MC John Ferry, age 26 (Schotita) -> Baskita FC
CB Yeri Ibex, age 25 (Chromatika) -> Baskita FC
FW Joris Zwart, age 19 (Audioslavia) -> Baskita FC
LRMC Boleslav Gurkin, age 17 (Audioslavia) -> Hellinic Rouge
MC Destin Chaplin, age 27 (Eastfield Lodge) -> Hellinic Rouge
FW LaTimothy Bidaurreta, age 17 (Audioslavia) -> Hellinic Rouge
RB Rona Morgantrau, age 23 (Nephara) -> Stein-los Turkish
RB Juniper McCallum, age 27 (Schottia) -> Duke of the North
LRCB Samuel Apicella, age 22 (Audioslavia) -> Club Stein-los
LB Hyacinth Surman, age 28 (Nephara) -> Lunas FC
CB Erauso Iburrusteta, age 22 (Equestrian States) -> Santos Luega
FW Mirana Gotuai, age 28 (Turori) -> Sardin United

It was a rather quiet transfer window for the SuperLiga, with the squads seemingly mostly content with the rosters that they had already in place, or in CAP's instance, not able to sell off some of their surplus in order to bring in other players. However the Hurricane did not come out of the window empty handed, grabbing Schottia international Sloane Kirkland to shore up their backline that could sometimes be a problem last season. Surprisingly, it was none of the major clubs that found the best target to come to their side, as it was seldom talked about Sardin United, known mostly for having one of the best defenses in the league usually, who got the coup of the window in grabbing Turori international strike Mirana Gotuai to agree to come to East River Stadium. Does this transfer signal a shift in mentality for Sardin and perhaps even a bigger show of the pull that the SuperLiga is able to have as they have steadily built up the stature of the league over the past decade? With a solid striker, things could be afoot over in Sardin now.

The biggest movers and shakers in the relatively quiet window were Baskita and Hellinic, who both bolstered the current first team as well as grabbing a few development projects for the next few years. Given Baskita's recent history of being able to develop solid youth prospects into formidable players, the outlook for Joris Zwart has to be high, though one has to wonder if they will be able to satisfy both Ferry and Ibex' demand for playing time with the amount of talented young players looking to take those positions that they have filled. Bowbury looks set to be the number two in between the sticks for Baskita for now, but with the side taking part in the Globe Cup, there should be enough opportunities for the Nepharim keeper to state their case for the number one spot, though Patrik Horčička will be hard to displace out of the position with the form the keeper has been in the last couple of seasons, even getting some look for the Wanderers' senior side for the Qualifiers.

Looking at the league, you have to slightly favor the Hurricane to retain their title, simply because that is just the way that CAP has operated for the better part of the last two decades, with small hiccups here and there where the likes of Tani and Baskita have been able to take advantage. Tani however was not able to make any moves at all in the window and it is hard to see where they are going to improve without that sort of pressure put on their players to raise their games even more, though the temptation of silverware may simply be good enough for that sort of surge needed to keep pace with their rivals from west coast of Pargis. Baskita is the best hope for the capital, what with Fetherdron not looking like they will ever truly turn into a powerhouse club like so many had hoped and Galatica seemingly not in contention even for Globe Cup spots, though the change in the management for the Galaticos may spark a resurgence. However recent form seems to suggest that Galatica will continue to labour in mediocrity. The real question is if Turkish or Hellinic can work some magic and dislodge the top three from their perch or even mount a serious title challenge themselves.

{BOLDSPORT} Galacticos Index (69) Long Long List

Postby Bonesea » Sat Dec 09, 2017 3:22 pm

Image

Who will be the next Adnan Szalai, Tájö Çíânflöné, or Kris Campbell? Who is better now than Simeone used to be? Was it better in the old days?

Boldsport Magazine, proud purveyor of shoddy sports journalism since about last April, brings you the fourth edition of the global phenomenon of the Boldsports Sports Writers Awards for the greatest football players in the universe: The Galacticos Index.

Flush with money from the media rights to the last World Cup, and seemingly upgrading their business plan - if not their... modest... offices at Bod's House in Argon Lane - the Boldsport commercial arm recently stunned the world by jumping into bed with the bigwigs of the UICA to sponsor the Youth Cup for the next seven - SEVEN - cycles; a remarkable increase in the multiversal profile of the imprint. Whatever next? Well, no doubt there will be more exciting announcements along the way. Oh and look, here's one now:

To celebrate the link with the UICA Youth Cup, Boldsport is to present a new prize within the Galacticos awards - along with senior and young player awards, the sportswriters of the magazine will scour the academies and training grounds of the multiverse (or get their mates to when they go on holiday) to unearth the most promising young starlets of the world with the Galactico Junior Award. The award looks set to inflate the transfer market in young players to new and more preposterous heights, which is great news for sellers, great news for the parents and financial advisers of these young heroes, bad news for buyers and no pressure at all, nonono, for the kids who are labelled the next Buschak Dassuna, Mickie Pichowski, Torianne Heroux, Jane Vander Rox, Bálint Sebes or Freddy Adu. Err - who?

Deciding to maximise the drama of the awards - because optics - the Galacticos Index will begin with a private soirée for some of the most renowned sports journalists from around the multiverse, who will be invited to join us for the announcement of the 'long' list, which will occur in a fortnight Bonesea time [OOC - tomorrow] at the famous Grand Polarian hotel on Herring Island just north of the capital, scene of an enormous bun fight two cycles ago that led to a ban on visiting national delegations.

The announcement of the 'long list' will be followed by a the Boldsport Youth Awards in a month [OOC - Monday] in which we will celebrate the newly-crowned Junior Galactico, for the under-19 age group, as well as release the short list for the Young Player of the Multiverse, for the under-21 age group. The Boldsport Youth Awards will take place at the headquarters of the Fellowship of The Greasy Churn - that's the Bonesea FA to you and me - and will be attended by journalists, top coaches linked to the youth game and probably a few scouts and agents too, along with the Junior Galactico nominees and their proud parents who will be joyfully counting the future moulah they imagine their progeny will earn them.

Finally, the full event, a free-for-all with anyone and everyone invited, and perhaps a special guest announcement to come, will run in seven weeks time by the Bonesea Symmetrical Calendar [OOC - Tuesday]; the event will be a highly drawn-out and over-the-top showbiz do where we will announce the short list for the player of the multiverse, the team of the multiverse, the winner of the young player of the multiverse, and finally, the Galacticos Index Player of The Multiverse, by which time you probably won't even care.

Just to whet everyone's appetite here is another announcement - of the 80-player longlong list, having preposterously scouted over 433 players (434) across the wide multiverse to find the best performers of the last UICA cycle, and deciding against publishing that superlong list because there are bound to be terrible errors of judgement on them. Like last time when we announced we were scouting a player from Cassandra City in Cosumar who turned out to be the one-legged stadium caretaker that had recently been disciplined for running a poker club in the laundry room. The credibility of the awards was rightly questioned by a number of senior leagues as a result. This time we hope to eliminate the non-footballers by having watched them all, and remain quietly confident that this longlong list is a complete list of the eighty-ish best-ish players in the whole wide multiverse. You will note all three previous winners of the award have made the longlong list again.

Players listed in order of nationality.

The awards are for the player of the cycle which ended with the latest UICA and regional club competitions, and therefore runs prior to the just-finished transfer window. That said, if I have made any mistakes, please don't hesitate to contact me and I will make the corrections as soon as I can.

People have wondered what the tibias and fibulae is going on with the nomination system which makes little to no sense to some observers. Whilst I would never give away the whole process that the dedicated - and often drunk - voting writers go through to get to their decisions, it is fair to say that the logic of the shortlisting begins with some assumptions: that the best players in the world probably play for their national team, that they are probably starters at their club teams, and their club teams are probably pretty highly ranked in club football.

{BOLDSPORT} Galacticos Index (69) Long List

Postby Bonesea » Sun Dec 10, 2017 10:34 am

Image

Who will be the next Debbie Dallas, Tegan Nash, or Courtney Ferguson?

Boldsport Magazine welcomes a host of world class sports journalists and assorted hacks to the Royal Polarian Hotel on Herring Island, for the announcement of the long list of the Galacticos Index player of the multiverse awards. 434 scouted players were whittled down to 79 for the longlong list, and now, we skim off a healthy crop of 51 superstars who just aren't super enough for a final list of 28. Last cycle's greatest player Kris Campbell is still in the running but both Adnan Szalai and Tájö Çíânflöné, the first two winners of the prestigous - if controversial and oft disputed - award are on the wrong side of the cut this time around, and probably agree with the nay-sayers that it's all a bunch of meaningless claptrap from a bunch of inexperienced fly-be-night scrivenors who have barely left their desk, let alone gone out in the world and watched a game of football on a cold, wet Tuesday night in Torgos.

Well, you fine journalists here in the Timo suite of the Royal Polarian, under the watchful eye of the manager Olaf Bang and members of the Bonesea Constabulary, can debate the wheres and whyfors of the selection, and perhaps even write a post about it if you have any lead left in your pencils. Without further ado then, the long list for the Fourth Galacticos Index awards for the Boldsport Sports Writers Player of The Multiverse is as follows:

in order of player nationality

Imriel Townsend APX M Sabrefell Moths NPH

Cosumarites, Eurans and Vilitans dominate the list although there is quite a spread overall and includes the finest from as far afield as Apox, Drawkland, and Mercedini: when you look at the club list of course, as you might expect, it is invariably the present-day giants of the UICA that have a monopoly over the stars of today. The rise and rise of Real Azuris and the almost untouchable dominance of the two Euran giants Revolutionaries and Ulsa top a list of pure footballing royalty in club terms. And Port Sebastian.

Join us at Goat's Bluff on Threemilestone Island, the home of the Fellowship of The Greasy Churn - that's the Bonesea FA to you and me - in a fortnight's time [OOC: tomorrow] for the Boldsport Youth Awards in which we will give the prize for the best junior player coming through the ranks of our multiversal academies, and announce the shortlist for the Galacticos Young Player of the Multiverse.

For all the journalists in the room who are not on the Jeremy Jaffacake Thirteen Step Plan, the bar is now open.

Debate is welcomed, please address your complaints to: spambasket@boldsport.oi - or head on over to the International Domestic Soccer Discussion Thread for a friendly chat at the bar with the Boldsport hacks.

The 26th Campionato Esportivano di Campeones Champions
North Hall
Image Brenecia

North Hall lift their first CEdC trophy, following in the traditions of many Brenecian sides. This is also the first time an Ethanese club has entered the CEdC final or faced a Brenecian team in the final. Additionally, the Second Brazilian Empire made their first semifinal, losing to the eventual tournament winner.

Entries will now be accepted for the twenty-seventh edition of the Campionato Esportivano di Campeones.
  • Each association residing in the region of Esportiva or Neo Esportiva is allowed to submit two (2) teams for entry into the CEdC.
    Soltsteed wrote:
    • Traditional European-style leagues might submit their [regular-season champion and either] runners-up, a cup winner or the winners of a qualifying play-off (iirc, SJG used to use this last format).
    • Leagues that decide the championship by play-off might submit the [playoff winner and either their] losing finalists or regular season winner.
    • Apertura-Clausura leagues would naturally submit the winners of each section[, unless the same team won both sections, in which the football association reserves the right to send a second team on sporting merit using the criteria above]
    • (NOTE: The Damukuni Football League uses a special system for determining CEdC participants, but it is still considered qualification by sporting merit.).
As far as I am concerned, how each association decides qualification is their prerogative outside the obvious sporting merit clause.
  • All entries must be prefaced specifically with the abbreviation "CEdC".
  • The cutoff for submissions coincides with the posting of the UICA Champions' Cup finals and Super Cup.
  • Final site bids will be considered for this edition.
    • Final site bids must contain a stadium of at least 55,000 seats, a stadium name, and its location.
    • Optionally, you may add a short description of the stadium and any famous football-related happenings there.
    • The default site, if no bids are submitted, is Naruto Shinagawa Field, Atarashii-Damushuto International Stadium, Atarashii-Damushuto, United States of Damukuni.
  • Sponsor bids for the CEdC will be considered for this edition, with licensing rights over the 27th, 28th, and 29th editions of the CEdC. Companies from Damukuni are ineligible to bid.
Commerce Heights wrote:The following is required to submit a bid:
    • The name of the bidding company or product, preferably a single word or acronym.
    • The company or product’s logo/wordmark, as it would appear in the sponsorship logo. This logo/wordmark must be black on a transparent background, in SVG or PNG format, and as large as possible, but must be distinguishable at the size at which it will ultimately be used.
    • If the company has a storefront forum thread, a link to that thread.
    • Bids should be posted in this thread, clearly marked "CEdC Sponsor Bid."

{BOLDSPORT} Galacticos Index (69) Junior Award

Postby Bonesea » Mon Dec 11, 2017 3:57 pm

Image

Izzy Worthette, Boldsport Editor-in-Chief, says:

Who will be the next Will Grizzly, Temi Temi Cram or Cleto Mata*?

Boldsport Magazine welcomes a host of world class coaches and assorted club officials to the headquarters of the Fellowship of The Greasy Churn - that's the Bonesea FA to you and me - at Goat's Bluff on Threemilestone, the former World Cup Island from WC'78. We welcome you here today for a new initiative in the Galacticos Index.

To celebrate the link with the UICA Youth Cup, Boldsport presents a new prize - along with senior and young player awards, the sportswriters of the magazine have scoured the academies and training grounds of the multiverse (or got their mates to when they were on holiday) to unearth the most promising young starlets of the world with the Galactico Junior Award. The award looks set to inflate the transfer market in young players to new and ever more preposterous heights, which is great news for sellers, great news for the parents and financial advisers of these young heroes, bad news for buyers and no pressure at all, nonono, for the kids who are labelled the next Buschak Dassuna, Mickie Pichowski, Torianne Heroux, Jane Vander Rox, Bálint Sebes or Freddy Adu. Err - who?

Alright, alright, I know I did that joke on Saturday. It's a good one, what can I say? Anyone wants to bite on that name list, meet me in the IDSD after.

Without further ado, please allow us to present the final shortlist of fifteen young men, women and other anthropods who may, in time, become the greatest fifteen players in the multiverse, for whom the likes of Ulsa, 1830 Cathair, Handon United and Alpolamets Pakhelemarkaa will pay a queen's ransom.

For many of you here this will be the first time you have ever heard of this lot, but believe me, it won't be the last.

In alphabetical order:

Jack Avelione SCT 17 AML/C Marionville (SCT; on loan from Bastion in Eura)
Ádám Berecz PAS 18 RW Baskita FC (PAS)
Keeva Crowe SCT 18 ST Port Sebastian (SCT)
Erik Földesy PAS 16 RW CA Paulinthal (PAS)
Tania Hummingbird BSE 17 DM Athletic St. Leah (BSE)
Bentley Loken BJK 18 ML Torpedo Spitney (BSE)
Ezequiel Marchiondo FFD 18 RB Lammerton (SCT)
Chimera Moxham NPH 17 AM AFC Treason (NPH)
Bitto Kazuki KHI 15 CB Project Olimpo (KHI)
Monako Saroszi NPH 18 RM Morningstar (NPH)
Tawny Shone NPH 17 CM Sabrefell Moths (NPH)
Réka Szôllôssi PAS 17 ST Stein-los Turkish (PAS)
Alfred Tidesson COS 18 CB Real Azuris (COS)
Birgid Tidesson COS 16 AM Real Azuris (COS)
Edith Tidesson COS 17 GK Real Azuris (COS)

Ezra Carp, Superagent, says:

That's an awful lot of young talent right there, allegedly the fifteen best players in the multiverse you've never heard of. And the Tidesson family grab a healthy 20% of the shortlist for themselves; Mr & Mrs Tidesson must be counting imaginary money like it's falling off trees right now. And who can blame them? How much would each of these be worth on today's market? Well, I've been studying recent transfer activity, and the Gelderfolk at Lexington Victory parted with a cool five mill for Ventura Bay's 16-year old Cenian centre midfielder Avi Renning. Meanwhile Schottic Isaiah Vaught, 18, went to Whitehaven Triumph in Ceni for six. Now these boys are good, don't get me wrong - but where are they on this list? I fancy any of these wonderkids now to be worth 50% more than the market high, so don't expect less than nine million spondula for any one of these.

Izzy Worthette, Boldsport Editor-in-Chief, says:

Well there's Ezra, talking up the market again. Now, before we proceed to the prizegiving, it is my pleasure to first announce the shortlist for the Young Player of The Multiverse. This is for the under-21 category of the main prize, and regular attendees of the Galacticos over the years will know this prize has been entirely dominated by Audioslavs, with Roddy Fraser, Rodger Mariezkurrena and Javi Esqueda taking the first three awards. And Javi might just do it again... the shortlist for the Young Player of The Multiverse award is as follows:

In order of nationality:

Hakki Ojala ANG A 21 Real Azuris COS
Bryton Menheniot APX DMC 18 Cazadores Cathair AUD
Javi Esqueda AUD DRL 20 AC Izotz Zubia AUD
Bryger Tidesson COS A 19 Real Azuris COS
Rhys Griffiths EUR AM 20 Revolutionaries EUR
Jayden Fox EUR LB 19 Handon United SCT
Lüí Wçêíl FFD M 20 Mâ Âlâmëómë FFD
Louis Hordern SCT RB 20 Handon United SCT
Dilon Bànach SCT CM 20 Handon United SCT

And indeed Javi Esqueda will hope to take the title for a second season running, but he's got some stiff competition including a familiar name in there as the Tidesson family have yet more nominations to celebrate thanks to elder son Bryger. What a dynasty this lot are turning out to be. And there's more of them, so I'm told. Ezra, what do you make of this list?

Ezra Carp, Superagent, says:

Nine of the finest young footballers ever to grace the parks of the multiverse, I should say with no hint of overstatement, and when you think the young Bojik Artem Delacruz went to Gallian Telecom for an entirely preposterous twenty-five million groats - let's face it, he's a nice lad, handy for a twenty-year old, but he wouldn't be polishing the boots of these fellas - you have to think these will be fifty percent more again - you'll be looking at thirty-seven million and some change to sign any one of these, in my opinion. And before you shoot the messenger, I'm only telling you what the market dictates.

Izzy Worthette, Boldsport Editor-in-Chief, says:

Thank you Ezra, I knew I could rely on you for a bit of light-hearted fantasy. The prize for the young player of the multiverse will be awarded in three weeks [OOC: tomorrow] at the main Galactico Awards, so stay tuned for that.

But now, it is time to announce the winner of the Boldsport Galactico Junior Award for the finest youth player in the entirety of existence - no small claim - beginning with honourable mentions for the two best runners-up.

.
.
Alfred Tidesson (Real Azuris, Cosumar)

Kirtland Straw, Football commentator and mine of information, says:

The second-eldest of the five Tidesson siblings, Alfred looks the most likely to join Bryger in the first team of the #3 UICA club next season. Though a year younger, he's a bigger, stockier lad than Bryger and eventually found his true calling as an intimidator in central defense (despite stubbornly trying to match his brother in pace and skill for much of his youth) who has drawn on a fiercely competitive nature to battle well above his age groups.

.
.
Chimera Moxham (AFC Treason, Nephara)

Kirtland Straw, Football commentator and mine of information, says:

Tall, athletic, self-assured and two-footed, Moxham is set to be sent out on loan to Blau-Weiss Pallstadt to prove herself. Moxham's of the opinion that false modesty is the refuge of the mediocre - she knows she's good.

Ezra Carp, Superagent, says:

Well, look at these two - already set to become a brace of the finest footballers of their generation, if you want to sign these fine young juniors you're talking forty-five million clams - each - for two of the prodigies of our time. Good luck landing these though - I can't see Azuris or Treason parting with them for any money in the world - unless they've mistakenly put a release clause in their contracts (my PA is working on finding that out).

Izzy Worthette, Boldsport Editor-in-Chief, says:

And so to the first winner of the Boldsport Galactico Junior Award, please give a rousing hand to:

.
.
Réka Szôllôssi (Stein-los Turkish, Pasarga)

Kirtland Straw, Football commentator and mine of information, says:

A pacy striker with a calm demeanor that belies her age, affording her the patience needed to be a rotation playing for Turkish first team, Réka has impressed scouts from all over the world and you can practically see the Euran teams circling for her signature. Many predict the rise in a new generation of Pasargan power, and this young woman will undoubtedly be banging in the goals to achieve it. Watch out for her in World Cups 80, 81, and 82. At least.

Ezra Carp, Superagent, says:

Undoubtedly one of the pantheon of greats of the future - I'm talking Di Bradini, Belmore, Banda - maybe even the first three minutes of Val Kylx. That's what we are talking about here. So you can look at another twenty percent on the runners-up. You'll be forking out fifty-four million squid or more for this racehorse. And for my money, she'd be worth every penny. I'm off backstage right now to see if I can sign these fifteen thoroughbreds to my stable, wish me luck Izzy...

Izzy Worthette, Boldsport Editor-in-Chief, says:

Thank you to my guests Kirtland Straw and Ezra Carp with their interesting if probably unreliable insights into the world of future football. It only remains for me to congratulate the winner on an admirable rise to the top of the youth game, and to warn us all not to forget where we heard the name first. We will see you all back here in three weeks [OOC: tomorrow] for the presentation of the final awards for this cycle's Galacticos Index.

{BOLDSPORT} Galacticos Index (69) Short List

Postby Bonesea » Wed Dec 13, 2017 4:02 pm

Image

Izzy Worthette, Boldsport Editor-in-Chief, says:

Who will be the next John Spartan, Arturo Hudson-Blake or Magnus Svoboda?

Boldsport Magazine, proud purveyor of shoddy sports journalism since about last April, welcomes you to Goat's Bluff, the headquarters of the Fellowship of The Greasy Churn and the fourth cyclical presentation of the global phenomenon that is the Boldsport Sports Writers Awards for the greatest football players in the universe: The Galacticos Index.

And speaking of John Spartan, please welcome to the stage our special guest for the evening... it's only John Spartan!

(No cameras please)

John Spartan, Quite Good Footballer of Eura, says:

Thank you Izzy and the people of Boldsport Magazine for -

Izzy Worthette, Boldsport Editor-in-Chief, whispers:

{sorry John Spartan, could you say that in red please, that's part of our sponsorship package tonight}

John Spartan, Quite Good Footballer of Eura, says:

Thank you Izzy and the people of Boldsport Magazine for inviting me here tonight, it is my tremendous priviledge to be involved in this, um, prestigious event. And may I just say -

Izzy Worthette, Boldsport Editor-in-Chief, says:

Really, thank you John Spartan, for agreeing to come - you've definitely turned the classometer up a notch or two by your very presence in the room, and I'm delighted you'll be adding your considerable knowledge to our observations this evening, balancing the opinions of our regular guests Kirtland Straw and Ezra Carp with some actual facts and insider knowledge. But first some housekeeping. We will begin with presenting the short list for the Galacticos Index Boldsport Writer's Player of The Multiverse Award, comprising the seven finest footballers of the last season/year/cycle from around the eleven corners of the world(s); and this will be followed by what we are provisionally calling the John Spartan Team Of The Cycle - the best eleven players and a bunch of useful subs; we will then announce the winner of the Galacticos Young Player of the Cycle and finish of course with the big one, the Player of The Multiverse. It's a long night so let's get stuck straight in, to announce the shortlist for the main award. But first, a reminder of the long list, which we published six weeks ago:

in order of player nationality

Imriel Townsend APX M Sabrefell Moths NPH
Earl van den Brink AUD LCB Revolutionaries EUR
Gethin Quill BRE LB Revolutionaries EUR
JK Cottle BSE CB Handon United SCT
Andrew Arrowsword CEN A Real Azuris COS

Ilglerdiriel Lithvathar VAL M Raynor City United VAL
Cavuna Aquafek VIL F Turoki Tide VIL
Polaox Torerun VIL M Turoki Tide VIL
Jurzen Devmiko VIL M Cednia Beach AFC TUR

Ezra Carp, Superagent, says:

This would be the dream squad, wouldn't it? Just look at the quality here. There isn't a keeper in the shortlist this time though, so it would still need a bit of tweaking - Guayabaleni Abraham Terrazas (twice), Farfadillo Calegro Metz, Euro Jeffrey Douglas and Schotto Jeremy McNott have all made the long list in previous editions, but this year the keepers seem to have had a lean season, according to the panel. Now, I've been looking at the transfer market and I think you'd be paying top dollar for this bunch - around 25% above the high prices in the last window; the Taeshanis were flashing the cash again with Laketown Rangers - who? - spilling 45 million duckets for Ceni Quintrell Lidgely - I mean... - so by that measure, these folks will surely set you back a cool 56 million and a bit

Izzy Worthette, Boldsport Editor-in-Chief, says:

Whittling 434 players down to 79, slashing fifty one stars off to leave twenty-eight superstars, we now lose a further twenty-one players who would still surely grace any team in the UICA Champions Cup Knockout phase. But there can be only seven on a shortlist - approximately speaking - and our seven, chosen by the Boldsport Magazine staff writers, will be revealed shortly.

But first, let's move on to the fourth Boldsport Young Player of the Cycle, sponsored by NomNom world famous confectioners - because sometimes, sour sugar is good for you. With a number of young players competing right at the top of the sport already, this was a difficult and tightly-contested affair. First we should remind ourselves of the shortlist, which in due order is:

In order of nationality:

Hakki Ojala ANG A 21 Real Azuris COS
Bryton Menheniot APX DMC 18 Cazadores Cathair AUD
Javi Esqueda AUD DRL 20 AC Izotz Zubia AUD
Bryger Tidesson COS A 19 Real Azuris COS
Rhys Griffiths EUR AM 20 Revolutionaries EUR
Jayden Fox EUR LB 19 Handon United SCT
Lüí Wçêíl FFD M 20 Mâ Âlâmëómë FFD
Louis Hordern SCT RB 20 Handon United SCT
Dilon Bànach SCT CM 20 Handon United SCT

John Spartan, Quite Good Footballer of Eura, says:

Ah, there you go! Look at our fine lads about to take over the world...

Izzy Worthette, Boldsport Editor-in-Chief, says:

And the winner of a lifetimes’ supply of sugar toucans and chocolate toads is…

.
.Bryger Tidesson (COS)
Right Midfielder, Real Azuris

John Spartan, Quite Good Footballer of Eura, says:

Or not.

Kirtland Straw, Football commentator and mine of information, says:

Ever since he scored in the Champions' Cup at age 16 and started the Cygnus Cup Final at 17, people have been certain of Bryger's destined greatness. With his teenage years now behind him, Tidesson is now starting to fulfill that destiny. An everyday starter for the domestic champions last season, he put up 16 goals and 9 assists en route to HL Player Of The Year honors. Quite likely the first of many such awards. He has everything you want in a winger. He's fearless, creative, technically and physically gifted and puts in effort defensively (even if a tad thin still). The Tidesson train is taking off and , if it continues to accelerate at this rate, he might have be one of the world class superstars for the next decade.

Ezra Carp, Superagent, says:

I said you'd be looking at thirty-seven million honk for anyone on that young shortlist, but for this fella? Forget it - 25% again: Ulsa, Revolutionaries - if you're listening, (or anyone in Taeshan), get your extra wide cheque books out - this one has to be worth forty-six million scratch minimum.

Izzy Worthette, Boldsport Editor-in-Chief, says:

Moving quickly on before we get complaints from the Azuris about selling their team from under them, I would respectfully request the guests at the Esportivan Championships and Koana Islands tables to shut the fibula up a minute and let me get these blasted awards done without further interruption. Ahem.

Congratulations to Bryger Tidesson after a magnificent season, who breaks the stranglehold on this title held by Audioslavs for the last three seasons and joins the likes of Roddy Fraser and Javi Esqueda as 'legends of the future'.

Up next, the, err, John Spartan Team of The Cycle is as follows:

Image
Substitutes: Gethin Quill, Sandra Sybill, Oscar Coltrane, Mârtin Básá, Paul Doig, Romill Valgard and Kel Koromin.

Ezra Carp, Superagent, says:

For that Galactico XI? We’d be talking astronomical prices, Izzy. Every one of those players is going to fetch a ridiculous fee - if some club is going to spend big, I’d want to be in there with my stable of players, for sure. Anyway, I think prices for the band of eleven would go something like 25% on the top dollar price; you’re looking 70 million readies minimum for any of these eleven, I’m sure of it. That's before they make the shortlist - then watch the prices rise...

Izzy Worthette, Boldsport Editor-in-Chief, says:

Moving now to the main prize, I am delighted to announce the shortlist for the Boldsport Sports Writers Awards for the greatest football players in the universe: The Galacticos Index final seven is as follows:

in alphabetical order

Cavuna Aquafek VIL F Turoki Tide VIL
Andrew Arrowsword CEN A Real Azuris COS
JK Cottle BSE CB Handon United SCT
Ragnar Targaryen COS ST CA Paulinthal PAS
Bryger Tidesson COS A Real Azuris COS
Polaox Torerun VIL M Turoki Tide VIL
Kurt Wolff COS D Real Azuris COS

Kirtland Straw, Football commentator and mine of information, says:

The locals will be delighted that for the first time a Bonesman has made the shortlist with our very own Jonas Keylime Cottle, JK, national team captain and Handon United talisman, in amongst a fine short list of greatness. Cosumarites dominate the list this time around with three of the seven, but the Euran individual domination looks over with Kris Campbell forced to hand over the crown to a new champion. Andrew Arrowsword makes an historic return, having found his way onto the very first shortlist at the tender age of 18.

John Spartan, Quite Good Footballer of Eura, says:

But... no Eurans? What kind of award ceremony is this?

Izzy Worthette, Boldsport Editor-in-Chief, says:

Yes but we've got you babe - which makes it kind of priceless...

Ezra Carp, Superagent, says:

Difficult to pick a winner from this fine stable and it will be difficult to separate them from their club stables too - inflation for these seven on the Galacticos Shortlist means we’ll be talking silly money here - 25% on the astronomical prices we were talking about before. Don’t expect to land any of these diamonds for less than 87 million nicker.”

It was at this point someone flicked a switch on the main fuse box and plunged Goat's Bluff into darkness. In the ensuing chaos, someone pickpocketed John Spartan and found an empty wallet with a card that had Izzy Worthette's private mobile number on it. There were several complaints of groping and grabbing and - get this - facelicking in the dark, with strong suspicions that the issues were principally originating from the SuLSu tAblE, while the Clovellans had a traumatic flashback and hid under their table wailing piteously.

One might consider all this a bad thing, but one might also enjoy the dramatic pause close to the climax of the narrative... we will find out tomorrow, won't we?

{BOLDSPORT} Galacticos Index (69) Final Announcements

Postby Bonesea » Sat Dec 16, 2017 4:01 am

After an interminable period of darkness and chaos when the electrics were shut off at Goat's Bluff, the show is finally up and running again, but many of the attendees have already got the monorail back to the city, having decided the drama is more overdone than a beef metaphor sandwich at the Poet's BBQ Shack in Pandeaemonium.

Izzy Worthette, Boldsport Editor-in-Chief, says:

Who will be the next James Tarpy, Jahirii Tai’Seri or William Silva Jerônimo?

Boldsport Magazine, proud purveyor of shoddy sports journalism since about last April, apologises for the technical issues here at Goat's Bluff, the headquarters of the Fellowship of The Greasy Churn, which has so far dogged the fourth cyclical presentation of the global phenomenon that is the Boldsport Sports Writers Awards for the greatest football players in the universe: The Galacticos Index.

I'd like to thank our special guest John Spartan, who unfortunately had to leave following the unplanned delay due to other commitments, but I bumped into him in the bathrooms not long ago under the emergency lighting and he assured me he had a wonderful time and will be back next cycle for more of the same.

Well, I see there are only a few of you left in the room while John Hapley and the Tomurans, having got bored of waiting, are being ejected as we speak for interrupting the glacial flow of the presentation night. Hush hush Micah Strob, let me finish! Now, where was I? Ah yes, the ultimate prize - the Galacticos Index Boldsport Sports Writer's Award for the Player of The Multiverse. Four hundred and thirty four scouted players became seventy-nine, fifty-one were rejected to become twenty-eight, who were wittled down to a short list of seven.

These are probably the seven best club players in the last UICA cycle, bar none. According to us, anyway. Let's remind ourselves of these awesome churners (age approximately correct for last UICA season):

Cavuna Aquafek (VIL)
Forward, TUROKI TIDE; age 29. Globe Cup winner; former World Cup winner.

Andrew Arrowsword (CEN)
Striker, REAL AZURIS; age about 22-ish. Cygnus Cup winner.

JK Cottle (BSE)
Centreback, HANDON UNITED; age approx 30-36. Former Independents Cup & Cup of Harmony winner.

Ragnar Targaryen (COS)
Striker, CA PAULINTHAL; age 26. He's quite good you know.

Bryger Tidesson (COS)
Right Attacking Midfielder, REAL AZURIS; age 20. Cygnus Cup winner; Young Player of the Multiverse.

Polaox Torerun (VIL)
Midfield, TUROKI TIDE; age 24. Globe Cup winner; former World Cup winner.

Kurt Wolff (COS)
Defender REAL AZURIS; age 23. Cygnus Cup winner; former Champions Cup winner.

Ezra Carp, Superagent, says:

As I said before the power cut,

Difficult to pick a winner from this fine stable and it will be difficult to separate them from their club stables too - inflation for these seven on the Galacticos Shortlist means we’ll be talking silly money here - 25% on the astronomical prices we were talking about before. Don’t expect to land any of these diamonds for less than 87 million nicker.

I stand by that, despite someone trying to tap me up for our man JK Cottle during the dark interval - I think it was probably those Taeshani oil-barons, or possibly some oligarch from New Gelderland trying to steal a march on their rivals. Just can't trust 'em to do straight dealing the way us respectable yuman-traders churning agents do.

Izzy Worthette, Boldsport Editor-in-Chief, says:

And so we come to the final presentation of the evening - the Boldsport Galactico Player of the Cycle, sponsored by legendary dealers in precious objects, The Nomarque Mint of Taxhavn, who are providing the winner of this prestigious award with the equally presitgious prize of NothingTM - for the man, woman or person of indeterminate gender who has everything.

It has been years since the last issue of the Nomarque Mint. And now, at last, they present their finest creation to date: Orbis Vacuume, the latest in a legendary line of Product No.1’s by the world famous Mint. 134.373924 millilitres of purest hard vacuum encased in a 3mm Adamant shell of 65.4mm diameter and an impossible 103.36% purity; nowhere in the entire multiverse will you find such extraordinary refinement, polished to a near frictionless 0.1255mu.

And, naturally, it is beautiful beyond any useful scale of measurement.

But there can be only one Supreme Galactico or player of the cycle (mainly because we could only afford one Orbis Vacuume) and finally we are at the point where we can reveal them. But first, there must be honourable mentions for the close runners-up. In third place…

.
.
JK Cottle

Kirtland Straw, Football commentator and mine of information, says:

A fantastic result for the locals!

When veterans Ike Legge and Shilling Blue retired, JK – that would be Jonas Keylime, apparently – won the starting role and cemented his place as a core player in World Cup ‘77. Part of the powerhouse at the rebuilt Boldclub, JK earned his living in the water working as a diver his role is maintenance of the shallow-water foundations of the many sea turbine wind farms that power the national grid in Bonesea. But after the impressive Cup of Harmony final win over Schottia, he was snapped up by Handon United as one of the first Boney players to move abroad and become a full pro. After proving himself a quality squad player who emerged as one of the top international players in the ‘77 cycle, he progressed further to become the national captain, and despite threats to retire from the international game, has continued to command selection after finding a second youth abroad. At Handon United he is the captain of a top UICA side, proving himself a champion at club level.

Izzy Worthette, Boldsport Editor-in-Chief, says:

In second place, keeping club and country right at the peaks of world football…

.
.
Polaox Torerun

Ezra Carp, Superagent, says:

These two have put another 25% on their value, you're moving into the more money than sense bracket here. I doubt anyone can afford it, but if the Taeshanis want to up the price per barrel of their domestic product they might have enough to outlay around 109 million doubloons each for these marquee signings. But do they want to play in the desert? It is a desert in Taeshan, isn't it?

Kirtland Straw, Football commentator and mine of information, says:

Not sure about that Ezra, I think you're geologically stereotyping there a bit.

Anyway, Polaox Torerun was a quick study under Aquafek's tutalage and the two became nearly inseparable on and off the pitch. While Aquafek tends toward the more attacking play, Torerun is a bit more of a playmaker and also spends some time on the wing. Both Aquafek and Torerun were members of the World Cup 77 winning squad for Vilita as well as the recent triumph for the Turoki Tide in the UICA Super Cup. Torerun led all midfielders in scoring during World Cup 78 Qualifying. Polaox started thair career at Venom Youth Academy, joined Tropicorp FC and earned promotion to Vilitan Declasse. Transferred to Turoki Tide AFC and won Stellar Division Title during Season 49 and Season 52. Torerun would establish themselves as an international star winning the 77th World Cup with the Vilita National Team and then cemented their legacy at the Turoki Tide winning back to back championships during Vilitan League 54 and 55. On the heels of the V-League 55 title the midfield duo of Torerun and Aquafek would be the engine that drove the Turoki Tide to the 66th UICA Globe Cup title.

Izzy Worthette, Boldsport Editor-in-Chief, says:

Well thanks both for some interesting and questionable insights there, if only John Spartan was still here to give us some actual facts, {call me, John Spartan, call me}.

Finally, ladies, gentlemen, persons of indeterminate gender, gender-irrelevant children (shouldn't you be in bed by now?) and anthropomorphic creatures of the more distant corners of the multiverse - the winner of the fourth Boldsport Galactico Player of the Cycle is:

.
.
Ragnar Targaryen

Kirtland Straw, Football commentator and mine of information, says:

A fine fourth player of the multiverse, among the best I've ever had the joy to comment or commentate on.

Ragnar signed with CA Paulinthal at 17 as a top prospect out of Cosumar's most prestigious private youth residency academy. At 23, he finally broke through as a starter at CAP after six years of simmering development. And what a whirlwind year it was! Solidifying himself as part of a lethal attacking trio alongside Valladares international Abel Brücke, Ragnar helped propel CAP to the Copa de Campeones Final. This season, he was finally able to win the SuperLiga with Paulinthal, stepping up to lead the team with an insane 32 goals and Player Of The Year honors in Pasarga. The phenomenal season, combined with his chemistry with best friend Valgard, makes him a must-include for new Cosumar national manager Alexander Pearce. Targaryen is a proven commodity at the international level. He led the team in goals+assists back in World Cup 77 after all. He has the versatility, stellar first touch and passing ability.

Ezra Carp, Superagent, says:

From unknown wonderkid to superstar, the CAP striker is spearhead of one of the rising powers of UICA football, in the eyes of many observers. Expect Ragnar and CA Paulinthal to reach the very top of the game together, like football's very own symbiotic relationship. There is almost no point putting a price on this man's head, because I can't imagine a time when CAP are mad enough to sell him, or he's mad enough to leave. But if either party does want a get-out, call me, Ezra Carp, Superagent like it says on the auditorium projection, and I'll arrange best price for all - I'm talking ludicrous moolah here - another twenty five percent again on the more money than sense prices of the other two - 136 million bones. That's right. I said it.

Izzy Worthette, Boldsport Editor-in-Chief, says:

You did indeed Ezra, and those still awake are laughing all the way to the bar right now - that won't happen unless Sonoma Center Panthers get taken over by a royal autocrat's airline and used as a marketing vehicle where they accumulate galacticos to show off to their royal cousins and rivals running neighbouring autocratic spendthrift states splashing preposterous amounts of oil-money that's going to dry up inside the next twenty years and cause a major breakdown of society and the bankrupting of insane desert states with no sustainable infrastructure beyond a lot of fancy glass buildings and a cowed population of poverty-striken immigrant slaves. But I digress.

Congratulations Ragnar! A worthy winner.

We’re all off to paint the town a modest shade of green. Any complaints about the final decisions should be directed to spamfolder@boldsport.oi
.

For those who are interested, there was method to this madness. Taking top 20 UICA teams, top 10 national teams, loads of searches, marking down RP comments, looking at transfers, and coming to some form of RP bonus scoring led to the result you see here. Not very scientific but based on what I could see and read. The lesson for future galacticos: get a move to a top UICA club that does a lot of newswire posts… other nations RPing about your stars counts double… try to win the world cup if you can. The count begins again about now.

16 Thornwind Faeries 30 0 2 28 10 86 -76 2 Relegated

We all listened closely to Swan Song's swan song, having thrown away a stellar first half with one of the worst second-half implosions a top side has ever seen. 5-7-3 not only saw them slip out of first place, but nearly sent them out of contention for the Chrome League's first UICA entrants to an upstart Farmstead side (who couldn't quite pull things together enough to penetrate the top sides). Phantom Wings suffered a similar fate, going 7-6-2 in the second half--certainly less egregious, but neither team being able to definitely put themselves ahead of mid-table sides on numerous occasions comes to quite a surprise. There was also near total gridlock with top teams sharing draws freely, depriving SS and PW of chances to make up points dropped to lower sides. It makes me wonder if this is the beginning of the Chrome League moving towards proper parity, or if it's just a blip in the system and we'll return to a three-and-a-half horse race?

Oh, right, the Cavalry. I apologize--I tend to be dismissive of them because I'm a Wings fan, and you all know how we love grinding their nose in the number of second places we've left them with. How we managed to get fifteen more GD than them while drawing six more games? That's why we're the tops, baby. Real embarrassing that you lost second because you drew the Faeries on the last day, huh? You know, the team that up until that point had one measly point? Bringing down the great Cavalry to graciously give us the consolation prize of your coveted second place? Absolutely poetic. Oh, speaking of the Faeries--I'll just put a public apology to the neighborhood of Thornwind. You've been through a lot, finally getting a team to be Shiny and Chrome was such a sign that you were to be taken as seriously as the old money you're surrounded by. Then... ugh, this season. Pointless over halfway through the season is a fate no-one should ever face, less than a win's worth to end even less. What's even more unfortunate is that the team had some real talent on it, just a few more years in the Mithril would have honed them into a fine fighting force; but with such a disastrous season the team's entire infrastructure is likely to be torn up and replaced. It won't be quite square one, but... it'll be close enough to bother me. Meanwhile the Dryads just kinda sucked and Durkwood got the short end of the stick on some hard-fought games; I genuinely thought they'd be able to stay up but the Rangers and Cameo just managed to flop a little less. One last interesting note is the Seers--outscored their opponents by a monstrous twenty-four goals, tied for the most outside the Fab Four, and managed to finish in the bottom half. Just a horribly inconsistent squad; complete blowouts against decent teams that make them look like real contenders one day, grindy slogs with an air of eventual loss another. If they can rope their play in a bit that explosive offense could cause serious issues for the top teams.

Meanwhile in the Mithril, Rally have seemingly put together a real team for the first time in recent memory. They absolutely swept the competition aside, winning the Mithril by a cushy eight-point margin; all my bar mates seem to think they're going to explode into the upper half of the Chrome immediately, but I have my reservations. Below them are the perennial yo-yo of the Goats; they haven't changed anything up recently, so I can only assume they'll be going right back down. Tears of Rage snuck in with an above-average season thanks to the Dragons catching the draw flu that took SS and PW; you can bet Kilnmouth was on fire after the penultimate game, a crazy 4-4 game away at a subpar Jungle Hollow that officially relegated--well, kept them in the Mithril.

Oh yeah, and Thornwood completely had the bottom fall out. Same season as Thornwind, actually. Weird coincidence?

Season 1984

Sometimes the biggest lie is the lie that you tell yourself, such as the aspirations that Sardin United had, especially when they went out a signed a Turori international striker, hoping to lift themselves from midtable mediocrity and into UICA contention. That simply just was not the case, as Gotuai never seemed to settle into East River Stadium and the offense looked quite lost at times, as Sardin United found themselves on the unfortunate end of a surprising relegation. However they were far from the only side that saw their preseason ambitions put to the sword, as Hellenic Rouge's impressive campaign of last year was swept away into midtable with the unfortunate series of draws in the middle of season seeing their chances of retaining a spot in the UICA competitions be shot down during that particular stetch of the season. It is often said that those with great ambition have to be able to survive the winter months and the harsh conditions both mentally and physically that they produce, it seems this year that the Spartans ambition could not survive that standard of greatness.

The biggest surprise though is that Tani was in the title race at the end of the season and had to watch as two of their bitter rivals were dueling it out for the rights to call themselves the champions of Pasarga and take the two spots in the Champions' Cup from the grasp of the Stein-los giants. Yes, it was CAP and Baskita that were the two sides still in contention for the title when the last matchday came, with the Eagles sitting on seventy-four points and the Hurricane on seventy-two, with CAP playing host to Tani while Baskita was traveling out to Peynole to take on Stilinkeep. The Hurricane knew that it was a longshot to sweep the title from underneath Baskita's feet, but when the news came in that the Eagles were up two to nil before ten minutes had gone, CAP completely capitulated and Tani was more than welcoming of that and the brutal defeat that they then handed to the Hurricane, a six to one drubbing that will be leaving the Paulinthii quite blistering heading into the summer, as their worst loss not only came on the last matchday but to their heated rivals.

The Eagles were not content though with just the SuperLiga crown, as for the second year in a row, there was going to be a derby in the Copa de la Luna Final, with a capital city derby pitting the newly crowned SuperLiga champions against Fetherdron United, the often forgotten capital club living in Baskita's and Galatica's shadow. However for the second straight year, the league champions battered their derby foe in the Copa Final, as the Eagles put all questions of their squad strength to rest with the five to one thumping that they laid into Fetherdron, proving that you can win things with kids with the amount of u23 players that start for their squad. It was a year for the traditional powers to flex their muscles in all arenas, as both Turkish and Galatica, the latter by the virtue of Baskita's Copa victory, earn their spots into the UICA with top five finishes, though neither was ever truly in the hunt for the league crown, something that both clubs will undoubtedly be looking to remedy in the offseason, while Baskita will now have to look to escape CAP's fate of this season and being burdened in being in too many competitions at the end of the season, as the Eagles will not only be in the Champions' Cup but also the CdC and the Cygnus Cup.

Yuezhou Premier League, Season 3 - PREVIEW

Beian Athletic - Beian’s other team remains who they were a season ago, when they finished a solid fourth and secured their first taste of UICA football. Athletic won’t dazzle you with their attacking prowess, but they conceded the fewest goals of the YPL’s top six last season, and they can be very dangerous on the counterattack. With a very talented back four and solid attackers such as national-teamer Ren Delan, expect another solid season from Athletic - despite the departure of manager Qiu Hanying for Mercedini, his assistant Wu Enlai has promised more of the same. Manager: Wu Enlai (45), Formation: 4-3-3, Star Player: Ren Delan (ST, 30), Last Season: Fourth, Predicted Finish: Third

Beian City - Han Ruoyang, Lin Wangming, Xie Xueyi, Guo Zexi, Li Weifeng - City have an incredible five Red Dragons on their team. And with Llamanean journeyman and excellent playmaker Jayson Herrera making it six, the capital team have to be favorites for the title. Wen Xilie has won three championships in six seasons with this team, and with recent additions Lin and Xie fully integrated into the squad and star prospect Gu Zhalei coming off the bench, City could steamroll. Manager: Wen Xilie (55), Star Player: Han Ruoyang (CB, 31), Last Season: Second, Predicted Finish: First

Beian Rovers - Beian’s other other team were universally predicted to be relegated last season because of their virtually nonexistent defense. And, indeed, Rovers conceded sixty-six goals in twenty-six matches, which is ridiculously bad. But they scored forty-eight in those same matches, and while the end result wasn’t exactly a solid team, a strong finish propelled them to the heady heights of eighth place - ten points clear of relegation. This season, despite it being an obvious weakness, manager Zheng Jian has decided to ignore upgrading the defense in favor of...signing another striker, Revolutionaries’ Jiawei An. We’ll see how it goes. Manager: Zheng Jian (47), Formation: 4-4-2, Star Player: Wei Jiabin (CM, 25), Last Season: Eighth, Predicted Finish: Twelfth

Beiyun Stars - Despite the departures of Wu Zhen, Lin Wangming, and now star center-back Hu Zheng, manager Guo Xilai has once again managed to construct a side that should be able to comfortably stay up. With the stars gone, Guo has gone back to the defensive style that characterized Stars’ early years in the YPL - and it brought them a decent seventh-place finish last season. But Hu’s departure will hurt them, and except for teenage defender Lin Guolai, there isn’t much hope of finding a replacement. Manager: Guo Xilai (46), Formation: 4-3-3, Star Player: Zhang Xiaohu (CM, 32), Last Season: Seventh, Predicted Finish: Tenth

Dynamo Dalian - Young managing talent Wang Wen managed to do what nobody had done before - take Dalian to the Premier League in his first try. But last season wasn't as easy as Wang expected, with Dynamo staying up on goal difference thanks to an offense that scored eight goals over the entire season. The surprise signing of Xihaishi striker Wu Daoguan should help, but the stars of this team are still concentrated in the defense - home of Red Dragon Ma Jianke. Dynamo should drastically improve - and if they can’t, they could be going back down. Manager: Wang Wen (35), Formation: 4-3-3, Star Player: Ma Jianke (LB, 27), Last Season: Twelfth, Predicted Finish: Ninth

FC Shanbei - An utter disaster for Shanbei as injuries to Gu Yang and Hong Guilin saw Lin Jiawei’s men slip to eleventh and only stay up on goal difference. Gu Yang is back, but national team starting midfielder Hong has left for Jiangdong - leaving the team much worse on both sides of the field. Xihaishi midfielder Ge Nanwei should be a solid replacement, but if he doesn’t pan out, it’ll be hard times ahead for a Shanbei team that has seriously wasted its potential. Manager: Lin Jiawei (47), Formation: 4-4-2, Star Player: Gu Yang (RW, 29), Last Season: Eleventh, Predicted Finish: Tenth

Mükiazhou Athletic - This could be Mükiazhou’s golden age, as Jiawei Sangu led the Sangauese club to an all-time-best third place last season. And neither Jiawei nor Athletic show any signs of slowing down. The star striker and false-nine Wu Zhen formed a dominant partnership last season, but the additions of defender Zhaxi Nanlei and goalkeeper Ren Jiang will help bolster the back line as well. Athletic aren’t a midtable team anymore - Jiawei and company are legitimate title contenders. Manager: Wan Xifeng (54), Formation: 4-5-1, Star Player: Jiawei Sangu (ST, 33), Last Season: Third, Predicted Finish: Fourth

Nangang Royals - Fifth place for most other teams would be a solid finish, but for Royals fans, their fifth-place finish last season was a horrific disappointment. Goalkeeper Wei Haidong and midfielder Zhang Zhenya remained two of the best players in the league, but Kang Guilin just didn’t have enough around them to do much of note. The outspoken tactical mastermind remains at odds with the board, and with his contract running out this season and Zhang injured for the first two months of the season, this could be the final year of the Kang era at Nangang. Manager: Kang Guilin (51), Formation: 4-2-3-1, Star Player: Zhang Zhenya (CM, 30), Last Season: Fifth, Predicted Finish: Sixth

Olympic Nangang - Everyone expected Olympic to overachieve last season - but nobody expected them to win the title. Still, after breakout seasons from Quan Zedong and young striker Fu Wei, that’s exactly what they did, and the defending champs will be legitimate contenders again this season. Young manager Chen Lei was the best in the league last season, and his beautiful, free-flowing style of football can only benefit from the addition of midfielder Zhao Lianbang. Expect another excellent season. Manager: Chen Lei (47), Formation: 4-3-1-2, Star Player: Quan Zedong (CAM, 26), Last Season: First, Predicted Finish: Second

SC Jiangdong - Jiangdong were underwhelming last season, finishing tenth of fourteen teams and never really challenging the top six like Zhang Pingan thought they would. Still, things are looking up for SCJ, who continue to build towards a return to their glory days. The arrival of star midfielder Hong Guilin, as well as the return from injury of #10 Huang Shenan, the continued excellence of defender Jin Guiyu, the rise of teenage striker Wei Gaolin, and an attractive teamwork-based style of play, should see Jiangdong do reasonably well this season. Manager: Zhang Pingan (44), Formation: 3-5-2, Star Player: Jin Guiyu (CB, 26), Last Season: Tenth, Predicted Finish: Seventh

WNS Nangang - Nangang’s third team secured a first season in the top flight last year - although their solid second-tier campaign was slightly overshadowed by Xi’hai’s record-setting championship. WNS fans will be happy with the season no matter what happens - but WNS are distinctly lacking in both quality and money, and it’s difficult to see how Zhang Houfan keeps this team up. Manager: Zhang Houfan (55), Formation: 3-4-3, Star Player: Anthony Kuepper (ST, 34), Last Season: Second (SilverLeague), Predicted Finish: Fourteenth

Xi'hai Warriors - Xi’hai were angry at their relegation, and went into the SilverLeague looking to go back up as soon as possible. That’s exactly what they did, scoring an improbable eighty-nine goals in twenty-eight matches and winning the league by almost thirty points. Manager Chen Qiang will be looking to keep his team up this season, and what is one of the best attacks in the league should be able to do so comfortably. Manager: Chen Qiang (57), Formation: 4-2-3-1, Star Player: Yu Xiuren (AM, 27), Last Season: First (SilverLeague), Predicted Finish: Eleventh

Xinhai FC - Xinhai could easily be removed from the YPL without anyone noticing due to a mixture of the city’s total irrelevance, manager Li Wei’s ultra-defensive style of managing (the team scored just fifteen goals last season), and a lack of star power outside of quality center-back Tan Ming. They’ll probably score even less, concede even less, and finish in lower-midtable for the hundredth season in a row - although it’s worth noting that this iteration of Xinhai is even weaker than previous ones. Manager: Li Wei (52), Formation: 4-4-2, Star Player: Tan Ming (CB, 29), Last Season: Ninth, Predicted Finish: Thirteenth

Yincheng Capitals - Alex Ibragimov is coming! The enigmatic Llamanean will seek to fill the massive hole left in this squad by the departure of star striker Fu Xi a season ago. The lack of goals definitely hurt them last season, but the hope is that an improvement in the attack and a regression to the mean in their oft-injured defense will yield better results. After finishing a disappointing sixth last season, Capitals will be hungry for more. If things go their way, they’ll definitely get it. Manager: Ma Yong (49), Formation: 4-3-3, Star Player: Wu Zhen (GK, 22), Last Season: Sixth, Predicted Finish: Fifth

Last Season Finish:5th
Team Info It was not the greatest season in team history as they went from champions to barely qualifying for an international tournament. While in the end they were able to do so they also lost a lot in their attempts. With a dwindling squad it seems the side may very much be pushing for some new talent in their youth system and in a small rebuild. Not a long process like some former champions may be in, but it would not be a surprise for this side not to be a top team for a few years.

Offseason Moves:None
Last Season Finish:1st Erste Liga
Team Info A return to the top flight for a team which has a storied history in the Premier League. While never really a threat to win a trophy in their time, they did have a lot of international experience in their day. That day is long behind them, but an impressive championship in the second division sees them return to the top of the league. While not many expect them to be a force, it would not be surprising if they did not at least stay topside for a year or two.

Other Accolades: Globe Cup 18 Runners Up, Fadron Pizza Cup Winners 4, 14, Benevolence Bowl Winners 1
Last Season Finish:16th
Team Info The Atlantea giants have continued to be a side whom many almost forget at this point was ever league champions, let alone 10 times straight, or 15 times in total. Not exactly a team full of names with two former national teamers and one current bench player they are far from the side they once were. With not a lot to be proud of, it seems yet again that the side will continue to be just a middle of the table side moving forward.

Championships:20, 25, 27, 28, 29
Other Accolades: Fadron Pizza Cup Winners 1, 20, Youth Cup 6 Winners
Last Season Finish:4th
Team Info A lot of teams around the world had their eyes on young midfielder Kalvin Talbot but the eventual winner of that sweepstakes was a side also from the south of Taeshan. An island a way, but not too much of a different for the midfielder, it seems that perhaps with their new attacking threat the Phoenix may continue to force the effort at the top half of the table.

Championships:17, 22, 23, 32, 51
Other Accolades: Fadron Pizza Cup Winners 17
Last Season Finish:12th
Team Info While having won the Premier League more recently than their city rivals, Phoenix, Algaer continues to be a lower level side then them in the table currently. A rather impressive lightning strike at the end of a season almost 10 years ago has failed to ignite the faith in the team since then. While many hoped it would be the start of another dynasty, it has done little more than just annoy their rivals as they are once again tied in total titles.

Offseason Moves: Bought Centerbacks Edison Trueblood and Jamie Fasnacht from Mt Ceabring Thunder. Promoted youth squad goalkeeper Elle Carleton and Vincent Vogue.

Other Accolades:

Team Info While Blacklake had to watch one of their bitter rivals Mierton lift their first title, Blacklake did not sit idly by. With a big move they added the two young national team center backs to an already impressive backline to push the team to the defensive forefront of a nation with teams that are generally known for being rather impressive defensively. With that they also promoted youth squad starlet Vincent Vogue who may be another young future star.

ReservesSummit, Wright, Irving, Jeffrey, Kline
Sponsor:TMI Lighting
Nickname(s):Crocs, The Ancients
Offseason Moves: Promoted youth midfielder Adrian Irving. Bought Center Back Emmit Grey from Celtic Rangers F.C. Bought Left Back Bill Baker from Mt Ceabring Thunder.
Last Season Finish:20th
Team Info Capetown has settled into their usual bottom quarter position in the Premier League after their most recent return had seen them push for a top half position in multiple seasons. With Goalkeeper their most consistent position and not a lot of actual attacking talent more often than not they tend to be only held in games by the abilities of the back four, and not by the attacking ability of anyone in their forward crew.

Starters:Troubador, Cortez, Pryce, Stevenson, Bentley, Gomez**, Montague*, Figeuroa, Stadler, Connoly, Slater
Reserves:Calvin, Cartwright, Jacobs, Prince, Jiminez
Sponsor:Taeshan Air
Nickname(s):Flight, Flyers
Offseason Moves: Bought Center Back Karl Pryce and Left Midfielder Mark Connoly from Celtic Rangers F.C. Bought Center Midfielder Ian Stadler from Mt Ceabring Thunder.
Championships:
Other Accolades: Fadron Pizza Cup Winners 19, Youth Cup 1 Winners
Last Season Finish:7th
Team Info It wasn’t the greatest season for Fadron as they also joined a crew of also rans watching a longtime rival get their first title as the Manatees won their first championship. The Flight are still waiting on their first trophy and for the most part their team does not give many the thought that they will get that championship. That said with young talent like Karl Pryce joining the side it is rather possible.

Reserves Swann, Black, Grant, Cartwright, Quan
Sponsor:Tae-Mart
Nickname(s):Spurs, Knights
Offseason Moves: Promoted youth squad defender Jake Black. Named Brie Sunshine Captain.
Other Accolades:
Last Season Finish:21st
Team Info Knightspurs continues to have a squad that for the most part is rather lackluster. They do have a rather bright spot in midfielder Geoffrey Klingenberg who if rumors are right is moving to the A national team in the near future. That said if rumors are right from the national team camp left back Seth Green also may be looked at as a new fullback for the national team. Besides that the squad is rather lackluster as a whole.

Other Accolades: Fadron Pizza Cup 6, 10, 14, 17, 27, Benevolence Bowl 17
Last Season Finish:2nd
Team Info When you make the moves to bring in Miles Snavely and Janson Jewsbury you expect results to come. And they did as the five time champions came second in the league and returned to international play. While the result was not exactly what the side expected, it really seems to be a sign of things to come. With such attacking talent many expect the Laketown side to return to the top with a big league win in the upcoming season.

Nickname(s):Monstas, Gangstas
Offseason Moves: Promoted youth squad defenders Eleven Peters, Carson Jones, and Michael Smyth.
Championships:16
Other Accolades:
Last Season Finish:22nd
Team Info Perhaps the biggest thing to take from Los Riosa’s offseason is that an alarming lack of funds has seen them replace most of their back four with players younger than 16 let alone, having the youngest backline in the league moving forward. They promoted most of their youth squad defense and didn’t even make a move to put in any bids for actual tested defensive players.

Nickname(s):Manatees
Offseason Moves: Bought Center Forward Andie Alvarez from Mt Ceabring Thunder.
Championships: 59
Other Accolades: Fadron Pizza Cup Winners 23 and 24
Last Season Finish:1st
Team Info Mierton managed to do things in the last season that hardly anyone would have expected from this mostly unheralded side from eastern Taeshan. With their first ever league championship they now look forward to probably not keeping it up, with Laketown seemingly unstoppable. With the loss of three important players to their success, and not much in replacement it seems likely that Mierton may struggle in the upcoming season.

Nickname(s):The Owls
Offseason Moves:
Championships:37, 38
Other Accolades: Fadron Pizza Cup Winners 12, 16, Benevolence Bowl Winners 2
Last Season Finish:15th
Team Info A lot of respect is due for the side from Moresville who on their return to the Premier League managed to do rather well. With some young talent on the bench the side really pushed for the middle of the table, and while ultimately they managed to finish just to the lower half of the table they honestly have managed to put together an impressive team that could stay in the top flight for a few years to come.

Championships:39
Other Accolades: Fadron Pizza Cup Winners 15, 22, 23 , Benevolence Bowl Winners 3, 4, 14, 18
Last Season Finish:14th
Team Info The Falcons have remained rather middle of the pack for many years. While it seemed for a bit that they could climb back up the table nothing has made any of their fans more than in the belief that they could do more than be just an also ran for the upcoming seasons.

Offseason Moves: Bought Right Wing Jacob Carson from Mt Ceabring Thunder.
Last Season Finish:18th
Team Info The slow drop to the lower half of the table for the Nordiques has really pushed the side from seemingly ready to compete with the big boys, to seemingly very close to not even staying in the premier league. With a squad that does not really give any fans any hope for moving forward, and honestly it would make more sense for them to get relegated than win the league.

Last Season Finish:13th
Team Info Real Atlantea has fallen from grace in the last decade or so. While for the most part they have a lot of strong players on their side and they continue to bring in strong players from the roster on their youth sides they don’t really have a lot of hope moving forward for the side and they don’t seem to even be the best side in their home city.

Nickname(s):Chihuahuas
Offseason Moves: Bought Right Forward Evan Smith from Celtic Rangers F.C.
Championships:18, 19
Other Accolades:
Last Season Finish:19th
Team Info Real Chinchinhua has managed to drop like a rock down the table in the last season but it seems unlikely that that is an actually prevalent part of their side moving forward. With Enrique Fuegahita still continuing to pull the strings and a strong forward in Horatio Galludet pushing the ball into the back of the net the side seems likely to be a part of the team moving forward.

Offseason Moves: Bought Right Back Coryn Baker from Celtic Rangers F.C.
Championships:
Other Accolades: Fadron Pizza Cup Winners 25, Youth Cup 2 Winners
Last Season Finish:10th
Team Info The success of the team in recent years has really been shown after a strong showing for years in the youth league. The side has a strong young defender in Jess Gomez and a core around the middle of the field that is a big part of what makes it a competitive side in the league.

Other Accolades: Youth Cup 5 , 8, 9 Champs, Benevolence Bowl 19, 20, 21, Fadron Pizza Cup 25 Champions
Last Season Finish:3rd
Team Info It was a second season in a row for Taeshan City just off the pace of a championship. With the team once again rather close to a title, it seems that Taeshan City continues to be one of the strongest sides in Taeshan. While Laketown is definitely favorites to take the title in the upcoming season, all eyes should be on Taeshan City as the main threats for their title hopes.

Tintown Terrapins

Offseason Moves: Promoted youth squad members Alex Oustin and Evander Martin. Bought Left Back Everett Irwin from Celtic Rangers F.C.
Championships:30
Other Accolades: Fadron Pizza Cup Winners 26
Last Season Finish:6th
Team Info Tintown honestly had perhaps the most impressive season of any side in the Premier League with a sixth place finish for the rather unfancied side in recent seasons. With one of the brightest midfields in the league with Randall Abl Bakr in control of the midfield beside another rather impressive young midfielder in Wallace Kepler the future is bright for Tintown if they can manage to keep both of them. While that seems rather unlikely, if they can things may be headed towards a second title for the Terrapins.

Team Info A return to the top division for Williams Isle has many excited for this team. While they are likely to remain a huge underdog in the campaign many think they are strong enough to have another stint in the top division. The nicest thing for them is young youth midfielder Jonah Orville is a strong player, and could be worth a lot for the team moving forward.

Sponsor:Winehold Crematorium
Nickname(s):Marauders
Offseason Moves:
Championships:14
Other Accolades:
Last Season Finish:11th
Team Info X Island had a top half finish in the last season and with the strongest defender perhaps remaining in the league in Alex Turinquette you can understand why. With Esteban Foh soon likely to want an international move, sitting behind Xzavier Slater, this could be an interesting time for the side. Do they sell such a worthy asset moving forward, or do they look to appease him and actually use him.

Yaton FC

Offseason Moves: Bought Center Midfielder Adam Kiln from Celtic Rangers F.C. Bought Left Midfielder Geoff Cooper and Right Midfielder Matt Jason from Mt Ceabring Thunder.
Championships:2
Other Accolades: Youth Cup 3, 4, 7 Winners
Last Season Finish:8th
Team Info Yaton continues to impress behind a youth squad that has 3 titles. It seems that impressive group of youngsters they have managed to move their way up the table to hopefully compete for a championship. While it has been over half a century since the side has won their lone championship and on the whole it has been a long time since their fans have had much, if anything to cheer about.

Yaton United

Offseason Moves:
Last Season Finish:17th
Team Info Yaton United has not had the recent success of their opponents on the opposite side of the city. While they have some strong young players in Desmond Cavanaugh and Theodore Elliot, for the most part there is very little to actually be excited about from this side from Yaton. They continue to impress every year they fail to get relegated from the Premier League.

Introducing The Mattijanan PrvaLiga

After a number of seasons in relative obscurity, the Mattijanan FA have finally decided to present their premier national league to an international audience. Alongside the new international exposure, the FA are looking to attract players from abroad. The top Mattijanan clubs are all looking to fill places in their starting lineup with talent from foreign shores.

The PrvaLiga was formed 15 years ago as a professional football league, replacing the largely amateur Division 1 that had preceded it. With increased revenue, the standard of football increased rapidly and the league is one of the most watched in the country, closing the gap to the nation's most popular sport Hockey (on grass-like products, not ice).

In the tournament's 15 year history, there have been 6 different winners. Dinamo Petrovijanka are the most decorated side with 5 titles, closely followed by Burges with 4.

Winners:
Dinamo Petrovijanka (5)
FK Burges (4)
FK Petrovijanka (2)
FK Revinka (2)
Rapid Petrovijanka (1)
FK Puljanka (1)

Each side has their own unique history and style, some of which is mentioned below. Nicknames pre-date the tournament and are normally given over time by fans of the club or even their rivals.
Colours in Mattijana are very important and feature in a variety of places. Each of the country's 8 regions has its own colours which are found on the coat of arms, administration buildings and the region's school uniform. These regional colours are often reflected in the area's football teams, with some exceptions where there are multiple good teams in the same area.

Despite Hockey still being on top for popularity in the country, football is a sport on the rise after their improved performance in World Cup Qualifying and excitement for the upcoming Cup of Harmony.

Every team in the league is looking for additions in some capacity. Those at the sharp end will be looking for a star player to bolster their ranks and challenge for the title, those at the bottom will be looking for younger and less proven players who they will hope can write history of their own.
Scouting reports are available for each club, stating the positions that clubs are looking to fill at their clubs, as is information about the manager and captains of the teams. Existing managers and captains are currently not available for transfer. Mattijanan internationals are also listed and are available for transfer to a foreign league unless they are their club captain.

If you are interested in either buying or selling from a Mattijanan club, please contact me by telegram saying who you are willing to buy/sell. If selling, it is not compulsory to give a club that you want to sell to, but please give an estimated worth for your player.
Mattijanan sports teams and leagues are played in by male and female players, so any kind of being is suitable for the league.

In addition to players, there are a number of vacant manager's posts. These are listed in the scouting reports and team info, as well as the type of style desired by the managerless club. If you have a manager who you believe would fit the role, please contact me by telegram.

Here are the sides competing this season:

Dinamo Petrovijanka:

Home Stadium: Stadijo Dinamov, Petrovijanka
Location: Northern Petrovijanka
Nickname: The Dinamos
Colours: Green
Last Season: Champions
Predicted finish: 2nd

Dinamo Petrovijanka have been at the top of the tables for a little while now. The club are the oldest in the top flight and have been at the sharp end of proceedings for most of their long and illustrious history.
That was true of last season as well, the Petrovijankans sealing another league title having been thwarted by FK Burges and city rivals FK Petrovijanka in the season before. Manager Ameli Kurnic will be optimistic of continuing her success with the team, but in an increasingly competitive league, there are no guarantees.

Tactically, Kurnic prefers an intense style of play, with attackers pressing high up the pitch and linking together quick passes when in possession. When successful it is a joy to watch, but requires ultimate sharpness from the players.

As Petrovijanka's oldest club, Dinamo play in the region of Petrovijanka's traditional colours. However, as the green and yellow of Mattijana's national team is remarkably similar, the team have switched to a predominantly green strip in recent times, with the yellow making an appearance only in the away kit.

Scouting: Dinamo are looking to strengthen their defence with the addition of a centre back and goalkeeper. The midfield is strong, but Kurnic is reportedly interested in a new striker to up the number of chances taken.

Manager: Ameli Kurnic
Captain: Jago Adrianov (CM)
Mattijanan Internationals:
Marko Hojbjerg (CM), Jago Adrianov (CM), Sophia Velezia (LM/LW)

FK Burges

Home Stadium: Stadijo Nasinal, Burges
Location: Southern Burges
Nickname: The wolves
Colours: Blue and Green
Last Season: Runners Up
Predicted Finish: 3rd

Burges won the league two seasons ago, but could only manage 2nd last season as Dinamo Petrovijanka made a stunning comeback. The team are a more defensive outfit, containing a few familiar faces from the Mattijanan national side and employing a more counter-attacking style. A former team of national team manager Dusan Vukoja, Burges have remained solid since his departure and will aim to be in another fight for the title. Andreas Weiss, Mattijana's top scorer in World Cup 79 qualifying will once more lead the line.

The club have dominated football in the north of Mattijana in recent times, but now face fresh competition from FK Snezn for those bragging rights. Despite that, Burges' ambitions have turned to the national title in the last decade. Increased investment and a more defined style of play have brought them back to the top.

The team play in blue and green, the colours of Mattijana's second city and of the centre-north region. They are residents of the country's largest ground and regularly hold games in front of a 90,000 capacity crowd at the Stadijo Nasinal, which is also used for rugby, cricket and hockey games.

Scouting: Burges already have a solid defence, but are looking for a good-quality winger to fit into their counter-attacking style. A central midfielder is also in the board's sights.
Manager: Jelena Nuramanic has taken charge since Dusan Vukoja departed, but a more permanent manager is being sought after.
Captain: Katija Burnisevic (CD)
Mattijanan Internationals:
Helena Neumann (LB), Katija Burnisevic (CB), Andreas Weiss (CF)

FK Revinka:

Home Stadium: Stadijo Katarina Zafarova, Revinka
Location: Central Revinka
Nickname: The sunbathers
Colours: Red and Orange
Last Season: 3rd
Predicted Finish: 1st

Revinka had a brilliant season last time out, securing their highest league finish in 14 years after hovering around the mid-top 10 for a number of years. The performance, and the attacking brand of football on show, was nearly enough to lose the southerners their manager, but Dusan Vukoja was preferred and Max Juremchuk was left free to remain with Revinka, giving them increased stability for the coming season.
Despite Vukoja's appointment, Juremchuk still has a lot of respect. The result was an unexpected one at the start of the season and the manner of play caught the eye of many in the country. A high-pressure attacking game led to a glut of chances being created and largely taken, whilst a solid defence kept things reasonably tight at the back.
Revinka have the highest number of Mattijanan internationals in their ranks of all the PrvaLiga teams. Edvard Crajasovic and Lucija Handanovic impressed at the back, whilst Jessika Struna is a constant threat down the right flank for club and country. Young left-back Lara Ljunevic also performed well in her first major season.

FK Revinka are based just outside the Revinkan old town and have the only indoor stadium in the league. The Stadijo Katarina Zafarova is shared with Revinka hockey club and due to the region's frequent thumderstorms, was fitted with a roof. Although the ground in Antalja also has a synthetic turf pitch, it is not covered.

Scouting: Revinka are defensively solid, but also posess some dangerous attacking outlets. A star striker is on the list with the new budget increase, whilst a central midfielder is also on Juremchuk's list.

Manager: Max Juremchuk
Captain: Jessika Struna (RM)
Mattijanan Internationals: Lucija Handanovic (GK), Edvard Craz (CD), Jessika Struna (RM), Lara Ljunevic (LB)

Rapid Petrovijanka

Home Stadium: Stadijo OstOtok, Petrovijanka
Location: Central Petrovijanka
Nickname: The Savas.
Colours: Red and white
Last season: 4th
Predicted finish: 4th

Rapid Petrovijanka boast the best interior design in the league. The Stadijo OstOtok is situated on a natural island in the Sava Petrovi river, in central Petrovijanka, and is decorated in a largely wooden traditional manner.
Decoration in the trophy cabinet has been a little sparser recently. The Savas won the league title 5 years ago, but are without silverware since. Despite that, Rapid posess good firepower. Mattijana striker Mathilde Lekarisa leads the line and is backed up by fellow international midfielder Mattias Hoffman. However the side have been inconsistent, particularly at the back, and are now managerless after Jelena Kamisova left the club following another dissapointing year.
Rapid have the history and the potential, but need better organisation and a more consistent and arguably more defined style.

Scouting: Rapid are looking for a new centre back and full back and may also be interested in a defensive midfielder. They are also managerless and a new head coach is required and desired before the start of the season. The board are open minded as to who that may be and are searching abroad as well as around Mattijana.

Manager: VACANT
Captain: David Menscher (CB)
Mattijanan internationals: Mattias Hoffman (CAM), Mathilde Lekarisa

FK Puljanka

Home Stadium: Garijo Ales Struna, Puljanka
Location: North-East Puljanka
Nickname: The Toffs
Colours: Purple and white
Last Season: 5th
Predicted finish: 6th

Puljanka's nickname comes from the city's more upper-class history and has remained despite recent increases in social equality. The team have had riches on the pitch of late though. Under new Mattijana boss Dusan Vukoja, the Puljankans got to 5th in the table, their highest finish in 11 years.
The Toffs have been a fixture in the PrvaLiga for some time, but have largely been in mid-table obscurity. Although they have lost their manager to the national team, the rich counter-attacking and offensive legacy left by Vukoja should be enough to guide them to another good finish.

Scouting: Puljanka are another managerless side after Dusan Vukoja departed for the Mattijanan national side, so will be looking for someone sharing their philosophy of swift counter-attacking and wing-based play.
Puljanka are defensively sound, but would like a high-quality winger and central midfielder before the start of the new season.

Manager: Vacant
Captain: Dominik Illisević (RB)
Mattijanan internationals: Dominik Illisević (RB), Daniella Alaba (CF)

FK Snezn

Home stadium: Stadijo Snezn
Location: Southern Snezn, North-East Mattijana
Nickname: The Icemen
Colours: Blue and purple
Last Season: 6th
Predicted Finish: 8th

FK Snezn are in Mattijana's most northern city and conditions in the area make for a tricky away day. Heavy snow, driving rain and harsh winds are common and as a result, home form is usually good, particularly against sides from the warmer climes of the south.

Snezn have been hanging around the lower top 10 of the PrvaLiga for a while now, but nearly went one better last year as they threatened the top 5, eventually losing out to Puljanka by 4 points.
The team lack major personalities, but are a good team unit and especially possess the defensive organisation that would make Rapid Petrovijanka very jealous. Despite that, Katarina Jakupovic was rewarded with a starting berth in the Mattijanan national team during World Cup 79 qualifying.

Scouting: Snezn are solid defensively and have a good engine room in midfield. A striker is on the list for improvements, but a creative winger is also of interest.

Manager: Marko Wladić
Captain: Katarina Jakupovič (CM)
Mattijanan Internationals:
Katarina Jakupovic (CM)

Weststrand FK

Home Stadium: WesterStadion, Weststrand
Location: Weststrand, Western Mattijana
Nickname: The Whales
Colours: Blue and Gold
Last season: 7th
Predicted finish: 9th

WestStrand are located on Mattijana's west coast, more commonly a rugby hotbed. However football has blossomed in popularity recently as the Mattijanan national side made a visit during their qualifyimg campaign.
Yet WestStrand's PrvaLiga success also has a role in football's rise in the region. The team took a record result last season when they finished 7th whilst central midfielder Juliana Kjoffman was rewarded with a Mattijana call-up.
WestStrand's tactics are slightly more rustic and unconventional by Mattijanan standards. The long ball has often proved effective, even in often blowy conditions by the sea. Swinging crosses
In left right and centre has worked and it's only due to her talent that Kjoffman got a look in from Dusan Vukoja at all.

Scouting: Weststrand have their style and any potential new recruit should fit that style. A target man is something of interest and will have to be big, strong and capable of a good header. A pacey winger to run off said big man may also come in handy, but one will have to come with the other.

Manager: Nadia RösKopf
Captain: Dominik Schapfer (CB)
Mattijanan Internationals: Juliana Kjoffman (CAM)

Matbirjke FK

Home Stadium: Stadijo Alpija, Matbirjke
Location: Central Matbirjke, Centre-West Mattijana
Nickname: The Eagles
Colours: Blue and white
Last Season: 8th
Predicted Finish: 7th

Mattijana's highest PrvaLiga side at around 1500 metres in Matbirjke, a trip to play the eagles is another tough away day.
Despite the tough conditions, Matbirjke have a strong side on the pitch, with youth and fitness a specialism. Kara Lorenzic has impressed in the zippy conditions whilst Kevin Krychowiak has also impressed, earning a senior Mattijana spot.

The central alps where the team sits are more known for their winter sports history, but football has also earned its respect in the region.

Scouting: Matbirjke are after a new full-back to partner Krychowiak, whilst a goalkeeper is also needed if Matbirjke are to hit the dizzy heights of the top 5.

Manager: Daria Makič
Captain: Sami Kuzbacher (CB)
Mattijanan internationals: Kevin Krychowiak (RB), Kara Lorenzič

FK Petrovijanka

Home Stadium: Stadijo Petrovi, Petrovijanka
Location: West Petrovijanka
Nickname: The Oranjas
Colours: Orange and Green
Last Season: 9th
Predicted Finish: 5th

With a few sides registering their best ever results, there had to be a loser and FK Petrovijanka had an unusually dire season last time out. The side from the west of the Mattijanan capital are usually somewhere around the top 5, but a poor run of form at the back end of the season left them sliding down the leaderboard.

The team play in orange and green, a somewhat cheeky variation on the green and yellow of the national side and the colours of the Mattijanan capital and the surrounding area. They are believed to be the 3rd oldest side in the city, behind Rapid and Dinamo, despite the more simple name. They play at the Stadijo Petrovi, a 40,000 capacity ground next to the Petrovi river in the west of the city.

Although the team struggled last season, the club has the financial and footballing firepower to lift itself back to its former location at the sharper end of the table.

Scouting: FK are looking for a new manager after their struggles last season. A solid centre back and a central midfielder are needed to strengthen the spine of the team.

Manager: VACANT
Captain: Kara Dominikova (CM)
Mattijanan Internationals: Matej Handanovic (GK)

FK Antalja

Home Stadium: Stadijo Otoki, Kranja
Location: Kranja city, Antalja island, southern Mattijana
Nickname: The dolphins
Colours: Blue and Orange
Last Season: 10th
Predicted Finish: 10th

Rounding off the top 10 are FK Antalja. Situated on the beautiful island of Antalja, off the coast of Revinka, the club itself is in the city of Kranja on the west coast of the island.
The stadium itself is one of only two permanently artificial ones in the country due to the dry and inconsistent conditions in the area. The development allowed the team to rise up from the depths of the lower-mid table and Antlaja have been knocking around the edge of the top 10 for the last few seasons.
Youth is a strength of the first team. Former Mattijanan U21s and now senior players Martin Vaskaric and Rikard Illicic make up the core of the defence and despite inexperience, have stepped up well over the last two seasons.

Scouting:Antalja are after a striker before next season. The rest of the team are fairly settled however and manager Dominik Struna will be hoping to remain at the club for a few more years at least.

Manager: Dominik Struna
Captain: Julian Stanic (LM)
Mattijanan Internationals: Rikard Illicic (CB), Martin Vaskaric (GK)

FK Savafluss

Home Stadium: Stadijo Ljubanik, Savafluss
Location: Eastern Petrovijanka
Nickname: The Otters
Colours: Blue
Last Season: 11th
Predicted Finish: 14th

FK Savafluss is where former Mattijana coach Matej Ljubanik started his career and the club honoured his time at the club by re-naming their stadium after him. Under Ljubanik, Savafluss rose from the middle of division two to gain promotion and a seemingly stable position in the middle of the PrvaLiga.
The team itself have always wanted a footballing philosophy to reflect their riverside location. The football on show should be flowing, powerful and sustainable over multiple seasons.
Ljubanik fitted that bill and so too did his successor Ekatarina Iljana, the 42 year old former player lifting the side to 11th in the most recent season. With distance placed between Savafluss and the lower-table scrap, Savafluss will be looking for stability and marginal improvements in the coming season, with a top 10 finish the target.

Scouting: Savafluss are another settled side, but will look to make one or two good signings. A winger is on the list and an attacking midfielder is also a target for Iljana.

Manager: Ekatarina Iljana
Captain: Naomi Konta
Mattijanan internationals: None

FK Konja

Home Stadium: Stadijo Obala, Konja
Location: Central Konja, South East Mattijana
Nickname: The Mermaids
Colours: Gold and white
Last Season: 12th
Predicted Finish: 13th

Located 150 miles down the coast from Revinka in the south-east of the country, Konja got the bragging rights over (fairly) local rivals Shalkar last season with a 12th placed finish. There are no star names in the side, but a reasonable smattering of talent and manager Danil Poranović will be optimistic of another good finish this year.

Scouting: Konja are looking for some improvements rather than major squad surgery this year. A striker is beimg looked at, but is not essential and it wouldn't be the end of the world if no new additions came in.

Manager: Danil Poranović
Captain: Samir Stanja (GK)
Mattijanan Internationals: None

FK Shalkar

Home Stadium: Stadijo Shalkar, Shalkar
Location: Northern Shalkar, South-East Mattijana
Nickname: The Sandstorms
Colours: Yellow
Last Season: 13th
Predicted Finish: 11th

Having lost out to their rivals by a couple of points last season, Shalkar were seen by many to have underacheived last season. A top ten push may be slightly beyond them, but the sandstorms will be hoping to improve on a mediocre performance last year. Sofiane Bisrali, who scored 5 in World Cup 79 Qualifying for Mattijana, is the star player. The winger is a Shalkar native and will want to drive his side to a better finish.
The town itself is a smaller one, sitting further inland from the regional capital of Konja. The semi-desert around the area makes for more challenging conditions and the town relies on a natural spring for water and farm land. Temperatures can be tough in summer however and away days early and late in the season may prove tricky.

Scouting: Shalkar have flair, but showed defensive frailties last season. A new centre back and holding midfielder are needed to provide extra solidity and a manager capable of instilling some organisation is sought after.

Manager: VACANT
Captain: Samira Kazmir (CF)
Mattijanan Internationals: Sofiane Bisrali (RW)

FK KammenBerg

Home Stadium: Gerijo Nordberg
Location: Northern Burges, Centre-North Mattijana
Nickname: The Raindrops
Colours: Red and Black
Last Season: 14th
Predicted Finish: 12th

Situated in a suburb of northern Burges, the second team of Mattijana's second city enjoyed a solid showing last season having been promoted back to the PrvaLiga after a 7 year absence. The slightly soggy nature of the region earns the side their nickname, one that had been embraced by the fans despite the connotations.
The team itself are optimistic of further success. Manager Sofia Keunssberg is held in high regard amongst fans after sealing their promotion from division two and keeping them up the season after. Despite a tight budget and lack of star players, a good defensive unit should lead to more progress.

Scouting: KammenBerg are defensively solid, but scored fairly few goals and created few chances last season. A creative central midfielder is on the cards, as is a new winger, but cheaper options are needed.

Manager: Sofia Keunssberg
Captain: Dominik Schopf (CB)
Mattijanan Internationals: None

Devrasee FK

Home Stadium: Meersee Stadion, Devrasee
Location: Central Devrasee, Centre-west Mattijana
Nickname: The lakesiders
Colours: Blue and slightly lighter blue
Last Season: 15th
Predicted Finish: 17th

Devrasee is located next to a lake in the western foothills of the central Alps and is a nice place for a summer holiday. Despite the summer joy for many, the football team struggled last season after a solid start and nearly slid into the relegation zone, eventually surviving by 4 points.

With an under pressure manager and a side with split morale, things may prove tough next season and it is tough to see the team turning around their form, even after the pre-season break.

Scouting: Devrasee looked short of defensive strength late last season and a new, but fairly cheap centre back and possibly goalkeeper are needed if the team are to survive.

Manager: Mariona Kuzmayer
Captain: Alex Mayer (CM)
Mattijanan Internationals: None

FK Mezica

Home Stadium: Garijo Strandska, Mezica
Location Western Mezica, South-West Mattijana
Nickname: The angels
Colours: Red and yellow
Last Season: 16th
Predicted Finish: 15th

Scoring goals was the main issue during Mezica's first top-flight season last year, but the South-Western outfit, situated in a more compact seaside city, did enough to stay up by the skin of their teeth, relegating fellow southerners Izola.

The team are hungry to push on, but with money not a luxury and the issues in attack still present, another relegation battle is on the cards.

Scouting: Mezica are looking for a striker and are willing to take a gamble on one or two unproven faces if they do not cost much. Alternatively, a proven but ageing centre forward may be of interest as a short-term fix.

Manager: Lorenzo Putnik
Captain: Katarina Zeela (CB)
Mattijanan Internationals: None

FK Ljubala

Home Stadium: Stadijo Drava, Ljubana
Location: Central Ljubana, Eastern Mattijana
Nickname: The Red Stars
Colours: Purple and orange
Last Season: Promoted (Division 2 Champions)
Predicted Finish: 16th

Ljubala have history in the PrvaLiga having dropped out only 4 seasons ago and are by far the more likely of the two promoted teams to make a success of their foray into the top flight.
The red stars (who ironically do not play in red) were dominant on there way to the title, but will need to step up their game to avoid the drop this season. Striker Dani Kostic was division 2's top scorer last year and will hope to hit top form once more to keep his side up.

Scouting: a stronger midfield will be the key to life in the PrvaLiga for Ljubala. One or two central midfielders will be on the cards and, providing they can attract some bigger names, Ljubala have slightly more cash to splash than their rear-end rivals.

Manager: Andrez Jelanov
Captain: Danil Kostic (CF)
Mattijanan Internationals: None

SudStrand FK

Home Stadium: LuftStadion, SudStrand
Location: Southern SudStrand, Western Mattijana
Nickname: The Airbags
Colours: Yellow and Black
Last Season: Promoted (2nd in Division 2)
Predicted Finish: 18

SudStrand's unusual nickname was given to them by their local rivals WestStrand, but the second newly promoted side won't want the air knocked out of them this season.

The team are taking part in their first season in the top flight and face a gruelling set of fixtures. The side are undoubtedly the most unproven in the league and are tipped by many for bottom spot.
Lack of expectations can prove handy, but with a limited budget and no PrvaLiga experience, things will be tough for SudStrand.

Scouting:

SudStrand are interested in players with experience in top divisions, however good they actually are. No faces will need to arrive on the cheap and will have to be ready to face a relegation scrap.

Manager: Jasmin Velja
Captain: Martin Auer (LM)
Mattijanan Internationals: None
The socialist republic of Mattijana:
As if Austria, Slovenia, North-Eastern Europe and Sweden were merged together into some weird stew of a country.
through resilience, we are strong!

Part Two

Audioslavia (AUD) Qualifiers:
Champions Cup: AC Izotz Zubia, Cazadores Cathair, 1830 Cathair, Oljestaden IF
Globe Cup: Tout-Puissant Hasiera, KT Moreazerua, KT Itzalovalle
SBCC: Burdoc Ridge, Artiglieria, Silexhera FC

AOCL: AC Izotz Zubia, 1830 Cathair/Cazadores Cathair (see 'Open Letter' below)
Cygnus Cup: KT Ferramendiak

VCIAPP: Shamrock Cathair
Association: Audioslavia (AUD)
Selection Via: 'Treacle Award'. With six/seven UICA qualifiers per season and up to three relegations spot for just a ten-team league, managing to finish a season in the same division yet without the prospect of inter-nation club football is quite a feat. With this in mind, the FFA has proposed that the team earning the 'treacle award' be put forward as Audioslavian football's nomination for the Vilitan Cove Invitational.
Champions Cup
Series B Champions Cup Final
Burdina Jauregia
Capacity: 85,000
City: Ferramendiak, Audioslavia
The Burdina Jauregia, or Iron Palace in the local dialect, was finished just a few months before World Cup 75 and was used to host the opening match of the tournament as well as the fourth quarter-final, in which Audioslavia put five goals past Electrum.

The outer structure uses, as the name suggests, quite a lot of iron, if only for visual effect, and more modern materials are used the higher up the stadium you go. The ground's most noticeable feature is the criss-cross iron pattern over the roof, giving it the feel of an oversized implement from one of the Saw films when viewed from far away.

Inside, the pitch is large and surrounded on all sides by two tiered stands that rise up to the aforementioned grid. The seats, numerous and fairly luxurious as far as stadia go, are painted white in the colours of tenants KT Ferramendiak, who moved into the stadium at the end of the tournament. The stadium has played host to a Globe Cup final, which was a point of pride for club KT Ferramendiak, but only after arch city rivals KT Itzalovalle had been knocked out in the semi-finals of the very same tournament.
AOCL Final
Arena Kirola / The 66 Stadium
Capacity: 85,500
City: Cathair, Audioslavia
The 66 Stadium, called the Arena Kirola for marketing purposes, became the home stadium of the Audioslavia national football team for World Cup 66, for which it was built. One could call the Kirola Arena 'modern', but as the word tends to imply abstract minimalism and modest use of space, the word isn't quite the right one to use. The arena features a large shopping complex, complete with cinema, an array of chain cafes and restaurants, three gyms, a swimming pool and even a sauna. The conference rooms are numerous, large and lavish, and the media centre for visiting journalists and television crews is arguably one of the biggest and hi-tech in the world.

As for the football part of the stadium, one could be forgiven for thinking it was an afterthought, squeezed in at the last minute between the vast media complex and larger of two fast food restaurants. In truth, the narrow, long pitch is perfectly suited to the cautious, defensive, kontrapuntzeka brand of football played by the Audioslavian national team and adopted by club tenants 1830 Cathair, who not only won five LigAnaia championships at the ground but also their first and (to date) only UICA Champions Cup trophy. Rivals AC Izotz Zubia also won their Champions Cup trophy on the same ground. The narrow playing area, towering stands (the FFA's insistence on large, comfortable seating for each punter necessitated the stadium's vertigo-inducing height, with three tiers encircling the pitch) and large roof lets little light in during the day, but keeps the sound of the crowd echoing around the arena allowing for a deafening atmosphere. The the state-of-the-art floodlight system, bright white goal nets and high, white walls between the grass and the stands - laden with electronic advertising for big games - gives the stadium a distintive look, perfectly suited to live television.

Dear Cazadores around the world,

We hereby apologise for the clerical errors that put forward 1830 Cathair into last year's AOCL, despite Cazadores Cathair having won the league. This was an unforgivable error on our part. We, as with most people, are used to assuming a 'Cathair' at the top of the league table meant 1830 had won yet another league title, and thus put forward your arch rivals in your stead into the Atlantian Oceania Champions League. We also appreciate that it must have been especially galling to have to watch your hated rivals win the AOCL when, really, it should have been you guys there showing the region how it's done.

There is, for now, very little we can do except promise not to make the same mistake again. We are, however, currently in the process of negotiations with the AOCL with regards to entering Cazadores into next season's competition at the expense of 1830 Cathair who, as champions, should by rights have an automatic berth into the tournament. You probably shouldn't hold your collective breaths for a positive outcome, but we feel it is the least we can do.

Yours apologetically,

The Football Federation of Audioslavia
