A hungover gentleman with an unfathomable moustache was being interrogated in Pridnestrovian, of which his mastery was swiftly being revealed as less than complete. Harry tried to keep up.

“So this thing you’re looking for: I have it?”

“Yes.”

“And explain again what it is?”

“Well, it’s… very big.”

“Oh, I see! D’you know, I think I know exactly what you’re talking about.”

“Very long.”

“Abso-bally-lutely it is.”

“Very hard.”

“It jolly well is!”

“It is the subject of significant amounts of worship and adoration.”

“Cracking stuff.”

“Even miracles are attributed to it!”

“That thing with the Contessa and her three identical sisters?”

“And it has a double-headed eagle on the tip.”

“Yes quite… wait, what!?”

“Comrade Zoomtwat, what we are asking is… is that an ancient ceremonial sceptre of Saint Bogdan, respelendent icon of the Orthodox Faith and valued national treasure to all Pridnestrovian people everywhere in your pocket, or are you just pleased to see us?”

Harry gave Sid a very confused glance. “I believe they are talking, Master,” the manservant explained patiently. “About this.”

With a casual twirl, Sid produced the Sceptre from behind his back, where he’d been holding it for the last five minutes, having immediately gleaned that the true subject of the UrGa officials’ interest was not, regrettably, what Harry thought it to be.

“The Sceptre of Saint Bogdan!!”

“Oh that old thing. Yes, what of it. Was going to melt it down into a set of golf clubs.”

Even one as aloof as Harry quickly discerned that his intentions were judged to be… less than desirable.

“But no need to get your undergarments all a-twist, dear chap. And chapess, excuse me. What, thinking it’d make a nice going-away present for Taras, hmm?” Harry snorted into his moustache. “Big fan of the going away part. As to the present…” he waved his hand dismissively.

Sid handed over the Sceptre to the UrGa officials.

“Are you sure he wouldn’t prefer a set of golf clubs…?”

The First Half Is Business As Usual

Postby TJUN-ia » Sun Jun 13, 2021 11:11 am

The battle for the championship took centre stage today in Liventia as both Batu Tüvshinbayar and Team Noortekoondis took a back seat for Saturday's race.

Janne Laukkanen took a big win over Skiia Vialiv and Ted Pressley, with Heinz-Otto Junker in 4th overall. That means that while Kaylan won the constructors crown (thinks to Anola Melani's retirement with the fastest lap), the top three in the title hunt will be separated by only 5 points heading into the final Sprint Race of the season.

AS for TN, they will start for the final time in the positions they finished in - with Batu in 17th and Lukas Fichter in 22nd. No matter if this race is the last for this team, Batu will certainly fight for some final points to end this season off with.

For the final time this season, Batu Tüvshinbayar will be ready for anything.
1st: ECC4/5, NSSCRA13, RLWC22, IBS20, EBT3, EIHT2
2nd: NSCF24/26, ARWC4, WC:TOTS, IBC34, IBS17, RUWC33/35, ECC6
3rd: ARWC3, IBC32, ECC3/7, ARWC6, ET20IV
NSSCRA - JR
T1: #07 Michael Stefan (S13 T1 Champ/9W)/#64 Alfonso Mercado (3W)/#03 Maddison Riley-Jones (S10 T2 Champ/2W-T1/3W-T2)
T2: #96 Alice Jepkosgei (3W)/#70 Gongming Gao [NCR] (5W)/#79 Axel Chase

WGPO: #11 Lane Carter (2W)/ #9 Batu Tüvshinbayar (WGP2 S5 Champion/1W)
NSTT: 4 S-Titles (3 RU)/2 D-Titles (6 RU)

UN - U1
TJUN (Ta-Jun) - An organ of the UN that focuses on "international role-play" (i.e. USA = Fang the Sniper) (U2)
TJUN-ia (Ta-Jun-ee-a) - The testing grounds of TJUN members, but operates as an independent nation. (U3)

Post 28 – One More Shot.

At this rate, all Adriana could do and probably hope for is for this Feature Race (and the upcoming Sprint Race) to gave her the experience she needed for the next one. Another pointless finish, 18th placement, 1 lap down. It sort of came as a non-surprise, though she wondered if she would be able to get something out of the Sprint Race tomorrow, especially if the previous race was any indication. Her teammate Astigar was not doing too well either, and there is little to no way that even the 26 points (top plus fastest lap) was going to save her or get her anywhere close to the Top 6, let alone the podium point victory. "Ehh, next season, I suppose."

That is perhaps another thing. The buzz of the next season is already underway - it seemed to be just mostly rumors on when it was exactly going to happen, but Adriana figured that she would want to be as prepared as possible when 19th season of WGPC comes in, not only to readjust her codes, but because she knew that the championship would attract better drivers.

"I mean, what else do you want me to say," Adriana thought to herself, trying to give more of a speech or add on to the debrief, but came up shorthanded, "I failed again, no point win, I don't think I have much to say to all of us here. We are getting close to the very end of the season, and the only hope is for us to do better for the next season, be it WGPC or WGP2."

Then came out the words that she would say to the team: "Well, all the best! Today was... not too good, but hey, we could snag some points for Sprint tomorrow. I don't know, I feel like practicing, but I suppose I should only do that for an hour before resting, you know what I mean?"

With her 18th starting position for the Sprint Race, this was going to be a tall order to finish with even a single point.

WGP2 Neverend Challenge - Feature Race
"Why doesn't it taste nice."

"It's just horrible." Raiko says in a disappointed tone after Hakusoe and Rikikida finished P9 and P19 respectively. "We were so close, just a more laps." As he rests his read on the desk followed by a few seconds of silence. Okay, calm down. There's still tomorrow's race. Come guys. He lifts his head to see the team working as usual, and Martjen approaching him.

"You good?"

"These results kept giving me headaches. I think I'm still alright today. Well, there's still tomorrow, the final race, better prepare for that."

"Yeah, we went ahead started work on both of the cars in preparation for tomorrow. Orel is with the mechanics and I'm about to have a talk with our drivers."

"Wow, seems like you don't need me here haha."

"Haha, we still need a great leader like you, you persuaded them to create a WGP2 team."

"Yeah, thanks."

....

"Right, back to work."

Martjen then leaves for the drivers with Raiko staying there for a bit, just takes a look around the garage, watching the team working hard.

It's just amazing that we've come this far without breaking, there's still hope for the team. For the future, there's something good will happen to us, it's just uncertain when. All I know is that we are fine from the start. "Seven times we fall, for the eighth we rise forever." The story that keeps popping up to me over and over now. I finally know what it means.

Raiko straightens up, takes a sip of coffee before joining the crew on their work, trying to help out as much as he can to finish the season positively. There's still a chance.

Starting P13, Laura was confident with the new setup, it was something different although she still had to adjust, Laura managed to break through the top 10 in the first few laps, it was looking promising. Then a sudden transmission from the pit wall at lap 8. "Alright Laura, Artur came up with a new plan. Erik says to Laura.

"Let's hear it."

"Copy that. Within we're going to pit earlier than usual and into mediums. Trust Artur on this."

"Understood, I trust him all the time."

"You're allowed to push as hard as you can for this stint."

"Alright."

Laura opens up the throttle, pushing as hard as possible, closing the gap to the front. With precision, she pilots her car through the corners while on the limit early on. She does this for a few laps and to her surprise, the tyres are still holding up even with the hard driving. What the-- they knew it, huh.

It was now time to pit, as she enters the pitlane, Erik comes on the radio and tells Laura. "We're expected to finish P5 or P6 hence Artur's plan. We will be doing the same to Indra, don't worry." As the mechanics do their work flawlessly, changing into the mediums quick, Laura was out in no time. "Good luck, we'll update you on the plan if there are any changes."

She trusts her team a lot, in return, she aims for the results that they want. And now it's time to deliver once more.

"How are the tyres?"

"They're holding up, surprisingly."

"Alright, I consulted Artur, conserve the tyres for a bit. Mode 5. Mode 5."

"Got it."

Managing the mediums well while still comfortably holding onto P7. Lap 34, two more positions were gained after going on the offensive to take P6 and eventually P5. Unfortunately, danger looms behind with Joy Wingelaar coming in hot. The two battle for lap after lap for P5, it was an intense duel. Laura, not backing down, takes an aggressive stance to defend her stay in P5. They almost touch in the heat of the battle as the race draws to an end. As the chequered flag is waved, the two were milliseconds apart but Laura was the one ahead. That's another eight points in the bag.

"Great work Laura! That's P5!"

"That was close! Haha! I loved that battle!"

"It was an entertaining one for sure, we were on the edge of our seats!"

"Glad you guys liked it!"

Hearing Aldaurens response, her face shines with a smile, she was happy to hear it. And to answer his question, she excitedly lets out an enthusiastic "Yes!"

"Tough day Haru but that P14 landed you a pole start for tomorrow."

"Hopefully my luck will be good tomorrow we don't want to waste that P1 start. Don't worry, I'm not giving up that easily, the encouragement from the team was enough to keep me going."

"Let's work on it tomorrow!"

"You're now starting to sound like my friend, Kraine. I'm fine with it. I'm actually happy."

"Well then, shall I continue?"

"To an extent, yes. Don't go too far with it."

"Understood."

Golden Park Circuit Feature Race
Neverend, Liventia

Tragedy rarely strikes over a long period of time.

She was having one of the best races this season so far - up to P5, getting close to Junker, about to put an exclamation point on her rookie season racing internationally. All the pit stops had been clean, Vladimir was feeding her the best information about the field around her, and with Ted being not too far behind, it seemed that victory was within reach for Kaylan emphatically... and she had a chance for the best finish in the Feature Race in her career.

Then, the front right tire on Anola's car... Just exploded. Blew into smithereens, and it took all of her strength and composure to stop the car from hitting anything else. Thankfully, she was able to coast it out of the field of the race so that she wouldn't cause any problems for anyone else. Sitting there, in her #11 car, suffering the first DNF of her WGPC career (technically a finish as she had completed over 90% of the laps), all Anola could do was stew in her feelings.

Vladimir's words about encouragement and condolences and the people of Kaylan celebrating the Constructors' Championship - Ted had finished in third, while TMW had both finished behind him - all fell on deaf ears. She feigned smiles and shook hands, but her spirit was far from the celebratory mood. She felt like she didn't deserve to be in the celebrations - not yet. No, she had one more race to commit to, to try to make up for the error that she had committed today.

Starting from twenty-sixth place was going to be a steep challenge. That being said, she'd passed nine people before on a Sprint Race - surely there was a chance, right?

As she started doing all the calculations, Vladimir stopped by and put a gentle hand on her shoulder.

"Will you just take a moment?" he asked gently. When she didn't respond, he turned her around.

"This happens to everyone. It was just unlucky it happened to us on the final Feature Race. Sure, Ted did well, but your consistency has been a major reason why Kaylan is winning the Championship this season, and nobody will refute that... Except maybe yourself."

"I just feel like, at the moment where I was needed the most, I let everyone down," admitted Anola quietly, "And I'm going to make up for it by scoring points from twenty-sixth place on the starting block. We've done well on Sprints - I have no doubt that we can pull it off."

"That would be something indeed, right?" joked Vladimir, "I will help you all that I can, but you have to be kinder to yourself. You deserve your part in the celebrations - you should acknowledge that. This never die mentality? I'm all for it. We're going to make a heck of a run for it tomorrow and see if the rest of the field can keep up. Regardless, though? You've had a heck of a season, and you need to congratulate yourself for that. A top five finish is not a joke, and this will only be the starting point of your career."

She looked at him sheepishly. "I get what you're trying to do," she answered, "And I appreciate you trying. After tomorrow, we'll celebrate, all right? I just hate the feeling of unfinished business, and this has just left a bad taste in my mouth. I can do better, and I will. We can reminisce afterwards."

Vladimir held his hands up in defeat. "When the moment passes by, there is no returning to it," he answered, "But all right. If you want to work on an evening where we won the title, I'll enable you."

One race left.

Neverend, Liventia

Janne shuts his eyes and cocks his head up to face the warm sky, as the Abovian anthem echoes throughout a circuit for the fourth time in a season. He's already processed, but shut away, all the rave that Antti had fed into him at the race's end. How he'd been phenomenal from start to finish, at how brilliant his move had been on Ted, on how masterfully he'd conserved his tyres up until the very last corner, and the fact that, with his win, he'd become the Abovian driver to score the most victories in a single season.

But none of the glory quite mattered to him, not yet at least. Little would matter until the final lap of the sprint race.

His victory had been sensational, a clutch result coming in at just the right time, but it hadn't been quite enough to let him breathe easily. From the podium celebrations now to the same moment within twenty-four hours, he'd have a single thing on his mind.

The title—his first, after three years of trying—is the closest to his grasp that it has ever been, and all the nice-guy happy ending energy he'd brought with him to Liventia has disappeared entirely. And he's fine with that.

It's a dilemma he's carried all his life, his attempts at striking a balance between modesty and selfishness always leaning in favor of the former. He loves to consider himself a kind, compassionate person—genuinely, not trying to trick himself into believing so—but frequently at the expense of his own gratification.

Thus, without consciously planning on doing so, he's not going to play nice. He'd thought of having a warm chat with Ted between races, as a form of apologizing for his bluntness in Nekoni—but how could he honestly wish him "all the best" when he was standing right below him on the penultimate podium of the year? How could he promise Heinz that, whatever happened, he'd be happy for the both of them? It wasn't exactly true!

The final three notes of the anthem round off the song with a triumphant series of deep bangs, the last drawn out and ending abruptly. Applause and cheers erupt below him as the podium ceremony moves towards the champagne shower.

He's not celebrating until it's all over.

Nexus Racing HQ, Crossbay Circuit, Nimbus Bay, the Nexus Wardship of Former Citizens of the Nimbus System
WGP2 Neverend Challenge, Feature Race, Post-Race; 12th of June

“And Janne Laukkanen wins in Liventia!”

Nexus Racing’s garage blazed into uproar, cheers and laughter cascading throughout before the inevitable charge to the pit lane to hail and welcome their conquering hero. The Abovian leapt from his car, then lifted his head atop the podium… His was a determination now, a momentum, one of such contrast to the suppressed tension of his champion rival standing beside him – and the Janne of the past.

“Ryker?”

Ryker blinks, sitting up from the bed to see Victoria dressed for sleep, a quiet, vaguely amused smile upon her face and her arms crossed. “You make the most adorable expression when you zone out, you know that?”

He blushes. “Well, if it makes you happy…” Ryker answers her smile with his own, yet quieter. “Just recalling earlier today.”

“Calling it now: he’s going to win.”

“If you have anything to do with it he certainly will.”

Victoria laughs. “I’ll give it my best shot.” She paces round to her own side of the bed. “You’re thinking about it again, aren’t you?”

He takes a breath, then nods. “Gertrude’s pushed it back by a year but it’s still the same thing. Now there’s just the added complication of effectively racing Jean for a seat the next time around…” He scrunches his eyes shut. “Imagination, ‘Toria. I don’t want to do that. He’s been my teammate for, what, three years now?”

Ryker shakes his head sadly, leaning back down. Victoria curls up alongside him, wrapping him in a hug that’s just firm enough to be secure, comforting, saying nothing. Her hair comes to rest alongside Ryker’s hand; he takes a strand of it, drawing it through his fingers.

“I’m not unhappy for him,” he continues, after anywhere from a moment to an age. “Whatever happens tomorrow, it’ll be great to see Janne in the WGPC after so much time – he deserves it, deserves more, even… And I’m not angry at Gertrude, either. This is a good call, just… You can’t please everyone, I guess. This is the way it’ll be, however much…” He trails off, not sure what to say.

“Luvvvvbb…”

Ryker turns his head as he bears witness to the rising and falling breath of a Victoria on the edge of sleep, the effort of the past few days finally catching up to her and drawing her to the precipice. His smile is fuller this time. “Well. We can deal with that after the weekend, when this is all decided. Not mine and Jean’s chapter in the story again, not just yet… Thanks.” He lets his head sink back into the pillow, closing his eyes.

Moved from somewhere in the last recesses of his mind, he opens them again briefly, leaning forward to press a kiss to Victoria’s brow. She hums.

“I love you, too.”

Vilaye EnergySport fast at Gold Park Circuit

Feature Race, Gold Park Circuit, Neverend, Liventia :: While Vilaye EnergySport Grand Prix duo Skiia Vialiv and Jama'obo Pegasii came into the World Grand Prix 2 race weekend at the Gold Park Circuit in Neverend, Liventia with very little left to fight for in the standings, having each been eliminated from contention from the drivers championship just as the Vilaye EnergySport Grand Prix Team had from the Constructors Championship - they still managed to put in a superb performance in the Gold Park Feature. Despite a sub par showing in qualifying with Vialiv half a second slower than pole sitter Joy Wingelaar in 10th place on the grid and Pegasii taking the start from the second to last row in 26th place, both Vialiv and Pegasii quickly worked their way through to the front of the pack and in points-scoring positions.

Vialiv would fight through the pack improving 9 positions to lead the 'best of the rest' at a distance 23 seconds behind race winner Janne Laukkanen who themselves would get into position for a big day in the Spring by closing the gap in the Drivers Standings to just 3 points as three different drivers - Heinz-Otto Junker, Ted Pressley and Janne Laukkanen are overall separated by just five total points and will start the Sprint Race in Liventia 11th, 12th and 14th respectively with each knowing they will need to not only defeat the other but in some cases by multiple spots in order to earn enough points to claim the title.

The one driver separating the championship drivers on the grid will be Vialiv taking the start in 13th position, earned through her runner-up finish in the Gold Park Feature. It was the fourth runner-up finish of the season for the Rookie driver of Vilaye EnergySport Grand Prix's #14 Vilaye Energy Drink / Nykipiflugpuu Tourism and Sporting Board - most of all drivers on the World Grand Prix Circuit. If not for three retirements and seven straight finishes outside the points either side of the mid-season break for the World Grand Prix 2 circuit, Vialiv might have found herself right in the middle of the championship battle with Junker, Laukkanen and Pressley. The Vilitan rookie will enter the finale knowing she can finish no higher than 4th in the Drivers Standings but no lower than 5th. Anola Melani, the only driver who could pass Vialiv in the overall standings will be starting the race over 10 places on the grid behind Vialiv so the rookie knows if she can keep Melani behind her she will finish 4th in points.

Vialiv's teammate Jama'obo Pegasii was a nominee for Driver of the Day in the Feature after improving 19 positions on the grid for a 7th place result in the feature, making it just the second time during the World Grand Prix 2 season that both Vialiv and Pegasii finished inside the points. It will put Pegasii in the best position to secure Vilaye EnergySport's first World Grand Prix 2 victory as the #87 Vilaye Roast machine will take the grid 7th for the Sprint behind a series of cars that Pegasii was much faster than during the Feature event.

Pegasii enters the race 13th in the drivers standings but could still mathematically break into the Top 10 with a victory at the Gold Park Circuit. Regardless of the final result, it will have to be marked as a disappointing season for Jama'obo Pegasii who finished third in the World Grand Prix 2 Season 3 standings as was one of the betting favorites to challenge for the championship at the start of the season. A lack of pre-season testing with the new Mertagne GP team from Sierra Grand may have cost the veteran - taking a ride that Pegasii was forced into after sponsorship conflicts on other teams during a World Grand Prix 2 Season with numerous sponsorships from Energy Drink suppliers in the paddock. Vialiv and Pegasii will hit the track as teammates one last time in search of a Victory with Vialiv seeming to have a bright future in motorsports while Pegasii will be battling to prove they could still compete at this level after a campaign with just two podium finishes thus far.

As Janne Laukannen flew through the Gold Park circuit in the final sprint race, some Diarcesians who are newly-minted fans of him chanted loudly.

Joly-was-that-not-Janne! Joly-was-that-not-Janne!
Janne Laukannen, fastest driver in the multiverse!

Meanwhile, in PB-Viska, while they missed one of their goals to be the best team using the Preston Skychief V6, they were able to hit important milestones. One: win the Elbej feature race. Two: beat VSK.

What does the future hold for them?

And so, TJUN-ia's 2nd WGP2 ends just like its first - with its driver questioning everything that he stands for.

His final race ended in 19th with Lukas down in 24th, a perfect way to show how this season has gone for Team Noortekoondis this season. Harry Zoomtwat took the final race of this season over Skiia Vialiv and Heinz-Otto Junker, which was enough for the driver from Siovanija and Teusland to claim this season's crown.

At the end of it all, Batu may have single-handedly killed this proud racing unit as rumours of an auction are on the horizon.

Now, he doesn't know what to do at all. He will certainly be aiming for next season, would anyone want a "teamkiller" in their ranks?

He thought about Lane Carter, about how he felt as he left UrGa in disgrace before he rose like a phoenix in the WGPC. Could Batu rise up like him though? He didn't really know.

He is Batu Tüvshinbayar, the killer of Noortekoondis through his driving ability, and another example of TJUN-ia's woes in this sport. He will be happy with any drive next season but, as he watches the sunset with tears in his eyes, he doesn't really know if he even deserves one.

He's Shinebaishin's own but is he really doing them proud? He doesn't really know...

He may never know.

If anything, He's sorry for Kaidi - he killed her team through no fault of his own. Can she ever truly forgive him? He wouldn't.

No one would forgive this man for even racing for TJUN-ia at all. Maybe, one day, he can be their man, but for now...he is just his own.

Who would want someone like him? Who knows at this point...

Kaylan Racing Team HQ
Tushlark, Togonistan

''Please, come on in,'' Ralph Felan said as he heard a knock on the door. He was sitting in a conference room with other board members of Kaylan Motors, with whom he had just discussed the latest news regarding their motorsports division. Obviously, the news about Kaylan's WGP2 constructors title had spread like wildfire. Sports channels kept on rambling about the feat the team had achieved and upon landing in the airport, masses of fans and journalists were there to greet the teams arrival back home.

''Greeting gentlemen,'' Xander nod as he opened the door and stepped in, ''you wished to see me?''

''Ah, hello there Xander. Please, take a seat,'' Ralph pointed at an empty chair and waited for Xander to sit down before continuing, ''so, we just discussed the work you have put in over the course of the season. First of all, of course, huge congratulations! You must feel quite thrilled about it, eh?''

Xander smiled slightly and nod, ''Thank you. I just did my job, that's all.''

''And you did it quite damn well,'' Ralph looked at Xander deep in the eyes, ''I believe I don't have to say that we're all very pleased. WGP2 title, engine deals, prize money... not only has this year so far been productive in the terms of results, but also in terms of revenue. Car sales have risen by 20 percent, the Kaylan brand is on it's way to the top, taking in a spot amongst other well established constructors on the world scale.''

Xander didn't even know what to say about all this. He just stood there, nodding awkwardly, waiting for Ralph to continue.

''I must say, there were some doubts if you will be able to handle it. We admit it. But you, my friend, proved us all wrong.''

''I'm just glad you gave me the opportunity. I can't stress enough though that it was a team effort. I couldn't have done it if I didn't have the capable staff with me. They all gave a hundred and ten percent all the time.''

''Of course,'' Ralph nod and took a sip of coffee, ''I believe I speak for all of us when I say that the whole team has been nothing but quality. Which bring us to our next question... would you like to continue working with us? Working on what you, them and we have built together?''

''Absolutely, I would love to.''

Ralph nod, ''Then we have another task for you.''

''I'm listening.''

''We want you to go, pack your things and leave,'' Ralph made a brief pause and smiled, ''to go on a vacation. Same applies for the rest of your staff. You all truly deserve it.''

Xander looked at people behind the table, ''For how long?''

''As long as needed. Don't worry, we will keep in touch and call you when we need you again. There will be new challenges awaiting for you, you can bet on that.''

Xander nod, ''I'll be looking forward to that.''

Ralph and Xander both stood up and shook hands. ''I will see you again soon. In the meantime, enjoy your break. Spend some time with family, I'm sure they are waiting for you already.''

Xander nod, ''Thank you, I will do that.''

The two men let go of their grip and Xander moved towards the door. With a feeling of calmness in his chest, he grabbed the handle and pushed the door open. Walking down the hallway, Xander made his way to his office. He took some time to clean it up, packed whatever he might need and eventually made his way out again. Walking down the stairs into the reception area, he couldn't help but think about these past months he had spent with the team. Memories of the time spent together, travelling all around the world. All the hype that had been surrounding the season, all the nights he had spent in motorhomes or hotel rooms. Finally, he could go home, spend time with his children, fall asleep in his own bed with his lovely wife by his side, knowing that once the morning comes, he wouldn't need to rush and catch yet another flight. Once he had stepped out of the HQ, he turned around and took one last look at the building. Freshly cleaned glass windows were sparkling in the sunlight as sounds of car engines revving in the garage complex further away were heard in the background. Xander took a deep breath and left the HQ behind, made his way to his car in the parking lot and drove off. He will be back.

Post 29 – Until Next Time.

It is all over. Adriana is more or less done. She slowly guided her car back into the garage, then getting out swiftly and running over to the scoreboard. 18th, 1 lap down. Final standings: 11th. "Hmph, not bad! Though you know, 10th would not be too bad. Ehh, this is way better than WGPC 18, I am sure of it." And of course, she also looked at the other names on the scoreboard: Junker, Janne, Ted; she was familiar with Janne, but for the other two, having them constantly topping out the results have definitely made their names known, and they will definitely be known in the annals of time. She did a slow clap for everyone involved, offering handshakes and hugs of genuine friendship to the others around her - at least those who were either not at the podium or were looking at the scoreboard just like her.

Throughout all of these, Adriana felt a genuine moment of satisfaction. Sure, she definitely could have done a lot better, but she still felt accomplished that she saw through the end of the season without blunders. Awfully average other than the first two Feature Races, but still average nonetheless instead of constantly totaling her car. She walked slowly and proudly back into the garage of Fireline, to which she and Astigar have been greeted and cheered on by the team. "Congratulations for seeing this through the end, you guys! And thanks for sticking with us!" the person in-charge spoke out, "With that, I would like to present each of you with a personalized gift."

Both Adriana and Astigar got themselves a die-cast metal car, 1:20 scale. Not just any die-cast car from the toy store in the corner, but a genuinely heavy and well-made car that is personalized for either one of them. Adriana's one, in particular, is the exact model of the car that she drove, along with a little female person wearing the Fireline uniform on the stand. The plaque also has her full name (in 2-3 lines), along with a little Polish phrase: "Dzięki za wszystko, co zrobiłeś. (Thanks for all you've done.)" She was also told that she can keep the firesuit and the helmet that she was wearing, along with a couple of other stuff in a goodie bag. Adriana gleefully looked at the little car, along with the other stuff that was given to her. Her circuits felt a little warmer at that moment, processing all of the emotions, mainly happiness, that was passing through her systems. "Ohh, you guys. Thank you for everything. These are all very lovely!"

Of course, there were also personalized gifts from a few people in particular, which would also apply to Astigar and the team that was under them. For Adriana, Percy got her an USB drive containing the history and some exclusive (but not sensitive) media of Fireline team, with the said USB drive also in the shape of a little purple flame with orange outlines. As for Jane, she got her a couple of smartphone covers, along with small little chibi charms that can be put just about anywhere. "Thank you again, you guys. You are all amazing as well! I would love to take you out for dinner as well if you guys are all right with that! I mean, if you guys are free as well, hehe."

The dinner would then come and went, with the Fireline team sharing their experience with one another both on the track and in the garages. Adriana definitely got a lot more experience and insight about the team, and for that particular moment, she felt even more right at home. They might have faltered here and there, but there is no doubt that Fireline has been nothing but kind to her, and that Adriana is more than willing to repay that by constantly working for them as much as they can. Even if they are looking for some other talent down the line, she will never forget the pleasantries and the amazing experience that she got from driving for them, even if it was just for two seasons so far.

Eventually, it was time for Adriana and Angela to depart back to Valentine Z, through the transdimensional gate that they were going to open up 47.39 light minutes away (~850 million km) from this particular Earth. "Well, it has been very, very nice," Adriana said again, trying her best not to repeat the same words, "It's... surreal, if I say so myself. I didn't think we will make it through, but here we are, you know? We were not exactly the best, but I am just glad it did not happen just like in WGPC 18. Thanks again, and I really do hope I will see you guys again next season, whatever the future might hold. I am not taking it with certainty, but we shall see. Być dobrze i do zobaczenia wkrótce!"

Slowly walking back to her plane and giving the team one last look, she closed the door, sitting beside Angela in the pilot cockpit. "Home?" Angela asked cheerfully, whom also bought a few souvenirs for herself and for the Valentians from the cities and countries that they have landed on. "Tak, home indeed!" Firing off the engines as they got the clearance, Adriana and Angela took off first into the air, then flying deeper and deeper into space until they reached their point of interest.

As for what the future might hold - be it WGP2 V, or WGPC 19, Adriana would not know. What she know, however, is that she is going to be more than ready when this rolls over, with Jenny being able to help her reconfigure some of her codes.

"I was thinking," Angela said at that moment, "Do you think I would make a good Formula racer as well?"

Adriana gave a bit of a look, but not the one of doubt; she was surprised by that, seeing how Angela did not seem to be the one to go for racing. Still, perhaps it was because of the adrenaline and excitement from VRSCR.

"Of course! Maybe you might get into a team yourself if you want to!"

"Awesome! Adriana and Angela, two Valentian ladies for Formula!"

When she woke up that morning, she knew that something was off. There was a dull pain at the base of her left elbow. It wasn't sharp nor demanding, but it was present.

She did not mention it to Vladimir. She didn't want him to worry, and she was absolutely adamant that she was going to finish this race. Even while starting in twenty-sixth place, she believed that she would finish in the points, as she had done all season long in Sprint Races.

After icing it and making sure it was well massaged, she got on the track.

What followed was one of the best races of her career, until the last lap. She had passed fourteen cars according to Vladimir, which meant that she was in twelfth place and definitely in the points.

Rounding the final turn, trying to make sure she was fending off the car behind her, the world spun for Anola as she felt something in her left elbow pop.

She barely hung onto the wheel as she managed to finish the race, in thirteenth place. She missed out on scoring on every Sprint Race by one placing. The Kaylan medical team was able to pop her elbow back in, but she would need surgery as soon as she landed on Chromatika.

The final meeting with Xander was congratulatory and cordial. Her last conversation with Ted was full of hope and mutual acknowledgement. Vladimir promised to keep in touch and stay hopeful that they would work together again someday.

As she got on the plane to take her back home, she got a call from her agent, Rhianni Gea.

"I got your surgery scheduled," came the voice of her agent, "And then you're going to be a busy bee as you recover."

"What do you mean?" inquired Anola, "It's an offseason for a reason."

"Oh, it's not that strenuous," insisted Rhianni, "Just some interviews, a camp about motorsports, and few appearances on camera. You're famous now, Anola. And we wouldn't want your hard work to not contribute to motorsports at home, right?"

There was a stunned silence, then a small yet confident reply:

"Right. See you then."

The WGP2 season was over, but the rest of Anola's career - and her life - awaited. She was excited to see what would come next. She would meet it head on, with confidence and with her newly found friends.

The team had come to the pit wall to wave Saki home for her 5th place finish; the Scuderia would climb up to 10th in the constructors standings after earning 52 points over the final three weekends. Most of the goodbyes and celebratory stuff had been dealt with prior to the final day, so it was really just a race as to how fast the team could pack up to head home after the checkered flag.

Sakite and Pedro would be heading straight back to their home nations, and Michael Lambert arranged that they and Jordan Crowe ride with him to the airport.

"I cannot begin to express my gratitude, admiration and appreciation to all three of you for everything you've done. It was a huge leap of faith on the part of all of us from the start, and you will certainly be venerated by this team as long as I'm in charge of it. Regardless of how things play out from here--and I'm sorry I can't make any promises right now about the future--if any of you ever need anything, don't hesitate to call me."

"Thank you Mike, for taking a chance on me...and I'm sure they agree", Pedro spoke up first. "You put together a group of people that were so supportive, so eager to do whatever they could to give us a shot at doing our jobs. Saki and I have talked about how we, as outsiders, were pulled straight into the closeness of the team. All those folks who showed up for the post-quali thing we did on Friday at the Vale, they didn't care where we came from but that we were in Baker Park, representing a Baker Park team and sponsors, and that made us one of them."

Saki nodded then made her point. "I still am not convinced that this isn't some dream." The others laughed. "I've learned so much, about myself, about a culture and people I not only knew nothing about, but didn't even have the curiosity to do the most basic research on. Yet the more people I met, the more I had normal, everyday interactions with everyone in this country, the more guilty I felt about not taking the time to gain a basic knowledge. Everything here is so alien to Hodori, and Nekoni normalcy, I've spent most of my time away from the factory trying to understand what's what, and I'm indebted to Hella for helping me to do that."
