Baker Park Open Cup (RP/roster/everything thread) FINAL!

Postby Commonwealth of Baker Park » Mon Aug 06, 2018 9:59 pm

Greatful Appreciation to Qasden for the Logo!

Thanks to the late addition of Freeport Isles!!

The Football Association of the Commonwealth of Baker Park has extended an invitation to interested nations to participate in a limited scale tournament as an opportunity for nations to showcase their otherwise neglected or under-utilized national squads.

As the FAC and many other nations compete with mixed-sex national teams for major events, this is an opportunity to enter a single sex team (or a side composed of the opposite sex of your national team; i.e, a women's team if you have an all male NT or vice versa). It can also be a team that constitutes a 'B' International Team (mixed or single sex/species).

The FAC will enter its Women's National Team & as we have interest from 11 other nations, we shall alter the original format:

there will be 3 groups with a single round-robin format, and then a semi-final/classification playoff on the fourth day to determine a final day playoff for places involving all of the sides (1st-2nd, 3rd-4th, etc) so everyone would have the same number of matches (5).
The 3 group winners and the best placed runner up (via tiebreaker) shall have a semi final, the winner advancing to the championship, the losers playing for 3rd. The other spots will follow along the same format with the other runners up and the two best 3rd placed teams facing one another to determine who will play for 5-8th place and the remaining sides having two matches for 9-12th.

The basics:

scorinating will be the SQIS formula that will used for the WC Qualifying and Finals, with the xkorante (additive) style modifiers and a cumulative RP bonus as well as roster bonus. Tie-breaking will be the standard method: HTH result/points, HTH goal differential, (total points for the purpose of determining classification), overall GD, overall goals scored, and coin flip if needed.

As this is not a sanctioned WCC event and the entrants are not participating with ranked sides, there will be no seeding based on relative KPB ranking, other than at the discretion of the Organizing Committee.

The venues will be the major stadia of the Commonwealth of Baker Park, and there will be further information about them and a full description of the country in the next day or so.

The matchday schedule will be as follows:

Sat Aug 11 Group matchday 1
Mon Aug 13 Group matchday 2
Weds Aug 15 Group matchday 3
Sat Aug 18 classification semi finals
Mon Aug 20 finals

RP Cutoff will be approximately 11:30 PM EDT (-5 GMT) which would be the absolute earliest, and the latest would be 1 hour later.

The venues
Image

Keller Field, Belle Haven (capacity 56,500) Championship Final
The country's largest stadium; named for Robert Keller, who is considered the principal writer of the Commonwealth's constitution. It hosts most high profile championship events across several sports. Has suffered a reputation among BP supporters as being a jinx venue for the national team as it is the only stadium where more than one match has been played that the National Team do not have a winning record (4-8-3), although it must be noted that many Celebratory matches commemorating milestones the FAC achieved (300th match, 75th Anniversary, etc.) were often against far stronger opposition than the NT would normally have faced. The most recent matches played here were during the World Cup Qualifying for Equestar 80, a loss to Kita-Hinode on the penultimate match day and the historic 1-0 victory over Qasden in the first leg of the playoff that propelled them towards their first berth.

Group A
Image
Collins Park, Oceana (capacity 47,000) 2 Group A matches and the 9th/10th place final.
Another stadium with a complicated and messy backstory; it was only at the beginning of the 2000's that serious consideration was given to making meaningful renovations. Today all of its stands are uniform in height and consistent in their quality, almost like someone finally planned it out. A good place to see a match, although it suffers from not having a full time soccer tenant.

Image
Queen Victoria Stadium, Ezriquay (capacity 37,475) 2 Group A matches and 1 classification playoff.
The stadium has a lot in common with many of the other venues on this list—its riverside location, easy access to public transportation and multi-use adaptability. The men's NT have played here on 8 occasions, with 3 wins and 3 draws and the women far more frequently, which is the reason why it was chosen to host the first match of the tournament. You'll not have to go far to find a pre or post match libation, with the University of Ezriquay just across road there are plenty of bars and pubs that cater to both students and sports fans alike.

Image
Newport City Stadium, Newport (capacity 25,000) 1 Group A match and 1 classification playoff
The country's major seaport and home to the Naval Service of the Commonwealth Fleet Command, the city also has other things to see and do. The stadium is home to the Newport City FC and the Naval Academy's football team and has been a frequent host to the NT in recent years, with one loss in 8 previous trips.

Image
Jones Stadium, Dalton (capacity 24,650) 1 Group A match
The University of Osheana's campus stadium is no stranger to international soccer as BP have hosted 4 matches here, most recently in 2016, winning all of them. The venue is named for Glenwyn Arthur Jones, who was the founding "father" of Osheana state; it was Jones's son David who wrote the sections of the Constitution that involved commerce & trade, coming up with a compromise that suited his father and the other leaders. The stadium lacks much in the way of aesthetics or amenities, but makes up for that with a great match day atmosphere.

Group B
Image

Sportsmens Park, Belle Haven (capcity 39,000) 2 Group B matches and one classification playoff.
The capital's second stadium, the oldest in the country, is probably also it's most visited and recognizable to even the slightly casual fan. Most of the famous "firsts" in sport history occurred at the venue over the years since it was completed in 1921; its name comes from the former Deauville Sportsmen's Club—charter members of the FAC in 1901---who owned the land and used it as their club's site for field activities and competitive contests against all comers. The club gave up the ownership of the property to build the permanent structure but their ornate clubhouse stood for many years after the club's demise in 1956 behind the appropriately named Club Stand (not seen, to the left in this photo); unfortunately it had to be demolished in 1971 to accommodate the expansion of seating.
The first ever National Team home match in 1953 was played here and since then BP have fashioned a record of 14 wins and 6 draws against only 3 defeats.

Image
Salisbury Stadium, Salisbury (capacity 25,900) 1 Group B match and classification playoff.
Although the city is not technically part of the Metro Belle Haven area, the extension in 1991 of the subway/commuter rail line (take the Red Line from Midtown Transit Center, 35 minutes.) to the Salisbury Civic Center (adjacent to the stadium) meant that this city gained a huge influx of commuters moving in over the next decade. Home to 2nd Division club Salisbury City, who have played here since 1975, it also hosts neutral site matches in all of the major Cup competitions, due to the central proximity of city and ease of travel.

Image
Prince William Stadium, Newmarket (capacity 24,400) 1 Group B match and 11th/12th place final.
Newmarket got its name because of its location—it was on the "frontier" of early Baker Park & was where those who worked the farms in the surrounding area came to sell their product; it was also the administrative center of the western third of the country in the years known as The Pre-Commonwealth. The stadium was completed in 1952 and is named for Prince William of Oldenburg, the second Prince Regent of the Commonwealth; he succeeded his father, Prince Frederick in 1912 and served until his death at the age of 66 in 1947. The stadium is voted one of the most popular venues for visiting supporters in annual post-season polls.
However it was also the catalyst for the unhappy merger of its two original tenants—Newmarket FC, who were the main club and Saxons SC, who drew their support from the suburbs and surrounding county. The two clubs were naturally bitter rivals, and Saxons waged a long fight in order to gain the right to play matches at the new stadium (owned by the city).
But Saxons were always destined to lose the war—NFC finally forced their enemy to capitulate, the two sides becoming a single club in 1955. NFC were magnanimous in victory—they incorporated Saxons' maroon into their own yellow color scheme and altered the name of the club. Yet still to this day there is a bit of an unspoken dividing line, although as older supporters pass away there are fewer reminders of the old days.

Image
State Fairgrounds Stadium, Springfield (capacity 36,000) 2 Group B matches and 5th/6th place final.
Springfield would probably not be the bustling city of over 300,000 if a simple decision had not been made—to route one of the east-west cross country railway lines through it instead of further south.
The city is the national agricultural capital—the food processors & packagers, the farm commodity markets, the agri-business companies--are all based here in the heart of "farm country".
The Baker Park State Fair began here in 1919 and grew through the years to become the de facto national Agricultural Fair of the Commonwealth—only Ezra still holds a separate state fair every year, and most of its competitions and exhibitions are just preliminaries to the BP Fair.
The Stadium has many excellent attributes and is popular as a venue among fans of many sports.

Group C

Image
Rogers Stadium, Endborough (capacity 46,800) 2 Group C matches and the 3rd/4th place final
Completed in 1926 as a home for the Endborough Gold Sox baseball team, it was not well suited to larger field sports like football and soccer; however it did host 2 National Team matches in 1960 and 1964. In 1975, the Endborough Eagles professional football team entered into an agreement to help finance an expansion that nearly doubled the capacity and another investment from the Endborough RFC to share the stadium as a tenant brought about further improvements.

Image

Presidents Park, Shirley (capacity 26,115) 1 Group C match, 1 classification playoff & the 7th/8th place final
Presidents Park retains its unusual shape and mismatched stands for reasons that have less to do with money & more to do with the desire of fans to not change the character of the ground; many campaigns to build a modern facility away from downtown have been squashed by public sentiment. Completed in 1923 and renovated and rebuilt several times since, it has hosted more matches of the National Team than any other ground since 1953, with only 4 defeats in 31 contests.

Image
Carrollton, Coolville (capacity 24,480) 2 Group C matches and 1 classification playoff
Although it has been the home of Coolville United FC since 1949, the BP Open Cup will mark the first international soccer matches ever played at the ground; some have said the rivalry between the city and its neighbor Shirley has played a role, but the reality is the stadium wasn't up to any sort of standard for hosting the NT. Since the 1990's it has been completely rebuilt one side at a time and is an outstanding venue for the spectator.

Image
War Memorial Stadium, Alton (capacity 23,000) 1 Group C match
The Joshenia-Banija match on Day 2 will mark the first event held here following its 9 month long facelift, which included a new scoreboard, new lights and additional safety & accessibility features. The smallest state capital in the country, Alton is transforming itself from a "dull, cultural backwater" (famously said by former Prime Minister Stephen Oliver) to a clean modern hub for technology and energy development.
The National Team have played here twice—1970 & 1987, winning on both occasions—and locals have a fierce loyalty to Alton Athletic Club (known as the Double 'A's) who call the stadium home.

EDIT: I’m afraid I’ll have to drop out, as work commitments that have suddenly come up prevent me from doing RP for both this and the BoF, so I've had to prioritise.

Wow, I didn't expect to fill up slots so fast. Thanks for all the responses.

OK, so we will call the signups closed. 12 teams will require a change of format, but we will not need to adjust the time schedule very much. More like 9 days instead of 7.

I don't think I need to start a separate thread for the RP/rosters. I will edit the OP with new info and you can post in this same thread your relevant info.

We'll aim for Sat Aug 11 as the first match day tentatively.

About Baker Park

Image

For 125 years, the Commonwealth of Baker Park has welcomed peoples of all nations, all ethnic groups, all religions, all colors. Our citizens take pride in their heritage--both where their parents or grandparents came from and in this place—and those people who took a leap of faith to start a life in a new land built a nation which embraces diversity, community and equality. Today, we have 51 million residents who can claim their origins from all over the multiverse.

We welcome all visitors from across the multiverse to the first Baker Park Open Cup tournament. For many, this is the first visit you'll have made to the Commonwealth & we hope to provide a guide to the country and its people, in order for you to enjoy your stay in our nation. We are one of the top tourist destinations in Atlantian Oceana, welcoming over 1.6 million visitors every year.

What to Expect when You Arrive:
People in Baker Park can seem a bit formal or deferential to strangers when you first meet them; this is something of an ingrained relic of the values and lessons of our ancestors as 'propriety' is a word that every child and teen has drilled into their head from an early age. Many of us are only a couple of generations removed from the behavioral and social norms of our Victorian era European fore-bearers. Generally, once the introductions or the initial pleasantries are passed, people are for the most part extremely friendly and will treat you like a long-lost friend and will probably ask something about your own home and what it's like living there.

Belle Haven is the national capital of the Commonwealth; with a metro area population of over 5.6 million, it is also the largest city, the financial, entertainment, and cultural center of the country, and more than likely your first stop on your trip to Baker Park.
Belle Haven International Airport (BHX) serves 38 foreign & domestic carriers and accommodates over 900 takeoffs and departures per day. The airport is approximately 18 miles south of the city center, and there are numerous ground transportation options for arriving visitors at Belle Haven International; Metro Transit Buses, commuter rail, taxis, for hire limos, private coaches, rental cars and both private hub-to-hub & hotel shuttles are available to carry the traveler to any part of the city (or further) as needed.
There are also large airports that serve the other areas of the Commonwealth where matches will be played. Oceana, Ezriquay, Endborough, and Shirley have International standard airports, and capable of handling inbound flights from anywhere in the multiverse.

Currently, the Under-Secretary of State for Immigration & Borders has no nations listed as requiring pre-travel visas for travelers to the Commonwealth for less than 14 days visits.

Within the Greater City of Belle Haven area, public transportation is widely available across several platforms; CARTA (Capital Area Rapid Transit Authority) provides for public buses, a modern light-rail network, a clean & efficient subway system and connections to commuter and interstate rail lines.
Transit fares are equalized across all types of accommodation; 1 day, 3 day and 7 day passes each offer discounts off the regular single ride price, and the system is fully integrated; one price allows you to access to any CARTA mode of transport along with transfers. The Commonwealth subsidizes companies that encourage their employees to utilize public transport, allowing them to offset their Environmental Impact Tax payments.

A monument to the extensive public works initiatives made through the last 60 years, Baker Park's limited access expressway grid connects all areas of the Commonwealth with the capital; our citizens take great pride in the quality of our highways and their upkeep.

And what about money?: Baker Park's currency is the CBP dollar; the country has completed its transition into the Atlantian Oceana economic bloc, so generally $1 NS is equivalent to about CBP$ 1.35. The monetary system is decimalized and denominations are 2, 5, 10 and 50 cent coins, 1 and 2 dollar coins, and 5, 10, 25, 100 and 500 dollar notes.
As a result of the 1998 elimination of the 1 cent coin, the general practice throughout the county is to round up or down any prices that would result in purchases or change returned ending in 1 or 3 cents; for example, a merchant may keep the extra 1 cent if your change due is 3.31, or may return 2.54 if the amount due is 2.53 (merchants and vendors generally adapt pricing so this is a rare occurrence).

Baker Park has a national Goods & Services Tax (GST) on a wide array of products and services; it is a tiered structure based upon the retail cost, meaning you will pay a lower tax on cheaper items, and a higher tax on those that are more expensive. Visitors can apply for a refund of the Federal government share of GST (generally about 75% of the collected tax) by filling out a form with proof of purchase via sales receipts; ask at customs upon your departure for Form 85. In some cases, GST is incorporated into the price; for example an item that has a retail price of $1.80 is probably GST inclusive ($1.75 with a .05 tax) so this would not be refundable.

Cash gratuities for service are not expected, but are not uncommon. Generally, workers in hospitality and tourism are more accustomed to receiving small tips, but the level of service you receive is not affected if you choose not to do so. Workers at all levels of employment are paid under a scheme known as CLAWS (Classified Labor and Wage Scale) which ensures that citizens are compensated fairly and reasonably equal to their peers based on years of work and experience.

What to do when not at the game:
Visitors to Belle Haven have a wide variety of activities to choose from; free tours of Baker Park's national capitol building, Parliament House, are available 7 days a week when Parliament is in session and 5 days a week during recesses; call ahead to find out the hours as well as restricted times & dates. Other major government building open for public tours include Treasury House and St John's Palace, the residence of the Head of State of the Commonwealth.

The Commonwealth State Museum is the country's most visited museum site; here you can learn about the history of Baker Park and see exhibits that tell the story of the development from commercial colony to sovereign nation. The National Gallery of Art showcases a variety of domestic and classic styles of artistic works.

In downtown Belle Haven, there are many points of interest for the visitor; Historic Charter House was the country's first legislative building, Belle Haven City Hall is a beautiful architectural landmark and the Baker Park Museum of Modern Art & Design highlights the influences that have transformed the country's tastes over its history. Also of interest are the Church of the Trinity, Company House and Landing on the riverfront, the Commonwealth Stock Exchange and the Belle Haven Arena and the adjacent Casino Square.

Further afield, the other cities hosting matches all have a myriad of options for the visitor; except for a couple of venues, all matches will take place in the state capitals of our nation, so museums, zoos, and other activities for the entire family are widely available.
A trip between cities via our extensive river ferry system might make for a change of routine, or maybe a day trip via the train to our northern areas of the country, where the natural beauty of our own largely undeveloped "frontier" is strenuously preserved.
The Lake District in northeast Endover is a popular summer getaway for families (approx. 1 hr 40 min from Endborough by rail), and in the other corner is The Old North, formerly a large holding of the Northern States Company that was heavily cleared of its forests for use in building the railways, but has been reclaimed by conservation and is becoming a popular resort area as an alternative to the Lakes (approx. 2hr 10 min from Oceana by rail).

Alternatively, the southern part of the country has its' own attractions; although not a substitute for warm water beaches, the villages and getaways along the coast in both directions from Newport are popular with boaters, fishermen and vacationers.
The higher elevations in the southeastern corner of the Commonwealth have become the center of the nascent winter resort industry in areas formerly used for deep mining of coal, iron ore and bauxite, as well as gas and oil drilling.

Anything else?: You'll probably notice that we have a bit of Victoriana fetish here in Baker Park. You can't miss it even if you're only halfway paying attention. We have parks, buildings, bars, restaurants, streets and anything else you can think of named for Victoria, or some kind of reference to the legacy she left.

For many years, long after Baker Park had established its own coinage and paper currency, pound notes and coins were still accepted as payment on an unofficial basis in many parts of the country—and often hoarded by some people as collector's items. Even in modern times, half-dollar and 2 dollar coins in the Commonwealth have Victoria's image stamped upon them; the young woman of the 1840's graces the former, the familiar image of the aging widow on the latter ("One Vic" is 2 dollars in slang here, while a "Vicky" is 50 cents, FYI)

The continued presence of Victoria's image and the societal norms from her era that persisted in Baker Park well into the 1960's became a source of bemusement and scorn to the generations that came of age during that time; it was seen as anachronistic and out of touch by younger generations.
The idea of the "Victoria Cult" became a codeword for old fashioned values and outdated thinking. The sharp generational divide between those of the post-war Baby Boom and their parents (& grandparents) shaped much of the social and political changes the country went through in the 1970's and 80's. Any objection or resistance to modernizing the country was branded "VC nonsense".
Yet a funny thing happened on the way to bringing Baker Park kicking and screaming into the 20th century. As the nation prepared for its centennial celebrations in 1992, people began to rethink the effect of VC on the history of the Commonwealth; suddenly it became an endearing, retro movement to be taken with good humored spirit and embraced for what it was—a tangible foundation myth and sense of identity & national pride. The same generation who made the term a derogatory condemnation now began to see it as a source of patriotic idealism and a unifying theme for all people (and of course as a way to promote tourism and make that which was previously considered embarrassing and unattractive into a money spinning industry).

You guys seem pretty easy going: The social fabric of the early nation was woven by strong religious identification. It was sectarian lines that often created class distinction rather than national origins or relative economic status, despite the fact that the Baker Company and the Council enforced rigid non-discriminatory policies across all areas of life. You couldn't legislate people's attitudes or prejudices but you could make an official regime that made oppressive discrimination unsustainable, which is what the power of the colonial administration pursued and that the later government expanded and mandated.

So who were these Baker's anyway?: Ah, you asked at just the right time. They were entrepreneurs (or just crummy businessmen) who got lucky to find some space to make a colony to recoup some of the money they owed to other investors in some of their failed business ventures.
They must've been persuasive, because some of those same people put in even more of their own money to help get this idea off the ground.
George Baker was the patriarch, and he had 3 sons—William, Simon and John. Willy was generally the brains behind the outfit; he was also the country's first prime minister when he was 66.

Simon's oldest son, George II succeeded his uncle and later John's son, Simon II (yes you need a scorecard, or they needed to expand their circles) followed his cousin as PM. However, they must've done something right, as their business plan worked like magic in this instance.

And that means what?: The company they founded, which is now Baker International Corporation, has been the major engine of growth of the country for almost the entire history of the nation—they owned the main public utilities, they owned the major manufacturing and financial companies, and provided raw materials to the companies that they allowed to come and "compete" with them on their own turf.

But they were, generally speaking, benign robber-barons as they didn't undercut competition, didn't use the power of the state to curtail the business of these other entities (who were owned, as you might guess by some of the creditors they owed from the start) and didn't put profit ahead of the growth of the economy as a whole and the citizens.
Over the last 30 or so years, they have gotten out of a lot of the businesses they once owned—usually by spinning them off as publicly traded companies. Most citizens call them "The Company", The International" or just BI. Much of the history of the government and the Company has been intertwined, but usually to the benefit of society.

OK, so what will get me in trouble and what should I know?
Here we go: The legal age for consumption or purchase of alcohol is 18, and the sale and use of cannabis is allowed for persons over that age as well, although no importation into the country is permitted—your stash will simply be confiscated and you'll be moved on.
As for other non-prescription drugs, we're not as nice. Possession of Cocaine, Heroin, Methamphetamines, and other 'E' Class drugs (the usual ones that everybody calls "controlled substances") will probably get you—A) deported, if you're lucky; B) incarcerated for up to a year, depending on how much we're talking about; or C) an amount considered to be likely "an attempt to distribute" about 27 years with no chance for parole, even if your government are really nice and buy $20 million worth of goods from us.
We believe that drug addiction is an illness, but we don't believe that drug trafficking is quite the same.

There are legal cannabis dispensaries in most cities; you will need to present your passport, or a government issued identity card with your photo to purchase, and the amount you are permitted to buy is regulated by local ordinance, ask first what the limit is.

On a lighter note, if you have read any news related to the various sporting events we've held in this country in the past, you'll hopefully have noted that we do take factors into consideration when enforcing public consumption of alcohol & what would be called "drunk and disorderly" and other punitive misdemeanors during large gatherings.
Our Belle Haven Metro Police are about as tolerant & easy going as you'll find, but to the degree that You make it hard for them Not to arrest you is how much leeway you're going to get.
Most bars and pubs have closing time at 3am, and only such establishments that serve food can legally open prior to 11:15 am to serve alcohol.

We have legalized gambling in Baker Park; there is a modern casino downtown in Belle Haven as well as casinos in East Liverpool (just south of Endborough) and suburban Oceana.
Prostitution is not illegal, but it's not technically legal either; there are just no uniform laws on the subject. Some local jurisdictions may have ordinances that confine the practice to certain places or certain degrees of "offense", but no legal entity is permitted to make prostitution or solicitation more than a minor misdemeanor.

Violent crime is extremely rare in the Commonwealth. There is a higher chance you will fall off a subway platform than be assaulted or robbed with a firearm.

Time is fleeting and not necessarily universal in Baker Park. Business hours still follow strange local customs and habit, and no one really can tell you exactly what a "normal schedule" is.
In Belle Haven, merchants, banks, the Stock Exchange, the usual places you think will be open early generally are; 9-5 might be a standard business day for some, but 8:30 to 5:45 or 6 pm is closer to what a large number of officer workers and others who work in "midtown" Belle Haven call a day's work. There are all sorts of reasons for this—commuter traffic is the biggest one, and working hours in other nations is probably the second most popular reason.
Plus, lunch is a big deal here--it's considered a hostile work environment if people don't get a full hour for lunch (a lesson that some multiverse companies who open offices here are quick to find out).

Any local quirks we'll cover in the stadium section.

Swibia B

Average Age: 22.76 | Average Caps: 0.47 | Most Freq. Team: 1922 Norpond (3)

QUICK INFO

  • Nickname: The Golden Hands
  • Style Modifier: +4
  • First Team Ranking: Unranked
  • Formation: 5-2-3 WB
  • Manager: Audrey Peterson (Interim)
  • Captain: Hugo Bradford

STARTING XI
Image
12: Matty BOYM | GK | 22 years old | 0 Caps | 0 Goals | Image Brimarny Eels
Boym is considered one of the best goalkeepers in the Swibian Premier Division. As such, he has been picked a number of times for the full first team squad, though has yet to play a match. The Swibian FA has therefore authorised his appearance in the Baker Park Open Cup. A sharp keeper, his reflexes are well known, and he is typically stronger from set pieces than from open play.

Image
24: Benouét FORTESCUE | DCR | 19 years old | 0 Caps | 0 Goals | Image Fairland Harriers
Fortescue is a fan favourite at Fairland Harriers. Having come up through their academy, Fortescue is known for his workrate on and off the pitch. He has also been recognised as a brave and decisive player, with solid tackling, and is often played in the Harriers' first team as a key man in defence. He can be handicapped by his poor dribbling, has been noted for a clunky style of play, and is far from being a member of the squad leadership. He was voted last season's Supporters Player of the Year at the Harriers.

Image
25: Maurice BERNEWELT | DC | 22 years old | 0 Caps | 0 Goals | Image Dubna Dragons
Bernewelt is a highly determined player, noted for his physical abilities and aggression. His strength and jumping reach are formidable when defending set pieces. He is also a leader in his squad. He leaves something to be desired when it comes to his dribbling, technique, and first touch. He is a former Swibia U20s captain, and last season was named in the Dubna Dragons Seasonal Best XI.

Image
26: Argiris ADAMOU | DCL | 17 years old | 0 Caps | 0 Goals | Image Kyrenia City
A player still in development, Adamou has shown signs of promise and has made a number of first team appearances with Kyrenia City. His strengths are in his pace, acceleration, and agility, as well as his teamwork. However, as a youth player he is very much developing skills such as tackling, passing, marking, and positioning, as well as his strength. He was named in the Kyrenia City Seasonal Best XI last season.

Image
27: Attwell WARDYWORTH | WBR | 20 years old | 0 Caps | 0 Goals | Unattached
Wing back Wardyworth is currently unattached, after two seasons at Sovjan Town that ended in injury. Having recovered from his broken foot, Wardyworth is yet to be re-signed. Another strong athlete, his natural fitness has shone in the past, and he is known for his pace and agility on the pitch. He is also a brave player, with good vision and ability to work his way into open spots. Wardyworth also has good skill in free kick taking and in corner kicks, making him a valuable asset to Swibia B. He has previously been a Swibia U20s vice captain.

Image
22: Mirna Daniel JANKOVIĆ [VC] | WBL | 19 years old | 0 Caps | 0 Goals | Image 1922 Norpond
An up-and-coming defender in Swibia, Jankovic has been called up for the Swibian first team before though has yet to play. His main strength is his athleticism, with a high level of fitness. He is also a strong defender, and has been able to harness a good rate of acceleration multiple times in matches. His weaknesses as a player are in his positioning off the ball, his passing, and his composure at times. A key player for 1922 Norpond, he was named in their Seasonal Best XI last season, and has captained the Swibia U20s before.

Image
21: Josèp PAU PAN | MCR | 20 years old | 0 Caps | 0 Goals | Image Fairland Harriers
Pau Pan is a regular occurence in the starting line-up for the Fairland Harriers, and has been called up for the Swibia first team, though has yet to make an appearance. His quality lies in his workrate on the pitch, and in his aggression coupled with his physicality. He lacks some ability in technical areas, and has been noted in the past for poor dribbling, marking, and general technique. He was named in the Fairland Harriers Seasonal Best XI last season, and has also been inducted into their Overall Best XI.

Image
28: Oscar PARE | MCL | 19 years old | 0 Caps | 0 Goals | Image Gjirolkaster Raiders
Pare is a quality central midfielder, with a solid first touch and passing ability, combined with good decision-making and work rate. Furthermore, he possesses a certain aggressiveness, and good pace and agility. This has made him valuable to Gjirolkaster Raiders and he was named in their Seasonal Best XI last season, and has also been inducted into their Overall Best XI. His appearances were key in propelling them to victory in the Premier Division last season.

Image
29: Hugo BRADFORD [C] | STCR | 26 years old | 0 Caps | 0 Goals | Image 1922 Norpond (loan)
Striker Hugo Bradford is known for his resolute personality and quality as a striker in the box. He has been recognised for a good standard of finishing, heading, dribbling, and a solid first touch. He has also been a deft corner-taker, and is one of the first picks for 1922 Norpond, to whom he has been on loan this season from Dubna Dragons. He was named in the 1922 Norpond Seasonal Best XI and was voted as last season's Supporters' Player of the Year for his performance on loan. Rumours are that they are planning to make his stay permanent.

Image
19: Khalil WHILES | STC | 41 years old | 9 Caps | 2 Goals | Image Tremny Town
Whiles is a veteran of Swibian international football. First team manager Ruddie Odeh made the controversial move earlier in the season to call him up for international football, but he did not make an appearance. Despite this, he has been called up for the B team starting XI. His strengths are in his mental attributes, showing significant teamwork, leadership, decision-making, determination, and flair. He remains technically competent, although, of course, his physical attributes and fitness levels are flagging. He plays for Second Division team Tremny Town.

Image
30: Douglas PAGE | STCL | 20 years old | 0 Caps | 0 Goals | Image Pava City
Page's skill as a striker is in using his physicality to disrupt the opposition's defence and therefore open up space for his strke partner and the midfielders. He has used this well in his time with Pava City, and in the last season combined it with a deft finishing and heading ability. He was named in the Pava City Seasonal Best XI last season, and two seasons ago was voted Supporters' Player of the Year, indicating his popularity with fans of the game.

A sporting nation that enters lots of things and never does very well. A bit like Ireland, or Israel.

Coaches & Staff
Image
Manager - Image Pearly White (Earth Pony - Female) - 47
Appointed interim manager of the national team by the Hoofball Association following the resignation of Twilight Striker - the Ponies' long-time boss of some 12 World Cup campaigns - Pearly White secured the position on a permanent basis with a number of impressive performances against higher-ranked opposition in her first games at the helm, including a stunning upset of then-defending world champions Vilita in the 3rd Cup of Champions. Since then, Pearly White has done nothing to give her employers any doubts that she's the best pony for the job, leading the Equestrian States on a Runner Cup title run without dropping a single point and reaching the 4th Cup of Champions semifinals before capping it all off with a second round appearance at the World Cup finals.

Image
Assistant Manager - Image Dreamy Skies (Pegasus - Female) - 43
Not very long ago, Dreamy Skies was a rookie manager taking the reins of Second League club Whitetail Foresters. Her arrival had a near-instant impact on the club's fortunes as they were promoted to the United League the following season and now regularly contend for UICA berths, an incredible improvement in such a short period of time for a team once known largely for producing talent which was then poached by bigger clubs, at the Foresters' expense. When Pearly White first took charge of the Equestrian senior team, she managed to convince the HA that the still-young pegasus would be a strong addition to the Ponies' coaching staff, and thus far it has paid-off spectacularly. Players routinely praise Dreamy Skies for her enthusiastic optimism and superb work ethic which makes her a popular figure in the locker room and on the practice field.

Image
Assistant Manager - Image Lunar Dusk (Bat Pony - Female) - 43
The newest addition to the national team staff is Lunar Dusk, somepony few Equestrian hoofball fans were aware of just a few years ago but is today one of the best-known coaching talents in the Pony Lands. Like Dreamy Skies, Lunar Dusk's managerial career started in the second tier with Crystal Fair HC, a previously unremarkable side from the Crystal Empire which she transformed into a legitimate force within a few seasons thanks to a focus on quickly developing the Grounders' budding young stars into hoofballers capable of hanging with the best. After shattering numerous Second League records and earning promotion, Crystal Fair survived a relegation battle in their first ever United League campaign, broke into the top half the following season, and last year defied all expectations to come within a tiebreaker playoff of ending Crystopolis City's previously unchallenged monopoly on the Crystal Empire's Champions' Cup berth. With Lunar Dusk's undeniable talent for inspiring young players alone makes her a valuable addition to the staff, but her brilliant tactical mind makes her appointment by Pearly White a no-brainer.

Image
Goalkeeping Coach - Image Fire Blossom (Unicorn - Male) - 52
Responsible for training the Ponies' goalkeepers is Fire Blossom, whose exploits as a keeper in the old Equestrian Premier League earned him much respect amongst early Equestrian hoofball fans and eventually a job with the national team. Fire Blossom's prophetic praise of a teenage prospect named Gentle Breeze and his subsequent push for her initial selection to the senior team for World Cup 62 qualifying have since earned him a reputation as a natural judge of potential, not to mention a considerable amount of credit for Gentle Breeze's many successes.

Image
Scout - Image Diamond Star (Unicorn - Female) - 50
Originally chief scout under Twilight Striker with the Canterlot Royals, Diamond Star was later hired for the national team by the Royals' and Ponies' manager to help identify young Equestrian players with international potential, and the unicorn scout did not fail in her task. Among the current national team stars first scouted by Diamond Star are Thunderlane, Cloudchaser, Rainbow Blitz, and Pristina Shine. Now the manager of Stalliongrad HC, Diamond Star has seen her national team role diminished, though she still provides valuable advice to Pearly White regarding her observations of potential internationals within the United League.

Image
Scout - Image Golden Hooves (Earth Pony - Female) - 61
A veteran member of the Equestrian States staff, Golden Hooves has been around the national team for what seems like forever, her longevity speaking to her performance as a reliable scout. While fellow Ponies scout Diamond Star's focus lies primarily upon United League players and her evaluation of their potential with regards to the senior team, Golden Hooves is responsible mostly for scouting Equestrians on foreign clubs and assessing the Ponies' opponents and how their players compare with those available to the Ponies.

Image
Fitness Coach - Image Craig Jackson (Human - Male) - 50
Hired in the midst of the injury plague which characterized the Ponies' World Cup 63 qualifying campaign, Craig Jackson was the first human member of the Ponies' staff and has done well to keep Equestrian players' injuries minimal in the years since then. While fitness coaches generally don't get much respect or attention from the press, Jackson's gift for keeping players of various biologically-diverse species in near-perfect health throughout grueling tournament schedules which can push them above and beyond their limits is certainly nothing to be dismissed as trivial.

Team Strategy
Match Day 1 Starting XI: Equestrian States (17) vs. To Be Determined (???)
Mac Stevenson (GK, #58) - Horus (LB, #34), Erauso Iburrusteta (CB, #29), Hammerclaw (CB, #57), Crimson Mesa (RB, #40) - Lunar Shadow (CM, #33), Fleur de Verre (CM, #39) - Rose Petal (LM, #27), Aarón Aiza [C] (AM, #25), Sparrow Body (RM, #28) - Decima (ST, #26)

The Ponies under Pearly White have gradually been shifting away from their traditional 3-5-2 in favor of a 4-2-3-1 built around the Equestrian States' well-known lethal counterattack and dominating the midfield where the Ponies boast considerable depth. Pearly White is expected to use both formations during the Baker Park Open Cup to test out players in different roles than they might be used to playing. Aside from the formations themselves, the Equestrians have a number of definitive strengths and weaknesses.

First, the Ponies are among the world's fastest and most durable teams, using their natural advantages to tire out opponents. With those two traits as the defining characteristics of the Equestrian style of play, the squad excels at producing chances in the latter stages of the match. But while the attack dominates the second half, opposing squads have occasionally found success going all-out at the start of the match in an attempt to build an insurmountable lead.

Another area in which the Equestrian States has traditionally dominated is in the aerial battles for headers. While the Ponies are generally shorter than their opponents, the team is often credited with impressive leaping abilities (particularly among the pegasai players). Controlling headers makes the team lethal on corner kicks, and opponents looking to defeat the Equestrians must limit the number conceded to the Ponies or else face a barrage of dangerous short-range shots from the Ponies' attackers.

On Species and Equestrian Hoofball
The Equestrian States is a nation of incredible diversity. When many countries make this kind of statement, they are referring only to racial matters dealing with differences in skin color or culture. But the Equestrian States takes diversity to a whole new level, with dozens of sapient species living alongside each other in harmony. From pegasai to griffons, and humans to dragons, the Equestrian States is among the most diverse nations known to exist. But diversity has also had a unique and intriguing impact on the playing of sports in the Equestrian States, and hoofball is no exception. In the following paragraphs, the natural strengths, weaknesses, and tendencies of each prominent species in the Equestrian States will be explored, offering those unfamiliar with the Equestrian States a chance to explore the wonderful diversity that makes the Equestrian States a great country and gives our beloved national hoofball team a versatility that few others can hope to match.

The home kit has a camouflage which was created with the intention of making the players look like soldiers fighting for the Fatherland on the football pitch. The third kit makes use of the Joshenian flag and for the white as the main colour. The away kit has caused a bit of stir in Joshenia as the previous away kits have always being green or red.

The Golden Hands face The Ponies in opening Baker Park clash

Image
Swibia B warming up for a training game ahead of their first Baker Park Open Cup match.

Group B Fixtures
MD1: Equestrian States B vs Swibia B, Salisbury Stadium
MD2: Swibia B vs Maryloupe, Prince William Stadium
MD3: South Toronto B vs Swibia B, State Fairgrounds Stadium

International football season is well and truly underway, with the Swibia B team playing their first match in the Baker Park Open Cup. Interim Reserves Manager Audrey Peterson spoke to the press yesterday ahead of her B Team's first match in the Baker Park Open Cup, against international heavyweights Equestrian States. She expressed confidence in her team's abilities although acknowledged that it would be uphill battle against a strong Equestrian States team.

With the Ponies' possessing strength in midfield, this may well overwhelm the miniscule midfield of Peterson's B Team. While Peterson will be hoping for her midfield to be able to clear balls played out of defence quickly up to the attacking trio, the Ponies will be quick on the counter attack and strong in midfield. Another weakness in The Golden Hands' side is in the lack of chemistry and training-time for the team. Peterson's ambitious strategy has not had chance to truly be tested, so this tough opening match will be a real test. She will likely be relying on the repartee between those who play together domestically, and also those who have trained together ahead of international first team friendlies that they have been called up for.

Janković, Pau Pan, and Whiles, are all familiar with each other from being called up to the first team. Bradford and Janković also have a connection having both performed well alongside each other for 1922 Norpond last season. Similarly, Fortescue and Pau Pan have also played well off each other last season for Fairland Harriers. The B Team starting line-up released prior to the tournament has an impressive display of physicality in defence, and elsewhere on the pitch. Players will have to harness that in their match against Equestrian States, known for both their speed and durability, as well as jumping reach on the pitch.

Our football desk has come together and after much squabbling has settled on a 4-1 win for Equestrian States. However, they all agree that they are looking forward to an excellent game of football.

A sporting nation that enters lots of things and never does very well. A bit like Ireland, or Israel.

Interim manager Elllayandzer Walker will be in charge of the three games against Maryloupe, Equestrian States, and Swibia, as he'll be picking the squad which will travel to Baker Park. If Walker does well, he'll most likely become the next manager of the national team, and this is the tournament for players to go big or go home. Let's see the squad...

Open Cup Set to kickoff with full slate
by Mindy Cartwright, National Soccer Writer

After all of the planning and preparations, the Football Association of the Commonwealth are ready to welcome eleven sides from across the multiverse for the Inaugural Baker Park Open Cup. The National Women's Team will be defending the honor of the FAC and manager Pam Scott reflected on the upcoming matches. "I wish I wasn't actually going to have to work, because I'm really interested in seeing some the teams that will be participating. When we started kicking this around among our senior staff, I don't think anyone would've guessed that we would get such a strong interest. Certainly the names of the participating nations will be known to our fans, although they may be surprised by the different makeup of the various sides."

Among the nations competing are Equestrian States, hosts of the last World Cup, who be sending an up & coming team of future stars for the Ponies that includes a number of human males, which will be a different look.
The Kingdom of Banija, who recently won the co-hosting rights for the next World Cup Tournament are sending their women's national side, as will a foe from WC 80 qualifying Darmen; another group opponent from then--S Toronto--is sending their 'B' reserve side.

The host nation of the SWC 5 tournament won by the BP Under 18 side, Abanhfleft, are sending a women's team and Cassadaigua will be represented by a team of their nation's best male players. A newer group opponent from the last DBC contested, Maryloupe, have entered a team and the FAC are pleased to welcome the multiverse debut of the National Team from Joshenia, along with the 'B' side of Swibia and a reserve side from the Freeport Islands, a late replacement for Kavagrad. And the Federation of the Free Republics, where the Under 18's competed in the most recent SWC, are sending a different kind of entry all together--a collection of some of their great players from their celebrated history.

Prime Minster Rebecca Schoenlein will be on hand in Ezriquay to officially welcome the competitors and fans when the Commonwealth open their group against Freeport Islands, and Head of State Michael Gregson will be at Sportsman's Park to do the same for the match between S. Toronto and Maryloupe, and Secretary of State for the Commonwealth Hannah Delaney will do the honors at the match between Banija & Abanhfleft at Carrollton in Coolville.

DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF ABANHFLEFT
NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL TEAM - WOMEN

Something something something Abanhfleft's next generation of women's team players, something something something international experience.

BASIC INFORMATION
Name of nation: Democratic Republic of Abanhfleft
Demonym: Fleftic
Team colors: Blue, orange, and green
Style modifier: +3.5
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Manager: Ginny Katesmar (46 y/o, North Prarie)

STARTERS
GK: Stephanie BRYAN 31 y/o, Antslinngs Islands Ladies Image
Stephanie Bryan finally gets to represent the blue, orange, and green once again after over four years of sitting out due to a new reliance on the likes of Yannie Redborne and Yelena Valinovskaya to ride the bench while Victoria Carter is on form, but with Redborne now retiring from international footie and Valinovskaya recovering from ligament repair surgery, Steph will now get the chance to be seen riding the Fleftic bench once again. But whether she will be the long-term replacement for Carter and the rest is still up in the air as there are more promising keepers out there, at least according to Holly Jonasson. Finally gets a run out as the starter for the women's national team, at least for the 5th Independents Cup.

RB: Alma WALKER 22 y/o, Rushmori Drawks Image (The Isles of Avon)
Alma Walker is a decent right back who looks destined to be an actual right back instead of the myriad wingbacks who seem to be cropping up like weeds all over Abanhfleft's academies. Alma is actually ambidextrous with her feet and can play in both fullback positions fairly well and effectively (kind of like Tonya Heaton) but she prefers to work on the right side of the pitch. Doesn't mean that she can't do a good job on the left, though.

RCB: Catarina SOLER 30 y/o, Keephall Valkyries Image
Soler has served as a dependable supporting unit for both center-backs, but once again she is a player that is played out of position in most international games that she gets to play. Soler prefers being a true center-back, but that doesn't mean that she shirks from the responsibilities of being a central fullback shifted a little to the right or the left. Soler had a chance to rise up to the senior women's team but a drop in form coinciding with injuries has kept her out of the national team setup until now. Now Catarina wants to prove that she still has what it takes to be an international quality center back.

LCB: Miranda SULLINS 24 y/o, Sporting Ceneisis Women Image
An exciting prospect if only for the fact that she had gotten herself noticed through the Sporting Ceneisis youth academy, which had been a bit neglected by Artemio Peres in favor of getting players both locally and abroad for as much as his team's Bellinsgauzenian boss is willing to let him spend. Still, it wouldn't do to take away from the fact that she is indeed a good defender, if a bit raw even for the standards of the under-21 teams. And an international call-up such as thing can do no harm to her career. Right?

LB: Deborah RIDDLES 22 y/o, Keephall Valkyries Image
Right now, she's a left back, but Deborah is a natural wing-back who has the potential to develop into an out-and-out winger. Deborah is currently playing with the defense, but only because that is her best footballing position at the moment. Still loves to throw in a cross and will often clog up the left side of the field alongside the team's out-and-out left wingers.

RM: Stephanie WINTER-SLAUGHTER 23 y/o, Marinos Thimpodopoulos Women Image (Fhulghamous Peninsula, playing in the Fleftic Ladies' Premier League)
Winter-Slaughter's surname sounds rather weird when you consider her biggest asset is an unprecedented sense of justice, but it really is. Winter-Slaughter, while a competent midfielder with enough room to grow, became much more notorious for her actions both in and outside of the field, often helping opponents and team-mates at distress from injuries or pretty much anything else. Conquered some hearts for her kindness, funnily enough. Stephanie was given Fleftic citizenship on the recommendation of Heinrich Wurzmann after the disappearance of the Unified Sunrise Islands so that Abanhfleft could take advantage of her talents.

LM: ERIN Jensdottir-Jennings 26 y/o, Rosenpfelblatz City Ladies Image
We finally come to one of the most controversial additions to Abanhfleft's Independents Cup squad yet. Not a person living in Abanhfleft hasn't heard of the story of Erin Jensdottir and her friend Britt Hanokssen. The two of them had gotten in trouble with an Anglatian gang and their friend Bisera Haralampieva, of Rosen City Ladies and Pridnestrovia women's national team fame, called on another friend of hers to get Erin and Britt out of trouble. They did so by faking Erin and Britt's deaths and substituting them for two dead bodies. Britt and Erin had ended up playing for FC United of Riuwiee in the seventh tier of Fleftic football before they finally came clean about their status, resulting in the biggest ever points deduction in Fleftic football history and a massive settlement package with Hunsen Loggers from United of Riuwiee for both Erin and Britt. Erin is described as the complete playmaker able to operate from deep or right in front with the forwards, which is why Heinrich Wurzmann recommended her naturalization in time for the Independents Cup.

RW: Elene LINER 20 y/o, Sarvusdalamoive Ladies Image
Even at her young age, Elene already has the look of a future fantastic keeper. Well, what else can be said about the Sarvusdalamoive Football Academy, which has turned out great Fleftic keepers like Maksim Varamoninov and Victoria Carter? Unfortunately, she's slipped down the pecking order, but only because Brook Arzate deserves the chance to start this time. She had a lot to make up for after that emotionally devastating penalty shootout loss against Schottia in the 9th Under-15 World Cup and she ended up not having the mental strength to get over the disappointment of the shootout so she decided to become a striker instead. This way she hopes to emulate some of Abanhfleft's star forwards like Matthew Cave and Ruud Akinfenyor who started off as goalkeepers and then decided to make the move up to the top of the pitch.

CAM: Prudence WOODWARD 20 y/o, Duhblakk Aztecs Image
Prudence Woodward is the third and final player of Panemian descent to represent the blue, orange, and green for the Sporting World Cup. She is the younger sister of Julius Woodward and her future appears to be in central attacking midfield. Prudence is already displaying a taste for clever through-balls and occupying pockets of space in which she could create chances and even score a few goals herself. Prudence has also been rumored to be displaying more than just friendly attention and camaraderie with the team's resident lesbian Poppaea Fleet-Street but that's hardly important to the conversation. But although nothing has been confirmed yet, it could be said that it won't be much of a surprise if Prudence came out and admitted that she has a relationship with Poppaea. Also already a mother after an argument with Prudence led to a one-night stand with fellow under-18 teammate Prince William Luckless.

LW: Amelie RUSEV 20 y/o, Ludogorets Markovsky Ladies Image
Amelie Rusev is the best player on current Fleftic under-18 team after Gareth Williamson. At just 18 years old, she's already looking like the complete winger package. Not only is she both quick and light on her feet and strong in the air and during challenges, she is ambidextrous, able to use both feet to send in long balls and crosses into the box when she wants. With that added crossing ability, Amelie is already on her way to the first team of Ludogorets Markovsky Ladies at such a tender age. Kasper Molak will surely look to make Amelie the successor to Raisa Korovina as the next Miss Ludogorets.

ST: Kelly McGINNIS 20 y/o, Hoventon & Corlington Town Image (Mercedini), captain
The undisputed star of the under-18 team is now part of the under-21 team as well. Kelly McGinnis could very well be the next Chelsea Stuart. Lord knows she's got the raw talent in her veins and her feet. Her only problem is in getting out of Besanza to continue her development and make sure that it's on the right track to actually making her the next Chelsea Stuart. Kelly wants to move abroad to develop herself in a world-class side, and she believes that the Sporting World Cup is her way to gaining that attention and getting that move abroad. She did get that sought-after move, but not exactly to where she expected: she's on loan to Mercedini where she hopes she can make an impact.

RESERVES
GK: Ursula QATINTIKI 28 y/o, Crisisbless Athletic Image (Nephara)
Qatintiki is a ferocious keeper who believes herself to be a good sweeper but unfortunately doesn't have all the necessary skills to be an actual sweeper keeper. Fortunately for her, she's managed to keep 10 clean sheets in the Premier Development League (Ladies' Division) for Sarvusdalamoive Ladies. Unfortunately for her, this performance hasn't carried to her first international call-up in the Sporting World Cup, where she conceded a total of 14 goals in the tournament. But the presence of an experienced back four in front of her could help her concede less in this tournament. Despite being a rapidly rising star in Sarvusdalamoive, Qatintiki opted to cut her contract and sign up for the Pridnestrovian Volunteer Legions in ESTORVIPA. She could actually be charged with treason for fighting for another sovereign nation but the SFA has pulled favors with the Ministry of Justice to delay her trial until the end of the Independents Cup.

GK: Bronwyn CHURCHILL 20 y/o, Rosenpfelblatz City Ladies Image
Bronwyn is the daughter of Rosenpfelblatz City's new manager Joseph "Joe" Churchill, one of the most decorated managers in the sport within the Fleftic sphere of influence. Bronwyn came with her dad to Rosenpfelblatz and immediately settled in well with the Lady Sky Blues' academy. She is a traditional keeper who prefers to keep close to goal and catch or slap away shots from that position, although she is learning to become a more athletic keeper now that she's training with the likes of Yannie Redborne, Marfa Kirilenko, and Blaze Chrzanowska. It should be noted that Joe Churchill would have liked it more if his daughter had not wanted to be a goalkeeper, but at least he as a father won't worry about where she's been before, during, and after training because they're always in close proximity to each other.

RB: Queen YARNALL 17 y/o, Admiral Porcusces Women Image
A quiet and sturdy defender who for her age is already making waves not only in the youth leagues but also in her handful of appearances for the Admiral Porcusces Women senior team. Still needs some work obviously but she could have a very high ceiling indeed.

CB: Christy SHEPLEY 21 y/o, Rosenpfelblatz City Ladies Image
At 6 feet 2 inches, Christy is already one of the tallest 17-year-old Fleftic central defenders ever in the Democratic Republic and its sphere of influence. Coupled with a supernatural defensive ability, it's a wonder why she's still on the bench and not starting, until one realizes that Christy is quite the thin and willowy girl. She's a good defender and good in aerial and dead-ball situations, there's no doubt about that, but she has to bulk up and get stronger if she is to become one of Abanhfleft's best defenders. She remains on the bench to make way for Miranda Sullins and Catarina Soler in this Independents Cup squad.

CB: Tiera WALRATH 19 y/o, Ogovlich Medusas Image
One quarter of the Ogovlich backline that won them the Youth Premier League title this season. Like Wilton Kaba beside her in the under-18 team, Tiera's main purpose is to win balls inside the box and then kick it right out of the danger area. Accuracy needs a bit of work though.

LB: Tien GOODLETT 18 y/o, Ogovlich Medusas Image
The second quarter of the Ogovlich backline that won the Youth Premier League. Tien is more of an attacking fullback who likes to maraud further up the pitch and assist in the attack. She still gets back in defense more times than not but a particularly quick counterattack could still leave her stranded where she can be of no help to her fellow defenders.

RM: SIBUSIZWE Kiggwancha 18 y/o, Athletic Motonou Image
SIbusizwe's greatest strength lies in the fact that she can win the ball in midfield more times than not. Of course, most of this is against girls and boys on or nearly the same age as she is, but when she turned out for Athletic Motonou's senior side in the last few matchdays of the Ladies' Third Division season (with the title already wrapped up for Motonou) Sibusizwe looked capable of doing much the same thing against players who were much older and much more experienced than her. Sibusizwe won't have to do that against older and experienced players from other national teams just yet, but she will have to do it against her fellow under-18s from other countries starting from this tournament.

CM: Abigail PAPADIAMANTOPOULOS 27 y/o, All-Inclusive Haranguer Image
Abigail is the tallest player in this roster at 6 feet 8 inches, taller than even her supposed lookalike Stephanie Bryan. Abigail used to play Sunday league with Anglatia's Ross Port Rangers before Fleftic scouts noticed her during the 38th Di Bradini Cup and she signed a contract with Wallace Partridge's All-Inclusive Haranguer. Partridge chose to sign Abigail due to her size and her playstyle which is very much reminiscent of one of the most famous (if not the best) players to put on the black-and-amber shirt in Sutalen "The Beast of Copper Cuprum" Desoka. Despite helping All-Inclusive Haranguer to a fifth-place finish in the 2022-23 season, she was never called up for Anglatia's national team, and with the country now returning to its policy of total isolation, Abigail was given Fleftic citizenship on the recommendation of Heinrich Wurzmann so the SFA could take advantage of her skills on the pitch.

LM: Charlene WILLIAMSON 21 y/o, Admiral Porcusces Women Image
Charlene Williamson is the overlooked twin sister of Gareth Williamson. The reasons why she's been overlooked is because her main assets in football are mostly pace, acceleration, physicality, and a good long ball. Charlene can also run with the ball or chase it for 90 minutes and anyone stupid enough to try to take the ball away from her would find themselves on the ground almost immediately. Strangely though, Charlene's physicality tends to vanish during set pieces and Charlene could now count herself lucky if she doesn't end up kissing the grass while trying to get a touch on a corner or a free kick. Perhaps that's why Sporting Ceneisis allowed her to go to their provincial rivals Admiral Porcusces.

CAM: BRITT Hanokssen-Hanks 23 y/o, Rosenpfelblatz City Ladies Image
Erin Jensdottir's best friend and girlfriend, Britt has been called "too ambitious for her own good" by the man who would eventually recommend bringing Britt over to Rosenpfelblatz, Matthew Cave. Britt isn't exactly the best, most mobile, most skillful, fastest, or most accurate player available for the Independents Cup, but she makes up for it in her sheer never-say-die attitude. Other things that other players might consider lost causes are just more challenges for Britt to overcome. That being said, if Britt does end up making an appearance for Abanhfleft, it's probably more out of desperation than anything else. But still, no one knows. Maybe this is the tournament where Britt finally shines bright.

FW: Annamarie SABADO 25 y/o, Arsenal de Releinthi Ladies Image
LS: Annamarie SABADO 21 y/o, Arsenal de Releinthi Ladies Image, female
Sabado has the makings of being "the next Fleftic super-sub." No less a footballing authority than Arsenal de Releinthi manager Godric Wexler said so after Sabado had scored the game-winning goal against Lutine to give Abanhfleft a ticket to the Sporting World Cup final. And, judging from her inclusion into the Independents Cup, Heinrich Wurzmann and Miriam Whitaker look to do the same with her for the coming tournament.

FW: Princess GONZALES 19 y/o, Keephall Valkyries Image
A very raw striker who couldn't do enough to keep alive Abanhfleft's hopes of going to yet another Under-18 World Cup final. Perhaps making Princess lead the line for the Lady Revolutionaries at the Independents Cup isn't really a good option but then again, this could very well be the opportunity for her to break through the ranks and make herself known.
