit for pointing it out, if you'd like.

Not all mods are au fait with the Proposal Rules, and players' informed advice sometimes helps us make illegalities clearer to would-be proposal writers. "Bloody stupid", in its technical sense, is for proposals when that's the overwhelming reason they're illegal.

oh good lord. :palm: you know, if it is going to cause this much of a s***storm and controversy, I will never ever use those words in conjunction with each other ever again. I swear, sometimes it seems that some folk here argue for the sake of argueing.

I think we know two words that describe such behaviour, beginning with "B" and "S" respectively, and both being 6 letters long.

Ahhh, the GA -- this whole discussion is what some of us find deeply charming, and some of us find teeth-gratingly nitpicky, about the GA.

For those not in the know, it comes from the Silly and Illegals thread, and it's a (relatively) serious discussion of one of the proposal violations -- the mistakes that can result in a proposal being killed before it gets to vote.

It touches on all sorts of things about the GA: why we even have the S&I thread, what players can learn from it, what players can unlearn from it ...

Myself, I favour saving "Bloody Stupid" as a term for use in extreme circumstances, when a proposal is so mindbendingly loopy there's no other way to describe it. (But then, I don't use "fuck" all that much, either.)

And I utterly deny that the only reason I saved these posts was so that I could tag a thread with that particular title.

Locking it now so it can sink to the bottom of the sludge pile and be remembered only by those who cherish these little vignettes of life in the GA.
