I'm in.

(DUmb Question: Do I just join as a single team, or can I have seven different teams of each state in the UCP?)
IC Name: Celtic Union
-The UCP has disbanded and now has turned into independent nations working closely as the Celtic Union
-Welshman is stuck in a garbage chute in an attempt to flee his wife
-Irishman makes a signal fire climbing up a mountain in Kerry Country; accidentally sets entire mountain town on fire
-Scotsman has foot amputated after he shoved it too far up his girlfriend's ex's arse
-5 drunken men dead in Cornwall after attempting to stop an oncoming train dressed as Gandalf

A participant may only enter up to two teams, a main nation and a puppet. Seven, unfortunately, is not an option.

Not a dumb question at all :)

WORLD LACROSSE CHAMPIONSHIPS 30
OFFICIAL HOSTING BID

Hello there! As Cassadaigua returns to the World Lacrosse Championships, we would like to do a little more then just participate in the tournament. We would like to bring the tournament to Cassadaigua to re-establish this great tournament in the eyes of our people. You might not be old enough to know that the World Lacrosse Championships was the first ever event that Cassadaigua hosted, but it was. That was way back in the seventh edition. The tournament really has come a long way, but in that time the great sport of lacrosse has never changed.

I) Format

Any logical format will be used depending on the number of signups. Group sizes will be even. At the moment, there are 23 signups, so the obvious target number would be 24.

If 24 teams: Four Groups of Six
If 25 teams: Five Groups of Five
If 28 teams: Four Groups of Seven

Competition will be a double round robin, with each nation playing its groupmates once at home, and once away. This is not a “all games in host nation” bid. This allows you to treat your home fans to the group stage games in hopes of making it to Cassadaigua for the playoffs.

Playoffs: In the 24 and 28 nation scenario, the top three teams in each group advance to the playoffs. Group winners (automatically seeds 1-4) will receive a first round bye. Seeds 5-12 will have to play in the first round. In the 25 nation scenario, the top two teams per group will advance, as well as two wild cards (next best two teams). This will be set up again with the four best group winners getting a first round bye. The “worst” group winner, as the #5 seed, will have to participate in the first round.

In the event of 30, 32, or more signups, playoff fields will be expanded to 16.

Tiebreakers: H2H, H2H GD, Overall GD, GF.
If further criteria needed to determine a playoff team: Tiebreaker Game.
If further criteria needed to simply determine seeding: “Coin toss” (higher cumulative RP bonus).

II) Scorination and RP Bonus

I will use xkoranate, and the current WLC ranks. RP bonus is extremely generous. This is especially important in a smaller tournament like this. When awarding RP bonus, quality is valued more then quantity but everything and anything is appreciated. A roster bonus is provided. RP bonus is cumulative throughout the tournament, from beginning to end, with no reductions made in it any time.

III) Experience

View my signature. My first ever event to host was WLC 7. Since then, I’ve (co) hosted the World Cup twice, the Cup of Harmony thrice, and a Baptism of Fire. Also, I have hosted multiple World Baseball Classics, the World Bowl, the World Cup of Hockey, and the International Basketball Championships.

While I am not known for fancy logos, I am known for reliable and consistent cutoffs, just ask around. In the rare, though possible times I may have difficulty, nations are notified in advance. Typically, when I make the initial schedule, I know what days I will be busier then others and plan accordingly at that time. The tournament will be in good hands.

OOC Experience: The user played varsity lacrosse all four years in high school. The sport is not foreign to me!

So, what do you say, let’s make Cassadaigua’s return to the WLC extra big and bring it here!

Sign-ups updated to Northwest Kalactin.

It is now time to vote on our two host bids. Anyone signed up may vote. You have three options to rank:

1. Vote for Velestria
2. Vote for Cassadaigua
3. Re-open nominations

The alternative is to abstain, which you may choose to do. You must either rank the above options or abstain entirely; abstaining is not an option to be ranked. Please send all votes to World Lacrosse Championships. Voting will close approximately three days from the time of this post.

Host voting is now closed.

By a unanimous selection from all 8 nations that voted, Cassadaigua is granted the right to host WLC 30. I hereby hand off the tournament to the host. Signups will remain open until they close them at their preferred number. As of this post, there are 25 participants (updated thru Libonesia).

Now celebrate, be merry, and get ready for some lacrosse after the holidays!

As 28 is a little more desirable then 25, let's see if we can get to 28 by about 8pm EST tonight. This would require two more people. Otherwise, I will begin the everything thread while at 25 and have to exclude St Saratoga.
