Racing, the way it ought to be! (Xanneria up front)

Roman Gwinnet leads a pack of three

In what is probably the most successful race to date for the KRD Team Iona cars, with Golden Boy Gwinnett getting 12th, and Walters and Bombelli also getting top-25s. Walters was top qualifier for the Xanneria team. A swift departure from Walters early season exploits where he was DNQing left and right. New improvements to the car have helped immensely plus new qualifying strategies have helped too. The race didn't exactly get off to a smooth start for the KRD boys. Bombelli and Lisanderite driver Lourdina Westgrens spun early on and while Westgrens got stuck in the sand, Bombelli wasn't stuck and got back out before losing a lap. This may have helped Bombelli as he pit and was running top-10 for a chunk of the race too. A caution for Central Shaneville's David Land meant that now that everyone was on the same strategy with pitstops. This actually hurt Eddie Walters Jr as there were several incidents on the laps immediately after the restart one in particular where Cocoabo #78 drilled the left side of Walters car spinning Walters out and completely messing up the 78's suspension. This caused the bird to drop out of the race right on the spot without any contact with the wall. Meanwhile the race would play out with several incidents as brakes tended to be an issue, along with other mechanical issues such as Newmanistan who had all three of its cars overheat and one of them dropped out due to it. While the issues with Bombelli and Walters meant both could only muster top25s it's still seen as improvement for a team that had been struggling. Next week the teams will show up to a half-dirt, half-oaved track operated by Tropicorp.

----o-֎-o----

‭The Sherpa comedy duo Kami and Kusang had a segment on their show called "Rat Race," in which they played video clips filmed at NSSCRA tracks and poked fun at the people in the clips. In previous episodes, they had parodied the way Liangmei Li posed for the camera, poked fun at the bizarre items that Vilitans brought to "We'll Fry It," and questioned why Skip Stiller thought anybody would pay to see strippers that looked like NSSCRA drivers (especially if they looked like him).

‭Kami took center stage to introduce their newest edition of "Rat Race." "You know how rat-eaters complain that they can't find a date because Sherpa guys are taking all the women? Well, good news: Kai Qiang has found a solution!"

‭They cut to a scene of drivers and crews milling about the pits during a practice session at the Dealmaker Valley Battleground. Kai Qiang walked onto the screen with Mendok Sherpa close behind. "Hey, wait up! I still want to chain you to my bed and tear all your clothes off!" she called after him. "Hey!"

‭Qiang turned around and motioned for her to keep her voice down. "You know people can hear you?"

‭"What?"

‭"YOU'RE YELLING, MENDOK! NOT EVERYONE'S HEARING IS AS BAD AS YOURS!"

‭Kami and Kusang were pretty good at keeping a straight face so they didn't disrupt the show by laughing uncontrollably at their own jokes, but they still giggled a little. "I want to know how that conversation started," said Kusang. "Like, how does that even happen?"

‭"That's a good question," said Kami.

‭"I mean, I think I'm a pretty good-looking guy, and nothing like that has ever happened to me, so how does it happen to a guy that has to show his ID to get into a men's room?"

‭"Hey, he's a big celebrity for the people who watch this stuff."

‭"I'm a celebrity too," said Kusang.

‭"Maybe you should have gone into racing instead of comedy," said Kami.

‭At home in their living room, Mendok's parents were not amused. "Is that really her?" her mother asked in disbelief. "It can't be... She wouldn't do that..."

‭"No, that's her," Mendok's father said coldly. "I knew it was a mistake letting her get into this racing nonsense! And now she's making a fool of herself on national television chasing after some filthy little chink!"

‭"I mean, he is kind of cute, but still..."

‭"You think that Zhuang dog is cute???"

‭"Yeah," said Mendok's mother. "Sure, he looks more like a court eunuch than Prince Charming, but he's still very graceful."

‭"I'll make him a eunuch if he doesn't stay away from our daughter!"

‭"Gyelbu, you're overreacting. Yeah, it's embarrassing, but it's not like he's beating her or anything."

----o-֎-o----

‭Meanwhile in Greythorne, Kai Qiang and Mendok Sherpa were blissfully unaware that their conversation had been caught on tape, never mind that it would be aired on national television. Well, "blissfully" might be a slight overstatement in Qiang's case. He was still sore from the crash with Li at the Ferret National Autodrome, and he knew this race was going to be a real test of endurance. But he was determined to have a good run anyway. The crash with Li had knocked him down in the points standings, and he needed to make up for it now if he wanted to make it to the Chase.

‭The #90 team was scrambling with their own race day preparations, and Mendok was preoccupied with that.

‭As the race got under way, the drivers from the Sherpa Empire were competitive, but not really dominant.

‭In the later laps, Qiang managed to overtake Knight, Tiones, McCurty, and Chu to put himself near the front of the field; but then he got into one of his usual on-the-track battles with Skip Stiller. They raced each other hard, as was their custom, but with the wreckfest in the Ferret Lands fresh in everyone's mind, they were both careful. Neither man wanted to risk taking each other out of the race and ruining his own chance for a strong finish.

‭In the end, Stiller picked up his first win of the season and Qiang finished 4th. He seemed to come in 4th a lot. It was good enough to keep him a serious contender, but he would have rather been winning.

‭He did his best to look dashing and sound coherent in post-race interviews, but he was totally exhausted. He would have much rather been having a quiet drink somewhere rather than dealing with the crowds and fuss at the track. Having grown up in the countryside, he had never really gotten used to crowds. He was looking forward to getting back to his lodging and falling into bed -- in his own bed, not Mendok Sherpa's.

NSSCRA 7 | Round 8 Preview: Tropicoast Beach Course

Tropicorp 500, Tropicoast Beach Course, Tropicoast, Tropicorp

Image

Tropicoast Beach Course :: Information

About the Track:
Image

Track Location: Tropicoast, Tropicorp, Atlantian Oceania
Lap Record: 107.00 s
Track Lap Length: 4.1 Mile

Image Image

The race begins on the Tropicorp Motorway; an access road that runs along the coast connecting different primary areas of the Tropicorp campus, Tropicoast itself and nearby facilities. While it is typically considered a two lane road and racing will be tight on the paved main straightway when compared with the compacted sand on the back straightaway, drivers should be able to fit three-across without having to dip their wheels into the sand. Not too far down the road past the start finish line is the original Tropicorp headquarters building which now serves as the Tropicorp visitor center. The iconic Tropicorp sign surrounded by Palm Trees can still be seen and will provide an excellent photo backdrop particularly for the Team Tropicorp cars.

Image Image

After passing the Tropicorp Visitor Center the road will begin to bend into an elbow as drivers will begin setting themselves up for the big curve and the transition off the paved surface. There is still plenty of room to pass after the elbow, however as drivers scream down one of the longest paved straightaways in motorsports. As drivers approach the Dart billboard they will begin to see the big curve climbing into the sky in the distance and will need to begin preparing themselves for braking to set up for the difficult transition from the paved surface to the compacted sand.

Image Image

As drivers prepare to make the big left hand curve off the paved surface, any drivers who brake too late or have an issue with their cars will have two options. Drivers may opt to continue straight down the paved road through the lightweight swing signs marking the end of the racing surface if they have an issue with their car and are not planning to continue in the race. Otherwise, drivers who miss the entry to the corner should still be able to make the turn and scrub speed as they climb the banking with the brakes applied. Some drivers may choose to climb the banking purposely to carry additional speed both into and out of the large turn installed by the Tropicorp locals both as a safety measure to allow cars to scrub speed off after flying down the nearly two-mile long paved straightaway.

Image Image

While drivers will have been mostly constrained to a 2-3 lane wide paved surface on the front straightaway in order to maintain maximum grip and speed, once they exit from the big curve they will open up into a wide open straight of compacted sand that will allow half the field to spread out and battle side by side if need be. The compacted sand is of slightly different color than the un altered natural beach sand and drivers will know the difference if they stray too close to the water line, though there is plenty of room for error on the racing surface before a driver would be in danger of going off into the unprepared surface. The inside of the course opens up to allow a pitlane before the tight, flat curve at the start/finish end of the course.

Image Image

Unlike the big curve at the other end of the course, drivers will not be able to carry a lot of speed into the flat curve and anyone that does may find themselves into the orange guard rail fencing and out of the event. By far the slowest part of the course, the flat curve will allow fans in the grandstands an opportunity to see all the cars and take nice pictures with the large Tropicorp billboards in the background at the center of curvature. As drivers exit the curve it will be a race to regain traction on the paved surface - taking a wider exit may allow contact patch with the pavement sooner but will increase distance travelled and may result in a slick paved surface due to kick back from the compacted sand. Taking a tighter exit to the turn may result in slower entry speed but a cleaner more natural transition back to the paved surface for the spring back to the finish line just meters ahead.

Image

Fan Access:

Fans will watch the race from the large Main Grandstand at the flat curve and a series of smaller grandstands along the front straightaway on either side of the Start/Finish line. There will be 'Campground' style access in the center of the course however there is no entry/exit from the center of the course when the race is under green flag conditions. There will be an employee-only viewing party at the Tropicorp Visitors Center while fans will also be able to utilize grandstands along the front straightaway at the transition to the Big Curve.

FanZone Information

Tropicorp Racing Supply will host their 'Pit Stop Challenge" outside the flat curve where fans will be able to test their ability to change an NSSCRA tyre or act as the fuel person so long as they first sign a release form indemnifying Tropicorp and the Lonngeylin Ring facility of any injury that may occur as they attempt to set the fast times to qualify for a daily prize drawing from Tropicorp.

The Cocoabo Preservation Society will be on hand setting up a special Cocoabo Zone in the area outside the front straightaway past the Start-Finish line where trained Cocoabo will be on hand demonstrating some of their skills.

Cocoabo #28 set for return at Tropicoast Beach Course

Cocoabo #28 testing at the Cocoabo Park Circuit in Cocoabo Forest
After missing a number of events due to injuries suffered in a rollover incident during the Toys '4' All 500 at the Lonngeylin Ring, Cocoabo #28 has been cleared to return to action after passing several tests imposed by the Cocoabo Enrichment and Enhancement Project team at Cocoabo Park. Cocoabo #28 has been running simulated races at the Cocoabo Park Circuit in the Cocoabo Forest to prepare themselves for a return to action and now with the path cleared for the Cocoabo to return, Team Tropicorp looks set to once again have three cars in the field just in time for their home event. While Team Tropicorp had already sold off the race charter spot previously used by Cocoabo #28 earlier in the season, they are believed to be working two angles to ensure Cocoabo #28 is on the track for the Tropicorp 500. While discussions with Central Shaneville for transfer of their third charter have been hindered by updated rules regarding charter transfers imposed by the NSSCRA sanctioning body, Team Tropicorp are expected to use the Open Charter to get Cocoabo #28 a guaranteed spot in the field for the Tropicorp 500. Turorian company twii.tur had previously signed on to sponsor Cocoabo #28 in a handful of races and is expected to reprise the role when Cocoabo #28 returns to the circuit but with the race being on home track in Tropicoast, Tropicorp may wish to take a more prominent role on the car than they had earlier in the season.

Regardless, Cocoabo #28 will have their work cut out for them to keep up with teammates Cocoabo #78 and Euroli Islander who have showed slow but steady improvement in the team since Cocoabo #28 went out with injury. While the duo struggled in the previous race in Greythorne including an accident that took Cocoabo #78 out of the race, the previous event was a highlight for the Team Tropicorp drivers as they finished 10th and 11th respectively in the teams best showing to date. Now the team will be searching for its first Top 5 finish in front of their home fans and employees at the Tropicoast Beach Course.

Centur Tiones :: #2 Tiones Lumber Dart
:: WINS: [ 0 ] :: TOP 5: [ 3 ] :: TOP 10: [ 5* ] -:- POLES: [ 0 ]

Centur Tiones lined up on the grid in unfamiliar territory next to the cars from Greythorne and One Jamaica.

Centur Tiones and the #2 Tiones Lumber Dart overcame a terrible performance in qualifying to fight back and finish in the Top 10 at the Dealmaker Valley Battleground NSSCRA Season 7 Round 7 event in Greythrone. Tiones was one of the fastest cars on the track throughout the first half of the event picking off backmarkers two and three at a time to climb up into the top 25. After reaching the top 25, however, it became a little more difficult for Tiones to advance their position as the opponents were much faster and much less willing to concede a spot regardless of what stage of the race it was in.

Tiones worked their way up into the Top 15 by the races halfway point and in the final stage had worked into the Top 10. With about 10 laps remaining Tiones got past the battling duo of Vangaziland's #25 Kev Schorebrook and The Sherpa Empire's #90 Tsering Chu to move into the 8th spot where he would finish the race. It was a welcome return to the Top 10 for Tiones coming off a poor performance in the Ferret Lands taking themselves out of the race by making a mistake while attempting to overtake and crashing into the outside wall. Had Tiones finished a little higher up on the leaderboard the #2 Tiones Lumber team may also have been in consideration for Driver of the Day honors after advancing nearly 30 positions from their qualifying speed to the end of the race. With the Top 10 performance, Tiones climbed back up to 6th in the NSSCRA drivers standings and third amongst drives that have not yet won a race this season. Tiones also re-claimed the top spot in the standings amongst Vilita and Turori motorsports drivers after Yraaga Gilli'i - the only Vilita and Turori Motorsports driver to have yet won a race this season, failed to finish the event in Greythrone and dropped 27 points behind Tiones in the standings.

River "Shark" Suzgar II :: #14 Vilitan Tourism / Vilaye Energy Drink / Toys '4' All Dart
:: WINS: [ 0 ] :: TOP 5: [ 2 ] :: TOP 10: [ 3 ] -:- POLES: [ 1* ]

Image
For the second consecutive event River 'Shark' Suzgar II started the race from the outside pole position with no one in front of them as the green flag dropped. This week the pole sitter and winner of the Vilaye Energy Drink Pole Award would be Glorious Free Republic Motorsports driver Skip Stiller and the rest of the field knew that none of the Saint Kanye drivers had yet won a race this season with the potential there to shut one of them out of the playoffs if they could continue to deny them the checkered flag. Defending series champion River 'Shark' Suzgar and the #14 Vilitan Tourism / Vilaye Energy Drink team were in the same boat, however, winless and outside the top 16 in the drivers points.

Stiller and Suzgar would battle harder than they probably should have for the top spot from the drop of the green flag, running side by side but still able to keep the field behind them. Eventually Suzgar would be able to put the #14 machine out front to lead a stretch of the opening segment of the race as Stiller was overtaken by Glorious Free Repubic Motorsports driver Jeremiah Brooke. Stiller would get better longer into the run however and would climb back up to second place as Suzgar was shuffled out during the pit sequence and then eventually putting the #3 back in front by the halfway point in the event.

Suzgar would work back into the Top 5 and ultimately catch up to the rear bumper of Stiller as the two battled for the win down the stretch. In the end, however, they would finish exactly the way they started with Stiller opening up their advantage of Suzgar over the final 10 laps to take the checkered flag by a sizable margin over the defending series champion who held off Saint Kanye's Jeremiah Brooke for second place.

Despite the dissappointment of being bested by just one spot for both the Vilaye Energy Drink Pole Award and the Race Victory - and beaten both times by the same driver, the #3 QED Car Rentals Chadwick of Skip Stiller for Glorious Free Republic Motorsports, the second consecutive Top-5 finish posted by River 'Shark' Suzgar II had the defending series champion back in the hunt for a place in the NSSCRA Chase, even if they failed to claim victory between now and the end of the regular season. With the runner-up finish in Greythrone, Suzgar was now just four points behind Kai Qiang for the 16th place in series points. Now the #14 team looks ahead to the first ever race of any kind at the newly designated Tropicoast Beach Course in Tropicorp where they will have the full Vilaye Energy Drink livery on the car, hood and all, as they look to put the Vilaye sponsored machine on the Vilaye Pole Position for the first time after two near-misses.

Image

Yraaga Gilli'i :: #41 Tropicorp Racing Supply Dart
:: WINS: [ 1 ] :: TOP 5: [ 2 ] :: TOP 10: [ 4* ] -:- POLES: [ 0 ]

Image
There were high hopes for Yraaga Gilli'i and the number 41 Tropicorp Racing Supply Dart heading into race day at the Dealmaker Valley Battleground in Greythrone. Having qualified in the third position just behind teammate River 'Shark' Suzgar II, many on Vilita and Turori Motorsports must have envisioned at that time that the duo would be fighting it out all race long for the top spot along with polesitter Skip Stiller and the chance of seeing the first 1-2 finish for the Vilita and Turori team was pretty good. Unfortunately, while the #14 car of Suzgar was competitive all race long, the same could not be said for Gilli'i who struggled with the handling on the #41 machine throughout the opening segment and found themselves in the company of less experienced drivers. It would come back to haunt them not long after the race resumed after being bunched up for a caution flag when the Glorious Free Republic development driver Philip West blew a tire and shoot up the track into the car of Cocoabo #78. The impact with the Cocoabo's car sent West spinning back down the track into the path of Gilli'i who tore up the right side and suspension of the #41, unable to continue.

The wreck took a total of four cars out of the race including Gilli'i who was dissapointed at having lost what he thought was a good race car ahead of the race at the home track of the sponsor of the #41 Vilita and Turori Motorsports car, Tropicorp Racing Supply. Gilli'i's team would now focus on preparing yet another car for the event as the #41 clinged on to a Top 16 points position though with the win earlier in the season at the Lonngeylin Ring, Gilli'i was assured a place in the NSSCRA chase regardless.

Rockii Ezis :: #60 CoCoCo / Coco-Mart Dart
:: WINS: [ 0 ] :: TOP 5: [ 1 ] :: TOP 10: [ 2 ] -:- POLES: [ 0 ]

Coming off the highs of consecutive solid performances and a first ever Top 5 finish, one could excuse the driver of the #60 CoCoCO / CoCo-Mart Dart of being a little overly optimistic about their chances at victory heading into the race at the Dealmaker Valley Battleground in Greythorne. Even though there were clearly a handful of cars in a class above the rest - particularly the pole sitter #3 Skip Stiller and their two Glorious Free Republic Motorsports teammates #18 Jeremiah Brooke and #46 Thea Alvarez, and the two Vilta and Turori Motorsports drivers #14 River 'Shark' Suzgar II and #41 Yraaga Gilli'i, Ezis was still optimistic that they could turn their 11th starting position into a springboard for a first ever NSSCRA victory and the first for a driver that had to qualify into the show.

In the end, however, reality start to set in for the young driver somewhere around the halfway point as the #60 car hadn't run any higher than the 9th position for the duration of the event and didn't seem to be making any inroads to catching any of the vehicles ahead of them. By the end of the race Ezis had slipped back into the 21st position after failing to make a move on #69 Oberfeldwebel Sofia Kerman of Jebslund over the closing laps. While a 21st place showing wasn't exactly what Ezis had in mind going into the event, the CoCoCo sponsored driver would likely have to look back on the event as a success after having succesfully completed the full race distance at a track they had never raced on before without incident. It is possible as well that the learning curve is a little higher for Ezis at the Road Course events. Now the #60 team looks ahead to the first ever Tropicorp 500 as the event that some have dubbed as the first 'True Wild Card" round of the regular season comes into play. There won't be much anyone can take from any of the previous seven events and apply as knowledge that will help them at the Tropicoast Beach Course where the field will transition between two completely different racing surfaces and be forced to navigate two diametrically opposite turns - one with no banking and another with one of the highest bankings on the circuit either side of a pair of straightaways just under two miles in length that will put a strain on even the most well built engines and require massive amounts of concentration from drivers to take advantage of any drafting opportunities, keep the speed up on the paved surface down the front stretch without straying off into the compacted sand or dirt and to hit all of their breaking points at speed to make the two sharp turns on either end of the course. The field will be on a level playing field for the first laps around the unique race course and Ezis hopes that will help normalize the advantage that some of the more experienced drivers typically have over them on a race to race basis.

There was something to be said for a quiet, work-free evening.

Eva Kerman, frustrated with her recent lackluster performance, had been hitting the track extra hard when one of her pit crew suggested maybe *not* overworking herself, and recommended a session of "radio therapy". A slang term of sorts for the Emperor's twice-monthly call-in radio broadcasts, where, from noon until midnight Jebsheim time, Jebslunden the world over could tune in and listen to their Emperor talk to his people, and even call in to get advice, ask policy questions, and even just be reassured that somewhere in the world, there was at least one Kerbal they saw as important who would take time out of his busy day to spend even a few precious moments talking or singing or even praying with them, regardless of faith. Many used these sort of fireside-chat-type broadcasts to vent, some to get a read on what the government was up to, a few just to practice stand-up routines or for prayer, and, in the end, it was a reminder to the people of Jebslund that their Emperor hadn't lost sight of the most important part of his job.

And, when she had time, Eva was a regular listener. She had been one ever since she was a young girl, just as her parents had listened since the broadcasts had begun in 1931. She had also called in a few times, mostly for encouragement for her study sessions, over the years, and today would be no different. As soon as the program started, Eva dialed in, and, as luck would have it, a voice on the other end instructed her to hold for the Emperor to finish the opening address, a sort of State of the Union affair where he went over a five-minute overview of the important goings-on, talked about his day and other common questions for a few minutes, then, at the ten-minute mark, called for all citizens to begin calling in, and remarked that a few had already done so (with a bit of the noise from Eva's radio being audible in the background). Eva was, as her army service had taught her to be, brief and clear with her venting and her request for encouragement, and the response she got was an off-the-cuff speech comparing her racing to a battle, and reminding her that a racing series was not a skirmish, but a campaign, and that even the best of generals rarely won every engagement of a campaign they were in. The important thing was to learn from her mistakes and keep moving forward and trying to do better. Eva felt more encouraged and confident with every word the Emperor spoke, and it was with renewed confidence that she, at length (and a few reminders to the Emperor by his long-suffering Prime Minister that there were other callers, too) said goodbye and listened to the rest.

Two days before race day, she could afford the long night. After her dismal qualifying run, she'd need to be raring to go on the actual day of, and there were no more late nights between then and the big day.
Jebslund is a nation of kerbals ruled by Emperor Jebediah Kerman. We reject tyranny, believing that rights should be protected, though we also believe said rights end where the rights of others begin.
Shockingly, we *do* use NS stats, with the exception of lifespan.

----o-֎-o----

Yuan Qiang was 10 years old. It was the middle of the night. She was awakened by the sound of voices: her father, her brother, and a stranger who sounded like a Sherpa or Tibetan. Her father was angry and the stranger spoke in the authoritative tone of a cop laying down the law or a teacher lecturing an unruly student. Blue lights flickering in the window suggested he was a cop. Yuan Qiang climbed out of bed and crept across the room, careful not to make any noise. She didn't want them to know she was awake. She pressed her ear against the door to hear as much of the conversation as she could.

‭Kai Qiang was explaining that he hadn't stolen anybody's car; he had salvaged it from a junkyard. Their father didn't believe him, but the cop did. As the conversation went on, Yuan Qiang gathered that her brother had been caught racing some of his classmates on a highway east of Guilin, going more than double the speed limit in a car that wasn't registered and wouldn't have passed inspection. She knew he sometimes went to the junkyard to look for scrap metal that he could sell to supplement the family's income, but he had never said anything about salvaging cars. Their father was yelling now. He sounded angrier than Yuan Qiang could ever remember hearing him, angry enough to scare her. She backed away from the door and climbed back into her bed, clutching at the blankets. Even though it didn't serve any practical purpose, the softness of the fabric in her hands was comforting somehow. The cop told their father to calm down, but he was still yelling and making threats. The cop told him it was illegal to beat his children. He quieted down some and assured the cop he wouldn't do anything violent. The cop left. The front door latched closed, the blue lights went dark, and Yuan Qiang could hear the cop car driving away.

‭There was a moment of quiet, then a crashing sound and a scream. Her father started yelling again. Something went
THWACK! Kai Qiang protested that the cop had said not to beat him.

‭"I'm not going to let some mountain pig tell me how to raise my kids!"

‭THWACK!

Whimpering.

‭THWACK!

The next morning at the breakfast table, they sat in uncomfortable silence. Neither of the children had much appetite. Their father scolded them to hurry up and eat their porridge so they wouldn't miss the school bus. Yuan Qiang never told anyone that she had been awake to hear the commotion.

‭It was a memory that she had thought about a lot in the weeks since her brother brought her to Yangshuo. It stuck out because it was the only time she could ever remember her father losing his temper that badly, and the only time Kai Qiang had ever been in trouble with the police. She wondered what their father thought about it now, if he was looking back on them from the afterlife. Would he regret it now, if he knew how everything had turned out?

‭She also thought a lot about the crash between Kai Qiang and Liangmei Li at the Ferret National Autodrome. Even though some time had passed since the crash, it was still fresh in her mind. The money from NSSCRA was nice, but it was scary to think about how fast they were driving and how easy it was to crash. She felt guilty for sitting around eating pork and bell peppers while her brother was out there risking his neck to get them out of poverty. (She imagined it was more dangerous than it actually was because she didn't know about NSSCRA's safety standards, which were higher than the Guilin Racing Club's.)

‭There wasn't much she could do, though. Having bound feet and no high school diploma meant she didn't have a lot of job prospects. And even if she felt bad for being useless, that pork still tasted damn good! She had definitely put on some weight in the last few weeks.

‭One of the disadvantages of sign language is that when someone locks themselves in their room, you can't talk to them through the door. Tsering Chu could not see a good way around this. Mendok Sherpa had locked herself in her room because she was upset about something, and Tsering could not figure out how to make her open the door. She had tried calling Mendok's phone, but Mendok was not answering. She had tried slipping a note under the door, but she had no idea if Mendok had looked at it. She tried knocking, but that didn't work either.

‭She asked her pit crew if any of them knew what Mendok was so upset about, or if any of them had any idea how to make her come out of her room. One of them showed Tsering the"Rat Race" segment with Mendok chasing after Kai Qiang (with closed captioning on).

‭Tsering blushed and clapped her hands over her cheeks. When the video ended, she signed, "Why on Earth did she say that out loud?"

‭"I don't know. And why would anybody want to sleep with Kai Qiang?"

‭"You don't think he's cute?"

‭"No!"

‭"I think he's cute."

‭Eventually Mendok decided she was ready to face the world again and she came out of her room. Her eyes were red and puffy from crying. At first Tsering tried to comfort her, but then curiosity got the better of her and she had to ask how Mendok had wound up chasing after Kai Qiang and yelling about her bondage fantasies. Mendok explained how the conversation started, but Tsering was still as confused as ever. "If he was okay with being chained to the bed, then what did you ask him to do that he thought was too kinky?"

‭"I'd rather not say," Mendok signed. She was blushing bright enough to show, even through the brown of her skin-tone.

‭"I never knew you were like that," Tsering answered.

‭"Please don't judge me."

‭"We're still friends," Tsering signed. She gave Mendok a hug. "I just don't understand why you would do this..."

‭The racers from the Sherpa Empire had a good qualifying session at the Tropicoast Beach Course, with all three drivers qualifying in the top 10. The irregular and poorly-constructed tracks of the Chinese Territories had been good practice to prepare them for the varying surfaces and the flat curve at the end of the course. On the tracks back home, flat turns were the norm, and even when they were banked, there wasn't much rhyme or reason to the angle of the slope. So everyone was used to navigating awkward turns and they weren't phased by the ones at Tropicoast.

‭Liangmei Li had the best qualifying time of the Sherpa nationals, earning her a place in the front row beside pole-sitter Jeremiah Brooke of Saint Kanye. Kai Qiang was right behind them, and Tsering Chu qualified 9th.

‭Away from the track, when she went out for dinner, Liangmei Li had a lot of unkind things to say about Tropicorp. "This is the most ghetto-ass track. Is Tropicorp a real country or just the ass end of Vilita?" she said over a plate piled with fish and miscellaneous side dishes.

‭Kai Qiang was too busy being annoyed with Kami and Kusang to worry about whether Tropicoast was "ghetto-ass" or not. He had never liked their comedy in the first place, and he had always thought "Rat Race" was a little mean-spirited, but the most recent edition had really gotten under his skin. Poking fun at NSSCRA drivers was fair game up to a point since they were celebrities. But poking fun at Mendok, especially poking fun at her bad hearing, was crossing a line. And he didn't appreciate the line about needing an ID to get into a men's room...

‭He had heard of a few people demanding ID to use the bathroom because they got their panties in a twist about a transgender bathroom controversy in some faraway country, but it wasn't a common occurrence. He had never been asked for ID, he didn't think he looked transgendered, and he was tired of both the bathroom issue and the jokes about his appearance.

‭Qiang didn't know who had coined the saying, "There's no such thing as bad publicity," but he was sure that whoever it was had not lived in the Sherpa Empire.

‭On the bright side, he would be in a good position to start tomorrow's race.

‭Kusang Minyagpa was carrying an armful of groceries to his car when a complete stranger called out to him, "Hey, Kusang! I want to chain you to my bed and tear your clothes off!" This was the fifth time something like this had happened to him in the last week. He was starting to regret airing the "Rat Race" segment that gave them the idea. Most of the strangers who accosted him had not been very attractive. This time it was a woman. One of the earlier incidents had involved an obese middle-aged Bengali man who was rather drunk at the time.

NSSCRA: BROOKE EARNS SECOND STRAIGHT POLE FOR GFR
Sherpas, Yeezies "cars to beat" at Tropicoast

by Maria Muller

Image
"This is like a big test, and I studied for it."

TROPICOAST - Jeremiah Brooke, driver of the #18 Hyde Medical Group Chadwick for Glorious Free Republic Motorsports, has officially claimed the pole position for the upcoming Tropicorp 500 NSSCRA race, which will be held here in the scenic and humongous Tropicoast Beach Course. The pole is the first of the season for the 26-year-old Kanyean driver, second straight and fourth overall for GFR, and two of three since Vilaye Energy Drink out of Vilita and Turori signed on as the Nationstates Stock Car Racing Association's pole award sponsor.

Brooke told the Kibitzer that his extensive training came into play once again, as he spent time on beach courses back home in St. Kanye and even had the Tropicorp Beach Course itself in the team's simulators. "This is like a big test, and I studied for it. My aim now is to replicate what [teammate] Skip [Stiller]" did last week and start and end both in first place."

Stiller himself also did well in qualifying. The driver of the #3 QED Car Rentals Chadwick will begin the race in the sixth position, just ahead of GFR's third entry Thea Alvarez. "I have a lot of experience with this kind of track. I guess that gives me some kind of advantage, and I should not waste it", Alvarez said. The teenage driver, who pilots the #46 Multiversal Automotive Coatings Chadwick, raced beach buggies and ATVs, among others, before her big NSSCRA break. Aside from the track, Alvarez also liked the rest of the island. "It's such a beautiful tropical place. I took many photos and had some fun under the sun." "It's like Blue Coast [in Vangaziland], but with cocoabos", added Stiller.

Like the Yeezies, the Sherpa Empire will also have all three of their entered drivers starting in the top ten, with Liangmei Li (#88) on the outside pole, Kai Qiang (#44) third and Tsering Chu (#90) starting ninth. Uneven surfaces, banking and turns in the tracks back home seem to have prepared the Sherpas for the Tropicorp Beach Course's unique layout. Vilita & Turori Motorsports has Centur Tiones (#2) at fifth and Yraaga Gilli'i (#41) at the eighth position in the grid, however, defending champ River Suzgar (#14) will settle for 26th after starting second in the previous two races. #60 driver Rockii Ezis, at twentieth, completes the VTM four.

Tropicorp's resident Cocoabos, #28 and #78, will start eleventh and 38th; the former returns to competition after being injured in a wreck at the Lonngeylin Ring. Euroli Islander (#42), who also races for the host company, will sit at the 29th spot.

Aside from the GFR drivers, there is another citizen of St. Kanye who will look to grab a victory at Tropicorp. Jareth Olsen had previously won the Tropicorp Racing Supply Pit Crew Challenge at Lonngeylin during the Toys 4 All 500 race weekend, beating a Hampton Islander, a Xannerian and a Turorian in the final round of the tire changing category. GFR got a hold of Olsen and gave him 10,000 Coinyes (NS$20,000) and two tickets to Tropicorp for his achievement. The 30-year-old mechanic by trade said "Like Stiller, Brooke and Alvarez, I'll be doing my best to win for St. Kanye." All qualifying sessions and races will be broadcast live on SKYNET (Saint KanYe) NETwork Sports Channel 12 and online at nsscra.skynet.stk.

Cocoabo #28 leads Team Tropicorp in Tropicoast qualifying

Tropicorp 500, Tropicoast Beach Course, Tropicoast, Tropicorp :: When Cocoabo #28 was sidelined from the NSSCRA circuit due to injuries sustained in an accident at the Lonngeylin Ring during the third round of the NSSCRA 7 season, there were some that wondered if the Cocoabo would ever be back behind the wheel. Some were calling for the Cocoabo to be 'retired' to the lush Cocoabo Forest reserve to live a 'happy, peaceful' life.

What those folks didn't understand however was that Cocoabo #28 had been raised within the structure of the Cocoabo Enrichment and Enhancement Project (CEEP) at the Cocoabo Park. Happiness for Cocoabo #28 is measured in terms of success, not relaxation. Not competing on the NSSCRA circuit while former training partner Cocoabo #78 was racing each week - that was the real pain for Cocoabo #28 - not necessarily the lingering symptoms of injuries suffered in the roll-over accident in the Toys '4' All 500.

So when Team Tropicorp announced that they had cleared Cocoabo #28 to return in a one-off appearance at the Tropicoast Beach Course to be able to better assess their ability to handle traffic on a course that is fairly straightforward to drive, no one would have been more excited than the Cocoabo themselves. Of course, Tropicorp officials were pleased to get an extra car in their home race though some questioned whether it was wise to put Cocoabo #28 back on the track so quickly.

If there were any doubts about Cocoabo #28's readiness to compete at the top level, they were silenced quickly as the returning Cocoabo's lap of 1:48.607 was good enough for the 11th best time of the Vilaye Energy Drink Pole Qualifying session, nearly five whole seconds faster on the Unique 4.1 mile course than the time of Cocoabo #78 who had a poor lap that will certainly have team engineers scratching their head as Cocoabo #78 had the most training laps on the actual Beach course than any other driver coming into the event. Tropicorps other driver, Euroli Islander, who trains mostly on digital simulators as a data gathering comparison for the Tropicorp Research Team, will start the event in the 29th place behind two drivers from The Ferret Lands as well as defending series champion River 'Shark' Suzgar II.

Team Tropicorp will hope to ride Cocoabo #28's momentum from Qualifying and put at least one of their drivers in the Top 10 in front of their employees and their families or, perhaps, contend for their first NSSCRA series victory at their home track.

One of the other big events taking place on the weekend is the Tropicorp Racing Supply sponsored Pit Crew Challenge event in the Fan Zone. The Tropicorp Pit Crew Challenge has been a hit amongst fans during the two events it has appeared at this season and the success now has the Tropicorp Racing Supply marketing and outreach team wondering if it might be a good idea to take the Tropicorp Pit Crew challenge on the road to other NSSCRA events. With Team Tropicorp already making the trip with all the equipment required to field two or three cars in each event, one extra container full of Pit Crew Challenge related equipment wouldn't be too much extra and could save on the logistics and preparation. At a minimum, Tropicorp Racing Supply officials set a goal of identifying at least one race during each round of the NSSCRA Chase, including the finale in Tundra Falls, where the Tropicorp Pit Crew Challenge could be set up in the Fan Zone.

Bombelli in hot water

It appears all of sudden, KRD driver Tom Bombelli may be in trouble for opening his mouth. Bombelli recently was involved in an incident at Greythorne where he he was spun out by a non-human entity; Cocoabo #78. The scientifically trained bird had issues in the race and speared the Bombelli car. While Tom didn't say to much in his post race interview, the extent of which was calling #78 a "feathered mess-up", it appears he doubled down on his disgust. During an interview with a newspaper at the track maintained by Tropicorp, spoke to a writer from his native Starcom Racing and added to the fire saying "I hope when he wrecks next he catches on fire. I'm hungry for some BBQ". This came as a shock to several camps in the garage as Bombelli was immediately painted as a huge speciesist. Both Tropicorp and the Ferret Lands have non-Human driver and both were not at all happy with the Starcomer. It is also known that Bombelli had several run-ins with the Koopaling drivers from A Mushroom Kingdom when he ran in the Big 8 Racing championship. KRD owner Derek Iona has stated the team is looking into this but will not be able to act out till after the race in Tropicorp. Bombelli qualified 15th for the race, second fastest of the drivers in Xannerian cars.

Tenth.

Well, there were worse spots, and it was far better than the 30th-place finish that had put her lead in critical condition. Eva was a little annoyed that she'd allowed that to happen (never mind the now-fixed gas leak that had forced her to pit constantly until it was found), and it was that frustration and the calm she'd felt from her chat with the Emperor that, in the tanker's mind, had lead to the decent, if not quite "good", finish. And she hoped that, between good old Kermanic hard work and her newly renewed confidence, the improvements would continue. So it was that every moment she wasn't getting her refreshment sleep was spent studying, practicing, and meditating on her mistakes and how to fix them.

That said, she'd found time to watch the Rat Race segment, and it was there she'd gotten a much-needed good laugh as she watched the video, wondering if her Gleichenamen writing for the Sportler would comment on it in her next article as she sampled some of the local food alongside some Dürrdürrwüste cactus soda she'd been sent in a care package. The image of the scene that Mendok woman had in mind had Eva in fits, given the oddity of human proportions to Kerbals (and she was sure that humans thought Kerbals were just as oddly shaped). As she finished off her food and dumped one of the bottles into her sacrifice bowl, careful to not look directly into it as the soda, far more than a bowl that small (it was, after all, a personal travel bowl, not a home one) should have been able to contain, went in, the bowl as dry and empty when the bottle was empty as it had been before the sacrifice, Eva closed the notebook she'd been working on prior to dinner, drank the glowing blue liquid that had appeared in a small bottle after the sacrifice, then went to bed.
Jebslund is a nation of kerbals ruled by Emperor Jebediah Kerman. We reject tyranny, believing that rights should be protected, though we also believe said rights end where the rights of others begin.
Shockingly, we *do* use NS stats, with the exception of lifespan.

#41 Yraaga Gilli'i competes in qualifying for the Tropicorp 500 at the Tropicoast Beach Course
Tropicorp 500, Tropicoast Beach Course, Tropicoast, Tropicorp :: If Vilita and Turori Motorsports driver and defending NSSCRA series champion River 'Shark' Suzgar II had thought that his luck would change in the Vilaye Energy Drink pole qualifying session by driving a car fully sponsored from nose to tail by Vilaye Energy Drink then they were in for extra disappointment come the conclusion of the qualifying session at the Tropicoast Beach Course. After having sat on the outside pole in two consecutive races, Suzgar, who's only top qualifying run of the season came in the non-points exhibition race at the Tundra Falls complex prior to the start of the season, was looking to improve by one position and claim their first Vilaye Energy Drink Pole Award from one of his teams sponsors the Vilisorma Beverage Company. Things had looked good for Suzgar down the paved straightaway through the bend and into the entrance to the big curve, tracking right with the fastest times of the day. Unfortunately for the #14 Vilaye Energy Drink Dart driver the Big Curve did not go well as the car, perhaps set a little too low to the ground, dragged extensively on the compacted sand surface and shot up the curve at an improper entry angle resulting in a slower than desired exit from the big curve, killing the #14 cars momentum down the long back straightaway. While Suzgar ran smoothly through the flat curve at the other end of the track, the damage had been done and the momentum lost entering the back straightaway caused Suzgar to be over 3 seconds off the pace of eventual Vilaye Energy Drink pole award winner Jeremiah Brooke of Glorious Free Republic Motorsports. It marked the second straight pole position for the Saint Kanye based outfit after Skip Stiller's Vilaye Pole Award winning run in Greythrone. The #14 Vilaye Energy Drink Dart will start the race from the 26th position

It wasn't all bad for Vilita and Turori Motorsports as Centur Tiones, usually noted as the best short track driver on the teams roster, used the skill to expertly navigate the tracks two difficult braking zones and put forth a top 5 qualifying effort less than two-tenths of a second off the fastest time of the session. Likewise, Yraaga'a Gilli'i with a similar skill set in understanding braking zones, a good Road Course and Short Track racer, used those skills to post the 8th fastest time of the session. Both drivers shined due to the effortless task of driving down the straightaway in the shortest possible path until their true expertise was required in the two turns. It will be a much different scenario once the race begins when the straightaways become a passing zone with drafting, slingshots and tight spaces on the paved surface and all the same with no limitation in width. Rockii Ezis will be looking to take advantage of that to progress from his 20th starting position. The driver of the #60 CoCoCo / CoCo-Mart Dart will be looking to take advantage of the unique nature of the Tropicoast Beach Course to outlast some of their more experienced competitors and impress team officials into a full time chartered position that doesn't require qualifying each round in the future.

With ten races to go before the end of the regular season and 7 winners already on the circuit there remains the chance that one race winner could be left out of the NSSCRA Chase, depending on how the sanctioning body applies the 'win and you are in' mantra. As such, Yraaga Gilli'i and the #41 Tropicorp Racing Supply Dart have extra motivation to find a path to Victory lane in the Tropicorp 500. Not only would it be a victory for sponsor Tropicorp Racing Supply at their home track but it would also bump Gilli'i to the top of the charts with two victories and ensure that no scenario, no matter how statistically improbable, could keep the #41 car out of the championship playoff field.

Next Race: Race 9- (Nov 17/18)- Nantes International Speedway, Brittany Normandy Aquitaine (Superspeedway)

*- Due to a typo on the last points chart (it was always correct in the spreadsheet, which is why I am able to harmlessly mention it now without issue), Eva Kerman was displayed as having 258 points when it should have been 268.

THE ROCKET REPORT

CHANGES NEEDED, BUT WHERE?

By Brianne Henry,

The eighth race of the NSSCRA season was completed at Tropicoast Beach Course, and once again Newmanistanian drivers were no where near the front. They weren’t in the back either, but are instead consistently lodged in the middle of the back. It was entertaining race on this unique track, and certainly there were many in attendance happy to see Vilita & Turori’s driver known as the Shark, pick up his first victory of the season and locking the defending champion into the chase. Two drivers from Vilita & Turori are now locked in. Vangaziland has two locked in as well, while The Sherpa Empire, Saint Kanye, Cassadaigua, and Jebslund have one driver in. Based on the points, you can pretty much write in the “Hot Couple of NSSCRA”, Stacemiah, otherwise known has Jeremiah Brooke of Saint Kanye and Stacie Houston, of Cassadaigua. While it would be a good bet to assume Brooke and Houston will win before the year’s end, those two drivers, both last year and this year have proven that they know how to points race, and don’t beat themselves. Even when they have an off-day, their results are still comparable to an average day for Newmanistanian drivers.

Last year, Newmanistan did not have anyone make the chase, and we are trending that way again this year. Bryan Harrison was the closest to making it, but after finishing 25th at Tropicorp, he only has 155 points, tied for 24th with Xanneria’s Roman Gwinnett. Therefore, Harrison’s day was not a bad day, it was in fact a pretty typical day. Shawn Curtis, the only Rocket Motorsports driver to win last year, sits 21st in the points, after a very flat 29th place finish. Then, there is Ashley Matthews, who is our leading point-getter, ranked 18th on the leaderboard following a 16th place finish. It does not look, again, like any of our drivers are going to make the chase. Matthews is on the bubble, in theory, but it’s hard to look at the drivers ahead of her and think about who the two drivers would be that she could knock out. The 24 team has been consistent, but consistent with performances like her 16th place run, and not getting wins or top 5's. Matthews is also 16 points behind the 17th place driver in points, Kai Qiang from The Sherpa Empire. Qiang got off to a slow start, but has been better in his last two races following the wreck he had with teammate (in name only, it seems), Liangmei Li. Wilhelm Kerman and Meghan Sharpe are perhaps drivers that Matthews could pass, but those two are racing for nations who are in general, outperforming us.

Then, we must consider those who are behind Matthews. Some of them are capable of sneaking a win away and making it even more difficult for Matthews to make the chase. But to consider Matthews chances, you really need to stop looking at everyone else, because the 24 team is not good enough right now to be a part of it.

If Newmanistan were to be shut out of the Chase for the second straight year, it would be embarrassing and a failure for our automotive industry. They have taken great pride in the development of fast cars and speed, and felt that they were better, or at least competitive with the other top developers. That has proven to be false. These results are concerning, but pretty soon you have to wonder if one of these countries will just throw an inexperienced pretty face in a race car and have them outrun us, too.

Leaked Email

To: Guilin Racing Club, cc: Tibet Motor Works
From: Jessica Franssen, VMR
Subject: WGPC 17

Greetings and salutations,

My name is Jessica Franssen. I've made my mark as a driver for Vannish Motors Racing, winning championships in open wheel and rally racing. The last two seasons of WGP2 competition have seen me develop as a team principal and manager. Today the company comes to me with a new role. Ambassador. It has been reported in the international media that certain Vannish athletes or companies have a following within your Empire. The same could be said about the Guilin Racing Club on our shores.

Sales records show GRC merchandise was some of the highest selling during the Blue Coast 400. Liangmei Li's pole position put her in a prominent spotlight for much of the weekend. Your drivers are known for having a lot of personality. They are also seen as fierce competitors that can withstand the ups and downs of a season.

It is because of those two facts that I am reaching out on behalf of Vannish Motors and Vannish Motors Racing. I would like to start by asking a question. What is the WGPO? The World Grand Prix Organization has two tiers. World Grand Prix 2 events are part of a developmental season, which grooms drivers for the top open wheel racing league in the multiverse.

The World Grand Prix Championships compete on tracks around the world, similar to NSSCRA. Street courses are very popular, as are highly developed circuits. Each race boils down to the balance between each racer's driving style. Many nations that compete in NSSCRA also race in the WGPC.

By now, you must be wondering where this email is headed. VMR would like to partner with GRC for season 17 of the World Grand Prix Championships. This can involve several factors. First, let me speak on why a collaboration could be beneficial for your team and drivers. It can be difficult for a new team to get charters. Your nation should have enough clout internationally to compete for a spot on the lineup. Every season, more teams return with priority to reclaim their position. If your driver needs to find a spot on a team, here is an invitation to an award winning program. Your driver would be thrown into a highly visible position.

Having drivers from different nations can provide a boost. It may be morale. Maybe it has to do with having the support of another country behind the team. The numbers say that this international factor may play a difference. Our plan includes the contingency that GFR or Tibet Motor Works gets a WGPC team. We could be prepared to send a driver to your team.

One driver has commitments, but is expected to become a free agent. His name is Jang Xiaopeng, of the Tainese Isles. Xiaopeng raced under my management in the inaugural season of WGPC 16. Together, we won both driver and team trophies. Mr. Jang followed his career in season 16 of the WGPC. He would finish 4th and was one of the final drivers competing to win the driver's title.

Perhaps Tibet Motor Works doesn't find open wheel racing relevant to its marketing campaign. We already have one major sponsor who is looking for what is called a 'privateer' team. He would invest his deep pockets into helping GRC get a program started. The sponsor might even be willing to purchase a car from Tibet Motor Works.

Our engineering department has recently reached out to Tibet Motor Works. They mentioned collaborating for the World Grand Prix Organization. There may be room for TMW to set up the suspension for our next car. Working with Vannish Motors means joining a team with Championship heritage. We have won 3 of the last 4 cups up for WGPO competition.

Our scouts know what a driver needs to succeed. Your drivers have made an impact on our company. We would like to discuss talented prospects and future development. May WGPC 17 be a successful season.

Sincerely,
Jessica Franssen

Drivers Adapt, and all score top tens,
by Chelsea Dufresne, Concord Heights Times

After Vilaye Energy Drink Qualifying was complete, drivers from Cassadaigua found themselves not being among the fastest drivers out there. Meghan Sharpe had the best starting position, 17th, and would have Stacie Houston directly behind her. Jenna Logan was starting in one of the back rows alongside someone she doesn’t typically see except when lapping, Jennifer Jane, out of One Jamaica. The course is unusual for these drivers, and if racing on the beach was not rooted in the history of many national stock car racing programs, then some may have wondered why would be racing here in the first place. Instead of wondering about that, the teams and crews put in long extra hours to finally figure out this place before race day. “While each of our drivers have some sort of dirt racing experience as they grew up, this is not something they are used too with making a transition from a paved to an unpaved track. Certainly, as those who work on the cars, we are not used to setting these up,” stated a crew member for Meghan Sharpe’s #4 Spacebook machine, “You can’t really use any dirt track knowledge for it, because the car is completely different.” A member of the Stacie Houston crew said similar, “I know that Stacie was excited about coming here, because this layout will really get the heart pumping out of any driver, but once you are actually here, you realize you are still competing for points, and it’s not about fun and enjoyment, but needs to be treated like every other race.”

As the lead up to the race began, Team Cassadaigua tirelessly put together notes, as all three teams collaborated to try and figure out how they could get speed. The transitions from pavement to dirt, and then dirt to pavement were getting to them. In the final practice, they put together several different scenarios, and as the Stacie Houston crew member told me, “With about twenty minutes left, we saw that one of our brainstormed plans of attack was really working. Not only was Stacie markedly better, but so too was Meghan and Jenna. It was a relief to know that we hit on it, and that we would be better out there during the race.” Stacie Houston credited the work of all three teams as she stepped into her race car. “I know they tried hard to get it right. We believe we found some missing speed that was not there in qualifying. Watch for the pink cars to be advancing.”

It took a little bit for the efforts to show.
Improvements had been made, but the Team Cassadaigua drivers essentially ran between 10th and 15th for the first half of the race. Then, gradually, they worked on the cars, and all three of them began making up spots. In the end, Stacie Houston placed 6th, with Meghan Sharpe 8th and Jenna Logan 9th. Houston joked about her run afterwards, “All race long Jeremiah (Brooke) was well ahead of me and probably wondering where I was out there. Then, there at the very end, I am right on his tail to almost get that top five. One or two more laps!” Saint Kanye also placed three in the top seven, meaning six of the top nine were from either Cassadaigua or Saint Kanye. Neither were in spot one, though, as that went to River Suzgar of Vilita & Turori. He and third place Yraaga Gilli’i used their experience of this track to their benefit. Kev Schorebrook, of Vangaziland, was second. Despite the uniqueness of the track, there were few cautions in the race.

Scene: Stafford City Speedway

Marketing Exec: Hello James, good to see you today. It’s been a little while, how did the dinner go with Lexi?

James McCurty: Do you even know her last name?

Marketing Exec: She told me once, but I forgot. Anyway, we did a couple shoots with her, but she didn’t talk all that much. She seems to be more interested in racing cars now.

James McCurty: I had a nice dinner with her, and that was the extent of it. She’s almost young enough to be my daughter, so I am not going to be push it any further with her. She is still a young, impressionable young girl who just wants to be successful. I liked seeing that side of her. By the way her last name is (race car goes flying by making it inaudible).

Marketing Exec: Yeah, because of you, I had to pay her out that promise. Hasn’t anyone put the bump and run on you before?

James McCurty: Of course. I wasn’t expecting it out of her.

First assistant: Her best lap time is down to 18.843 seconds. That could almost be as good as David Land.

Marketing Exec: See, we have found a chick with untapped potential.

James McCurty: She does have a knack for it. She is not afraid of speed, but if you really want to test her, we have to send her out to a speedway. Face it, she is training on a short track here. She is not training on a speedway or even a superspeedway.

Marketing Exec: Baby steps. By the way, I have something exciting to show you. (Shouting-) Billy, bring it out.

After a minute, his assistant Billy brings out a blue and red #23 race car sponsored by Starlight Suites.

Marketing Exec: Check that baby out, James.

James McCurty: Wow. That’s pretty cool. How many races they on for?

Marketing Exec: The next two. Nantes and Sirenia. If you average a 15th place finish, they will remain on board for the next race in Sherpa Empire. Then they move to.... Shouting, Hey Billy, bring the other out.

After a minute or so of wait and anticipation, Billy brings out a blue and red #30 race car, still sponsored by Starlight Suites.

Marketing Exec: They have agreed to be Lexi’s sponsor for the Golden Bear 400 and will sponsor any usage of hers with the open charter thereafter. I made the price tag conditional on sponsoring you for BNA and Lisander. See, I told you I am looking out for you, James.

James McCurty: Pretty cool, looks good.

Marketing Exec: She will be here soon, I have some paperwork for you in the meantime.

Time passes and Lexi arrives.

Lexi: Hey there!

Marketing Exec: Hello, sweetheart. How are you?

Lexi: Great!

James McCurty: Hi, Lexi, good to see you.

Lexi: Hi, James! Wow that last race track was really weird wasn’t it. I mean, you raced on dirt!

James McCurty: It was definitely a different experience, didn’t race as well as I hoped I would, though.

Marketing Exec: Lexi, look at those cars. That number 30, that’s all yours!

Lexi: You bought me a car?

Marketing Exec: It’s for racing, only.

Lexi: Oh, still cool. Can I race it now? And I don’t want anyone to help me climb into the car this time, I have been practicing!

Marketing Exec: In a bit.

Lexi: I don’t like Starlight Suites, though. I stayed there once and the mattress was kinda hard. Can it say something else?

Marketing Exec: That’s the sponsor, they have paid a lot of money to have their name there.

Lexi: Oh sorry, I am used to only clothes and lingerie advertising. I love Starlight Suites!

Marketing Exec: Very good!

James McCurty: Definitely had the nailed down, good job.

Marketing Exec: Speaking of their mattresses though, they are launching a new line, and want you to promote it, Lexi. That was part of the deal.

Lexi: Cool!

Marketing Exec: James gets to be in the commercial, too.

James McCurty: Seriously? What do I do?

Marketing Exec: You lie on the hard mattress and complain about it in the before scenario. Takes about ten seconds. Lexi finishes the ad.

NSSCRA: SHARK TAKES OVER TROPICOAST BEACH

by Ray Wright

TROPICOAST - To those unfamiliar with the Nationstates Stock Car Racing Association, NSSCRA for short, this might look like an article about a great white terrorizing a resort town. But what does the international racing league have to do with that, you ask? Well, to the uninitiated, "Shark" is the nickname of NSSCRA driver River Suzgar of Vilita & Turori Motorsports, who by driving his #14 Dart to victory in the Tropicorp 500 here at the Tropicoast Beach Course, earned a spot in the Chase and the right to defend the title that he won last season. It is also a victory for Suzgar's sponsor Vilaye Energy Drink, as their car defeated the #25 VM of Vannish racer Kev Schorebrook, which is sponsored by a direct competitor, REDUP Energy Drink.

Suzgar's teammate Yraaga Gilli'i, driver of the #41 Tropicorp Dart, took third place. Fourth through ninth were completely filled up with drivers from St. Kanye and Cassadaigua. Yeezies Thea Alvarez (#46), Jeremiah Brooke (#18) and Skip Stiller (#3) were fourth, fifth and seventh in that order; Dagans Stacie Houston (#27), Meghan Sharpe (#4) and Jenna Logan (#11) were sixth, eighth and ninth respectively. The last spot in the top ten was taken by the Sherpa Empire's Liangmei Li in the #88 car.

Despite starting on pole, Brooke didn't get to spend a lot of time in front. "We didn't do the right things to dominate today", said the driver of the Glorious Free Republic Motorsports Chadwick sponsored by Hyde Medical Group. "We got outran at times. But we had a clean race, there's that, and we got closer to the points lead. Given how the 18 car has done in the past few races, I don't think it's out of the question for us to get a win, as long as we execute properly and continue to practice and study race tape."

Like Brooke, Alvarez is hungry for win number one of the season. "We can't just be good week in and week out and not get wins. Sure, we might get into the Chase on points, but we won't settle for that. We race to win, right? And besides, most of us from last season, if not all, have improved, and there are newcomers who already showed their worth. We need to improve and keep up with them." As for Stiller, he's already playoff-bound after his win last week at Greythorne. "But despite that, we won't just coast until the Chase comes. The regular season championship is still at stake. I'm hoping that I could defend it from last season."

Li, who started on the outside of the front row, beside Brooke, stormed off to an early lead on the rest of the pack, but Centur Tiones (#2) and the three GFR cars would also lead some laps. Suzgar started picking off the cars in front of his, eventually getting into the top ten about a couple dozen laps into the race, with a pass on Stiller's QED Car Rentals machine, nicknamed the "Blue Trey". The race was relatively clean at the start, meaning that drivers had to pit from green if they wanted to have work done on their cars. Among those who lost spots in the position shuffle were Kai Qiang (#44) and Brooke, the latter complaining about his car getting loose.

The first caution flew with the race about 1/3 done; Kevin von Pressman (#76) and Gael Erwann (#99) were involved. This time it would be Stiller, taking four tires, falling into the 15-20 group. Brooke would find himself just outside the top ten, while Alvarez, driving the Multiversal Automotive Coatings Chadwick, would be the new leader on the restart, with Eva Kerman (#13), Suzgar and Kev not far behind. The race's only other incident was near the halfway point: Gael's brother Mael in the #71 and Lisanderian Lourdina Westgrens in the #7 Dunneot were taken out. But the rest of the way, it was caution-free. The Kanyeans rose and fell, but ultimately wound up in the top ten during the closing laps, together with the Cassadagans. There waa a "Stacemiah" moment near the end, with Houston hot on Brooke's tail trying to chase him down, but the #18 was able to break free from the #27, denying the latter a top five finish. The two drivers and close friends later exchanged waves during the cooldown lap, while their respective teammates lined up behind them.

Eva retained the driver points lead despite finishing just eleventh; she now has 301 points. Brooke, breaking a tie with Houston for second, also closed in on the Jebslunder, and is now only seven points behind. (Before the race, Eva actually led by fourteen, not four. The error was a result of a typo - Ed.) Houston, with 292 points, is still in a tie, but for third with Kev. Alvarez has 251 points, good for fifth, while Stiller's 249 put him in a triple tie for sixth with #50 Ellie Lindskog and Tiones. Suzgar, with today's win, is boosted to joint tenth with Li.

Meanwhile, Tom Bombelli continues to generate hate from NSSCRA fans following insults and death threats directed by the Xannerian driver toward Cocoabo #78. Just after the race, Bombelli was showered with trash and boos, with a group of hecklers of undetermined nationality shouting the following:

"Hey, Tom, why don't you go pick on someone your intelligence?"

"Yeah, those Cocoabos must be several levels ahead of him."

"Is that why he chose #16? To represent his IQ?"

GFR's Stiller stated his opinion on the issue, saying "All I can say is that he [Bombelli] brought this upon himself, and so he must face the consequences."

Back in St. Kanye, track management of the two Kanyean tracks in the NSSCRA schedule have expressed interest in making the Tropicorp Racing Supply Pit Crew Challenge a part of their race weekends. Byron Mitchell and Alvin Rutledge, who represent the Jalton Superspeedway and Bompton Raceway respectively, are expected to meet with Tropicorp executives on Wednesday. The Pit Crew Challenge draws participants from many nations, including St. Kanye itself; here at Tropicoast, 30-year-old mechanic Jareth Olsen won the tire changing category again after winning it at Lonngeylin, while Brennan Jackson, 41, finished second in the refueling category, behind a competitor from Newmanistan.

Only five races remain in the NSSCRA regular season, the first of those being the one at the Nantes International Speedway at Brittany Normandy Aquitaine next week. Vannish part-timer and WGP driver Jessica Franssen will make her second and last appearance this season in the #01 VM. All qualifying sessions and races will be broadcast live on SKYNET (Saint KanYe) NETwork Sports Channel 12 and online at nsscra.skynet.stk. Full qualifying, race, and driver points tables are also found on that website.

Bombelli out! Capps in!

So its official, Tom Bombelli is out at KRD Team Iona. Bombelli despite a top 30 finish was fired because of what he said to a local Starcomer press about racing Cocoabos. Replacing him will be Tucker Capps. Capps is the son of legendary Starcomer Billy Capps. Capps was last years Big 8 Championship ROTY. This also means that Eddie Walters Jr will be locked in to the remaining races as Capps will have to qualify on time. Capps wll have funding from Track Gear a racing themed clothing line.

----o-֎-o----

‭A light rain was falling on Guilin and the surrounding farmland. The Li River Speedway was quiet and deserted except for the offices of the Guilin Racing Club, where Bo Zhang was sitting at a computer checking email and Mengxia Shao was looking through some paperwork about preparations for the Guangxi Telecom 400. They both stopped periodically to sip from mugs of hot tea.

‭"I don't know why you bother looking at all those emails in the spam folder," said Shao.

‭"Sometimes emails get sent to the spam folder by mistake," said Zhang. "I want to make sure we don't miss anything important. If I didn't check the spam folder, I might never know that I can get a great deal on Jia Sheyou's Miracle Cure For Erectile Dysfunction!"

‭"Okay, but why would you want to know that?"

‭"I don't know. I wish people would just send us email in Chinese so I can tell the important ones from the spam without translating it first."

‭"You could just delete the stuff you can't read," Shao suggested.

‭"Oh, this is interesting..." said Zhang.

‭"What?"

‭"I'm not sure if it's a hoax or a legitimate offer."

‭"It's a hoax."

‭"You haven't even heard what it says!" Zhang scolded Shao.

‭"Are they offering to give you billions of rupees from the estate of a Banijan prince?" Shao asked sarcastically.

‭"No," said Zhang. "They're asking if we want some kind of partnership with Vannish Motors Racing. This probably should have been sent to SIMS or the Ministry of Culture. On the other hand, Xu Liuyong might be interested. I think I'll show it to him before I send anything to SIMS." (SIMS = Sherpa Imperial Motor Sports, domestic governing body for open wheel racing.)

‭Shao perked up. "If they're looking for drivers, I'd be interested."

----o-֎-o----

‭Tsering Chu had finished 19th. It wasn't terrible, and she was already guaranteed a spot in the Chase anyway, but after doing well in qualifying, she had gotten her hopes up for a better result. But even though she was mildly disappointed, she was still more worried about Mendok than about herself. Mendok was still very embarrassed about the video clip of her chasing after Kai Qiang that had been put on TV for everyone including her parents to see. Her parents were upset with her. She was unusually quiet -- both literally quiet and less animated in her signing. She hadn't talked to Qiang about it since the clip aired. In fact, she seemed to be purposely avoiding him. Tsering felt sorry for her, but didn't know how to help.

‭After the race, they went to dinner together, but Mendok didn't seem to have much appetite. "Do you think you'd be okay finishing the season without me if I went home?" she asked.

‭"What? You can't leave!" Tsering signed emphatically. "You're part of my team! What about your credits for doing NSSCRA?"

‭"I don't know," Mendok answered. "Maybe I can take summer classes to make up for them. But it's too embarrassing seeing Kai Qiang all the time! And my parents are going to think I'm sleeping with him."

‭"Are you?"

‭"No! We kissed a couple times, but nothing serious, and now he doesn't like me anymore because I tried to move too fast."

‭Tsering blushed. "I'm still a little jealous, you know."

‭"Jealous of WHAT?"

‭"That he kissed you..."

‭"But it's such a mess now!" Mendok signed.

‭"You can't quit after how much we've already done," Tsering told her. "If you want to talk to Kai Qiang, I can come with you to make it less scary."

‭"I don't want to talk to him, though."

‭"Do you want me to tell him you're sorry so you don't have to talk to him yourself?"

‭Mendok thought about it for a moment, then nodded. "Yeah, that would be good."

----o-֎-o----

‭"Oh, Holy Mother!" said Liangmei Li. She had just seen the latest news out of Xanneria. "Are people really that sensitive that they get offended when someone insults a cocoabo? It's a fucking cocoabo!"

‭"What's going on now?" asked Ningxiao Hong.

‭"Bombelli got fired for insulting one of those cocoabo things."

‭Hong laughed. "That's ridiculous! I thought it was funny what he said about BBQ. I wonder what cocoabos taste like..."

‭"You should ask that Sherpa girl from Chu's team. I hear she got a nice mouthful of Cocoabo #44 back in Graythorne."

‭Hong laughed again.

Narrowing Margins
11th finish leaves Schnellezeichnung ever closer to second, but what's going on with the Sherpa team?

First and foremost, I apologise for missing an issue last week. I came down with a wicked case of food poisoning (A Kerbal with food poisoning. What are the odds?), so I couldn't get an article out. Or tell you what day it was, to be honest. But now Mama Eva's back and ready to report on NSSCRA and tell you where to get some good eats!

First and foremost, Schnellezeichnung's 11th place finish this week leaves her a scant 7 points ahead of second place, St. Kanye's Jeremiah Brooke. Schnellezeichnung, I know your recent finishes haven't been your best, but shake it off, girl! You've still got what it takes to beat these guys! You proved that when you snagged yourself a spot in the Chase, so tell those blues to get lost and let's see you feeding the competition some dust again! I still have your back, and I know my fans do, because some of them have been sending you care packages (you dorks know who you are!).

Speaking of love... It seems a certain Mendok Sherpa may or may not have the hots for a certain Kai Qiang. A friend of mine sent me a clip of a very interesting moment some cameras caught between the two. [The word "moment" is hyperlinked to the Rat Race footage, subtitled in multiple languages commonly spoken in Jebslund] For those of you reading this on paper, it seems the Sherpa show "Rat Race" caught Ms. Sherpa yelling to Mr. Qiang about her ripping off his clothes. Mendok Sherpa, Qiang may not be having it, but, if that's your fantasy, I've got nothing going on this Friday, if you want to try it out.

I kid, I kid. Though any Kerbals out there looking to give it a try are welcome to ask [me].

Today's featured Imbissmeister is Oma Fantas's Gebratene Fantasien. If you like fried chicken, you'll love Oma Fantas's Gebratene Fantasien. They have some of the biggest chicken legs I've ever seen, and, if it's a flavor, they probably have it. I myself don't think there's really any topping Original, though, with that secret blend of 11 herbs and spices that hits the ol' tastebuds just right, but there's a few others, like five cheese and Jet Auspuff (recently licensed from Die Glückliche Ratte), that just might tickle your fancy, too. All orders on NSSCRA race days are half-off, so grab a leg or two to watch the big race with!

Writing for the Sportler, this has been Eva Kerman wishing you a lucky season!

Jebslund is a nation of kerbals ruled by Emperor Jebediah Kerman. We reject tyranny, believing that rights should be protected, though we also believe said rights end where the rights of others begin.
Shockingly, we *do* use NS stats, with the exception of lifespan.
Singular sapient: Jebslunder
Plural Sapient: Jebslunden
Singular/Plural nonsapient: Kermanic
Note: When a verb can logically only be done by the sapient using/piloting/holding the object in question, then the appropriate demonym for the number of sapients is used.

Capitalism, Socialism, and Communism are ECONOMIC SYSTEMS. Stop conflating them with political systems.

Floyd Hackerbee and Kev Schorebrook sat near each other on the plane. They sat in rows one in front of the other. Kev twisted his head back to talk to Floyd. The plane was in route to Brittany Normandy Aquitaine. Ellie Lindskog and Jessica Franssen sat on the opposite side of the aircraft. Jess was asleep. Ellie was watching a movie, caught up in the rich sound of her headphones.

"4th place", Floyd told Kev. Hackerbee was wearing a button down short sleeved shirt. The Tropicorp weather was still fresh in his mind. His hair was done up in it's usual auburn pompadour. "You're SO in a spot to make a run for the regular season championship. I'm surprised there isn't a sponsor for that."

Kev turned back with a smirk. "Man, I'm focused on the Chase. That's a goal for lower tier teams to reach. It's the Chase or nothing." Kev chuckled a little in jest. He was dressed more casual in a dark hooded sweatshirt. He just wanted to be comfortable for the long flight.

"I don't know man", said Floyd as he thought to himself. "I think I flubbed my chances. I haven't trained as hard this past week. I really needed to step things up on my end."

"Don't worry, bro", Kev replied. "It's all good. It's not like it's too late to put your head back down. You need to find rest during a long season."

Floyd nodded as he listened to his cross charter driver and friend. "It is more of a marathon than a sprint. You still need to run the race though."

"Yeah, yeah", Kev said. He didn't want Floyd dwelling on it. He knew his team also hasn't prepared as well as they could have this week. They were a little late in getting the weekend's settings together. They might have a rough race or two. Kev didn't want to think about what Floyd was saying. "Did you hear about that leaked email?"

"Which one?" Floyd hadn't heard anything. He'd been too busy with the team.

"Supposedly VMR is looking for a driver from the Sherpa Empire. It's a major leak." Kev's face glowed with the excitement of the story. "They were talking all sorts of crazy stuff. Like how VMR would put some foreign suspension on their car.

"What?" Floyd's reply sounded more like 'whaaaaaaaat?'.

"Dude, put a Sherpa in a Vannish Motors car", said Kev. He twisted his neck in the opposite direction for a moment to stretch. "You can guarantee that car will be in the running for a driver's championship."

"But isn't that like some kind of sneaky early negotiation?" Floyd was only throwing the idea out there. He didn't think it was.

"There's been a precedent for stuff like this. At least the news got leaked. Look at how certain nations teamed up in the WGP2. There was no advance notice." Floyd paused to drink from a large bottle of water.

"The scary thing is that certain nations have free agents out there. I bet VMR thought about reaching out to other nations as well", Kev said. He looked over to Jess Franssen. turning back to Floyd, he whispered. "Jess wrote it." He looked over nervously to make sure the reigning WGPC World Champion was still asleep. Hopefully she wasn't awake and listening to these 'stockies' talking about her rumor.

She still wasn't sure if her charter was being approved for this race. An entry from the Cassadaigan side was also being considered. VMR Corsair could still afford to fly her car out just in case. Jess did well to run 14th in her first outing. She would hope to at least stay consistent with her first performance.

She was considering running full time in the next edition of NSSCRA. This could eliminate all of her free time for that year. She would almost have to be in two places at once. People around her were starting to tell her to do it. She could also eventually go to Hodori for a season.

"I thought VMR wanted to go with two Vannish drivers", Floyd said. "This is kind of new."

"Markner is doing pretty well in the WGP2 though. Krupin did okay, just had bad luck. It's interesting that they're looking outside of the WGPO pool." Kev turned to glance at the clouds below for a moment. "It's just a complex scene."

"Drivers from the Sherpa Empire certainly have the star quality VMR is looking for." Floyd chuckled a little as he looked ahead to Kev. "I wonder how they'd fair with all the Vannish media attention."

"I bet they wouldn't even need the Vannish media to cause a stir." Kev tilted his neck to stretch before turning back to the side.

The group couldn't wait to get to the next nation. They all had a long weekend ahead. The flight attendant came along with a cart full of fresh drinks and treats.

Big Day for Tropicorp ends in disappointment for Team Tropicorp

Tropicorp 500, Tropicoast Beach Course, Tropicoast, Tropicorp :: There had been a lot of optimism heading into the Tropicorp 500 amongst the drivers and crew members of Team Tropicorp that this could be the race that the team scored its first Top 5 finish - or perhaps even challenged for a victory and stunned the field by putting their experimental team into the NSSCRA Chase. It was also a big day for the team as it marked a temporary return for Cocoabo #28 who had been sidelined since Race #3 in Lonngeylin after an injury and the subsequent sale of the vehicles charter to Vilita and Turori Motorsports.

The Cocoabo was splendid in return - or so it seemed. As the highest placed Team Tropicorp driver in qualifying, there was great optimism that it could actually be Cocoabo #28 who put Team Tropicorp on the map with a solid finish at the Tropicoast Beach Course. Unfortunately, it was not to be. As the race wore on the grind took its toll on the Cocoabo and the #28 Tropicorp / twii.tur Dart finished the race four laps down to eventual winner and defending series champion River 'Shark' Suzgar II. After the race, Cocoabo #28 - the lowest finishing of the three was notably exhausted and Team Tropicorp officials knew then that more practice and healing time would be needed for Cocoabo #28. With the NSSCRA tour moving on to Brittany Normandy Aquitaine, Team Tropicorp officials wondered whether it was worth paying off the Sherpa Ministry of Culture to ensure there was an extra spot available in the race at the Plum Lake Circuit for Cocoabo #28, or instead if they should wait until later rounds such as the opening playoff round at Central Shanesville to send Cocoabo #28 travelling to race.

There was some good takeaways from the Tropicoast Beach Course for Team Tropicorp with #42 Euroli Islander putting together a safe and solid 23rd place finish to lead the team. While none of the Tropicorp cars made it to victory lane it was still an exciting day for the Tropicorp Employees and their families as the Tropicorp Racing Supply sponsored #41 Vilita and Turori Motorsports car of Yraaga Gilli'i was in contention for the victory all day long, ultimately putting the Tropicorp colors on the podium with a third place finish.

Now Team Tropicorp heads back on the road for a quick trip to Brittany Normandy Aquitaine before returning to Atlantian Oceania for the Lantis Sirenia 300 in Lisander
