After a year where a new power tried to establish itself, instead the old guard of the region looked to come out and dominate the landscape, with Raynor City United, Cednia Beach, and 1830 Cathair making the semifinals, as well as the Farfadillis representative. In the end, it was United against Cathair in Ko-oren for a battle to decide the regions' best club this year. United has the history in the competition, but the IFCF says that Audioslavia is the best league in the world at the moment. It seemed the latter was the stronger on the day, with Cathair emerging the victor in a seven goal thriller. All entrants into the next AOCL must have won their nation's league or be the highest placed team of their association in a multiassociation league, with the exception of 1830 Cathair who are guaranteed a spot in the next AOCL first round. Should they fail to qualify directly, Audioslavia will be granted a second spot.

Future bids for host stadia will be taken into consideration, though the default in case of no bids will always be the stadium of Stade de Torgos in Torgos. A final reminder also that all Rushmori nations only (including any and all puppets) will be able to submit their league champions only (or top ranked team in the event of multi-associational leagues of more than one Rushmori nation) for entry into the next CdC; this includes puppet leagues that don't submit to IFCF. The submission period opened when the IFCF closed entries to the last IFCF tournaments, and will close again when the IFCF closes entries to the next IFCF tournaments. No invitations will be sent. You must indicate at the bottom of your league summary that you wish your league champion to take part, and I take no responsibility for missing it if you've only shown it in your table.

Keep your entries coming in for the next edition!

It's been a while and the tournament has been off sequence with others, but the 32nd CEdC will underway fairly soon. Because it has been a while, consider this a 24-hour warning to submit any teams to the competition that have not already been submitted. The CEdC will be going back and finalizing the field within the next few days.

SEASON XVIII PREVIEW

Not sure who to support? Have a look here - there's everything you need to know about every team that's played in the Revival Era of the O-League; that's Season 14 onwards.

Image

Home Colours: Oxblood shirts, cream shorts, oxblood socks
Away Colours: Amber shirts, black shorts, amber socks
Ground: The Rutian Grounds (56,066)
Nickname: The Bears – an animal long associated with the city of Ashton.
Manager: Peter Martin (58)

Last Season: 5th

Overview: Ashton Olympic have taken a while to rise towards the top table, but they're determined to stay there. A slow burn of consolidation led to Olympic shocking the established order in Season 16 by winning the title. Last season was a bit of a comedown, but they're still up there with the big boys.

Prediction: Given that they seem to keep their heads when others crash and burn, could have an outside tilt at the title. 3rd

Image

Home Colours: All red.
Away Colours: All white.
Third Colours: All blue.
Ground: Avidair Stadium (28,695)
Nickname: City – self-explanatory.
Manager: Carlos Ceballos (47)

Last Season: 1st, Division One

Overview: It's a tough lot being the second team in the Second City. Especially when you've had more than a couple of seasons in the second flight whilst your rivals are lording it at the top. It's a shame, really, as the team have an owner who cares about the side and passionate fans – it's just that their cross-city rivals have both of those things plus cash and reputation. Still, winning the Division One title didn't suck.

Prediction: It'll be close at the bottom, but City should have just about enough to beat the drop. 17th

Image

Home Colours: Sky blue shirts, navy socks and shorts.
Away Colours: All gold.
Ground: New City Stadium (88,553)
Nickname: The Eagles – the vestigial tail of a brief renaming experiment. United is also used.
Manager: Joe Garrido (61)

Last Season: 2nd

Overview: Being the only one of the “Big Three” not owned by a Mercian bajillionaire, Avidia United have become the second team of many fans who put themselve in the Anyone But Borough And Bromham camp. To be fair, they're not exactly strapped for cash themselves, and have a pretty good youth development system, so they have the chops to back it up.

Prediction: Bridesmaids twice in a row...surely this time? 1st

Image

Home Colours: Blue shirts, white shorts, orange socks.
Away Colours: Orange shirts, blue shorts, white socks.
Ground: Orange Street (37,665)
Nickname: The Mariners – Beckton's an old harbour city on the shores of the Beck.
Manager: Lee Webb (44)

Last Season: 6th

Overview: Beckton basically catapulted themselves into the national consciousness thanks to one great cup run. They've built on it well, though, investing wisely to morph from a lower-division footnote to a mid-table well-established top flight side. Despite this, Mariners fans still pinch themselves every season they finish outside of the relegation zone, never mind the top six.

Prediction: Last season was probably a fluke; they'll fall, but not too far. 8th

Image

Home Colours: Dark green shirts, white shorts, dark green socks.
Away Colours: White shirts, green shorts, black socks.
Ground: Abbey Road (47,260)
Nickname: The Saints – that part of their moniker comes from their origins as St Petroc's FC, a church recreational side.
Manager: Wayne Dolenz (61)

Last Season: 10th

Overview: Bradwell Saints are the epitome of mid-table. Able to produce talent, but not necessarily hold onto it, Saints plough a nice furrow between the big boys and the dogfight, though they'd rather be finishing above rivals Stanton than below, as has been the case in recent seasons. Don't mention who won the Season 17 title if you value your extremities.

Prediction: An ageing squad could see them slip down the table. 14th

Image

Home Colours: Navy shirts, white shorts, navy socks.
Away Colours: White and red striped shirts, red shorts, navy socks.
Third Colours: Yellow shirts, navy shorts, red socks.
Ground: Midland Stadium (79,256)
Nickname: The Navies - navy blue shirts, after all. Also City.
Manager: Alexander Smith (48)

Last Season: 16th

Overview: Originally the big dogs in Bromham, Mercia's ruthlessness in search for success has seen City somewhat left behind. Fans see the club as Bromham's "true" team.

Prediction: A decent crop coming up from Division One could see them run out of chances. 18th

Image

Home Colours: Navy and purple hooped shirts, navy shorts, purple socks
Away Colours: Yellow and pink hooped shirts, pink shorts, yellow socks
Ground: Walton Gardens (55,208)
Nickname: Caley – short for Caledon. Also the Lions, from their badge.
Manager: Stephen Kerr (56)

Last Season: 11th

Overview: Simpson is traditionally the home of Krytenia's ethnically Caledonian community, and this is reflected in the identity and colours of their hometown club. Most well known for winning the AOCL in the days way, way before the O-League. Now hoping their current squad can lead them back to relevance.

Prediction: A rare mid-table non mover. 11th

Image

Home Colours: Blue and amber striped shirts, amber shorts, blue and amber socks.
Away Colours: All white.
Ground: New Coalfields (71,119)
Nickname: The Miners – Osteria was built on the coalmining industry, though steelworking is now the biggest employer.
Manager: Samuel Dee (46)

Last Season: 9th

Overview: Casuals fans are nothing if not entertained. The team are famed for their swashbuckling style, matched only by their unpredictability. This is the team, after all, that escaped relegation in the last minute of the season, and finished third the very next year. Half the fun of watching the men in blue and amber is trying to guess exactly which one will turn up.

Prediction: Mitigated a dip in the league by winning the Cup. Look like they could spring a few surprises. 6th

Image

Home Colours: Purple shirts, white shorts, purple socks..
Away Colours: White shirts, black shorts and socks.
Ground: County Ground (44,181)
Nickname: The Derries - "Dereapolis" is a bit of a mouthful, so the city is often shortened to just "Derry".
Manager: Marcus Fletcher (50)

Last Season: 3rd, Division One

Overview: Forever having the title of Nova Mercia's first league title winner, though this was many iterations of the national league ago. Nowadays best known for being a second tier stalwart, Season 18 represents a rare soujourn into the top flight.

Prediction: Of the promoted teams, they probably have the squad that's most "Prem-ready". 16th

Image

Home Colours: All red.
Away Colours: All black.
Third Colours: White shirts, black shorts, red socks.
Ground: Isserson Olympic Stadium (150,340)
Nickname: The Reds – can't think why.
Manager: Howard Eales (55)

Last Season: 4th

Overview: Always the bridesmaids, never the brides (except that one time). Somehow, Emberton Reds seem to find fresh and interesting ways to fail to live up to their potential. Their choke jobs are legendary, and you can tell a Reds fan in February by the glassy look to their eyes as their beloved team once again throw away a promising season.

Prediction: Will challenge early, then fall away. The more things change.... 5th

Image

Home Colours: White shirts, blue shorts, red socks.
Away Colours: Red and blue striped shirts, white shorts, red and blue hooped socks.
Ground: Bell Moor (51,093)
Nickname: The Stallions - the white horse has long been a civic symbol.
Manager: Stephen Crozier (41)

Last Season: 2nd, Division One

Overview: Better known for their Bell Moor ground, oddly cavernous for a traditionally small team, Season 18 represents only the second-ever top flight season for the state of Yardley's biggest club.

Prediction: Back to the forest with you. 20th

Image

Home Colours: Blue shirts, white shorts, blue socks.
Away Colours: All yellow.
Third Colours: Green shirts, blue shorts, green socks.
Ground: Lay's Road (39,981)
Nickname: The Gears – Leston is the industrial heartland of the Nova Mercia region that makes up the south of the country.
Manager: Roger Bradley (55)

Last Season: 12th

Overview: A hard working team from a hard working town. Leston won't ever win awards for stylish football, but they've engendered a great team ethic and have a young squad capable of turning heads.

Prediction: Tenth place is probably around their usual. 10th

Image

Home Colours: White and navy striped shirts, navy shorts, white and navy socks
Away Colours: Red shirts, navy shorts, red socks
Ground: Cygnus Stadium (105,013)
Nickname: The Midlanders – the Midland river flows through Bromham, past the stadium.
Manager: Gary Barton (41)

Last Season: 7th

Overview: Oh, Mercia. They're probably the most hated team in the league, and it's not really their fault. The problem, rather, is the Swann family, who have a reputation for being rather...unscrupulous in their business dealings whilst also just happening to own the club. Then again, when you own the largest company in Krytenia, you can afford to be a little less ethical. Unless, of course, it leads to a fight with the manager, who decides to decamp to Stanton...and now you know the rest of the story.

Prediction: Mr Swann needs to dust off the chequebook yesterday. 7th

Image

Home Colours: Black and white striped shirts, black shorts and socks.
Away Colours: Red, green, and white shirts, white shorts, green socks.
Ground: Parc Abertawy / Abertawy Park (31,101)
Nickname: Albion – the club is named after Druidan heavyweights Cefn Albion.
Manager: Alun Jenkins (41)

Last Season: 17th

Overview: New Cefn is the hub of Krytenia's Druidan Mock Welsh community. As such, the team has always prided itself on representing that group of people, and have prioritised developing local talent over league success. That being said, they do a very good job of nurturing that talent time and time again.

Prediction: Not even Belmwr can save them this time. 19th

Image

Home Colours: Red shirts, white shorts, red socks.
Away Colours: White shirts, red shorts, white socks.
Third Colours: All light green.
Ground: Knott Crescent (50,552)
Nickname: Rangers – because of course it is.
Manager: Jonathan Thorneycroft (40)

Last Season: 14th

Overview: It's been a while since top-flight football has graced the city of Tyfield, but the former Mercian giants have clawed their way back to relevance on the back of some sizzling play, and kept their heads above water last time. The big ask at this point, of course, is keeping that going; the boot-room promotion of Jonathan Thorneycroft seems to have helped.

Prediction: Unspectacular, but will pick up enough points not to sweat. Again. 13th

Image

Home Colours: All white.
Away Colours: All black.
Third Colours: All gold.
Ground: Southern Arena (91,093)
Nickname: The Tigers – formerly the White Tigers but later shortened. Alternatively just Boro is fine.
Manager: Bob O'Neill (52)

Last Season: 3rd

Overview: Long-time followers will need no introduction to these lot. They are, without a doubt, the most successful side in Krytenian football. Former home team of Valrauncion. Like Mercia, are owned by a minted Mercian family; the difference, though, is that the Spencer family remember they're human beings. Their property empire includes a litany of government contracts that have led to the nation having probably the best social housing stock in Calania. They're also not afraid to splash the cash on the team, as anyone who remembers the Tigers teams of the past will attest.

Prediction: Improved from their Season 16 low, but it still feels there's something missing. 4th

Image

Home Colours: Silver shirts, red shorts, red and silver hooped socks.
Away Colours: Red and burgundy shirts, white shirts, burgundy socks.
Ground: Argent Field (20,882)
Nickname: The Silvermen - silver mining is the local industry.
Manager: Ewan McCrory (48)

Last Season: 13th.

Overview: Oustia have never been a big name in Krytenian football; indeed, their promotion to the Premier in Season 17 surprised even them. Even more surprisingly, they stayed up reasonably comfortably.

Prediction: Everybody wrote them off last season, and look what happened. Will stay up again. 15th

Image

Home Colours: Wine and navy halved shirts, ecru shorts, wine socks.
Away Colours: Ecru shirts, wine shorts, navy socks.
Ground: Oxley Park (53,882)
Nickname: The Royals or Pats – first is obvious, second is from one of their previous names.
Manager: Graham Beverington (45)

Last Season: 8th

Overview: Emberton's other team are probably the only one in the league that needs to know the plural of “identity crisis”. Formed as Everton City Patriots, their first name change was a forced one when the capital became Emberton; a few seasons later they became simply Krytenia Emberton. During the West Starblaydi regime they were known as Emberton Oxley – for obvious reasons – before becoming Royal Emberton after the Restoration. Despite all the changes of name, though, the lion badge and unique colour pallette have remained constant. Sadly, the team's consistency is more in line with the name than the kits.

Prediction: Bogged in the middle of their table, looking up at their rivals yet again. 9th

Image

Home Colours: Green and yelllow hooped shirts, yellow shorts, green socks.
Away Colours: All black.
Ground: South Road (32,240)
Nickname: Rangers – pretty obvious, really.
Manager: Matthew Orsini (51)

Last Season: 15th

Overview: Sandwell have never been a big name in Krytenian football, but surprisingly found themselves in the top flight for Season Sixteen. Despite widely being expected to go straight back down, Rangers confounded the critics by staying up comfortably.

Prediction: Now look comfortable in their surroundings, and yet people still sleep on them. Underestimate at your peril. 12th

Image

Home Colours: Red shirts, white shorts, blue socks.
Away Colours: White shirts, blue shorts, black socks.
Third Colours: Blue shirts and shorts, white socks.
Ground: Harbour Stadium (60,662)
Nickname: The Dockers – Stanton is a massive ferry and container harbour with a city bolted on.
Manager: Paul James (51)

Last Season: 1st

Overview: Famed as the home of the Kennedy dynasty of strikers, the Dockers' performance is usually directly related to whether the latest member of the family is playing up front. Made up for losing their manager to the Chromatik national team by poaching Mercia's, who promptly guided them to the title. Isn't karma a bitch?

Prediction: Strong core, to be beaten only by a seriously PO'ed Eagles team this season. 2nd
"I revel in the nonsense; it's why I'm in Anaia."

Welcome to the late 37th edition of the International University Challenge Championship, the top international competition for sides representing Universities and Colleges all across the multiverse. For this edition, numbers dropped to eight participating nations, which in turn made for the first time a Group Stage would be included during the Hinodejin administration of the IUCC.

Trigrams:
CMT	Chromatika
HIN Kita-Hinode
KOR Ko-oren
LIS Lisander
OAM Oberour Ar Moro
STL Siovania and Teus
TAE Taeshan
ZWZ Zwangzug

Extra Notes:

- Siovania and Teus could've sent four entries for the tournament, thanks to TU Stelberg's title win. Since they chose not to, three entries were accepted.
- To interested parties that are unsure of sending qualifiers, keep in mind that these are the acceptable options to send representatives to the tournament:
1. The top three teams from the nation's university-based league (regardless of whether they're unisex or gender-aligned).
2. The top three teams from the nation's university-based cups (regardless of whether they're unisex or gender-aligned).
3. The best three university teams from the nation's pyramid (although they'll be restricted to play only students of the institution / recently-graduated athletes (their graduation year has to have been the previous season).
4. The best three university teams from the nation's youth league (the same restriction from option 3 applies).
- While I'm at it: make sure you list your qualified teams under "IUCC", to make it easier to find every entry. Everyone who signed up did that but I just wanted to make it clearer to those who haven't signed up yet and might be considering it.
- Due to being the sole bidding party for the final, the Armskirk Municipal Ground at Maynard, Ko-oren was chosen to host the final unanimously.

GROUP ROUND
With twenty-four participants, teams were drawn up in eight groups of three, playing the other two teams of their group twice (once at home and once away). Group leaders would qualify to the knock-out stage.

FINAL @ Armskirk Municipal Ground, Maynard, Ko-oren - 26.000 seats, 26.000 sold (full house)
Saint Isidore University (OAM) 3–1 Universite de la Cote Austral (KOR)

Congratulations to Saint Isidore University, the first-ever champions hailing from Oberour Ar Moro! Our biggest commiserations to the Universite de la Cote Austral and similar thoughts to all other teams that failed to reach the final. Once again, our most sincere thanks to all entries for allowing another edition of the IUCC into existence and a special thanks to Chromatika for reminding me of the tournament.

Notes:
- This was the last edition where nations were restricted to three entries. Instead, every nation that signs up fo the IUCC from now on should preferably send four entries to the tournament, instead of three.
- Saint Isidore University is thus granted the opportunity to defend their title next season, being guaranteed into the Group Stage of the next tournament, should the numbers allow for a Group Stage. This entry will not count as one of Oberour Ar Moro's entries, who shall, in turn, be allowed to send four institutions besides Saint Isidore University to the next tournament. Should Oberour Ar Moro not send any entries, Saint Isidore University will be the country's sole entry.
- Any nations that sent a bid for the final venue site are welcome to send a bid again, no cool down needed. Should no bid be sent for host rights, the final will be played at the Philosopher's Field at Philosophatas.
- The deadline for the next IUCC shall be the same as the one for IFCF again, although once again it's possible that we'll be accepting entries post-deadline if the tournament isn't scorinated out of the gate.
- Apologies for the late scorination of the tournament. As some might have noticed, the Hinodejin pull-out from the IFCF ended up affecting my running of the tournament this time around. Let it be known that this was not on purpose and activity in the IUCC will resume from this cycle onwards as normal as possible, taking under consideration any possible incidents.

O-LEAGUE : SEASON XVIII - PART ONE

With the last two champions being Stanton Town and Ashton Olympic, the "Big Three" of Avidia United, Ousevale Borough, and Mercia Bromham will be out for blood. With the long overdue return to the Premier Division of Dereapolis City, the resurrection of the Second City Derby, and the continued Cinderella tales that are Sandwell and Oustia, this could be one of the most unpredictable seasons of the O-League yet. Enough stalling...let's do it to it!

MATCHDAY 1
Lay's Road is the venue for the Champions' Kick Off, but Stanton can only open their account for the season with a goalless draw. This allows the big fish to put down some markers, and it's Avidia and Ousevale who duly oblige with crushing victories. A win for Oustia against new boys Hastings means they start the season in fourth place; if they're anywhere near that at the end of the season I'll eat my laptop.

Results:
Emberton Reds 1-1 Notegia Rangers
Caledon Simpson 2-1 New Cefn Albion
Bromham City 1-5 Ousevale Borough
Mercia Bromham 2-0 Avidia City
Avidia United 6-1 Royal Emberton
Leston Town 0-0 Stanton Town
Dereapolis City 1-3 Casuals Osteria
Oustia 3-1 Hastings County
Sandwell Rangers 1-0 Bradwell Saints
Ashton Olympic 3-0 Beckton Supermarine

MATCHDAY 2
I think it's safe to say Stanton manager Paul James enjoys his schadenfreude. Not content with winning the title in his first season at the Harbour Stadium, his charges then beat his former club like they owe him money. Indeed, of the eight sides that won on Matchday One, there was a singular team that registered a second win.

That team...is Sandwell Rangers.

Never mind the laptop, if they finish the season there, I'm eating the desk.

Results:
New Cefn Albion 0-1 Emberton Reds
Ousevale Borough 1-1 Notegia Rangers
Avidia City 3-0 Caledon Simpson
Royal Emberton 1-1 Bromham City
Stanton Town 4-1 Mercia Bromham
Casuals Osteria 1-1 Avidia United
Hastings County 1-3 Leston Town
Bradwell Saints 0-1 Dereapolis City
Beckton Supermarine 0-0 Oustia
Ashton Olympic 0-1 Sandwell Rangers

MATCHDAY 3
Well, it was nice while it lasted. Sandwell may have beaten Ashton last week, but Oustia do the dirty on them and are now only goal difference off top spot. Above them are Avidia United and Stanton, who both recorded four-nil wins, whilst Mercia recovered from their lesson in humility by beating new boys Hastings. Pick of the day, though, was at the Isserson, where the Reds and Tigers shared ten goals between them for a point apiece.

Results:
Emberton Reds 5-5 Ousevale Borough
New Cefn Albion 1-1 Avidia City
Notegia Rangers 1-3 Royal Emberton
Caledon Simpson 0-4 Stanton Town
Bromham City 1-0 Casuals Osteria
Mercia Bromham 3-1 Hastings County
Avidia United 4-0 Bradwell Saints
Leston Town 0-1 Beckton Supermarine
Dereapolis City 2-0 Ashton Olympic
Oustia 3-1 Sandwell Rangers

MATCHDAY 4
It's safe to say Mercia are not enjoying their trips to the east coast. After shipping four to Stanton, it's Beckton Supermarine heaping on the misery with a three-nil win that leaves them three points off the top spot. Said top spot is now owned by Stanton, who did the job against New Cefn whilst Avidia United were busy losing in Ashton. Emberton Reds replace United in second by beating Avidia's other team, whilst Oustia are still third despite only picking up a single point against the Derries.

Results:
Avidia City 0-4 Emberton Reds
Royal Emberton 1-0 Ousevale Borough
Stanton Town 2-0 New Cefn Albion
Casuals Osteria 1-0 Notegia Rangers
Hastings County 0-2 Caledon Simpson
Bradwell Saints 4-2 Bromham City
Beckton Supermarine 3-0 Mercia Bromham
Ashton Olympic 2-1 Avidia United
Sandwell Rangers 0-1 Leston Town
Oustia 2-2 Dereapolis City

MATCHDAY 5
Five games in, and someone finally manages to take the full complement of points off Oustia; credit to the Silvermen, though, who very nearly came away from the New City Stadium with a draw. Stanton, meanwhile, have no such excuses after a shock defeat to Avidia City sees them cough up top spot and fall to third. Your new leaders are Emberton Reds, who were scarcely challenged against a sputtering Royals side.

As a footnote at the bottom, Hastings' draw with fellow strugglers New Cefn means everyone is now officially off the mark.

Results:
Emberton Reds 4-1 Royal Emberton
Avidia City 3-2 Stanton Town
Ousevale Borough 2-0 Casuals Osteria
New Cefn Albion 2-2 Hastings County
Notegia Rangers 0-2 Bradwell Saints
Caledon Simpson 2-1 Beckton Supermarine
Bromham City 1-1 Ashton Olympic
Mercia Bromham 1-2 Sandwell Rangers
Avidia United 2-1 Oustia
Leston Town 0-1 Dereapolis City

MATCHDAY 6
Reds fans know being top is hazardous to their health. At least this time they lose against the reigning champions, but the defeat sees them slip to fourth. Ahead of them are Avidia United, who are top on goals scored after beating Leston, the aforementioned Stanton, and...er...apparently Sandwell are still a thing. Huh. Good for them. Anyone know a good wine to go with melamine?

Results:
Stanton Town 2-0 Emberton Reds
Casuals Osteria 1-1 Royal Emberton
Hastings County 2-1 Avidia City
Bradwell Saints 1-2 Ousevale Borough
Beckton Supermarine 1-0 New Cefn Albion
Ashton Olympic 1-0 Notegia Rangers
Sandwell Rangers 2-0 Caledon Simpson
Oustia 2-0 Bromham City
Dereapolis City 0-4 Mercia Bromham
Leston Town 1-2 Avidia United

KFA CUP ROUND ONE
Ousevale Juniors may be riding high in Division One, bot they were laid low in the Cup courtesy of Byrrim - a whole two divisions below them. Surprise quarter-finalists from last season Locomotive Wolverton, meanwhile, are also in the hat for the next round after dumping out Kallia United.

Division One outfit Penniton United, meanwhile, might be one to avoid for the big fish. Just ask poor old Blakeland.

Caversham 3-0 Porthscadoch
Whitehill Rovers 1-1 CFF Monthuez (2-2 AET, 1-2 PKs)
Bohemians Tyfield 0-0 Burntlea United (0-1 AET)

Westleigh Athletic 2-0 Buchinia Academicals
Milditch 0-3 Buyon
Grafton Town 0-0 Cordell City (0-0 AET, 1-2 PKs)
Hefor 0-2 Wick Town

MATCHDAY 7
United stay top after beating an underperforming Mercia in their own backyard. Stanton, though, can only draw with Hastings "Here For The Beer" County and that allows Sandwell to go second. Ousevale, meanwhile, are quietly having a crisis, and their draw with Ashton means they're in seventh, behind the likes of Beckton and Dereapolis. Mon dieu.

Results:
Emberton Reds 3-1 Casuals Osteria
Stanton Town 1-1 Hastings County
Royal Emberton 2-4 Bradwell Saints
Avidia City 1-4 Beckton Supermarine
Ousevale Borough 1-1 Ashton Olympic
New Cefn Albion 0-1 Sandwell Rangers
Notegia Rangers 0-0 Oustia
Caledon Simpson 1-2 Dereapolis City
Bromham City 0-0 Leston Town
Mercia Bromham 1-3 Avidia United

MATCHDAY 8
Bromham City have the chance to heap a fresh wheelbarrow of misery on their cross-city rivals, and take it with both hands. The Navies are now behind Mercia "How Are We Thirteenth?" Bromham only on goal difference.

Think this is the biggest surprise of the week? Think again. Caledon decide to steal a point at the New City Stadium, and with Sandwell annihilating Avidia City, they go top of the table for the second time this season.

Oh, and Oustia beat Ousevale, so there's that, too.

Results:
Hastings County 1-2 Emberton Reds
Bradwell Saints 0-2 Casuals Osteria
Beckton Supermarine 1-2 Stanton Town
Ashton Olympic 6-0 Royal Emberton
Sandwell Rangers 5-1 Avidia City
Oustia 3-2 Ousevale Borough
Dereapolis City 1-0 New Cefn Albion
Leston Town 1-0 Notegia Rangers
Avidia United 1-1 Caledon Simpson
Mercia Bromham 1-2 Bromham City

MATCHDAY 9
Sandwell's reign at the top is short-lived, as Stanton take the position after dealing them a bit of a reality check at the Harbour Stadium. The same can't be said for Avidia United, who can only draw at bottom side New Cefn. Indeed, the point lifts Albion off the foot of the table at the expense of Notegia, who are unlucky not to claim a point off Mercia.

We'll mention very quietly that Emberton Reds are now second. Hide your choke buttons.

Results:
Emberton Reds 4-1 Bradwell Saints
Hastings County 0-1 Beckton Supermarine
Casuals Osteria 1-0 Ashton Olympic
Stanton Town 3-0 Sandwell Rangers
Royal Emberton 2-0 Oustia
Avidia City 4-0 Dereapolis City
Ousevale Borough 2-1 Leston Town
New Cefn Albion 2-2 Avidia United
Notegia Rangers 1-2 Mercia Bromham
Caledon Simpson 2-1 Bromham City

MATCHDAY 10
The Second City Derby was a match in the sense that two teams took to the field. In truth, City needn't have bothered, as they shipped nine to their rivals. It's enough to take second spot back off the Reds, who can only muster a draw at Orange Street, but not the lead in the division. That accolade goes to the defending champions thanks to a win over Dereapolis.

Ousevale, meanwhile, decide to get their season back on track by embarrassing their biggest rivals in the Mercian Classic. The steam coming out of new head of the family Alfie Swann's ears could power the Cygnus Stadium floodlights for a month.

Results:
Beckton Supermarine 1-1 Emberton Reds
Ashton Olympic 0-1 Bradwell Saints
Sandwell Rangers 0-0 Hastings County
Oustia 0-0 Casuals Osteria
Dereapolis City 0-3 Stanton Town
Leston Town 0-2 Royal Emberton
Avidia United 9-0 Avidia City
Mercia Bromham 0-3 Ousevale Borough
Bromham City 1-1 New Cefn Albion
Caledon Simpson 2-0 Notegia Rangers

Burdina Jauregia

The Burdina Jauregia, or Iron Palace in the local dialect, was finished just a few months before World Cup 75 and was used to host the opening match of the tournament as well as the fourth quarter-final, in which Audioslavia put five goals past Electrum.

The outer structure uses, as the name suggests, quite a lot of iron, if only for visual effect, and more modern materials are used the higher up the stadium you go. The ground's most noticeable feature is the criss-cross iron pattern over the roof, giving it the feel of an oversized implement from one of the Saw films when viewed from far away.

Inside, the pitch is large and surrounded on all sides by two tiered stands that rise up to the aforementioned grid. The seats, numerous and fairly luxurious as far as stadia go, are painted white in the colours of tenants KT Ferramendiak, who moved into the stadium at the end of World Cup 75. The stadium has played host to a Globe Cup final, which was a point of pride for club KT Ferramendiak, but only after arch city rivals KT Itzalovalle had been knocked out in the semi-finals of the very same tournament.

When the Arena Kirola was taken down to 78,000 seats for safety reasons, the Burdina Jauregia became the largest football stadium in Audioslavia.
Final Site Bid: Cup Winners’ Cup Final
Arena Kirola (also known as the 66 Stadium)
Capacity: 78,200
Cathair, Audioslavia
Built in time for World Cup 66, the Arena Kirola has been the home of Audioslavia's national football team for as long as most living Audioslavians can remember. There has been very little call for the national team to change grounds in the intervening years. A long, narrow pitch is perfectly suited to the counter-attacking football prefered by the national team, and tenants 1830 Cathair have adopted their own way of utilising the pitch's peculiar (but perfectly legal, we may add) dimensions.

The high, bright white walls that surround the pitch are iconic. Once upon a time electronic advertising boards were mounted on the walls, but that practice has been replaced by the simple act of selling an entire side of the stadium to one bidder each, who then creates a mural advertising their product. Sometimes this works, like when energy drink company Saltire created a series of artworks based on Audioslavia's two World Cup triumphs to adorn the wall opposite the hard camera before an international against Nephara. Sometimes it doesn't work so well. Take, for example, the thousand-burger-wrapper collage made by fast food chain 'O'Diamhnaghs' over the first half of 1830 Cathair's most recent season. For a UICA Champions' Cup Final, the FFA would give the most prominent wall over to TaqilQuip for whatever purpose they require, despite protestations from a Kirola company that was already miffed that their name was removed for the two previous finals held at the national stadium.

The 66 Stadium contains an array of amenities, from top quality restaurants to saunas, shops and supermarkets, to appease those sponsors that might only be traveling to the greatest club match in club football in order to network with their business buddies.

The stadium is getting on a bit, and as such the capacity has been lowered after renovations which converted the uppermost section of the top tier into higher-priced boxed seating.

Season 2^5

Preliminary rounds of things:

Zwangzug have accidentally-on-purpose become a bit of a bogey team for various and sundry FFI associations, mostly because we're the highest-ranked FFI association by some distance. Trimidau Rukiya of Poafmersia tried to join us rather than beat us by bringing Kelly Cormis and Nikolai Seabury on board, but their efforts would eventually see them overcome by Sporting Esper's away goals. Trebuchet Cham responded to being dumped out (poured out?) of the Challengers' Cup by defiantly muttering something about "well if it was a parallel universe we might have won," which didn't really impress anybody.

Matchday One

Say you're Einvarður Adamsson. You've just arrived from the Græntfjall league to Canbix Muses, which might be a bit of a step up in comparison. They hired you specifically because of your commitment to being rather on the defensive side. What do you do?

(Maia Cumple-Sead 2 and 72, Carole Hermann-Vedd 7 and 15, Retta Conrad 61, Craig Angeles 76, Nubara Moafalia 86; Ariel Greft 27, Moises Vegglio 29, Tammi Bilo-Stuhl 38 and 83, Ione Friede 64)

Well, apparently, that. Ephesian FC seven, Canbix Muses five. Welcome to the 1./.

Matchday Two

Arlington and Keppal are the two teams that start with two wins. Keppal had little trouble against Namiri Independent last week, or in Gelma, Glune District, home of the Glune Institute of Natural Sciences, for the Rovers' "home opener," this season. City are a bit more erratic, cruising against Cham last week but having to play catch-up against Eintracht Trink this time. Despite Sebastian Lowe's hat-trick, City came up with a second-half "Arlington hat trick," plus relied on goals from midfielders Junia McCue and substitute Paula Preckwinkle.

Matchday Three

Keppal go top, with Johan Idmar's strike just four minutes in enough to quiet Excelsior Slogda. To be fair, it doesn't take much to quiet Excelsior Slogda. This is their third one-nil defeat in as many weeks. I guess no one wants to get Aloysius Harrogate's heart rate too worked up.

Arlington, for their part, jumped out to a lead against Bassabook but then saw it wiped out by a Gordon Blum brace. Jonah McCollins' late header gave the Old Boys the win.

Matchday Four

Maybe Einvarður got worried about his job or something (he shouldn't, we're not vicious or capitalist enough to randomly fire people), because he well and truly parked the bus in Canbix for the last couple games. Today, in the bitter central derby against Keppal, was no different. Friede and Satenik Banach dispossessed each other in the midfield a bunch of times, the defenses dug in, and there was no score.

That meant that Bassabook could tie the Cosmos on 3.5 points, which they attempted to do through Amos Noile-Murne and Blum. Only an injury-time header from Biren Jaleel of Namiri Independent brought down the Old Boys' goal differential, meaning that Keppal technically hold the tiebreaker. Kaja Plin-Horge and 102d were the latest side to down Slogda 1-0.

Matchday Five

On current form, it feels hard not to imagine Blum and Idmar as racing each other to be Zwangzug's first-choice striker as well as dueling to lead their teams to the championship. This is an oversimplification, of course, but they both delivered one-nills against Sporting Esper and the Twineur Bugs respectively.

Excelsior Slogda aren't really helping their own cause; Trent Melchior committed a stupid foul that Spenson Suburbia stickler Javier Drouet was quick to protest, and Martin Ogilvie converted the penalty for the inevitable 1-0. Leah Strund wasn't going to let any contrived narrative shtick have the last word, though, and scored her own goal in the second half to make it 2-0. So...that's a change of pace, I guess.

Matchday Six

Bassabook's goal difference caught up to Keppal's, and this time, it wasn't the usual suspects making noise. Actually for Bassabook it kind of was, they have a lot of aging national team talent. Considering how the club struggled last season, it's anyone's guess how good Randall Saitta or McCollins or Noile-Murne will need to be to make it back to the national team at their various ages. Anyway, they all scored, as did the Rovers' Niels Jin-Kuang, when he wasn't giving one of his apologetics on Interreligious Sniping. For Keppal's part, they found goals from Jessalie McHove, Todd Rasmus, and Judith McCarver, while Kirsten Brennard and Edwin Cherenkov-Nguyen's goals weren't enough for hosts Cham to get it done.

Matchday Seven

Slogda scored a goal! Through Ivan Wexler-Dord. And then they promptly gave up a brace to Inez Torre, and Elena Drys-Weller converted a Jin-Kuang corner kick, so 3-1 Rovers then. Bassabook and Keppal each won by one goal, while Spenson and Cham thwapped 102d and Twineur respectively.

Meanwhile, elsewhere...

According to our comrades in Osarius we can do things approximately this way for a sense of drama and slight realism as we interweave the other competitions. Joke's on them because it's not like we're going to be doing this in much detail anyway. The "highlight" of the opening round of the group stage was Arlington City's Champions' League showing, which made it look like they really wanted to come third and go back to the Challengers' Cup which they know how to do well at. Little did they know that the two goals they scored in the Soldaduak Eremuaberria, through Rosalie Penn-Dayton and Vince Chandra, would turn out to matter. And then they went home to face the Anomalies and...the result was an anomaly.

Cereal Cup: First Round

Speaking of interweaving things to keep you on your toes...

Arlington City 2–0 Namiri Forest
Canbix Muses 1–1 Spenson Suburbia
Sporting Esper 1–1 Namiri Independent
Keppal Cosmos 2–0 102d Jr.s
Trebuchet Cham 2–1 FTC United
Ephesian FC 3–0 Twineur Bugs
Bassabook Old Boys 1–1 Rovers United
Eintracht Trink 2–0 Excelsior Slogda

Ephesian were the "big" winners, with Conrad's late goal adding onto those from Cumple-Sead and Angeles to make their win the most decisive. Spenson dominated the first half against Canbix, with Ogilvie perhaps unlucky not to get more than one goal from the prolific Strund's passes, but the momentum flipped in the second half, with Bilo-Stuhl scoring from distance and the Muses keeping Itzhak Canterbury on his toes as he denied them any further opportunities. Esper and Independent's draw by the same score was not as well-played; the hosts only got their goal through a Jake McWaive penalty after a stupid P.J. Raju foul on Nora Kent-Maner. Jaleel thought he'd equalized four minutes later, but it was offsides. Then he got a yellow card for raging against the video replay guy, which...what do you think was going to happen, it's not going to argue back, it's a robot. Anyway, Daitari Sastri somehow equalized for real against the run of play, but yeah, not a great game.

As for the other tie, while it featured some sloppy midfield play and the first half was dull, the second half was actually pretty decent. Blum was stymied by Tim Marley and Tessie Murdans on defense, but he finally managed to set up McCollins for a goal. But some beautiful dribbling from substitute Quincy Dulk-Fough paid off when he assisted Torre.

Matchday Eight

We now return you to "Slogda being kind of pants," already in progress. Blum had a brace for Bassabook within the first half-hour, and Roger Blairs would tak on another goal before halftime. Wexler-Dord had a few speculative chances in the second half, but apparently fate did not want him to score 100% of his team's goals in the first quarter-plus, because it would be Melchior who found the net. Shortly before Noile-Murne put Bassabook ahead by three again. So yeah.

As you may have gathered, Bassabook now have sole possession of first place, but that elides the fact that Keppal actually dropped a point too. Arlington may still be triaging how many fronts they want to fight on given the transitional generation, but they looked like champs at home, Penn-Dayton and Simon Osnes scoring before Idmar set up Satenik Banach for a quick tap-in.

Ephesian, hoping to maintain their momentum from the cup, took on the Oxen at home, and...

(Moafalia 49, Conrad 62, Angeles 70, Cumple-Sead 84, Marianne Ezekiel 86; Rhys Ford-Tropp 8 and 43, Becca Yontararak 10, Somyot Sutton 59, Naree Nagara 63 and 89)

Ephesian five, FTC United six. Okay.

Elsewhere

Canbix are cruising, defeating RGS Athletic 5-0 at home. Arlington returned to the Franz-Gorz-Stadion in Stelburg, which should certainly have brought back happy memories, and promptly played like a defensive team again. By which we mean drawing scorelessly. Halfway through the group stage and Laura Petrell looked like she wanted to duel somebody.

Matchday Nine

Keppal did their job perfunctorily, Rasmus' goal enough to put aside Sporting Esper. Bassabook...did not. By the time Pacia Flern put them on the scoreboard around the hour mark, Yontararak, Nagara and Shea Pescaux had scored for the Oxen. NaNa would add a second goal five minutes later, and almost got a hat-trick in added time before colliding with Saitta. So all tied on GD and stuff, then.

Speaking of collisions, the immovable force of Namiri Forest collided with the unstoppable object of Ephesian FC. Jahan Gurshasp, Forest's token striker, collected a brace, while collectivist (?) Ephesian got a couple chips from Ezekiel and Hermann-Vedd. It's early-ish still, but neither of these sides are happy with their positions.

Also, the immovable force of "Slogda being rubbish and very defensive, though not quite as defensive as Namiri Forest" ran into the, uh, also immovable force of "Canbix being disappointing and exactly as defensive as Einvarður was hired to be, which is less defensive than Slogda or Forest, but just as defensive as the Robins." And anyway, neither of them scored. But that means Slogda have a half-point now, so...yay?

Matchday Ten

Bassabook-Canbix isn't the fiercest rivalry in the league, it probably isn't even the fiercest rivalry involving Bassabook, but in terms of "getting fans to chang complex and vaguely offensive nonsense," it's up there. As importantly, the teams' trajectories have diverged in recent seasons; Bassabook were disappointed to miss out on international play last cycle and want to assert themselves as top of the pack now. Canbix were potentially overachievers by coming second last time, but entered this game tenth, and Einvarður must be anxious to silence those who considered him a cut below the 1./ elite.

Anyway, the match at Pacific Field mostly lived up to the billing. Blum opened the scoring off a McCollins pass in the 14th minute, and ten minutes later, Greft's cross was converted by Vegglio for the equalizer. Six minutes after halftime, a long pass from Saitta set up Mallie Roosevelt-Cun for the winning goal.

Which would have kept them tied with Keppal had the Cosmos won by a goal as well, which for most of the time in Zwischen it seemed like they were about to. Moafalia opened the scoring early for the hosts, but Keppal jumped back quickly through McCarver and McHove. (A good day for the Bigtopian diaspora, I guess.)

And then in added time, Zane Davis' foul needlessly brought down Hermann-Vedd, who seemed to find the resultant penalty distasteful, but not distasteful enough to miss. Die by the sword, and sometimes, live by the sword.

Matchday Eleven

Bassabook and Keppal aren't going to play each other for another couple rounds, so we can't compare them directly. What we can do, however, is play the nontransivity game of "well X beat Y and Y beat Z so therefore, X is probably better than Z until proven otherwise, QED." At any rate, Keppal fans will be doing so, after they had no trouble defeating FTC United thanks to a Banach goal. Bassabook draw level with them again, held to a draw by stultifying Forest. Gurhasp scored the hosts' only goal, after a long pass from Kausalya Vizirani, and Noile-Murne came up with an equalizer against the run of play. Forest actually controlled possession a lot of the game, but never really seemed interested in mounting an attack. But hey, they play Keppal Cosmos next round, so we can keep going with the nontransivity silliness!

But first...

Around and about

Keppal Cosmos haven't been having a great Challengers' Cup so far, but they salvage some pride by defeating the "Chessmen" of Altendalur at Ayathen Arena. Meanwhile, the FFI group stages are getting underway, featuring, um, five Zwangzug teams between them. Maybe the other associations are getting sick of us. Or maybe they figure we'll be stymied by a failure to actually speak Portuguese. Arlington get off to a bang by annihilating Daunt's Den in Quagpire, which suggests the former.

Matchday Twelve

Twineur attain their first draw of the season, which isn't really an achievement, but appeared to be an upset against favorites Bassabook. Pamela Norton got the visitors off to a quick start off a pass from Cedric Varmanov, but Bassabook asserted themselves through Flern and Blairs before the first half was out. The Bugs pushed the tempo in the second half, however, as they are wont to do, and Aimee Ginoud-Sachs capitalized with the equalizer, as she is...she's not wont to do anything, whoever heard of Aimee Ginoud-Sachs. Anyway, Keppal also took advantage of the situation, by defeating Namiri Forest thanks to a McHove set piece. Happily, Bassabook and Keppal are going to play each other soon, so we can skip the nontransitivity silliness. But not before...

Group stage wrap-up

Arlington avenge their defeat against Anomalies, while nervously scoreboard-watching the somewhat anticlimactic Izotz Zubiz/Teussen Stelburg game, despite Petrell's grumpiness that they're not really good enough to be scoreboard-watching on current form, and somehow top the group. Einvarður's return to Græntfjall is fortuitous kind of like his current tenure in the league is...not, and the Muses cruise through undefeated.

Matchday Thirteen

Okay, so--

(McCollins 5)

Keppal Cosmos 0, Bassabook Old Boys 1.

Football is a discrete sport; part of the reason there are so many draws is because there aren't very many scoring opportunities over the course of ninety minutes. That's not to say that in something like basketball, the better team will always win or always need regulation to get it done--but there are enough shots and baskets that just looking at those gives you a pretty clear overview of what happened.

Today? Bassabook took the lead; then they didn't seem to try very hard to add a second. Of course, the pedometers and TV approximations will tell a more detailed story of how far Saitta and Roosevelt-Cun and Blum ran up and down the field, intercepting passes, blocking Cosmos attacks, staying onside. But to what end?

Keppal were spurred on to a more attacking approach than they were happy with. But then, it's not as if they'd have been completely lifeless if they'd taken the lead, they would have kept moving and looking for opportunities. And they certainly know how to string together a series of passes to give Idmar a shot. Possibly Banach ate one too many pies, or possibly Davis was listless with worry about his compatriots. Or maybe Ayathen Arena is cursed. Someone somewhere can probably give more scintillating commentary about the other eighty-five minutes, but that person is not me. I mean, it is kind of my job, but...only kind of.

Matchday Fourteen

When Arlington-Canbix were drawn together for the penultimate match of each half, some schedulemakers were probably intrigued. Again, not me, but someone. With those two coming one-two last time, nearly-halfway might be a good chance to see how their campaigns are faring.

The answer is, in Canbix' case, "really not great," and in Arlington's, "which campaigns, can you be more specific?" as they bounce between the Champions' League and the LdV and so forth. They haven't been too far off the pace, in fairness, just not the ones setting it either.

Anyway, Canbix decided they actually did want to attack, and Bilo-Stuhl got them off to a quick lead in the sixth minute. They kept trying to control possession, with the Arlington midfield spread thin trying to establish a footing in both ends. The Muses' hustle would pay off with a Greft goal in minute 40.

Halftime featured either a really good pep talk from Twoni, or, more likely, Arlington taking a breather and mentally resetting. They came out strong, seeming to enjoy themselves with crisper and more accurate midfield passes. It built up to a Chandra goal twelve minutes in, and then Penn-Dayton equalized almost right after the restart. Canbix kicked their speed and distaste for time-wasting into high gear, but despite a frenetic last half-hour, there was no further scoring.

So the upshot is that Canbix are still annoyed and Bassabook and Keppal have a little more breathing room above Arlington in third, because both of the leaders won. Bassabook-Cham featured four different national teamers scoring in Blum, Noile-Murne, McCollins, and Cherenkov-Nguyen; Keppal-102d featured zero, in McCarver, Joyce Tiermon (Keppal), and Murphy Drad-Ikey (102d). Mind you, we don't currently have any of our national teamers playing for 102d, since Lissa Crain left and all. But speaking of 102d, well...

ye olde third matchday of ye olde ffi tournaments

No, we're not going to do this, I want to talk about 102d Jr.s now.

Thanks.

Matchday Fifteen

For the last four seasons, the same five teams have finished in the bottom five positions in some order; 102d Jr.s, FTC United, Twineur Bugs, Rovers United, and Excelsior Slogda. Even though there's been some turnover on the top, and different amounts of international places to fight for in the middle, the bottom are still the bottom. Halfway through this season, two of these also-rans are on pace to break out of the quagmire; FTC and 102d sit 10th and 11th respectively, with both Namiris underneath them. We don't know if it'll last, but who knows, maybe the other bottom teams will see success for one as a sign that anyone can do it. Oh, who am I kidding, they'll all be clawing over each other for scraps, our league is zero-sum. Really. More so than most of yours.

Anyway, 102d had perhaps one of their more important showdowns of the season, given that they weren't expected to be in contention for anything: their home game against archrivals Bassabook. Table-topping archrivals Bassabook, no less. And...well, the visiting fans were technically still singing by the end, but dirges of lamentation mixed with relief that Keppal hadn't managed to win earlier. Maybe Fuake Nokochósal has gotten over the language barrier by now, or maybe he was able to mark Blum without help from fellow defenders. Drad-Ikey and Tianming Sun both scored in the first half, and in the second...well, Fedya Troy-Vee headed it into his own goal like a fool, so technically it finished 2-1. Scoring more for Bassabook than Bassabook score for themselves is sort of a quintessential 102d Jr.s mental image, but they'll take it!

As for Keppal, they drew scorelessly in Spenson (Fulpog), so they trail Bassabook by one goal of difference as the half comes to an end. Arlington are a half-point behind; they defeated Twineur comfortably behind goals from Osnes and Twoni, and they actually have a better goal differential than either of the leaders. Esper, Trink, and Cham would qualify for the Challengers' Cup on current form.

As for Canbix and Ephesian, after their whirlwind start, they now sit eighth and in a multi-way tie for ninth respectively; both with as many goals for as against. For Canbix, fifteen (yes, that means that almost half their concessions so far came on that first day alone); for Ephesian, forty. Live by the somethingsomethingsomething.

Cereal Cup: Second Round

Ephesian FC 2–1 Arlington City
Keppal Cosmos 4–3 Eintracht Trink
Trebuchet Cham 3–4 Canbix Muses
Sporting Esper 1–0 Bassabook Old Boys
Spenson Suburbia 4–3 Namiri Independent
Rovers United 6–2 FTC United
Namiri Forest 1–0 102d Jr.s
Excelsior Slogda 0–1 Twineur Bugs

Arlington fans will probably write the northeastern derby off as a case of "Arlington have better stuff to focus on right now, Ephesian don't." This isn't really fair; both teams seemed to want it pretty intensely in the first half, with Hermann-Vedd and Chandra scoring in quick succession. When a fluky chip from Moafalia found the net early in the second half, however, City's wheels seemed to come off a little; only some impressive pace and effort from Jenna Kowalski on defense kept them in the game for the next half hour. The final ten minutes were kind of chaotic and messy as both sides succumbed to "we really need more people on defense, whatever we call them" exhaustion.

But perhaps the real story was in Kerlagrad (the "our home games are in your other home field" nonsense agreement doesn't apply to cups with their weird scheduling), in the battle of the two Uniteds. While NaNa and Pescaux's goals delighted the...other visiting fans, the Rovers were dominant in a true team effort. Six different players scored: Jin-Kuang, Drys-Weller, Torre, Dulk-Fough, Rowan Singh, and Jill McFoun. They haven't put up this many goals since season 27 in the league against Ephesian, which was way back when the dead people were alive, and stuff. I mean...there are probably a bunch of people who were alive then who are dead now. Population growth and the passage of time being what they are. It's just...oh, forget it, we're not any good at this whole memorializing thing. Dreary narrative or no dreary narrative, these Rovers might be for real. Or they might be taking advantage of this tournament's small sample size. Or they might be inspired by the Oxen and Whiz Kids to climb out of the bottom half themselves. Who can say?

Apparently there's some kind of a winter break about now

Joke's on you, we never sleep. Time is a mirage. I mean, less so than nationalism, but like...

The FFI tournaments are probably still going on

Ever-so-slightly piqued that the Rovers are doing that "eh we probably shouldn't be this attacking but who cares, everyone can score" thing better than they themselves are, Arlington double their "hat trick" with each forward scoring twice against the Tōkuriko Interceptees Passers. Woot.

Matchday Sixteen

Namiri Independent weren't really contenders with Sophie Munshi. Without her, they're now fifteenth. Which didn't stop them from defeating Keppal, behind a goal from Sastri.

Bassabook and Arlington took advantage by defeating Trink and Cham respectively. City had the easier job, with Penn-Dayton giving them an early lead and duly adding insurance, before Brennard headed in a Cherenkov-Nguyen corner kick. The Old Boys had to hustle to cancel out goals from Hanna Suzuki and Helmut Fischbach, but Roosevelt-Cun's 81st-minute goal finally delivered them the lead.

The Canbix-Ephesian rematch was somewhat more sedate, with "only" five goals between them; Ephesian triumphed 3-2, with Cumple-Sead scoring another brace.

Matchday Seventeen

Bassabook had little trouble in Fulpog, with Noile-Murne and Saitta's goals stifling the Suburbians. But Keppal and Arlington had just as easy a time with it. The Rovers' cup excitement doesn't seem to be translating into their league form, as Banach, Idmar, and McHove made short work of Hallam Vengor and the Rovers' unsteady defense. Arlington had had defensive wobbles against Trink in the first leg, but were able to limit the visitors to a Fischbach header, while they scored a hat trick and even Riley Kivrin found the net.

Canbix, who have a busy week (?) or so ahead, took a little risk playing the kids in the FTC but it paid off, with youngster Devin O'Shea scoring the only goal on the east side.

Around and about

The Muses senior team lost the first leg to Sanctuary, and couldn't even muster up any of those useful away goals. They weren't any good against Megabrantid in the LdV either. Their fans will point out that Megabrantid are quite strong at the moment but...still.

Matchday Eighteen

Keppal got a boost to their GD by heading down to Slogda, who are still looking for a win. Well, "looking" kind of implies that they're actively searching and putting effort into it, and even this might be an exaggeration for Harrogate's, uh, increasingly harrowed side. Anyway, Rasmus, McCarver, and Carly Hayes-Clevel would all score for the visitors.

But the match to watch was down in Bassabook, where Arlington ventured in hopes of overtaking the Old Boys. For the first half, the hosts controlled attack and most of the midfield, only a sparkling performance from Celeste Fahrenthold keeping it level. Five minutes after the restart, though, Vince Chandra tapped in a Penn-Dayton cross for the visitors, and the pace slackened from both sides. Kowalski and Sydney Stefred cleared out the remaining tepid challenges, and Arlington held on to take the lead by a half point.

Midweek madness

Canbix drop out of the Challengers' Cup. Then they drop out of the TdC, which is a little more embarrassing because our other four sides all advanced in the FFI stuff. Arlington navigate past Admiral Storevik in the Champions' League, and dare to start pondering big questions. Like, how are they going to come up with a pregame entrance song that competes with Raynor City? Those guys are hard to beat.

Matchday Nineteen

Namiri Independent weren't really contenders with Sophie Munshi. Without her, they--didn't we just do this? Well, okay, now they're eleventh, having gotten there by upsetting Bassabook. It's probably a fool's errand to ascribe this to "momentum" when there are a bunch of ongoing competitions and a bunch of time between them, but then again, some of us are fools. Which is to say, the Baritone writers seemed to portray it as "more of the same deflated listlessness we saw in the second half last week" as Raju and Vipul Ericson scored. McCollins did pull the hosts back in it, but Blum's would-be equalizer was offsides.

Keppal won their local rivalry against Canbix behind a Rasmus chip, and Arlington defeated Sporting Esper by equal margins, Osnes' goal the only one in that encounter. For a team that also made the Champions' League last season, Esper seem a bit anonymous in mid-table right now. I mean, not literally, they have people playing for them. People with names like Kent-Maner and Allison Levi-Gold and Tommy Semperi. Just kinda mediocre, and not in a "we can blame it on the new manager" way.

Matchday Twenty

Ephesian's surprisingly durable defense in the northeastern derby allowed Keppal to--look, we don't care about that right now, because Slogda have at last notched their first victory of the Harrogate era. Wexler-Dord's third-minute goal gave them a lead against Spenson, and Alaisti were more than happy to park the train.

Anyway. Ephesian took a lead through Conrad, Arlington equalized through Preckwinkle, they had plenty of other chances, but Ephesian somehow...defended them...almost like a normal football team. It was pretty neat. This allowed the Cosmos to tie City on points, through an Idmar strike in minute 45+3. The host Twineur Bugs were aggrieved about this, mostly aggrieved that Keppal had successfully stalled and dragged out throw-ins in the first half long enough for the referee to add four minutes in the first place. The Old Boys continue to look...old (to be fair, McCollins can't be much younger than Twoni or Stefred). Today they failed to keep up with Sporting Esper, who are now exactly tied with the Muses for the last Challengers' place. They ground out a scoreless draw on Matchday Fifteen, so that could be something to watch on the final day depending on what is/isn't resolved by then.

Matchday Twenty-One

Are the Oxen for real? It's relative, of course, for them "making it out of the bottom five" might be considered reality. But they looked great today, with Sutton and Yontararak's goals enough to shut out Arlington. Bassabook continue to fade, with Torre and Drys-Weller's goals making up for Flern's opener. The press is split between "Bassabook are too old and past it" and "the Rovers are able to fight on two fronts, they've forged a cohesive unit together." Part of the problem is that a bunch of the places that don't have their own football side sort of have to at least know the Rovers because they might play at home there, so they sort of are able to become everyone's second team in the way that Independent once tried to and...kinda failed at. But then, again, the Rovers would be first to push back against forcing a narrative.

This meant that even a draw would have been enough to put Keppal in first outright, but, uh...

(Tiermon 4, Idmar 22, Davis 47, McHove 51; Cherenkov-Nguyen 34 and 36, Marie Wien 55, Jackson Ipsen 71, Peter Rudovich 81)

Keppal Cosmos four, Trebuchet Cham five.

Some people say success is like trains, you wait a long time and then a bunch come at once. Except our rail network is state-of-the-art and wired to take delays into account. So really this metaphor shouldn't be a thing. Um. The point is, Slogda actually won again. Pretty convincingly, too; 3-0 away! Melchior scored a brace, and Evgeny Rivlute got on the board against Namiri Independent.

Meanwhile

Spenson take a slim lead against Dalaris City, but come on, the Poafmersians are trembling in their cleats at us, what could happen. Actually it was a pretty good week all-around in the FFI.

Matchday Twenty-Two

You can't accuse the 102d Jr.s of not trying. They struggled and exerted themselves against Cham, with Sun and Arturo Jaccard scoring, but fell short; Ipsen registered a brace and Kayla Haugen converted a long-range pass from Nokochósal.

Their disappointment is, shall we say, tapered, though, because this result saw Cham surpass Bassabook on GD for the third Champions' League spot. The Old Boys lost 2-0 to goals from Angeles and Jaclyn Burkhart of Ephesian. A pair of two-goal wins for City and Keppal means there's no change at the top, though.

Champions' League

So. As far as our clubs go, some of their fanbases are very cohesive and some are more fragmented. If you're a Sporting Esper fan, for instance, you probably live in the Hope City area. There aren't a whole lot of barnstormers attracted to their cause just cause they play kinda defensively, and half of those people are gonna wind up rooting for Canbix anyway. On the other hand, if you're rooting for Ephesian, maybe it's because you're actually from the capital. Or maybe you really love system takil. Or maybe you like communistic equal distribution of responsbilities. Or naming your clubs after Biblical epistles. Some of these groups don't even necessarily get along with each other.

Arlington City are somewhere in between. Sure, there's tension between the archivist nerds and Stefred, but she isn't really a faction. They haven't been much for the internecine conflict. Except...well, some of them like long, rambly, blues-ish genre songs talking about their long and now suddenly storied history. Others, they like peppy pop music that can get you fired up for a game. And when the former Rockers decided that they were going to intimidate opponents with their rocking-ness, Arlington fans decided that they want a pregame song too. And apparently, the long rambly blues fans hate this level of cheesiness, singability, and pandering to the contemporary crowd, because how dare you. Even if they're literally by the exact same composer. Anyway, this conflict distracted from the fact that RCU won the first leg here and are expected to defend the lead in their home park.

Cereal Cup: Third Round

Ephesian FC 2–0 Keppal Cosmos
Rovers United 0–0 Canbix Muses
Spenson Suburbia 2–2 Sporting Esper
Arlington City 2–0 Eintracht Trink
Namiri Forest 2–2 Trebuchet Cham
Twineur Bugs 3–3 Bassabook Old Boys
Namiri Independent 3–2 102d Jr.s
FTC United 0–1 Excelsior Slogda

The nice thing about doing things in this order is that you can try to force a narrative about "Keppal were distracted because they were contending for the league title." The bad thing about doing things in this order is that you probably shouldn't do that. There were moments of individual skill from both sides, but in the end Ephesian were persistent and their attacks gradually wore down the Keppal midfield, paying dividends with a goal from Cumple-Sead and then a quick follow-up from Ezekiel. The Canbix-Rovers game was better than it looked given that the Muses are underperforming, and the Rovers being terrible as expected, in the league. An aging Marley at the back still has excellent endurance, and Banach was in fit enough shape that she could put up with grueling tackles from the likes of McFoun and Josephine Tell-Diri.

Matchday Twenty-Three

The Rovers were "home" in Holltor District against Canbix, and the scoreless draw was better than it looked given that--hey.

No, wait, apparently this happened again. The amusing upside of interweaving the Cup games in, I guess.

But the real central excitement was at home in Keppal, where the Cosmos defeated Arlington 2-1. Idmar and McHove teamed up for a couple goals in the first half; in added time, Stefred blasted in a long-range shot that didn't make a difference in the result, but means that the overall goal difference and head-to-head tiebreakers are even. (Keppal, of course, are up by a full point outright.)

Bassabook finally halted their slide, and in style too, slotting six goals past an apathetic Slogda. But if they want to catch Arlington or Keppal, they need to move fast. It's hard not to draw comparisons to Brandon Sonnabend; Nathaniel Daley may have been too sanguine about playing all the regulars and not giving them time off during the early weeks, because they look pretty tired now.

International stuff

Spenson lose out in the LdV, Arlington don't, Bassabook advance in the TdC, Sporting Esper do the same despite appearing to have defected to Poafmersia for some reason. Raynor City hold onto their lead against Arlington, who will now attempt to focus on the league. Probably. Who knows.

Matchday Twenty-Four

Bassabook's hopes got a couple boosts as the gaps closed at the top. First off, they managed what Arlington could not a couple weeks ago in defeating the Oxen. Benchwarmer Wallace Nittany gave the Old Boys an early lead, with Blum semi-reliably adding on near the half-hour mark. Glen Woodrull scored to open the second half, and then Pesceaux and Nagara tried to repeat their first-leg heroics and scored to make the game interesting. But Nittany would add a second in minute 74 to stop the rally.

Next, the Robins would defeat Keppal. Ernest Chysel-Pront of Sporting Esper isn't the most authoritarian manager in the league, but one gets the sense he's looking for unconventional ways to keep his side motivated in the Challengers' League hunt. They were surprisingly hard-tackling, and perhaps Levi-Gold got away with a foul or two against the unsteady Banach, but either way, Idmar's was the only goal for the visitors, and Semperi and Greg Wilson-Morro's goals gave Esper the win.

Thirdly, Arlington City were shut out...and a goal from Drad-Ikey gave 102d the win. Live by spite, die by spite. These metaphors are kinda dark. Eh, maybe I'll come up with something else.

Matchday Twenty-Five

Bassabook get held to a scoreless draw by a Canbix side who, in fairness, are still in Challengers' Cup contention. Trebuchet Cham take full advantage, with Wien, Rudovich, and Ipsen all scoring against a halfhearted Rovers side who are mostly looking forward to the Cereal Cup finale. Arlington renew acquaintances with old rivals Spenson (they're not really, Spenson weren't good back in the day and aren't tremendous now, but we're supposed to keep banging that drum because ~history or something), Chandra and Twoni scoring in another shutout. And Keppal...get a brace through Idmar, but to no avail. Ephesian are happy to take their time before the Cereal Cup comes around; Burkhart, Conrad, Moafalia, and Hermann-Vedd all found the net. The upshot is that Arlington are first, Keppal four goals back, Cham a point and a half behind them, and Bassabook two goals behind that.

FFI...stuff?

Uh, so apparently us independents take our league competitions very seriously, because we have...a whole extra round that those AO posers don't. Which means we can skim over things because I'm not going to go into detail anyway rejigger the calendar appropriately. Annnnyway, in a matchup of recent and soon-to-be Challengers' Cup winners, Arlington wait till their trip to the Remnant States before surging ahead, while Esper and Bassabook continue fending off all comers.

Matchday Twenty-Six

Arlington and Cham played like they care about goal difference tiebreakers, and/or had unthreatening opposition, sweeping aside Namiri Independent and Slogda respectively. Minimalist Keppal were unperturbed that Hayes-Clevel's goal was the only one against the Oxen. Bassabook, despite their grinding, could only muster one Roosevelt-Cun goal against Namiri Forest, who duly equalized through Gurshasp.

Matchday Twenty-Seven

So much for momentum. Cham are defeated by the Muses, with Ipsen and Rolf Ronake-Daste's goals insufficient in the face of, um, a Bilo-Stuhl hat trick. Arlington are held to a draw with their onetime MUFN championship rivals, Rovers United. (This is a stretch but I'll allow it.) Torre and Drys-Weller gave the "hosts" the lead in Marsey, but Osnes would score on either side of half-time, and Shirin Polvino-Mame gave Arlington a brief lead. Only to see it undone by Jin-Kuang. Technically it's an "Arlington hat trick" for the Rovers, then, who despite all the excitement are...still fifteenth.

Bassabook are able to win, however. Varmanov gave hosts Twineur an early lead, but Blum would record a hat-trick...of assists, to McCollins, Flern, and Woodrull. Meaghan Harris' dizzying run in minute 75 culminated in a consolation goal for the Bugs, but the defense held on despite Saitta unhelpfully picking up a second yellow with three minutes left. Keppal took an early lead through Tiermon, and then surprisingly blew it. Mostly surprising in that a defender from Forest, namely Govind Bannerjee, made it all the way to the goalnet for the tap-in. Anyway, Arlington lead Keppal by seven goals now.

So apparently

The TdC final is going to be an all-1./ affair! Bassabook proposed, with a straight face, that we should just have it here, definitely in the interests of saving money and avoiding pollution and not at all because they're skittish around foreigners and can't spell Trzebiegoszcz. The look on Namiri Forest's face when they realized Bassabook may have been less than sincere in this suggestion was amazing, though.

Matchday Twenty-Eight

Cham make it look easy against Twineur...but it's not enough to keep them in contention, as Arlington also make it look easy against Slogda (to be fair, it usually is easy against Slogda), and eliminate them from contention. Still, the Cabbas remain in Champions' League contention, and one suspects they might be happy with that once the dust settles.

In the Bassabook-Keppal game last time around, McCollins' early goal was the only calculable action, even if most of the game was taut and hard to assess. This time, the visiting Cosmos seemed in control for the first half-hour, and they made it count with a goal from Idmar. Shortly after halftime, McCarver would strike to double their lead and possibly let them daydream about the GD column.

There's a truism about 2-0 leads being dangerous or something that doesn't really make sense. Me, I don't care enough about football to believe it's a thing. What I do know is that three minutes later, McCollins scored, and the home chants didn't let up. They propelled the Old Boys on and...okay this is probably also a stupid cliche, but in this case, it might be accurate. Eventually Roosevelt-Cun tied it up. But then, despite both sides throwing caution to the wind and looking for a breakthrough in the final moments, nothing more happened. This means that Bassabook, too, are out of the title chase, and Keppal remain a half-point behind Arlington with two matches to play. Say what you will of blues versus pop fans, can you imagine if Arlington back into a threepeat after having casually let Keppal and Bassabook duke it out all season? After building their "lovable, or at least fairly representative, losers" narrative on the back of all those losing seasons? Now that could cause a schism.

But speaking of fairly iconic losers...

Matchday Twenty-Nine

We've been a little hard on Canbix, so it's important to note that they still have a Challengers' Cup place to fight for. They entered the penultimate round in front of Ephesian. Ephesian increased the pressure by winning 1-4 away this round, with braces from Hermann-Vedd and Angeles drowning out McFoun's long chip for Rovers' United. (This doesn't really bode well for the latter's underdog narrative in the pending Cereal Cup finale.) Canbix responded by parking the train and shutting out Arlington, thus giving Keppal a chance to take the lead. All they had to do was take the lead, which Rasmus gave them, and then hold it against 102d. So of course, Plin-Horge scored in minute 87 to equalize.

We'd ask how Bassabook feel about this, but they're still stinging from a Haugen goal which helps solidify Cham's hold on third.

Anyway. 102d are eighth now! In fact, they've clinched at least eighth place, since Forest can't catch them next week. Which means that they will finish in the top half for the first time since...uh...well, since season two. Who needs City.

Matchday Thirty

None of this reverse-chronology nonsense. We are a serious publication. By that I mean, more serious than the Kerlagrad Courier's official Blatter account. That's not saying much.

12': Goal for Noile-Murne and Bassabook! The Old Boys have the potential to pass up Cham for third place, but it would require a win, Cham losing to Trink, and a whole lot of GD fluctuation. Despite the jubilant mood that 102d are in for securing a place in the top half, they'll be showing no mercy to Bassabook, of course.

16': Goal for Burkhart and Ephesian! This helps hold them ahead of Canbix. Of course, Ephesian are playing Slogda, so there could be plenty more chances to run up the score.

24': In the not-very-anticipated battle of the Uniteds, Ford-Tropp puts FTC ahead over the Rovers.

26': Goal for Penn-Dayton and Arlington! That's the start they wanted, it means they can afford to ignore the results of the Keppal game. And hang on, let's go to Trink...

27': Well then. Lowe scores for Trink, giving them the lead against Cham. But before the Bassabook fans have time to start cheering when they see that on the videoboard, Wien equalizes from the restart.

35': Semperi scores for Esper against the Muses. These two are pretty much facing off for the last Challengers' spot. I guess there's an extremely fringe chance they could both make it if Slogda somehow annihilate Ephesian. Not that Ephesian can't be annihilated sometimes, but...probably not by Slogda.

41': Brennard puts Cham ahead against Trink. Bassabook fans are slightly disappointed, but most of them are busy thinking up rude rhymes for "Nokochósal."

45': Well this has been a vaguely interesting first half. I mean it's always vaguely interesting when there's still so much to play for here, but--oh hang on.

45+1': Goal for Strund in Spenson, and the Cosmos fall further behind. This could wind up being a super-backhanded coronation for Petrell's eleven after all.

45+2': I know there's like twenty-three of them, XI looks weird. Can it be halftime now. Thanks.

52': Goal for Jens Ennie and Trink. This would be a little exciting if Bassabook were successfully attacking. As it is, Blum suddenly looks like he's caught in the "oh no what if I score too many goals because I'm the only starting forward whose name people know and that is bad for some reason" dilemma. Come on.

54': You know who doesn't care about the aforementioned dilemma? Gurshasp, who scores against his cross-district rivals Independent, that's who. 102d's leaps and bounds mean that Independent are the new denizens of the once-stagnant "bottom five." Hopefully (?) things will continue to vary due to the vicissitudes of randomness. Although hopefully (?) not too much.

63': Rudovich pulls the Cabbas ahead again.

68': Suzuki blasts one into the side of the net for Trink, and Fischbach scores off the restart! Well, at least one game has plenty of offense, even if it's probably not going to make a difference in Bassabook's seeding.

71': Ohhh here we go, Banach ties it for Keppal! ...And Ogilvie gives Spenson the lead right back. Well.

90': I mean I'll say this for Petrell, she does know how to pull together the established stars and the younger generation to...you know...harmonize, and stuff. I guess that's really more of an allegory they try to force in Trink, but ssh. It's nice to see her recognized anyway.

The 4th Taça das Confederações Final

It wouldn't be fair to characterize Sporting Esper as having nothing else to worry about this season; they made it to the playoff round of the Champions' Cup before running into the Capetown Crocs (could be worse...could be alligators), and needed all season to clinch a place in the top six, by narrow margins at that. Still, they weren't embattled in the title race, or indeed the squabbling over which associations are too bleeping hippie to host important tournaments, to the extent that Bassabook were. And Chysel-Pront seemed to be able to relax today and let the stakes of the occasion be enough to motivate his side. Morro-Wilson scored the opener on eleven minutes, and Kent-Maner made it two-nil twenty-three minutes later. The Old Boys briefly rallied to open the second half, with Flern tapping in a cross from McCollins, but a Saitta foul on Levi-Gold would leave Semperi clear for a free kick, which Lucia Vazzi tapped in.

Cereal Cup: Fourth Round

Rovers United 4–2 Ephesian FC
Canbix Muses 1–1 Arlington City
Sporting Esper 2–0 Keppal Cosmos
Spenson Suburbia 1–3 Trebuchet Cham
Namiri Independent 0–0 Namiri Forest
Twineur Bugs 0–1 Eintracht Trink
Bassabook Old Boys 2–0 Excelsior Slogda
102d Jr.s 1–2 FTC United

Ephesian, being the only team to have won all three of their earlier matches, might have some small right to declare themselves champions by fiat and dispense with the need for a fourth round. They were fifth in the league, however, which means that even if the VCIAPP gets back on schedule, they're not eligible to qualify. So we would need another team anyway, tiebreakers and all. Fortunately, they deigned to play the last game instead of crossing their arms and huffing. (I mean, Ephesian FC don't really have a lot of standing for complaining about a system being silly, but you never know with some people.) More fortunately, the emergent champion led both on goal difference and, naturally, head-to-head. Best of all for neutrals following along and trying to force narratives, well...

What can be said about this exuberant young Rovers United side? "Young" is perhaps a misnomer; they're variously comprised of precocious benchwarmers and starters haggard-beyond-their-years. Except, no one really knows what those years are.

Due to intricate arithmetical jiggery-pokery, mainly boiling down to the fact that Ephesian got to be at home in the first round as high seeds and the Rovers did not, the latter had the privilege of being "home" seeded here. In an exceptional display of chutzpah, they arranged to play at Wayr Stadium, site of the decreasingly-recent Proceedings. I mean, they would have the benefit of familiarity, but still.

And then three minutes in, Quincy Dulk-Fough wrong-footed in a slick pass from Shirley Bao, and Bronwyn Sadler looked like a genius. Granted she wasn't really around for the crucible, but still. Drys-Weller added a brace before the half was out. Ephesian came out fighting in the second half, with Angeles and Cumple-Sead scoring, and perhaps they were seeking a third in the hopes of playing for a draw (inasmuch they ever really do that). Instead, it was Jin-Kuang whose thunderous blast added on. He's been working on a new goal celebration that honors his teammates past and present without being all dark about it, but we didn't really get a chance to see it because said teammates dogpiled him. The present ones. Not the past ones. Probably.

Because it might matter to someone, somewhere, and it gives us an excuse to work on the wiki; Hassench College is located in Honeheli, a suburb of Mockba, in Nauthron District. Their mascot is the Brethren (even the female ones), and they are known for their performing arts programs. Wawen College can be found in Hautdesert, the second city of Xander District. Their mascot is the Crusaders (where and why, we don't know), and their strongest programs are in literature and history. The Sparks--look, it's a long story. Maybe someday.

Zwangzug (ZWZ) final site bids
Challengers' Cup: ZS^3, Zwischen
The full name is Zwischen Soccer-Specific Stadium, although most fans call it football, we just like the acronym. Visitor attractions in our capital include the "Ziggurat," the former government headquarters and occasional scene of inter-parliament strife. Their favorite board game is The Resistance.

Taça das Confederações: Merle Park, Alden (near Hope City)
Zwangzug's Hope City (cities with similar names being comparatively prevalent throughout the multiverse) is certainly its clearest example of grandiose planning. The original streets formed a circular pattern with the main hubs emanating from City Hall. The modern conversion to a predominantly train-based system of transportation may have reduced travel times, but provoked much grousing at the loss of charm. Makes for good tourism, though. Because there wasn't really a great place to build a football stadium in the middle of the circular design, Sporting Esper play their home games in the suburb of Alden. Hope City's favorite board game is Communist Poker.

O-LEAGUE : SEASON XVIII - PART TWO

MATCHDAY 11
It's not a good day to be a fan of teams from the Mercian capital. Mercia Bromham can only muster a single point at Oxley Park - and at this point it's worth noting these two supposed heavyweights are twelfth and thirteenth - but it's better than the Navies can manage, as they're put to the sword by Avidia City of all teams.

At the top, meanwhile, Stanton and Avidia United share the spoils, the Reds do what they do best and choke a golden opportunity at home to Ashton, and that allows Ousevale and Beckton to make up ground.

Hang on, Beckton???

Results:
Emberton Reds 0-2 Ashton Olympic
Beckton Supermarine 2-0 Sandwell Rangers
Bradwell Saints 0-0 Oustia
Hastings County 1-1 Dereapolis City
Casuals Osteria 1-0 Leston Town
Stanton Town 1-1 Avidia United
Royal Emberton 3-3 Mercia Bromham
Avidia City 6-2 Bromham City
Ousevale Borough 3-1 Caledon Simpson
New Cefn Albion 1-0 Notegia Rangers

MATCHDAY 12
Goals all over the place here. Ashton and Oustia muster eight between them, Avidia United and Hastings seven, and whilst there's "only" five goals at Parc Abertawy, the greedy Tigers scored all of them. Sandwell, meanwhile, are beginning to slip down the table, but their one-all draw with Emberton Reds means they're not travelling alone.

Results:
Sandwell Rangers 1-1 Emberton Reds
Oustia 3-5 Ashton Olympic
Dereapolis City 1-2 Beckton Supermarine
Leston Town 1-0 Bradwell Saints
Avidia United 5-2 Hastings County
Mercia Bromham 2-1 Casuals Osteria
Bromham City 0-3 Stanton Town
Caledon Simpson 2-4 Royal Emberton
Notegia Rangers 0-1 Avidia City
New Cefn Albion 0-5 Ousevale Borough

KFA CUP ROUND TWO
Remember how Locomotive Wolverton reached the quarter-finals last season? They're at it again, knocking out the league leaders on penalties - and at the Harbour Stadium, no less! Beckton, New Cefn, and the Reds join the Dockers on the cup scrapheap, though those sides at least had the decency to get knocked out by fellow Prem teams.

Meanwhile, the oddest of derbies saw Foxchester Rovers face neighbours Ousevale Borough. Sadly there was no shock to come, as the Tigers ran out four-nil victors.

Adanac City 3-1 Hastings County
Ashton Olympic 2-0 Bromham City
Yraglac Fire 1-1 Newley (2-1 AET)
Casuals Osteria 1-1 Caversham (1-1 AET, 1-0 PKs)
Thackworth Rovers 3-0 Walton City
Secklow 0-4 Avidia City
Kettledean 1-1 Burntlea United (2-2 AET, 2-3 PKs)

Emberton Hibernians 0-3 Bradwell Saints
Foxchester Rovers 0-4 Ousevale Borough
Highfield 1-2 AFC Linford

MATCHDAY 13
Avidia City proved that Ousevale's defence isn't the greatest, putting three past the Tigers. Unfortunately, they also conceded six. One step forwards, two steps back and all that. Avidia United, meanwhile, lose to Beckton, who leapfrog them into third spot, just four points off the lead. If anyone had a Beckside one-two in their pre-season outrights, guard that coupon with your life.

Oh, and Caledon got flat-out destroyed at Coalfields, as Casuals remind the league that they still exist.

Results:
Emberton Reds 3-1 Oustia
Sandwell Rangers 1-1 Dereapolis City
Ashton Olympic 0-1 Leston Town
Beckton Supermarine 3-1 Avidia United
Bradwell Saints 4-0 Mercia Bromham
Hastings County 3-3 Bromham City
Casuals Osteria 7-0 Caledon Simpson
Stanton Town 2-0 Notegia Rangers
Royal Emberton 2-0 New Cefn Albion
Avidia City 3-6 Ousevale Borough

MATCHDAY 14
Emberton Reds turn Derry into a interestingly violet Jackson Pollock, and hand off the choke button to Ousevale, who can't stop the leaders at home. In all the confusion, Beckton do the business in Bromham and climb to second spot.

I don't know what they're putting in their cereal on the East Coast, but I hope they brought enough for the rest of us.

Results:
Dereapolis City 2-8 Emberton Reds
Leston Town 0-2 Oustia
Avidia United 2-3 Sandwell Rangers
Mercia Bromham 3-4 Ashton Olympic
Bromham City 0-2 Beckton Supermarine
Caledon Simpson 0-0 Bradwell Saints
Notegia Rangers 1-0 Hastings County
New Cefn Albion 0-1 Casuals Osteria
Ousevale Borough 1-2 Stanton Town
Avidia City 1-4 Royal Emberton

MATCHDAY 15
It's as you were in the top five with wins all round, whilst Casuals fluff their lines with an uncharacteristic defeat to Avidia City. Mercia's season, meanwhile, continues to be a dumpster fire, as defeat to Oustia sees them slump to sixteenth.

Results:
Emberton Reds 1-0 Leston Town
Dereapolis City 2-5 Avidia United
Oustia 1-0 Mercia Bromham
Sandwell Rangers 1-1 Bromham City
Ashton Olympic 1-0 Caledon Simpson
Beckton Supermarine 2-0 Notegia Rangers
Bradwell Saints 5-0 New Cefn Albion
Hastings County 0-4 Ousevale Borough
Casuals Osteria 0-1 Avidia City
Stanton Town 2-1 Royal Emberton

MATCHDAY 16
Casuals throw a massive spanner into Stanton's hopes for back-to-back titles with a convincing victory; this, then, is the cue for Ousevale to school the imposters from Beckton and pull themselves back into the title hunt. The Mariners, though, had other ideas, and a smash-and-grab raid at the Southern Arena means they're just one point off top spot and four clear of third-placed Avidia United, who take that place by giving the Reds the kind of spanking usually reserved for the city's red light district.

This season has officially hit ludicrous speed.

Results:
Avidia United 6-1 Emberton Reds
Mercia Bromham 0-0 Leston Town
Bromham City 2-0 Dereapolis City
Caledon Simpson 2-0 Oustia
Notegia Rangers 1-1 Sandwell Rangers
New Cefn Albion 0-3 Ashton Olympic
Ousevale Borough 0-1 Beckton Supermarine
Avidia City 0-6 Bradwell Saints
Royal Emberton 5-1 Hastings County
Stanton Town 0-3 Casuals Osteria

MATCHDAY 17
The Abbia Mersa Derby is an absolute peach, and gives Bradwell bragging rights at least for the time being. It also gives Beckton the chance to go two points clear at the top...which they duly spurn with defeat to the Royals.

Avidia United, Ousevale, and Ashton rub their hands with glee at this, as the three sides all win to close the gap on the top two.

Results:
Emberton Reds 1-1 Mercia Bromham
Avidia United 3-0 Bromham City
Leston Town 0-1 Caledon Simpson
Dereapolis City 0-0 Notegia Rangers
Oustia 1-0 New Cefn Albion
Sandwell Rangers 2-4 Ousevale Borough
Ashton Olympic 3-1 Avidia City
Beckton Supermarine 1-3 Royal Emberton
Bradwell Saints 4-3 Stanton Town
Hastings County 0-1 Casuals Osteria

MATCHDAY 18
Here we are, almost at the halfway point of the season, and Mercia finally remember they're supposed to be one of the country's top sides and put seven past Caledon. They're still fourteenth, mind.

At the top, meanwhile, Casuals again decide to puncture a high-flying side's title push with victory over Beckton. Avidia United and Emberton Reds take advantage to overtake the Mariners, whilst Ousevale decide to be charitable and give Dereapolis three free points.

Results:
Bromham City 1-2 Emberton Reds
Caledon Simpson 1-7 Mercia Bromham
Notegia Rangers 0-1 Avidia United
New Cefn Albion 1-2 Leston Town
Ousevale Borough 1-2 Dereapolis City
Avidia City 2-3 Oustia
Royal Emberton 2-0 Sandwell Rangers
Stanton Town 1-0 Ashton Olympic
Casuals Osteria 1-0 Beckton Supermarine
Hastings County 2-2 Bradwell Saints

KFA CUP ROUND THREE
At this stage last season, Ellisham were busy collapsing against Byrrim. This season, they may be at the wrong end of Division One, but they're at least into the last sixteen after turfing out Premier Division side Avidia City. Thankfully for the Second City, United took down Mercia to advance.

Adanac City, meanwhile, will surely be back at the training ground for extra practice after losing one of the worst penalty shoot-outs in KFA Cup history. Something tells me Linford won't mind that one little bit, though.

Casuals Osteria 4-1 Locomotive Wolverton
Yraglac Fire 1-2 Thackworth Rovers
Leston Town 6-0 Teddington
Ousevale Borough 1-0 Notegia Rangers
AFC Linford 3-3 Adanac City (3-3 AET, 1-0 PKs)
Shruton Town 0-4 Dereapolis City
Northwood County 1-1 Neathill (1-1 AET, 2-1 PKs)
Cordell City 0-1 Oustia
Caledon Simpson 0-2 Bradwell Saints
Westleigh Athletic 2-0 Fenwick Town
Avidia United 1-0 Mercia Bromham
Burntlea United 0-3 Newport
Royal Emberton 3-0 New Nytton
Sandwell Rangers 3-0 Aigburth Athletic
CF Avides 0-1 Ashton Olympic
Ellisham 1-0 Avidia City

MATCHDAY 19
We hit the halfway point of the season with a change in league leader - albeit barely. Avidia United negotiate the banana skin of Ousevale, who drop to eighth in the process, and with Stanton dropping points to Oustia, the Eagles sit atop the league on goal difference.

At the bottom, meanwhile, it's hard to see any of the three sides in the drop zone staying up, with a cavernous seven-point gap between Notegia in eighteenth and Bromham City on the bubble, even if the two sides did share the spoils on the day.

Results:
Emberton Reds 0-0 Caledon Simpson
Bromham City 1-1 Notegia Rangers
Mercia Bromham 3-0 New Cefn Albion
Avidia United 4-3 Ousevale Borough
Leston Town 1-2 Avidia City
Dereapolis City 2-2 Royal Emberton
Oustia 1-1 Stanton Town
Sandwell Rangers 2-2 Casuals Osteria
Ashton Olympic 1-0 Hastings County
Beckton Supermarine 1-1 Bradwell Saints

O-LEAGUE : SEASON XVIII - PART THREE

MATCHDAY 20
It's a good weekend for the teams from the capital. Royal Emberton grab all three points from erstwhile leaders Avidia United to make up ground on the top spot, whilst the Reds are now just two points off the lead following their win in Tyfield. Stanton take over in first place, but can't take full advantage thanks to a dogged rearguard performance from Leston.

It's not the best day for the city of Bromham, meanwhile, as their sides concede a combined eleven goals. We can forgive City - they were away at Ousevale, after all - but seriously, Mercia, conceding four to Avidia City? Ouch.

Results:
Notegia Rangers 1-2 Emberton Reds
New Cefn Albion 1-1 Caledon Simpson
Ousevale Borough 7-1 Bromham City
Avidia City 4-1 Mercia Bromham
Royal Emberton 1-0 Avidia United
Stanton Town 0-0 Leston Town
Casuals Osteria 3-0 Dereapolis City
Hastings County 0-2 Oustia
Bradwell Saints 2-1 Sandwell Rangers
Beckton Supermarine 2-2 Ashton Olympic

MATCHDAY 21
Fresh from getting their hides tanned by Avidia City, Mercia ship a half dozen at home to Stanton. The Dockers are now two points clear at the top, with Emberton Reds leading the chase after they took down bottom-feeders New Cefn. Avidia's defeat to Casuals makes life very interesting in the chasing pack, as third to eighth are now separated by a single point.

Results:
Emberton Reds 4-1 New Cefn Albion
Notegia Rangers 1-2 Ousevale Borough
Caledon Simpson 0-0 Avidia City
Bromham City 1-2 Royal Emberton
Mercia Bromham 2-6 Stanton Town
Avidia United 1-2 Casuals Osteria
Leston Town 1-1 Hastings County
Dereapolis City 1-3 Bradwell Saints
Oustia 0-2 Beckton Supermarine
Sandwell Rangers 1-4 Ashton Olympic

MATCHDAY 22
Notegia finally register their second win of the season, dinging Royals' title hopes in the process. They're still seven points from safety, mind.

Meanwhile, at the top, Stanton squeak past Simpson, the Reds take three points home from the Southern Arena to keep the heat on, whilst United remind people why they started the season as favourites with a mullering of Bradwell.

Results:
Ousevale Borough 1-2 Emberton Reds
Avidia City 2-0 New Cefn Albion
Royal Emberton 1-4 Notegia Rangers
Stanton Town 1-0 Caledon Simpson
Casuals Osteria 0-1 Bromham City
Hastings County 3-3 Mercia Bromham
Bradwell Saints 2-6 Avidia United
Beckton Supermarine 1-0 Leston Town
Ashton Olympic 2-0 Dereapolis City
Sandwell Rangers 1-1 Oustia

MATCHDAY 23
It's Groundhog Day at the Southern Arena as, for the second week running, Ousevale lose two-one to a team from the capital. At this point you'd probably imagine they're glad Hibernians are in the second tier so they can avoid the hat-trick.

At the top, Stanton's win over surely-doomed New Cefn keeps them at arms' length from the Reds, whilst Ashton hole United's boat to sneak into third place.

Results:
Emberton Reds 4-1 Avidia City
Ousevale Borough 1-2 Royal Emberton
New Cefn Albion 0-2 Stanton Town
Notegia Rangers 0-1 Casuals Osteria
Caledon Simpson 1-0 Hastings County
Bromham City 0-3 Bradwell Saints
Mercia Bromham 4-3 Beckton Supermarine
Avidia United 0-1 Ashton Olympic
Leston Town 1-2 Sandwell Rangers
Dereapolis City 1-2 Oustia

MATCHDAY 24
A nice calm week for the top five, who all secure the full three points (Reds in the Emberton Derby, no less). Casuals slip back a little, but they were playing Ousevale, so we'll give them a pass.

At the bottom, meanwhile, Bromham City may be looking over their shoulders. Losing to Ashton wasn't the worst result, but with Hastings winning for only the second time this season, the gap is down to five points between relegation and salvation.

Results:
Royal Emberton 0-2 Emberton Reds
Stanton Town 3-0 Avidia City
Casuals Osteria 0-0 Ousevale Borough
Hastings County 3-2 New Cefn Albion
Bradwell Saints 4-1 Notegia Rangers
Beckton Supermarine 2-0 Caledon Simpson
Ashton Olympic 1-0 Bromham City
Sandwell Rangers 2-1 Mercia Bromham
Oustia 0-1 Avidia United
Dereapolis City 0-1 Leston Town

KFA CUP ROUND FOUR
It's the round of sixteen, or as the non-Prem sides are calling it, "everybody out of the pool". Ellisham, Westleigh, Thackworth, Linford, Newport, and Northwood all bowed out, leaving eight top-flight teams to fight for the cup. That doesn't include Dereapolis, who did the hard work against Oustia only to completely faceplant the shoot-out.

Sandwell Rangers 1-0 Ellisham
Bradwell Saints 2-1 Thackworth Rovers
Westleigh Athletic 0-1 Avidia United
AFC Linford 0-1 Casuals Osteria
Leston Town 1-3 Ashton Olympic
Newport 1-3 Ousevale Borough
Oustia 1-1 Dereapolis City (1-1 AET, 3-0 PKs)
Northwood County 0-2 Royal Emberton

MATCHDAY 25
It may be a little harsh to call it a choke, but the fact remains that Emberton Reds' defeat in the clash of the top two blows a massive hole in their title hopes, as well as allowing Stanton to open the gap to five points. They've also got Ashton breathing down their necks, as the Maroons did the job against relegation-threatened Notegia.

Results:
Emberton Reds 0-1 Stanton Town
Royal Emberton 1-0 Casuals Osteria
Avidia City 3-2 Hastings County
Ousevale Borough 1-1 Bradwell Saints
New Cefn Albion 0-1 Beckton Supermarine
Notegia Rangers 1-2 Ashton Olympic
Caledon Simpson 2-2 Sandwell Rangers
Bromham City 1-0 Oustia
Mercia Bromham 4-1 Dereapolis City
Avidia United 3-0 Leston Town

MATCHDAY 26
So, about that hole in the Reds' title hopes...apparently Hastings are walking duct tape, as the eighteenth-placed side hold the reigning champions and league leaders to a one-all draw. Emberton, meanwhile, take all three points in Osteria. Ashton, too, take advantage, beating an Ousevale side who seem to have parked themselves in eighth place for the duration.

Meanwhile, Royal Emberton hit Bradwell for six because they can.

Results:
Casuals Osteria 0-2 Emberton Reds
Hastings County 1-1 Stanton Town
Bradwell Saints 1-6 Royal Emberton
Beckton Supermarine 2-0 Avidia City
Ashton Olympic 2-0 Ousevale Borough
Sandwell Rangers 3-0 New Cefn Albion
Oustia 1-1 Notegia Rangers
Dereapolis City 1-3 Caledon Simpson
Leston Town 2-1 Bromham City
Avidia United 0-0 Mercia Bromham

MATCHDAY 27
Things just got interesting in the title race. The Beckside Derby is a tense affair that eventually sees Stanton and Beckton split the points, Emberton Reds go full Emberton Reds at home to Hastings (who are now only four points from the Great Escape), and all of a sudden it's Ashton one point off top spot courtesy of a back-and-forth win over the Royals.

In all the confusion, Mercia's ownership of the Bromham Derby goes almost unnoticed. Almost.

Results:
Emberton Reds 1-3 Hastings County
Casuals Osteria 3-1 Bradwell Saints
Stanton Town 1-1 Beckton Supermarine
Royal Emberton 2-3 Ashton Olympic
Avidia City 0-2 Sandwell Rangers
Ousevale Borough 1-0 Oustia
New Cefn Albion 1-4 Dereapolis City
Notegia Rangers 0-2 Leston Town
Caledon Simpson 3-1 Avidia United
Bromham City 1-4 Mercia Bromham

MATCHDAY 28
It's as you were as the top five all win; Avidia United, though eight point off the lead in fifth, ar particularly impressive with a five-nil win. True, it's against a New Cefn side who you'd bet against if they were up against wet bog roll, but three points are three points.

Results:
Bradwell Saints 1-2 Emberton Reds
Beckton Supermarine 1-0 Hastings County
Ashton Olympic 1-0 Casuals Osteria
Sandwell Rangers 0-3 Stanton Town
Oustia 0-0 Royal Emberton
Dereapolis City 3-0 Avidia City
Leston Town 0-0 Ousevale Borough
Avidia United 5-0 New Cefn Albion
Mercia Bromham 1-0 Notegia Rangers
Bromham City 1-1 Caledon Simpson

MATCHDAY 29
Beckton's title hopes - yes, that's an odd phrase - may have received a mortal blow as the Reds spectacularly continue to not choke. Stanton and Ashton, meanwhile, record nervy wins to keep ahead of the men from the capital. Elsewhere, United eke out a win in the Second City Derby, and Ousevale win a Mercian Classic that's eighth versus twelfth. Money, it would seem, isn't everything.

Results:
Emberton Reds 4-0 Beckton Supermarine
Bradwell Saints 0-1 Ashton Olympic
Hastings County 2-3 Sandwell Rangers
Casuals Osteria 1-0 Oustia
Stanton Town 1-0 Dereapolis City
Royal Emberton 2-0 Leston Town
Avidia City 1-2 Avidia United
Ousevale Borough 1-0 Mercia Bromham
New Cefn Albion 0-0 Bromham City
Notegia Rangers 1-0 Caledon Simpson

MATCHDAY 30
Avidia United are still hungry for the title, and prove it with a healthy win over the Dockers. Down in the south-west, meanwhile, Ashton are mounting their own title challenge, and put yet another hole in the Reds' hull with a four-one tonking that puts them two clear at the top. Just to compound matters further, Beckton beat Sandwell to remind everyone that they're not out of this yet.

Mercia, on the other hand? They're mathmatically out of the race, and having been knocked out of the KFA Cup as well, they are four dropped points away from officially missing out on the IFCF places altogether. Sources say they're already looking at the possibility of applying for the Vilitan Invitational.

Results:
Ashton Olympic 4-1 Emberton Reds
Sandwell Rangers 0-2 Beckton Supermarine
Oustia 2-1 Bradwell Saints
Dereapolis City 0-1 Hastings County
Leston Town 0-1 Casuals Osteria
Avidia United 4-2 Stanton Town
Mercia Bromham 0-1 Royal Emberton
Bromham City 1-0 Avidia City
Caledon Simpson 1-3 Ousevale Borough
Notegia Rangers 0-0 New Cefn Albion

O-LEAGUE : SEASON XVII - PART FOUR

KFA CUP QUARTER FINALS
Flying high in the league they may be, but the Cup proves a step too far for Ashton as they're taken down by Avidia United. They're joined in the semis by Ousevale, Casuals, and surprise package Oustia. Anyone who says they're still not fit for the Prem needs to crawl back undeer their rock.

Ashton Olympic 1-3 Avidia United
Sandwell Rangers 0-1 Oustia
Ousevale Borough 2-1 Bradwell Saints
Casuals Osteria 0-0 Royal Emberton (1-0 AET)

MATCHDAY 31
Ashton return to winning ways in the league with a win over KFA Cup semi-finalists Oustia (yeah, still sounds weird). The chasing pack isn't letting up on them, though, as everyone down to sixth-placed Royal Emberton also record wins. Ousevale move up to seventh, meanwhile, after being the latest team to heap misery on New Cefn.

Results:
Emberton Reds 1-0 Sandwell Rangers
Ashton Olympic 2-0 Oustia
Beckton Supermarine 2-0 Dereapolis City
Bradwell Saints 2-1 Leston Town
Hastings County 0-1 Avidia United
Casuals Osteria 0-2 Mercia Bromham
Stanton Town 3-0 Bromham City
Royal Emberton 2-0 Caledon Simpson
Avidia City 1-1 Notegia Rangers
Ousevale Borough 6-2 New Cefn Albion

MATCHDAY 32
New Cefn could have been relegated this week with a loss; they of course choose this week to turn over the Royals and stave off relegation for another day. At the other end, meanwhile, the top three all win, but Avidia United's draw with Beckton drops both sides back in the title race.

Elsewehere, Ousevale rack up six at home to Avidia City, but are shown up by Casuals' nine-two win in Simpson.

Results:
Oustia 0-3 Emberton Reds
Dereapolis City 3-4 Sandwell Rangers
Leston Town 0-2 Ashton Olympic
Avidia United 2-2 Beckton Supermarine
Mercia Bromham 1-0 Bradwell Saints
Bromham City 1-1 Hastings County
Caledon Simpson 2-9 Casuals Osteria
Notegia Rangers 0-2 Stanton Town
New Cefn Albion 2-1 Royal Emberton
Ousevale Borough 6-0 Avidia City

MATCHDAY 33
Dammit Ousevale, why do you choose now to be relevant? Their win over Stanton allows Ashton to stretch their lead, going five clear by being the latest side to use Mercia as a punching bag. Emberton Reds aren't giving up the fight, though, and are now just a point off second spot.

Also, Avidia City concede six for the second week in a row. Ouch.

Results:
Emberton Reds 3-1 Dereapolis City
Oustia 0-2 Leston Town
Sandwell Rangers 0-1 Avidia United
Ashton Olympic 3-1 Mercia Bromham
Beckton Supermarine 1-0 Bromham City
Bradwell Saints 2-2 Caledon Simpson
Hastings County 0-2 Notegia Rangers
Casuals Osteria 1-0 New Cefn Albion
Stanton Town 1-2 Ousevale Borough
Royal Emberton 6-1 Avidia City

MATCHDAY 34
Stanton's draw with Royal Emberton means it's one side from the capital doing the other a favour as the Reds win in Leston to grab second spot. They're still six points off Ashton, though, as the leaders won comfortably at Walton Gardens.

At the bottom, Albion are officially down after losing at home to the Saints.

Results:
Leston Town 1-2 Emberton Reds
Avidia United 5-1 Dereapolis City
Mercia Bromham 2-1 Oustia
Bromham City 1-0 Sandwell Rangers
Caledon Simpson 1-3 Ashton Olympic
Notegia Rangers 0-3 Beckton Supermarine
New Cefn Albion 0-2 Bradwell Saints - New Cefn Albion are relegated
Ousevale Borough 5-1 Hastings County
Avidia City 0-0 Casuals Osteria
Royal Emberton 1-1 Stanton Town

MATCHDAY 35
It's official; Stanton will not be champions again this season. Their defeat to Casuals means they're ten points off the lead with three games to play. Indeed, they even lose third place, as Beckton overtake them with a win over Ousevale.

Astonishingly, Beckton can still mathematically win the title. I may need a lie down.

Results:
Emberton Reds 2-0 Avidia United
Leston Town 2-1 Mercia Bromham
Dereapolis City 2-0 Bromham City
Oustia 0-2 Caledon Simpson
Sandwell Rangers 1-1 Notegia Rangers
Ashton Olympic 3-0 New Cefn Albion
Beckton Supermarine 3-1 Ousevale Borough
Bradwell Saints 1-1 Avidia City
Hastings County 1-4 Royal Emberton
Casuals Osteria 1-0 Stanton Town

MATCHDAY 36
Well, if you're going to win the title, win it in style. Ashton Olympic are champions of Krytenia for the second time after a seven-nil drubbing of Avidia City, thanks to Emberton Reds' failure to take all three points from Mercia. Beckton, meanwhile, fluff their lines at Oxley Park, allowing Stanton to reclaim third place.

At the bottom, it's once and done for Hastings; they're off back to Division One after capitulating to Casuals.

Results:
Mercia Bromham 1-1 Emberton Reds
Bromham City 0-1 Avidia United
Caledon Simpson 1-2 Leston Town
Notegia Rangers 1-0 Dereapolis City
New Cefn Albion 1-0 Oustia
Ousevale Borough 2-0 Sandwell Rangers
Avidia City 0-7 Ashton Olympic - Ashton Olympic are champions
Royal Emberton 2-1 Beckton Supermarine
Stanton Town 1-0 Bradwell Saints
Casuals Osteria 3-0 Hastings County - Hastings County are relegated

KFA CUP SEMI FINALS
Sadly, Oustia can't quite make it to the promised land, though they give a fair account of themselves against the holders. Avidia's win over Ousevale, meanwhile, means the Tigers will almost certainly be looking at an IFCF-less season.

Oustia 1-2 Casuals Osteria (@ Walton Gardens, Simpson)
Ousevale Borough 1-2 Avidia United (@ Abbey Road, Bradwell)

MATCHDAY 37
The title race is sewn up, but Ashton have one last trick up their sleeve. They beat Stanton, allowing Avidia United to come back seeingly from the dead and take third spot. Emberton Reds' draw with Bromham City means they're not guaranteed a Challengers' Cup spot just yet, whilst Stanton, Royal Emberton, and Beckton will start the last day of the season still in the hunt for an IFCF place.

United's win, by the way, is over Notegia, a result that relegates Tyfield's finest.

Results:
Emberton Reds 0-0 Bromham City
Mercia Bromham 1-0 Caledon Simpson
Avidia United 2-0 Notegia Rangers - Notegia Rangers are relegated
Leston Town 1-0 New Cefn Albion
Dereapolis City 0-5 Ousevale Borough
Oustia 2-0 Avidia City
Sandwell Rangers 0-2 Royal Emberton
Ashton Olympic 1-0 Stanton Town
Beckton Supermarine 0-1 Casuals Osteria
Bradwell Saints 5-0 Hastings County

MATCHDAY 38
Emberton Reds sign off the season doing what they do best; choking like a toddler eating army men. Seriously, how do you lose five-nil to Caledon Simpson?!? The upshot is that Avidia embarrass Ousevale to secure second, Stanton salvage third by beating Oustia, and the Reds are now hoping that the Eagles win the cup so they can get an IFCF spot.

Results:
Caledon Simpson 5-0 Emberton Reds
Notegia Rangers 3-1 Bromham City
New Cefn Albion 2-2 Mercia Bromham
Ousevale Borough 1-4 Avidia United
Avidia City 0-0 Leston Town
Royal Emberton 5-3 Dereapolis City
Stanton Town 1-0 Oustia
Casuals Osteria 2-2 Sandwell Rangers
Hastings County 0-2 Ashton Olympic
Bradwell Saints 1-4 Beckton Supermarine

KFA CUP FINAL
Casuals retain the cup, denying the Eagles a trophy and stealing Emberton Reds' IFCF spot at their own ground. Savage.

Result (@ Isserson Stadium, Emberton):
Casuals Osteria 2-1 Avidia United

Procedural Note: The Invitational Applications from Audioslavia and the Squornshelan Remnant States was accepted despite not being submitted with the appropriate letterhead. The VCI Organizing committee was relieved to not have to retrieve any paperwork from across the street, down the road or around the corner as they have in recent seasons. They did however note an absence of paperwork from the Eternal Empire and sent a carrier pigeon in a Southwesterly direction to investigate. Any other associations applying for an invitation whose applications were sent by drunk Cocoabo, intercepted by Darth Starblayder's goons, lost in a high-stakes Nationstates Trading Card game or otherwise not received were not extended an invitation to compete. Vilitan side Rammsissill was extended an invitation as defending champions per the competition charter.

The Vilitan Cove Invitational is an International Club Competition. Designed to allow clubs who have not already qualified for a major international club competition (UICA; IFCF; Cup Winners Cup) a chance to compete on the international stage. The Invitational is designed as a Fair Play competition, however an association may set any sporting criteria by which to determine which team will be permitted to apply to the competition. The Vilitan Cove Invitational Committee reserves the right to change the competition entry criteria at any point.

Not all applicants are guaranteed invitation into the competition, particularly in the event more than 32 associations apply for consideration.

The format of the competition is a Fixed Bracket Knockout with minor re-seeding during rounds which have byes. All pairings prior to the Semi-Final stage will be two-legged home and away aggregate knockout rounds.
The "Away Goals" rule will not apply. Any match which is level on aggregate at the conclusion of full time during the second leg will immediately proceed to an extra time period. There will be no silver or golden goal scenario, and a full 30 minute extra time period would be contested. If the scores are still level, a penalty shootout will be employed to determine which team advances.

Semi-Final and Final stages will each be a single knockout match at a selected location in the Vilitan Cove region.

TSCS:74th Super Cycle. 26th w/Tropicorp. 4th Tropicorp Super

Tropicorp's sponsorship of the Super Cup competition through UICA reaches back to the 52nd edition of the event and had already been extended through the UICA 75th anniversary campaign. With the IFCF absorbing control of competitions from UICA, however, it left an untenable break for Tropicorp which had invested heavily in the Super Cup brand for the previous 20+ cycles.

However, the initial confusion in the transition from UICA to IFCF eventually made way for opportunity. The traditional UICA Super Cup included only the winners of three of the four UICA sanctioned events. Other major competitions such as the Cup Winners Cup and Vilitan Cove Invitational were rightly excluded as not being official UICA sanctioned events, but Tropicorp saw an opportunity to unite them in the Non-IFCF Super Group. The winners of the 'other' 3 major internationstatal domestic competitions would be invited to compete in their own three team group identical to the format of the old UICA Super Cup. The winner of this group would then be invited to contest the Tropicorp Super Cup against the winner of the new IFCF Super Group.

The Non-IFCF Super Group would be timed such that the matches would correspond roughly to the end of the Vilitan Cove Invitational tournament with the IFCF Youth Cup Champions playing their match against the Cup Winners Cup champions first, before each team played a single game against the winners of the Vilitan Cove Invitational. The "Rising Stars" Cup Champions would be permitted up to 3 Senior 'Guest' players on the pitch at any given time in addition to a generous age restriction up to 21 years old for the remainder of their participating players.

Northern Union (BRE) 0–1 Directus (EUR)

After a shock defeat to the Walstreim Lions in the Super Group, Northern Union recovered with a victory over Vilitan Cove Invitational Champions Rammsissil to advance through to their second modern Tropicorp Super Cup Final. As in their previous attempt, however, they would come up short. Directus of Eura, winners of the IFCF Champions League and the IFCF Super Group win the Tropicorp Super Cup match at Tropicorp Park to make it a clean sweep across their International Domestic slate and becoming the first club from Eura to lift the modern Tropicorp Super Cup Trophy.

History and Tenants :: Tropicorp Park is home to Tropicorp FC, members of the Vilitan Stellar Division and also regularly serves as the home of assorted International and Domestic Competitions. The Tropicorp Cup, a four team, 2 day grand-finale of the Tropicorp Lower League has served as an outstanding warmup to test the hospitality available at Tropicorp Park, and was critical in the build up to the decision to allow the finals of the Eagle's Cup V competition to take place in Tropicorp, the first major international competition of any kind to be held in Tropicoast.

Tropicorp Park hosted the 54th AOCAF Final that saw Cosumar break through with a first ever regional title over Eshan. The stadium was also the final site for the AOCL XXIII contested between Mâ Âlâmëómë of Farfadillis and Blades ex Magnaeus of Mertagne with the Farf side being victorious on Penalty Kicks; and for AOCL XVII which saw Jungle Strike FC defeat Fligsive FC 3-0.

Tropicorp officials are continuously looking to expand the portfolio of events held at the Park and began hosting UICA competition finals in addition to its long-standing partnership with the UICA Super Cup competition. Tropicorp Park hosted the final of the 70th UICA Series 'B' Champions Cup and the 25th UICA Youth Cup competitions. Tropicorp officials are always looking for new partnerships, however, and continue to take advantage of the opportunities to showcase their hospitality including branching beyond Footsport. The NSCF Tropicorp Bowl was contested on the gridiron with Raynor University defeating the university of Iqaluit 27-14.[/box]
