Rinzi Zakhilwal thought the dashcam footage of Chuck Harvey throwing himself at Drake's car was hilarious, and he went around showing it to all the other Sherpalanders -- drivers, crews, and even a few Beihua cameramen.

Some Sherpa racing fans posted pictures of Kai Qiang in drag accompanied by messages like, "Hey, Nancy, I found a picture of Frank's girlfriend," and replies like, "She's definitely hotter than you."

Qiang debated whether it was worth commenting on, but decided no. Reacting might just draw more attention to the posts.

Out on the track at the Anderscroggin Fairgrounds, Rinzi and Qiang did all right, but Tsering got knocked around. After some bumping and banging, she found herself struggling with a loose car and dropping back. Rinzi would have had a realistic chance of picking up a second win if he didn't get dumped by Liangmei Li with 4 laps to go. He hung on for a respectable 6th place finish, but he was still ticked off at Li. "She's not even in the Chase and she still thinks she's the queen of the damn track," Rinzi grumbled after the race.

As people were milling about and packing up their things, Rinzi came up behind Qiang and ruffled his hair. "Hey, Qiangkaibo..."

As usual, Qiang swatted his hand away. "Rinzi, what did I fucking tell you..."

"Haha, we should team up with the cocoabos and gang up on Li."

"Pff! Who cares about Li? She does more modeling and advertising than actual racing nowadays. I had to stop collecting Newmanistanian lingerie catalogs because of her."

Qiang had finished 12th, which was good enough to keep him above the cut line for this round of the Chase, but just barely. With 12 very good drivers competing for 8 spots in the next round, the pressure was on, and Qiang didn't want to be distracted by some stupid feud with Liangmei Li.

The Gardeners – 1st Tier: Anderscroggin Fairgrounds, Delano, Xanneria (Short Track); 2nd Tier: Galliburton Motorsports Park, West Haven, Xanneria (Speedway)

"Well, that was quite a blunder..." Jolyn and Holly thought to themselves, looking at each other in confusion on what went wrong this time. Unlike Gwen, both of them did not exactly have a bad history with Short Tracks. In fact, the latter, Holly, would fare slightly better at it because of the slower average speed along the laps. So what was the exact reason?

"Hmm, maybe luck just wasn't on our side this race," Holly mused, recalling that one incident where she nearly DNFed because her hand got caught in her car's moving part. Getting her hand shredded, or having some degree of body gore was a complete non-problem due to the nature of her body. However, the non-problem was only for her, as when her hand got caught in that shaft, the vehicle froze and sputtered, unable to handle the sudden temperature changes brought about by Holly's arm. The pit crew was able to repair her car and ensured that the parts were not suffering from temperature stresses, but the remainder of the race had Holly trying her best to baby her car.

Holly Aurora Lapia Starlight (#55): Oh dear, I don't even know how it was possible. I am not injured, but the car certainly took the toll from my temperatures.
Adriana Ela Kowalski Lillian (#55, C): Haha, hey don't worry about it. These things happen from time to time. Sorry about the results though, you will get it next time.

Jolyn Maxine Helen Ceeta (#76): I swear, Genki, these vehicles were damn everywhere and I could not get past a good lot of them.
Genki Travis Lee Zhuān Jiā (#76, C): Yeah, copy that. We saw a lot of traffic in front of you after your pits. Tried our best to look for the clear route for you, we couldn't. Sorry, we can do better.
Jolyn Maxine Helen Ceeta (#76): Ahh, no worries. There's always next race, and next season. I am just making a small comeback for this season, anyway.

In the meantime, being an avid listener of international news, Jolyn caught wind of the happenings across the other countries. She knew about what happened in Ceroat and was completely private about it, save from talking to some members of The Sixty here and there. Marcus and Valentijn would be the ones who take more interest in such a matter, but until something happens or that they are needed, they figured that the Valentians should not interfere. And then another news came in the form of Hapilopper, Jolyn browsing through the channels on her international TV set.

"Chuck Harvey was arrested at the Bronson house," she said, reading out along to the news as the other Valentians were sitting and watching quietly in the safety and comfort of their planes. The dashcam footage made it a bit more lighthearted, but it was more than obvious that the Valentians were rather concerned about the matters at hand, especially one for the Hapilopperians because of the friendship between the two nations.

"Wow, that's... I want to say that is a bit hilarious just because of the footage alone, but that is heavy," Valentijn remarked, sitting down together with the rest of the Valentians on a rare moment that the two tiers were racing in the same country.

"Remember what I said about talking to others!" Jolyn chimed in, keeping herself reserved, "Though yeah, I would try to be cautious because this definitely goes deeper than you would think. Maybe you can mention it in the passing, but remember not to make it sound like you are a busybody."

"But what would you even talk about to them? I mean sure, you can talk and ask them about the race... and then the transition to that? Would be a little abrupt, though?" Anastasia asked, looking down at the friends that she has dwarfed because she grew back to her original size.

"Yeah, that's also the thing. I mean, normally it would sound like we have too much intelligence over people, but I mean, it was literally on Hapilopper TV, so I am sure they would not mind if you ask them a little bit here and there. We are genuinely concerned, after all."

"Hmm, that makes sense to me," Anastasia nodded as she slowly walked back into her room, lying down and sleeping it off for the night. Jolyn walked over to Marcus to talk a bit more about the current affairs alongside Valentijn, while Holly joined Gwen for a conversation about their recent relative failures - how they are not performing up to their standards. There is also news about Jamie leaving the Valentians to make her way for the Rumble in The Rice Fields, for the thrill of racing alongside in another race that the Sherpa Empire has set up.

Badai Angin Tim to enter 2 cars with Rusty Motorsport in the Rumble in the Rice Fields
Official Press Release

YOGYAKULTA - Badai Angin Tim Motorsport (BA Tim) will collaborate with Rustom Ibuna's Rusty Motorsports to send their representatives to the Rumble in the Rice Fields in Plum Lake Circuit. Cars for both of the two entries will be prepared by Rusty Motorsports, with factory and crew support from BA Tim. Both cars, #0, and #71, will be running Solymok Megfogo ST tyres.

Car #0 will be driven by FISCAR regular Mercy Binayas, will be driving next season in the NSSCRA main series, driving one of the three full-time teams for BA Tim next season. #0 will be sponsored by Girls Will Code / Descension and Orion Company, her sponsor in FISCAR and her entries in the Everlong Contenders' Series. As the team and crew to be used is the one she is using at the Everlong Series, Katana Racing will be operating the #0 car for Tadashi Mitsubishi in Appalachia.

Car #71 will be driven by current WGPC driver and owner of Rusty Motorsport, Rustom "Rusty" Ibuna, making his stock car debut. The car will be sponsored by Telebuenas MotoMo'To! and John T. Cole. Both cars (primary and backup) will be donated to IRACT after the race.

Subject: Offer to drive for Badai Angin Tim Motorsport for NSSCRA 11

Good day! This is Werner Ragos, President of Team Operations for Badai Angin Tim Motorsport.

Badai Angin Tim Motorsport (BA Tim) is Filindostan's premier team in motorsport, whether it be WGPC or NSSCRA. The organization have started racing in NSSCRA since its eighth edition and this season, one of our two full time teams made into the playoffs for the first time in our participation. We are targeting both our drivers to finish within the top 20 this season so that we can start next season with motivation and better outlook with opening up a support team based in Aji No Moto.

We are inquiring for your availability to drive the #0 car currently driven by Hana Bhe for next season. We are not aware of the contract details you currently have with Rocket Motorsport but if you are available and willing to switch rides for next season, kindly let us know by the end of the Round of 12 if you are agreeing to drive for us next season. Whatever team you are assigned in our organization will bear the priority charter for BA Tim for next season.

Please keep this email as confidential as we do not want this offer to make it public yet. We'd like to hear from you soon. Thanks!

The GFR trio did decently in Xanneria: Sage Caldwell in tenth, Thea Alvarez in thirteenth and Jeremiah Brooke in fourteenth. For Caldwell, a non-Chaser with nothing to lose, this was fine, but for the other two, it was simply not enough. Brooke found himself barely above the cut line after the race, tied with his girlfriend Stacie Houston on points but with the tiebreaker on wins. Alvarez, on the other hand, was among the four drivers in danger of being eliminated. The thing is, they can't afford to be just good when pretty much the rest of the playoff cast, especially the Valentians, are doing great. So they stepped up their training, even waking up earlier and going to bed later, and focusing on little else. (Brooke still called Houston though, but not as often, as he knew she was also doing everything she could to get out of her hole.)

Meanwhile, in St. Kanye, Skip Stiller was browsing the internet at his office in his racing school when saw an article about the third annual Rumble at the Rice Fields that is happening soon in the Sherpa Empire. Like the Lao Long 380 before it, GFR once again had no one to send; two of their prospects were still in the hunt for the Everlong Series championships, and the third is now driving for the North Chinese.

"If they won't do it, why don't I do it?" Stiller thought to himself. He may have been retired from NSSCRA competition, but he can't deny that sometimes he misses being behind the wheel of a Chadwick and making thousands of left turns at two hundred or so miles per hour. He wants to get back on the track, climb into a car, just have fun. He didn't even care about getting the grand prize of an open charter for the race in North China - all he really wants is the fun.

But what about his family, the reason Stiller retired from the NSSCRA in the first place? Oh, they wouldn't need to be apart while he's doing this, as he'll be taking them with him. A call to his wife later, and the whole thing is a go. Maryanne Stiller turned out to be way more considerate than a certain N. Bronson, agreeing to Skip's plans for three reasons: because he promised it will only be that one race, because she hasn't been to any foreign countries aside from bleak New Northwesteros, and because she really wants to see for herself if Sherpaland is as beautiful as Stiller makes it out to be, in the stories that he tells her about racing there.

Max Gannon, highly popular and equally highly controversial radio host, had just wrapped up his show To The Max. In today's episode, he talked to a caller who believed Noriyasu Nagai was alive because she swore she saw him as an extra in a Vylet commercial; about possible reasons, legal and illegal, for the Valentian NSSCRA team's sudden dominance this season; about why WGPC mainstays Nexus Racing should consider joining the NSSCRA; and most importantly, that he'll be back in good old S-H-Dub for the Rumble. Despite being retired from the Kanyean top tier for many years, Gannon can still drive very well, even taking his collection of classic cars for a spin around the countryside twice a month; the only difference from his days as a racer is that now he needs a pair of thick glasses. Gannon's motivation for joining the Rumble is that he really wanted to break into the NSSCRA and prove to the young guns that he's still got it. International stock car racing was nonexistent when he was racing professionally; even the Chip Woods era came years after he had hung up his helmet. Now's his chance, never mind the age.

Stiller often had To The Max on in the background while he's working. Gannon can come off as harsh at times, but sometimes he has a point. And he has a soft spot for Alvarez, praising her whenever he gets the chance. Stiller is of course very proud, given that he's the one who went to the local dirt tracks and scouted Alvarez. And now the retired NSSCRA driver had just heard about the radio host's goal to compete in Pharak, a goal that he shared with him. Maybe they can team up? Since Stiller doesn't even want the open charter, if he wins, he can even offer it to Gannon.

The phone on Gannon's desk rang. Someone was calling the number that he always mentioned on his show (the To The Max Hotline). Seeing as the show had ended about ten minutes ago, that made him a little annoyed, but still, he picked the phone up.

"To The Max Hotline."

"Hey Max, it's me. Skip Stiller."

"Oh! Well, sorry Skipper, but you're late. Show's over. Maybe call again tomorrow?"

"It's not about the show."

"Then what do you want?"

"I heard about your plan to race in the Rumble in Sherpaland."

"Hey, if GFR ain't doing it, then why don't I, right?"

"That's what I thought too."

"Not so fast, Skipper, I bet I can beat you to that spot."

"I'm not racing for the spot. Just want the thrill, the adrenaline rush. Maybe the win. But if I win, I won't take the spot."

"Are you mental? Then who's having it?"

"..... That's where you come in."

"You're giving me the spot if you win?"

"That's right, Max. I was thinking you can come join my team, I'll prepare a car for you, another for me, we can even help each other during the race."

"What's the catch?"

"You put me on your show tomorrow, and start promoting my racing school after that."

"Deal."

Skip Stiller Speedworks will be fielding two Chadwick C-1000s for the Rumble in the Rice Fields. One will be driven by Skip Stiller with number choices #3, #03 or #123, in that order. The other will be driven by Max Gannon with number choices #99, #999 or #69, in that order. In the event that Mr. Stiller wins the Rumble, he requests that the open charter for the race in North China instead be given to Mr. Gannon, who will then be using #69.

"So glad to get that third win and move on to the Round of Eight. Thanks to Chadwick and GFR for giving me a great car, thanks to my crew, my fans, you're the best. Yeah! FOR CEROAT, BABY!"

With his post-race interview after the Appalachian 500, Daryl Calhoun has made it clear that he believes in the liberation of the war-torn country that his teammate Pyotr Lavrentiev hails from. Both Calhoun and Lav weren't happy that the messages on the latter's Ceroat-themed car had to be stripped off for being political, so they decided to keep spreading the word in the next best way they know how - straight from their own mouths, during interviews and press conferences. Apparently, there is no rule against this, seeing as how Lav himself had been shouting "FOR CEROAT!" himself for weeks whenever he makes the podium, with no negative repercussions whatsoever.

"Thanks for the support, bro. You don't really need to do that if you don't want to, though," Lav told Calhoun later.

"No, I'm totally cool with it. I've seen the news. I'm not happy about what's going on in my best friend's birthplace."

"Yeah, it's a total nightmare. I can't not think about it though."

"Wouldn't it distract you?"

"No. It motivates me. I'm doing this whole racing thing not only for myself, or the team, but also for Ceroat."

"For Ceroat!" said a passing fan.

"See?" said Calhoun. "It's catching on. Hey everyone, FOR CEROAT!"

"FOR CEROAT! FOR CEROAT!" chanted everyone within ten feet of Calhoun and Lav.

Qualifying for the Shellshock Batteries 400 had been kind to GFR's main tier drivers. Each of the first three rows had a Yeezie on it: Caldwell starting fifth, Brooke fourth, and Alvarez on pole. Interestingly, just in front of Caldwell (and beside Brooke) is the Hapiloppian Taylor Henderson, who was involved in an incident along with the dreadlocked driver with during the regular season.

"Hey, Hendo!" Caldwell called out after the starting grid has been finalized, using the Hap's nickname.

"I hope this doesn't end in disaster," Alvarez said at the sight of her teammate trying to summon a former nemesis. "Relax. Hendo apologized, remember?" Brooke told her.

Hendo turned to see who was calling her name.

"Good luck tomorrow," said Caldwell.

Things Are Certainly Looking Better Than Before

Well then, would you look at that - another NSSCRA X Chase Week is upon us! I'm certainly in a more jolly mood than usual, but that's just because of what we have seen so far this weekend in the 2nd race of Chase Round 2 and totally not because of anything personal or anything. We have the Shellshock Batteries 400 at Marquette Raceway in Hampton Island to talk about, as well as the oval race in the Appalachian Nation - the Appalachian 500 presented by Pelfry's Chicken & Waffles (very long name btw). Let's see what went down, shall we?

We begin in Marquette, the rival race track to the infamous Stafford City, where the JR T1 gan were certainly looking for better than what we got in Delano. Alfonso Mercado (@AM64) certainly came from nowhere to be the #1 non-charter today, qualifying #64 to an impressive P9 for tomorrow's race. He's certainly trying his best to show his stuff to the world, and that's all we can ask of him. Joining him tomorrow will be Hossem Nasri (13th), Gongming Gao (20th), Rockii Ezis (28th) and Anavella Ariiki (29th) - along with 2 drivers from the host nation. Alex Knight was the final driver in at 36th while open-charter Matthew Conrad will be just behind in 37th.

As for our resident Chaser Michael Stefan (@Stefan07), he was certainly in the hot seat coming into this weekend with only Taylor Henderson behind him in the Chase Top 12. He certainly needs a good weekend to help his chances and he will start alongside Mercado in 10th for tomorrow's pivotal race. It was Thea Alvarez who took pole ahead of River Suzgar II and Hendo, with the biggest casualties of the day being the guys from The Sherpa Empire - all 3 of Tsering Chu (39th), Kai Qiang (40th) and Rinzi Aogar Zakhilwal (44th) struggling around here for some unknown reason.

Meanwhile in Charlotte, Maddison Riley-Jones (@MaddyRJ03) was looking for improvements as well and she would certainly get that today. The other Maddy, Maddie Alexander to you and me, took pole over Edmund Flanders with our Maddy and Robin Dragonovic sharing Row 2 in what could only be described as "Margaret playing with the Yeezie shippers". It would be a race of drama as Chaser Barnabas Mate failed to make the end, but it would be Daryl Calhoun who'd come from 11th to take the flag over Alexander and Dragonovic. Maddy finished 5th, behind Cocoabo #37, but that was enough to send her to 7th in the standings heading into the relocated Cutoff Race at the Friendship Bridge. The Contenders has certainly been a fun series to watch so far and you'd expect more drama to come in the Round 2 decider next week...

JR share the 5th row in Marquette tomorrow. What can we do with that? I guess we'll find out soon enough...

The Valentians – Intermission

Valentijn was a little uneasy that particular morning. She woke up with the question still on her mind, the late-night TV show that bothered her than it normally should. She needed to know the media attention that the Valentians as a whole are getting.

"Do you think the Valentians making great strides are for legal or illegal reasons?" was the armor-piercing question she heard on that show. She knows full-well and trust her drivers and Valentian citizens - they are not the one to do such a thing. However, come third season, will they if given the opportunity? She especially believes and trusts her wife, her counterpart from another dimension, the Fate, a girl made out of lights, and a full-time teacher and part-time espionage enthusiast, to not do such a thing, but she still needed to know.

That morning, she stood in front of the Sixty along with the other Valentians. They have been called up early by Valentijn to assemble at the meeting point on the plane, approximately 100 of them gathered up.

"Good morning, my fellow Valentian friends," she started her speech, gently tapping on the microphone while relaying the transcript to everyone's HUDs, "Thank you, and I am sure you are all aware as to why I gave you a communication chatter to be here today. The qualifications are going to be the next day, so there is no rush and... anyway, you might have heard of the media attention that we are getting. It is good that we are getting such an attention, of course. Getting straight to the point, I trust you all, but I need to know if there has been... illegalities going on in the background. I hope to goodness that we are not having that, and I want to emphasise that there is nothing personal against any of you. So we need to start doing these checks, and I would rather that we do this in the open. Clarissa, Anastasia, Gwen, Holly, Jolyn, please come to the front along with Jenny, Jared, Marcus, Adriana, Tracie, and Genki. The rest of you will be sitting in the open mic, so please do press the buzzer if you have any relevant information as a crew member, or a member of Valentine Z."

A chorus of murmurs were heard throughout the plane's foyer for the good while, discussing about the possible illegality that they might get caught with. The Valentians were certain that they did not such thing, but there is still a small possibility that someone is hiding it. Valentijn was sitting in front with Chief Senator Annette Shannon Gwendolyn “Höchste Gerechtigkeit Und Heitere Ehre” Melissa Liliah Nelie Irella I. Steinhäusser Magdalena Tammy Elizabeth Jennifier Dorothea Wanda Ec. Lexer on her side, a chief justice whom, other than the casual Rocket Race that she went for, has no other stakes in the world of NSSCRA.

"We will be recording this entire session, if you guys are fine with this," Valentijn announced, with Head Diplomat Charlene turning on the cameras that were set up all over the place - cameras looking at the audience seats, on the main foyers, and more importantly, the front stage and tables that were set up with clear view of Valentijn, Annette, and the others that would be sitting on the circle.

Valkyrie Valentijn Samantha Constantine: All right, first person - Clarissa, my dear wife. I know you are not the one to do such a thing, but I hope you understand why.

Clarissa Alanis Star Samantha: Oooh, no worries! Yes, I understand as to why. It's just a shame that people thought we are cheating.

Jenny Claudia Hoshiko Radiance: Yeah, no problem with that.

Chief Senator Annette Liliah S. Lexer: Okay, let us begin. Clarissa of Valentian NSSCRA Team #7, and Jenny, Crew Chief of Team #7, do you have anything to declare regarding illegal modifications or tactics being used?

Clarissa Alanis Star Samantha: Not as far as I am concerned! I would say that the devices I have in my car would be a little troublesome, but we have this cleared with the NSSCRA team officials. Jenny can provide the relevant documents.

Jenny Claudia Hoshiko Radiance: It has also been shown that these devices in #7 do not modify the car's engine or any other parts in any way. They are merely sensors for Clarissa to get readings off of. Additionally, she cannot control the car with her mind.

Chief Senator Annette Liliah S. Lexer: When is the last time your vehicle and your team has been subjected to inspection and approval by the NSSCRA officials?

Jenny Claudia Hoshiko Radiance: Yes, every race. Performance curves and data were also compared between a normal human driver and Clarissa. Both shows that the car performs the same. Clarissa uses the data for her advantage, so she can accurately do better movements. The inspectors and officials are independent too, of course. They don't know us, we don't know them.

Chief Senator Annette Liliah S. Lexer: Thank you, Clarissa and Jenny. Looking and stifling through the data and documents you have provided, along with the footage of the inspection, indicates that you are in the clear. On the personal level, of course.

Jenny Claudia Hoshiko Radiance: To be honest, it would not make sense for us to suddenly started cheating, especially when we put through all of the mishaps and we don't have the most flawless of races.

Valkyrie Valentijn Samantha Constantine: Anastasia, my magical counterpart. Thank you for coming up! Jared too, pleasure and a big thanks for running the team smoothly.

Anastasia Freya Yadana Aye: Thank you, Valentijn! Yeah, I am confident about this one!

Jared Miller Van Den Borre: Well well, more or less. After all, I have been checking them stingily. Anyway, let's get started.

Chief Senator Annette Liliah S. Lexer: Anastasia of Valentian NSSCRA Team #15, and Jared, Crew Chief of Team #15, do you have anything to declare regarding illegal modifications or tactics being used?

Anastasia Freya Yadana Aye: Nope, nothing of that sort! I do remember that my car has an air conditioner installed, but that was more to help me out as a person and not for the car. I didn't really turn it on all that time, though.

Jared Miller Van Den Borre: Additionally, the air conditioner itself drains more fuel so it would not make sense for us to suddenly go further.

Chief Senator Annette Liliah S. Lexer: Was the car's fuel tank modified when you add the AC?

Jared Miller Van Den Borre: No, Senator. In fact, I have the document right here from as early as NSSCRA 8, then NSSCRA 9, then 10, and the recent inspection pass certificate and transcript. The A/C is approved and well-within the means.

Chief Senator Annette Liliah S. Lexer: Looking and stifling through the data and documents you have provided, along with the footage of the inspection, indicates that you are in the clear. Again, I must emphasise that this is me trying to be as independent as best as I can, so if there are bigger inspections, we might just need to do this more thoroughly.

Jared Miller Van Den Borre: Thank you very much, Annette.

Anastasia Freya Yadana Aye: Yup, thank you! I sure do hope that we can do the qualification proper tomorrow!

Valkyrie Valentijn Samantha Constantine: Gwen, the Fate of Space and Time, thank you very much. Marcus, same to you as well, thanks for coming.

Gwen Tracer Allison Oxton: Pleasure is all mine, loves! Ahaha, excuse me, pardon my informality!

Valkyrie Valentijn Samantha Constantine: Oh no, that's totally fine.

Marcus Alan Ariel Reynolds: Thank you, my friend. Well, this has certainly been an eye-opener for all of us.

Valkyrie Valentijn Samantha Constantine: It is, isn't it? The fact that people think we are suspicious. Of course, we will have to let Chief Senator help you out.

Chief Senator Annette Liliah S. Lexer: Thank you, Val. Gwen of Valentian NSSCRA Team #31, and Marcus, Crew Chief of Team #31, do you have anything to declare regarding illegal modifications or tactics being used?

Marcus Alan Ariel Reynolds: No, not that I know of. Our vehicle is stock as it can ever be, apart from fine-tuning in the garage.

Gwen Tracer Allison Oxton: Ahh, ohh... hmm, I am not sure how legal it is, but I will have to say it anyway: Often time I rewind or pause time in my car to get better angles.

Chief Senator Annette Liliah S. Lexer: Please do elaborate.

Gwen Tracer Allison Oxton: Stopping and Rewinding time. I did the former in order to get a better gauge at what is happening around me. I rewind time in order to avoid the crashes and prevent pile-ups from happening. For both these times, I have never left the seat of my car, and I never used my temporal powers to modify my car's physics.

Chief Senator Annette Liliah S. Lexer: Do you think you have used rewinding to save yourself before?

Gwen Tracer Allison Oxton: No, Senator Annette. Only to save the lives of those around me. Random luck and physics come into play and often times I would do it just to prevent a large pile-up that severely injured or killed someone.

Chief Senator Annette Liliah S. Lexer: Do you have evidence that you have never used the powers to save yourself from a DNF?

Gwen Tracer Allison Oxton: NSSCRA 9, the rotten egg drink incident. I would have stopped myself from drinking it on that day, but I simply let it happen and subsequently DNFed. Plus, I have not been getting good performances lately for NSSCRA 10, and I never used it to win.

Chief Senator Annette Liliah S. Lexer: This is good enough so far, thank you very much. Looking at the papers Marcus has provided for the vehicle, along with your testimonial, I can say with certainly that you are in the clear of cheating. Unfortunately, the nature of space and time is beyond the many of us, only you having full knowledge and control of such magnificent power. Thank you for your time.

Marcus Alan Ariel Reynolds: Same to you too!

Gwen Tracer Allison Oxton: And thank you very much!

"We will also do Holly and Jolyn later, but for now, there is only one person left..."

"You, my leader."

"Yeah, indeed. Welp, let's get started!"

"Valentijn of Valentian NSSCRA Second Tier #10, and Tiffany, Crew Chief of Team #10, do you have anything to declare regarding illegal modifications or tactics being used?"

"Nope, nothing for me," Valentijn declared, her face full of confidence, "It actually would be a bit too much and understandably veering into suspicion because I have won 4 races today, but with the documents here, along with the consecutive inspection passes, I am confident that my victories are hard-fought and legitimate."

"Of course, Valentijn. Please do continue."

"Additionally, it is of note that VRSCR has helped in a way because of the high speed thrills. The 500-600 km/h breakneck speeds there translate well for me here in NSSCRA because you are used to the higher speeds there."

------

The session was more or less done. Holly and Jolyn were also cleared of such suspicions, but only because they have not been scoring their best and winning races. The suspicion was not exactly on them, but as standard procedure, they have been interviewed with the same negative results for cheats. With the other Valentians not having anything to add onto the matter, the meeting was closed after 1.5 hours of recording, with Charlene already having duplicated and handing over the disks to Annette, Valentijn, and the other higher-ups.

"All right, you guys should have a copy of the videos from various angles, alongside the documents," Charlene said, handing a USB drive to all of the Valentians, "That makes it 100 copies of the data, 100 thumbdrives, to 100 Valentians. So nothing is going to be tempered. Oh and yeah, they are read-only and the thumbdrives cannot be reused. 524288-bit encryption."

"Now, as to what we will do with the data?" Valentijn made one final announcement, "Actually... just keep it. This is to mark and indicate that we have no such wrongdoing, and that we have the video, pictures, official documents, and everything to prove it. Until then, only when the accusations get stronger then we defend ourselves with the data we have. We have no reason to believe that the other countries are our enemies, and it is understandable that they might think of something going on when we start winning races left, right, and center. They are still our friends first and foremost, but if they start to get suspicious and someone - touch wood - gets jealous and started accusing us, we will have plenty of data to show."

"It's sorta a damned if you do, damned if you don't, kind of deal," Jolyn remarked, "Again, we have absolutely no reason to believe that they are accusing us of cheating. This is just insurance of exoneration."

"Until then, please keep this to yourselves, and do what we do best with these races!"

VTM in Top Form at Anderscroggin Fairgrounds

Anderscroggin Fairgrounds, Delano, Xanneria :: After scraping through the opening round of the NSSCRA Chase, Vilita & Turori Motorsports showed up in a big way at the Anderscroggin Fairgrounds in Xanneria with all three Vilita & Turori Motorsports drivers finishing inside the Top 10 for the first time since round 12 of NSSCRA Season 8 at the Nurburg Raceway in Caleonia.

It would be the best overall performace for the team since Round 5 of that same NSSCRA 8 Season in the Kobold Tools 300 in New Northwesteros where Centur Tiones and River 'Shark' Suzgar II finished 1st and 2nd while Yraaga Gilli'i came home in the 9th position. With all three Vilita and Turori Motorsports drivers finishing inside the Top 7 it also would become the second best all-time performance in a single race for Vilita and Turori Motorsports at the Top Tier of NSSCRA competition, bested only by the first ever Toys '4' All 500 at the Lonngeylin Ring where all three full-time Vilita & Turori Motorsports drivers finished inside the Top 7 including Yraaga Gilli'i in Victory Lane while the fourth Vilita and Turori Motorsports Entry of #60 Rockii Ezis finished the race in 11th place.

The Culmination of the first event of the second round of the NSSCRA Season 10 Chase was a battle between a pair of Vilita and Turori Motorsports drivers and a pair of Valkyrie drivers from Valentine Z. While River 'Shark' Suzgar II ultimately crossed the line on the bumper of the dominant Clarissa Alanis Star Samantha who secured the first ticket into the Round of 8, it was still a massive points day for the team - critical with at least 5 guaranteed spots in the next round available on points alone.

In the Vilita & Turori Race NSSCRA Pick 'em Playoff Chase Challenge competition it was a pair of local Vilita & Turorian participants that got the best of the first race in the Round of 12 with @NuclearBreeze narrowly edging out @eelcat827 by two points to book their place in the Round of 8. With a strong showing across the board by all 12 remaining NSSCRA Playoff drivers at the Anderscroggin Fairgrounds, there was not a huge spread between the participants in the results in Xanneria amongst Pick 'em Participants with @Packer10 posting the worst score at 139 that was still just 24 points off the top score posted by @NuclearBreeze. Just 7 points separate the current bubble participant @melvin_the_gr8 from the bottom of the standings.

The NSSCRA Circuit now heads to the Marquette Raceway in Hampton Island for the Shellshock Batteries 400, an event that the Vilita and Turori Motorsports team struggled to compete for the victory at one season prior. Yraaga Gilli'i was the top performing Vilita & Turori Motorsports driver in Hampton Island during NSSCRA Season 9 with a 7th place finish although #2 Centur Tiones has shown strength at the course in the past with a top 5 finish inthe inagural Shellshock Batteries 400.

Despite the 7th place finish in Xanneria, Tiones enters Hampton Island with just a slim 4 point advantage over the 9th place driver #27 Stacie Houston of Cassadaigua currently representing the cut line for the round of 8.5

While the focus within the Vilitan Cove will be on the three Vilita and Turori Motorsports drivers, there is plenty to keep an eye on outside of the big three as former Viltia and Turori Motorsports development driver Rockii Ezis will be looking to make their 6th consecutive start at the Marquette Raceway. After struggling to qualify for races during the NSSCRA Regular Season, Ezis and the Rocket Motorsports Team have stepped up their qualifying program as of late and thus far is on a five-race qualifying streak in the #48 CoCoCo Rocket. While the race results have not been terribly impressive thus far, the fact that the team is starting to make races again can perhaps be a sign that improvements are coming especially with teammate #5 Liangmei Li having posted a Top 5 finish in Xanneria.

The Gardeners – Intermission

"Us too, but... why?" Holly wondered to herself, with Jolyn and Adriana beside her. She did not fully understand why she would also need to go for clearing her name of cheating, especially given the fact that she is a beginner to the world of racing, and that she has not exactly been getting good results for the races anyway. Still, to cover each other not from the cheats but simply to ensure that they are cleared of any wrongdoing, Valentijn decided that it would be a good idea if Chief Senator Annette was involved to help them with such a thing. Cameras, documents, everything down to a detail, and Jamie was lavishing in such a thing happening, for someone who is so meticulous. Jolyn gave Holly a soft smile, reassuring her that nothing bad will happen, and that they will simply need to talk it straight to the point and on what exactly have they been doing.

"Don't worry, me and Tracie will help you out," Adriana said, giving Holly a pat on the shoulders, as they walked up the stage next after Valentijn was done with hers.

Valkyrie Valentijn Samantha Constantine: Holly Starlight, my friend from another dimension. Thank you for coming down, I hope you are okay with this.

Holly Aurora Lapia Starlight: Hm hm, thanks. I am a bit nervous though, but I am just nervous because of the whole ordeal. I hope my name is cleared.

Chief Senator Annette Liliah S. Lexer: Don't worry, you will be fine. All right, let's get to it. Holly of Gardeners NSSCRA Team #55; Tracie, Crew Chief of Team #55; and Adriana, Crew Member of Team #55, do you have anything to declare regarding illegal modifications or tactics being used?

Holly Aurora Lapia Starlight: No, Annette. I never thought of doing such a thing.

Tracie Sarah Hyvärinen Lindholm: No, dear Senator. No such thing. And I have the documents here to prove it. Of note is that we are relatively the newest team from Valentine Z, so we only have materials starting from NSSCRA 10.

Chief Senator Annette Liliah S. Lexer: Duly noted. Has your vehicle been modified - approved, or otherwise?

Adriana Ela Kowalski Lillian: Yes, actually. Legally, of course. Holly's car #55 and internals have been fitted with more insulating materials, all to prevent Holly's body from touching the more sensitive car parts with her cold.

Chief Senator Annette Liliah S. Lexer: And would you say that these affects the performance of her car?

Adriana Ela Kowalski Lillian: Yes, but adversely. Heat dissipation rate is slower as of this modification, and Holly's car would not be able to take in much of the higher temperatures because it would cook the engine too much.

Chief Senator Annette Liliah S. Lexer: Were there accidents or "modifications" with Holly using her body to cool the car down?

Holly Aurora Lapia Starlight: Well, there was one, but I think I DNF'ed as a result of that- no wait, I am so sorry. I did not DNF, but I did get a huge dent on my results. That was on the previous race, the one at Xanneria, whereby my arm got sucked into the car's moving parts. I am fine, but the car suffered due to the sudden temperature changes.

Chief Senator Annette Liliah S. Lexer: Was this an accident, or were you trying to cool it with your hand?

Holly Aurora Lapia Starlight: My hand slipped, Annette. I was trying to push a gear, and reach down for something on a stretch of the course, but my hand got sucked into it by mistake.

Chief Senator Annette Liliah S. Lexer: Noted with, thank you. I think all the evidence here suggest that you are in the clear, Holly Starlight. Good luck with your next race.

Holly Aurora Lapia Starlight: Thank you very much!

Tracie Sarah Hyvärinen Lindholm: Thanks!

Adriana Ela Kowalski Lillian: Oooh, thank you!

Valkyrie Valentijn Samantha Constantine: Jolyn Ceeta, I am glad to see you around again. And congratulations on your recent comebacks, some of them, at least.

Jolyn Maxine Helen Ceeta: Thank you, my friend. Well, err... let us get going, I suppose.

Chief Senator Annette Liliah S. Lexer: Jolyn of Gardeners NSSCRA Team #76; Genki, Crew Chief of Team #76, do you have anything to declare regarding illegal modifications or tactics being used?

Jolyn Maxine Helen Ceeta: Nyet, and Genki has the documents to prove it.

Genki Travis Lee Zhuān Jiā: Here they are, Chief Senator.

Chief Senator Annette Liliah S. Lexer: Thank you. Any modifications to the car?

Jolyn Maxine Helen Ceeta: Coming from NSSCRA 8, I installed an AC on my car for NSSCRA 10. I think it is the same as Anastasia's #15.

Chief Senator Annette Liliah S. Lexer: Was this an approved installation, with no mods to the other parts of the car?

Jolyn Maxine Helen Ceeta: That is correct. The AC would consume more fuel, but we have no such consideration of using a bigger gas tank. The gas tank remains the legal size as it is in the specifications.

Genki Travis Lee Zhuān Jiā: Cross-sectional view of the car right here, along with the schematics, and the approved/passed documents from the NSSCRA officials.

Chief Senator Annette Liliah S. Lexer: Thank you. Looking at the documents, I hereby declare with confidence that Jolyn Maxine Caulfield Helen Ceeta is cleared of any and all possible accusations. Please do note that I can only pardon you from the Valentian laws, but if the NSSCRA officials started asking further questions, we will need further action and questions, along with evidence.

Jolyn Maxine Helen Ceeta: I am aware of it. Thank you for your time, Annette!

Genki Travis Lee Zhuān Jiā: Much appreciated.

"You would think they would be easier on us," Holly said to Jolyn, the two chatting up as the session came to an end, "I mean, IF and ONLY IF we decided to cheat, we would still not be sticking to the butt-end of the qualifications and race results."

"Well, call it insurance, Holly. People tend to get a little... suspicious if you started performing very well. Of course, like Val said, it's not that they are our enemies; it's good to have such a suspicion - these things have happened before. And for us, this is just insurance of exoneration."

Marquette Raceway, Hampton Island
Leading up to the Shellshock Batteries 400
“Good luck tomorrow,” Sage Caldwell called out to Taylor Henderson.
Taylor smiled and nodded her head affirmatively.

“You too, Sage,” Taylor replied. “Have a great race.”

Taylor Henderson was in an upbeat mood as she got ready for the Shellshock 400 in Hampton Island. She’d be starting third for the race after she took advantage of a really good setup in her Super Skychief. The car was on the edge of out of control for qualifying, but that’s the way she liked it. She subscribed to the school of thought that felt that the most speed could be found just on the edge of out of control, and at a place like Marquette Raceway, you needed all the speed you could get.

Of course, she wouldn’t have that same setup for the race. The car would be more stable, more comfortable in a long run, and less edgy compared to in qualifying. So after she climbed out of the car for qualifying, her crew got to work, dialing a race-day setup in the car. It wasn’t a lengthy process – just a matter of putting in different springs, tightening the car up a bit, raising the spoiler, those sort of adjustments.

When Taylor climbed in the car for “Happy Hour,” the final practice session before the race, the car felt a little slower, but more stable, and more comfortable. This was a car that could handle a 400-lap race a lot better than the qualifying setup. She was pleased with it, and felt like she could win with this car.

Meanwhile, Drake Stevenson was feeling kind of devious. A friend of his had sent him a shirt to wear in Hampton Island – a new shirt being sold to fans of the Hapilopper National Baseball Team for the upcoming World Baseball Classic in the event the Haps got paired up with Hampton Island yet again. The shirt read “WALK THE BEARS!” in tribute to Hapilopper’s controversial strategy for handling Hampton Island’s ursine baseball players.

You see, several years ago, Hapiloppian pitchers, fearful of Hampton Island’s bear Midnight and its ultra-explosive home run power, decided to not even give it a chance. They intentionally walked the bear every time. Midnight hated it. The Hampton Islanders hated it. But the Haps loved it. The hashtag #WalkTheBears went viral during the last World Baseball Classic, and was expected to do so again.

Drake parading around in the shirt was sure to have angered some fans in Hampton Island, but it spoke to the rivalry the Haps had with Hampton Island in baseball. The two were among the best baseball powers in the multiverse, and it seemed like every year, the Haps and the Hampton Island Golden Bears got paired up with each other, either in the group stage or in the playoffs. The games were always intense because it seemed like the two were perfect matches for each other.

Frank Bronson, meanwhile, was keeping to himself. The dashcam footage of Chuck Harvey jumping into Drake Stevenson’s car had more than gone viral at this point, much to his dismay, but the general idea was that everyone felt bad for Frank. He had been given a raw deal and it wasn’t his fault. It was plainly obvious he was still hurting from what had happened with he and Nancy, and he needed some time to process it. But at least he was out of the Chase. That gave him one less thing to worry about.

Qualifying at Marquette Raceway was an unmitigated disaster for all three Sherpa teams. The trouble started in Delano the morning after the race at the Anderscroggin Fairgrounds. As everyone was packing up to leave, Rinzi Zakhilwal met a very sociable Xannerian man who invited him over for lunch and offered him a batch of home-brewed beer to share with his crew or other drivers. Unfortunately, despite Xanneria's proud tradition of alcoholic beverage-making, and despite the man's admirable hospitality, he was not a very good brewer.

Rinzi brought the beer to Hampton Island, where he shared it with several other people, including Kai Qiang, Tsering Chu, and Houzhi Chang. It was only after giving away most of the beer that Rinzi drank a bottle himself. It wasn't the best-tasting beer he'd ever had, but it seemed at least drinkable -- until a few minutes after he finished the bottle when he began to feel queasy.

With multiple people feeling sick, the Sherpalanders found it difficult to prepare for the race. The drivers had recovered physically by the time qualifying came, but all three teams were ill-prepared because of disrupted practice sessions or rushed work in the garage. Qiang, Chu, and their crews gave Rinzi some dirty looks for sharing the bad beer, but Rinzi apologized and swore he didn't know it was bad. "I drank a bottle too because I didn't know it was going to everyone sick," Rinzi explained. "The guy who gave me the beer made amazing BBQ, so I assumed he knew what he was doing."

(OOC: if anyone else wants to RP Rinzi giving a bottle to one of your characters, go for it.)

Marquette Raceway, Marquette City, Hampton Island
The Shellshock Batteries 400

The Yeezie Chasers survived the Round of 16, with great showings in all three races. The Round of 12 was another story though - it started tough as they dipped from "great" to "good" in Xanneria, allowing the other Chase contenders to leapfrog them in the standings. Tried to step it up as they headed to Hampton Island, expecting to improve in the standings, but to no avail. Instead, the opposite happened. Thea Alvarez finished the Shellshock Batteries 400 in twenty-second, having headed to the pits more times than she would have wanted, both for adjustments and minor repairs as she got knocked around by the other competitors. Jeremiah Brooke ran into some oil on the track left by another car early on, spun out, hit the wall, and brought out an early caution. Though he would recover and go on to finish the race, both his car's body and its handling were screwed up by the crash and he would only settle for twenty-seventh, four laps down. That put the two of them at ninth and eleventh in points, respectively, which doesn't seem so bad except for the fact that only eight drivers remain in title contention at the end of the round.

Brooke took his seat alongside his fellow GFR members at the post-race press conference. He obviously wasn't happy with how he performed, but he didn't look too angry or sad either. Calmly, he spoke to reporters about his thoughts on the race:

"Well, it's just one of those bad races, at least from my perspective. Of course Tsering Chu would say otherwise, since she won; congrats by the way. But for me, yes, it was a bad race, and it came at one of the worst times possible for us. But what can I do? It's over, the checkered flag has flown. I'll just have to move on, start over new for next week, and work and hope and pray to get a great result and advance."

"So you're saying you're in desperation mode?" asked SKYNET's Matt Heath.

"Yes. I never wanted to be, but honestly, now I accept it. The record books say I'm a champion, and the fans say I'm a superstar. But I say I'm also just human. I'm not perfect. I may be tasting success, but I can't let myself get spoiled by it. Sometimes you have to be brought down to see how good you really are as you try to get back up."

"Thank you, Jeremiah," said Heath. "Thea?"

"I agree with my colleague here. Bad result for us, but then again, that's part of racing. No matter how good you are as a driver, you can't expect everything to be easy week after week. Things go wrong; if there's a chance they can, there's a chance they will. It's a law of nature. But we can minimize those chances though. That's why we keep putting in the work week after week."

"Thank you for those words, Thea."

"You're welcome, Matt. Haha, welcome mat."

"Looks like you do need a laugh during this tough time, so I'll allow it."

The Plum Lake Circuit is made up of dirt roads in a rural area, and there are many swamps, farms, and tumbledown shacks and storage sheds along the side of the course. There is also a lake, for which the course is named. Some of the fields and orchards are sheltered behind fences or stone walls. When races are held here, the Suzhou Racing Club piles old tires along the edge of the lake and other parts of the track where they are needed to prevent dangerous crashes. However, there have been a few cases of cars going over or through the tires and landing in the lake or crashing into someone's fruit trees.

The qualifying session briefly had to be paused while track crews cleaned up the wreckage of Zhiling Fu's car after his brakes failed and he went barreling into a pile of tires and a stone wall. Fu suffered minor injuries, but he is expected to make a full recovery.

Shuzhen Zhu -- a local favorite and one of the best IRACT drivers to never appear in NSSCRA -- was conspicuous by her absence as she recently left her native Suzhou to enroll in the Nexus Racing Driver Academy.

The Rumble in the Rice Fields was cleaner than some races at Plum Lake, though not the fastest race ever run at the track. Damp weather in recent days may have left the track just a touch softer than usual. The Suzhou Racing Club ensured that the track itself was in dry enough to drive on and free from hazards, but they did not remove all the mud puddles in the grassy runoff areas. Namkha Pasang Chen needed a tow truck to pull his car out of the mud after missing a turn and going off the track into a sunken grassy area. Apart from that, Fu Zhou overheated and Lizhai Wang and Skiia Vialiv both retired later in the race.

Skip Stiller's win sparked controversy as some people felt his request to let Max Gannon race at the Friendship 375 was unfair to other drivers that finished ahead of Gannon. Kalden Tso was very vocal about it despite having no plausible claim to the charter himself.

It wasn't a great day for the home drivers, though Ming Lu's top 10 finish was probably a pleasant surprise for him and Shibao Xiao continues to exceed expectations coming out of the best season of his career.

(OOC: open charter's yours Kanye)

The Shellshock Batteries 400 in Marquette was certainly going to be an interesting race no matter what happened out there. For some, they would be trying to get into the Top 8 come what may while others were just looking for a good drive to show what they could do in future seasons to come. With Jaguar Racing sharing row 5 for this race, we were certainly excited as to what races they would have here...but how did they actually do?

Let's begin with Alfonso Mercado (@AM64), who started the higher of the two in P9 for this one. His start wouldn't be so good as he fell down to 26th but that would be the lowest he'd run all day - a great sign of his development as a driver. He'd climb up to 10th for a while before falling back to the mid-20s until the end, finishing this race in a respectable 17th and as the best non-charter driver by miles. The closest was Rockii Ezis in 28th while Gongming Gao (31st), Anavella Ariiki (34th) and Hossem Nasri (35th) all finishing low down the order. Alex Knight was first to DNF in his home race while Matthew Conrad was 36th.

As for our resident Chaser in Michael Stefan (@Stefan07), starting from 10th meant it was all on him to try and get himself in the best position possible for next week. He started well in 6th and hovered around the Top 10 for a while before falling to 20th. He bounced straight back up to 12th for a while before an unknown issue sent him down to as low as 32nd. He would put up a great recovery drive after that as he climbed his way to 11th come the flag, a result that leaves him in 10th and 7 points back of safety in the Chase. Out of all the drivers out there, I don't think anyone would complain about today's winner as it was the brilliant Tsering CHu who took this race over Clarissa Alanis Star Samantha and Kai Qiang, finally completing the dreams we all had of seeing both husband and wife on the podium. Hengxing Tian finishing 12th was certainly a surprise, as was Jeremiah Brooke in 27th and Centur Tiones joining Knight and 4 others on the DNF list. Heading into the finals weekend, it will be Stefan, Brooke, Tiones and Alvarez who will be trying to catch Taylor Henderson and make the Top 8 - a scintillating scenario for next week's race.

Next week will deliver the fireworks at one of the most unique tracks on the calendar as both The Sherpa Empire and The Northern Chinese Republic hosts the Chase Round 2 decider on the Yiling International Friendship Circuit - on a bridge that connects Sandouping with Taipingxi. The recently-located Delivery Mouse 300 will be the Contenders race while the main event is the Friendship 375, the final chance the bottom 4 will have of saving themselves from the cut. The question for us is simple: is this gap impossible to catch?

Max Gannon: Welcome back, it's To The Max with me, Max Gannon. In two days' time, I shall be leaving for Sherpaland to take part in the Rumble at the Rice Fields, where the winner will be awarded a place in the field for the NSSCRA race in North China, the Friendship 375. Originally, I was gonna have to get myself a car and crew, but just yesterday, I've found myself a backer. A teammate. A partner. A guest for my show. Say hello to former KURT and NSSCRA driver, Skip Stiller. Thanks for being here.
Skip Stiller: Thanks for letting me be here.
MG: So Skip, it's been almost a year since your last NSSCRA race, you know, last season's Proving Grounds 500. How are you feeling about climbing back into a stock car for the Rumble?
SS: Ain't gonna lie, I'm excited to see how it's gonna turn out. Hopefully I haven't lost my touch.
MG: Don't be silly, I've been retired for years, and I haven't lost my touch.
SS: Oh ho ho ho, we'll see about that when we finally race.
MG: To those just tuning in, and haven't already heard the news, Skip here is gonna prepare two cars, one for him, one for me. What's the team name again, Skipper?
SS: Skip Stiller Speedworks.
MG: Skip Stiller Speedworks. Great name. Gonna be Chadwicks, like Skip has driven in his GFR days, and they're also what he uses in his racing school.
SS: Great car, those Chads.
MG: And great school, too. So if you wanna be the next star in the world of motorsports, head on over to the Skip Stiller School of Racing, with branches all over St. Kanye and New Northwesteros. Oh, by the way, have you ever thought of expanding internationally?
SS: Honestly, yeah. I'm thinking Sherpaland, Cassadaigua, maybe Hapilopper or TJUN-ia. Basically countries with a significant NSSCRA presence. But I've first gotta focus on building up a local presence, you know? Get more instructors. I'm using retired local champs and legends right now, it's great.
MG: Alright. Moving on, so how did you get your family on board with this little comeback of yours on the track?
SS: That's easy. They'll be coming with me. With us. Wifey said she wanted to see Sherpaland for herself. Bet the twins would love it too.
MG: Twins?
SS: Oh, I haven't told you? Vanessa and Valerie. They're almost a year old now.
MG: Imagine the NSSCRA grid twenty or so years from now. Vanessa Stiller. Valerie Stiller. Qiang's kids. So and so Houston-Brooke.
SS: That would be great, but they're too little now, Max, it's too far to say what they'll be then. But whatever it will be, of course I'm gonna support them.
MG: Okay. So Maryanne and the kids, you think their presence is gonna inspire you when raceday comes?
SS: For sure. But remember, I'm just racing for the thrill of it. I miss the feeling of competing internationally, but not to the point that I still want to worry about points or whatever. If I win this Rumble, it'll just be a huge bonus. I'll be happy about that, and I'll be happy for you, since you're getting the Friendship 375 spot that's gonna be given to me.
MG: Yup, that's part of our deal. So all those listeners rooting for me in the Rumble, don't forget to give Skipper here some of your good vibes as well.
SS: Please do.
MG: We've got some questions from callers by the way, Skip, if you don't mind.
SS: Sure, why not.
MG: Caller, you're on To The Max.
Caller 1: Yes, hi! This is Nikki from Bishop Valley.
MG; Hi, Nikki.
SS: Hello.
C1: Hi, Skip. Huge fan. I really miss you, I want you back in the NSSCRA, but I also understand why you left. My question is, what do you miss the most about the series? Aside from the racing itself, of course.
SS: Well, I miss my teammates. Jeremiah [Brooke], he's always a chill guy, same with Sage [Caldwell] during the times he's with us. Thea [Alvarez], of course. She's very sweet. And of course I miss the feeling of having all these people cheering for me and giving me the strength to fight for the win. All these fans.
C1: Including me?
SS: Especially you.
C1: Aww! Good luck in Sherpaland, Skip. Max. And good luck in North China to the GFR members too.
MG: Why, thank you, Nikki. You win a To The Max T-shirt. Next!
Caller 2: Uh, hey there, Max and Skip. This is Bert, from Frostvale.
SS; Oh cool, Frostvale. That's where Maryanne is from.
C2: This is a question for both of you, if you don't mind.
SS: Nope, all good.
MG: Go on then, Bert.
C2: So like, uh, who do you think will be the biggest challengers in your upcoming quest for uh, glory?
SS: Well if you ask me, iBen Toralmintii, obviously. Tons of experience with that guy. NSSCRA, WGPC, now he's even got the sports cars things going with iROS.
MG: And then you've got all these other international racers. Jama'obo Pegasii. Rustom Ibuna. Daryl Mizushima.
SS: Don't forget Jamie Eirian, just because the Valentians have been tearing the NSSCRA up right now.
MG: Yup, sounds like an all-star cast of sorts right there.
SS: That answer your question, Bert?
C2: Definitely, Skip. Thank you. Good luck to you two and GFR.
SS: Thank you, that means a lot.
MG: Thanks Bert. You win a To The Max shirt. [pauses for a few seconds] Okay Skip, anything about your plans after the Rumble? Gonna be going back home?
SS: Nah, I'm taking the fam to North China next to watch the 375 and the Everlong race, see my old teammates, you know? They're gonna need all the support they can get. Lav [Pyotr Lavrentiev] and Daryl [Calhoun] are looking good for the next round. But Thea and J, they're fighting for their lives. Sage, he's my successor and my protege. Hoping they all do well - they've got excellent equipment and crews, and they all have the skills to back it up. And of course they've been working hard.
MG: Yup, gotta love that GFR work ethic. I swear they rival the Jebslunders in that aspect.
SS: And you?
MG: I'm coming too. Hopefully not just watching with you guys, but actually being part of the field.
SS: Yeah. After all, you've "still got it", right?
MG: Still got it. I could give old Chet Byrd a run for his money.
SS: What about Freddie Nielson, you know, that old champ from Hampton Island?
MG: Oh, he was great. Was. [laughs] If you had us three race, I bet Chet and I can battle to the end.
SS: And Nielson?
MG: [laughs loudly, then pauses] Oh, we're out of time. But it has been nice having you today, Skipper.
SS: Thanks. It's been a pleasure. So, see you later for practice?
MG: Yes, yes. Absolutely. Hey, you wanna close the show?
SS: Sure thing! Alright, this has been To The Max with Max Gannon, thanks for listening. Until next time!

Badai Angin Night Race
Yoggy Oval
Yogyakulta, Filindostan

With a fifth of the race length remaining at the Yoggy Oval, Fiona and the #00 team were well inside the cutoff line despite Rinzi Aogar Zakhilwal, one of the drivers who badly needed a win, is on the drivers' seat leading the field. Running as high as 5th in her home race, Sunarya started to fade away in the closing stages of the race. A small incident with her teammate, the #0 car of Hana Bhe occurred when she tried to overtake the under-pressure driver, damaging the front right fender of the #00 car, which somewhat contributed to her downfall in the running order. In the closing laps, she was running sixteenth, and with Shark Suzgar within his needed spot to make the round of 12, it was up to Thea Alvarez to give hope to the Filindo fans and Sunarya, by catching up to the leading Sherpalander. The Kanyean driver did her best to overtake Rinzi at the finish line, but it was not enough. Zakhilwal indeed brought the mayhem in the elimination race by nipping Sunarya into the Round of 12 - had the driver of the #06 car been overtaken, he would have missed the cutoff line by just a single point.

"Sorry guys, didn't make it to the Round of 12. Let's get better next time shall we?" Fiona did not mind the results of the race, even she did not blame her teammate, who finished inside the top 10 to keep her battle of a top 20 finish alive, for the failure of the team to advance. "Fin, this is Werner. Good job out there. We'll be back strong next year you hear me? Rest well now and prepare for next week." When the car arrived at the pit road, Fiona was immediately met by Hana who jumped out of her car first, and apologized for what happened during the race. "It's not your fault sis, it was just a racing incident. I know you had to finish well in front of our fans." Sunarya said while hugging the former national champion hard. Fiona was also consoled by Thea, who felt bad with her failure to beat RInzi playing a part in the former's elimination. "Don't blame yourself, Thea. You gave your best in the race and for sure, you've gained more Filindo fans for your performance after this race. We'll support you and Hendo for the remaining races of the playoffs."

In all of this, Mercy, who had a quiet night in the #99 car and finished 37th, went out of the car and straight into the garage, snubbing the media who went to her to ask several questions about how the race was run. She did not care a bit about the events surrounding her, and simply went back to the hauler for a post-race debrief with the team. She was visibly not happy with how the race had for her with a visibly inferior equipment compared to her two teammates.

Outside of Filindostan, Hana remained struggling in races. In the two events following her 6th place finish at the Yoggy, she qualified inside the top 10, and was actually in the front row in the race at Xanneria. However, she finished both of the next races outside the top 20, and with Tsering Chu winning at Hampton Island, the Filindo driver was once again outside the Top 20 in points. This have prompted the management at Badai Angin to start seriously looking to replace her in the #0 car next season, and they have extended an offer to former Championship Four participant Liangmei Li, although nothing has materialized as of now.

Fiona had also a subpar set of races, finishing 20th and 29th in Xanneria and Hampton Island, with the pit crews reverted to their usual assignments after her elimination from the playoffs. They did retain the charter though, which enabled her to qualify for the remaining races of the season. Mercy was supposed to race at Appalachia, but her participation in the Rumble in the Rice Fields along with Rusty Ibuna prevented her from running in the Everlong race. She ran well in the race, finishing sixth, while Rusty was 17th in his stock car racing debut. She was pretty pissed at the result where Kanyean Skip Stiller won the race but will hand the open charter appearance to Max Gannon, who she finished ahead with. As the Everlong Series race at Vykta relocated at the same track where the Friendship 375 will take place, Badai Angin have decided to run Mercy Binayas in the #0 car for the Delivery Mouse 300 Everlong race.

Itzal Lasterketa's fortunes went south after the president of team operations, Aingeru Aretxabaleta, was arrested in Hispinas due to his participation in the murder of Ajian driver Noriyasu Nagai. At the same time, wanting to distance himself from the investigations, Jose Manuel Varadi pulled his funding of the organization, directly contributing to the poor performances of both NSSCRA's main and Everlong series teams. While Geru was somewhat reliable, with only three DNFs to his name, the other two drivers, Astigar Armendartize and Kiki Lambosa, have both racked DNFs and were usually propping up the running order.

Before the playoffs, due to a string of poor performances by Tsuchie, the charter for the #29 team has been taken away by NSSCRA, which was probably reassigned to the #00 team of Badai Angin Tim Motorsport. Since then Geru has failed to make the race for the fifth straight time, including the race at Filindostan, where it was announced that Katana Racing will be taking over with a different license for next season. As such, the transition between Hispino crews to Ajian have started after the race at the Yoggy.

At Filindostan, Akifumi Maruyama took over the operations of Itzal Lasterketa, putting a deputy in races where he had to field the #0 car for Tadashi Mitsubishi. Aki asked Geru if he would be willing to step down to the Everlong Series for next season, and has agreed to do so, taking over one of the cars along with Dashi after the final race at Tundra Falls. As of the race in Yiling, where the race was reassigned from Vykta, Itzal Lasterketa was a Hispinas team in name only, as it was announced that the organization will be shutting down the #29 team in the NSSCRA main series effective immediately due to lack of funding when Telebuenas pulled its sponsorship and went to the #71 team, and is releasing the last Hispino in the team, Astigar Armendaritze. Starting at the Delivery Mouse 300, Shigeru Tsuchie will be driving the #70 car in the Everlong Series, fully sponsored by Drymark.

Liangmei Li sort of wished she'd gotten the email from Werner Ragos before she committed to driving for Rocket Motorsports through the end of NSSCRA 11. BA Tim was a decent organization, and they occasionally had moments of brilliance which suggested the potential for future growth. She would have had to at least look over their terms and give the offer serious consideration if she hadn't already committed to Rocket.

Li mostly enjoyed driving for Rocket and working with the Newmanistanians. She even had a hunky new boyfriend who lived in Tundra Falls. But her results on the track this year were not everything she wanted, and on that front, a team like BA Tim could tempt her.

Thank you for your offer. It is not a bad offer and I have no doubt about BA Tim's commitment to success, but I have already made a commitment to Rocket Motorsport for the NSSCRA 11 season.

In Hampton Island, the home-brew beer fiasco was quickly forgotten.

The Sherpa drivers and crews -- now recovered -- scrambled to make up for lost time, refining the set ups of their cars and making the most of happy hour practice. By the time they lined up on the starting grid, everything was in much better shape than it had been in qualifying. They were still near the back of the grid because of how slow they'd been in qualifying, but all three drivers were ready to make up some lost ground. Rinzi was still embarrassed about sharing the beer before trying it himself to make sure it was good, but he put that out of his mind so he could focus on the race.

On the bright side, the fact that all the Sherpa drivers had been near equally bad in qualifying meant Kai Qiang and Tsering Chu were starting in the same row and it was easier for them to work together as they dug themselves out of the hole. They had a little good luck in the timing of cautions and the resulting shake-ups, as well as just having a good car and keeping their focus. Neither of them really expected to win, but they were still going to move up as much as they could. With the cars running well and a couple of lucky breaks working in their favor, they both found their way up to the front.

For most of the race, Tsering thought she was helping her husband so he could make it through to the next round of the Chase, but as they were battling Clarissa and Hendo in the closing laps of the race, well, Hendo seemed to have her sights set on Qiang. She had a strategic reason to go after Qiang since he was another Chaser and he didn't yet have a win in this round of the Chase. Clarissa was already locked into the top 8 because of her win in Delano, and Tsering was already out -- so catching them was not as important as catching Qiang.

From Qiang's point of view, the strategic considerations were similar. Since Clarissa was already locked into the top 8 and Tsering was already out, beating them wasn't very important -- but Hendo was a Chaser still fighting to climb into the top 8. While Qiang and Henderson were locked in an intense duel, each determined to make sure the other didn't win, Tsering had a chance to pull ahead of them both. It was too good an opportunity to pass up. She took the lead with Clarissa following her. Tsering had every intention of letting Qiang win if he could get free from his battle with Hendo -- but that never happened. Instead, Tsering took the checkered flag with a comfortable lead over Clarissa while Qiang was still duking it out with Henderson and cussing up a storm on the radio. Qiang beat Henderson by about half a car-length, but now that they were fighting over third place instead of a win, it ended up not having a big impact on their respective positions in the Chase.

As soon as he crossed the finish line, Qiang realized 3rd place was just fine and there really wasn't anything to cuss about. Tsering had just picked up her first win since returning to NSSCRA, and he was in good shape. Tsering was bouncing off the walls with excitement as it sank in what had just happened. "It feels so good to know I can still win races," Tsering signed happily as people swarmed around he in Victory Lane. "This season got off to a rough start, but I'm back!"

Qiang came over with hugs, kisses, and congratulations for his wife. Once he arrived on the scene, the media found it difficult to interview either of them because they were more interested in each other than the cameras. They kept interrupting each other's interviews, or people who wanted to interview Tsering would ask Qiang to interpret for her -- thus interrupting anything Qiang was saying about his own results. Eventually a stubborn reporter got Qiang to answer a question for the cameras. "I'm happy for Tsering, and I got a good result for myself, so yeah... This was a good race for us."

The reporter asked about the dramatic difference between the two TMW drivers good race results and their terrible performance in qualifying. "We had a lot of people sick while we were trying to get ready for qualifying, but I think everyone is feeling better now," said Qiang.

The week had gotten off to a rough start, but it all turned out just fine in the end and the Sherpalanders were in high spirits as they returned to their homeland to visit friends and family ahead of the Friendship 375.

WELCOME TO YILING INTERNATIONAL FRIENDSHIP CIRCUIT
Taipingxi, China and Sandouping, Pharak

This weekend, China and Pharak will honor the spirit of international cooperation between our nations by cohosting an NSSCRA race at the Yiling border crossing. Nuru Kaji Kuai, a veteran of the Nanjing border garrison who defended the city against Japanese attack in 1938, will be on hand to fire the ceremonial starting gun. The Battle of Nanjing brought Pharak into World War II as an ally of China, which paved the way for the liberation of the Asian mainland and the establishment of the democratic government which governs China today. Although the Nanjing border garrison were outnumbered, they were able to use the river crossing and the city's fortifications to their advantage and stop the Japanese advance until reinforcements arrived, thus protecting the lives of countless Chinese refugees and Chinese-Pharaki residents in the city.

The 3.75 mile road course consists of a highway bridge crossing the Yangtze River and the border between our two nations, as well as the highway's on ramps and a stretch of waterfront where the pit lane is located. The trickiest parts of the course are the slopes and tight curves of the ramps, as well as the border checkpoint on the bridge. At the border checkpoint, there is a guard house blocking the shoulder of the highway and a curb between lanes. Tires and water barrels have been placed to protect the guard houses, but drivers will still need to be careful in this area as they have less maneuvering room than the rest of the bridge. IRACT and NSSCRA have made their best efforts to protect the sides of the bridge so cars do not go over the edge, but Border Control will have rescue boats ready in the unlikely event than anyone does fall into the river.

Main series teams will have hauler parking and garage space on the Sandouping waterfront, while the Everlong teams will use the Delivery Mouse campus in Taipingxi. Everyone entering the track area will need a valid passport as well as tickets or NSSCRA credentials.

The main Yiling border crossing will be closed during races, qualifying, and practice sessions, but there is a ferry a short distance west of the bridge which can be used to cross the river, or people can drive to other bridge crossings up or down the river. These smaller crossings may have heavy traffic, especially since the Everlong series race was relocated on short notice and the bridge closure for the Everlong qualifying session will extend through Friday rush hour. Anyone who needs to cross the border during the race weekend is recommended to allow extra time.

Schedule:

Friday:
2PM Everlong practice
6PM Everlong qualifying

Saturday:
10AM Main series practice
2PM Main series qualifying
7PM Everlong race

Sunday: 2PM Main series race

Additional practice time will be allowed immediately before each race, but the exact length of these practice sessions will depend on how long the earlier events run and whether there is a need to open the bridge to other traffic. Plan on a short shakedown, but if things run smoothly, there may be a longer practice.

Evaluating Bryan Harrison,
by Chelsea Dufresne, Concord Heights Times

Team Cassadaigua has fielded three cars this season, but the vast majority of the coverage has been centered around two of them. Stacie Houston being the leader of the organization has had another fine season even if we are still looking for her first win of the year. Some have been joking around the country that they could see Stacie making the championship four without a win, and then winning in Tundra Falls to take home the championship. The other driver talked about often is Jenna Logan, who is having her best season in NSSCRA. Dagan Airways sponsorship has helped that team, it would appear but it all boils down to Jenna having more confidence at this level as she matures in the series. Our two drivers in the EverLong series have done quite well as Maddie Alexander and Chelsea Taylor are both in the hunt for a championship. We expected Alexander to have a great shot, and she has surely lived up to expectations that were placed on her. She's eighth in points heading into the Delivery Mouse 300. By the way, I love the name of that company. Chelsea Taylor, like Stacie Houston, has not managed a win this year, but is fifth in points. The way the EverLong points shape up, it is unlikely that Alexander and Taylor would both not make the round of eight as long as there was not disaster. Will either of them have a seat in the main series next year? It is likely that, at the very least, the open charter will be available, but is that really worth it, given how limited the #17 gets in a race? So far, just once, is it?

There's another driver out there, the driver of the #4 Blaze, Bryan Harrison. He came here from Rocket Motorsports hoping that better equipment would show him to be a better driver in this series. He is currently 24th in the point standings, so either one of two things have been shown: Bryan Harrison is not as good of a driver as we hoped, or that the equipment in Newmanistan is better and they don't have the drivers to fit the cars. It could be the second option here, because look at Liangmei Li. Recently she had a top 5, and runs 19th in the points in the same car that Harrison vacated last year. If it wasn't for Drake Stevenson picking it up impressively lately, Li could have been in line for 17th, or the best non-Chaser spot. That's a downgrade for Li from last year, but it does seem to mean the Rocket has better equipment than they get credit for. Bryan Harrison has not done much to be excited about all year. His best finish was an 9th at the Tropicorp 500. This is the only time that Harrison has been in the top 10 all year. He has a handful of finishes between 11th and 15th, but has shown absolutely no consistency. It's hard to forgive when all four drivers running a full schedule in their respective series for Team Cassadaigua were Chasers, three of which still have championship hopes. Team Cassadaigua might not be getting the wins, but we're still finishing quite well.

Team Cassadaigua has not made a statement about Harrison's future, but Maddie Alexander is clearly ready. Spacebook will have a say in this, as they need to have their logo show in races much more then it is has so far. Harrison could have been an icon for male drivers in this country, but that has not really happened. Maybe that is because he is from Newmanistan, so it doesn't make him the same as Cassadagan male. Maybe Harrison has had a hard time adjusting, but maybe he just is not as good as we wanted. There is some time for him to make a last gasp run, after all Tsering Chu just seemed to win out of nowhere last week for The Sherpa Empire (though yes, she had been showing good form leading into it). The races in North China will be exciting coming up, and Harrison needs a good result as much as anyone else. If he doesn't, don't be surprised if Team Cassadaigua utilizes the backdrop of the Five Star Mobile 500 in the penultimate race of the year to announce a change.

Today, we’re going to take a different look at Team Blue’s drivers. Tuesday is typically the day off for the drivers. So what do they do on a day like this?

DRAKE STEVENSON’S DAY
Drake Stevenson’s house, Poplar Prairie, Hapilopper City
With nothing to do on this day, Drake Stevenson had his day all planned out. Drink some beer. Get some wings delivered. Watch some trashy television. More specifically, the Norm Harkey Show, a show which proudly advertised its status as the worst show on television. Subject matter on the show typically included people cheating on their significant others with other people (and plenty of other people), families at each other’s throats, women trying to figure out who the father of their child is, and so on and so forth. There was yelling, screaming, and oh yeah, did we mention the fighting?

Norm Harkey, a former mayor of the city of Surrey (served 1988-1996), started hosting the show in 1997, and while it started as a serious, intellectual talk show, the idea of this show being intellectual, in any form these days, was laughable. People got in fights, threw chairs, exposed themselves to the audience, and did all sorts of silly things. Millions of Hapiloppians loved it, and Drake was one of them. This day’s episode, “A Communist, A Drunk and A Wreckerian,” was certain to be entertaining as hell.

While he was in Hampton Island, Drake had been handed a bottle of home-brewed beer by a fellow driver. He was not aware of the issues this home-brewed beer had brought along, so he gleefully chugged it while eating his wings and watching a raging Wreckerian, a raging drunk and a raging communist going at it with each other. But about 20 minutes into the show, he started feeling a little off. He looked at the wings, figured it was the wings causing the sickness and not the home-brewed beer. So he continued to chug the beer.

And then he felt much worse than before and realized the wings had nothing to do with it. He looked at the now empty beer bottle and realized he was about to hurl.

“URRRP… HURRRRRRP….”

Even with a TV tray in front of him, Drake bolted off the sofa, sending the tray and his food flying through the air. He didn’t care. He rushed towards the bathroom and let loose in the toilet. He felt better instantly, and decided next time someone handed him a bottle of home-brewed beer, he’d give it to an obnoxious autograph seeker.

When he came out to the living room having let the contents of his lunch loose, he spotted lemon pepper sauce all over his carpet, wings everywhere, and Norm Harkey’s head of security, a huge bald guy who served as a Hapilopper City cop for a few years, trying to break up the communist and the Wreckerian. So instead of watching trash TV, Drake would spend the rest of the day cleaning up his mess.

TAYLOR HENDERSON’S DAY
Milt’s Salvage Yard, Hapilopper City
Meanwhile, Taylor Henderson was scouring a salvage yard in search of a shitbox automobile, as you’d imagine all famous women in their early 20s would do. Taylor, you see, was looking for an old car so she could compete in an upcoming enduro race at the half-mile dirt track on the grounds of the Hapilopper National Exhibition.

The event, part of the HNE Half-Mile’s “Night of Destruction,” was going to put around 250 cars on the half-mile. Last car standing won $5,000. She was looking through everything, but was having a hard time finding a car that would work just fine for the race. She found an old Preston Skychief sans engine – Marty Lewis probably took the engine to run his WGPC cars, she thought – an old Hamilton Privilege with a blown motor – there were lots of cars like that – and a bunch of old Major Enterprise hatchbacks, too small to run in a race like this.

As she scoured the junkyard, she saw a sign for another race. An endurance race for shitbox cars, a race called the “Shitbox Derby,” to be held at the Hapilopper City Grand Prix Circuit in a few months. The rule, simply put, was the car had to be worth $500 or less, not counting safety equipment, tires and brakes, and the tires and brakes had to be road-legal. The race would be 24 hours in length and would require a few co-drivers.

Taylor took one look at that engine-less Skychief and decided she wanted it. So she went back to her apartment, contacted a friend who owned a tow truck company, and had the friend pick the car up and drop it off at the Team Blue shop.

When Taylor and her friend arrived at the Team Blue shop, team principal Amanda McAllister was leaving to go get some lunch. She stopped to see the two in the truck with the engine-less Skychief and wondered what in the hell was going on.

“What in the hell is this about, Hendo?” Amanda asked.

“I’m gonna fix this car to run in the Shitbox Derby in a few months!” Taylor responded enthusiastically. “I might see if I can get Drake, Frank and Chris to join me. Maybe if we could use the shop to get the car ready because I just have a small apartment near Andrew’s Pub, and maybe we could see if Marty could let us use a couple of engines from the Grand Prix team, what do you say, Amanda?”

Amanda started to protest, but rolled her eyes. There was nothing she could say. Taylor’s mind had been made up, and there was no changing it.

FRANK BRONSON’S DAY
Capital Stadium, Hapilopper City
Meanwhile, in an attempt to clear his mind, Frank Bronson was sitting in a box seat at Capital Stadium, as the HC Nationals got ready to take on the Surrey Wolves. It was a businessman’s special at Capital Stadium, and the Nationals, having had a subpar year this year, wasn’t drawing too many fans to the stadium. Sure, Capital Stadium had recently put in more seats, but this was for the Hapilopper National Baseball Team, not the Nationals.

Frank was still feeling a little downcast as the divorce from Nancy was progressing along. He needed a distraction so he wouldn’t go crazy. But he also wanted to be left alone. He wore dark sunglasses and a cowboy hat, unlike his trademark blue denim cap, so he hoped nobody would bug him. And thankfully, nobody really gave him any mind. They were more focused on the HC Nationals flubbing up another game. Surrey took an 8-0 lead in the top of the 1st, and about 10,000 fans in the 66,000 seat Capital Stadium made their displeasure well known.

Frank stayed for the whole game, even as the 10,000 fans filed out during the game. There were probably 500 fans in the huge stadium as the game neared its completion, and Frank was one of them.

But one of those fans kept staring at Frank. She was an attractive lady, someone who loved watching baseball, among other things. When Frank looked over, he realized that maybe she might be worth talking to. So he meandered over to where she was at and attempted to strike up a conversation with her.

“They said there’d be days like this,” Frank joked.

“No kidding,” the lady responded. “You come here often?”

“Every now and then, my job kind of prevents me from these kind of trips, but I’m going to be doing other things soon, might give me some more time,” Frank replied with a smile.

“What do you do for a living?” she asked.

Frank thought about it for a bit, wondered how she’d respond, and just thought to hell with it and told her the truth.

“I’m a professional race car driver, ma’am,” Frank replied.

The lady looked at Frank and chuckled. She didn’t believe him.

“Are you saying that just to try to impress me or are you really a race car driver?” she asked. “I mean, last night I went to Andrew’s Pub and some guy tried to tell me his name was Drake Stevenson. Looked a little chunky to be a race car driver, if you ask me.”

D’OH! Frank thought. Stevenson got to her first!

“What did he look like?” Frank asked.

“Long hair, almost like a mullet, glasses, clean-shaven, wore a flannel shirt, kind of chunky…” the lady went on. “Why? You know him?”

“Yeah, that’s Stevenson,” Frank replied. “Did you get his phone number?”

“No, but he seemed kind of cool,” she said. “But I figured he was bullshitting me when he said he was Drake Stevenson.”

Frank got out a business card of his, got out a pen, and wrote Drake’s number on the back.

“Here, if you decide to, here’s his number, but if not, mine’s on the front,” Frank replied.
