"Bad things are coming"

"How do you know?"

"Well there's uncertainty in Milchama"

"What do you mean?"

"Well look at the cricket schedule, what does it say?"

"Uncertainty in Milchama (1 of 3)"

"3 uncertainties!"

"Yeah"

"What does that mean?"

"I don't know. I'm not certain, obviously."

"Oh god!"

"Yeah we're NS Sports monotheists, only Margaret"

"Fair, anyway, what could this uncertainty be about"

"Do we have new elections?"

"What is this a World Cup? Nobody RPs political scenarios during cricket season"

"We could just to be different"

"Ok but can you name anything political about Milchama?"

"We're no longer ruled by Tim Gonnenberg"

"Great and our leader is?"

"Well it keeps changing every RP because we don't remember the guy's name"

"Exactly"

"So that doesn't work"

"Not really"

"Hmmm... what else could this uncertainty be?"

"Yeah I just have a weird anxious feeling in the pit of my stomach but nothing in particular"

"Well it has to do with cricket at least we know that"

"Is this because we don't really know cricket?"

"What do you mean, we advanced from affiliate to associate member in one matchday"

"That's pretty incredible!"

"It is! So it's not about the cricket"

"I guess that's part of uncertainty you just don't know"

"Yep"

"Wait, what nation are we playing next in cricket?"

"Oh we're hosting Corridor of Uncertainty"

"Well that answers it"

"No, that'd be Corridor in Milchama and I know we have hallways but Uncertainty is something different"

"What if they're like Poafmersia, who are Potato Farmers, but go by Poafmersia"

"Ok, that might be"

"So they put it first like a last name. Uncertainty, Corridor Of"

"That might be!"

"I'm still uncertain"

"Me too but at least we're getting somewhere"

"We also have 3 uncertainties to go so even if we solve one, we still got two more"

"True but it looks like we're getting somewhere"

"Very much so"

"So let's make it work for us"

"Yep"

"Either way let's beat Corridor of Uncertainty and keep improving our test record!"

"Yeah!"

"Come on You Warriors!"

"Let's Go Milchama!"

Milchama line up against Corridor of Uncertainty is unchanged and grounds are here: viewtopic.php?p=39051644#p39051644

Red Kites step up, but still handily beaten

Improvement was necessary after the Red Kites suffered an embarrassing loss to rivals Sylestone in the first game of the 4-match series at home. The first innings of that game was devastating, with the team all out in less than a session, scoring only 77 runs. S Petersen scored the majority of those runs with his 30 in 48 balls the only fight the team had to offer, but that wasn't enough to rally the rest of the team falling like flies around him. The openers were particularly disappointing, with Dammelhead and Lynch scoring only 1 run between them in 9 balls. N Pistecial took most of the plaudits for their performance in the Sylestone side. An economy of 2.66 was the best of the bunch, but more impressive was the 8 wickets they took, demolishing the Ethanian batting order. The only wickets N Pistecial didn't take were those of C Welch and G Umbridge, reflecting N Pistecial's deadliness against the Ethanian batters. Sylestone then posted a score that the Red Kites has struggled to reach in the space of two innings before, let alone once. They declared on 428/6, leaving a mammoth 351 runs needed for Ethane to even draw level in the game. Tiati was the standout performer for Sylestone, scoring a century (138 runs) in a steady performance over 253 balls, with a strike rate of 54.55. 3 other players - Fihelly, Appleby, and Afosha reached a half-century, contributing to that large margin going into the second innings. T Burns was the best bowler for Ethane with an economy of 3.01, taking 3 wickets and conceding 100 runs in 33.2 overs.

But Ethane did not have anything to offer in the second innings to respond to the rout by Sylestone. Dammelhead showed some guile to post a reasonable score, falling just short of a half-century before being caught by Anderson off Hall's bowling. With Dammelhead's wicket gone, there really was no hope. He'd been trying to remain at the crease, playing it safe and trying to build a partnership with anyone else, but no one stepped up to the plate. Umbridge had the early signs of a partnership with Dammelhead, but he was caught too early to make a difference. Dammelhead was trying while the rest of the team crumbled around him. Dammelhead and T Harding struck up a 50 partnership, but it was too little too late for the Red Kites, with Dammelhead falling, caught by Anderson from which the tail collapse ensued. B Hall was the pick of the Sylestone bowlers in the second innings, conceding 32 runs off 13.4 overs while taking 6 wickets. L Afosha was also quite important too though, with an outstanding bowling economy of 1.63.

The team had to step up for the second game. Self-reflection was crucial. To draw level and to give themselves a chance in the series, the team needed to show a much better performance against their long-standing rivals if they wanted to have any chance in this test series. Sylestone would be buoyed with confidence, and the Red Kites would need to arrest that momentum.

Test 2

The decision by Umbridge to bat first was certainly a show of confidence and a sign that the team would not be rolled over easily, considering the result of the preceding game. After choosing to bat in the first match of the series, the Red Kites were bowled out for 77. Choosing to bat first again was a sign that they remained confident in their opening batsmen to put on a show. It was also a reading of the weather and the pitch; the field was great for batting but there was a chance of the outfield slowing up as the game progressed.

The Red Kites set off well, with a solid opening partnership forming between Dammelhead and Lynch. Slow but early momentum buoyed the opening batters, with Dammelhead particularly partaking in most of the scoring looking to get some runs on the board, while Lynch absorbed balls and rotated the strike. The first victim came after 14.5 overs though, with Mankira catching Lynch unawares and taking the stumps clean off, Lynch misplaying the drive. J Harwich came in and struggled immediately, especially against Mankira's bowling when he came back into the attack. He faced only 6 balls and scored 1 run before he was caught by Afosha off Mankira's bowling, misplaying and edging the ball to slip. The fear of the collapse was on, memories of the first game against Sylestone haunting the batters. But they rallied, with the captain Umbridge coming in and settling Dammelhead down. They managed the 50 partnership, but Dammelhead was caught by Vilesti off Pistecial's bowling, leaving the score at 3-134. A decisive moment in the game, with the momentum hanging on a knife-edge.

Umbridge grasped hold of the game and took control of proceedings, putting in a captains knock to arrest the momentum Sylestone were picking up, and swung the game squarely back into his team's favour. S Petersen, the promising upstart, and the experienced Umbridge were in sync and partnered together for over 100 runs, putting in a dogged performance to keep the Sylestone bowlers at bay frustrating the likes of Vilesti and Mankira who were unable to find a breakthough. Eventually, it was Petersen that fell, trapped into lbw by some solid bowling by Hall, exploiting the inexperience of Petersen. 6 overs later and Umbridge was gone, his rhythm upset by the loss of Petersen. A solid captain's knock of 124 runs off 178 balls had put his team in a good position, but they needed more from the tail if they were to set Sylestone a solid target, the score poised once again at 280/5. Farther fell shortly after, scoring 0 runs and absorbing only 3 balls, and Elizabeth put in a reasonable but unimpressive 28 runs off 34 balls, taking a few too many risks leading to being caught out - the team now precariously teetering on 294/7.

A little bit of stubbornness in the tail took the team to a solid total. E. Hillock scored 27 off 39 balls, T. Burns scored a quickfire 20 off 19 balls, and T Harding managed to remain a consistent constancy in the middle with 31 off 98, holding the tail together to a respectable score. E. Hillock took the team to 343/8, falling at the start of the second day, with Burns extending that to 370/9. A little cameo by J Hart took the final score to 384 all out - a defendable total that gave the team a chance of leading going into the second innings. B Hall was the pick of the bowlers for Sylestone with an economy of 2.67 off 27 overs, conceding 72 runs with 8 maidens, taking 4 wickets.

The Ethanian bowling attack made short work of the Sylestone openers as well, giving the team a real shot at winning the match if they rallied early and set about this batting order in the first innings quickly. Tiati, after a good knock in the first game of the series, was out quickly. A lack of confidence showed in hesitancy to play shots which Hart exploited. Bowling slightly off but swinging in, Hart forced Tiati to play the shots, leading to an edge which Lynch was able to grasp on to. Fomleya fell quickly after, caught by Farther with an edge back to the wicket keeper off Hillock's bowling. Sylestone were perilously close to a collapse, the game poised at 18/2. Fihelly and Appleby were beginning to get something going as well and gain some momentum, but Fihelly fell on 26 runs, leaving Sylestone at 48/3.

Appleby and Monteane started the resistance. Appleby notched up to 40 runs in the first real display of grit and determination in the batting order, determined to drive the score up to a respectable total. Good bowling by Burns forced him into a mistake though, which allowed Lynch to get under it and take the catch. Sylestone were at 118-4, with a long road to recovery ahead. Discipline was important here. And they got what they needed. A steady partnership to notch that total up to something competitive. Afosha stepped in to replace Appleby in what had been a solid effort, leading the team on from 118/4 to 206/5, almost a 100 partnership and starting to get within touching distance of that Ethanian total. Monteane fell 14 runs short of a century, but with a worthy performance to make his team competitive, setting the tail up for success. Afosha fell after some dogged batting, just reaching the half century themselves before being straight bowled by Hillock, trying to play too ambitious a shot. Sylestone were at 243/6, an okay total but still short of what they'd want to keep the game competitive. The lower middle order stuck with it though. Anderson batted through to the end of the innings after coming in to replace Monteane, just 6 runs short of a half-century themself. Pistecial also provided a crucial bit of resistance in the dying moments, scoring an important 34 runs off 20 balls to get Sylestone up to 291/7 - within 100 of Ethane. Hall and Anderson took it to 309/8, but the tail offered little further resistance with the team finishing on 318 all out. A relatively high economy for Ethanian bowlers all around - all but 1 had an economy over 4. T. Burns was the standout Ethanian bowler though, bowling 21.5 overs - double what almost everyone else bowled. He had an economy of 2.88, conceded 62 runs, but had 5 maiden overs and took a five-fer.

Second Innings

So, advantage Ethane going into the second innings, but a little closer than it could have been if the Red Kites bowling line up had been a little more disciplined and tight. It didn't start well for the Red Kites though. Dammelhead knocked a single quickly in the first over against Pistecial. However, Lynch switched off and was caught for a duck, facing only 4 balls. He was caught by Hall off Pistecial's bowling, failing to show grit and determination, continuing his run of bad form. The Red Kites were already facing a long road ahead, sitting on 1/1 after 1 over. Dammelhead followed not too long after, unable to get settled on the crease. It was good bowling by Pistecial that forced him to play. He edged it behind, the ball just catching the edge of the bat with pace taken off, and Tiati was able to easily collect it. The appeals were loud and resounding - it was obvious he was out. And Sylestone were off to an amazing start with the Red Kites on 17/2, Pistecial already with 2 wickets. Disaster struck almost immediately again. Mankira put some serious pace on the ball and bowled it tight into Umbridge. He was trapped trying to play across his body, and the ball found his pads. It looked close, Umbridge sent it up for a review knowing the importance of this wicket for the game. It was pretty clearly out, the ball bowled in-line, hitting in line, and hitting the middle of leg stump. Out. Silence across the ground - it had looked so promising but it was starting to fall apart again. The Red Kites were at 32/3, and really needed someone to step up and make a name for themselves, and now.

Harwich and Petersen got something going. They were starting to form a partnership, and had reached the 50 partnership with a steady run-rate, confidence oozing through their bat swings. But calamity. A mix-up between them saw Petersen call for a run, seeking a single. It was tight, but a slight delay by Harwich - a hesitation - was all that made the difference. He grounded his bat just after Appleby had clipped the stumps. He knew. He walked. 85/4. Elizabeth came in. Provided a neat cameo - 24 runs off 35 balls. But let Petersen do most of the work - he was looking good now. Playing shots with confidence, whoever was bowling at him. The 50 partnership again. But once again, it was his partner that let him down. Elizabeth was straight bowled by Hall, the bails coming straight off. Shaken up, Petersen followed quickly after, hitting the ball straight back to Afosha. His confidence had been shaking, the team falling apart around him. And now the only route left to a competitive score was gone. The collapse continued with Farther out for 2 runs off 14 balls, also off Afosha's bowling - cleaning up the middle order. Hillock tried to stop the rot but was unable to provide too much resistance; 11 runs took the Red Kites from 154/7 to 170/8 alongside Harding. The tail was once again relatively easy to clean up, Burns taking the team to 186/9, and Harding and Hart to 203 all out. The lead not big enough, according to Umbridge. The stand out bowler of the attack had to be Pistecial, who was so quickly able to clean up the opening batsmen, though Afosha also put in a solid performance in breaking though resistance in the middle order too.

Sylestone had enough in the tank to take victory. In the end, another 40-50 runs could have possibly done it - enough to remove the tail and work around Tiati who had remained in the game from the start. It's that sort of knock that wins games - openers standing up and scoring big - and that is what Ethane didn't have in this game. Fihelly fell quite early for Sylestone, though not as early as both the Ethanian openers. Fihelly was caught by Elizabeth off Hillock's bowling, trying to play it over mid-off. Fomleya also only managed a meagre 11 to help take Sylestone to 34/2, caught LBW by Hillock. At this point of the game, with momentum the Red Kites had hope - even though it would still be a challenge from here. But another breakthrough didn't come. Appleby knocked off 20 runs from 45 balls, making a 50 partnership with opener Tiati before he was caught by Hillock off Burns' bowling. Monteane fell quickly after, only managing 2 runs to leave Sylestone at 93/4 - once again, if Tiati fell there was a sense that the Red Kites could win this. But Afosha and Tiati dug in, and almost got the 100 partnership between them. Unluckily, Afosha fell just short of a half-century, bowled by Harding. But he'd done enough for the rest of the team to build upon, the team at 182/5 with Tiati still leading the show from the crease. Anderson's 18 made a difference, but also enabled Tiati to remain at the crease well. Anderson edged behind to Farther off Harding's bowling after facing 28 balls, Sylestone now at 224/6. And then Pistecial stepped in, scoring 13 off 27. But that wasn't important, because Tiati was still at the crease to lead their team home.

The batting total wasn't high enough, the bowling wasn't ruthless enough, and the fielding was sub-par in the second innings, which let Sylestone in for the win despite being behind in the first innings. Umbridge certainly made some questionable tactical decisions in the field during the game, some of which enabled Tiati to get those 17 fours - very decent for a test game. His batting was also under-par as well. But this was a collective team effort, and the team choked. Some players can stand up and be proud of their performance and what they put in - Hillock put in some batting resistance and bowled well in both innings, and Petersen was really the only player who stepped up in the second innings in the batting order. Umbridge's century in the first innings was also a necessary captain's knock, one which he unfortunately couldn't build on during the rest of the game. But once again, Sylestone just had the squad depth, ability, and tactical awareness to beat the Red Kites, even from a situation which they were behind and under pressure. It was a good game, but one which the Red Kites should have won.

Ultimately though, it was the captain who made the difference. Luke Tiati had a stellar knock in the second innings, and captained the field well. Umbridge had a good knock in the first innings, setting that strong total, but didn't command his team nearly as well. There's lessons to be learnt here, but the first one is that Umbridge needs to refresh his tactical ideas.

Article posted on the GruenCric website.

Seamers star with bat and ball in crushing win

Gruenberg’s return to international cricket has been marked by recurrent concerns over the lack of a seam bowling all-rounder to balance the side, but Brigveger Grovan and Transportflowmap Renkauer answered that question with aplomb at the home of Gruenberger seam bowling, the Moroschwegen Arena of Death, showing application with the ball and bravado with the bat to set up a huge goat-enabled victory over tourists Lisander. In a match with a top score of 86, Renkauer’s two unbeaten forties proved invaluable, while Grovan’s second innings 45 helped the hosts overturn an 80 run first innings deficit before he led the attack with three wickets as they rumbled the visitors for just 164.

The pitch confronting both teams at Moroschwegen was fast and springy, but it was conditions above that determined the rollicking pace of the match, with heavy skies, the dark clouds pregnant with rain that would periodically disrupt play. Gruenberg were put in under seaming conditions and reduced to 66–4 by lunch, with only Ettexinor Broimbles having the technique to navigate Lisander’s seamers. When he chased a wide drive they plummeted further to 120–6, but Renkauer’s battling 35-ball 40* dragged them over the 150 mark. Bowled out inside 60 overs, it was still a dispiriting return to home cricket, made all the ominous as Lisander cautiously batted out the rain-shortened first day without incident.

Scoring at little more than 2 per over, Lisander brought similar conservatism to their Day 2 batting, arguably squandering some of the potential advantage of their fine first innings bowling display. No batsman proved capable of firmly establishing himself as Gruenberg found swing both conventional and reverse, and in Renkauer’s case prodigious bounce; surprisingly, it was spinner Lemonzesty Yowoax who benefited the most from the bounce. Bowling a quick line over the stumps, he found troubling bounce if not an abundance of turn and scythed down Lisander’s middle order, helped by some unusually sure-handed catching, Nurples Honk taking a diving catch at short extra cover, Broimbles getting his fingers under a skimming chance at leg slip, and Compoundinterest Hmnff keeping his composure to collect a rebound catch at short leg from Pitkin Deisler’s knee.

Lisander were eventually dismissed for 254 and an 80 run first innings lead, and when Broimbles fell over an attempted leg glance, Gruenberg were 103–4 in response, disaster beckoning. Chthchibvuel Thchthaarheq, though, compiled a composed 86, partnering with the aggressive Salajaff Qilairana and inventive Kahunk Uvaevaluvae to add 128 runs. Grovan and Renkauer then brought some lusty power hitting to the wicket, dashing Lisander’s seamers about as they took the score from 231–6 to 347 all out and boosting the fourth innings target from 150 to nearly 270. Both cleared the ropes despite the large Moroschwegen boundaries, and even Yowoax added a towering six of his own.

iiPiqup Fizbin, struggling all season for form, finally produced an opening spell of real quality as he and Grovan reduced Lisander to 26–3, but the wickets kept coming this time as Lisander failed to put together a meaningful fourth innings partnership. Heavy clouds linger, the ball zipped off the surface and curved wickedly in the air, and Grovan returned to rip out the tail, finishing the innings off with a sharp bouncer gloved behind to the ecstatic Uvaevaluvae. Having been bowled out for under 200 in the first innings, Gruenberg had run away winners by more than 100 runs. The 2nd Test at Rajjenkali will bring different challenges on a pitch likely to be much less conducive to seam, and Fizbin may be the man to miss out if Quouodan Skejjibox finally earns his long awaited first Test cap.
Squad for 2nd Test: PA Deisler (LHB, c), EME Broimbles (RHB, OB), PPPPPPP Fizbin (RHB, RFM), BPGV Grovan (LHB, RFM), CRFQ Hmnff (RHB), NQX Honk (RHB), SIT Qilairana (LHB, OB), TIMTAM Renkauer (RHB, RF), QD Skejjibox (RHB, OB), CCLOG Thchthaarheq (RHB, OB), HAYW Tumcoweiss (LHB, SLA), KZY Uvaevaluvae (LHB, WK), LCAS Yowoax (LHB, SLA)

Squad for tour of Milchama: JOW Harper (c), PV Joshi (vc), JJ Arnold, SR Bailey, Faraj al-Huq, DK Gardner, GJT Gunewardena, Mehrab Hussaini, TM James, APR McEwan, NW Miller, NL Mumbengegwi, OG Perry, JL Pettygrove, RHS Seelalankara, JE Stone, Muhammad Zaman

Individual fifties for Alex McEwan and Oscar Perry in the 2nd Test against Britland did enough to patch over the remaining doubts about an opening partnership that’s yet to really fire, but Daronté Gardner, a tall, strong left-hander with a laconic attitude that at times infuriates, has been brought along as back-up.

Captain Jack Harper had an all-time game with a century, unbeaten 80, and three wickets with his cheeky part-time spin, and though Pranav Joshi failed, he’s still averaging over 60 so there are no doubts about his place. Rejoining them in the middle order will be Nate Miller, having recovered from his finger injury, possibly at the expense of the unfortunate Tom James who hit an assured 80 on debut and took a couple of fine catches in the gully but will probably lose his place to the established centurion.

By far the biggest omission is Jacques Van Jaarsveld, who has picked up a stress fracture of the back. The thundering all-rounder has 2 centuries and 18 wickets to his name from his four Tests so he’s a huge loss, as much for his bucket-handed brilliance in the slips as anything. Thehan Gunewardena, an experienced white-ball player, and Jamarcus Pettygrove will have to fill in but critics argue both of them together don’t add up to the red-ball player that Van Jaarsveld is, with Gunewardena’s aggressive batting not well suited to the discipline of five-day cricket and Pettygrove mainly a short-form specialist whose medium pace dobbers lack the bite to take Test wickets.

The second Test saw a fifty for Jess Stone and some fine work behind the stumps; she will certainly keep her place ahead of Sachith Seelalankara, who’s along strictly as wicket-keeping cover.

With green pitches awaiting them in Milchama, Faraj al-Huq is the only specialist spinner brought along, although Gunewardena, a purveyor of quicky, bouncy off-spin, is a genuine second option. al-Huq’s bowling hasn’t quite convinced at Test level yet; his swash-buckling unbeaten 80 from number 9, though, did a lot to redeem those who’ve criticized his effort thus far. He mounted a fantastic 8th wicket stand of 121 with Seth Cameron, the team’s leading wicket-taker who will miss the tour with a broken bone in his foot.

Cameron’s absence yawns almost as large as Van Jaarsveld’s, and means there’s a reprieve for Mehrab Hussaini and Ngonidzashe Mumbengegwi, both of whom have been inconsistent and expensive. Joining them in the squad will be experienced domestic workhorse Steve Bailey, promising young swing bowler Justin Arnold, and erratic left arm quick Muhammad Zaman, who at least adds variety if not consistency.

Nail-biting tie, Upcoming tests at home

Following the difficult loss in the first match of the away series against Milchama things were tight heading into the second match. We needed to buck up having struggled a lot in our past series against Ko-oren and this first match against Milchama. The first three days had been relatively uneventful as both sides currently stood at very balanced positions. Milchama had batted out day 1 putting up a very competitive total at a ground that is known to favour bowlers. Scoring 329 runs we came out to bat shortly into session 1 of day 2. Allard fell quickly not managing to support Merritt for long. Andrews on the other hand put up a good partnership with Merritt and Haggard scoring good amount of runs. Abraham fell quickly giving way to a true captain’s knock from Christopher which allowed to us to get close to the total. The collapse of the batting order during the last few overs of the game however came as a massive surprise to many. Milchama lead by 34 runs coming out to bat for their second innings, which was quite a good lead giving them opportunity to build on it. Their openers however didn’t last long as both of them were quickly sent packing. March hit a good knock of 53 holding the innings steady, receiving minimal support from Carney. Malliteen was a much better batsman on the opposite end to support him as both of them put up good knocks chugging Milchama on the path to a decent respectable total. Their innings however was over by the time for tea on Day 3 as they had been bowled out for 193 with another terrific showing from Xavier Sherburn picking another fifer. To everyone’s awe Sherburn had himself picked up 10 of Milchama’s 20 wickets putting light on his massive contributions. This presented us with a simple prospect, score 228 runs to win. We had more than two days to bat this out so time was not going to be an issue. But we needed to bat smart and not throw away wickets. The pitch however was getting visibly worse and the spinners and pacers were getting a lot more out of it. Milchama’s batsmen clearly struggled to cope with this and why would we be any better. Allard and Andrews however were solid against the bowling as Day 3 came to an early end due to poor lighting conditions. We had 9 wickets in hand with some runs to score. Surely this was possible, and as we would see it was. Day 4 begun as a fabulous day for Milchama’s bowlers as they quickly dismissed both Allard and Andrews in the first session. Prentice’s spin was surprisingly effective against Andrews as an inside edge dangerously carried to leg slip which got him dismissed. Haggard and Abraham now faced a deadly prospect. Haggard looked quite good and settled in for a while before a fiery delivery from an in form Pehrson dismissed him. We were in trouble, our batting was not as deep as our opposition’s and Christopher was the last proper batsman left. He too was no match for the bowling quality of the Milchaman bowling attack as the off stump was torn off the ground in a terrifyingly good delivery. It was all down to the last few batters. Waterson’s experience served as key here. Waterson managed to hold on and score some runs, much needed runs with Rowe on the other side. Both of them put us in a good position to finish it off. With Rowe’s wicket falling, Horne failed to provide any support to Waterson. Bateson however managed to stick at the crease for a while before eventually losing his wicket too. But it was much more closer now. We were in for an excruciatingly close finish as we needed five runs to win with one wicket in hand. Milchama had gone on the all out aggressive. They needed to do it, otherwise they would have suffered a comfortable loss. Waterson however was unlucky as he was stuck at the opposite end with Sherburn having to face the lightning quick deliveries of pacer Pehrson. With only 2 runs to win, both were very nervous. Pehrson even showed this nervousness as he stepped over the crease while bowling in the third delivery of his over putting us much more closer. This was it, we needed just one run to record our first ever test victory. But to the disappointment of thousands of people watching the game, this wasn’t to be. Pehrson took the most important wicket of the match in the very last moments of the match as Sherburn failed to hold on and score that last run which would’ve given us that much desired victory. Trying to reach a ball in the very perfect line and length, it took an outside edge heading straight into the arms of the captain of the Milchaman National Team in an almost symbolic fashion. This was the fourth straight game in our test records that we had failed to win, losing two.

Following our two match test series in Milchama we were finally going to have a few series in this season at home starting off with a 3 match series against Quebec and Shingoryeo. This will be a groundbreaking advancement in the development of cricket in Bollonich as the first ever international test match hosted in the mainland. The presence of a strong domestic system however has given us a wide variety of stadiums to choose from to host these fabulous displays of cricketing skill.

1. The Hitchhiker’s Garden (+4) - Located in the heart of Fermont it’s a great and iconic stadium in the history of cricket. With short boundaries, and a dryish pitch, its perfect for batsmen to be completely liberal with their shots while providing bowlers with minimal to no help.

2. The Lawrence Cricket Stadium (-1) - Located deep in the Vretonian countryside it truly is a beautiful stadium to visit. It’s also one of the largest in the nation however it does have a rapid outfield. The pitch is a highly degrading pitch as batsmen do have the upper hand going into the first two or three days however from that point on batting gets incredibly hard as the bowlers enjoy some turn and swing.

3. The Vendetta Field (-5) - The ground located towards the outskirts of Akusha is yet another wonderful which is greatly symbolic of the Lorfgranian ideology. The pitch is a nightmare for the batsmen as scoring any runs is very difficult here. Grass cover on the pitch is common, often cracks also appear which favour the spinners.

QUEBEC AND SHINGORYEO NATIONAL TEST CRICKET TEAM

Name Age Position Current Team
Heather Martensson 55 Head Coach Twin Cities
Jeremy A. Reid-Collins 61 Batting Coach Trillium Central
Edward Hwang 38 Bowling Coach Royal Quebecois Air Force
Leonard Beckett 47 Fielding Coach Jaures-Wilson CC
Ginerva Kayondo 38 Team Manager Quebecois Cricket Board

Au contraire to what many people seem to think about, cricket is one of the oldest sports the country has welcomed, though not at a particular level of prominence we would see from other batting sports the Quebecois have embraced since then. Cricket was introduced to Quebec and Shingoryeo in late 1800s, thanks to two elements: 1) the active travels of Quebecois diplomats and tradesmen who frequented between the RL-IC portal into the so-called 'British Isles', and 2) when the increased trading relations between Q&S and its allies, namely the former Teus Empire and the Ko-orenite state, successfully brought the sport to the Quebecois soil. It was initially introduced to a series of small townships out in West and East Coasts, where it drew particular appeal towards the landed gentry and the bourgeoisie, and gained community presence into locals schools and rotary clubs where generations of great players and their friendships were forged.

While the sport, due to its community-based limitations, was unable to expand much into major cities and other regions, where football, baseball and later handball took greater hand during the summers, the sport has remained strong in smaller regions across the country. The Quebecois Cricket Board (QCB), from time to time, may have found themselves under severe financial and broadcasting challenges, but they have improved the sport's stances and the quality of competition since then. In past decades, there have been several cricketeers who have plied their trades abroad, most notably in their Anaian neighbour Ko-oren, and all three forms of cricket competition have stabilised after the struggles faced during 2010s and 2020s, with increased media representation and increased money in television rights proving to be good signs.

The state of test cricket in Quebec and Shingoryeo is a tricky thing. While test cricket has been played for the longest period of time, both the multi-day nature of test and the communal nature of cricket in Quebec have meant that while test series are regularly scheduled and played on domestic soil, there are still ways to go. Some players on this roster, who are marked with a * sign, also play in ODI and test, while others play for their regional/provincial sides. As always, the Quebecois players are open to plying their trades abroad- please send me a PM via Discord, or a Telegram for any interest in Quebecois players.

ALEXANDRIA (UPA)—Justin Arnold impressed on debut, making the most of helpful conditions to take three wickets. But Jack Harper left the field frustrated that his more experienced bowlers had not been disciplined enough, suckered in by a pitch that was less green-tinged than solid-tinged; fewer than 10% of Uncertain deliveries on Day 1 would have hit the stumps. “We bowled too short,” said Harper, who admitted that having won the toss and chosen to insert the hosts, he was irritated at failing to bowl them out. “Winning the toss and bowling, I think you always expect to bowl them out within 90 overs,” he said. Milchama finished the day on 258-3, with wicket-keeper Bethany Guerin unbeaten on a battling 45.

Missing Uncertainty’s two leading wicket-takers, Seth Cameron and Jacques Van Jaarsveld, it was an attack nearly as green as the wicket that took the new ball in the morning. Although Ngonidzashe Mumbengegwi was economical, he rarely looked taking a wicket as he bowled too short. Openers Daniel Ross and Philip de Franches were able to leave with aplomb, and compiled a patient 54 run opening stand before the introduction of Arnold finally brought a wicket, de Franches flicking to midwicket. Arnold, the youngest of the four seamers being played by Harper in a lineup that will force spinner Faraj al-Huq to bat at 7, was the lone bowler to consistently target the stumps, and got his reward for a testing spell against captain Hayden March when he finally induced a play-on.

Muhammad Zaman bowled with fire and rattled several Milchaman batters, including striking Jerome Carney on the helmet; but he was generally far too short. All the more frustrating was that of the rare deliveries he did pitch up, he struck twice, taking a simple return catch when he induced a leading edge from Carney, and then finally blasting out Ross, the lone Milchaman batter to pass fifty. That brought Davy Carpenter to the wicket and with him some fluency; in testing conditions for batting, the allrounder proved the benefit of counterattack as he added the lion’s share of a 64 run 5th wicket stand with Yohonatan Malliteen. Jess Stone – who kept superbly, conceding no byes despite extravagant swing after the ball passed the bat – took a stunning diving catch to account for Carpenter and a more straightforward one to dismiss Malliteen.

At 185-6, Harper may have been starting to think about batting, but Guerin had other ideas. Using the crease well to go back and use the seamers’ pace, she compiled a steady collection of short-arm pulls and straight-bat run-downs to third person. Arnold returned with the second new ball and struck immediately with a tight LBW shout against Tanya Pehrson upheld on review, but thereafter Uncertainty were unable to extract Guerin, who farmed the strike cagily. Milchama will resume looking to press toward 300, while Uncertainty will aim to adjust their lengths and take two quick wickets before facing the challenge of batting on the testing surface.

Milchama in Ok Position After Day 1

After an incredible and seriously unreported tie in the last game against Bollonich, after a week off, the Milchama Warriors are back in action on the cricket pitch as they welcome Corridor of Uncertainty for the first of a three test series. At the unique National Cricket Stadium the Warriors lost the toss and, as usual, prepared to bat. The key to the national stadium, as all Milchamians know, and opponents do not, is that while the pitch is bowler friendly, it's not necessarily more bowler friendly in the first innings than in the second or third. The swing promised by a green pitch is more about a ground that, without such a green pitch, would do absolutely nothing and end up as a +6 hitters paradise and too many draws for a good neutral. As Milchamians prefer their cricket to be slightly ball dominated, too many baseball fans, this suits the tastes of the country as well as makes it a devilishly tough place for foreign opponents to play. Also, the crowd doesn't help.

This led to an Uncertainties innings that was over exploited on a pitch that didn't actually offer much swing but a lot of bounce. That bounce seduced the young bowling line up to be short over and over again. That shortness was exploited by the knowing Milchama lineup into a lot of leaves and solid defensive play. Nothing was more clear than in the openers Daniel Ross and Phillip de Franches who got to a nice 54 run partnership in the morning without much risk as both were able to leave balls that were clearly over the stumps or away from the stumps. Only when Justin Arnold started attacking the stumps did de Franches stumbled not quite getting a hold of one flicking to Faraj al-Huq at midwicket.

After that the in-form Hayden March came onto the crease. March had been the Milchamian hero in the tie against Bollonich getting a beautiful 129 in the first innings before a battling 53 that saved the games for the Milchamians. In this game it was clear that the Uncertainties were targeting him. First, roughing him up slightly and then a testing spell from Justin Arnold which finally got him out shortly after lunch for 9. Albeit in 43 balls where, again, March was able to play some brilliant defensive strokes to keep himself from getting out even sooner. But sometimes even in form batters end up with single digit scores in Alexandria and such was the case with March who got out early.

That seemed to presage the inevitable middle order collapse. The Milchamian middle order has looked better in recent times but it is still the same middle order that fell for a combined total of 12 to a County All Star side in the prep for Krytenia so one never knows what could happen. Today it was the good middle order. While Carney did not help matters as he played super aggressively for his 10 in only 12 balls before going down on a simple caught and bowled to Zaman. Yohonatan Milliteen and Davy Carpenter stabilized the order getting another 50 partnership.

That 64 run partnership only brought Milchama to 182, which is fine at the National Cricket Stadium but still a little bit slight. This was especially true when after Carpenter got out to end the stand, Malliteen got out only 2 overs and 3 runs later. It looked bad for the Warriors until Brittany Guerin stepped up again. At various points in this World Test Challenge she has gone from clear starter to having her place on the squad, nevermind the starting eleven, challenged. Today she produced an all word performance in shadowing the lower order. Having an unbeaten 45 and excellently farming the strike. This was especially true in the last hour of the day.

While Kesem Prentice is an excellent bowler, she's only out there batting because the rules of cricket deem it necessary. She's also only number 10 because hoo boy is Bonnie Woods worse. The one advantage here is that Prentice is Alexandrian so this is her hometown pitch and she first played on it at 12 in a school league final and that advantage was enough to see her through to the end of the day. Which is huge because with Guerin on 45 and looking very good, the only thing that will seemingly stop her 50 is one of the bowlers screwing up batting.

Player of the Day:
Daniel Ross who got a wonderful 50 in style and helped form the backbone of a wonderful opening partnership.

What to look for tomorrow:
Milchama take the field to bowl!

See you then!

"So how was the second day?"

"What?"

"How was the second day? You were there right?"

"Yeah"

"Ok cool, so how did it go?"

"Oh it went great"

"Really?"

"Well I had fun"

"Ok but I"m asking about the game. I don't have radio and my TV isn't quite working because I just moved so I don't have internet"

"How are you writing this post?"

"This is IC"

"Ok, whatever, anyway, how did the cricket go?"

"Not great, Guerin got out on 49 which sucks for her"

"Yeah she was so close to a second fifty"

"Yep and it made Milchama 262 All Out which is fine but not a great total"

"At least above 250"

"Sure but we looked like getting 300 based on where we were midway through the first day and then fell apart right after tea"

"Yeah but at least Guerin got us to 262"

"True and then Uncertainty were strong"

"Really?"

"Well not early, they kinda screwed up as on the first ball of the second over McEwan and Perry ended up on the same end after a routine single to midwicket that McEwan thought was two for some reason and he was out"

"Well that's a great start!"

"Yeah and then we gave up a 93 run partnership"

"Ugh"

"Basically"

"So that was the morning"

"Yep"

"Well that sucks"

"Yep"

"Did we scheme over chicken?"

"Well it was a milkhic lunch so no"

"Ok but did we scheme over lunch?"

"Well sorta, we thought we did but it kinda failed"

"What happened?"

"Well we thought adding some pace might do the trick so brought out the big guns again but they couldn't do much"

"So?"

"In desperation March introduced spin"

"And?"

"It worked!"

"Really"

"Well Davy Carpenter came out and that seemed to throw the batters off, Perry had one that fell just short of short leg and in general looked lucky on a few to not get a LBW."

"Oh nice"

"Yeah and then, even better, Perry got a single in the last ball of the over putting him on strike again"

"Good?"

"Great because that brought out Bonnie Woods who immediately threw two bouncers, then an outswinger, and Perry was lucky to miss the delivery."

"Oh well he sounds lucky"

"3 balls later he was out on an outside edge on a similarly good length outswinger"

"So not really?"

"Nope"

"And then one delivery later, Harper was dismissed by Carpenter as he popped one up to Ross at short leg"

"Well that's a way to break up a partnership!"

"It was"

"Did we keep up the momentum?"

"Not really, Milchama did take regular wickets but it was every 30 or 40 runs or so"

"So not terrible but not great?"

"Basically"

"What was the issue?"

"Pranav Joshi"

"Why?"

"Well he was 134 not out"

"Wow!"

"Was it deserved"

"He got a standing ovation from the whole stadium at the end of the innings"

"Ok then"

"It was a wonderful performance. The number of absolutely gorgeous cover drives was off the charts, his wagon wheel looked to have the stability to hold an actual wagon that was how good it was"

"Really?"

"Well maybe one side might not work because you kinda don't want to be behind the wicket keeper but the rest was plenty sturdy"

"Damn"

"You should watch the highlights, the other thing about Joshi's innings was how often he was rotating the strike. He was 134 off 159 so he was constantly scoring. He scored his first 50 in only 50 balls"

"This sounds like an ODI innings"

"It functionally was"

"Damn"

"Seriously, watch the highlights"

"So what did Uncertainty end up with?"

"275 All Out"

"Why so low?"

"The middle order, except Joshi, kinda sucked and the lower order was terrible except for the 9th wicket who scored 64 of which just 3 were contributed by number 10 Mehrab Husseini"

"Wow!"

"Yeah that Joshi innings was immaculate. Annoying as all get out"

"Good band"

"Yes, No Bouquet is a great album, but not the point here."

"It's still important info"

"Whatever, anyway, annoying innings but still a great performance"

"So did Milchama bat again?"

"Just at the tail end because we only had half an hour or so"

"Ok and how did we do?"

"10-1"

"Who got out?"

"de Franches"

"So not great?"

"Nope but not terrible"

"Can we win this?"

"Well we're only 13 down after the first innings, if we bat well it's certainly possible"

"That's good to hear"

"Will this test go five days?"

"Almost certainly not, especially because Milchama doesn't enforce darkness regulations"

"We don't?"

"No because we believe in flood lights and stopping things because it got too dark is stupid with flood lights"

"Well that makes sense"

"I know, it's why we have the policy"

"So no way?"

"Well, it could happen but it seems unlikely in Alexandria"

"Interesting"

"But will we win?"

"Of course, it's Fortress Milchama. We don't lose at home"

"Oh right"

"Yep"

"Well anyway the time has come"

"Definitely"

"Come on You Warriors!"

"Let's Go Milchama!"

Stumps!: A First Win Of Dreams at Comrades

Postby TJUN-ia » Fri Oct 29, 2021 10:29 am

After a famous draw ended our Trent Zone stand, TJUN-ian Cricket felt as alive as it has ever been before...and we won our first 3 games on the bounce! Heading in this series in Garbelia everyone was feeling like we could do something here and entering this one at Comrades, many were expecting this one to be the one this team could finally win.

TJUN-ia Inning 1: 308 all out (81.1 Overs)
We won the toss and Walkins elected to bat first, but that turned out to be a bit of a pain in the course of this game. Sure, Helton's 103 and Ahmed Ali's 53 were very good, but apart from that, the Otters' bowling were the true stars of the show. Kawauso ended up with 4 to his tally and TJUN-ia managed 308 before being bowled all out in front of the opposing fans here.

Garbelia Inning 1: 465 all out (125.1 Overs, 157 deficit)
Romeijnders ended up with 178. That's all you need to know about these innings. He survived a long time before Ntini and Miziara finally got him out. Achterchamp got 60, Altink 53, Kawauso 81 - all brilliant batting indeed by the hosting Otters. Soto also managed to get 4 men out but when the final one was taken, Garbelia got 465 and TJUN-ia needed to claw back a 157-run deficit.

TJUN-ia Inning 2: 430 all out (122.2 Overs, 273 lead)
Then came everything we were waiting for, as the first 6 in the batting lineup (Walkins, McGarra, Ntini, Helton, Rajpore and Soto) all managed to hit half-centuries in their quest to build a lead that could not be overturned at all. Catta got 3, as did Mog and while our backorder could only manage nearly a hundred between them, 430 is a good score to get. TJUN-ia would defend a lead of 273 with Garbelia yet to bat 2nd.

Garbelia Inning 2: 204 all out (49.1 Overs, TJUN-ia win by 69 runs)
It was here that an incredible collapse took place over the course of 49 overs, where the hopes of the hosts were quickly dashed into dust before anyone could figure out why. Romeijinders, Van Ottersworth and Achterkamp all played their parts in this chase and after the 3rd wicket, the Otters were 170/3 and looking like they were cruising towards their first-ever test triumph despite Soto's 2 and Gregorson's 1. Then Kylasov took matters into his own hands and, in the space of a few overs, turned 170/3 into 191/8 - a fifer for the ages that saw everything that could go wrong for the Otters go wrong. Soto took care of nine for his 3 and a simple run out by Miziara signalled the incredible fightback was done. TJUN-ia had somehow turned 170/3 into 204 all out, winning their first-ever test by a nice 69 runs.

Not even Joseph Smith III himself could figure out how his team managed to fight that one back, but a first win was a first win and a cause for celebration indeed. They now go into a well-deserved break before they must face the Otters a 2nd time for a chance to claim a first-ever series win. It's always historic here at the TBC so who knows where we shall go next. GO JAGS!

Article posted on the GruenCric website.

    Lemonzesty Yowoax – specialist batsman*?

Gruenberg claimed a series win over Lisander with a second huge win, and will travel to Azibiotzi with an unassailable 2–0 lead. Captain Pitkin Deisler – under mounting pressure over his own form after his second innings duck saw his average since Gruenberg’s return to Test cricket dip under 30 – however insisted there would be no let-up in intensity and the team would press for a greenwash against their visitors. The Test promises history: not only will the Brokkan Treen host its first ever Test, becoming the ninth ground in Gruenberg’s Test history, but it will be the scene of the first ever day-night Test match on Gruenberger soil.

The decision to award a day/night Test to Azibiotzi – Hundike, another debuting ground, will host the second, in the 2nd Test against The Licentian Isles – has not gone without controversy. The humidity generally leads to heavy dew in the evenings, and the ground’s typically lush outfield will compound moisture issues.** Because of that, spinner Lemonzesty Yowoax may once again be reduced to the role of bystander. Yowoax’s bowling has featured little in second innings, and he was barely used in the 2nd Test, going wicketless; his bigger contribution came with the bat, a free-swinging unbeaten 31 from number 10 to take Gruenberg past 300. It also means Quouodan Skejjibox will have to wait until the Licentians arrive for his debut, with Salajaff Qilairana’s tidy part-time off-breaks proving a more than capable second spin option.

The game saw two injury scares for Gruenberg: Kahunk Uvaevaluvae went down with cramp in the first innings, and Nurples Honk retired hurt in the second after being struck on the thumb by a bouncer. While Uvaevaluvae – whose rotund physique differs markedly from the sleek cut of most modern sportsmen – later recovered, attributing his cramp to gorging on dolphin meat prior to the game, Honk did not return and has been ruled out for the next four Tests with a broken thumb. Honk, Gruenberg’s form domestic batsman during the isolation years, has yet to make a Test century but had compiled his most fluent innings to date, a lustrous 62 from 70, when he was hit.

With Plumbert Sthwlorq having failed to make a case for himself and Zambuimmi Hengtridan Jr. seemingly not being considered Test match ready yet, Spakjutwazz Depraxinong seems the most likely to be given a debut in Honk’s place, adding another capable spin option, but the presence of another attractive left-hander in the top order is sure to renew questions over Deisler’s long term future. With Ettexinor Broimbles having proven himself with bat and perhaps ready to take over the captaincy, for now it is Deisler’s sure hands in the slips as much as anything keeping his place – but, in a country more ruthless than most when it comes to the captaincy role – for how long?
Squad for 3rd Test: PA Deisler (LHB, c), EME Broimbles (RHB, OB), PPPPPPP Fizbin (RHB, RFM), BPGV Grovan (LHB, RFM), CRFQ Hmnff (RHB), SIT Qilairana (LHB, OB), TIMTAM Renkauer (RHB, RF), WBR Sempauer (RHB, RM), QD Skejjibox (RHB, OB), CCLOG Thchthaarheq (RHB, OB), KZY Uvaevaluvae (LHB, WK), LCAS Yowoax (LHB, SLA)
* Gruenberg does not use the gender-neutral ‘batter’. It does also not allow women to vote, so, priorities?

** And not just when Ettexinor Broimbles is playing one of his sexy cover drives. Sploosh.

NEW SPARTA (UPA)—Selectors have announced three changes to the Uncertain squad as Jack Harper’s team reels from a dispiriting 19 run defeat in the 1st Test in their tour of Milchama. Seam bowler Muhammad Zaman sustained a knee injury while batting in the fourth innings and batter Alex McEwan has been ruled out with a torn calf muscle following a training ground injury; both will now fly home, though McEwan, who disappointed in both innings, seemed likely to lose his place in the starting lineup anyway. Eoghan Dunphy, yet to earn his maiden Test cap, will rejoin the squad to replace McEwan but is not considered an opening batter, meaning a Test debut for either specialist opener Daronté Gardner or all-rounder Thehan Gunewardena, who has past history opening in white ball cricket for Uncertainty.

More positive news comes from Devon Roberts passing a fitness check and being called up as Muhammad Zaman’s replacement; the fiery seamer took 10 wickets at 17.90 in his first two Tests before missing the Britland series with injury, and his experience should bolster the attack, partnering Justin Arnold, who registered a hugely impressive 10 wicket haul on debut, though it wasn’t enough to prevent Milchama, led by captain Hayden March whose third innings hundred swung a low scoring match, inflicting a first Test defeat on Uncertainty. Rounding out the changes, allrounder Jamarcus Pettygrove has been dropped and spinner Harjeet Singh added to the Uncertain squad.

The data is IN! about the fanbase and popularity of our various cricket teams. Not just the six main regions (who compete in List-A and First Class), or the 12 franchise T20 teams, but also the 12 'local' cricket clubs per main region.

1) Greencaster - the city's large and compact population - as well as claiming the fans of nearby commuter towns that, formally, should be in Western Surbourneshire but aren't (and that's 'just not cricket') makes them the most supported regional team. It helps that young talent keeps coming through for them - evn if they're not currently a main supplier of players to the Test team.

2) Willowbourne - another city team, and the commuter city effect is strong for them as well. Their large and compact population, albeit on a slightly smaller scale than Greencaster, makes them second in the list. Unlike Greencaster, they do have a few players on the national team, but they're not the big names everyone's watching out for.

3) Leeshire - spread out across several major cities, they have the luxury of being able to play in multiple different grounds that are all big enough to sell out for a good number of fans. Ironically, the further you go down the list, the fewer fans are at the matches but the more talent comes through the region. Leeshire has a minor claim to Francophone and Gehrennan players to the north and east, which is their biggest growth project. With White, Stanway, and Douglas, they have a deep batting lineup, especially with Treloar, Dherengun, and Dirhonindhen coming through. No bowling though.

4) East Surbourneshire - playing at both Cirelbourne and Bruncester equally, East Surbourneshire would have been further up in this list several decades ago. As the team from the one shrinking region, they do benefit from a strong regional identity and cricketing history.

5) Mawryshire - sharing games between Mawrystwyth and Llandy, the small peninsula of Mawryshire can't exactly support a huge fanbase. They are fiercely regional, though, with incredible talent that can play under very varying conditions, given the windy and rainy peninsula itself. They do not get rattled. With yChaegrheodd and a handful of under 23s, they are set on talent in the foreseeable future.

6) West Surbourneshire - rural, maybe even pastoral, and with a poor team for years, the only way is up. Small grounds, no matter how picturesque, can't make up for the bad sides. First class cricket is their favourite, with Test captain Marsden from here, as well as brilliant opener Twaddle, and Welsh, Pardey, Palmer, Firembee, and Multherinden... there's a beautiful future here.

T20

1) Greencaster Heralds - The biggest of the two T20 teams of the city of Greencaster, the Heralds are the slightly older team that has gotten support from a larger part of town.
2) Willowbourne Zenith - All of Willowbourne supports this one team, so naturally they pop up early.
3) Greencaster Bears - Most Greencastrians are fans of both teams, to an extent... so the Bears aren't far behind.
4) Mawrystwyth Mustangs - Arguably, the Mustangs are more popular than the first class team. It's a surprise to see them this high, but the region really rallied around them, apparently. Or their sales team is just that good.
5) Eastern Miners - East Surbourneshire has one T20 team, so the Miners get the support from that regional identity, so they're high up as well.
6) Mayara Marauders - T20 cricket is the board's way of experimenting with putting teams in less crickety areas, and the Marauders was the first among them. They've grown out to be a hit, especially to southwestern 'transplants' who now live in the Capitals - of which there are a lot.
7) Idyllwild Antlers - Leeshire's primary team is Idyllwild, and they would be higher, if it weren't for the region being split up so badly.
8) Aubury Maroons - Leeshire's secondary team are the Maroons, behind Idyllwild on city population.
9) Burnet Rubies - Burnet is an interesting one: like the Penstead team below, they're a cricket board compromise between giving the heartland its teams but also putting them in interesting locations, such as the island of Burnet, which is hard to get to for most West Surbourneshirians.
X) Penstead Pirates - Penstead is really far out there, even for Mawryshirians.
=) Linieux Lieutenants - With Mayara and Norille, Linieux is one of the non-cricket cities that got a team regardless. This team hasn't been too widely supported, though.
10) Norille Chevron Vert - Not only is Norille a smaller city, it also doesn't have a cricket history.
