Manchester defeated Marianopolis 4-1 in a best of 7 series.

So, PlacidBasket stumbles back into our lives with a somewhat anticlimactic season and Finals. Manchester Tigers got over on Marianopolis thanks to some dominating performances by swingman Kelly Douglas III and big Bradley Walker, who are each pushing the end of their primes but were able to team up for their best career seasons. Douglas and Walker were 5th and 6th in Win Shares this season, one of only two pairs of teammates (the other being Marianopolis's Alexandre Marchand and Damien Labonté) in the top ten.

Much of the season was functionally the Luka Kjaer show, as it often has been since his rise, but his Trevona side got pushed aside in an intra-Marianne Preliminary Final against Marianopolis. There is much speculation that Kjaer may be leaving Marianne to test the open market, so Trevona have a nervy offseason ahead. Wherever he ends up, that club will acquire an absolutely dominant force, already a 2x MVP, 6x All-League, and has improved for five consecutive seasons. He's essentially an unplayable swingman who has no true weakness.

Summerside Jets may have finished last, but some recent tanking and now having the enormous contract burden of JoJo Allen off the books has gotten them a young core that could be dangerous going forward. Do not sleep on them.

The 22nd IUBC Trophy
presented by Data West

For the twenty-second edition of the IUBC Trophy, 19 teams (the 18 league champions/highest-placed teams of the ranked associations and the Raynor City Monarchs, the IUBC Trophy champions) will enter the group stage. Of the remaining 35 entrants, 18 teams will enter the qualifying round and 17 teams will enter the playoff round.

Playoff Site Selection
The IUBC Committee has accepted the sole bid from Palacio de Reino de Hispinas in Mandrid, Hispinas to host the IUBC Trophy Playoffs.

After a remarkable first round in which all but two of the top seeds were defeated, the IUBC playoffs played out the rest of the way without much in the way of upsets, as the defending champion Raynor City Monarchs rallied after narrowly escaping the group stage on the third tiebreaker to triumph over their rivals. Thus, the Monarchs become the first team since the Trewich Urbanites of Civil Citizenry in the competition's infancy to successfully defend their crown.

Guidelines for Entry in IUBC XXIII

• Each nation is entitled to three entries, with their champion listed first. Please follow the format for submission in the OP.
• Raynor City Monarchs (VAL) automatically qualify for the group stages of the IUBC Trophy. If they qualify as the league champions of Valanora, the group stage spot for the league champions will be vacated.

Hosting the Playoffs

• Participating nations are entitled to bid for hosting the playoffs of the IUBC Trophy. Please follow the details in the OP. Further detail is strongly encouraged.
• As the host of the previous edition's playoffs, Hispinas will not be eligible to bid for the hosting of the playoffs.
• Bidding nations are reminded that their submitted bid will not only host the final four but the entire playoffs including the classification games.
• If there are no bids received, the host venue will be defaulted to Celestial Gardens in Canterlot, Equestria.

The deadline for entries for the twenty-third edition of the IUBC will be announced at a later date.

Matchday 6 had its biggest surprise when the BC Schoenwetter won 79–69 against Timesteam. The celebrations and dreams of the title were cut short and in the end the team only ended on the 4th place, missing even the IUBC XXIII. The pimped up team of Uran City and the surprisingly constant playing Scorpion City team got the spots behind champion Timesteam.

Located at the midway point between Fleuve Saint-Henri and the mouth of the River to the East Sea, the 'City of Eternal Lights' is a traveller's paradise as hundreds of museums and monuments form the city.
Right in heart of it is L'Arc-en-Ciel - the 21,580-seater is located on the Alexandre IV District of Quebec City, just 5 minutes walk away from Bibliotheque Nationale de Quebec on east and 10 minutes west of Parc D'Armistice, the largest urban park in the Downtown area. Located right next to the Colisee Royale, this is where CSKA Quebec, the winningest men's basketball and second-winningest women's basketball team in Quebecois history, plays its home matches.
Year in and out, it is filled to the brim, and the regular renovations and additions have continued to maintain it as a top-class venue for both domestic and international competitions. As it is expected for the LAEC to be full for every match, given the demand, Basketball Quebec is open to allocate at least 20% percent of the tickets to the participating teams' supporters.

Season 12

The REBL contingent at IUBC XXII's campaign can be concisely summarized as: everything was going perfectly until it suddenly wasn't. For the second consecutive year, all six REBL entrants reached the group stage of the competition, as the Warriors, Indigo, Stars, and Flames all successfully navigated the playoff and qualifying rounds with relatively little drama. Group play didn't go nearly as well as hoped for the league, and not quite as well as in the previous edition where five of the six REBL teams advanced to the knockouts; four of the contingent finished atop their groups, including undefeated campaigns by Everfree, Seaddle, and Crystopolis that set them up as the top three seeds in the playoffs. Of the pair eliminated in the group stage, Crystal Springs once again suffered the most agonizing exit, knocked out of the tournament in front of their own supporters on the final day against Montreal Koreana after the Stars had obliterated the Quebecois side 120-58 earlier in the campaign on the road.

Still, REBL fans were salivating over the seemingly-likely prospect of another all-REBL showdown in the IUBC Championship Game. After all, the Subsonics, Indigo, and Lancers had seemed nearly untouchable in the group stage, and would surely put on a clinic in championship pedigree for all the multiverse to see. Even the Cloudsdale Warriors had won their group, beating the favored three-time IUBC-winning Carloburgo Knights twice and sending them home early. This IUBC was the REBL's to lose...

...And then it all went wrong.

First, the Indigo lost a heartbreaker in overtime to Darmen's Chuckio Raiders (Who? Exactly.) But that was okay, because surely Seaddle and Crystopolis could be counted on to perform. Except they didn't. Nor did Cloudsdale, who fell against eventual runners-up Palais des Reines of Omerica. Four games, four losses, and no REBL teams in the quarterfinals for the first time since IUBC XII. Fans were quick to criticize the league for its teams' failures, in remarkable comparison to a decade ago, not only because expectations are now higher, but also because the REBL actually has a substantial enough fanbase to make those complaints heard.

The primary target of the supporters' ire: the REBL's semi-professional status. Already a point of contention among fans even before the disastrous IUBC playoff showing by the league's teams, the topic suddenly became the hot topic of the day not only in the Harmonic Union's basketball circles, but in all sports media across the three member states (a welcome distraction from the dismal World Cup qualifying performances of their national hoofball teams). After having promised at the end of last season to consider the professionalization of the league, the REBL Directors' Counicl was compelled to act: at the end of the upcoming season, a formal vote would be held on making the multiverse's best semi-professional sports league into just another professional one.

Fans' attention soon returned to sporting matters, however, particularly the coming REBL season that promised to be like none before it as another seismic shift was already underway: the introduction of a promotion-relegation system. A second tier league (creatively named "REBL II") would feed up to two new clubs to the established top flight at the end of each season, with two clubs from the REBL potentially dropping down. The last place team in the REBL would be automatically relegated, their place in the REBL the following season taken by the REBL II champions. Meanwhile, the second-worst REBL side would face the winners of a playoff between the next-four-best REBL II teams. The REBL would also add two clubs from the Basketball Association of the North and the Freeport Basketball League to bring its total number of teams to twenty: Emerald Gardens SC and the Silver Haven Smugglers, respectively.
