Recent Results

Hybrid light heavyweights Damian Mendin and Jayce Riley recently competed in the 250th event of Renown Combat International, a top-level organization based in Ranoria. Each competed in Renown's middleweight division, with Mendin defeating Pietro Corelli (69X) by split decision after three rounds and Riley defeating Olivier Thompson (RAN) by leglock submission at 3:55 of Round 2. We congratulate both men on their performances and look forward to further interaction and exchanges with RCI.

Hybrid CC 10: Guerra vs. Siosal-Bissaka

A five-round main event in the women's lightweight division between Marta Guerra (17-1 MMA, 1-1 HCC) and Quebecois grappler Kira Siosal-Bissaka (1-1 HCC) will headline Hybrid CC 10.

A three-round bantamweight bout between Quebecois wrestler Owen McDermott and Delaclav grappler Tadhg O'Heffernan will serve as the co-main event. The main card will also feature a lightweight bout between #5 Patrick Dupont and Jonah Regan.

Hybrid CC 12: Bailey vs. Kristo

A five-round main event for the inaugural Hybrid Heavyweight Championship between Sullivan Bailey (12-0, 2-0 HCC) and Gortolekua's Iivo Kristo (2-0 HCC) will headline Hybrid CC 12.

JASMINE ISLAND PEACOCKS
The Peacocks finally return to the top league after winning the B League title by four points, but they have an uphill battle to hang on. True, they do retain UFL B Golden Ball winner Gregory Moore and Golden Boot winner Alex Gilroy, and they've upgraded their team with Jamarion Colon and Tristan Chicoine, but unfortunately, top tier football is a different level and they haven't leveled up in the same way that Southwest Meredith managed to do this off-season.

Prediction: 16th

COLDWATER
It wasn't so long ago that Coldwater was the surprise runners-up of the league, a performance that got their coach Boris Ishutin the nod to run the national team that made it all the way to the World Cup. The man is still there, but his talent pool is as shallow as ever and his magic may be running out. Its core last year of former Golden Ball winner Margons Kraulis, Silvio Grosskopf, and Aayden Honigsburg are all gone. The midfield consists of Gregg Simmons, who's represented Delaclava at various levels and is still just 22, and Angelo Schimpf, while Christian Fischer should be a capable keeper, but otherwise there's a dearth of players you'd consider as mid-tier capability.

SOUTHWEST MEREDITH
Making the jump from the B league to the A league is notoriously difficult in this system, but this suburban Quinniville club has put together a handy little squad that may be able to hang out. First City's Kian Zimmer minds the net, South Newlandian prospect Noe Fernandes and South Harbor's Oscar Hawkins head up the defense, 19-year-olds Eric Barker (South Harbor) and Jonathan Thomson (Portarubea FC) provide a particularly strong midfield core, and longtime Steckholl United fixture Erik Hovhannisyan looks to show off his goalscoring capabilities just across town.
Last Season: Runners-up, UFL B
Prediction: 14th

THREE CITIES
The Triurbans retain their Golden Glove winner Bob Huffman, but they continue to be a revolving door for offensive talent. This year, it's Mikota Sundecic and Gheni Nasyrov who join the rotation. Nasyrov is a former U18 player and tore it up not long ago in the B league, and he still shared the Golden Boot there in an "off" year. Other prospects like Phoenix White and Lucas Lambton may some year develop into stars. But most likely not this year.

OSSIANA FC
A rebuilding year for this team which has fallen from grace, underperforming last season and seeing Sayer Aylmer and Hubert Adamek gone to free agency. Reginald Spencer, the ever-graceful and capable keeper, continues to handle the pressure and become the emotional leader in the post-Papadimitrou years. With no major additions in free agency, it looks to be another lean year, but one in which teenagers Evangelos Politelis and Aidan O'Galvin will get valuable experience.
Last Season: 13th
Prediction: 12th

METRO TIRANA
Metro Tirana faces a challenge to remain competitive after even with the mercurial talents of Mathias Gretler, they could only manage a tenth-place finish. Their defense sees reinforcements with Endzhela Khardziani (Gatchingerrak Union) and Pau Pan, while Valentyn Pospisil joins Aset Panova to try to mount an effective offense. A balanced approach may serve them well but they don't have the top-level talent to quite get into the upper half of the league.

Prediction: 11th

STECKHOLL UNITED
Competitive sport is a zero-sum game, and Steckholl United has been perhaps the biggest victim of the increased depth of the league. Club leadership has struggled to attract, develop, and retain top talent and battled financial issues in past years. They were relatively active in the transfer window, losing strikers Jack Sanders and beloved figure Erik Hovhannisyan, but adding midfielder Aayden Honigsburg and keeper Robert Alexander to join Edward Anderson, and midfielders Lloyd Jones and Timothy Mitchell. But as it stands, they carry a lot of old, dead weight and don't possess anyone who's been national-team talent in the past five years.
Last Season: 8th
Prediction: 10th

FIRST CITY
A tough team to predict, who by all accounts overachieved past season. They were already an offensively productive team who made a major upgrade with Jack Sanders from Steckholl United, and Gahiji Nader will be a capable, if not better, backstop replacement for Kian Zimmer. DF Timothy McLeod and Kit Atkinson also return. But it's wise to keep in mind what's actually expected of them. There's still plenty of depth and talent in the lead they must contend with.

MANCHESTER
The title defense looks bleak. It was already a surprise enough to get it, leaning heavily on Golden Ball winner Myron Michelakakis as well as defender Toby Barker and striker Rhys Lewis, and keeper Riley Brook certainly did his job as one of the finest at his position. But Manchester was simply left behind and did not make any of the offseason upgrades that would bolster an upstart squad. This is a solid team that put it all together last year, but lightning rarely strikes in the same spot twice.

STOCKTON
Stockton made some big moves this offseason that we've very excited about, luring away Yuezhou striker Jia Duguan from Quebecois club Northandryun Rovers and poaching top B-league keeper Kian Gardner from Juegas. They've managed to put together an all-around solid core including defenders Olivier De Ven and Albert-Jan Fikke, midfielders Rodas Soria and former national team player Geghard Nazarian. The league may have to do an investigation into some of their practices, but until then well done by the front office and we can't wait to see it play out on the field.

CLEOPATRANA SC
They've started to regress to the mean after a few truly excellent years, but this is a team that could perhaps land themselves in IFCF competition. It's perhaps the best midfield in the league, consisting of national team fixtures Kagir Dimayev and Bulat Umarov, bubble player Mark Stone, late bloomer Mino Cabarcos, and...oh, Ryan Keating is back? It's hard to know what else he has to play for, and yet here he is, so it'd be difficult to question his motivation too much. Sayer Aylmer is also a major offensive upgrade for the team. The Pharaohs have uncharacteristic defensive weakness, with the corps headed up by Thiseas Remallis, but if they can hold up, this squad may continue to surprise a few folks.

VALHALLA VIKINGS
One of the most intriguing offseason stories was the Vikings' acquisition of Siovanija and Teusland's ferocious and strong center back Erik Kunst, offloaded by CSKA Quebec. He headlines a crop of foreign players who will be the first of their kind in the new United Football League. It's enough of an upgrade and a huge pickup for a traditionally defensive team who seeks to get back to that playing style - not necessarily one that will make all the difference, but enough of a change to move them into a different tier. Kunst is joined by midfielders Milan Andreasen, Zygmunt Sobol, and promising young keeper Phillippe Belley.

AC ESPENE
They're a bit past their peak years now, but the players of the Golden Age who haven't left for greener pastures - Leo Danjalsson, Nikita Balodis, Steffan Mikines, Vladimir Balakirev - are all still around and still dangerous. And this team isn't afraid to be innovative. They've added the young defender Silvio Grosskopf, joined by Drawkian collegiate Carey Milton. Veteran Frits Vis of The Cordian Isles also is a clever addition to the midfield. Opposing teams may have trouble figuring out some of these new key pieces, and if AC Espene can figure it out first, maybe they do have a title shot once again.

MANCHESTER WOLVES
The Wolves return from a banner year in which they finally inserted themselves in the top echelon of the league and only barely lost the title of the One True Manchester. Golden Boot winner Joey Muldowney returns, and the rest of the world's loss is the Wolves' gain. The same could be said for Odhran O'Glissane, an energetic presence at TIkarotian club Port Tacassam FC, but the club never quite gave him the time of the day. The Wolves retain most of their core, including Andrew Watson and Myron Simallis, and intriguingly will have the aging Kobe de Vroome on the bench this year. They will have to contend with the significant upgrades Cavalry and Catherina FC have made, but they're ready for the challenge.

CAVALRY
Cavalry shocked us all with a third-place finish last season, and they've made some big moves to try to inch just a bit higher. They lose national team defender Marc Champagne to the Q-League, but honors midfielders Slavomir Prusik, Didier Brouillard, and Francis St-Hilaire and Golden Glove winner Divid Bedell remain. And perhaps the biggest change: Roman Tesarik and Dominik Tesar are back to bolster the offense, and for a team that prided itself on defense, this may be the missing puzzle piece.

Prediction: Runners-up

CATHERINA FC
The historic best team of the league is back and they're out for blood. The reality is that they massively underachieved last year through some misfortunes, but the quality of right back Josh Torres and striker Damian Soto is unquestioned. Hubert Adamek joins a very strong midfield corps of Cael McBride, Johan Bussler, and Michael Roberts. And the administration shelled out for Farf forward Alberto Juancho of Euran team Old Boys Club to join Soto and Austin Lang. Maybe we have to re-assess after another lackluster season, but this is still looking like a championship squad until proven otherwise.

SEASON PREVIEW

Twenty-four teams take part this year in Delaclava's second-tier league. No teams are at risk of relegation this year, but the top four teams will have an opportunity to play off for spots in the United Football League next year.

Hybrid Combat Championship

Hybrid CC 10: Guerra vs. Siosal-Bissaka

We've made it to a big one, event number 10! And we take the show to its biggest spot yet - the Hydra Stadium in bright, glittering Santa Lourdes, where stars are born. And with no title fights on this card, there's plenty of opportunity for a diamond in the rough to shine through!

(Fights are listed in the order in which they are fought, with the main event last.)

Preliminary Card
Women's Strawweight: Alyona Kushnir def. Josie Carlos by TKO (punches) at 2:54 of Round 3.

Both women were making their Hybrid debut and hoping to make a statement in the thin women's strawweight division, and it was one-way traffic for Kushnir, who dropped Carlos twice in the first round and continued to pick her apart before ramping up the pace in the third round. Carlos wouldn't go down against the fence, but she wasn't defending herself any longer and the referee stopped the action with just over two minutes remaining.

Lightweight: Jeremias Tiidrik (GTK) def. Brad Kuzi by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).

The Gortolekuan grappler rebounded from a high-profile defeat to Algernon Pope with a victory against the Delaclav debutant. Kuzi came out with great aggression and rocked Tiidrik with some heavy hooks, but once Tiidrik brought the fight to the ground, the momentum shifted in his direction and never turned back. Tiidrik had the endurance to impose his wrestling and Kuzi gassed early, powerless to stop it.

Women's Bantamweight: Selvaggia Nigrelli def. Shawnee George by KO (body kick) at 3:25 of Round 1.

Nigrelli has shown a reputation for getting it done any way, and making her return from a Smut Island victory, Nigrelli vanquished the newcomer with ease, hitting George with a kick to the liver that just folded her. Nigrelli will be looking for a ranked fight next after two consecutive knockouts.

Women's Strawweight: Emelia Monroe def. Marije van Streepen by submission (rear-naked choke) at :32 of Round 2.

Both ladies are dropping down from the stacked flyweight division to the less crowded strawweight division, and Monroe seemed especially well suited for this class, using lightning quickness to penetrate the range of van Streepen and hurt her in the clinch. Monroe scored the early takedown in the second, and van Streepen knew how to make it back to her feet, but she left her back exposes just a smidge too long and Monroe stole the opening to lock in the choke.

Light Heavyweight: David Colombres def. Andrew Hubbard by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).

Hubbard was the favorite despite his loss to Siraj Benayoun and Colombres' previous victory, and he put on the pressure early in a primarily stand-up fight. However, he used up his stamina on those first-round efforts, allowing Colombres to pick him apart, busting up his face badly in the third round in particular. Colombres clearly felt he could get the finish but was wise to contain himself and pick his shots intelligently. It didn't get him the finish, but it got him a clear win on the cards.

Women's Strawweight: Aurora Camacho def. Thea Mepschen by technical submission (guillotine choke) at :48 of Round 1.

Two more fighters dropping down from the flyweight division, but all the pre-fight talk was about Camacho, an impressive winner by submission on Smut Island, and she got the job done even more quickly this time around. A few hard jabs got Mepschen shooting for a panic takedown, leaving her neck far too exposed. Camacho latched on with a guillotine choke and pulled guard to commit to it. The fighters were dry, the choke was tight, and the fight was over before Mepschen could even tap.

Middleweight: Juanma Jacobson (UAD) def. Mike Bartha by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).

Jacobson gave middleweight champion Todd Makar his toughest fight, and a fight against newcomer Bartha gave Jacobson the opportunity to reinforce his merit with his first win. Jacobson controlled Bartha for more than ten minutes of the fight, although Bartha managed to prevent significant damage and did some damage off his back with slicing elbows, earning himself the second round, to Jacobson's surprise. But it was still Jacobson who got his name read out.

Main Card
Lightweight: #5 Patrick Dupont def. Jonah Regan by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).

With Kamil Rušil and Lee Wood likely to rematch for the world title, the rest of the division is just angling to win fights and get the next shot after that. Dupont earned a number next to his name with a win, while Regan is hoping to bounce back after a loss to Wood. Dupont's boxing was crisp and tight, and Regan had a hard time reading the uppercut, which became Dupont's bread and butter. In the third round, Dupont took his pedal too far off the gas, conceding a takedown and some control time and giving Regan the frame, but the fight was never truly competitive.

Light Heavyweight: William Rose def. Siraj Benayoun by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).

This result turns the division somewhat on its head. Benayoun was hyped as a potential title contender, but he never got out of first gear in this fight and Rose dominated him rather easily in the wrestling. Benayoun could have saved some face with a more competitive fight, but it's hard to think he's in the promotion's good graces after that one. Meanwhile, Rose has himself a win but hasn't shown himself to be a wildly entertaining fighters. Stay tuned - and anyone out there, if you've got light heavyweights, they may get fast tracked to a title shot.

Middleweight: Hector Robillard (QUE) def. #4 Mikael Andersen by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).

Robillard was given a tough test, a ranked opponent, in his first fight, but he is an incredibly diverse striker, effectively combining boxing and Muay Thai and overwhelming Andersen with precise, high-volume strikes. He outpaced Andersen almost throughout the fight, only slowing down when Andersen was able to land some hard, low leg kicks that stopped Robillard's effective movement and giving Andersen a more stationary target to chop down. But Andersen couldn't quite get the finish, and Robillard gets the win and the ranking in a competitive, high-action fight.

Bantamweight, co-main event: Owen McDermott (QUE) def. Tadhg O'Heffernan by technical submission (arm-triangle choke) at 1:04 of Round 1.

McDermott was another highly-rated Quebecois prospect, so much so that he was given this co-main event spot. And he came for a good time, not a long time, quickly getting a high-amplitude takedown. O'Heffernan has an active guard and was ready to scramble, but it was actually too much from him and McDermott locked in the triangle choke and passed to side control to get the angle he needed. O'Heffernan, ever the crazy man, refused to tap and went out punching air.

Women's Lightweight, main event: Marta Guerra vs. Kira Siosal-Bissaka (QUE) is a unanimous draw (47-47, 47-47, 47-47).

This is it, the main event, and it's a big one! Brian Burchess has stated that Leentje Lous will be one half of the women's lightweight title fight, and much to the dismay of Sophie Binder and Emily Jackson, each at 2-0 records in the promotion, the winner of Guerra and Siosal-Bissaka - each 1-1 - will match up against Lous. KSB has already lost to Lous, but either woman would match up favorably against the brawler. The fight starts and Guerra looks as sharp as ever, making good reads and quickly picking up on KSB's patterns to land swift counter hooks and jabs, as well as some stinging calf kicks that slow down KSB's pressure and takedown attempts. The most that KSB can do is initiate some clinch positions, but it's an area where Guerra feels comfortable enough. The striker easily takes the first two rounds. The third round looks like more of the same, but it's a positive sign when KSB gets one of her patented judo throws and gets Guerra to the ground. But wait, that one really hurt Guerra! She's stunned, and KSB takes the opportunity to rain down punches and elbows from the stop. Michelle Dye warns Guerra to improve her position, and she does and pulls KSB in close for long enough periods to stop the damage. But KSB continues to get space and slice open cuts on Guerra's face and nose. Total domination. Guerra's gameplan is now completely changed and her priority for the fourth round is to stay on the feet. It limits her striking capabilities greatly, but she manages against all odds to defend KSB's takedown attempts, and all that's left in the round is a good handful of counter jabs landed by Guerra - one of which got KSB's nose flowing blood - that should steal her the frame. That was Guerra's last stand, and KSB takes her down early. She doesn't know what the scorecards say, so she stays aggressive, and Guerra, frankly, is trying to survive. Remarkably, we reach the final bell. Guerra clearly won three rounds, but KSB's two rounds were nasty. In the end, all three judges see the third 10-8, the fifth 10-9. It's a draw on all three scorecards!

Guerra was dominated for large stretches of the fight, but KSB's striking defense has shown considerable holes. Meanwhile, Binder has two first-round finishes, including a TKO of Robin Gilbert - who beat Guerra. Jackson's performance have been less thrilling, but she has a win over a very capable Carine Renner, who put on a great show on Smut Island against KSB. Brian Burchess has a tough decision to make in the next few days.

Welcome to the Kobalt Arena in Coleport! It's been too long without organized fights in the world. Let's get right to it!

Main Card

Women's Bantamweight: Elsie Howard (UAD) def. Tia Jenkins by submission (triangle choke) at 3:53 of Round 1.

A masterclass from the Adaik'sian national champion, who fell short in a five-round showcase bout in the sweaty, raucous conditions of Smut Island. Here, in the comparatively bland setting of the Kobalt Arena, Howard took down the striker Jenkins at will and gave her all kinds of trouble with heavy top control and strikes before locking in the arm triangle choke and getting the tap in the first frame. A fine way to get a first Hybrid win at long last and move on to better things.

Light Heavyweight: Jibril Tarik def. Damian Mendin by TKO (punches) at :51 of Round 2.

A wacky light heavyweight division gets even wackier. The belt has not been inaugurated, waiting for two contenders to make their move for the belt in a shallow division. Mendin seemed to be a likely candidate after picking up high-profile wins at Smut Island and then at Renown's 250th event. He looked the part with a measured and highly effective performance in the first round, mixing up strikes from the clinch, fence control, and takedowns to easily win the first round. But a check hook from Tarik early in the second wobbled Mendin and Tarik swarmed, finishing the job. Now it is Tarik himself who puts himself in the conversation for the belt. David Colombres, Jayce Riley, and Jesus-Ali Kintama loom as other possible contenders; who knows what is next for those four.

Bantamweight: Mason Morgan def. Virgilio Hernandez by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).

Morgan's wrestling-heavy attack wore down Hernandez's jiu-jitsu style in the second half of the fight, easily pulling away with the last two rounds. A strong performance certainly would have put either man in the bantamweight title picture, and Morgan called for a title fight against the Quebecois hotshot Owen McDermott. But Morgan forgot about one Rustem Bolatov, who has been far more impressive in the Hybrid cage so far, and Morgan has yet to make a statement performance. Bolatov and McDermott seems like the likelier matchup, although bantamweight might be too shallow to put a belt on the line just yet.

Women's Flyweight, co-main event: Maria Roman def. Tiwa Zigane by unanimous decision (48-47, 48-47, 49-46).

Originally the scheduled main event, Roman was looking for a big fight after an impressive knockout on Smut Island. Zigane, meanwhile, was a favorite in the Flyweight Grand Prix before being bounced by Reika Nasser and then losing a showcase fight to Shreya Kamara on Smut Island. Zigane wants back in the title picture, but moreover, she just needs a win in Hybrid. It was a very evenly matched fight that stayed almost entirely on the feet, with two of three judges having the bout tied after four rounds (one judge had Roman ahead 39-37). Indeed, it was Roman who clearly pulled away in the fifth round with a stiff jab that knocked back Zigane early in the round and then a snapping high kick that wobbled her in the dying seconds, and may well have ended the fight if there were more time left on the clock. Roman earns a five-round win and seems poised to move into the top five soon. Zigane remains an exciting and dangerous fighter, but one very much at a crossroads.

Heavyweight, main event: Evan Dawson def. Rhett Day by unanimous decision (48-47, 48-47, 48-47).

Dawson's first and best title chance evaporated in front of the heavy-fisted Gortolekuan Iivo Kristo. Dawson gladly jumped at the opportunity to reclaim his spot in line, but Rhett Day - a versatile and athletic heavyweight with a Hybrid knockout and submission to his name - is one tough customer. Dawson, perhaps wary of his chin in the aftermath of the Kristo fight, was more than willing to engage in the clinch and ground game, doing some real damage with elbows in the middle rounds, while Day did well in long stretches to keep Dawson at bay with his reach. Like the fight before them, the judges had it 2-2 going into the fifth, and to the delight of the crowd, both fighters abandoned caution, each scoring knockdowns that may have been more to fatigue than wooziness. In the end, it was Dawson whose cardio held up in the fifth round and generated more striking volume, earning him the decision victory in the main event. In his post-fight interview, Dawson's wishes were clear: "Kaiser Belfort, you fucking bitch, stop ducking me! If you don't come here and take your beating, I'll come to Ranoria and kick your ass!" It's a tall ask, but worst case, important fights against Dom Yonekura, Andrew d'Arnaud, and Juan Domingo Arce are very much on the table. Best case scenario, Kaiser Belfort is notoriously easy to provoke...

A five-round main event for the inaugural Hybrid Women's Featherweight Championship between Kamyla Ramos (23-8, 2-0 HCC) and Greetje van der Weegh (36-11, 2-0 HCC) will headline Hybrid CC 12. The planned Heavyweight Championship fight between Sullivan Bailey and Iivo Kristo has been rescheduled (see below).

A three-round co-main event will be contested by former Welterweight Grand Prix finalist and #1-ranked contender Bruno Ferreira, and #4-ranked contender Mudario Dias.

The main card will also feature a three-round bout by #1-ranked women's flyweight contender Eloise Taylor and Vika Lotuma.

The event will be held at Sluiten MegaCenter in Espene, Grote Vrede.

Women's Strawweight: Jeannine Roush def. Helene Morin-Chaissac (QUE) by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).

The former Quebecois national team member in freestyle wrestling has worked hard to improve her well-rounded mixed martial arts game, but she looked completely at sea against the cleaner striking of Jeannine Roush and looked lost trying to impose her own strategy. To the dismay of the crowd, Roush seemed content keeping Morin-Chaissac at distance and picking her apart, not taking too many unnecessary risks that would put her in position to get taken down. It may have lulled the fans somewhat, but it was an easy path for Roush to sidestep a major challenge and to stake her claim to a title shot, coming off a comprehensive victory against Lacfroidian bronze medalist judoka Salome de Costa (who won earlier in the night) that proceeded very similarly.

Light Heavyweight: Jayce Riley def. David Colombres by submission (leglock) at :25 of Round 1.

That was lightning quick! Riley is a rare grappling specialist in the heavier divisions, and he made a name for himself by picking up a leglock against Olivier Thompson in Renown's 250th event. Faced with a massive test in David Colombres, Riley got his favorite finish even faster, taking advantage of an ill-advised takedown by Colombres and getting hold of the left leg on the sprawl. It was game over from there. As the dust at light heavyweight begins to settle, Riley now has a three-submission streak in top-level competition, and he is virtually guaranteed a shot at the light heavyweight title. The question is: who against?

Women's Flyweight: Vika Lotuma def. Eloise Taylor by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).

After blowing a big lead in the Grand Prix semifinal against current champion Naja Farah, Eloise Taylor has been looking for a fight to get another shot at the flyweight queen. Enter Vika Lotuma, an extremely unorthodox and creative fighter who missed entry to the Grand Prix but has picked up two impressive victories since. Even so, this felt like a major step up for Lotuma and a major step down for Taylor, a high-risk, low-reward situation for the #1-ranked fighter. Regardless, Taylor signed on the dotted line, and here we are. Some might have been expecting primarily a striking battle, but Lotuma dominated the bulk of the first two rounds with wrestling and ground control. Taylor managed to stay on the feet better in the final frame, but the damage was gone. It's a strange result; it doesn't really seem to put Lotuma in the title discussion (although it will move her up in the rankings), yet it very much knocks out Taylor. There are big flyweight fights coming up - Shreya Kamara vs. Chloe Owens next week, then Naja Farah defends after Alina Mojica. We'll see where we're at when the dust settled.

Welterweight: Bruno Ferreira def. Mudario Dias by submission (guillotine choke) at :06 of Round 2.

Also a #1 contender, Ferreira is looking for a bounce-back victory after losing the title fight to Diego Gusman. Dias has put together a 2-1 record in Hybrid, including a decision win over Ghougas Kassarjian that landed Dias in the rankings and with a big opportunity ahead of him. The grappling specialist Dias actually controlled the first round and threatened multiple submissions. Then, in one of the more bizarre sequences you'll see, Dias came out of the corner immediately looking for the takedown, stuck his head in, fell into a guillotine from Ferreira, and tapped very quickly. Huh. Perhaps it was a very tight squeeze from Ferreira, but a BJJ black belt like Dias should have had some options before tapping. Anyway, Ferreira gets back on track, and Dias has some questions to answer.

Main event, for the Hybrid CC Women's Featherweight Championship: Greetje van der Weegh vs. Kamyla Ramos by KO (punch) at 2:12 of Round 2.

It's championship time! In the blue corner, we have Greetje van der Weegh, a judoka with nasty power who got this title shot with a knockout of Cheyenne Logan. In the red corner, we have Kamyla Ramos, the first women's featherweight to two wins, and a more balanced fighter. van der Weegh managed to get Ramos to the ground early and control her to win the round, but not much in the way of submissions. In the second round, Ramos managed to defend a couple of takedowns, and began to grow confident, coming into the pocket with less hesitation and beginning to open up. But there's the danger, because BOOM! A right hook by van der Weegh sneaks in and wobbles Ramos. She staggers back. van der Weegh steps forward and pumps a big overhand left and Ramos is out cold! GREETJE VAN DER WEEGH is the first Hybrid CC women's featherweight champion!

A five-round main event for the inaugural Hybrid Heavyweight Championship between Sullivan Bailey (12-0, 2-0 HCC) and Gortolekua's Iivo Kristo (2-0 HCC) will headline Hybrid CC 13.

A three-round co-main event will be contested by #2-ranked women's flyweight contender Shreya Kamara and Chloe Owens.

The main card will also feature bouts with #2-ranked welterweight contender Matthias Toussaint and William Pymer; #2 middleweight Brad Carlson against #4 Andrew Ward; and the debut of Sixty-ninE X light heavyweight 金玉耶蘇-亜里 (Jesus-Ali Kintama) against Siraj Benayoun.

The preliminary card will be headlined by #3 women's bantamweight Lana Byrd against Julia Coleman.

The event will be held at The Red and Black in Manchester, Delaclava.
