Bridgette's Olympic Anthem Tops The Chart As She Prepares for WV50

Singer and songwriter Bridgette is coming off of a major high as of late. A month ago it was decided that her song would be used by Vettrera Central Broadcasting in all material related to their coverage of the Olympics. The massive promotion of this single has led to her song topping the charts in every single Vettreran province and branch, and leading the OrangeSpin Charts nationally at #1. You can listen to her hit single here. This marks Bridgette's first single to top the OrangeSpin Charts. Prior to this, her highest placing song was LOST, which peaked at #5 on the national OrangeSpin charts. It did however peak as #1 in Polluxia (her home province) as well as Castor and Vicette.

Bridgette's journey to the top of the national spotlight doesn't stop here. She has recently been elected to represent Vettrera in the 50th edition of the Worldvision song contest. She was elected by an international jury of voters, as well as by the public at large. All songs are co-produced by Misty Adams, she represented Vettrera in the 31st Worldvision contest (Vettrera's first attempt), and earned us our highest placing to date at 4th.

The results from the jury decision can be seen below:

Image

Based on the voting nations, Vettrera's representative for WV50 will be Bridgette. Her song is tentatively titled TEMPEST.

Selection of articles from Hannasean sports media.
Guilds, Ministries to invest in sports following Olympics

The Hannasean delegation's inaugural participation in the Olympic Games has not produced any medals or records, but it has fired up enthusiasm for sports in the Federation, according to figures showing record TV viewing numbers for events such as artistic gymnastics, slalom canoe and swimming - and even events without any Hannasean representation, such as diving and basketball. Many sports clubs have reported high numbers of new enrollees seeking to take up sports, and several newspapers chose to lead with pictures of successful Olympians, such as tennis player Rachel Burrell, rower Cicely Averill, and the women's artistic gymnastics team, on their front pages. In response, a convocation of the Guild Houses has determined to make additional funding available to be disbursed to sports clubs, school and universities, and community organizations, to help foster Hannasean participation in sports, with $10 million guild coins expected to be invested directly in sports education and training in the next year, and an additional $2 million towards the Cabañas Effect Improvement Group, which will support scholarships for Hannaseans wanting to earn diacritical marks in their name overseas. Meanwhile, rumors fly at the Coffee Ministry that a bid for a major international tournament could be considered in the coming months as a way of boosting interest in the Federation, while participation in ice hockey, handball, tennis and golf competitions have already been confirmed.

    Controversial "heightist" article stirs controversy

"Are Hannasean women too short to be successful at Olympic sport?" That was the title of a provocative article in this week's Manifesto, the popular literary and cultural magazine read in many Hannasean coffee-houses. Pointing out that the average height of a Hannasean woman is just 5'2", the article - written under the pen-name "Provocateur" - speculated that in many Olympic sports, Hannasean women may be "biologically fated to failure", citing poor showings in beach volleyball - where the Hannasean team failed to qualify - and swimming - where Nevada Adkins and Allie Dunn both finished last in their respective heats - as examples of sports overwhelmingly favoring taller athletes. The article has sparked numerous debates, including the ethics of childhood HGH use or even surgery; unrealistic standards set for women by sports and non-sports media alike; and the etiquette of commenting on female athletes' appearances. Tansy Marchand, the 5'1" taekwondo jin who served as the Federation's flagbearer at the Opening Ceremony, said in response that she was "proud to stand tall in representing the Federation" and dismissed the article as "offensive nonsense".

NO MEDALS YET, AS DAY 3 RESULTS COME IN

This is a special edition, rounding up our results from Days 1, 2 and 3 of the Olympics so far. This bulletin will look at the sports thematically, rather than chronologically, for example all the results for the Indoor Volleyball will be looked at all at once.

First off with the Archery, and we’ll start by looking at the team archery. The Swibian team in the Men’s competition beat Kernansquillec 5-1 in the 16th finals, but lost out 5-3 to hosts Paripana in the 8th finals. The team in the Women’s competition beat Drawkland 5-4 in the 32nd finals, but then lost to co-hosts Royal Kingdom of Quebec 5-3 in the 16th finals. In the Women’s Individual Archery, only Katy Bagby has progressed out of the 64th finals, beating Karcela Kilao (NDA) 6-2.

In the Basketball, we start with the Women’s team, who are placed in Group B. Matchday 1 saw the team face off against Britonisea, losing in an excruciatingly close match 76-75. This gave the team 1 point, and put them 4th in the group. Matchday 2 saw them up against Orion Islands, who they beat 89-79, propelling the team into 3rd place in the group. Matchday 1 of the Men’s Basketball gave a good result for the team, who were up against hosts Paripana. The team had a solid victory against the hosts, winning 73-59, putting them second in the group and in a virtual tie with group leaders Estogium.

On to the Canoeing, and it’s the heats of the Men’s C-1 Canoe Slalom. Swibian competitor Tom Vasquez qualified with a best time of 86.12, coming 10th in the heat. In the Men’s K-1 Canoe Slalom, Matthew Osbourne came 4th in the heats with a time of 84.41, and has qualified for the next round. In the Men’s C-2 Canoe Slalom, Thomas Figueroa/Ramon Brooks came 6th in the heats, with a best time of 93.64.

On to the Road Cycling, in the Men’s Road Race. Swibian competitors did not finish very well, with Cayden Ramsdell coming 97th, Zion Hovell 100th, and Bennett Blundell 122nd. Bryson Andrews, unfortunately, did not finish. In the Women’s Road Race, the ladies came 119th, 122nd, and 125th respectively, and so have not achieved very well.

And now the Fencing. In the Women’s Individual Epee, only Laurel Hewes narrowly passed through the 64th finals, beating Lauren Meadows (LEN) 14-13. Unfortunately, progressing through to the 32nd finals, Hewes lost out to Trula Woodcock (KRN), 15-5. In the Men’s Individual Foil, none of the three competitors managed to progress past the 64th finals. In the Women’s Individual Sabre, both Cindy Alford and Tori Laybourn progressed past the 32nd finals. In the 16th finals, Laybourn narrowly lost 15-14 against Mornata De La Bluc (VKL), but Alford progressed further, also winning her match in the 8th finals. Unfortunately, however, Alford lost 15-8 to Aranliniel Haglinaeth (VAL) in the quarter finals. Haglinaeth went on to win the Bronze medal.

In the Rowing, we begin with the Men’s Single Sculls. Danny Carter unfortunately came 6th in his heat, and has been placed in Repêchage 1. In the Men’s Double Sculls, Manuel Maldonado/Ben Owen came 5th, and were placed in Repêchage 1. Maldonado/Owen also came 5th in the Men’s Coxless Pairs, and were placed into Repêchage 3. In the Men’s Lightweight Double Sculls, Maldonado/Owen came 5th in their heat, and so were placed into Repêchage 1. In the Women’s Single Sculls, Elena Diaz came bottom of her heat, and was placed into Repêchage 1. Ida Walton/Mattie Berry came bottom of their heat in the Women’s Double Sculls, and were placed into Repêchage 3.

On to the repêchages, and we start with the Men’s Single Sculls. Danny Carter has come 2nd in his group, and so has qualified into quarter final 2. Maldonado/Owen
also qualified in the Men’s Double Sculls, coming 2nd in their group and being placed in quarter final 2. Maldonado/Owen unfortunately did not progress further in the Men’s Coxless Pairs, coming 4th in their group. In the Women’s Single Sculls, Elena Diaz came top of her group, and so qualified through to quarter final 1. In the Women’s Double Sculls, Walton/Berry came 3rd in their group, and so do not progress further. They did, however, come 3rd in their group in the Women’s Coxless Pairs, and so have qualified for the quarter finals.

In the quarterfinals of the Men’s Double Sculls, Maldonado/Owen came 5th in their group, and were placed into semi final C/D 2. In the repêchages of the Men’s Lightweight Double Sculls, the duo won their group, and were placed in quarterfinal 1. In the Men’s Coxed Eights, Swibia came 3rd in Heat 1, with a time of 5:35.87, and qualify further. In the Women’s Coxed Eights, the team came 1st in Heat 6 with a time of 6:06.88, and so qualify further.

We move on to the Shooting, and in the Men’s 10m Air Pistol, neither competitor achieved high results, coming 53rd and 64th. In the Women’s 10m Air Rifle, Carolina Record came 17th, with a score of 416.6, just missing out on progressing further. In the Women’s 10m Air Pistol, there were dramatic results on the field. Naseera Zafar (SWI), Catalina Staff (SWI) and Isabel Luciana Barros (AVU) all drew with identical scores of 387, and identical scores in each round. Not only that, but they were all vying for the 8th place position, which was the last position that would allow entry into the final. In the shoot off, Staff and Barros drew again with a score of 10.3, but Zafar came through with a score of 10.6 to seize the 8th position. Unfortunately, the pressure got to Zafar, who only managed a score of 76.9 in the final, coming 8th overall.

In the Table Tennis, we begin with the Men’s Singles. Only Marcus Metcalfe, who beat Asiris Hotzin (QAD), has progressed through. In the Women’s Singles, no players have progressed through. Metcalfe, in the 32nd finals, started strong against Rikard Jereznic (MTJ), but later lapsed and unfortunately lost, so does not progress further.

In Matchday 1 of the Women’s Indoor Volleyball, the team lost in four sets to one against Valanora, giving them no points and putting them at the bottom of the table. In Matchday 2, the team came up against hosts Paripana, and beat them in 3 sets to 1, putting them 3rd in the group. In Matchday 1 of the Men’s game, the team won a narrow victory over Arioslavia, in 3 sets to 2. The result puts them third in the group, behind Britonisea and hosts Paripana.

It’s the Hockey, and Matchday 1 of the Women’s competition has not yielded fantastic results, with the team losing a resounding 10-1 to Wray. It was only through sheer determination that the team managed to not give Wray a clean sheet. The embarrassing loss put them bottom of their group. Matchday 2 threw up a better result for the team, who beat San Llera 2-0, propelling them into 4th position in the group.

And now the Tennis, one of the favourite sports in Swibia. In the 64th finals of the Men’s Singles, Gunnar Crofts came up against Ty Kanelious (QAD), but unfortunately lost in a close match. Jeremy Pinney made short work of Gim Û-hye (PSC) and Forrest Cowser also beat Keegan Young (TLI) in two sets. However, Camron Wetmore, Swibian no. 1, came up against tough opposition in Martin Shearman (VKL), and unfortunately lost. In the 32nd finals of the Women’s Doubles, both duos won their matches and progress further. Alyson Shore/Aliza Shore beat Clarissa Tenleyton/Roselyn Caplan-Pryce (FSS) in two quick sets, and Melina Twigg/Joelle Player also had some trouble with but triumphed over Catalina Vallejos/Alveen Colby (COS).

In the Men’s Doubles, both duos have won their matches. Both Gunnar Crofts/Camron Wetmore and Jeremy Pinney/Forrest Cowser will progress into the 16th finals. In the Women’s Singles, Lucille Hopson won her match against Rita Onio (IOA) in two sets. Joelle Player, Melina Twigg, and Jonelle Harris have also all won their matches, with only Twigg playing three sets against Ikrisia Ilonorivu (VEK). They will all be in the 32nd finals.

And now for the Softball, the main demonstration team sport that Swibia has entered into. Matchday 1 saw them up against the Royal Kingdom of Quebec, and resulted in a narrow 4-3 loss for the Swibian team. They currently draw with Eastfield Lodge in 5th position in their group. Matchday 2 saw the team face off against Cosumar, and a resounding 6-0 victory. This puts the team 4th in their group, and just within the few that qualify.

We turn now to the Sailing, and in the Men’s One-Person Dinghy Alex Richards has come 10th after the first two races. Also, results in the Men’s Sailboard and Women’s One-Person Dinghy were not fantastic, but in the Women’s Sailboard, Cierra Howden is currently placed 4th after two races.
A sporting nation that enters lots of things and never does very well. A bit like Ireland, or Israel.

time

In this place, a tree stands solemn vigile;
its branches reaching like pathways into a thousand dark rooms;
its trunk bearing the weight of uncountable years.

How long has it stood here, in this empty land?
How long has it looked down, to see the world change, to see lives live and die like the ebbing and flowing of long-dried streams;
How long has it endured?

It was their when this land was a town, when children played in busy streets;
when money was made and spent in countless bustling shops;
When old and young lived here, where they were born...where they may have died.

It stood their as the armies came;
saw with its unseeing eyes so ever-watchful them change time;
saw lives disappear in the cold flash of steel.

It stood their as the people rebuilt their town;
saw life move and rebuild;
saw the cold looks in their eyes, as they struggled to forget, as they failed to forget...as they fled from the grasping hand of memory.

Now it stands their, as no men move;
and it sees yet still, though none look upon it;
save the gentle nesting bird, and the ghosts on the wind, the ghosts that might have been.

Men’s Eight Rowing - Serreten National Team

They had won. Relief washed over the entire boat. No major injuries had been sustained. Things were looking good for them. Normally, they would break out the spirits at this point. But spirits had been forbidden by the coaching staff.
All of them still heaved, still not fully believing what had just happened. The boat had flown over the water. Never had they pulled a faster 2k. The boat finally ran out of momentum and came to a halt on the glassy surface. Most were still in disbelief. Slowly they pulled their way to shore, anxious to climb out but in too much pain to row quickly. Instead of their usual boisterous and unruly selves, Harald of Falmouth (coach) was greeted by men with not enough energy to misbehave. He smiled, that just meant they had never pulled as hard as they could have in practice. He shook their hands as they filed past.

“Get in the ice baths as soon as you can. It’ll help.” He was met with a chorus of grumbles. “I’ll bring you some food in a bit. Good job today, boys.”

The race had been a nail biter. Following a bad start by the Serreten National Team, they had made up nearly 100m on the lead boat. At the 1500m they were dead even. The call came to sprint, and the men who had already overcome the massive deficit now struggled to create one. They were dogged the entire time by boat on either side and only in the last 100m were the Serretens able to pull ahead. They won by about 2 seconds over their closest competition.

The news report on the team was frankly terrifying. The cameras had zoomed in on the straining men as they struggled to overcome the deficit. Faces and tattoos rippled with exhaustion. The scowls of pain many of the men wore contorted features beyond recognizing. Still other men showed no signs of pain, those were of course the frenzied men. The strain hardly bothered them but they were forced to keep time with the less energized men. Still the boat had won and was projected for a fourth overall finish. They wanted first, knowing full well the ensuing agony the goal would bring.

The Vannish men's basketball team did the opposite of the women's team and won their game by a close margin. Where the women failed to take a late game lead and lost in overtime, the men took a late game lead and closed out their game with good defense.

"Many games are won and lost in the last two minutes", said Coach Karl Limmerick. "Tonight, things went our way." Limmerick replaces coach Tim Tomasson, who was slotted to be the head coach. Coach Tomasson backed out a few weeks before the tournament.

"I think Karl deserves time in the spotlight", said Tomasson, head coach of the Vangaziland Royals IBC team. "If we're letting the college players in, why not let one of their coaches shine?"

But some players would admit missing the chance to play for the acclaimed Tomasson.

"It would have been an honor to play for Coach Tomasson, although I do like Coach Limmerick", said Chris Parkssen. The center is slated to play in Abaja in the coming months. Parkssen has already been scouted by the Vangaziland Royals as a possible replacement for Frank Hurcle. Both centers are known for their defensive prowess. Parkssen is a quicker leaper and has more blocks as a result.

His defense was a big part of the game as he shut down the middle and forced higher percentage shots. He also put effort into his offensive game, scoring 13 points to go along with 8 rebounds and 2 blocks.

"I know the scouts are watching", Parkssen said. "It's really motivational, just knowing that. Everybody is watching. It's just good to be here competing with the world's athletes."

Vangaziland did a good job at moving the ball. Steven Eaglesen led the team at point guard. He is another floor general style of player, drawing comparisons with Hectare Yulssen. Both players like to call plays and organize their players like chess pieces. Yulssen is a bit more effective, or perhaps he just plays with higher caliber players. Many Vangazi fans are waiting for the day to see the two point guards face off in the pros.

Eaglesen picked up 7 assists to go along with 10 points and 2 steals. He put forth a major effort, offensively and defensively to pressure the opposing point guard.

"I tried to get my shot going, but it wasn't falling", Eaglesen told reporters. "So I switched it off and focused on passing. There was tough defense on us. But we kept pushing and got through."

Allan Clark led Vangazi scorers with 21 points. The streaky shooter got hot for a stretch in the 3rd quarter, when he hit 3 consecutive 3-pointers to give Vangaziland a small lead. He also added 4 rebounds and a steal.

"This is the kind of effort the team needs from me", Clark said. "This is a big stage and there is a lot of pressure but we can handle it."

Vangaziland went on to win 72-69.

Juell Sampsen scored the last shot for Vangaziland, driving to the basket and drawing a foul. It was not a last second play, as there was still time on the clock. Vangaziland would have to close out and play tough defense. Sampsen hit the free throw and put Vangaziland up by 3. The Vangazi played tough D and avoided sending Fluvique to the line.

"It was really hectic towards the end", Eaglesen told reporters. "Either side could have snatched such a close game. I hope the fans are enjoying the show."

Womens water Polo: Greater Vakolicci Haven 8-4 Uzekia

This is a must-win game now, the destruction that the Haven faced at the hands of elssek must surely be on the minds of these girls. It's a slightly changed line-up from the Haven, Able Cur comes in to replace Savenna Galos Konti after her poisoning incident prior to the last game.
We don't know much about Able Kur...she's something of a utility player, someone that does not really settle into a particular position, she's rarely played for the Haven just because this Havenic team is usually thought to be so good. But without Galos Konti, she gets her chance.

So we're at the swim-off now. Grabbed by Petrenova easily but she's lost it, the Uzekian left flat is off now and what is the Havenic team doing! She's against Simons...one on one...1-0 Uzekia. Far too easy, this could be a very long day for the girls in red and green.

Belco. Easy movements as we're used to, she's being held back now she's losing the ball, they could be away again here, they are away! 2-0 Uzekia, this does not look good.

Here's the right wing for Uzekia now, and she's going off. Able Cur chasing, ball slightly in front of her and Cur is on her back, that's a penalty. Their forward against Simons, far too easy. And Martina Simons is not the player she used to be. This is awful goalkeeping from the islander.

So, two open play goals, one from a penalty, and that's half time, and that's a signal for the woman the crowd have been calling for. And you can hear the roar of the Vakolicci fans as she comes online, this is Savenna Galos Konti into the pool.

Sprint swim. Galos Konti has it, she makes this look easy! Galos Konti is going to score! Galos Konti has scored, and just smiles at the Havenic crowd.

Goal after goal for Galos Konti now, she makes the rest of this pool look like children. Here she is now at half-way...just tells Belco to give the ball over, she does but Galos Konti has lost it! That's 4-3, The Haven are beind again, they cannot afford to lose this game.

(time moves on)

Another 2 goals from Galos Konti and two from Grace Mint, it's 7-4. Oh that's unbelieveable! She's off, she's twisting, that's past the goalkeeper and that is truly amazing!!!! Water polo players, I can tell you this now! If you think you're good or fast, their's always someone better. A girl from Celino in Celeria, it's Savenna Galos Konti, she's still alive and while she lives you are not the best player in the world. An absolute legend has been seen tonight.

Postby Dunnes » Thu Aug 11, 2016 11:45 am

Oh shit, this is what racing at the Olympics feels like, I tell my self.
“Dunnes stand up at the white line here.” says some random Aeropag official wearing a cheesy officials outfit.
We all move up to the white line where we will wait for a few final seconds before being called out to the worlds stage, or I guess the worlds pool in this case.
Overhead the announcer calls out the team before us. I think it was Cosumar or something like that.
Then the official says, “Ok Dunnes your up. Good Luck.”

The announcer now calls out, “IN LANE THREE, REPRESENTING DUNNES WITH THE THIRD FASTEST QUALIFYING TIME: JOE RHODES, EVAN LAGUE, CHANDLER JONES, AND THE FOUR HUNDRED METERS OLYMPIC CHAMPION WIIIIILLLLL ABBBBLLLEEE.”

The Dunnes fans on the opposite side of the arena go bezerk, like really crazy. We walk out of the tunnel and onto the starting side of the pool wearing the neon tracksuits given to us by the federation. They’re nice, but really really bright. We’ve had quite a few people ask to trade them for their countries stuff once the swimming is over.

We now walk over to the lane three block. Intermittent to the final two teams being called out, We huddle up behind the block.

“We can do this boys. We came here with one goal: gold, and here we are.” says Will.
I chime in, “We got this. Just swim your hearts out and we got it in the bag.”
Evan and Chandler nod along, mumbling a “let’s go” or “For the country”
I then rip off my warmups and strip down to the black and green suit, neon goggles, and cap that I was wearing below.
My heart is pounding now, at this point I can no longer really hear the crowd, but only the officials and the other teams.

The officials blow the first whistle.
I adjust the block ever so slightly and then stand on the blocks, slapping my quads and thighs, before getting into my starting position.
Once the crowd dies down, the official remarks, “ON YOUR MARK.”
I crouch down, aiming to get the biggest push off the blocks as humanly possible.

“BEEEEEEEEEEEEP!” goes the starting signal.

At once my entire body ignites, each of my muscle fibers like micro pistons trying to move as quickly as possible.
As I dive into the water, the cold rushes over me, a combination of my adrenaline, the Aeropag heat, and the now somewhat dangerous level of noise the crowd is making.

As I take my first butterfly kicks I accelerate quickly. I finally reach the surface of the water, and take my first stroke, but it’s not until my first breath that I hear the noise the crowd is making. It gives me that additional burst, as my next strokes are just that much crisper. I continue out at about 98% of my maximum hoping to have something in reserve for the back half of the race. As I hit the wall for the first time, I catch a glance into the other lanes. In the split second it looks like everyone is still in contention. I break out of the turn like a man swimming for his life, and open up a gap of the slightest of margins. I decide to go for it, and up the stroke tempo slightly trying to make sure the faster lanes to the right of me are still in sight or behind me.

As I hit the wall at the half way point I could almost here Evan standing on the block, yelling at me, “Just f ing go for it man.”

That gets me to accelerate enormously out of the turn, staying underwater for longer than I usually would for a 200. It gives me a half-length lead over the Quebecois athlete in a far lane on my side. I’m swimming on pure energy now. In my mind I’m running in my head the same two sentences over and over again, ‘It’s the Olympics. Just go for it.’ As I head into the final fifty my stroke rate is what it usually is for a fifty sprint; my arms like windmills, my heart like a snare drum. I almost black out the final twenty five meters of the race. The latic acid that has built up has finally reared itself, and makes the last five seconds of the race seem like 5 years. I finally hit the wall, and just see the shadow of Evan fly over my head; just as my head gets out of the water, I feel the splash his dive caused. I can barely get out of the water I’m so exhausted. A volunteer has to help me up. I finally slump in a chair behind the block and quickly yell a good luck to Chandler, who's the third leg.

Will comes by and says, “You did it, were in a good position now.”

As soon as I summon the strength to stand on my now feeble legs, Will’s observation is vindicated. We are tied for the lead heading into the final 50 of the second leg. Evan, like me, has swan his heart out. He fades however in the final twenty five, and the now the North Eurasians are ahead, with the Quebecois almost even.
Chandler dives in like a bat out of hell, and quickly breaks free of the Quebecois. He maintains his position for a fifty, and then goes to work at eating away the advantage the Eurasians have. He works like clockwork, eating away a inch advantage every stroke he takes. As he heads into the final turn, he as all but a tenth of a second made up. They’re in lane five, but Chandler can’t see them because of his breathing pattern. Instead, he just swims all out till he hits the wall.
As Will dives in to the now turbulent water, I manage to scream out, “You can do this.” somehow thinking that a tiny bit of confidence will boost him to the gold.
Chandlers now out of the pool, and asks, “Where are we now,” before turing around to see Will has taken the lead by a slight bit.
We then stand their in silence, fixated on our compatriot, our brother in arms, as he slices the water back towards us before the penultimate fifty meters.
At this point we knew we were on the medal stand, but we knew we all wanted gold.

Chandler is the first to break the silence, “Shit do you think he went out to fast?”
“No.” I say,
“He’s the fricken Olympic champion, he knows what he's doing.” I continue.
Evan then bursts out, “LET”S GOOOO WIEEELLL!”
Chandler then follows up, “COMME ON!”
Then I scream “COME ON LETS GO WILLLLL WE GOT THIS.”

Then as the Will heads into the final twenty five meters with a full body length advantage, we turn into to pandemonium. All three of us screaming our heads off, trying to somehow be louder than the thousands of people in the arena. Will touches the wall, and we explode. The Dunian fans explode, that have made the trip. And somewhere in the back of my mind I know that the viewing party at my childhood swim club in tiny Atkinson Beach, north of Mirola has exploded as well.

Will sticks his head out of the water, takes one glance at the scoreboard, makes a fist into the water, and cries out, “LEEETTSSSS GOOOO!”

I don’t think I have ever seen such pure exhilaration in a man, nor do I think I ever will.

He seems to jump out of the water and we all embrace with hugs and high fives still in shock. We get congratulations from other teams before heading into the mixed zone. We also get put with doping chaperones who will follow us around until we can pee into their stupid cup. Honestly the rest of the interviews, the doping control, the fans was all a blur, until we heard the national anthem play in our honor. That’s when it hit me that I, Joe Rhodes, was an Olympic Champion.

2017 Presidential Elections

Every four years in august we have presidential elections in the Southern Democratic States. President Latavius Cromartie was elected in august 2009 and re elected in august 2013. We're actually in 2017 a week away from the elections which will unfortunately happen during the olympics.

First, for those who are unaware with Southern politics, in the Southern Democratic States we have 3 big parties but southern presidents only came from two different parties and the third big party was never in power. However this year it could change, the FWP is still third in surveys but really close to the other two parties. Here's a preview of the candidates:

CHUCK BARRASSO
Party: Southern First Party (SFP)
Vice president: Jim Wregget
Position: center right
2017 convention: Miltonsburg, WA in may 2017
slogan: Make Southern Great Again

Bio: Chuck Barrasso, the founder of Barrasso Hotels doesn't have much experience in politics but he's a popular choice for his stance against homosexuals, women and immigrants.

BARBARA MURKOWSKI
Party: Democratic-Republican Party (DRP)
Vice president: Tom Sharp
Position: far right
2017 convention: Ocean City, CH in may 2017

Bio: Barbara Murkowski was the Southern Democratic States Secretary of State from 2009 to 2013. Her detractors accuse her of corruption and lying. She's the choice of the Southern elite.

BILL ROGERS
Party: Floyd Whiskey Party (FWP)
Vice President: Katherine Duckworth
Position: center / center right
2017 convention: Neoga, WA in april 2017

Floyd Whiskey Party is a relatively new party, founded in 1959 as a joke but they have since become a very serious party. They took their name from a type of southern whiskey, Floyd whiskey, which took it's name from Floyd County, which was named after John Floyd, the first Southerner president. FWP is in favor of government funded healthcare and education, but not too much. They also advocates for women and gay rights and the right to drink floyd whiskey.

CLIFF WILSON
Party: National Party (NP)
Vice President: Gary Walker
Position: far right
2017 convention: Redington Beach, CH in april 2017

JUDY VAN HOLLEN
Party: Constitution Party (CP)
Vice President: Dontrelle Porter
Position: far right, theocratic
2017 convention: Pointe-au-Chien, CH in may 2017

JIM BRADY
Party: Green Party (GP)
Vice President: Eleanor Manning
Position: center right
2017 convention: Beach City, SO in may 2017

FERNANDO LOPEZ
Party: Latino Party
Vice President: Michelle Cruz
Position: center right
2017 convention: Los Fresnos, SO in april 2017

MICHAEL WOMACK
Party: Christian Party
Vice President: Elise McCollum
Position: center right
2017 convention: Jacksonport, CH in may2017

Chuck Barrasso's speech

Miltonsburg, WA - Here is the transcript of Chuck Barrasso's speach at his convention in Miltonsburg, Wabash 2 months ago:

Good evening gentlemens, this year we're gonna make southern great again! Believe me if I'm the President of the Southern Democratic States, we're gonna free our great and glorious nation from all terrorists, immigrants, fags, women and potheads. First we're gonna build a wall all around our great nation! I know we're on an island but we're still gonna have a wall. We'll also build a dome all over our great nation so foreign air planes from Electrum, Free Republics, Saintland, Royal Kingdom of Québec and Commerce Heights (or Paripana or whatever they're called) won't land in our glorious nation. We don't need these stupid foreign nations in our glorious nation and we're gonna stop sending our athletes to the olympics cuz we're better than any other nations and we'll make our own olympics with only athletes from our magnificent nation so.... wait can someone shut up this fucking crying baby? SHUT IT UP OR MAKE IT LEAVE MY CONVENTION. I DON'T WANT A FUCKING CRYING BABY DISTURBING MY GLOROUS CONVENTION.

Are there any queers in the theater tonight?
Get them up against the wall!
There's one in the spotlight, he don't look right to me,
Get him up against the wall!
That one looks Jewish!
And that one's a coon!
Who let all of this riff-raff into the room?
There's one smoking a joint,
And another with spots!
If I had my way,
I'd have all of you shot!

From an interview in the Kriegiersien Olympic Studio.

Interviewer: Our guests today, Durin, the Judoka and Esther Ada, our Table Tennis Star. Welcome.

Durin: Hi.
Ada: Thank you for having me.
I: Durin, you just missed a bronze medal in the last fight again. Is that hard for you?
Durin: Yes.
I: You had a terrible knee injury and a operation just last year. Did that hinder you in training and in the fight?
Durin: Yes.
I: Ah. Do you think you can still...participate at the next Olympics? With maybe more success?
Durin: Yes.
I: Oh..kay. Mrs Ada. You finaly made it to Half Final for the first time. Are you happy?
Ada: Yes. Yes, I had such a strong opponent, but today everything worked. I played as I had hoped and was able to make pressure the whole time. My backhand hit. I am so happy.
I: Did you expect to win in 4 sets?
Ada: No, Vivian was so strong before, I had really expected a hard fight, but I am glad that I was able to win this so swift and save same breathe.
I: You are now facing Nadine Seiler from Paripana. What do you think? Can you win that?
Ada: It will be very hard. She is playing at home, the crowd really supports her. We haven't found any weakness in the games she played here until now. I have to think of something new to have a chance. But I will try and give everything. Fighting till the end.
I: There was an incident in the second round against Do Nguyen, we have some camera pictures here but we can't really see your gesture...
Ada: I don't know what this ...what she wanted. I was just waving my husband and then she hit me. Crazy.
I: So you didn't..
Ada: Why should I? That is nonsense. She is crazy.
I: Do you think it will come to war with West Phoenicia soon?
Ada: What? No! Why?
Durin: Yes.
I: Thank you both and good luck. May god have mercy with us all. Back to war. I mean Basketball.

Beach Boys

Ashley Dean and Mitchell Cleary are amongst Wray's most successful Olympians, winning gold at at both the VIII Olympics in Orean and the X Olympics in Centralis and Nassau Bay. We chart their rise from the coves of suburban Nelson's Bay to Olympic Glory

Fisherman's Rest is a quiet beach snugged between two rocky headlands thirteen kilometres west of Nelson's Bay CBD, in the suburb of Bluebell Shore. It's much like any other beach on Wray's southern coast, flat, long, wind-swept, often overtopped by clouds which mirror the grey slick of the Hollander Sea. Towards the back of the beach, shaded by a clutch of ash trees is a fenced enclosure. In this enclosure is a slightly tattered net, strung between two plastic poles.

I'm told, reliably, by the elderly proprietor of the small cafe to one side of the enclosure, that this is the very court where Ashley Dean and Mitchell Cleary first took up volleyball 18 years ago. Dean and Cleary both attended Anthony Modeno Secondary School in nearby Lusam, where after school most days, they would come down to the beach with Dean's older sister and play ball for a few hours. It started off as a simple recreational activity - Cleary wasn't a big fan of swimming, so they wouldn't go to the sea, and neither were physical enough to play rugby.

It became quickly apparent that they had a natural aptitude for the game - hours would be spent on the court simply keeping the ball up between them - they assumed it was easy to do this, but upon playing in a friendly game against another pair of boys, found their skills far superior. However, beach volleyball didn't have a lot of visibility in the already-crowded Wray sporting scene, so Cleary and Dean had to make their name in indoor volleyball, where they formed part of the Territory Championship High School winning team, and represented South Eastern Territories in the National U18 Championships where they finished second. But it was clear, Dean and Cleary belonged on the sand. In the summer break between finishing High School and starting college - Dean at Albion University and Cleary at South-Eastern Territory University - they joined the regional league, registering as the 18th pair just days before the deadline.

The pair took the South-Eastern League by storm - they were undefeated and dropped only a handful of sets during a glorious summer. Prior to heading to college, Dean and Cleary were contacted by the BVAW - Beach Volleyball Association of Wray, and invited to their tryouts in October. Despite going to college over 200km apart, they would meet up halfway, on the coastal outskirts of Torran and play volleyball across the weekend. They impressed in the tryouts and were registered as an elite pairing, thus enabling them to access BVAW funding, as well as entry to the Elite League, a national pool of 32 pairs with regular competitions and training camps. As college progressed, more time invariably was dedicated towards study, but they kept up their sport, performing well in the Elite League and climbing to a record high #5 in the country by their last year of college. By the time they were 25, they were the 2nd ranked pair in the country, between David Franks and Kieran Hassett, and were selected for the Olympics in Orean the following year.

Following a two-week training camp in Nelson's Bay, just 10km from Fisherman's Bay, they were off to Liventia as part of Wray's inaugural Olympic delegation. They weren't particularly favoured - there were plenty of strong pairings out there and training hadn't been ideal - poor weather had limited rehearsal time. Their first fixture was against a pair of sentient horses, and the obvious gulf in biology was demonstrated as Cleary and Dean won comfortably. In their second game, they dropped the first set to Ryan Mcdougal and Nik Lizdenis of D Land and Isles, but struck back to level it at 21-14, before demonstrating immense skill and calm to take the final set 15-11. They then beat the Oume twins from LFE in 3 sets to qualify for the second round, where they played Cory Jameson & Kevin Crieghton of Kelssek. Two intensely fought sets went one a-piece, and in front of an increasingly raucous crowd, took an enthralling set 15-9. A similarly enthralling game took place in the quarter final between the pair and Dennis Brooke and Brad Stiller of NEC. They fought back from a set and three points down (15-12 in the second) to win again in three sets. They certainly weren't doing it the easy way, but they were doing it the exciting way.

A semi-final against Esportivan rivals Giacinto Toscano Letterio Padovesi of Renzynistan produced one of the best exchanges of volleyball you'd ever hope to see. A near flawless first set was decided by a wayward serve from Cleary, whilst the second went to the tiebreak, which Dean won off a one-handed block at the net. That deflated their opponents, and the third set was taken 15-9. They marched into the final, and were guaranteed a medal. But that wouldn't do it for the pair from Bluebell Shore. They struggled initially against the flighty style of Salvatoro Ilaroshi & Mateu Pilamorivistre of Vekaiyu, who were rapidly becoming Wray's nemesis inside the aquatics centre and out. But the pair consolidated in the second set and switched to a more mobile game to match their vulpine opponents. They wrestled back momentum and won the second set 21-17. The Olympic final would go to a deciding set. The rallies were short, the serves were lethal and the tension was tangible. Both pairs elevated their game, but it was the vulpines who cracked first, Pilamorivistre thundered a return into the net to give Wray the break at 13-11. It then went 14-11 with a long return, then 14-12. Cleary erred and the score went 14-13 - Vekaiyu weren't out of it. But the pair wouldn't falter, and a skewed return from Ilaroshi secured the gold. They embraced on the court and collected their medals. They were one of the 8 individuals or teams which won gold for Wray in Orean.

Going into the IX Games, Dean and Cleary were the number 1 pair in the country, but would falter in the final game of the group stage to Dennis Shipley & Sean Hayek of Gloriax, going down 21-15 21-16 in their first Olympic loss, which meant they didn't ginish top of the group and thus did not qualify for the second round. However, they would remain in Kytler Bay to see take home the bronze medal.

Obviously disappointed, they worked effortlessly in the intervening two years, winning the Elite League twice and cementing themselves as the nation's number 1 pair. Cleary suffered an ankle injury a few months before the Games, but recovered in time, but it had signigicantly impeded their preparation. But they wouldn't be deterred, and started positively - beating Alvin Richter and Joe Maxwell from Taeshan 21-13 21-19, with their skill at the net coming to the fore. Their next group fixture came against Elliot Sturgeon Mitchel Patton of Swibia, and things started poorly in windy conditions - the first set was dropped 21-15, but they fought hardly from 7-3 down in the second set to take it 21-16. The final set went to 11-11, before Dean and Cleary took four straight points to win the game and secure qualification to the knock-out round. Il Yong Nam and Weon Taek Koo of Quebec were the final group opponent, and the pair showed no signs of slowing down, dispatching them with ease 21-10 21-14. They were motoring heading into the Round of 16.

Their opponents there were the second Quebecois pair in the competition, Dzenko Yakimov and Bryce Woodenough-Grenier. They stormed through the first set 21-12, and despite the second set running up to 16-16, the pair pulled away with a 21-17 victory, Dean finishing with a clean ace down the middle. Walter Van Taarling and Peter Appleby from Electrum were the next opponents, and after a 21-17 victory in the first, the second set went down to the wire, but a sprawling dive at 19-20 from Cleary, and a slam from Dean secured the 23-21 victory. Their confidence was only heading one way as they moved out for the semi-final against Carolus Enderssen and Mihai Ionescu of Natanian and Nosts. There was literally no stopping the pair from Wray, who had reached a new level, storming through 21-16 21-14 with little trouble. The Wrayians were able to win every key moment in the game, permanently staying ahead of their opponents.

Their final opponents were Andrew Green and Alan Wilcox of New Gelderland, who had come through their semi-final in three sets. They started off trading points, before Green and Wilcox pulled ahead - 15-12. Dean and Cleary struck back to level it at 17-17. A block on the net from Cleary made it 18-17, after a dramatic rally, gave Wray the edge, and took the first set. The second set went to the wire, 21-21, Green and Wilcox refusing to be cast off. It took a call from the line judge to give Wray the advantage, then the killer instinct of Cleary took the game and the gold. The unheralded pair from Fisherman's Bay had conquered the world.

Valor, the historical monument of Ndaku

By: Harrison Young, Britonish globetrotter and wine enthusiast

After spending 2 weeks of utter fascination, satisfaction, and amazement in Lumumbaville I was ready to book my trip to the largest Ndakene city, Valor. I remember studying Valor's history back in World History in college. To me and from what I studied, Valor was a massive array of monuments at the heart of Ndaku.

I took a bullet train to the monumental city located in the luscious province of Melo. It was like traveling back in time to witness and experience what it must have been like to live in the times history was in the making for this grand and unique country. Me being born in 2079, I frequently heard Valor and the city of Midland - the two massive cities of the Melo province - stood as military bastions for the Human Liberation Military. There was a massive siege that took place in downtown Valor when the Langor Empire and its allied nonhuman nations attempted to take over the city, but they were in a very tight and difficult battle after the Ndakene Islamic Organization of Humans (NIOH), known for being human freedom fighters but very dangerous terrorists to the Wolves; it was when the NIOH hijacked and took over the Empire's controls for their own kinetic rods in space.

The Battle of Valor 2081 was a massive turning point for the Human Liberation Military (HLM) as they increasingly gained access to nuclear warheads to push back the nonhumans and their robotic war machines. Of course, one would be expecting to see such museums in the city today.

Looking at the landscape during the trip was very astounding. You would see small towns with functioning rail lines, buses, and commercial buildings, and a lot of farms. More than 90 years ago, this part of Africa was underdeveloped, poorly maintained, and remote, and more than 90 years later, thanks to impeccable and grand political leadership, Africa was finally allowed the chance to show the world what they were really capable of, by using the resources to the full advantage and benefit.

When I arrived at the Mbangu Makasi Train Station, it was 6 pm. There were holographic live coverage from the Aeropag Games showing an awfully beautiful swimmer with a gold medal around her neck. In the Women’s 200 m Individual Medley, apparently, Geneviève Tissot became the first Ndakene Olympic champion of any sport and earned the nation yet another gold medal. Apparently, also, she originated from Valor too, which explains why I heard a distant cheering of what seemed to be a very, very big crowd. I saw that team Ndaku amassed 5 medals; 2 gold and 3 bronze. I remember recalling that Britonisea still had 2 medals; 1 silver and 1 bronze. Hell, we may not achieve as high as this beautiful African Federation, but we make a hell of a host. That's what keeps sports and Britonisea connected, it's all the hype and cheering for our athletes. I assume it's just as great here in Ndaku.

I probably forgot to mention, people in Ndaku are very optimistic and some rarely leave out a smile if you catch them by the eye. I could safely say that, for a record, I've caught hundreds of Ndakenes in the eye and I cannot recall any of them not smiling back at me. This is why they are a very united group of people of our home planet; if I were a nonhuman, I probably wouldn't have made it to Valor from Lumumbaville, even if I were lucky.

Valor as far as I saw was a mix of commercialism and history. From what I saw, one side of the city was the commercial side, and the other was the historical and nostalgic side. I visited the historical side, of course, because I didn't really have any business to run (yet) here in Valor. After spending about 2 hours walking around the historical Valor, I was deeply intrigued with the surrounding area. The best way to describe the scenes I saw were a blend of Arabic, Bantu, and English culture in one expanded area. You could see breathtaking statues of the national animal, the Cheetah, around this part of the city.

I happened to pass by the most prestigious university in all of Africa once I made my way to the northeastern part of the city, the University of Valor. Home to one of Ndaku's most influential astronomers, engineers, writers, and doctors who contributed to the Great Reconstruction. I must admit, it's an exceptionally massive school, but I think Doportedas University is bigger. This side is also the area where Valor was bombed 94 years ago by the old and annexed Saharan nation of Genkiania, which triggered the depressing African War, where over a million humans were slain by a genocide committed by the Langor Empire and other damned Wolves.

Visiting Valor will cause you to stop and look back to the history of we humans came from. Valor is a powerful reminder to all Ndakenes, and essentially all humans of the world, to know where they came from. Humans are awesome beings, which is why the reserve the right to progress, expand, and evolve, above and beyond.
'Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.' (II Timothy 4:1-5 NKJV)

A STORY...

Going to Aeropag
Part 1

“I’ve gotten the tickets!” My mother said storming into the room as if it was raining cats and dogs outside, “I have finally received the tickets!” She repeated monotonously. I watched her running back and forth from the kitchen, where dad was, and the living room - where I sat. “I got the tickets! Smile! Dance!” The woman demanded, doing the actions with it. I still don't understand what is going on here, so I decided that it was the best decision to calm down and wait for her to finish dancing and prancing around before I even approached her. My brother, and his boyfriend, came walking out of there room - after being locked in their for the past 2 hours. My brother, Aaron, was a very carefree boy. He didn't really care what people thought of him - and I guess, that's where I get my confidence from. Being his little sister though, he is very over protective of me. If I get in to any fights, he would protect me. I love having a brother...However, he came, his boy came. What's his name again? Cruz. I didn't and I don't like Cruz. He’s that type of dude who would try and manipulate you, blatantly. My mother - I didn't introduce you to her. My mother is a very funny mother. She is a weird mother. She's a mother who dances with pieces of paper in her hand, waving them in to the air as if they were hot potatoes. Lisa, her name, was known for being the mum-of-the-town. Everyone knew her, and that was a good thing for me because I got the chance to go to anyone’s house or they can come to mine. It was sort of an open door policy when it came to.my family. My dad, he was a quite reserved character who always fails to get his voice heard. According to him, he quite liked it when a strong woman - such as Lisa, my mother is - rules over him. It makes him seem less manly, and therefore it hurts his pride, and he likes that feeling. He also likes cooking too. That's why you will always find him in the kitchen cooking. He loves tomatoes, and everyday he would make a dish with tomatoes. I am not surprised that he eats cherry tomatoes as a snack instead of an apple, or grapes. He also loves his pet dog, Buster. Buster - such a cute Labrador and he is very intelligent too. It's almost as if he can speak English with you. You can point him to a cup, and he brings in towards you. Am I forgetting about anyone? Oh right. Myself. Hello, I am Raleigh. Just an average Britonish girl living in South Britonisea, Luton to be in fact. Luton is such a beautiful city, a clean one too. It’s not similar to Sports City which is a few miles away from Luton. Sports City is full of stadiums and large buildings, the pedestrian pavement is covered in chewing gum and mucus from the throats of nasty foreigners and nasty Britonish people. I like foreigners to actually. Especially the Arioslavian. The Arioslavian populace have such cute accents, and I'd love to one day have a trip to Arioslavia. Meet the sights and stuff. Arioslavia, it seems, is a great friend of Britonisea and so, it would be a very easy task to go to Arioslavia.

“I have the tickets” mum sighed before flopping on to the sofa. Dad came walking in to the dining table putting spaghetti on the table (in one big bowl) and mince (in another big bowl). Dad then looked at mum with amusement, “So,” he started, “What have you gotten tickets for honey?” He asked with a sense of excitement - which was strange as I assumed he would've known what tickets mum received. “Basically” mum smiled, looking at everyone - even Cruz - “I have booked tickets...to go to…” there was a sudden pause. It felt as if we were on a game show and the grand prize wad about to be reveal to the suspecting winner. “PARIPANA!” mother shouted making the ears of the family (and Cruz) ring with jubilance. Everyone had gotten pipped up, but me. “Paripana? I don't comprehend” I muttered under my breath, but obviously, it wasn't quiet enough. “Don't you know, Paripana? Aeropag!?” She asked with a bit of embarrassment, “oh.” I replied, “I didn't know Aeropag was in...anyway, why are we going there?” I wondered aloud. The three males in the room gasped, while my mother nearly fainted. “Aeropag is hosting the Games of the XI Olympiad!” Dad said rapidly, and proudly, with a hand to his heart. “Aeropag is hosting the Olympics?” I retorted in layman's terms. Dad didn't look to impressed in what I just said and started to serve his own spaghetti with meat in it, before sitting down and sprinkling cheddar cheese over it. “And you're welcome to come too Cruz” my mother said smiling. Cruz smiled, and looked at Aaron - who smiled at me. “What?” I muttered (though this time, it was quiet enough for them not to hear me. Cruz was such a horrible boy, and he was bound to ruin the trip for me. “Can I not go then?” I asked my mum, not realising I said the word 'then’ after. Cruz gave me some sort of death stare, which shook me and powered me to walk backwards. “I'm sorry.” I jumbled before sitting next to dad in a scurry. I was very scared of Cruz, I heard that he took drugs once...tried to get out of the country with it. Didn't work so well.

My trip to Aeropag was upcoming and I had already packed and lock padded my suitcase, keeping it safe from the evil Cruz. But, before I went, I decided to go and meet my friend, Alisia at McDonalds and have a chocolate iced frappe before I landed in a place forgotten by many. “Hey girl” I smiled before flicking my hair in a twirling motion. I then pursed my lips and began drinking my frappe through my straw. “This is so sweet.” Alisia looked at me sheepishly. “Why are you acting like that?” She asked, “What is going on with you? What aren't you telling me? You aren't telling me something!” She interrogated. “I'm going to Aeropag with my family” I sighed, “I'm happy for you!” Alisia replied, “With Cruz” I interrupted. “Cruz, you mean that olive skinned green eyed, darker haired beauty...I don't know who you're speaking of.” Alisia said drooling her frappe on to the table. I looked at her in a weird way, “It is going to be a pain...I hate the boy” I slammed my phone on the table. I took my drink and got up, Alisia came running with me, and we went to the bus stop outside. Across the street, we saw Aaron and Cruz wearing matching clothing. “Look at how cringeworthy they look together? Why him?” I asked myself in my mind. Alisia was too busy talking to her boyfriend about what nando's they were going to tomorrow and so, didn't notice them across the road.

At the airport, I looked out of Luton International Airport. I had to take the aeroplane to Doportedas International Airport because they are the only airport in the country which is able to travel to Aeropag. Aeropag was a very long way away, it would take hours upon hours to reach there, and I don't think that I can take that. I just can't take that. I was freaking out on the journey to Doportedas International. I wasn't worried about the journey from Luton to Doportedas but from Doportedas to...you get the picture. On the aeroplane, I was sitting next to my father near the window. The aeroplane was a Britonish Airways and had 2 seats on the left hand side and the right hand side had 3 seats - all of which were quite comfortable and had good leg space too. Britonish Airways is a great company - they love to provide for their commuters, especially if you are from either Britonisea or Estogium. They gave me a bag of peanuts. Apparently, it was a bag of peanuts from Estogium, and it had the Olympic estoile on it too - which added that Olympic touch to it. Why would peanuts advertise the Olympics? Surely, peanuts are a very dangerous thing - they kill a lot of people! I saw this boy on the plane. He had the most beautiful, brown skin and I thought that he gave me a smile when he walked down the aisle to catch a cup of water. My dad, however, looked at me - which stopped me from further continuing to wonder how well both of us would look together. Cruz sat next to Aaron, as expected. I could not see what they were doing as they were on the other side of the aeroplane, but I could hear their constant giggling, their constant snickering and it really gets on my nerves. What are they laughing about? Can't mum stop them? Argh! They make me want to scream! The plane finally landed after a couple of hours. I can't believe it takes hours to get from one place to another place in one country - it just goes to show how big this country is.

I liked Doportedas. Doportedas, though a bit dirty and smelly, had lots of great opportunities for the young people there. The lovely Olympic Estoile was placed on the tallest building - which is around 500m high up. The business capital of the world was Doportedas. Telm City used to be the capital of the country, but after the members of the parliament voted, Doportedas won the vote - and since then, the city has boomed and it is interesting to see how well Doportedas has done (especially coming from where it was in 1980s). I was really proud that Doportedas was our capital. Anyway...Doportedas once bid to host the Summer Nations Games, which did collapse. However, they had regained and asked Doportedas to have a shot at hosting the competition, but Doportedas declined (especially after the Doportedas Disaster). Just a short explanation...the Doportedas Disaster was a devastation which happened between Britonisea and Dreamplanet. Before Ndaku and Arioslavia came along, Dreamplanet used to be our main nation for great rivalry. But it seemed Dreamplanet is still reeling in from the devastation as they haven't returned the international stage - which admittedly is annoying me as much as it is annoying the public and the government.

>Arioslavia and Ndaku surpass Britonisea in medal Table in the XI Olympiad
>No Medals for Britonisea for Day 4 in the Olympic Games
>The US Summer Games to start 2nd September!

Olympic Success to Political Career?

Orange Wins Silver, Announces Plans to Enter Politics

Ferkian Broadcast Corporation - Online

(Aeropag) At least one Olympic medalist is looking to turn their athletic success into something more, as Steven Orange announced his plan to pursue political office after taking silver in todays 69kg lifting event.

Orange, who lifted 348kg and finished just behind Oliver Zach (IOA), surprised many reporters during his post-medal comments when he announced his intent to run in the upcoming elections and challenge the often controversial Richard Matiu-Clyendall. Orange, whose medal today was another surprising success for a surging Ferkian lifting program, did not have much to say about his performance today. As with previous Ferkian lifting medalists he is a member of the Coventry Lifting Association, which has accumulated an impressive five medals between its competing members.

However he did talk at length about his intent to run for election in the upcoming national elections for the seat in his hometown of St. Rainer, in the 3rd Shefford District. The district has been represented for the last ten years by Richard Matiu-Clyendall of the Ferkian Christian Democrats (FCD), who has frustrated many with what his strongly anti-immigrant rhetoric, which many says borders on xenophobia. Matiu-Clyendall made headlines four years ago when news broke that he had previously worked with members of the far right Ferkian Peoples Party (FPP), a party known for its racist language and frequent involvement in incitement and violence.

Orange stated that he has been in talks for some time with the Liberal Democratic Union Party (LDUP) and intends to run on their ticket. The LDUP, which has not been a major factor in Shefford since the mid-1980s, is seen by many as a surprising choice. Although Shefford as a whole is fairly centrist, the 3rd District has favored conservative parties for some time. The FCD has held the district since the 2002 elections and it was previously held by the Conservative Party of Ferkas (CPF). A "left" party has not held a seat in Shefford since the 2000 elections, when the Democratic Union lost the 2nd District.

When asked why he was entering politics, Orange expressed a desire to "give back to the town that has given me so much support and to help the region develop and grow." When pressed more Orange indicated that his primary objective if elected would be to secure more federal support for the district to support education and job development programs. He took a swipe at Matiu-Clyendall with his comment that "Complaining about immigrants won't get jobs back. Getting people the training and resources they need will. My goal is to create a program that works, instead of just complaining."

If Orange does do well in the elections, it likely won't be because of his medal today but instead because of his already extensive involvement in the region. Although he has trained primarily in Coventry for the last two years he has made frequent trips back to his hometown, working with local youth charities and appearing at multiple community events. Activities which had previously seemed to be nothing more than a local boy visiting home have taken on a whole new meaning as the well-regarded Orange announced his candidacy. Although difficult to predict with certainty, our election forecasters have recategorized the race for the Shefford 2nd from Safe - FCD to Leaning - FCD.

From the rolling news channel SuperBusiness.

"...and with his dying breath, he whispered: "Son, promise me one thing, as long as you will never ever..."

"Ron, I'm sorry, I'm going to have to interrupt you there as we have a breaking news alert. The Hannasean women's artistic gymnastics team have won the Federation's first ever Olympic medal!"

    Image

"Ah, Ashlee, great to see you on the line from Aeropag. That's fantastic news: the team qualified for the final in third place, were they able to improve on that standing in the final?"

"Yes, Ron, they were, moving up into second place and taking silver. It was a very high scoring final - some extremely generous judging in Aeropag, no one can really claim to be hard done by here - with 16s handed out like rohypnol at a Catholic orphanage."

"Talk us through the final, Ashlee."

"Well, the field was dominated by a very strong Kernansquillec team, who took the lead after their high scoring uneven bars performance and never looked back. Hannasea started strongly on the floor and finished strongly on the balance beam, led by Jenae Wilmer, who'll be performing on those events in the individual finals, but were let down a little by opting for conservative vault routines and an uninspired uneven bars routine by Regan Booner, fellow all-around finalist alongside Jenae, who'll need to recover if she's going to compete for an individual medal in the coming days."

"Still, that's very exciting news for gymnastics in the Federation."

"Yes it is. It's always a hugely strong field at the Olympics. And there are still individual events and the all-around final to come, as well as the separate rhythmic and trampoline disciplines where Hannasea also has representation."

"Does this silver medal mean the team have met the HOA's medal target for the Games?"

"The HOA's target for the Games was that the organizers would spell their name correctly, so I'd say so. But the Olympics isn't about "nations" competing against one another: it's about the athletes, individually or as a team, and tonight these six young athletes can be very proud of their accomplishments."

"Wow, what a great day for Hannasean sport. And I assume there was lots of success in other events, too?"

"Nah, they pretty much shit the bed everywhere else."

"Thanks for that, Ashlee Hollis there reporting live from Aeropag.

"Now, sexism in sports media has been a fiery topic of discussion lately. To help us get to the bottom of this thorny issue, let's welcome our four male panelists to the studio..."

Beograd Journal Letter to Editor
Gregoryisgodistan's Not Almighty Lord

Your dictator has been Serb-ed on a golden platter by our second best tennis player and I have no idea what happened. You were "Almighty" Gregory. Well apparently you're not a god, but merely human. The propaganda you spew is all erroneous and you're probably gonna want to nuke us for being beaten by a team on your enemy's list. Go home and hang up your racket, Gregory. Your ego is so large it can't fit in Pannonia! Go chase your concubines around the royal palace and stop killing your athletes for bringing shame to your country.

Ratko Panic, Serbian Nationalist

The Serbian Sporting News
More Medals, More Malkin Gold

Natalya Malkin has effectively accounted for one-third of Serbian Empire medals this Olympiad so far with 2 gold medals. The one she had today was near record breaking. She missed the world record by 0.01 of a second. One-hundredth of a second is one-thirtieth of the blink of an eye. At the Indy 500, that would be winning by inches at 340 km/h. In swimming, it's literally if she could be 2.3 cm further, she would have tied the record. 2.3 centimeters is a very small margin.

The other medalist was Marten Petrovicky, the men's 81 kg Judo bronze medalist. His journey was winning matches against Arlen Bowmane, Ignacio Delgado, Edvard Fallesen, and Durin. His sole loss was to Gold Medal winner Patrick Yan suggesting at best, Petrovicky would have been a silver medal winner. But bronze and silver are both equally valuable as the there's only two bonus payment levels, gold and being a medalist. This is to encourage not finishing 2nd but to merely aim for medaling or winning. All medals are good medals.

Lord Almighty Gregory Loses to Serbian Athlete in Tennis

This is a surefire way for us to end up on the enemies' list again. How to do this? Have the 2nd best Serbian men's tennis player beat a dictator who decides to be an athlete. As that's how highly regarded Vladimir Ivanovic Ivanov is as a tennis player being overshadowed by Goran Petrovic in his own country. Vlad even did this in straight sets of 6-4 and 7-5 so you can't even say Lord Almighty Gregory is good enough to face National Champion Goran Petrovic who also advances to the round of 16.

On the women's side, the dictator's wife also lost in Women's singles to Kristeen Dobson. Yet again, two Serbian women advance. Both of them are Marisa titled women adopted by the High Empress in Marisa Celeste Frieri and Marisa Calliope Tijana. Frieri's last name is misspelled in the results, but we blame that on who lost to her, the woman who's name doubles as a psychic in Sylvia Brown in straight sets of 6-3 and 6-2. Marisa Calliope Tijana fared no worse by defeating her fellow Slav in Svetlana Vorobyeva. The name reminds me of Russians or Belarussians in straight sets of 6-1 and 6-3. Gisela Stefanovic's performance fell just short of getting the title of Marisa Gisela by losing to Kiko Moreto in straight sets of 6-4 and 6-1. The Empress said that any woman in Tennis who could make it to the top 16 and wasn't titled as Marisa would be formally adopted and effectively honored with the name of the Empress. Then I just remembered Gisela won against her own country women in Women's Doubles to advance to the top 16 in a trio of sets against Tijana Mirkic and Marika Kanepi-Vukovic of 6-1, 3-6, 6-1. I guess there'll be some more updates to the Olympiad roster for next season.

The first tricolor medal

Unexpected. Touching. Celebrated. Historical. A lot of feelings on this early day at Aeropag. With the lights going towards other sports, two girls put the flag on the podium for the first time in this Olympics. The Fluviquean diving duo of Jaqueline Berny and Emma Barbara will return to the Concord University and home with the silver medal in the women’s synchronized 10m platform.

They not only compete together but also study architecture. Friends for more than twelve years, they just reached the ultimate moment at Aeropag, after finishing second with a score of 333.15.

"This is incroyable. We knew we had a clear chance to be in the podium, but we fulfilled a dream with just being in the finals" said Berny. "Finishing second in the semi-final was amazing. In the final we said each other 'we can do this' and we really did our best. We are delighted with this medal."

"The feeling is amazing. We asked for a special permission from the university to attend here and we joke about taking a vacation here. But we have worked tirelessly, despite work and study, and this reward is too much" explained Barbara.

The girls could not hold their tears in the medal ceremony, specially after see two flags with the national colours and the names of many relatives and friends. At the end, other song was performed but deep in their hearts, the national anthem sounded loud as always.

Malouine Soledad: the second paysan medal

Fluviquean judoka Malouine Soledad overcame a loss in the quarter-finals to win a bronze medal at the Aeropag Olympics this morning, becoming the first Fluviquean athlete to win two medals, the most succesful in history. Like the the past games in Nassau Bay, Soledad is in the podium.

'Malu' defeated Tiffany Grande (CKF) in the repechage to claim the third place spot in the women’s 63 kg competition. Thus, 11 out of 23 Fluviquean medals were won by women and is the first athlete to win medals in different games. An emotional Malouine told the press after her victory: "The last time it was a dream. Now I have two medals. I gave my heart and soul to achieve this. I can’t believe it"

"Is hard to process. Be in the podium again is amazing. This worth all the effort. I was very sad after the quarterfinals, but I knew that I still had another chance. I though on it, I imagined myself with this medal and I gave my life. It paid off"

She also said she was "very proud" to see the Fluviquean flag raised in Aeropag over her victory. Her dreams of bringing home a gold or silver medal were dashed as she was knocked out of the quarterfinals by Gabriele Abend (PSC). However, she defeated Ashley Gaiter-Simpson (KSK) and then Tiffany Grande to win the bronze.

BOXING—

Good news came after a new day in the Olympic boxing, which includes victories of Olympic champion Nick Standorf over Adam Longenecker (TAE) in men’s light heavyweight, to continue dreaming with defend his medal. In Men’s Light Welterweight, the Fluviquean victory was thanks to Emmanuel Easom, who defeated Reynold Anthonyson (TSA). In Men’s Heavyweight, Hans Lecce won over Roar Giæver (COS) to advance to the next round. On the women's side, Heavyweight Dina Townsend is in the 8th-finals, after his victory against Ärika Ankerten (ZTR). Now she will face Dazzanator1093 (QUE). The only bad news of the day was the defeat of Roger O’Clery in Men’s Welterweight against Jacobo Agustín (MAP)

HOCKEY—

Despite their nickname, the Young Lions are a mature team. Thus, at least from outside, leaves a hole for the ilussion. They arrived to Aeropag with a clear game idea, a good qualifiers and high expectatives. However, in the two previous games, Fluvique had a defeat and a draw, bringing some doubts and worries. Today, they had to win. For them, for the fans and for the confidence. And they did it, strongly, with authority. The Lions want to leave their current place, the little brother of The Panthers, and become a pair of the women's team.

They were better, much betther than Valanora. And so the adversary down to a minimum in the first half. It was an absolute mastery of a team that defined the match much earlier than expected, thank to the numerous scoring chances they had. Ezequiel Noguiera extended his scroing streak in the tournament when he scored after a cross from the right. Despite the 1-0, Fluvique continued to dominate, marking the tempo with the movement of its midfielders and the power of its forwards. That game control finished in a second goal of Noguiera before the end of the first quarter.

Thanks to a sucession of penalty corners, Fluvique increased the difference. First was Bart Tijn, in the first minute of the second quarter. And five later, Carlos Lammert scored the great 4-0 in the first half.

Just at that moment, after eleven penalty corners, Fluvique lifted his foot off the accelerator. And Valanora could approach. And reduce the gap with a penalty corner goal of Taurfaradion Toraalvaas. And they scored again, at the start of the last quarter. This time was a field goal of Elgon Tallothtinu. With only five minutes to go, Brad Sawyer scored after a rebound from penalty corner to put the final score of 5-2.

Fluviquean players don't talk about the future. This was the first victory in a tournament harder than expected. Their preparation and training prior to the Olympics was to go for a medal. It's a tough tournament and the Young Lions seems to be starting to play at their best. However, they don't think in other thing rather than the upcoming match.

TENNIS—

The maxim hope in tennis, Juan Gabriel Fernandez, won again in three sets over Triston Grieve, in the 32nd-finals. The Fluviquean crowd, which once again filled the court, saw a strange and changing game. Fernandez started the match as a whirlwind, winning five games in a row to win that first set by 6-1. In the second set, the match seemed to start, with a more stable game of his rival. However, a couple of unforced errors with his backhand and a drop on his first serve %, led to a 6-4 to Triston Grieve.

Then, the match completely changed. Juan Gabriel was agaim himself, with his powerfull forehand and deadly serve. Thus, a new 6-1, quick and secure, put him in the next round. After a few hours, he went to the court again. This time ended in defeat with Tommy Van Houte. In a hard match, the Fluviquean pair lost in three sets with Tad Kasai/Ken Kasai (DUN) by 7-6, 6-7 and 2-6.

Matthias Riley had a more quiet day, winning in straight sets against Paul Chinra (TOB) by 6-4 and 6-2. On the women's side, the last Fluviquean is out. Giselle Delkem was knocked out by Samantha Powell (KAN) in two sets (7-5, 6-4). This evening a press release informed the fixture of the mixed doubles: Krista Fournier and Juan Gabriel Fernandez will face Rob Djokić and Ana Volandić (THA)

INDOOR VOLLEYBALL—

The Olympic Tower is about to explode in red, white and yellow. The fans start their party in the stands. The Olympic Champion is match point. They know they are close to continue this amazing streak. Only a handful of second later the, the Long Ones defeat Abaja by 3-1 (25-11, 26-24, 22-25 and 25-23) to get his second victory in this Games. The victory against a strong team, with high players, is a good notice for Fluvique: the national side is getting used to beat teams with more height and the positives signs continue. "The winning teams get used to be when they win", said the captain Corey Preston.

The Fluviquean weapons to beat Abaja went through the serve and defence. In the net, Fluvique was almost unbeatable, despite the differences, and also found virtues in other sides. Fluvique had a brilliant first set in which Eric Ragnvald was the determining factor. But the man from Alkanter was accompanied with a team that worked as such.

The second set was a roller coaster, with steep slopes on both teams. In fact, two consecutive blocks of Arsène Maurice and an ace of Eric Ragnvald gave the national side an advantage of 9-5 to the dismay of Abaja. However the adversary recovered and put on a 8-2 run to take a 13-11 advantage. Of course from that moment everything went to Fluvique and Clayd ruled the set with a great shot to score the 26th point.

In the third set, Abaja paid in the same coin. And the concept not only means that they scored almost the same points than in the previous set but also scored with the same shots (17) and became irrepressible in offensive. Abaja imprved significantly and there the team effort of Jantje's boys wasn't enough

The fourth set was the closing of the story, of the party, of emotion. Abaja took a lead but Fluvique recovered and reached that final at full orchestra in the hands of an impressive Clayd. They were 20-20 and appeared Ragnvald blocking for the 21-20, two great serves of the Fluviquean star to the 23-20 and a point of Keegan put the 24-20. Fluvique had to wait four more points, until a failure in Abaja's serve to spark the irrepressible joy

Fluvique took its second step in the tournament. Now is time to rest and continue focused. But somewhere in the Olympic Tower, Nassau Bay's elves are lying around.

Something in the Water?

It is perhaps a good thing that the Vanorian delegation brought their own food and beverage while here in Paripana for the Olympics, as the behavior and conduct of numerous delegations has been quite concerning. The acts committed by the various athletes and traveling supporters has been so atrocious and out of what one would think would be reason, that there is some minor fear that there has been some sort of drug introduced into the water supply in the host nation. As it currently stands, both the athletes and supporters have been engaging in activities that seem to suggest that they are under the effect of some hallucinogen or perhaps a drug that has severely impaired their judgement as well as lowered their inhibitions. The acts are of such awful behavior that they ought not be reported in their fullest, although a simple search on the internet would no doubt lead to one of the many different events that have thus far transpired in Aeropag and the other Olympic venues.

As far as the sporting competition itself, it has been a very unfortunate display of mediocrity from the Vanorian delegation, with several of the best medal candidates for the team being eliminated before the medal rounds. While the field has been expanded in archery and fencing, it was still believed that these sports where quite within the reach of the skill of the Vanorian athletes that were heading to Aeropag to compete. However, the results have been far from rewarding, as a mere silver and bronze in those events across all the disciplines have been won. Given that these were the two sports where Vanorians were highly rating their chances to earn a gold, outside the very competitive football, to come up that short across the board is more than a little disappointing, especially when going out to athletes that then slip up in the next round.

With the best chances for Vanorians to be on the podium now having come and gone by, most citizens are expected to have their interest greatly wane in the competition, with the EPB expecting only the football matches to meet any sort of industry standards. It is unfortunate, though this has certainly become commonplace with the Olympic Games, and that these games seemed to be plagued by porous behavior by not only the supporters but also athletes and official members of the delegation is quite understandable why the viewership would be turned off after the medal hopes have faded. The goal of ten medals seems quite the dream at this point, with the delegation currently sitting at three, though there are still a few athletes that may yet surprise. There has been some modicum of success in the tennis and volleyball, though it would be quite the achievement if those athletes and teams can overcome the rest of the field to podium. As such, the hopes will rest on the shoulders of the football teams to come through for the nation, perhaps it is a bit of poetic justice given how apart from archery, football was the first of sporting disciplines to take root in the Eternal Empire.

Subject: Daily Update - Day 4

Dear Athletes and Staff members,

Good evening. I hope all of you had great time during today's competition and hope that the stay has been comfortable and safe in Paripana. With today's newsletter going to be in a lot conciser form for reading purpose, it will be consisted of a small list of congratulations, warnings and encouragements:

Firstly, the RQOC would like to congratulate Eric Chan (21, Kingston), Francois Duchesne (25, Aylmer, Outaouais), Enrique Garcia (31, Moncton), and Gaucho Shim (22, California City) for winning the first medal of the day. The quartet, who entered the tournament with low expectations of medaling, exceeded expectations and overcame significant pressure as they landed the bronze medal in Men's 4x200m Freestyle Relay. Royal Kingdom of Quebec and its 62-million people of the north would like to congratulate them for their successful achievement.

It was not the only medal of the day, as you already know by this point, as Karl Pyeon (34, Val d'Or) landed the 2nd medal of the day in Canoe Slalom—Men’s C-1 event. Pyeon, who managed to just make it through on the semifinal as the last qualifier, went on fire, as he landed his country the bronze medal in his event with 88.19. A wholehearted message of congratulations goes forward to Mr. Pyeon for their achievements.

For those who remain on board, fighting for their chances of a medal and/or achievement, the RQOC and all of us out here wish you the best of luck. Whether you win or not does not matter, as long as you put your best.

Secondly, the delegation's barbecue night will be tomorrow evening, starting from 19:00 to 03:00, Paripana time, with the location, invitations and schedules to be available via attachments from this email. We expect it to happen in 4 different locations where any one of you are welcome to come, eat and possibly celebrate. Food, alcohol and marijuana, as well as video games and other events (such as trivia quiz night) will be provided by the event staff prepared and consisting of the members from the RQOC and Team Quebec.

Thirdly, the RQOC has heard disturbing, dangerous reports of some immature display of actions committed by those of certain delegations. While those delegations will not be named, thanks to how much news there have been over those idiots thanks to the mainstream and non-mainstream media, we do know that certain delegations are- more or less dangerous- than the remaining 70+ delegations. Such pranks may be tolerated in other places and those of RQOC are fine with that, but to launch such attack on other delegations by certain bunch of immature athletes is simply worrying. Please exercise extreme vigilance and avoid all those belonging to certain delegations involved in the situation, because we do not want any one of us to be injured, maimed or killed due to idiotic measures taken by others.

Fourthly, the RQOC has heard many reports of foreign athletes possibly trying to access either of the ships the members of Team Quebec are housed in. While the RQOC welcomes our athletes and staff members to foster and enjoy harmonious relations with those of other nationalities, we also worry that the security barriers built and installed to protect us from any possible risk of terrorism can be breached with this. Thus, please understand that only those with the security pass dedicated to those of RQOC, Quebecois athletes, staff members and family members will be granted access to either of our ships.

Fifthly, the members of the fencing team, in light of recent allegations made by few journalists stationed in Olympic Tower regarding possible doping by Judean and Mattijanan fencers (OOC: This is purely IC tabloid shit), are asked to continue their silence on shutting down any possible questions regarding such matter. The RQFF and RQOC do not wish to generate any sort of unnecessary, useless controversy to balloon from pieces of garbage journalism by the Giregis (OOC: it means yellow journalists, with particularly negative cannotation). We are not going to have the repetition of last olympics, where the keyboard battle happened between journalists across the multiverse.

Sixthly, this also applies to every one of you who's part of Team Quebec. Please don't fool around and make stupid comments that may offend other nations. This includes any post-match media conference, interviews or news articles comments. We don't want you to be as stupid nor tact-lacking when saying the words like some members of the media from Serbian Empire. Their tendencies in provoking Gregoryisgodistanis during the olympics is not in any way wise and should not be followed by any one of you.

Seventhly, the Trojana Co. has informed us that there will be 50,000 extra condoms provided for those in need, on top of 100,000 we already have on board. Plentiful and comfortable, they will be available in each floor, on one of the machines. Should any machine run out of condoms, please inform any members of the cabin crew who will restock the supplies.

Eighthly, We would like to inform all those not in competitions that smoking of any sort is prohibited outside of existing smoking rooms. Both of our ships are where our athletes train, study and have their personal time. It is not a place for you to blast your fumes all over others' faces and cause them unneeded discomfort.

And last but not the least, we would like to wish our athletes good luck as we enter the Day 5 tomorrow. Vive le Royaume du Quebec!

Yours Sincerely,
Jacques IX

Premier Levinile,

I do in fact remember our first meeting fondly - it was a particularly cold day in Eldura, but the city had a picturesque snowfall that seemed to have a sort of postcard feel to it. You were still wrestling control over the nation but at that moment you appeared to have the upper hand. In lieu of that, you asked both myself and the Vekaiyun National Olympic Council to prepare for the next Summer Olympiad. You had promised me that you would not meddle in our affairs, and that promised was kept. It was rather liberating to finally have control over our delegation, allow shooting into our ranks, and pool athletes noted not for their loyalty to a now-dead cause but simply pick athletes based on merit. In turn, the Vekaiyun delegation rewarded this technique by improving from 18th to 8th in the medal standings. We all remember that fondly.

There was a particular phrase you said which stayed with me... something akin to "the Vekaiyun people need these Olympics now more than ever. They need to turn their attention to something that involves friendly competition and a little national pride." Something like that. I must say that I hold that belief firmly to my heart. Consequently, I do not feel the need to corral emotions if passion bubbles over. I have an important reason why.

You seem to think that this delegation is to present the Vekaiyun spirit. That is indeed a fair assessment, but I must disagree. This delegation is a small slice of our very nation - their thoughts, hopes, fears, and dreams. We mustn't attempt to stifle those qualities. What they say and do often fall in-line with what our nation does - we do not provide filters to these people as it increases their connectivity to the fans.

Several of our athletes feel slighted based on several reasons which seem to stem from what they view as discrimination. Despite the policies and procedures you and your regime have instigated in order to remove the drudges of fervent nationalism, they cannot change the mindset of the Vekaiyun with respect to how we view ourselves and how we think the world views us. And when they perform their hearts out and still do not win, they search for reasons why. Perhaps the easiest and most convenient way to excuse this is to blame external factors, such as judges. Regardless, what they say is what many Vekaiyuns feel, and while we shouldn't encourage this, we should allow them to speak their minds. Perhaps it comes off as whining, but in my view it demonstrates the freedom in our nation - our athletes can say what is on their minds and act as they see fit within reason. Candidly, I cannot stop being proud of that. I can't instruct my athletes to, for instance, prepare written statements or filter their thoughts.

Also, it should be noted that our bronze medalist Yamano Viri voiced his beliefs that the judging thus far has been rather fair throughout this competition in today's V3 News Brief. So not all athletes feel this way.

We are looking into these matters and if we feel the need to bring this to the attention of the Olympic Council, we will do so. I appreciate your interest in these matters, and will report any findings directly to you if you wish.

One final bit: I do hope one day you are able to attend these Olympic events live. While I cannot begin to understand the taxing nature and time constraints of leading a nation, I believe it would mean a lot to the athletes and the fans in general if their leader were to appear. As you said to me several years ago, perhaps a positive moment would provide the distraction in this

Very respectfully,

Centralis Herald - Comment - Miranda Lawrence

Yet even more accusations surface -- why isn't anyone doing anything about it?

The Olympic Council are known for being a pack of do-nothing bureaucrats, and at its helm is Vice-President Sally Lines, who is also an Electrumite. It seems that Ms. Lines seems to not care about the safety, wellbeing and integrity of the competition so far, with so many moral and conventional rules being broken in these Olympics.

In a particularly disturbing incident, gymnasts of a certain nation have been flashing the monks of the Archregimancy. Plain and simple, they should be locked up! Where are the parents of these gymnasts voicing their disapproval? Do they know that 'flashing' whether from a male or a female is sexual assault? Yet the Olympic Council, and especially vice-president of the Olympic Council Sally Lines have done nothing about the situation so far.

Amongst the debauchery and sin so far in the competition, it is very surprising to see the Archregimancy calling these games "sexual licenses". I think it is wholly inappropriate to say that they are handing out "sexual licenses" (as I understand it, I can't quite understand their accents), because "sexual licenses" should not be issued at all. Athletes should not be having sex at all in the village. It is inappropriate, and there are children who look up to these athletes! Won't somebody think of the children?

The Quebecois monarch, who sent an email to all of their athletes saying that fifty-thousand extra condoms have been added to their very own ship that was built to house their athletes. We all know why they hired a ship, and there's only one reason why they would have those condoms. It is to ensure that they have an 'all-day cruise', or an 'all-day party' where there is so much sin going anywhere that it is too dangerous for the athlete's village. That is why they must contain it to the ships. It is all very suspicious indeed. The King, by endorsing this behaviour, is therefore directly responsible for all of this sin going on. And I'm sure that God will look at him unfavourably, as he could have stopped all of this from happening.

What's even more worrying is that the lamestream media have either been a) Dutifully reporting about the circumstances, glorifying the situation even more, without even condemning the athletes which have done said sinful activities or b) Chosen not to report about it at all, thus sweeping it under the carpet and giving the illusion that this type of behaviour is acceptable. The only option for these media agencies is to apologise right now, and to immediately start condemning the athletes in question. It is only with public and moral shame that we may finally bring sense into the people.

Dear Athletes and Coaches,

Firstly, our congratulations go out to the two teams of the hour: the equestrian team, composed of Lance Buckelew, Talia Burgher, Dino Clara, Elenora Lesh and Antonietta Trevarthen - and the women's artistic gymnastics team, composed of Lita Baity, Angelina Eppler, Dominica Folk, Beulah Keef, Lashell Ramerez and Tomiko Singley. The Equestrian team rode a faultless jumping qualifier to secure the gold medal by a massive margin over Liventia. Unfortunately for Talia Burgher and Dino Clara, who entered the jumping final in first and third place, mistakes were costly as Dino missed out on her second medal of the day, while Talia secured a bronze that could have been so much more; but in the process became Kernansquillec's most decorated Olympian with two medals to her name, not bad for a day's work. Meanwhile, at the Olympic Tower, the gymnastics' team put in a masterclass performance twice scoring over 49 and doing just enough to hold off a talented Hannasea line-up.

Secondly, members of both the equestrian eventing and women's artistic gymnastics teams are invited to collect their heart-shapped boxes of chocolates at the lobby as the first teams to win a medal outside of the Aeropag Natatorium and at the Olympic Tower. Dino Clara shall however not receive an additional box of chocolates as the first male to medal, as the NOC considers that it's meaning of male medallist referred to an all-male event, rather than a mixed event such as equestrian eventing. We will however ensure the box he receives for the team performance is a very big box.

Thirdly, the NOC also congratulates Patience Hohl and Kristeen Dobson for reaching the last 32 of the women's singles. Kernansquillec has yet to win a medal in tennis but our hopes remain very much alive. We also congratulate Buck Holeman for his split-decision victory over Uzekian rival Michel Lacroix to reach the last sixteen of the men's Light Heavyweight. The first sailing events have also seen a few promising starts, while the men's rugby sevens team have picked up their first victory to top their group.

Fourthly, in light of the "Games of the Sexual Licenses" "controversy", Kernansquillecan athletes are informed that the NOC would not object to athletes exposing themselves in front of members of the Archregimancy and Electrum delegations. It would appear they are both somewhat allergic to skin exposed anywhere from the neck down to the ankles. The NOC also informs athletes that the first to manage to win a medal thanks to this technique will forever be one of the greatest Olympians of all-time. However, any athletes who loses a race (or worse still, a medal) while undressing shall be sent home on a plane immediately. Additionally, members of the delegation who succeed in seducing a member of the Archregimancy or Electrum delegations will receive a bag of penis-shaped sweets, because bravo!

Fifthly, the NOC has decided that due to the risk of illness and/or drugging, Kernansquillecan athletes are to cease drinking tap water within the Olympic village. Reports suggest the water has been contaminated and we do not wish to take any risks. Mineral water is being flown straight from the pure sources of Mont Kate and will be distributed to your fridges, as well as all common areas. In case your supply runs out, please contact the lobby. Tap water is still perfectly fine for sanitary purposes.

Sixthly, the NOC repeats it call for the weightlifters responsible for causing damage at the other night's visit to the athletes bar to come forward. The NOC also states that should the situation not change, it will most certainly not ask the Olympic Committee to add additional weights on top of what athletes have asked for at their events, making the eventuality of a weightlifter from Kernansquillec winning a medal next to none...

Seventhly, we have received complaints for several delegations concerning certain Kernansquillecan athletes stealing flags and running away with them. While the NOC publically condemns such actions, we would like to simply ask the athletes in question to be slightly more discreet while stealing fans, especially given the heightened risk of received water bombs in their faces at the moment. We also hope said athletes will inform the NOC of their identities so we may advise them on which nations should be prioritised.

Finally, the NOC has attached an updated version of the medals' table so that you can see how things are shaping and how the differences between top and bottom are so close. We hope this will motivate you to go that little bit further, faster and higher to win those medals that will lift the entire delegation up to the top. As you will be able to see, Kernansquillec lie sixth at the moment but are just a gold off of third and a few golds off of the top spot. It's been a good start, let's keep it up!

Good luck for the upcoming events, the whole of Kernansquillec is behind you,

Kindest regards,

Isabella Pinkton
