For the first time in nation's history, the nation will be happy to welcome the international baseball's finest. 42 nations will be making their travel to Quebec and Shingoryeo, in what would be next month and half for a quest to hoist the championship. The Quebecois Baseball and Softball Federation (QBSF), with assist from the Royal Quebecois Olympic Committee and the Imperial Sporting Council, will serve as the organising body for the event.

Format:

The group stage will be played in seven groups of six, with each group consisted of a geographical cluster. Within said geographical cluster, each participating nation and their team will be assigned a home field which will be their home over the course of group stage, and the second round (round of sixteen) of the playoffs. There will be ten cutoffs and twenty-matchdays to be played over the course of quadruple round robin group stage.

Afterwards, the top two teams, as well as two best-placing third-place sides, will qualify for sixteen-team playoffs. Tiebreakers for group and playoff seeding will be in following order:

RP Permissions - What Do Those Mean?

Written by Cassadaigua for the World Baseball Classic 57, with a minor addition.

Choose my run-scorers: Can the opponent decide who scored for your team. Note that this includes ONLY how you’re individual players may have played, on an individual level. If you’re opponent says their starting pitcher struck out 15 of your hitters in their 1-0 win, then that is fine regardless of your answer, because it is a direct individual fact about the performances of their pitcher. If you answered no here, and they then said a particular batter struck out four times, then and only then do they violate this permission. Moral of the story, saying no here gives you control over how your players play, only. Not how the opponent’s players play. Most users answer yes to this.

Choose my lineup: Allows the opponent to determine any old lineup for your team. Most teams will include a lineup, and set this permission as no, and to follow their lineup. However, if you don’t really care, feel free to say yes.

Follow my Pitching Rotation: Same general idea as Choose my lineup, but with the rotation. Tip: Always check your opponent’s RP for their prior game to see if they declared a starting pitcher for your game, as well.

Godmod Scoring Events: This allows your opponent to be very specific, in complete detail, about your runs scored.

RP Injuries to your players: Answer accordingly. Some nations will include a caveat here that they are allowed, but only to say a play was hurt and nothing else, so that they can be the one to determine what happened.

Godmod Injuries: Taking the above to the next level. Can they do whatever they want in regards to injuries. Answer accordingly.

DH Used at home: Whether or not we use the DH is determined by the home team. (Much like it is in Major League Baseball, or Nippon Pro Baseball). Here you are saying whether or not the DH is used when you are home.

Minor note by Quebec and Shingoryeo: The QBSF, in following the precedence established back in the WBC-54, would like to note that in games where neither side has expressed specific stance re: DH, both the designated hitter and the Ohtani Rule will be in play.

Eject My Players: Can they eject your players? Some nations will include a caveat here as well that “for every one you eject your team, you can eject one/two/or more on mine.”

Godmod Other Events: We get silly on NS Sports. You have to have fun once in a while, after all. What this is asking if is the opponent can RP something completely crazy and unrealistic about the game, such as “the catcher put a spell on the basestealer as they were running, to make them fall.” or, “The pitched ball became invisible, so the batter had no hope.”, or even “Space aliens invaded, and decided they liked our flag better, so they helped our team with their significantly advanced technology”. If this kind of fun is for you, then put yes. If not, then put no. If you’re open to it, but don’t want to be completely caught off-guard, a message to say “telegram me your idea first” is common.

Other Info: Is there other information about your team you want us to know about? This is usually about a team’s playing style. A nation with an aggressive playing style may say they always look to take the extra base, and want to steal a lot of bases. A nation that wants to have their team to be explosive may want to say they score most runs via the long ball. Or, it could be to say something about your pitchers, like to never have a starter go more then 5 innings.

Quebec and Shingoryeo Venues Information

Home to Hwado Bears, the AAA-level affiliate of Joongyeong Bears. Located in Hwado Valley, hilly eastern satellite city about 30 to 45 minutes commuter train ride away from heart of Joongyeong, with mix of young families and rural populace working in either local factories or small farms. Sponsored by Quebeco-Kytleran restaurant conglomerate GreGG's Restaurants, 'The GreGG's Kitchen' is a pitcher's paradise with a long field, though the low walls would allow for occasional home runs that would otherwise be bounced off the wall on other stadiums.

Joongyeong

Joongyeong is the capital of Quebec and Shingoryeo. It is the seat of the Parliament and the Head of State, who are hosted by the Jeongdeokgoong and Daemyeonggoong Palaces respectively, and is part of an autonomous Federal Province alongside its big two rival in Songak. Located by the Fleuve-Saint-Henri on the nation’s capital, Joongyeong lacks the economic powers of a more prosperous Songak, but as the second-largest city and cultural capital (in a traditional sense), the 'City of Eternal Lights' holds the allure that comes from its classical architecture, haute and traditional cuisine, hundreds of museums and monuments forming the city. The city's history and culture, while strong and embedded into the nation's fabric to point of allure, also brings forth a sense of entitlement.

Parc de Joongyeong (cap. 44,000) -- Universite St. Croix (QIS), national high school championships

Most historic baseball stadium in the nation that has seen constant upgrades and renovations. Home to two of the five national high school championships and the QIS College Series every year, a great variety of baseball competitions, from peewee competitions to charity matches, take place here on a year-round basis. High outfield walls to the left and right, mostly retains the old, early-1900s appearance aided by copper facade.

Carlingford Citrus Field (cap. 18,000) -- Universite St. Croix (QIS)

Universite St. Croix is the oldest university in the nation, a Lotus League school that is also separately considered to be the 'top two' alongside Farrer. Reputed internationally for its renowned programs in humanities and social sciences, as well as the power its alumni holds at home and abroad, it is also known for the self-governance model held by its 26 constituent colleges, where most of the student life and some academics are provided. The university's athletics program, while under the joint Bleu et Blanc banner, is usually divided between more specialised programs operated jointly with IRSEA (national centre of excellence for most sports) at Villa Calania, and those that operate directly under the university. It is a complicated process, with those enrolled under IRSEA having relatively limited options as St. Croix students (e.g. lack of commerce or kinesiology program, though economics is a fairly popular major here for former).

St. Croix's baseball program, while usually not a dominant power, is an above-major program that has had its glory years and a share of winning QIS College Series' titles. From time to time they would produce national team alumni, though the most famous alumni active right now is not in the sport - most-prominent Korean-language writer of his time, Sir. Asher Lundrigan, was at one point an all-Quebecois catcher twenty years back. The team plays at a clean, circular field on campus named Carlingford Citrus Field. Built with donations by the Carlingford family of citrus production fame, who have attended the university for five generations, the stadium is slightly oversized relative to the Bleu et Blanc teams' draw (attendance averages around 8,000), but sees great use value for local schools and minor league teams anyway. It is a huge ballpark, and proximity to the Quartier-Calanien, where all the pubs, restos, small theatres and antique shops are at, is a bonus.

Levis
Pier 12 (cap. 31,000) -- Levis Wyverns (QBO)

An industrial city of 750,000 known for its heavy industry presence, most notably so in its famed port, rows of factories and laboratories associated with companies both domestic and international. It is located directly south of Joongyeong by Fleuve-Saint-Henri, and is connected to the glitzier, more renowned Joongyeong by a half-dozen bridges and many tunnels, but is otherwise a separate city with its own working class identity.

The city's substantial population and separate identity tends to mean that Levis is well-represented across most if not all major sports in Quebec, and this includes baseball, where the Wyverns, a consistent power within the QBO, are home at the Pier 12. Located in the repurposed section of the city's old Port, the Pier 12 is a compact, state of art dome with a retractable roof. A batter-friendly place with steep upper decks and gently-sloped lower deck, it provides a particularly intimate environment for a more recently-built ballpark. It is also attached to the National Baseball Hall of Fame, which has moved from its former site in Joongyeong to the city where the baseball sport itself has first arrived in the 1880s.

Parc Universitaire de Baseball (cap. 5,500) -- Universite de Levis (QIS)

Built on the campus of Universite de Levis, a large-sized university with focus on commuter student population and minuscule university campus located on the southwestern part of the city. A tight ballpark with short dimensions, the PUB isn't as nice or spacious as the Pier-12 and seats my creak now and then, but it does have the convenience of being near the local pubs and restaurants with cheap food and above average bands performing in nighttime.

Isle-Manisan
Stade-Charles-J.-Williams (cap. 8,500) -- Isle-Manisan Cosmonauts (Q-AAA)

A decently-sized island of 80,000 residents linked to Levis's northern suburbs by a fairly long bridge, the Isle-Manisan was once the home to the busiest immigration processing station in the country. Those days have long gone past, however, with the National Immigration Museum in the place of the once-active fort and multiple piers in front of it, and it is mostly a quiet island with small farms and houses attached to them. Housing the Cosmonauts, the AAA affiliate to the Levis Wyverns of the QBO, the Stade Charles J. Williams is a small but comfortable baseball field intended for minor league crowd. Compact stadium with great sightlines, it is surrounded by many hills on all four sides of the pitch and can feel a bit enclosed as a result.

The northernmost city to host a participant team this World Baseball Classic, Banbh is traditionally known as the northern, foothill entrance to scenic Monts Charmants, and the port city where the oil from the inlands get transported into the tankers. It is a city that carries the traditions of 'northern cowboys', who have married into the indigenous peoples and have long formed a majority of the city's population, and the urbanisation of the city best defined through the compact, city centre. The city's usually at its best in the summer, when the internationally-renowned Northern Stampede brings the city into two months of festivities, but stays busy on year-round basis with a diversifying economy and population.

48th Street Grounds is a prime example of this. A 1920s ground that would become derelict over time, the city-owned grounds would see refurbishment of the downtown ballpark into to revive its ivy outfield and outdoor wall, while allowing for the university to build and test out latest technological features inside the arena. As with many northern venues, hybrid grass is used to counter the terrible weather.

Chicoutimi

Chicoutimi is a weird city. It is the seventh-largest city in the nation with population of about 1.85 million people, but most of the population is spread out into satellite neighbourhoods. It is similar to its southern comparable in Kingston in that, while mostly accessible by subway and commuter rail, the downtown core is way smaller than in other places, the city's fort walls used as a boundary. It is also the city that has various parts of its history of industries somewhat separated, with the western suburbs home to old houses by the elite who have been around far before the city itself, the downtown home to a growing arts scene, and agriculture and oil and gas businesses' headquarters, and the southwest having large electronic and related research complexes. It is a centre in what's mostly a rural region, though, so there will always be lots of activities to do there.

As for the sports, it is represented in most sports leagues with strong fan interest. Gridiron football and baseball are the kings in this city, however, and this includes Saguenay Lions. One of flagship franchises in the league that have won the second most number of Quebec Series titles behind their archrivals Kingston Tigers, they are based in the third edition of Champ aux Pleiades. There they have won their last five Quebec Series titles, including three with their all-time power hitter, Theo-Alexandre Pinson, whose #10 was just retired last year as the seventh number on the left outfield. In terms of ballpark it is functionally an outstanding park with charming red bricks omnipresent, many standing room areas, and extensive event and ride offerings at the concourse. Its location is an iffy one located close to the northern end of the city, but the experience itself is a good one on its own unless you get booed and thrown snowballs at by your fans.

Myeongju

A coastal city of 450,000 people famous for its beachside resorts facing the East Sea. It is located at the eastern edge of what is traditionally considered to be the eastern end of Quebec and Shingoryeo in traditional sense, with expansion into the nation's northeast not happening until the 1800s. Part of the reason behind this is the presence of mountains that serves as the background to the city, and most outsiders around this time of the year are usually here for either the famous resort towns of Bongpyeong and Saint-Amant, to visit the nearby island including the Welsh-speaking Notiskuan, or to attend one of two universities here.

Regardless the city is well-represented across the Quebecois sports, with the Quadracentennials of QHL, Club Racing of Quebecois Championship football (2nd tier) and Lynx of the QWBL being the biggest names there, while field hockey has one of its three national centres here. Myeongju Lions in comparison are a relative small-dog here, especially with relatively less established status of baseball here compared to other sports, but the Sunrise Field more than makes up for it with a modern ballpark that is up to the international hosting standard. Wide blue stands on the infield with wide, narrow seatings contrast with mostly open outfield usually reserved for groups to seat.

Located right next to the Songwha Lake, the largest freshwater lake north of five Golden Lakes in the nation's south, Songwha City is generally known for its flat land, moderately-high altitude of 1,200m. Cold, freezing and windy on year-round basis, it is usually associated as the industrial town not so far away from the oilfields to the south and the west. That aside, the city is still considered positively so with lots of summertime festivals, the largest mall in the nation in Songwha Lakeview, and high profile of Songwha State University.

Jubilee Peak is the home to the Songwha State's baseball team. Interestingly enough has a retractable dome for a small-sized, collegiate venue, which was made possible thanks to alumni donations, and is directly attached to the university's six-storey athletic complex. Used by both the university and the local public school board due to limited number of baseball/softball fields available in the city.

South Bend
Pierre J. Belmondo Field (cap. 8,000) -- Universite du Saguenay (QIS)

Located an hour west of Chicoutimi on a particularly mountaineous area, South Bend is mostly remembered for being the seat of Saguenay provincial government, most of the city consisted of extremely old, traditional houses with tiled roofs, and the Universite du Saguenay. The last part may be particularly familiar with international sports fans, especially with the reputation the Fighting Irish holds in gridiron football, basketball and volleyball, and it is complemented by the popularity of QWBL franchise, South Bend Sakers, in town.

Belmondo field, for most part, is a very good collegiate venue. A neoclassical appearance with blue seats and mostly open surface. A small roof exists for a small section right behind the batting plate and right above the broadcasting booth. Mostly open outfield intended for free student seating, with the exception of a massive centre-field electronic board. The university campus, for most part, is peaceful and old-looking, but does have decent food options nearby and is easily accessible by commuter rail.

Yeongpoong

Based in a rural city of 120,000 in Yeongpoong, a railway town that serves as the regional centre for mostly mountainous, agriculture-driven southwestern Saguenay. Built on the north side of the town just halfway between railway station, the symbol of the city's railway industry linking no less than six lines, and the city farmer's market. Home to Yeongpoong Yeomen, the AAA affiliate of the Montevicio Dodgers, with the call-ups usually taking place when the Dodgers are out east. A pitcher-friendly park with generous dimensions, green seats and open outfield with no seats. A river runs right behind it, so solid chance exists for a home run ball to fall into the water.

Songak

Songak is the largest city and economic capital of Quebec and Shingoryeo. Songak is the most populous city in Quebec and Shingoryeo with around 8.5 million people. Located in the middle of major shipping routes, and at the intersection of many expressways and railway lines that transverse across Quebec and Shingoryeo and its neighbours, the city has been long viewed as the strategic and geographical centre of northern Calania. In the days of Shingoryeoite Empire it was at the centre of the industrialisation and the expansion of the Shingoryeoite Empire, and after great periods of struggle in the second-half of 20th century, it has reoriented itself into a metropolis of its own.

As one of two true metropolises, Songak is an international centre of commerce and finance, culture, entertainment transport, science and tourism. Considered to be the financial capital of Quebec and the Quebecois Commonwealth, as well as an established location for diasporas and investors of Anglophone world, Songak is often known as the Capital of northern Calania, with strong financial and media sectors, a musical theatre scene and contemporary arts being its noticeable features.

Commonwealth Park (cap. 60,000) -- Montreal Twins (QBO)

Built fifty years ago in the ‘stadium-boom era of 1990s and 2000s’, the Commonwealth Park is the largest stadium in Quebec and Shingoryeo since its opening in 2006. A modern, pitcher-friendly park with steep stands, brick walls that blend well into the surrounding Commonwealth Park and working-class neighbourhoods surrounding the Park in eastern Songak. Home to both the Montreal Twins (QBO), one of the powerhouses in the QBO, and two of the national high school championships, but it has over the past decade also hosted the national team for home-and-away group stages of the WBCs. Lacks scran options in-stadium, but street stalls just outside and eateries on nearby streets more than make up for them.

Sanipass Park (cap. 35,000) -- Songak Expos (QBO)

Built close to the end of a very long relocation saga for Songak Expos that never materialised, what did end up materialised was a much smaller, but ultimately more impressive ballpark for the Expos about twenty years ago. Located just south of the city's famous West End best known for its theatres and recording studios, it is both a pitcher- (huge outfields, though not to the levels of Commonwealth Park) and fan-friendly park where fans are able to enjoy their time in one of two food courts consisting of local eateries' matchday stalls and three bars without losing their sight of the beautiful Songakian skyline and the Queen Arlene Bridge. And while the Expos have only won one Quebec Series title here, and may have struggled a bit as of late, the Sanipass Park's allures last strongly and into this day.

Casey Sertbas Field (cap. 9,500) -- Farrer University (QIS)

A compact on-campus field with mostly unceremonious, metallic facade and predominantly red-and-white seats surrounded by metallic roof on the infield to protect from heavy snowfall. Outfield is draped with rows of open-air seats, with background of les trois collines (five hills) that separate Farrer and its rival university, Songak Metropolitan. An institution primarily with English and Korean-language instruction, Farrer University is one of the most prestigious universities in Quebec with its strengths in natural sciences and humanities, comprehensive athletic programs and renowned alumni.

Wansan

About an hour east of Songak, Wansan is among older cities of the nation. Located in middle of one of the breadbaskets of the country, with wheatfields and rice paddies not far away from the city proper, it is known for a core of tiled roof buildings and stretches of old fort across the town, as well as a couple of automobile factories on the east end of town. It, otherwise, is a bit worn-out looking from misgovernance. In terms of sports Wansan is well represented across most sports, though most would remember them in particular for midtable Q-League Noksaekjeonsa, and is not considered a big baseball market.

What Wansan does have, however, is a historic ballpark. Located just outside the downtown, but right next to a railway station (not Wansan central where high-speed rail and most services go, but the one before and still serviceable). An old, city-owned stadium with blue facade, colourful stands and long lines for anything, not to mention rust at parts that had to be fixed ahead of hosting the WBC. In any case it does retain a lot of old-world charm that, while not exactly helpful in landing an expansion franchise (and has been part of the QBO Raiders' relocation years back), have made it an easy choice when hosting international tournaments like the WBC.

Arrosianopolis

Arrosianopolis is a city located halfway between Songak and Joongyeong, with about an hour train or bus ride between two cities. Considered to be the sister city to the Villa-Calania located on the opposite side of Fleuve-Saint-Henri, it is a satellite city of two metropolises with surrounding areas consisting mostly of farms. Recent governmental initiatives, however, have started to put more colour into the 'mid-lands' with multiple housing projects, commercial complexes and the massive, four-storey Quebecois Sporting Hall of Fame moving into the city.

Just 500m away from it stands the Field of Lifetimes. About 85 years ago the Paranormal Pictures had built a baseball stadium to reenact a dreampop-filled, ghost-bringing original motion film ‘Field of a Lifetime’ and after mostly seeing use as community stadium, the QBO Office and the QBSF would make a bold decision to rebuild the venue at a slightly larger scale for the IBS-18 after costly purchase. Surrounded by cornfields, a few apartment buildings on the horizon, and the Hall of Fame just down the road, it is a hitter-friendly park that is known to be tricky due to lots of crosswind and a very low outfield wall that is made out of, you know it, corn. Since the field's hosting of IBS-18 the stadium has seen further additions as the home to AAA side Arrosianopolis Rangers' needs with addition of living quarters, parking slots, and a local farmer's market every matchday.

Bonneville

A medium-sized city of 400,000 known for its scenic mountain views, clean and compact downtown and underrated cultural and arts scene. Located halfway on the railway line between Prince Eric and Fort Lowe, and also between former and Jolbonopolis, the city has been growing steadily over the last fifty years with the city's growing reputation as an outdoor lovers' paradise, and continued migration of people from Montevicio and Prince Eric.

For most part it still retains its country facade, with the Bonneville State University, a local major junior hockey team, and the Bonneville Athletics, AAA-level affiliate to Prince Eric, being the major draw. Meridian Field is a 100-year old ballpark with a canopy roof over the infield, and a park-esque outfield seating. Average dimensions and employs hybrid grass, mostly to allow for play in low temperatures and high snowfall in the winter.

Bongohdong

Located about 45 minutes to an hour south of much larger Prince Eric, this suburban city of 200,000 is mostly known for hosting the large-sized RQAF/JRCC Bongohdong. Its status as the westernmost air force base, as well as growing population for families wanting to move out of Prince Eric for cost-related reasons, has helped the city's growth. Otherwise it is a relatively unremarkable city, with mountains on background (as is with most cities out northwest), and there being a port that is still used by the fishermen.

The Sunset Pier is a small-sized stadium that is unremarkable on its own, though the outfield does point towards a decent view of the air force base. Circular from above, left and right outfield is a bit narrow, while the old scoreboard and sewage system are a bit of bummer that should have been addressed before the competition's opening. One positive with the venue is that you could watch the fighters take off and land if the timing's right, and sometimes you see some photographers in motion for that.

Jolbonopolis
Salamantel Park (cap. 32,000) -- Jolbonopolis Rangers (QBO)

Inland capital of Yoseo-Manitoba province, Jolbonopolis is a dynamic city of 2.5 million people home to multiple sides. It also boasts manufacturing industry best displayed by the presence of Bruenig, considered the home of the Quebeco-Shingoryeoite country music, and has an ethnically diverse population with its strong street culture. In the recent years the city has gradually risen from its grim image to a more positive one emphasised by its growth, the successful co-hosting of the 17th Summer Olympics a good testament to this as well.

State of art, modern ballpark opened five years ago. With a retractable dome and pretty much all the facilities expected, it's an outstanding ballpark, with the only downside that the Rangers have yet to win a Quebec Series title in over thirty years. Unremarkable on stadium specifics with surface and symmetry employed, and also hosts concerts on a year-round basis.

Los Pueblos
Avro Field (cap. 5,000) -- Yoseo University-Los Pueblos (QIS)

Located halfway between Montevicio and Jolbonopolis, Los Pueblos is a small, specialised city of 200,000. Located on top of five mesas, it was first built as a closed city for the creation and development of the atmoic bomb in Quebec and Shingoryeo by Kenneth D. Barbenheimer in the 1940s, and has since expanded into a modest, small-sized city with job stability, stable income and good outdoor life.

Avro Field is the home to Yoseo University at Los Pueblos's baseball team. Brick outside walls, blue infield and orange outdoor seating. Batter-friendly ballpark with low walls and compact dimensions. Downtown location with proximity to the hotels and restaurants help, though combined railway station and bus depot are about two kilometres away.

Montevicio
Alvarez Ravine (cap. 27,500) -- Montevicio Dodgers (QBO)

Montevicio is a major, coastal city located on the southwestern tip of Yoseo region approximately 350 kilometres and 4 hours west of Jolbonopolis. Famous for its Mediterranean climate with hot, dry weather on year-round basis, it is traditionally considered to be the sole beacon of warmth in a nation known for its winter. While a principality dating back 400 years it is still a young city, with its incorporation and recognition as the protectorate of the Shingoryeoite state only coming the mid-1870s. The subsequent railway connection to Joongyeong, combined with the opening of the Monte Vincenzo Casino and the development of the Montywood of commercial television and cinema, have expanded Montevicio into a major economic and tourist location. For more seafaring tourists, ever-famous Santa Ana Beach will be their place, with the multi-ride pier separating the two halves of the 8-mile beach that is considered 'Home of Quebecois Surfing'.

In terms of sports Montevicio has multiple sports powerhouses with the QBL's Lakers and QBO Dodgers being the biggest names. In the summer, the Dodgers become the centre of the attention, the nine-time Quebec Series winners one of the original six franchises to take the field in the inaugural season of 1967, ahead of curve in spending, and are also known to be in contention most years. Unlike the Lakers, and more with collegiate sides in USM and Yoseo-Montevicio (YUM), they have also not moved away from their homefield and have maintained it consistently over time. As for the ballpark itself, it is a symmetrical ground with great sightlines and high stands. Field dimensions are small with decent chances of home runs, but its location on top of a hill makes it difficult for ball to fly in the night games, not to mention relatively easy level of fielding for outfielders. Home runs may galore, but not the second/third base hit. A minor warning with the hill - arrive early, leave late if you are driving or taking the subway.

Prince Eric
Prince Eric Coliseum (cap. 25,000) -- Prince Eric Athletics (QBO)

Home to the biggest port in Yoseo region and the west coast, the city is a beautiful city with the city-meets-nature landscape (helps to have mountains and ski slopes on background, and hundreds of islands to the north), small-town feeling and locals' obsession towards leisure and wellbeing. It is also one of the fastest growing in the country at 550,000 residents, and has seen huge influx of immigration, something that has brought out some tensions among local and regional circles.

The proximity to the water, in the meanwhile, is what makes the Coliseum one of the most difficult ballparks to play for both pitchers and batters. On one hand, wide field dimensions, but the other hand it gets very foggy and windy in all directions, making it difficult for outfielders to defend. Also why the concrete outer wall exists, even if it may appear an eyesore for many fans. It is unlikely the Coliseum gets replaced in near-future, however, with the Athletics' small-market status and budgetary issues.

Coloratura Falls

Located in the edge of the Quebecois borders, named after the world-famous Coloratura Falls that the city directly faces, Coloratura Falls is a quiet town of 200,000 that is about an hour and half away from Kingston and three hours away from Pahtakequayang. Outside of a fairly robust tourist industry on the gigantic waterfalls just outside of the town, it is famous for its ice wine and the western school of Pansori based in the peninsula.

As for the KD-Daintree Park, it does not particularly depart from the city's charming downtown with leafy streets and centuries-old streets with old-world charms. A retro-classic ballpark that was built to replace the pre-existing municipal stadium at the turn of the last century, it starts showing a bit of the age. Fortunately it makes up for it with dedicated fanbase and outstanding event options offered by Coloratura State University, a somewhat unremarkable institution based to serve the local population.

Cornwall
H&N Park at Princess Boulevard (cap. 11,000) -- Cornwall Tigers (Q-AAA)

Located in the mid-point between three cities of Songak, Hanbat and Kingston, Cornwall's a small city of 175,000 that has not exactly departed much from centuries prior. Famous for its limestone architecture, year-round outdoor markets, a very active live music scene complimented by its status as a city with highest restaurant per capita in country, it is viewed by many to be a small-sized city with big-city charms, enough to the point where most would not exactly notice the presence of the Royal Military College where the army officers are trained across the bridge.

The Princess Boulevard is located slightly to the west of Downtown and into the residential area, where most of the population tend to be either the students attending Queen's College, one of most historic universities, or increasingly the young families. A perfectly international-standard pitch, it has hosted both the Cornwall Tigers and both RMC/Queen's College teams fine over the last twenty years, and has been upgraded with costs paid by the Kingston Tigers organisation, who have had their AAA affiliate here since the 1990s. A batter's paradise with high park factor, it is mostly devoid of unusual features outside of massive, red roof over the infield section marking the Tigers' and RMC's colours.

Kingston

Third-largest city of Quebec and Shingoryeo by population, and the centre of Mahan province in the southwest of country with approximately 2.6 million people. Metropolitan and diverse on surface, as seen by its impressive skylne of high-rises, but also sharing a bit of provincialism and isolationism straight into the core of its residents, the mixed-economic centre of the region is a city of contradictions in its own right. There is a certain sense of social lethargy, but at the same time safety, and the ethnicaly diverse makeup of the city no doubt gives it a different look than other cities of similar profile.

The city's best outlet to handle some of these issues usually come in its musical scene, where the southwestern school of rap and R&B continues to be strongly rooted in the city, and the sports teams. Kingston is a multi-sports town on its own right with large fanbase across most main sports leagues, with most teams having won multiple titles in recent decades. Due to its big-market reputation there is a particularly high expectation for the local stars to succeed, which either gives a player lifetime fame or crushes their mentality. Both the Jays and the Tigers have done well for most part in recent times, however, so that's less of an issue on their end.

Mudeung Field (cap. 32,000) -- Kingston Tigers (QBO)

Kingston Tigers are the winningest franchise, Mudeung Field is the third-oldest in the country, and its atmosphere are second to none. Built in the great-great-grandfather time of 1925, the Mudeung Field has not only retained most of the intimate setup in the old-era ballparks, but levelled up slowly over time. With strong sightline, manual scoreboards, outfield wall filled with roses (and very narrow concourse), visiting the Mudeung Field is a ritual in its own manner for the Tigers' fans who would usually drink in nearby restaurants or pubs in the area, located at the bottom of a ravine 30 minutes north of Downtown. Ahead of the WBC-58 the stadium has seen a year-long renovation, which allowed the incorporation of nearby residential buildings with rooftop bleachers, and an underground walkway between the Mudeung Park subway station and the Field.

Skydome (cap. 47,800) -- Kingston Blue Jays (QBO)

As for the Blue Jays, things have not been as pretty. They have had their best years here and there, have won the Quebec Series five times, and have had no shortage of star talent including former Grim Reapers' ace Kevin Buchanan on the pitch, but they have not exactly been the top dog in the town either. And the Skydome falls into a bit of that problem as well, where the first ever domed ballpark in Quebec is now reaching seventy years of age, and it shows with limited amenities, overpriced food and alcohol by ballpark standard, and not to mention the atmosphere issue. Admittedly the latter is more of organisation issue, where the team's relatively fairweather fanbase gets little help from the front office thinking with a small-market mindset for lord knows how long (just ask the user, chronic symptom of being a Jays fan IRL! -e.d.-).

One positive the Skydome has is that its location is impeccable, located right in the waterfront with direct access to the Central station and Pavel Wilson Stadium, the home to QFL team Argonauts, and has access to three subway lines right under it. It is also benefitted by the Jays' side that has maximised the high park factor here with powerful lineup of batters year-in and year-out, providing an attractive team for fans to watch, even if they are not always going to be winning.

Nogojiwanong
Nogojiwanong Citizens' Field (cap. 8,500) - Nogojiwanong Eagles (Q-AAA)

Located halfway between Kingston and Hanbat along the highway, Nogojiwanong's one of several economically depressed cities in this region with factories moving either further southwest into inner Mahan or to Yoseo. These days it's more or less caters to the retirees who reside in quaint houses to the west of city, or vacationers on a holiday in nearby lakes' cottages. So it may come as a surprise for many to see the city being selected to host a participating team over more prosperous Nakan.

While there might be a bit of truth [scratch]in that some bribes were paid[/scratch], it's more that the Nogojiwanong Citizens' Field is a good ballpark on own. Home to the recently-relocated AAA affiliate to the Hanbat Eagles, the stadium has seen extensive renovation with the inclusion of the futures' complex behind the right outfield, and is a nice ballpark in general. With imposing front facade, comfortable seating and lovely range of concessions, and the announcers and the on-stadium staff's quirkiness and creativity are worth noting as well.

Pahtakequayang
Carlton Park at Wonderland Avenue (cap. 10,500) -- Pahtakequayang Blue Jays (Q-AAA)

Located halfway between Kingston and the Erielhonan Free State on the other side of Golden Lakes, Pahtakequayang is the major regional centre of western Mahan region that is considered one of the breadbaskets of Quebec and Shingoryeo. Once the gigantic manufacturing centre with automobile and other related heavy industries heavily based around here, past fifty years would see the city struggle before eventually adjusting into a new life as a regional centre with a newer focus on healthcare and education, and have started to grow again after decades of slow decline in population.

In terms of sports Pahtakequayang punches well above the weight with the QBL, Q-League and QOVO.1-men all possessing strong midtable names, but it is particularly famous for college sports with the Latilutakówa National University Mustangs a known name in gridiron football, and baseball, where the Kingston Blue Jays have kept their AAA affiliate since the 1970s (eight decades! wow). Carlton Park at Wonderland Avenue is an open-air ballpark that is located in middle of a Wonderland Park, right next into the Golden Calf Arena, home to Q-League side Forest City Athletic. With carved columns of two LNU alumni and Kingston Blue Jays' legends Ha Hyeon-Taek and late Kate Griffin on the third and first base entrance. Relative lack of scran options is a bummer though.

Anju
Daedong Field (cap. 28,000) -- Anju Avros (QBO)

Anju is one of the oldest cities in the country, and one that is talked about relatively less unless you know the country well enough. A city of 1.8 million, it is a historic city that is located nowhere near the Fleuve or sea, but instead located in middle of the massive Lake Abitibi, the Daedong River that flows into it, and is surrounded by many valleys. Its early-history significance as a land route hub to the country’s northwest has more or less diminished with the arrival of the railways in the 1800s, but the area’s diversified economy, headed by the city’s long history in commerce and technology, means that it continues to serve as a major regional centre with high livability index.

Located right next to the Daedong River that surrounds the island of Anju, Daedong Field is one of the newest QBO ballparks that have come from the Aces' multiple expansion bids. Since then it has seen extensive use by both the Aces and local communities, and is also home to Bonghwanggi Cup, one of the five high-school national championships. It is a fairly bland, new stadium with black seats and gigantic centre-field screen, but its recency means that it more or less contains the latest amenities possible, the most notable one being a retractable roof that works well for audience. This would be a positive considering the field's proximity to the river and the Abitibian winter infamous for its windiness.

Attawapiskat

Attawapiskat is a city of two halves. Originally founded in mid-1800s as the regional centre of the Quebecois northwest for both the indigenous peoples, the Shingoryeoite settlers from the south and those from what currently constitutes nations part of Gatchingerrak Union, there is a clearer sense of planned community in it. This was also aided by the initial gold rush that would occur around this time, would allow for wealth and buildings to be built up early. This early spur is well displayed through the northern, sea-level Centretown half. Built on nine islands and the narrow strip of land facing it, the Centretown has broad boulevards lined with elegant, old-world buildings, and sees high volumes of restaurants and local markets. It is also home to some of the latest, hottest setups in the country which have been funded and supported by both the renowned Northwestern University and Zenit Attawapiskat multi-sport club based nearby.

At the same time, after two hundred years have passed, the city retains much of the easy-go vibes and progressive nature from the early days, and this is also noticeable with the proximity to the mountains. About 1600km high and approximately 25.88 kilometres to south of Central station, the city's southern half amicably nicknamed the 'Mile High' is dotted by the suburban houses and relatively newer office buildings, but is only about fifteen to twenty kilometres away from the nearby mountains that only get taller from this point on. For most you enter Attawapiskat via this half of the city, with the eight-runway airport shared by the Royal Quebecois Air Force base, and specialised commuter and subway lines have been built to link two separate transit systems after 50 years of construction in the 2030s to ease congestion.

In terms of sports, Attawapiskat is represented across most sports, but the teams are split based on their respective location. Once the club run under the RQAF, Zenit has its own campus situated right by the water in the Centretown and that's where you would be able to watch women's basketball, football, handball and volleyball, while the prolific Northwestern Marauders are also based in Downtown as well. As for the more outdoors of sports, QFL franchise Broncos, QHL Avalanche, and the Wiz play on Mile High with all three famous for their high-flying offences (and cyclical patterns).

Bocola Field (cap. 29,500) -- Attawapiskat Wiz (QBO)

Usually considered the darkhorse, but never the pageant of the Imperial League, the Wiz play at the clean, well-designed Bocola Field. Bocola, the longtime owner of the Wiz, is a soft drink company famous in the Quebecois Commonwealth that has the global headquarters in the Mile High district, and maintains a good care of the facility. While a good place for most pitchers, the high altitude overcomes enough of the large field size to give it a high park factor, a pitcher's graveyard if you were to ask me on it. Be careful and don't get too comfortable here though, because you still have to play on lower altitude half the time (ask Colorado Rockies and their away form).

Jean-Claude Jarnefelt Stadium (cap. 8,000) -- Northwestern University (QIS)

Unlike Bocola Field, Jarnefelt Stadium is close to the sea level. Located on the Northwestern University campus with buildings both neoclassical and glass palace that don't really fit to the rest of Centretown, the Jarnefelt Stadium is a modest but well-maintained field that is right by the water. Wide outfield that contrast with low, brick walls in the back, and proximity to water means that if you hit a home run just far enough...it may hit the water.

Hanbat
Broad Street Junction (cap. 32,000) -- Hanbat Eagles (QBO)

Standing at around 1.25 million people, Hanbat is not exactly the most exciting of places. Located about an hour west of Songak and two and a half east of Anju, the city once began as a railway hub for the QNR whose northwestern and far-west lines would diverge here, and grew rapidly in the late-1800s and early-1900s. Over time it would quietly but quickly shift into a city of research and science, with the longtime policy offered by the federal and Terre-Aux-Oiseaux provincial government providing massive land and extensive incentives for the companies and start-ups to build research facilities in the city's outer suburbs. It has, for most part, worked out nicely for the city due to its convenient location, neatly paved streets thanks to extensive urban projects, and no shortage of parks and trails in the area.

Once the city's union station for many years, the Broad Street Junction saw a new lease to the life in the mid-2000s after the QNR had moved the station underground, right below the QNR national headquarters just built on the other side of Downtown. The Hanbat Eagles' ownership in Quebec and Shingoryeo Explosives Corporation, who were tired of their decrepit stadium situation, saw opportunity in the Broad Street station and purchased the property and the rail depot right behind it. After four years of construction the stadium would be completed with a retractable roof, main concourse using the Gothic stadium, and lots of small but considerable features designed for young families. The QSEC and related tech companies now and then do a lot of interactive events and shows in the stadium, with over twenty tons of fireworks lighting up the sky after every Eagles' postseason win. Will your team be able to light the sky up just as often?

Jeongju
Jeongju Veterans' Memorial Coliseum (cap. 14,000) -- Jeongju Jayhawks (Q-AAA)

If Anju is a well-established older sibling of the brothers, Jeongju is the very opposite with its flat land and suburban sprawls. Built in the mining boom of mid-1800s with the discovery of gold and later copper, it is a mining city whose fortune varies wildly upon the economic climate of the times and isn't exactly known to be the tourist destination in ways its older brother would. If anything, it looks a bit depressing. It's still a city of 700,000 with plenty of things to do, and nightlife options are somewhat large considering the seasonal nature of workers there, so for those visiting this should be less of an issue.

Located halfway on the five-kilometre stretch betweem the Abitibi Tech University and the Dontown, the JVMC is an eighty-year old ballpark built in the 1970s. An open-air stadium with mechanical scoreboard and a gigantic pit right under the centre-field where the bullpen mounds are at. Artificial turf is used here due to extra snowfall in this part of the country (and the city hall's budgetary issues).

Val-Argent
Shin-Cauchon Field (cap. 6,000) -- Val-Argent Volunteers (Q-AAA)

Located north of Anju, this country town is probably the smallest to host WBC matches with the population of 80,000. Its economy is mostly driven by that of forestry or mining, though the issues latte increasingly face with possible depletion of mineral deposits remain, and you will meet either long-time locals who have not left the town, or those who are here for seasonal work from elsewhere. What the city does have, however, is their love of baseball with multiple diamonds, a strong high school circuit and strong alumni in college and pros present.

The proximity to Anju also helps here as well, with the Val-Argent Volunteers, the AAA-affiliate to the Avros, calling the city home. They play at the Shin-Cauchon Field, a small-sized ballpark. With metallic stands and open-air outfield there isn't much to look, but the matches themselves are well-attended regardless and post-match pints at bars good to have.

Bannockburn

Famous for its pastoral landscape, year-round sunny weather and not to mention potatoes considered to be top two in the nation (their biggest rivals are the ones in Bonneville area), Prince Laurent Island is separated from Oakwood and the mainland Acadie by the tempestuous Ilrang Strait. It was only connected to the mainland by bridge in 2010s, and to this day is considered a hassle to access it from other parts of the province, where ferries are usually a faster way to go. The island, unlike most of the Acadie province, is also hard to get by public transit, so it is very safe to say that additional travel time would be required within and to get to the island itself.

Bannockburn's Isle of Wonder Field is a pleasant, minor league ballpark for the PLI Pioneers, the AAA affiliate of Oakwood Dinos. A standalone ground with the minor leaguers' dorms just down the road, the attendance figure is not high due to its isolated location and the island's small population. Such a shame really, because it does have a beautiful view of the sea just past the outfield, with many ships passing by on the horizon. It is close enough that sometimes, a nearby sailing boat would be close enough to catch the ball with a net.

Bathurst-Mount Ester County
Lawrence D. Guinness Field (cap. 6,000) -- Mount Ester University (QIS)

Bathurst-Mount Ester County is located in the northern end of Acadie, and approximately midway point between Joongyeong and Dongnae-Halifax County on the other end of the province. Considered to be the centre of the Acadie province's less developed, mountainous and more traditional northern half, and is more politically conservative like the Saguenay and Nord-Est provinces north of it. Economically it still holds a lot of its stakes to agriculture and fishing, with by the Gonyang Plains to its direct west (some bordering and within Gaspesie province), and the fishing villages to its east (and if you cross the bay from the Plains, Gaspesie), even as the largest employers are the Quebecois Government, the RQAF, and museums and not to mention the universities.

For most part the city has survived the past waves of economic struggles in this part of the province, partly thanks to those institutions that are housed in historical buildings in the city centre, as well as strong educational infrastructure that attracts students from all across the east. This includes three post-secondary institutions, but in particular the Mount Ester University. One of the oldest and most prestigious universities in the nation, it has a particular reputation in its beautiful campus, strong undergraduate education and medical school. Athletically it is a basketball school though generally high-performing in most sports, and happens to have the nicest baseball field in northern Acadie. Lawrence D. Guinness Field is a symmetrical park directly connected to two on-campus pubs. It has a walkable concourse and has the Mount Ester Lancers Hall of Fame within the building.

Dongnae-Halifax County
Beomeo Field (cap. 42,000) -- Dongnae Giants (QBO)

Dongnae-Halifax County is the fifth-largest city in Quebec and Shingoryeo. Home to the largest port in the nation, and also one of the leading gateways to the country back in time, it is renowned for the hilly terrain that compliments nicely to miles of beautiful beaches and along the area. It is bustling year-round with well as year-round festival cycle best described by internationally-renowned Festival de Dongnae located just down the road from the City Centre with historical buildings, agricultural and seafood markets, and colourful neighbourhoods on the hillside.

Considering its significance as the maritime gateway, it surprises nobody that most sports leagues have a team here in levels comparable to the big two metropolises. In baseball this means the Dongnae Giants, one of the original six franchises, and the long-suffering franchise is considered to be the king in the city with routine sellouts even on weekdays. And when you look at the Beomeo Field, this should surprise nobody. A beautifully designed park that opens up to the sea, local fare and many monuments make it a thrilling venue for fans to visit during the matches, and head into the Downtown right after. Same cannot be said for batters however, who will have to bat against and into wind blowing in all directions, making it a nightmare.

Esperance
Bank of Acadie Field (cap. 5,000) -- Esperance Giants (Q-AAA)

Located in the southern tip of eastern Acadie, Esperance is a small, fishing town of approximately 150,000 people located two and a half hours away drive from Dongnae-Halifax County by rail or bus, and two hour ferry ride away from Twin Citie. Formerly a shipbuilding town, tourism and fishing are its two biggest industries with people visiting here for small resorts either the quaint town known for its colourful houses.

Bank of Acadie Field is a ballpark located on top of a hill just north of the town itself, allowing for a beautiful view of the city and the lighthouse itself from infield. Conventionally-sized dimensions and grass surface are standard as is in southeast. No roof on the stadium for most part, but unlike in the Summer when the sun would blast down your face, this shouldn't become a problem in February.

Oakwood
QNR Park (cap. 20,400) -- Oakwood Dinos (QBO)

Oakwood is a city of convenience. Located in the middle of the axis of highways and railway lines between four different corners of the nation's southeast, it is mostly known to be a transportation hub. This convenience factor has also come helpful in the recent decades, with the pre-existing presence of heavy industry and the recent IT boom, and it continues to grow past the 500,000 people in population. Aside from that, however, the city is relatively unremarkable, with majority of the inner city being planned out early on and needing character.

The QNR Park is among the newest ballparks in the country, built just five years ago. Located in the city's Downtown about five blocks away from the Oakwood railway station, the stadium has drawn positive remarks for its innovative design, and the outfield's ability to 'absorb' into the urban park setting nearby. Located close enough from the Strait of Champions that separate the mainland and the Prince Laurent Island of north, the field is a tricky one for the pitchers due to heavy winds blowing from the sea. An additional note to make is that most games will take place in the daytime, mostly due to noise and safety concerns with night games with the proximity to residential areas on two of the stands.

Twin Cities
Ellington Park (cap. 30,000) -- Saint John Green Sox (QBO)

One of the most historical cities in Quebec and Shingoryeo. Located in the mouth of the Menagwes Bay, and formerly the southernmost city of Acadie province, it is one of the three East Coast metropolises with population of 1.85 million, and status that punches well above it (idk, ask Bostonians). Founded in the early-mid 1400s by earliest Koreanophone and Anglophone settlers who had moved into the Menagwes Bay in the early-mid 1400s, its history is best displayed by the Downtown core with many 1700s and 1800s buildings dating back to when it played a particularly significant role in Quebecois history up to early-mid 1900s.

The so-called 'Piraeus of Calania' refuses to live into the past, however, as it has long evolved into a city of innovations over the last 50 years, with the area maintaining the highest number of schools per capita in Quebec and high numbers of technology and business professionals who have started their businesses. With rows of parks, libraries, museums and playgrounds all over the city's centre core, not to mention the outstanding hosting of the Summer Olympics with Prescott, Electrum, just six years ago, it continues to be a very desirable place to live.

In terms of sports, Twin Cities sides have seen great success in most sports as of late, most notably with Mipojoseon FC's IFCF-15 Champions' League title, the Celtics' recent dynasty, and also the Steelers remaining a bona fide name under famous head coach C.C. Youngblood. And while the Green Sox, one of the original six franchises to the QBO, are still chasing their first ring since 1995, the team's surging form suggests promise to their fans who are one of the most hardcore, fans in the country.

The second-oldest baseball stadium in the nation behind the Parc de Joongyeong, the Ellington Park is a special place for both the fans and the Green Sox organisation, who have been here the entire time. A symmetrical ground built in a residential neighbourhood at the turn of the century, the Elle has seen many renovations and additions to evolve into an architectural marvel over the years, and is loved by baseball fans in general. High outfield walls painted red make it a difficult one for the sluggers, but closeness to the outfield helps for mid-far range hitters, giving it a high but not unusual park factor.

Jacinta MacRaun was given two cycles to take the Tigers to the WBC Championship series, with the LBA signalling dire consequences should this not happen. Faced with a difficult task, MacRaun stuck to her guns, demanding full control over roster construction as a condition for taking over for Buck Fuchs...and using that to pick kind of a weird, arbitrary set of players. It didn’t get her to the finals, but the fourth-place finish (and the team’s first semifinal appearance in decades) has many hopeful that she'll figure it out on her second (and final?) try.

As a hitter, things are more straightforward - she has good power, strikes out a bit too much, but manages enough walks and dingers to make up for it.

On the field, though, he’s a five-tool shortstop capable of athletic impossibilities. Which Sündstrom will show up is anyone’s guess - but could be the hinge upon which the Tigers’ fate swings.
Jeff HUANG, #11, 28, 3B/1B, R/R - Vargas City Lions
Huang has shown the ability to do it all while locking down the hot corner, first in Xingcheng and now Vargas City. He hit .290 with 20 home runs and tremendous defense in his rookie year, then far surpassed those hitting statistics in a breakout sophomore season that led Xingcheng to the championship.

A promising young player who the Kingfishers apparently liked enough to mortgage their entire future for, Vermark is an effective contact-hitter with enough plate discipline and power to get by, as well as an underrated defender and base-stealer.

An old-school slugger who’s increasingly evolved into a new-age three-true-outcomes hitter. She’s also surprisingly solid at the hot corner despite her bulky frame.

MacRaun's flamethrowing ace from her time with Xingcheng, Jørgensen loves to mix high fastballs that top out in the high nineties with sharp, late-breaking shuutos down in the zone. Also mixes in a comically slow, looping 12-6 curveball to great effect. Will retire as the best Llamanean pitcher since Justin Zheng, but would prefer to go out with a win.
Maddie BENITEZ, #12, 27, R - Peninsulara Kingfishers
Benitez doesn’t have great velocity, but her control and command are absolutely second to none - maybe even surpassing that of other famous control artists like Savanna Wladecki. Her first two seasons with the Kingfishers were marked by abysmal run support, but also by some absolute artistry on the mound from the young righty. In terms of repertoire, she has a two-seam fastball, slider, curveball, and newly-developed circle changeup that she mixes to expert effect - and there may be more on the way.
Griffin GONZALEZ, #50, 32, L - Sophie City Monarchs (South Newlandia)
The understated Gonzalez has quietly become someone who can hold his own in some stacked rotations SNLside. His fastball is in the low-to-mid-nineties with good spin and movement, but he is at his best keeping hitters off balance with a tantalizing array of tight, late-breaking curveballs, sharp cutters, and the occasional circle changeup.
Carter WILKINSON, #41, 32, R - Sophie City Monarchs (South Newlandia)
A fireballing starting pitcher who has really matured in approach and pitch mix in the last few seasons, especially after his trade from Apple Valley to the surprising Sophie City Monarchs. Wilkinson likes to mix his high heat with a sharp, high-eighties slider with a lot of left-to-right motion, as well as a circle changeup that clocks in the mid-eighties and features a tight downwards break. Wilkinson is a ferocious competitor on the mound who hates losing, and as a consequence can tend to lose his recently developed sophistication and just huck fastballs if feeling under pressure - something that the coaching staff and his catchers will need to keep an eye on.

An underrated young starter who plies her trade in Chromatika, Sigurdsson has become a fan favorite in Lanar for her big, looping curveball, a complementary sinker/changeup mix, and her signature pickoff move.

Al-Kharid Raiders—World Baseball Classic 58 Roster

Having recently discarded the previous regime's diplomatic isolation policy after the brutal November military coup d'état, the newly established Sultanate of Al-Kharid is looking to make its first foray into international baseball. The Al Kharid men's baseball team, also known as Al Kharid "Raiders", represents the Republic of Al Kharid in international baseball. Refounded just last year, the team has since been governed by the Al Kharid Baseball Board (ABB), having been administered by the now-defunct Colonial Oil Fund (OLF) briefly under its previous incarnation 40 years ago. Its headquarters and training facilities are located in Tollgate, Kharidian Lumbridge.

Notes on the team
As always, there's a slight defensive focus in team selection - but less so than previous years. The standard order has quite some ferocious batters now, with Pijpenbroek, Amachi, and Shiina capable of doing a lot of damage in various ways. At the same time, the best players are defensive in their qualities: Newich is potentially the best player on this team (on the batting/fielding side) but the shortstop is just that good a fielder. For pitchers, Vasquez is the clear ace, Ohashi is not bad at all, but the differences between the other six starters are near negligible on the surface - it really depends on the opponent who is the best fit. For relievers, Ishibashi and de Castro are a clear step ahead of the rest, but Martis, Anabuki, and Kanzaki all offer much more specific and specialised strengths.

Aiso, listed as a general outfielder, might be the key to even more variation, especially with a pretty poor selection in right field (Natsuka).

Michaeux could make an appearance faster than you think, depending on especially Tone's form at the tournament.

Home venues
As with most of this sport, there is some competition between Finisterre and Yoshima. This extends to the home venues as well. Series of three matches are usually scheduled per region (ranked by how often they're used):
1) Katashi: the city of Katashi has several ready venues, including the Katashi Dome (the largest venue in Ko-oren) and Maesaki Park (smaller, but often used by domestic teams). Sometimes even the Heisaka Grounds are used (which is one third the size of Katashi Dome, to give you an idea). Katashi is hot and humid, though the sea breeze makes it nicer than it sounds. The Dragonflies are .778 here.
2) Finisterre: the entire region has several big stadiums and they're almost always sold out if the Dragonflies come to visit. The Citadel (Santa Teresa), Ventovente (Ferrovente). Finisterre has a dry heat that persists for most of the year. The Dragonflies are .737 here.
3) Rest of Leleia: the regions west and east of Katashi don't have the same population as city of Katashi itself, but has a lot of scattered towns with a proud baseball tradition. Twin Field (Nitoya), Obsidian Park (Suvira). These share the hot and humid conditions of Katashi but without the relief blowing in from the coast. The Dragonflies are .667 here.
4) Rest of Ko-oren: not everyone plays baseball all the time, yet there are a few diamonds here and there. Le Losange (Aminey), Honrothru-din (Senoren), Vamada Océanique (Étouille), Naminaka Park (Schemerdrecht). The climates here are friendly and mellow year-round. The Dragonflies are .786 here.
5) Alara and Etena islands: the northernmost islands of Yoshima are baseball-crazy as well, fans come from all over the island just to see a match. Uvesaki Field (Echizen), Vidari Stadium (Teragaseki), Vusodalo Stadium (Teraoka). These have all the humidity of Leleia and the friendly temperatures of the mainland. The Dragonflies are .667 here.
6) Selesi island: the second-largest island of Yoshima has only a few venues, being the least densely populated part of Yoshima, but the few places they do have are popular. Ginofruit Field (Arakura). Like Leleia, it's hot and humid, with a decent chance of extreme weather. The Dragonflies are .818 here.

Cultures
Baseball is mostly played in two linguistic regions: Finisterre - with names like Benvito Parga, Denis Caamano, or Bieito Vasquez - and Yoshima, with names like Dodo Ritsushima, Eikichi Matsuoka, and Vianol Sivurila. Both claim to be the source of Ko-orenite baseball, but with Yoshima's far larger population, they dominate the news cycle. What's more, of the twelve LPB teams, eight are in Yoshima, three are in Finisterre, and one is in Cote Austral (names like Ré Fouquet, Jean-Charles Andry). So while both regions take the game extremely seriously, it's usually the Yoshimans who dominate the LPB's Ko-orenite conference and the national team. Yoshima have even threatened to go it alone, break off from Ko-oren (both in baseball and in politics) and have a 'national team' of their own who face off against a Finisterran team every year. There remains a rift between the two groups that every head coach will have to try to reconcile in order to build a winning team. It's all good when the team's winning, but the cracks show when the results aren't going our way. The Cote Australiens, Intermareans ('Len Pijpenbroek, Woutre Bardemaker'), Gehrennans ('Edtas Dakritdhen, Agata Maisorenten'), and any player from the southwest ('Simon Gray, Mason Bennett') are happy to work with anyone.
Yoshima wants to play in shades of red and orange, Finisterrans want to play in yellow, but to spite the Yoshimans, claim to like the national colours green and blue.

Coaching staff

Manager/Head Coach: Sofia Rasmussen (SLL) (63)
At this point, Sofia Rasmussen might just be the person that has had more success than anyone else ever. Seven total appearances at the World Baseball Classic Championship Series – four as a player, for the Super-Llamaland Tigers, and three as a coach, with the South Newlandian Elephants. Four of these trips culminated in titles. The former catcher is a big part of the puzzle for why South Newlandia was a back-to-back WBC champion. However, she is now six years removed from taking the Elephants to the final series. With most of her WBC-winning squads now beyond their prime years, this cycle will see a massive overhaul, with half the team differing to what we saw in Cassadaigua two years ago.

Hitting coach: Margo Jansen (SLL) (59)
Jansen, the former hitting coach of the Tigers, had joint the team together with Rasmussen. The two had previously worked together at the New Llama Wizards.

Pitching coach: Jack Miller (45)
Miller pitched for the Elephants way back in the early days, but injuries ended his playing career before he could ever really assert himself in his prime. In retirement, he worked his way through the coaching ranks of the Walstreim Stingrays. After some years as the pitching coach there, he joined the Elephants’ coaching staff for WBC57.

(SP1) Maike Bookmer (35, R) (New Llama Cyclones)
(Arsenal: 4-seamer, Sinker*, Changeup, Slider)
Bookmer was the first female starting pitcher in South Newlandian World Baseball Classic history. She primarily uses her sinker and changeup to disrupt the timing of hitters, with a deadly four-seamer in the mix. She focuses on generating weak contact with her pitch mix, and achieves excellent results. A recent Evan Masorka award winner in Super-Llamaland, she is heading into her third consecutive cycle as the staff ace; although some slowing down at age 35 seems inevitable.

(SP2) Wolodymyr King (27, L) (St. Riecarn Saints)
(Arsenal: 4-seamer, Slider*, Changeup, Cutter)
King was drafted fourth overall by the St. Riecarn Saints, and the towering pitcher has been proving that right by providing excellent play for the first seasons of his career. He doesn’t only have a fastball that touches triple digits, but also a slider that breaks extremely hard. Pitching against him is a real challenge, and it’s been even harder since he was paired with Brad Moore on the Saints, who seemingly helped him unlock even more potential. He has consistently improved throughout his career and helped turn his Saints into a regular playoff contender.

(SP3) Hailey Clark (26, R) (Peninsulara Kingfishers)
(Arsenal: 4-seamer*, Changeup, Slider, Curveball)
Drafted third overall by the Kingfishers, Clark impressed quickly, with a hard fastball and rock-solid arsenal of breaking pitches. Like King, Clark has been rising the ranks quickly, and is now one of the best Newlandian pitchers in the game. She still needs to prove to be able to do it at the highest level, but she’s just entering her prime.

(SP4) Ben Gonzalo (34, R) (Ratzupalfu Rhinos)
(Arsenal: 4-seamer, Slider, Curveball, Sinker*)
Gonzalo’s pitch mix complements itself well; throwing the 4-seamer most of the time with a phenomenal curveball that completely disappears from where it was initially going. In recent years, he has profited from incorporating a pitch that is similar to Ryan Hunter’s cutter, but breaks even harder, and is classified as a sinker here. This pitch has become his main weapon as his fastball velocity has slowly started to go down. Working to improve your game with the help of other pitchers is a major part of baseball, and Gonzalo has started to mentor his Rhinos’ teammate Melissa Silvestri (who will miss this Classic due to a lingering UCL tear) in the same way.

(SP5) Brandon Jackson (25, R) (Elephant Valley Snow Bears)
(Arsenal: 4-seamer*, Changeup, Slider, 2-seamer)
Jackson was taken sixth overall in his draft class, and slowly established himself as a premium pitcher in the South Newlandian league. Despite being selected just two picks after Wolodymyr King, his ascent to the Elephants happened much more gradually. His big strength is the fastball, even though the velo doesn’t jump off the page – the spin rate on the 4-seamer does. He can also throw it with a 2-seam grip. The Snow Bears’ environment, featuring many fireballers, seems to have helped him develop. While his off-speed stuff isn’t elite, he does have a reputation for coming through in big moments.

(SP6) Charles Morgan (23, R) (Sun City Flames)
(Arsenal: 4-seamer*, Slider, Curveball)
Charles Morgan was drafted fourth overall by the Flames after some dominant years with the Red Elephants in college, and quickly started to deliver for the team. His main weapon is his triple-digit fastball, which was the pitch that initially put him on the map. His secondary pitches are still coming along, but he’s thrown the Slider and Curveball with much more success in his second season. He is a young, budding star for the Elephants, who will be used cautiously; but he could eventually pay big dividends.

Bullpen
The Elephants will not have a typical closer setup, but instead operate on leverage. In approximate order, from high- to low leverage. Relievers will usually not appear in consecutive games.

Darlene Le (31, R) (Ruditown Dachshunds)
(Arsenal: 4-seamer, Changeup, Slider, Splitter*)
Darlene Le, a former top-ten pick, has established herself as a top closer, most recently joining the Dachshunds in Free Agency. Her strikeout pitch is her splitter, being a bit of a pioneer for a pitch that is now more commonly seen with South Newlandian pitchers. At this point, she is the most reliable reliever for the Elephants, which will see her used in the spots with the highest leverage – not necessarily with the team leading in the ninth.

John Trunkman (25, R) (Sun City Flames)
(Arsenal: 4-seamer*, Slider, Curveball, Changeup)
After being drafted eleventh overall by the Flames, Trunkman quickly established himself as one of the best South Newlandian relievers in the game. The young star throws a triple-digit fastball that hitters will struggle to adjust to thanks to an excellent spin rate. Adding a lethal combination of off-speed pitches seems downright unfair, although Trunkman does tend to issue walks at an above average rate. Nevertheless, he will be the other High-leverage option for the Ellies, despite a relative lack of big game experience. Also, his name is Trunkman. You can’t go wrong.

Côme Nguyen (24, R) (Apple Valley Vipers)
(Arsenal: 4-seamer*, Changeup, Slider)
Nguyen is the lone true rookie on the team, having just been selected by the Vipers; although she had shown plenty of good pitching as a relief specialist in college, playing for Walstreim. She has a quite conventional arsenal of pitches, with her big strength being in staying one step ahead of the batter; diligently studying every minute detail about her opponents. Her lone weakness are her off-speed pitches. They don’t get hit often, but when they do, they will get crushed. It remains to be seen if she can handle leverage this high in a bullpen that has some weaknesses behind Le and Trunkman.

Samuel Vaughn (28, R) (Ruditown Dachshunds)
(Arsenal: 4-seamer, Curveball, Slider*, Changeup)
Vaughn was one of the feel-good stories of the off-season. He had been initially drafted by Ruditown, but embarked on a stint in Knetyohai that was ultimately unfruitful. Now, he is back with the Dachshunds, and returned to the pace that made him a star initially, pitching his best career season after his return. While he is another righty with a fairly conventional pitch-mix, he does run good splits against lefties, especially with the slider.

Dhruv Webber (32, L) (Ratzupalfu Rhinos)
(Arsenal: 2-seamer, Cutter, Changeup*, Curveball)
Dhruv Webber is filling the role of elite lefty reliever, which can come in very handy in plenty of situations. He is much more of a control artist, with none of his pitches really standing out as much in velocity or spin rate; but he has mastered a variety of different pitches to keep hitters off-balance, and shines with elite control. Thanks to two deep playoff runs with the Ratzupalfu Rhinos, he also has plenty of experience in High Leverage.

Lorenzo Harvey (25, R) (St. Riecarn Saints)
(Arsenal: 4-seamer, Splitter*, Sweeper)
Unlike some players in this bullpen that were swiftly identified as Elephant-material, Harvey had a slower road to the national team. Despite being drafted early, he struggled to stand out on the Saints in his first few seasons, and clearly needed some time to tinker with his pitch mix. In addition to his Splitter, which remains his strikeout pitch, he took notes from the slider of teammate King, and developed a variant that suits his pitching style, which leans much more on command.

Kathrine Peterson (27, R) (Denison Dynamo)
(Arsenal: 4-seamer, Splitter, Slider*)
Peterson is likely the most surprising pitcher to make the Elephants’ roster, considering she had a rather slow start to her career. Since being drafted in the second round as a player with no real standout traits, she’s bounced around a few teams (including the Renaissance, which means she has previously been caught by Sofia Löfgren at the club level), but nevertheless improved her stuff. A breakout season put her on the radar as a pitcher who can be there in a pinch and throw a few good innings. Her arsenal does also feature the Splitter, but the Slider is her main strikeout pitch.

(C) Sofia Löfgren (SLL/SNL) (24, R) (Xingcheng Renaissance)

Sofia Rasmussen Löfgren was born in Super-Llamaland, but due to her South Newlandian maternal grandmother, she was eligible to play for South Newlandia, which she has chosen to do. Drafted as an all-around great talent, she became famous when her Walk-off grand slam jump-started the Renaissance coming back in the Esportivan Series, and has generally enjoyed an uptick in power lately. South Newlandian catchers don’t typically bat higher than eighth, so Löfgren clearly is something special with the bat; and she also stands out as an excellent defender.

(1B) Tiffany Grey (31, R) (Peninsulara Kingfishers)
(Speed: 3/5 | Power: 4/5 | Contact: 5/5 | Fielding: 3/5)
After a promising early career that included a ring with the Elephants, the career of Grey seemed to sputter out on the Flames; but a move to Peninsulara has reinvigorated her career. While she lost some defensive value over the years, she is still a good option at the plate, standing out with excellent averages and a good helping over power. An injury to Nicolas Perez has opened up a starting spot for Grey, and she will be eager to take the opportunity.

(2B) Mike Oeland (29, R) (New Llama Cyclones)
(Speed: 4/5 | Power: 3/5 | Contact: 4/5 | Fielding: 4/5)
Oeland was seen as one of the best prospects in his draft class, and had even taken part in a few Baseball Slams for South Newlandia. Despite good stats in Denison, he failed to break through in a fairly crowded South Newlandian infield. Since joining the Cyclones, he has improved his defense, and will be taking over second base for the Elephants at last, now entering his prime. He’s a good everyday player, not elite at anything, but with no real weaknesses to his game.

(SS) Kevin Barros (22, R) (St. Riecarn Saints)
(Speed: 2/5 | Power: 5/5 | Contact: 4/5 | Fielding: 3/5)
Barros is inarguably one of the big young stars among the Elephants. After being drafted by the Saints following two years at RUoN, he won the Rookie of the Season award, immediately standing out as an elite power hitter for someone fielding a premium defensive position. Barros is a bigger-bodied shortstop, and he has big shoes to fill. If his bat can keep up with his production in St. Riecarn, that should be possible for him.

(3B) Leo Jimenez (24, R) (Rüsselsheim Blue Sox)
(Speed: 2/5 | Power: 3/5| Contact: 4/5 | Fielding: 2/5)
Having now returned to Esportivan baseball, Jimenez re-established himself as a key talent for South Newlandia. Although he isn’t a great player defensively, he does have solid skills at the plate, highlighted by a strong batting average for a third baseman, and an excellent eye that allows him to draw walks at a high rate. He is probably one of the weaker players starting for the Elephants, and will likely split some time with Goodson at the hot corner.

(LF) Maria Philipps (24, L) (Ruditown Dachshunds)
(Speed: 3/5 | Power: 4/5 | Contact: 4/5 | Fielding: 4/5)
Philipps hit the ground running in Ruditown, a franchise that didn’t always hit its outfield draft picks. After just two seasons, she is proven as a player that can contribute to the team with her bat in various ways. Defensively, she doesn’t have the best top speed, but she is nonetheless a good defender thanks to her good positioning and quick first step. She also can hit from both sides of the plate, although she does still frequently hit lefty against left-handed pitchers, depending on how she matches up.

(CF) Emil Hurley (30, L) (Peninsulara Kingfishers)
(Speed: 5/5 | Power: 5/5 | Contact: 4/5 | Fielding: 4/5)
Despite remaining a Kingfisher in Free Agency, Hurley has continued stacking excellent seasons ever since he got here. He will be inheriting the starting spot in Center Field from Zimmerman, but he has been a contributor for this team for a long time – famously scoring the winning run of WBC55. His speed is one of his biggest assets, and while South Newlandians are generally conservative on the basepaths, Hurley will make use of his ability to take the extra base.

Shawn Zimmerman is a living South Newlandian legend, heading into his ninth Classic starting in the outfield. A five-tool Center Fielder in his prime, he started to regress in his thirties, losing some defensive value in the process. After struggling with the Comets, he has returned to South Newlandia, where he moved to Right Field. He is still a terrific hitter, and managed to replace raw power with an excellent eye, leading to high levels of on-base success. This is not to mention his clubhouse leadership – he feels like the captain of the ship.

(DH) Nolan Ramsey (29, S) (Newport Dolphins)

Ramsey declined a fair bit in Felswyr after a terrific start that included a Rookie of the Season award in Malidridad. Now in Newport, he has once again found the fine form he had at the beginning of the career, with good all-around batting skills, but especially his ability to pull and elevate. He is DH-ing for the Dolphins, but he’s also serviceable first baseman. He has been in and out of the Elephants’ roster, but is trying to prove himself as a guy that should stick around for good.

Danson is well-rounded backup catcher with no glaring weaknesses, and should not be a massive downgrade when stepping in for Löfgren. He is very likely to catch the starts of Elephants’ ace Maike Bookmer, who he has formed a strong battery with on the Cyclones. Ultimately, he should not make a massive impact, but he is a good backup.

(2B) Malika Bains (35, R) (Sophie City Monarchs)

Bains has been demoted from the starting role following some years of regression, especially last season with Sophie City. She’s still a hitter that will get on base a fair bit, and can field second base well, but the upside just isn’t really there anymore. She’s still a good defensive alternate, but her lack of positional flexibility will likely make this her final WBC as an Elephant.

(SS/IF) Jack Goodson (32, R) (Ruditown Dachshunds)

Goodson is an excellent fielder, especially at short, his native position. He’s not as great of a hitter, so his value is sometimes somewhat limited, but he can still provide a lot of value to every team – every team needs a good utility infield player. Goodson fits this role well, and will afford the Elephants plenty of flexibility in the infield.

One of the most hyped prospects when she was drafted as a teenager, Pohl has developed well with the Monarchs, with improvements across the board in season two. She’s not a flashy outfielder, but she can hold her own well enough; her real upside comes with the bat. For a player of her age, she has an elite walk rate, and she combines it with a great power stroke that will definitely be a dangerous weapon pinch-hitting. The everyday consistency will need a few more years to fully come along – at 22, that is understandable.

#11 Ozzy Richardson (32 L/L) - Veteran of 8 seasons, he lead the High Country League in Strikeouts, not a bad feat given the elevation challenges. Throws a nasty curveball!
#18 Stan Blowhart (26 L/L) - 1974 ROTY, the Ginger Kid from Montvale is also an avid skier and supposedly learned how to pitch from throwing snowballs.
#27 Matthew Smith (25 L/L) - Known locally as The Doctor, he can throw a slider with the best and is said to have one of the best arches on his curve ball. Also maintains a .215 BA, best amongst starters.

ST. CATHERINE - After a disastrous 57th Classic - again - the Barnettsville National Committee dismissed the notion of not competing, and controversially kept with the manager of the only championship squad in Lycrabon/Barnettsville history, Brianna Bruce. Love her or hate her, the former Newmanistan Rocket - always a fiery player and coach - kept her strategy of following in the footsteps of both her home nation, and Rocket rival Cassadaigua. The method of imitation/flattery was an entire squad and coaching staff made up of only females. In this second iteration of the new plan, all eyes are on the ladies, and the bench may get a little warm if the team falters.

Lineup Notes: Robiquet is an incredibly speedy lead-off hitter, while Kujala has versatility in making contact and either getting on base or advancing Robiquet. They have played as a 1-2 combo at the club and national level for many years and Robiquet is an expert at adapting his baserunning to Kujala's approach at the plate.
Brewer is the best all-around hitter on the team, both capable of hitting for power, making contact to score Robiquet and/or Kujala, and running the bases himself to extend hits to extra bases.
Horn is the best power hitter and fulfills the traditional cleanup role in fourth (whereas previously, Ben Dawson would fulfill that role while batting third).
Torresino is strong and makes good, consistent contact, but is not quite as disciplined as he should be. Ben-Haim is a skilled, patient, and experienced contact hitter and a speedy baserunner, similar to Brewer but with less power and consistency.
Martinez is a solid contact hitter and an effective baserunner, while Adamcek is a more traditional power hitter with less foot speed. Batting pitchers (especially Barbosa and Egozhevy) tend to be more effective baserunners in front of Robiquet, circling back to the top of the lineup.

Should We Switch the Roster?

Milchama had one of their most notable WBCs of all time last WBC. This had nothing to do with what happened on the field (we kinda failed and crashed out in octos) but what happened off the field as Milchama and Banija combined to create a new baseball league. This league has been so successful that both users immediately forgot about it and haven't really done anything after populate teams and maybe we didn't even do that. Based on our posting history we certainly did not do that, it's fine, we'll get around to it this time.

However, there is one other thing that's important about last time, and everybody knows what it is, that's right we had the exact same roster. And frankly, it's clear that the roster wasn't good enough so we need some new faces and a nice reset. We've also realized we have never done short bios in our baseball rosters and we should totally do that so we are. Look! We're improving!

Manager - Gershon Terron. Terron, the former manager of the Karakorum Camels, has been rumored to want the post for years. Now that he has it, will he be able to take the reigns and make the Warriors a team that just doesn't lose in octos. The good news for Terron is that through coefficient mayonnaise (does that even work in a baseball context?) Milchama is still a top 10 team. However, with the loss last time in octos Terron knows that this is boom or bust for him.

1. Batya Jones CF LHB - Plays in South Newlandia. Was moved to leadoff after hitting very well and being a key piece for her club team.
2. Tali Mironer 2B RHB - New to the team after Dalen Daniels terrible injury. Her .407 OBP in the most recent MBL puts her in a great place on this team.
3. Marius McNeesh 1B LHB - Star of the team and has been involved in every WBC since the end of the Isolation. He is starting to get older but he's still a superstar.
4. Maia Tennons LF RHB - The other great hitter on the Warriors. Her exploits are legendary across tournaments and she's looking to continue her HOF baseball career.
5. Gilli Goldberg RF LHB - The other new face. He was Terron's big risk pick and may have a short leash if he doesn't perform.
6. Naomi Kerenton 3B Switch - One of the best defensive third basemen ever, Kerrenton has improved with the bat recently and her power has increased the last couple of seasons.
7. Max Krennick C Switch - Shosh Hamat finally retired to Krennick takes her place. He hits better than her but he's still a catcher. 93% caught stealing percentage. Run on him at your own risk.
8. Noah Holny SS RHB - He struggled last year and is still starting because of veteran leadership. However, he is a strong number 8 hitter so expect him to really reset the table.

SP 1: Diego Numarkez - Up and coming Mizrahi prospect. Was aggressively promoted to the ace of the staff but many are excited for him.
SP 2: Benjamin Miller - Known for his curve and screwball but his fastball might just be his best pitch. It's certainly underrated.
SP 3: Eric HaAdomim RH - Former ace of the staff, has been moved to number 3 because of the two newbies. However, he's still an ace in South Newlandia so this is a deep staff.
SP 4: Jamie Kierker LH - Former number 3 who moved down to the number 4 slot. He is the greatest finesse pitcher, never throws above 92 but every single pitch is on the corner.

Bullpen:
RP 1: Norry Tookan LH - He's not a bird, he's just a man with 102 mph fastball.
RP 2: Taylor Tailor RH - Their father was a taylor. So was their grandfather. Sorry that there is nothing notable about them baseball wise.
RP 3: Seymour Kornig RH - Former starter for Milchama. Moved to relief but is usually a starter at club level.
RP 4: Galit Schachar LH - If her wicked curve doesn't get you, then her ridiculous slider will.
RP 5: Tenli Food RH - He wants food. He also wants to strike you out.
RP 6: Avi Allens LH - Fast fastball but doesn't really have a second pitch. Has been moved down as his fastball has faded but still has it.
RP 7: Jonas Hemekt RH - Former closer was demoted because of how the Drawkland series ended. However, he should really rank higher after his 1.04 ERA last season.

Dionizas Altani OF LHB - Former right field starter has been moved to the bench because others have surpassed but still first off the bench.
Dani Lamen IF RHB - Is a great defender anywhere. One of those pesky leadoff hitter types who always seems to go to a 3-2 count before either a seeing eye single or a groundball to the shortstop.
Dalen Daniels 2B/SS RHB - Former starter because of his injury was moved to the bench. If it it heals fast enough he might become a starter again.
Khojin Mikanikei OF Switch - Great player but 20, one day they will start.

A note on Milchamian pitchers:
Since cricket got increasingly popular in Milchama over the Isolation there has been a concurrent belief in increasing the ability of pitchers to hit. Therefore, Milchamian pitchers tend to hit like Greg Maddux or like pitchers in the 1920s. Not actually good hitters but will be able to get on base if you give them an easy pitch.

Relievers note:
Relievers are listed in order of leverage situation. RP 1 = reliever likely to come on during the highest leverage situation, RP 2 in the second most important etc. No traditional closer but you get the idea.

Some Notes on Milchamian Baseball for Foreigners

One thing that has been rarely discussed among the Milchamian press is how Milchama plays baseball while certain parts of the Milchamian legacy are legendary, shorter starting staffs, more reliance on starting pitchers throwing more innings, and the pitcher always hits, there are other things that are less clear. So let's do an extended tactical breakdown of Milchamian baseball because it's fun and it's winter break so we're bored at home.

Let's start with the batters. Milchama values OPB above all and so the first two slots in the batting order are people who consistently have high OPB. However, there are traditionalists who believe that the leadoff spot should still have a speedy lad who can swipe a few bases and stolen base attempts are fairly common in MLB. So usually a fast guy (guy being a gender neutral term as applied here) who can get on base. While many understand that the 2nd spot is technically where the best hitter should hit based on sabermetrics very few, Jerry Geeken is one of the notable exceptions, actually do that so the second hitter is just another high OPB guy but is slower.

The third hitter is a weird one and there is no consensus. Some people prefer a slugger, though everybody agrees the best power hitter bats clean up, while others just prefer another generic good hitter. I would say that based on how it's played recently the move to slugger is happening more and more though I do think that's the influence of Marius McNeesh being the number 3 hitter for the Warriors for many years. It's definitely in flux.

We all understand the clean up spot and if the three hitter is not the second best power hitter than they bat at number five. The 6 hitter is generally solid but not spectacular and for some reason usually the third baseman though there is no rule defining it that way. The 7 and 8 hitters are the two people in the team for their defense and usually, as expected, are the shortstop and catcher though sometimes a centerfielder or second basemen sneaks in there based on the team and whatever is going on. The 9 hitter is almost always a pitcher though a few managers have been experimenting with the pitcher at number 8 and putting somebody else at number 8. It has not caught on because "Joe Maddon is a bad tactical manager" and "Joe Maddon really tried to blow Game 7 of the 2016 World Series" are universally held true opinions across Milchama which has made the pitcher in the number 8 spot less viable.

Then comes the rest of the game. Milchamian baseball is somewhere between Japanese baseball and the dead ball era. Fundamentals are valued and players are bred to play the game "the right way" meaning mostly running hard and hustling. Celebrations are obviously encouraged and while bat flips are not Super=Llamaland or Quebec style but they're not uncommon either. What this means in practice is a lot of running, lower scoring games, less power than many other similarly ranked nations, and more of an emphasis on contact. Especially since the rise of cricket, many Milchamian baseballers also grew up playing some cricket and so have incredible bat control and therefore are known to manipulate the field. Milchama encourages manipulating the field and unless some unknown rookie up the field is generally all over the place to respond to specific tendencies that a batter has. The batters have adjusted by trying to "hit 'em where they ain't" and so the conflict continues between batters and pitchers.

As for pitching, while the fastest pitchers are fast by any standard they usually hold it in reserve where pitchers are expected to turn the order over at least 3 times and ideally 4. Most pitchers do throw in the 90s MPH but where in the 90s can change quite a lot. Starters will increase their velocity over time and add new breaking pitches as most starting pitchers have a varied arsenal of between 4 to 6 pitches to use of various intensities. The technological revolution on breaking pitches has come to Milchama and it's led to some hellacious sliders by relievers but while starters can throw the same pitches they don't because of what's expected of them to pitch deep in ball games. Teams generally have 10 to 11 pitchers with a 4 person starting rotation and 6 to 7 relievers. 1 reliever is designated as the swingman who will either spot start or have a long relief appearance. Starters pitch every 3 or 4 days and usually pitch around 220 IP per year. Pitchers will also consistently be involved in manipulating fields and may even change fields between pitches to maximize, or to get the batter to think about a specific pitch the pitcher wants to throw next.

Against Milchama then expect some good fundamental baseball, some low to mid 90s fastball and some tricky pitches to change the 2nd and 3rd times through the order, a lot contact and some frankly silly fields that will somehow mostly work. See you soon world for the 58th World Baseball Classic!

DR Srednjaci do not have a strong league but send their young team to try their luck. The Srednjaci is a young country, although the young one in NS sports has notable results.
As a team sport, baseball in our country has never reached the popularity of some other sports. Despite the growing popularity of baseball, it still lags behind. Handball is still the most popular team sport here. But basketball, football and volleyball are already very close. The difference between handball and these sports is not as big as it used to be. After that, ice hockey was placed in the top 5. Baseball is in the group with field hockey, futsal and rugby. The last place in terms of viewership and popularity belongs to curling.
The popularity of baseball in our country was mostly contributed by the competitions on International Baseball Slam !
Neptune Taru is team of the best U18 players of our League. That means, best young players of all clubs in National League will recive invitation for joyin to Neptune Taru Camp. In Camp they will be trained for International Baseball Slam tournament.
Many of those players playing now for the National team.

The first league consists of 10 clubs and the champion is the baseball club Neptune Melarit , their Firs title ever. Optima from Alt Loka, small town near City of Kula have most titles of National championships.
The other 18 clubs are divided into the second league North and the second league South.
Many foreign coaches and players are helping to develop baseball in the country and are increasingly popularizing it among children.
The largest "Pitch Nest" baseball stadium is located in the city of Taru. That the newst and modern one.
Second largest is "Jarun" in City of Kula.

Ray Frounta’s phone hadn’t rung in quite a long while. The Eshian Baseball Association was in a difficult place over the last couple years, and things were just a little too quiet, with Eshian baseball’s popularity being at an all-time low, despite the nation very much still loving the sport.

Between the recent move to Esportiva furthering LPB’s dominance over the EBA’s own languishing league in the ratings, and there not being a 2028 WBC for the Eshian team to play in, Eshian eyes were still on baseball, but in other nations rather than at home.

This phone call, however, was about to change all of that, as it was delivering the news that the World Baseball Classic, after its year’s hiatus, was back for 2029… however, there was one caveat.

Unlike most other editions, which would see the Owls playing half of their games at home in Yeshley Field, every nation in the tournament would be assigned their home stadium… in Quebec and Shingoryeo. While there would surely be some Eshian fans dedicated enough to make the trip over to Los Pueblos to watch their favorite team, Yeshley Field would remain quiet for another year, and Eshian eyes would be drawn abroad once again.

However, none of that would change what the WBC meant for this team. They’d waited two whole years for this opportunity, and it was their time to shine. Their opponents? Drawkland and Delaclava – two heavyweights from Sonnel – and three unranked sides: Ubernordwinds, Canning and Tri Ann. This cycle, their goals were simple: first, get to the round of 16, and second, finally make this the year they break through to the quarterfinals. If Drawkland could do it in WBC 57, Eshialand could do it this time. The fourth time had to be the charm.

Their first game to get them into the swing of things would be away against Canning in Bongohdong, before a true test against 1^st seeds Drawkland in Los Pueblos. These two games would be a perfect way to set the stage for the upcoming group stage: a mix of newcomers trying to make a name for themselves and heavyweights from the land of sevens… and all of it would be an exciting show.

The Traditional Preview Post

Sure several people might accuse of us "spamming the RP thread" and "doing too much" but let's be serious here there is still a baseball tournament coming up and while we totally forgot about the IBC, our bad, we're really excited to talk about baseball so here we are. Anyway, like in most tournaments we enter it's important that Milchamians know about their group mates and this WBC is no exception. Milchama enter as a Pot B second seed and have to deal with that fall out because that's what happen when you lose to Drawkland in octos. This is unfortunate for the Warriors who now are in a tough group with some good teams. Manager Gershon Terron said, "This is a tough group but this is a group that we expect to do well in. We can beat these guys."

So here's our group:
Group E
South Newlandia (1) -- The number one team in the world and the team with the best league in the multiverse. The Elephants are very very good. We should be good enough to beat them once or maybe twice but don't expect much beyond that. 2-2 overall.
Milchama (10) -- That's us! We just gave an account of ourselves and it's pretty unflattering. We'll advance anyways.
Tikariot (17) -- The metal guys! Unfortunately, they have to use wood bats in international baseball so they can't put their advance metal skills to the test. Also, we're better than them so expect something like 3 or 4 wins.
Srednjaci (50) -- We've heard of them before. I think they play soccer and we may have played them at some point then. Who knows really? Anyway, even if they can beat us in soccer we're actually much better at baseball so we should win here as well. 4-0.
Vonum (UR) -- We got nothing, you got nothing, expect a lot of runs and a lot of wins. 4-0.
Valanora (UR) -- The Elves! AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! We can't even beat their puppets, let alone the actual Elves. Granted Valanora is a legendary soccer team with not much of a baseball history but Margaret does love them and only tolerates us so this will be a tough matchup. I'd guess we'll lose 2 of these games. So a 2-2 record overall.

Where does that leave us? We'll have 6 or so losses. That should be more than enough to advance and then it's all about how we do in elimination rounds like it always is. Let's hope we don't play Drawkland again, I'm sick of those guys.

RHP #36 Félix Clermont, 31 - never skips leg day, so he drives off the mound into a 94-96 MPH fastball, lots of stamina, good big curveball, change has a good amount of break too
RHP #44 Sean Caldwell, 30 - 2-seamer at 94-95 and changeup at 85-86 both have great lateral break, similar release angle makes it harder for hitters to judge, throws curve and slider as well, all from low three-quarters release

Baseball has only recently gained a foothold in Vilwandia, having come from overseas to coastal cities like Dreport, a start given to many a pastime in modern Vilwandia. As such, there is no fully organised nationwide league, with the majority of players coming from Drea itself. The playstyle largely focuses on simply hitting the ball hard and then, when pitching, to make it hard for the opponent to do the same, fielding being more of a last resort. Background information
The Kytler Peninsulae are returning from decades of international isolation and competing in an array of international sports, quite often unnervingly well. Is baseball going to be the latest example of that? Based on the International Baseball Slam, possibly! And there's a past history of success here from World Baseball Classics of generations gone by, at least to the point of "reach the playoffs and then fall over." The national team in those days were usually known as the Conquerors, which was decidedly optimistic; for this revival, they're being branded as the Phoenix. Or "Pheonix" according to IBS officials. Burn them!

The sport remains one of the two big summer team sports in the country along with cricket, with the latter more popular in the northern peninsula and baseball bigger in the south. (The majority of Kytlerians actually live on neither of them, but on the land connecting the two known as the Eastern Corridor. Domestically baseball is probably bigger than cricket there, but cricket gained a resurgence after a strikingly successful T20 run in what was the first physical sports tournament a Kytlerian team had played in post-isolation.)

The Kytlerian Baseball League is notable for a specific compromise rule on the DH debate, and one that has inadvertently led to a distinctive use of pitchers. Under the "Kytlerian Compromise," pitchers bat, but managers have one opportunity per game to sub in a pinch-hitter for the pitcher but not remove the pitcher from the game (the use of this must be declared at the time of the substitution). The pioneering manager Angufams Apyrphung reasoned that if he used this opportunity on the starting pitcher's first plate appearance, then immediately pulled the pitcher on the second, his starter would not only never need to bat but would almost certainly have a low enough load to be able to start on shorter rest next game. After Apyrphung's Clifford Milliners won three national titles in a row, his methods became increasingly popular across the league, and now it is absolutely standard practice for Kytlerian teams to use a three-man rotation on very limited pitch counts, roughly along the lines of Bill James' proposal for a three-man rotation but with less defined parameters (the most common one is to pull the starter no later than the end of the at-bat in which they threw their 75th pitch, and this is the one used by the Phoenix manager).

Scouting report
Position players: Sigurbergursson and Johnson have big platoon splits, which is why they're two of the first three in the order against righties and don't even reliably start against lefties. The former, along with all the Icelandic-named players in the lineup, are Græntfjaller-Kytlerian dual nationals who are often referred to as "BFGs" - the B is for Big, the G is obvious, and you can decide for yourself what the F is. They're all erratic three-true-outcome sluggers. Their antithesis is Harper-Barnes, one of only four women active in the Kytlerian Baseball League and by far the best; a lightning-quick hands-and-feet athlete lacking badly in power, she specialises in turning double plays. Rogers is the best offensive catcher in the country by a distance, but Marshall is better at the whole "being a catcher" business, so they tend to be rotated, often with Rogers DHing. Mocks is pure emergency cover at catcher.

Starting pitchers: The fixed rotation order is Miller, Lundy, Whaariny.
Miller is a vastly experienced ace who has a record seven KBL Pitcher of the Year titles; he's all about command and control, especially at this stage of his career. He tends to pitch backwards off his slider, which still has plenty of horizontal movement and reliably peppers the bottom of the zone; his main fastball is a two-seamer that also has some useful movement, and he mixes in a cutter, changeup, and an occasional curveball.
Lundy does his best work with his four-seam fastball, which he consistently locates well, and pairs it with (in decreasing order of usage) a slider, cutter, and changeup.
Whaariny is noted for his slurve, which has vicious two-plane movement; he pairs it with a two-seam/split-finger fastball mix and sporadically uses his changeup, most often as a surprise strike-stealer.

Relief pitchers: Whootung and Marshall operate as starters for their KBL clubs and are designated as swingmen for the Phoenix; if a starter gets injured, one of them will step into the rotation. Whootung is a fastball-slider power pitcher whom many Kytlerian analysts have expected to move into relief due to his limited repertoire and low lefty arm slot, but he's been highly productive with both pitches (the slider and his less-used, less-controlled changeup getting huge whiffs from hitters cheating on the fastball) and the Rattlers haven't messed with success. Marshall has a more traditional starter look and a similar pitch mix to Lundy, though he uses his cutter more and controls his four-seamer less.
Sung-Jae, a Quebecois dual national, is seen as the favourite for the closer job; his splitter has scary late movement and tunnels beautifully with his four-seam fastball, while he also has a slider that surprises the unprepared. Other contenders for close-and-late situations are Harper (who gets a ton of strikeouts by combining a 12-6 curveball with a fastball with rising life) and Whosash (a two-way player who was a starter early in his career before elbow surgery and has reinvented himself as a fastball-slider power reliever who can also take his rocket arm to right field). Daniels is the other notable reliever here, a groundball machine with a sinker/slider/curveball mix and a tendency to just plain avoid the top of the zone; he's most likely to be used when there's traffic on the bases with the hope to get a rally-killing double play.

KANMER BASEBALL TEAM

Baseball is a very exotic sport in Kanmer. Many people think that it is a very hard sport from the West, and therefore, very small amount of people play baseball and only on amateur level. There is a baseball league in Kanmer, but it is also not professional and consists only of 6 teams. The national baseball team of Kanmer is also consisted of amateurs and enthusiasts. It is also worth to mention that every professional national team in Kanmer has a word "Imperial" in its full name, and baseball team, as it could be seen, doesn't have it, due to being fully amateur. And still, the baseball players managed to gather a full team with several coaches, make a kit and also collect the money for a ticket to Quebec and Shingoryeo. Who knows, maybe, as there are no pressure on them, they could make a sensation?

Quebec and Shingoryeo National Baseball Team

Narrative Overview: After surviving a major existential doubt in middle of the WBC 53, where the nation has nearly reached the point of withdrawal from international baseball, the Grim Reapers have not looked back, pushing the eventual champions Banija to brink on the WBC 53 and then continuing it further with a remarkable, third-place run on the WBC 54 commonly known as the 'Miracle Quebec' team.

Now, with most of their three biggest names known as the 'Taewha Three' - third baseman Heo Myeong-Shin, right fielder/first baseman Theo-Alexandre Pinson, and centre fielder Samuel Carlini-Mwambutsya - all retiring, and the bullpen mostly causing trouble for this squad all-cycle long, there is no doubt that a major transitional period coming up for the Grim Reapers. Fortunately, the recent crop of talent seems to bode much-needed optimism, with the Under-22 national team continuing to perform well internationally, suggesting an improved state of commitment towards internal, youth-driven pipeline. Of course, it remains to be seen on how this group of talent transitions - it took some adjustment period midway for the previous crop - can they do it much quicker this time?

Also accompanying the Grim Reapers, as expected, are 'The Bubonic Plague', the official supporters' group of the Quebecois national teams on every senior level - there is no equivalent of such on junior levels, due to many safety and developmental reasons to be discussed in future time. With a membership that goes into about three to four millions, the ultras are known for their wearing of the Quebecois Tricolour (Red, Black and Yellow), topless selves, and their extremely liberal use of musical instruments and hand-held flares. With this WBC being held entirely at home, it is safe to assume that tens of thousands will be decking the stadium stands, in-city pubs and hotel rooms of each and every services where their services (so the games) will be needed.

Retired Numbers

Seven years ago the Grim Reapers, just six months after the Grim Reapers' miraculous third-place run on the WBC-54 in Zwangzug, retire their two greatest infielders' numbers to the rafters of both the Parc de Joongyeong and Commonwealth Park, the longtime homes of the Quebecois national baseball team. The numbers coincided with their return from Cassadaigua to their home teams in Kingston Tigers and Saguenay Lions. It was a fitting nod to two legends and lifelong friends who have played on rival schools and clubs all their lives since high school and into Cassadaigua, and who have represented the finest peak of the Quebecois baseball. We will all remember their decadelong heroics, especially the runs they had on the WBC 53 and 54.

Kate McLelland-Gong returns for her fourth WBC in charge after successfully leading the Grim Reapers to the quarterfinals finish, where they would come up short in four games against eventual world champions Ranoria. To no surprise the Saguenay Lions' manager is back on what's considered to be a very positive statement of confidence towards her and the coaching staff, with the increasing likelihood that the #10, Heo Myeong-Shin, being considered to succeed McLelland-Gong in eventual future. It won't be for some time, however, especially with Heo wanting to land a head coaching job before, and there also being possibility of Levinson Webster, former Reapers' bench coach now managing Delaclava, coming back lord knows when. Most of the coaching staff have returned, with the exception on the pitching coach where former Grim Reapers' starter Mathieu Berard joins the staff after an eye-drawing performance for the Levis Wyverns' squad that led the league in ERA.

This is a tough one. Normally the Grim Reapers have a strong group of about three to four starters, and rotate the fifth/sixth one per convenience (or even resort to bullpen day, depending on the usage rate), and in some ways this team has that. The famed Double B duo has finally come to an end after Kevin Buchanan's retirement last year. The former Masorka-award winner, who has split his time between Kingston Blue Jays and Elephant Valley Homers, has finished out his hall of fame career at age 39, and is off to the sunset, putting great pressure in the shoulders of Baek.

Baek, at age 32, is still capable of putting together top-class performances, even if his international record hasn't exactly gone that way ('tis way Maggie works!), and he continues carrying the reputation of legendary Quebecois southpaws. The next behind him will be the one to watch. Jean-Pierre Touretskii and Nahuel Fornacieri are very pitchers with contrasting style of play - former an all-around three A+ pitches and difficult deception, while the latter is a powerful sidearm with a strong sinker and 95-mile pitch - a rarity among any submarine or sidearms. Nathan Francis is a powerful pitcher with his two pitches - slider and a fourseam - the primary ones used, while Isaiah Baek's fortitude lies in his fastball and curveball, further accentuated with a 2m frame and long limbs.

As per usual, the relievers are where things do get questionable for the Reapers so you may not want to ask too much. In case you need to, however, Benoit Everson's a 95-mile cutter throwing golden retriever, Chloe Botez known for the deceptions in her fourseams (location not pitch is the key), and Clement Jolin relatively underappreciated due to his postseason struggles. Park Seung-Dong is the submarine pitcher who is effective one-inning option, Devon Ackie the veteran on the team, and Yi Hye-Yeon the long relief to go in case the matchday starter gets burned or is out early with an injury. In case where a quick out is needed, C.J. Laudonikis is going to be the one to watch - 15-pitch count, but he makes the most of it.

Eight years on from the World Baseball Classic team nicknamed 'Miracle Quebec', the team's makeup entering the Parc de Joongyeong looks mostly different than those who have taken the field in Zwangzug. With Diana Hwang Pinela's season-ending injury in last August, veteran shortstop and team captain Benedict Calles III is the only player from that squad who remains to this day. Interestingly enough, his likely successor on the shortstop spot, Heo Hae-Seung, is the cousin of #10 on the rafters, who was the Miracle Quebec squad's captain his rookie season. History does go in circles sometimes huh?

The post-Miracle generation of players have their strengths on the infield, and they have no doubt succeeded well, securing two quarterfinals appearances in last three cycles. Three-time league MVP Noel Jackson is the team's face now, the Joongyeong Bears' third-baseman recording history averaging .316 avg. and 36 home runs while playing at Parc for their home ground, while Latham, Agunbiade and Calles the other pieces that have worked out very nicely too. Latham's a strong gap hitter, Agunbiade not exactly filling the power hitter void left by Pinson and Maybin's departure but contributing with impeccable fielding and bat control, and Calles being Mr. Reliable. Joh Jae-Ho and Heo Hae-Seung are the backup options to watch, with with Latham's injury history for former, and Heo developing strong potential as power hitter while with Universite du Saguenay.

As for the catchers, Joh Hyeon-Myeong's age is the one to watch. The veteran catcher, who has recently moved to Elephant Valley Homers in South Newlandia (quite a fitting successor to Horace Choo tbh), is a defensive stalwart and should be starting about half of the matches. That said, he is also 34 and starting to age a bit over time, so expect Errol Kim and Cassandra Littlechild to get more time. Littlechild is a defensively-minded catcher who has grown well under the system while Kim, a 20-HR catcher for the Joongyeong Bears, is an all-arounder who has benefited more from gaining more experience.

If the infield's considered to be the point of strength among the fielders here, the opposite could be said for the outfield. Cecily Maybin is a more powerful, outfield version of her older brother who is capable of hitting 30 home runs a season and can throw far, as is Seon Jeong-Min, a power hitter considered to be the fitting successor to now-retired Ranorian legend Nicolas Lux. Both Maybin and Sung have limited coverage zone, and both Seon and Bryce Shelton have slow feet too, so a lot of the outfield will have to be covered by Kweon Hyeok-Joon and Emerson Brubaker. Kweon is a speedster on centrefield who has a very tight grip on the bat, while Brubaker utilises strong instinct and BQ to get to where the pitch is in advance. The problem here, however, is not on individual players, but how well they can put it together as a whole. This is something that the current Reapers' squad will have to find an answer for - they had that in Cassadaigua, but not in Chromatika, and it all goes cyclical for the outfielders anyway.

Notes on our Grim Reapers

Traditionally, the Grim Reapers have taken the pitcher use with great dose of liberalism. Assuming the pitcher has a solid game, the pitching count is loosely observed, and it's absolutely in sight for the starter to go well into seventh or even eighth inning. That said, it is just as likely for the starting pitcher to get yanked within first three innings if one allows too many runs early into the game, which of course have happened before. In those cases, expect at three to five pitchers to be used for remainder of the game. Still, this is a squad that doesn't always use the sabremetric splits and substitutions to great degree, and barring major collapses (again) the aforementioned ordering will be kept.

Stylistically, the the Grim Reapers continue to be the power-based, offensive and aggressive bunch they have been - it's in their playing colours and will stay like that forever. It is a squad that doesn't exactly steal a lot of bases beyond the usual candidates - see those on the centre line - and while the infielders are known for being defensively stout, you cannot exactly expect them on the outfield. So this likely means that you may see an occasional whoopsie-daisie with early outs do happen, it will be treated less as a 'oepsie woepsie stukkie wukkie'. Still, positional versatility tends to be valued among fielders, especially the infielders, and that does factor into the selection criteria.

Of course, there is a bit of complicated situation with the Quebecois history and geographic realities. Traditionally, baseball has been a fairly racially and regionally ubiquitous sport in Quebec, though there are strong regional and ethnic elements that are noticeable to it. Traditionally, there is strong sense of regional pride that derives from many of the iconic QBO franchises that have defined its history, as six regions traditionally dominate in both high school and pro baseball output, which reflects well into the first round of QBO Drafts.

There are minor stylistic differences between the regions and how their players' play, but those don't factor as much as how they used to be. Ethnically, the sport does have more Korean-Quebecois players in general rule of thumb, though that means little in this day and age where most Quebecois, whether Indigenous, Caucasian, Korean or of other Commonwealth origins, are fairly multiracial. Still, Korean is the lingua franca of the baseball diamond and that continues to be a defining feature of the Quebecois baseball scene as whole.
