Welcome to Licentiapacisterra !!

We are an island nation in the region of Esportiva. We are beginning to establish ourselves as one of the regulars on the World Cup stage, having arrived on the scene 12 years, and qualifying for the World Cup twice.

If you have the pleasure of visiting the Islands during the Cup of Harmony, you certainly won’t be short ofthings to do when you aren’t watching the match. Whether it be walking the streets of our beautiful cosmopolitan capital Montfort, relaxing on the beaches of Garton Bay, or hiking through the forests and mountains of Hessington Island, you will have the chance to spend time in one of the most beautiful and friendly nations in Esportiva.

But, however much may go on outside the football grounds, the stadia will be the obvious focus of this tournament. Here, you can have a look at all of the stadia involved in hosting the Licentian portion of the Cup of Harmony.

LTI Stadium – Montfort, Montfort Parish – 75,000
LTI Stadium is the home of Licentian sports. Having held the final of the Campionato Esportiva, the entiretyof the Campionato di Atletica Esportiva, and the final of the Grand Duke’s Challenge Cup in the past, along with hosting the Licentian national football and lacrosse teams, Montfort Wanderers, and Montfort LC, this all-seater stadium (the only such ground on the Islands) is truly the behemoth of the Islands’ sporting culture. You can expect to see royalty fairly often too, with the Grand Duke, Luke Thomas II, a regular attendee of the games at the stadium named for his father.

Gardiner-Stewart Stadium – Abingdon, Abingdon Parish – 60,000
Gardiner-Stewart Stadium, newly renamed and expanded, is only behind two things in terms of pride in Abingdon Parish sports. One is the club it hosts, Abingdon Celtic. The other is the town’s prodigal son, Alex Gardiner-Stewart, for whom the stadium is named, who, until his death two years ago, stood between the sticks for both the Green-and-Gold, and the national team. After a campaign of revival for the return of NGS, the stadium has retained the name in honour of its fallen star.

Adamson Park – Montfort, Montfort Parish – 55,000
Adamson Park is another of the stadiums in the Islands that has previously hosted big games, with the Cyan-and-Gold’s home games during their first World Cup campaign held here. Its other international exposure is on the UICA stage, where SC Montfort have played the last few seasons since the club turned professional.

Barton Software Arena – Colesham, Colesham Parish – 47,000
The only stadium involved in hosting the Cup of Harmony that was commercially built and sponsored, the BS Arena (as it is jocularly known has a retractable roof), and is usually home to Colesham Athletic, the most recent champions in the Licentian Premier League, led by former national team manager, Luke Thompson.

St Bart’s Oval – St Bartholomew’s, St Bartholomew’s Parish – 45,500
As the name suggests, St Bart’s Oval was originally a cricket ground, but when St Bart’s Parish cricket team moved their base to picturesque Hessington Island, the stadium was expanded to host St Bart’s, though the terraces and grassy banks typical of a cricket ground still remain in the stadium, giving it a unique vibe.

Coliseum of the Gaels – Abingdon, Abingdon Parish – 42,000
Set in the predominantly Gaelic East End of Abingdon, this fortress is home to Gaels, the main rivals of Celtic. With the area known as a rough area, with regular violence, expect raucous neutral Licentian fans letting off flares, fighting, and engaging in generally riotous behaviour at games held here.

Bayside Stadium – Carrington, Colesham Parish – 34,000
Situated at the edge of Carrington’s beautiful harbour, the Bayside Stadium has only three stands, opening at one end to reveal views of the calm waters of Licentiapacisterra’s largest port, with a water based half-time pyrotechnic show to entertain fans. The universally hated Carrington United play here, and the stadium is decked out in pure red to remind you of that fact.

Hilltop Stadium – Houghton, Abingdon Parish – 31,000
Another stadium where the designers failed to be inventive with the name, the stadium at Houghton is quite literally built into the hillside. Notably, when it was closed for renovations a few years ago, various people reported seeing men and women flying on broomsticks within the stadium. These people were all later consigned to mental hospitals for their own safety, though some have been released, and have joined the conspiracy theory circuit.

University Stadium – Montfort, Montfort Parish – 27,500
On the campus of the University of Montfort, this is a historic stadium, and the university still hosts their sports programs at this former athletics stadium. The capacity noted is that when the track is filled by temporary stands, which it will be for the Campionato. It most famously hosts Montfort University, the Licentian Second Division side.

The Anchor – Garton, Montfort Parish – 21,000
Built on an old Licentian naval ship, The Anchor, a nickname turned actual name for the stadium that plays host to Garton County, is permanently moored in Garton Harbour, and used as a grandstand for the annual Garton Regatta when it is not hosting football. Seasickness can occur on a stormy day; bring travel sickness tablets.

Country History

Apox was founded 571 years ago by migrants from the north of our continent in Esportiva, with a large influx of people coming from Licentiapacisterra from the East. The capital Dwile was established in 14 A.T (Apoxian Time) and has been the cultural and financial centre every since. After a civil war and a war against Cyborg Holland, for lands to the south called Olfa, Apox in it's current form was established in the late 460's A.T. Since then, we have thrived in relative peace and freedom, with our semi-democratic state watching over. The current leader is Jemima Cafrew, representing the Free Party who was elected in the elections in 570 A.T. Her predecessors, John Asheburton and Lord Winklebottom were both key figures in Apoxian history, Lord Winklebottom especially, as they both helped turn Apox from nearly a dictatorship to a semi-democratic state. The current government has plans in place to go further, and become fully democratic by the year 574 A.T

Transportation

Apox has a quite varied road system, with the roads around Dwile being very well maintained, but with the roads further away often being one-track and almost dirt paths. However, our railway system, the Apox National Railway is a very good service, and is one of the most reliable railways in Esportiva. Our four main airports Dwile Capital Airport, Mandon District Airport (just outside Dwile), Gwinevra Airport and Urbanista Regional Airport are spread out over the country and have flights from many countries.

Accomodation and Currency

All the host towns and cities have a variety of hotels of varying standard to stay at, including the award winning, 5 star Beverly Mountaintop hotel in Dwile. The currency is the chuck, and is represented with a normal £ sign. It trades quite well, at 1.49 to the dollar on average.

Sport

Sport is a key part of Apox, with football being the national sport. The Apox National League is about to start its 7th season, along with the second league, and the Marshall Cup competition. When you consider that Apox are now ranked 42nd in the KPB rankings, it shows you that our rapidly improving infrastructure is here to stay, and ready to be a part of world football, with Apox qualifying for the world cup for the first time in WC64. The other main sports in Apox are rugby union, which has its own league and cricket, with squash and sailing also being minority sports.

Venues
The Royal Stadium, Dwile (capacity 71,000)
The pride and joy of Apox, this stadium only gets to host the biggest of events.
Image

The APX Sports Stadium, Dwile (capacity 56,000) home to Dwile Warriors
The most prestigious domestic football ground in the country, the APX Sports Stadium a great fan favourite, with a spectacular atmosphere within. It's hosting history includes a semi-final in BoF 50 and the final of the most recent Globe Cup.
Image

Dwile Stadium, Dwile (capacity 54,000) home to Issington F.C
Issington F.C have recently moved into this stadium after the collapse and subsequent take-over of Dwile Central. Situated near to the river, the stadium is very easily accessible.
Image

The Barbaria, Gwinevra (capacity 38,000) home to Gwinevra Barbarians
Built in Gwinevra in 533, this is one of the oldest stadiums in Apox, and it is always loud, the stadium naturally amplifying the cries of the fans.
Image

Lime Ground, Urbanista (capacity 36,000) home to Urbanista
Lime Ground has had a bit of a face-lift for the Cup of Harmony, and has been renovated to fit in an extra 4,000 spectators along with it. It is a cauldron of noise when a game gets going, a great place to be.
Image

Village Green, Barbury (capactiy 32,000) home to Barbury Town
The Village Green is a stylish and modern stadium with all the necessary features, a big step up from the antiquated old stadium it used to be, before renovation prior to BoF 50.
Image

The FCB Stadium, Brimstone (capacity 30,000) home to FC Brimstone
The FCB stadium missed out on hosting the Baptism of Fire held here 3 years ago, but with renovations taking it's capacity up to 30,000, it is now ready to host international matches, and ready to bring tourists to the city of Brimstone, an industry not traditionally associated with Brimstone.
Image

Church Street Ground, Dwile (capacity 25,000) home to FC Endeavour
A historic stadium built in the centre of Dwile and was home to FC Endeavour before they were resurrected 3 seasons ago, back in the between 510-540.

The Inevitable Syndicate National Football Team
For The Cup of Harmony 56

The World Cup was an interesting time for the Syndicate. With politics up in the air, football has still remained the general feel good sport. While they were unable to qualify for the Finals, beaten to the punch by one of the hosts of this tournament, hopefully the team can return to Apox and play incredibly well. A controversial move has been made by manager Lewis Thackray however, with the Syndicate switching to a more defensive style of play after just one too many x - x+1 scores.

Les Royales Roster and Information for Cup of Harmony 56, Hosted by Apox and Licenciapacisterra

Les Royales arrive at their second CoH after a disappointing finish at the 64th World Cup qualifiers, where they finished with 31 points, they head to Apox and Licenciapacisterra to try a hand at the invitational tournament for teams that did not make the World Cup Finals. Now, the team look for a good showing in Esportiva, as they continue to try to qualify for the big event.

Sicoutimont enter Cup of Harmony 56 with the exact same roster as the World Cup Qualifiers, without 1 player. Loic Leduc, who injured himself in the recent Qualifing match in Northern Sunrise Islands, was replaced by Fernard Girard. No bench players will arrive in Esportiva with the team. Georges Allonts, top striker, was recently moved from Lac-Drouin St-Pierre to Astograth club Gesterlake FC. He will be joined by manager Louis Vaudrail, former manager of club Nordique Val-Maurice. Additionally, Fernrad Girard went to Astograth's Blue Mountain Range. Along with these transfers, youth keeper Martin van Snaartsen, a top prospect at the age of 17, who looks to join the national team in a few years. It'll be tough to break in for him though, with top keepers Pier-Luc Dion and Artyom Bergeron being just 28 and 22 years of age respectively. If we assume each retire at 36, it'll be World Cup 67 or later before Dion retires, and with Herbert Georges' international career over and focusing on leading Boring Paradisian club Empilot City United for his final 2 years. Otherwise, the squad looks alright, and might be able to win its first Cup of Harmony game. We'll give you more updates, concerning schedule, group stage preview, and more! Keep following The Lac-Drouin Times' sport section for more information!

Notes

Saintland has a very rough style of play and very few fouls in our national league, so don't hesitate to card Sanctii players, especially if Saintland loses. In the Sanctii version of the 5-3-1-1 formation, the outside backs also function as outside midfielders. Prince Andreas is the twin brother of Prince Josephus, the goalie and captain for the Saintland ice & field hockey team, which is currently competing in the World Championship in Field Hockey, and younger brother of Prince Petrus, quarterback and captain for Saintland's gridiron team, which is currently competing in the World Bowl. He is the team captain and also functions as the team's playmaker. Ioannes and Nicolaus Poenius are brothers, as are Silvester, Paulus and Josephus Flaccus and Petrus and Marcus Jucundius. Andreas Inventius is the brother of Pius Inventius, Saintland's flagbearer at the VIII Winter Olympics. Georgius Catiotus is the fiance of Martha Pudentilla, the gold medal winning figure skater from Saintland. Vagionius is not an especially fast player, but he is very tall and he is an exceptional finisher. When he is one-on-one against the keeper, Vagionius will score a goal 9 times out of 10. The Poenius brothers both have world-class speed. When Saintland attacks, typically Prince Andreas has possession of the ball and Vagionius, the center midfielders and the outside backs all try to get open inside the box, but 1 or 2 of them will usually be left back to defend (never Vagionius), except when the situation calls for an aggressive attack. Prince Andreas takes free kicks, corners and throw-ins. Vagionius will handle penalties. This roster remains the same as in the Baptism of Fire and World Cup qualifying, although the stadium information has been removed. When I have started RPing a match report, I will update my factbook to reflect what happened in the match.

Interim Coach

Ernesto Farías
Former international striker who spent much of his playing career in Cafundéu. Became caretaker coach of the national side for the second time after Martín Tejera stepped down following defeat in Osarius. Won four of his seven games in charge but couldn’t prevent the Corsairs finishing in a hugely disappointing fourth place.

Assistant Coaches

Principal coaching staff remain, providing much needed continuity. Meaning Hernán Ojeda holds on to an assistant coach slot while Israel Navarro continues to work with the goalkeepers and Javier Valentín oversees the fitness work.

Talent

GK: 1. Ezequiel Medrán (25) – Sporting San Marquez
Picked out by Tejera, who knows a thing or two about goalkeeping, as one to watch during his tenure in charge at the Estadio Silva. Now first choice for a Sporting side that finished as Liga de Fuego runner’s up.
GK: 13. Omar Cuerdo (31) – El Nacional
Something of a late bloomer after plying much of his trade in the murky lower levels of Sargossan football. Signed to be a backup at the Independiente but when injury gave him a chance in the first team he made the position his own.
GK: 25. Silvio Romero (28) – Sportivo Cordova
Mr reliable at the back for Sportivo. He’s not showy, he’s not spectacular but everything Silvio does tends to be right.

DR: 2. Mauro Maidana (26) – Sporting San Marquez
One of the stars of Nuevo Onwere’s excellent season. A first call up to the national side coupled with a big money move across the city to Sporting are the just rewards for a fine year.
DRC: 5. Leandro Gonzàlez (29) - El Nacional
Former captain of the Under-21 side who has become an integral member of the senior squad. Became the youngest El Nacional captain in their history.
DLC: 6. Mauro Fernández (27) – Ciudad Soluca
Soluca giants Ciudad may not have had their finest season on record but one thing that did stand out was their defensive solidity. And key to that was the form of this rugged centreback.
DL: 3. Lautaro Formica (28) – Sporting San Marquez
The second son of Marquezian immigrants who couples sound defensive instincts with a wand of a left foot. Clocked up twelve goals from set pieces last season.
DRC: 12. Matías Sosa (23) – Sporting San Marquez
A free scoring centreback whose temperament has been known to get him in a spot of bother. Twelve goals and a string of dominating performances were high points of the season. Four red cards, not so much.
DC: 14. Diego Jara (31) – El Nacional
A rare thirty plus-er in the El Nacional lineup whose experience became crucial as the campaign went on. Diego rose to the occasion and helped his side to Globe Cup qualification.
DLC: 19. José Toranzo (22) – Perntav Marna TU (Earent)
Can play at both left fallback and in the centre of defence, looking equally accomplished in both positions. Recently set out for a new challenge in Earent.
DR: 21: Gonzalo Soriano (28) - El Nacional
Pacy rightback with a devil of a cross on him. Has a good understanding with club mate Gonzàlez and will continue to push hard for a starting berth.

DMC: 4. Lucas Ramís (27) – Sporting San Marquez
Key member of a Sporting side looking to re-establish themselves in the Liga de Fuego.
AMR: 7. Javier Jerez (24) – Sporting San Marquez
A diminutive winger with plenty of technique but a willowy frame that struggles to compete with the game’s more physical practitioners.
MC: 8. Rodrigo Defederico (25) – Oyardo FC (Astograth)
Was the most highly prised transfer target of the close season and object of desire for all the nation’s big clubs. But the playmaker turned down the likes of Sporting San Marquez and Ciudad Soluca to make the move to Astograth.
AML: 11. Alejandro Echeverría (31) - Ciudad Soluca
This boy's a bit special and we're not talking in the crash helmet and crayons sense. Stick him anywhere in the attacking third and he can make something happen. Handed the captain's armband by Tejera.
AMRC: 15. Rodrigo Hoyos (27) – Sporting San Marquez
‘Hot Rod’ spends a little too much time making headlines for his off field antics for most coaches liking but you can’t argue that the boy has talent. Another key member of Sporting’s strong season.
MLC: 16. Kike Galán (26) – Sporting San Marquez
Miniature midfield dynamo whose influence in the centre often belies his diminutive stature.
AML: 18. Sebastián Canteros (24) - Perntav Marna TU (Earent)
Started life as a striker before the youth coaches at the Ciudad Deportiva decided that such crossing ability was wasted in the centre. Has joined Toranzo in Earent.
DMC: 22. Matías Escobar (23) – El Nacional
A young midfield anchor man who can run all day long. Statistically the best performing Sargossan in the Liga de Fuego last season.
AMLC: 24. Ivan Ávila (23) – Ciudad Soluca
An understudy for Sargossan international Alejandro Echeverría at the Estadio Generalissmo Joaquín Delgado who is starting to show why he’s regarded do highly at his club.

FLC: 9. Gelson Di Santo (23) – Ciudad Soluca
A real find from the Ciudad academy who is used sparring for both club and country but tends to rise to the opportunity when given it. Can play up front or wide on the left.
FC: 17. Mariano Estrada (26) – Sporting San Marquez
A familiar figure towards the top of the Liga de Fuego scoring charts. Was seen as something of an untouchable in the squad but the emergence of Ferreyra could change that.
FC: 17. Federico Ferreyra (24) – Gortz United (Astograth)
Another gem unearthed by the scouts in San Marquez who was Nuevo Onwere’s top scorer as they finished in a more than creditable 13th place in the Liga de Fuego. Impressed the Astograthian scouts during what was an otherwise underwhelming World Cup qualifying campaign.
FRC: 20. Lucas Andrada (32) - Turoki Tide (Vilita)
A talented lad plucked from SuperLiga midtable obscurity by sharp eyed V-League scouts. Now plying his trade in Turoki after spells at Kiiarana and Yeaddin Owls. Recently helped his club to victory at the 40th Globe Cup and subsequent AlfaCredit Super Cup. Which probably constitutes a good season.
FC: 23. Agustín Caruzzo (27) – Dwile Warriors (Apox)
Top scorer at the Bonilla Arena as Alianza Jucaro squeezed into the Globe Cup qualification places. Has since moved to Apox.

Style
A fluid 4-3-3 in possession, a more solid 4-5-1 without the ball. Probable starting eleven (Listed L to R)

TEAM CASSADAIGUA- CUP OF HARMONY 56

For those of you who followed the Cassadaigua Comeback Tour, you know of the extensive tryout period that took place. It was a tough process to select the team, as several players had one great game that could skew things in their favor, or one bad one that could work against them. Ultimately, it was the most consistent players throughout that have been selected.

Coach: Brittany Lawton, 1st World Cup
Brief Bio: While Brittany has never coached the senior team before, she was the coach of several Di Bradini Cup sides. Her playing days saw her participate in five World Cups (53-57), as a forward. There are some that feel that her #10 should be added to the list of retired numbers, but CASE has been reluctant to retire numbers of post-World Cup 51 players. Former coach Meaghan Bateman, the leader of the squad prior to our departure, resigned.

TSE’s World Cup 64/Cup of Harmony team
When this team was built, these guys and girls selflessly applied only with their initials. They claimed that they were doing it for the glory of God first and national pride second, without care to personal gain. These players are also singers, which they believe helps them be in sync and builds teamwork. The players are divided into tiers by age, with Tier 1 getting more play time than Tier 2, Tiers 3/4 getting less than that.
Style Multiplier: 0
Formation: 3-3-4

Sopranos (Offensive)

The sopranos are physically smaller, but they are fast and agile. They can take the ball and place it just where they want to. MB is particularly offensive, and will probably score almost all of the goals.
Tier 1: MB, HS, JLo, AL
Tier 2: LC, EW, MS, KB

Baritones (Midfield)

The men on the team are a wide range of sizes and have been put at midfield for such. ZP is often a goalie, but when he isn’t a goalie, he is midfield. AS, JLe, TH, LS, JF and DHu will be positioned more offensively at midfield, with ZP, TM, TO and GS positioned at the defensive side of midfield.
Tier 1: ZP, AS, JLe, TH, TM
Tier 2: TO
Tier 3: GS
Tier 4: LS, JF, DHu, EC

Altos (Defensive)

The altos are bigger and stronger. They have a greater ability to block shots and battle for the ball. These are the most “harmonious” group; they are best friends and will back each other up in any kind of fight on the field. Whenever ZP isn’t goalie, CD is.
Tier 1: CD, BP, KO, DHe, AA, AB, KH
Tier 2: CH
Tier 3: BH

Head Coach: LK who has almost 30 years of choir and soccer experience.
Assistant Coach: JS who has a lot of administrative experience and works well with LK
Goalies: ZP or CD, this will be a game day call (if Rp’ing first, choose the goalie that didn’t play the day before).

If you’d like, you can have these players sing the national anthem for 1 or both teams. If there is one thing they respect more than each other, it is music. They will honor any national anthem.

The Cormorants
Preferred Formation: 4-4-2 (with wingbacks)

Playstyle: Low on possession, but high on pressure, with fast play and short passing. Generally reliant on a stereotypical 'big guy/fast guy' strike partnership. Very physical, quite pacy.

Stubbs has now retired; Thrift is almost always deployed unless the side they're playing is Sam Allardyce levels of aerial, in which case the larger Urquhart is favoured. When more defence is called for, Cathy Stokes and Maria Stout act as conventional left- and right-backs respectively.

Gethin RAMSEY - 53
With a long and bloody history behind him, Ramsey's playing career spanned from 19 to 37 as a bloody-minded centreback/defensive midfielder for Chenoworth Rovers. A one-club man to the last, he spent four years there as manager, hauling them out of the First Division and into safe upper midtable in the Premiership. He's spent the last eleven years as manager of the national side, desperately calling for reform of the system, and finally the arrogant NSFA has decided to compete on the global level. Determined, charismatic and popular with the team, if anyone can bring New Sideburn to glory, it'll be Ramsey.
His latest honour has been winning the Baptism of Fire through a combination of grit, hard graft, iron will and violent conduct towards his own players and staff. The fans adore him. Despite some scares in qualifying, he managed to overcome some crippling defeats to secure fifth place handily.
1 - Portia THRIFT - 32 - Crisisbless
22 caps, 5 clean sheets

With the retirement of Asger Stubbs, Portia Thrift has emerged as the unquestioned number one, and now has the jersey to match. She possesses unmatched reflexes, superb positioning and uncanny instinct. Portia, paradoxically, found her best form near the end of the qualifiers... despite suffering a 7-0 defeat at around that time, as well.

12 - Wilhelm URQUHART - 29 - Parrhesia United
Uncapped

The second-best player in his club, and as a cup winner from last season Urquhart was the natural choice to be the new number 12 for his country. He is akin to Stubbs in build and height, but younger and more agile. He hopes to win some caps and impress at the Cup of Harmony, to perhaps get a contract overseas...

20 - Kurtis FITZMARTEN - 25 - Sabrefell Athletic
2 caps

A young, energetic goalkeeper who has enjoyed significant success with his club. As of yet, he is uncapped, but he shows remarkable talent and is likely to star in the future. He's taken his assignment well in stride, too, with a very professional attitude; really, he's just happy to be wearing the lucky terracotta at all. Due to inconsistency, Kurtis got a shot as a starter and as a substitute, but managed to get mauled against Sicoutamont enough to turn 2-1 into 2-5.
2 - Anna SHRIKE - 24 - Crisisbless
Right Wingback
26 caps, 1 goals

Pacy, intelligent and a halfway decent shot from distance, Shrike balances being the perfect wingback by being short, stocky, one-footed and ill-disciplined. She also tends to wander a bit, generally out of position. Still, she is incredibly good at her limited skillset, and best of all she'll never give up on a seemingly lost ball. Shrike spent the first half of the qualifiers being fat and crap, but managed to regain her form in the second half and is now one of the most in-form players in the squad.

3 - Lukas STRONGNESSE (c) - 36 - Sabrefell Athletic
Centre-back
29 caps, 3 goals

A man of unquestioned skill and honour, Strongnesse has one of the least tarnished disciplinary records in the country. What he also has is a thunderously powerful right foot; he's a fine penalty-taker. Strongnesse knows when to apply pressure and when to lay off, how to slide in and take the ball, not the man, and arguably most importantly how to marshal his team. Strongnesse attracted controversy during the Baptism of Fire, receiving a red card for blatantly attempting to mutilate Prince Andreas of Saintland. Nevertheless, he remains a true professional and an asset to the game.
After the Saintland Incident, a trophy was made in his name and image that will now be contested between the two nations after every Baptism of Fire. New Sideburn is the current holder, defending their title with another 3-2 win at home.

4 - Olga NIHIL - 29 - Maximum City
Centre-back
6 caps, 0 goals

A tall, broad-shouldered centre-back of the classic style, Olga Nihil is almost always in position and ready. She never lets her gaze wander, and she's always on the mark. Her only weakness is pace, and she's uncomfortable in possession, but when it comes to stopping an assault dead in its tracks there's none better at the job.

5 - Rook HARM - 33 - Crisisbless
Centre-back
29 caps, 1 goal

A stalwart defender, Rook Harm resembles a nightclub bouncer more than a defender... in fact, that's what he moonlighted as in his early years in the lower leagues, to try and make more cash for his working-class family. Now with Crisisbless, he is unmistakable with his greased-back black hair and preference for shades and dusty black jackets. On the pitch, he's a tenacious attack dog, with an uncanny instinct and a vicious sliding tackle. Currently on a two-month suspended sentence for assault.

13 - Leila CORVETTE - 22 - Sabrefell Moths
Left Wingback
25 caps, 0 goals

Fast and reckless, Corvette is the other swift, female, talented-but-unreliable wingback of the team. That said, she's more well-balanced than Shrike, and a far better defensive prospect. She makes for a wonderful team with Sabrefell Moths teammate Cheney Rosewood on the left wing. Leila has shown a worrying tendency to be clattered by massive people.

17 - Maria STOUT - 35 - Maximum City
Right-back
7 caps, 0 goals

Stout was once the best defender in New Sideburn, but she was seriously injured at the age of thirty-two and was forced out for nine months. She returned, never quite the same player, and as a show of her influence Maximum City slumped in the rankings. Still, after a light couple of years Stout seems to be back at her best, if a little older than she used to be, and her distinctive dreadlocks are known to intimidate any winger in the league. Able to play on the left as well as the right, Stout will be Ramsey's choice for when he favours a more defensive, conventional fullback.

22 - Cathy STOKES - 21 - AFC Treason
Left-back
9 caps, 0 goals

A versatile and terrierlike defender who shows much promise. With AFC Treason she contributed to one of the most solid defences in the league. A brilliant young prospect, and with a lot of maturity for a player her age. That said, she's not strong in any particular area, but in ten years you can just tell that she'll be the finest left-back in the country. Effective in corners, not least to a long braid that keeps 'accidentally' smacking opposing strikers in the face.
6 - Lucia OAKWOOD (vc) - 29 - AFC Treason
Defensive Midfielder
30 caps, 2 goals

Oakwood's professionalism, intelligence and instinct are without peer; with Stubbs retired, she's vice-captain for her country. While she may be losing some of her pace and physicality with age, she's masterful on the ball and with her feet. While set pieces are not a strength for the team, it is almost always Oakwood who fires them in. Oakwood has been capped in, and has in fact started, every one of New Sideburn's 30 WCC-approved international matches, captaining one and scoring twice.

8 - Grant BEARDSLEY - 31 - Parrhesia United
Right Winger
27 caps, 7 goals

A scholarly type, Beardsley is a well-balanced player comfortable anywhere in midfield but most skilled on the wing with the ball at his feet. He plays on the right wing, despite having a dismal right foot; he prefers to cut inside and shoot from just outside the box. He's been the engine behind Parrhesia's recent league success, the direct cause of their dominance of possession. He never tires, either; he's reliable for a good 90 minutes every match, time after time. Tenacious and versatile. Beardsley scored arguably the best goal of the entire Baptism of Fire to win the final for New Sideburn, had a bad run of form, but went on to score New Sideburn's first hat-trick, snatching victory from the jaws of defeat against minnows Rikatan.

10 - Dale BRIGHTLEY - 22 - Basin Plain (United Gordonopia)
Attacking Midfielder
8 caps, 3 goals

A young, talented midfielder, Brightley has a bright future. In the present, however, his pace and eye for goal are a real asset to the team. Brightley has matured a lot in the past year, a healthy amount of stick from his comrades, a hard season at Basin Plain and the influence of a shock collar toughening him up significantly, and he aims to force his way into the first-team.

11 - Cheney ROSEWOOD - 26 - Sabrefell Moths
Left Winger
29 caps, 5 goals

Relatively young, fast and with a keen instinct for goal, Rosewood may well be the strongest individual player in the team. While he may look like an asshole, and is, to many reports, just that, he's not a flash git or a dandy by any means, more than capable of going in hard when he needs to. His right foot's just as able as his left, so he excels at cutting suddenly into the middle and letting off a superb strike from range.

16 - Pavel IRONCLAD - 24 - Sabrefell Athletic
Central Midfielder
1 cap, 0 goals

A dour, sullen-looking playmaker, his ability belies his appearance. Brought in to replace Kyle Renown, whose right leg was broken in the Irish Invitational loss to New Ecopia, Ironclad's omission in the first place surprised many. At the age of then-23, Sabrefell Athletic's entire team seemed built around him, and they won the Premiership two days before his birthday. He may play an awkward position in Ramsey's favoured 4-4-2 diamond, but when a playmaker is called for (such as the radical shift to 4-2-4 that won the Baptism of Fire) there'll be no man better. He's had one cap, but that cap turned the tide of the entire Baptism of Fire.

18 - Dacia MOUNTAIN - 30 - AFC Treason
Defensive Midfielder
2 caps, 0 goals

For her club, Mountain and Oakwood both share the role of central midfield, but both their skills lie more towards the defensive; therefore, in Ramsey's diamond midfield, Mountain serves as her cover. Though she may be a little slower, and might lack Oakwood's remarkable ability with corners and free kicks, Mountain still has a lot to offer, and never seems to tire.

19 - Karelline CHARMWELL - 24 - Sabrefell Athletic
Attacking Midfielder
23 caps, 5 goals

A dynamic midfielder, Charmwell lacks the pace of Brightley but makes up for it with intelligence and instinct. Her tenacity is unrivalled, and if you somehow manage to get the ball off her you can be sure she'll come back for it. She's good in front of goal, and just as good at assists; her unselfishness is unquestioned, but she knows when she's best placed to score.

23 - Chase WINGETT - 21 - Newrook Democracy
Right Winger
9 caps, 0 goals

Wingett has flourished in his first season in the Premiership, but he's failed to break consistently into the first team. Still, Wingett's fast, he's capable with the ball at his feet, he has buckets of potential and he's actually good at crossing the ball in; his right foot is dead accurate.
7 - Gerhard THUNDER - 27 - Sabrefell Moths
Striker
29 caps, 15 goals

Tall, broad and physical, Thunder is an archetypical target man, though perhaps that is to do him a disservice. Unlike most target men, Thunder is quite capable on ground level, often using his strength to brush past defences, and he's remarkably talented at winning back lost possession. And worryingly for defenses all over the land, not only does he have a rapport built with Rosewood and Corvette from sharing a club, he seems to be getting the same kind of connection with Alicia Scabbard...
Current top scorer.

9 - Alicia SCABBARD - 25 - Crisisbless
Striker
26 caps, 12 goals

Notable for a long ponytail that whips in the wind, Scabbard is short and lean, and sickeningly good with the ball at her feet. Perhaps her only weakness is a slight tendency to be wasteful; however, she's more tenacious than any other striker, and likely to win possession back straight away. Makes a good partnership with Thunder; someone fast, someone strong, and between them? 27 of the nation's 59 goals.

14 - Leyland STALLION - 23 - Southfell United
Supporting Striker
3 caps, 1 goals

Pacy, quick, keen as mustard and unselfish; New Sideburn doesn't really do supporting strikers, but as far as they go, Stallion has the (somewhat dubious) honour of being New Sideburn's Emile Heskey. He's still capable of goals, naturally, proven by a blistering strike in the Asger Stubbs testimonial.

15 - Bruce PAYNE - 28 - Vermillion Rage
Striker
11 caps, 3 goals

A tall, athletic player that strikes a balance between Thunder's strength and Scabbard's precision. Payne's bullheadedness and inability to feel fear results in a player who will give 100% in any situation, and bound right back to his feet after being floored by a harsh tackle. He'll give the team the breath of fresh air it needs in a tight corner; a 'super sub' if ever there was one, and he's proven his worth in the Baptism of Fire; his goals have twice been the difference between victory and defeat. His form is no longer red-hot, but he's still here when needed.

21 - Tara LOCKDOWN - 24 - AFC Treason
Striker
2 caps, 1 goal

Lanky and with trademark blue-dyed locks, Tara Lockdown is one of the fiercest strikers in New Sideburn. She is simply a battler, through and through, and just refuses to let the ball be taken from her. Weaknesses? Her bullheadedness sometimes leads to shortsighted play, and she's occasionally caught out of position.
1 - Portia Thrift (Crisisbless)
12 - Wilhelm Urquhart (Parrhesia United)
20 - Kurtis Fitzmarten (Sabrefell Athletic)

2 - Anna Shrike (Crisisbless)
3 - Lukas Strongnesse (c) (Sabrefell Athletic)
4 - Olga Nihil (Maximum City)
5 - Rook Harm (Crisisbless)
13 - Leila Corvette (Sabrefell Moths)
17 - Maria Stout (Maximum City)
22 - Cathy Stokes (AFC Treason)

6 - Lucia Oakwood (vc) (AFC Treason)
8 - Grant Beardsley (Parrhesia United)
10 - Dale Brightley (Basin Plain)
11 - Cheney Rosewood (Sabrefell Moths)
16 - Pavel Ironclad (Sabrefell Athletic)
18 - Dacia Mountain (AFC Treason)
19 - Karelline Charmwell (Sabrefell Athletic)
23 - Chase Wingett (Newrook Democracy)

7 - Gerhard Thunder (Sabrefell Moths)
9 - Alicia Scabbard (Crisisbless)
14 - Leyland Stallion (Southfell United)
15 - Bruce Payne (Vermillion Rage)
21 - Tara Lockdown (AFC Treason)

Image
The largest stadium in New Sideburn, located in the capital, Sabrefell. Capacity: 120,000. Used for national games and cup finals exclusively, Farham Theatre is named for Joan Farham, the first female player to play in the New Sideburn Premiership. It is, by all accounts, a top-class facility.

SAINTLAND
0-0 draw in BoF 51 Group Stage
3-2 win in BoF 51 Quarter-Final
3-2 win in Strongnesse Trophy I

The first of New Sideburn's rivalries is based entirely on mutual hatred. After a splinter group from Saintland, the Feministus Sanctusterra, entered a korfball tournament, the inherent fascism of the theocracy was revealed, and although their initial impact was quite limited, a text from Sideburnese korfball player Miriam Ashore to her cousin, Lukas Strongnesse, just before a match against the official football team of Saintland, lead to Strongnesse attempting to maim Prince Andreas. Hilariously, his suspension expired before the next match between the two, an ugly and bitter match which New Sideburn narrowly won. Now the two sides utterly despise each other, and that doesn't look like it'll change any time soon.
As both sides are known for being rough and violent, matches between the two tend to be ugly and bad-tempered.
The old ways were best!

Original nation behind Nephara. New Sideburn now symbolises an ideal, rather than a nation.

Style: -2

Manager: Bridget Scroves

Goalkeepers:
1. Joshua Farthing (Sporting Esper) (m)
13. Emily Winters-Neumann (Twineur Bugs) (f)
23. Bruce Millar (Excelsior Slogda) (m)

Defenders:
2. Dima Novak (Excelsior Slogda) (m)
3. Jerzy McFetridge (Keppal Cosmos) (m)
4. Brett Chrowder (Canbix Muses) (m) (captain)
5. Penny Consky-Bock (102d Jr.s) (f)
15. Marlene Jamieson (Keppal Cosmos (f)
19. Luanne Delvale (Arlington City) (f)
21. Vipin Lamin (Namiri Forest) (m)
22. Sara Hale-Barnard (Canbix Muses) (f)

Midfielders:
6. Patricia Eliot (Canbix Muses) (f) (1 goal)
7. Joan Gerland (Spenson Suburbia) (f)
8. Sally Ici-Holder (102d Jr.s) (f) (2 goals)
10. Kerry Tammany (Bassabook Old Boys) (m) (2 goals)
11. Ted Silla-Raty (Twineur Bugs) (m)
12. Xolani McKiegna (102d Jr.s) (m) (1 goal)
14. Martina Ruan (FTC United) (f) (1 goal)
16. Antje Kurzmann-Tremme (Eintracht Trink) (f) (2 goals)
17. Davi Keane-Liuprand (Ephesian FC) (m) (1 goal)
18. Shula Bachchan-Laum (Namiri Independent) (f)

Forwards:
9. Loris Muraro-Ughi (Bassabook Old Boys) (m) (3 goals)
20. Yuuki Nakano (Eintracht Trink) (m) (3 goals)

The normal starters are 1-11, though this will likely change. The most likely starting formation would be:
..................__________.................
..................|Farthing|...................
McFetridge..Chrowder..Novak..Consky-Bock
.................Eliot......Gerland...............
.....................Silla-Raty....................
.............Tammany....Ici-Holder.............
..................Muraro-Ughi.....................

This is the same roster from the World Cup qualifiers, but with a couple of changes to the starting eleven. The reserve defenders would tend to line up (right to left as they see it, or left to right in this diagram) as Lamin, Jamieson, Delvale, Hale-Barnard if they're all playing at once. The midfielders would have Bachchan-Laum or Kurzmann-Tremme in defensive midfield, Keane-Lipurand in the center, and Ruan and McKiegna as attacking midfielders. Expect plenty of variation, particularly up front--we wouldn't want to risk inflating the lone striker's goal tallies, though then again we're not expecting to have much in the way of goal tallies, period. Zwangzug play a defensive style, as noted, and while they'll obviously be weak overall they're particularly unskilled on headers. Some players might chance a professional foul, but they're really not a violent team.

More than you ever wanted to know about Zwangzug can be found in our factbook, a pastiche of in-jokes, allusions, moments of pride, retconned "what was I thinking?!" moments, and much more from the last, er, six-plus years. Unless you wanted to know things like "why are there so many -ed names" (egalitarian parents, not being posh) or "what about the Mc" (it's a common morpheme among our Bigtopian community, who knows why). Well, if you have more questions, you can ask.

In particular, a summary of the original national team's history (fl. WC33-42) is available. I should really get to wikifying biographical pages for some of the more colorful bygone players. Poke me about that.

Colors: White with black stripes. Or black with white stripes. We go for the basics.

If RPing first, please feel free to name goalscorers, injure, and distribute cards to my players at will! You can also godmod events, though I'd appreciate advance warning if you want to take narrative liberties that I couldn't just as easily do to your team (due to being, e.g., an MT, all-human country). Put another way, metaphorical "godmodding" is welcome if clever, but I'd avoid the literal sense.

If you'd like to collaborate on a storyline, drop me a telegram! Always up for new ideas.

For the first time since World Cups 52-53; Qazox has missed back to back World Cups. But this will be the first time Since World Cup 60 that the Eagles will play in the CoH, and the last time they played in the CoH they just missed out on winning the title, losing to the Archregimancy in the waning moments. Can this young team repeat such a deep run again, or will their inexperience, which showed in the 2nd half of quaifying cost them once again?

Gordonopian National Team
Cup of Harmony 56

Starting Eleven

ImageImage
Away Kit

At the end of the qualification cycle, the National Team dropped the ball on making it to the playoffs, but now there is a golden opportunity to make a splash in the Cup of Harmony. After the horrific tragedy that was the Matchday 16 bombings, a good result would be a tremendous consolation for a team that lost four of its members to a terrorist strike.

The holes made on the team have been filled by several strong reserve players, now with starting experience, though there is some weariness about the fact that four key players have already announced their intention to retire from the international level following the cup.

Image
Formation
4-3-1-2

Jay Neuman
Jay Neuman is quite simply the best keeper to ever come from Gordonopia, and he is only 25 years old. He has won the Golden Boot an astounding four time in the GPL, helped lead FC Deska to the Champions' Cup semi final, earned a spot on the GPL Team of the Decade, and perhaps most importantly he has anchored the National Team's tremendous recent success. During their run to the semi-finals last cup, coming in as a complete outsider, Tobias set the mood during qualifying by letting in only 12 goals across 18 matches; tied for fourth in the world, and a number which he repeated this cycle as Gordonopia narrowly missed the playoffs. During the cup itself, his performance became even more important. In what may be remembered as Gordonopia's finest hour, the National Team took on The Holy Empire, then ranked first in the world, in the round of 16. With all the odds against them, Tobias' stunning saves contributed to the game going to penalties, where he managed a nailbiting victory. In this tournament, Neuman's importance cannot be understated.
GK - 25 - Club: Image FC Deska - 60 Caps - 0 Goals

Roger Steiner - Captain
While he has already announced that this will be his last cycle as an international, Roger Steiner is an essential member of the National Team. Starting his career with a long stint at defensive powerhouse FC Deska, Steiner ultimately went on to be the first Gordonopian to play in a top-three UICA league when he transferred to Ituraitz FC. As the most experienced member of the National Team's formidable defensive line, and likely soon to be the most capped player of all time, Steiner has proven time and again that he deserves both a spot on the starting lineup and his position as captain. In addition to his ability to break up plays, Steiner is very skilled at tackling as well as marking.
LB - 33 - Club: Image Ituraitz FC - 96 Caps - 1 Goals

Fritz Cole
Following a stellar performance in the final three matches of World Cup 60 qualifying, Fritz Cole was elevated to the starting lineup and has remained there ever since. Despite the relative ups and downs of his domestic club, where he is one of the biggest stars, Cole has proven to be a reliable performer on the National Team. His skills mostly lie in counters and tackling, but he has a diverse range of talents on the defensive end.
CB - 29 - Club: Image Willingham AC - 81 Caps - 0 Goals

Matty Paige
Paige, signed to Iturributa United after only a season in the GPL, is one of the most successful Gordonopians in both the international club and national team levels. One of the strongest defenders in the Iturributa Premier League, he has remained with one of that competition's dominant two squads: Iturributa United. On top of his agility, which has allowed him to keep up with breakaways, Paige has also demonstrated the rare defensive talent of being able to score should he be needed, and is the highest scoring player in the backfield in team history.
CB - 27 - Club: Image Iturributa United, Iturributa -75 Caps - 6 Goals

John Bates
GPL Clubs Represented

# Club Name
4 FC Deska
4 Union Holiday
1 Reinhiem Metro
2 Basin Plain
2 Tolven
1 Gordonopia FC
1 Kaje Football
1 Teva FC
1 VfB Deska Süd
1 West Tolten
1 Willingham AC

After being relegated to the reserves following the World Cup 60 qualifying stage, John Bates has returned to the starting eleven. For the past several seasons, he has been with Taeshan's New Capetown Falcons where he has found a fair modicum of success. It was his role as the 'fifth man' for the National Team's powerful defense, though, that ultimately earned him a starting role with the departure of Michael Stahl.
CB - 29 - Club: Image New Capetown Falcons, Taeshan - 47 Caps - 1 Goals

Zachary Johnston
Zachary Johnston's long-awaited breakthrough into the starting lineup was very unfortunately marred by death; his predecessor in the LDM spot, James Stahl, was tragically one of the 16Four; the four players who died in the matchday 16 attacks. This doesn't change the fact, though, that Johnston is an excellent player in his own right, and has found much success abroad.
LDM - 26 - Club: Image Bugny FC, Saugeais - 24 Caps - 0 Goals[/strike]

Davis Roger
A powerful defensive midfielder in the prime of his career, Davis Roger earned his spot on the national team through his superb stamina and technical skills, as well as his solid performance during the team's previous cycles. His greatest strength remains his ability to intercept passes, a statistic in which he led the GPL for several seasons, and which he put to good use in games such as the national team's famous 2-0 upset of then 6th ranked Valanora in World Cup 60 qualification as an unranked squad.
CDM - 26 - Club: Image Reinheim Metro - 87 Caps - 0 Goals

Lane Franz
Another key FC Deska player makes a mark on the National Team with Lane Franz. At his club, he is viewed as the 'third point' in a deadly triangle composed of himself, James Stahl, and Jay Neuman that makes up the largest brick in the Northern Wall. Working as a highly efficient screen, Franz has managed to shut down numerous breakaways before they even begin. Supported by the rest of the national teams' defense, Franz completes a solid force that has benefited from four cycles of relative consistency.
RDM - 32 - Club: Image FC Deska - 95 Caps - 3 Goals

Marc Castleton
Like Zachary Johnston, Marc Castleton was thrust into a starting position after tragedy struck. The youngest player on the starting lineup, Castleton was being groomed to take the spot of veteran Jeff Draper, who was in his own first cycle as a starter. Now it is his a tournament early. Hopefully the talented young playmaker is ready.
AM -20 - Club: Image Union Holiday - 5 Caps - 0 Goals

Jere Tobias - Vice Captain
Jere Tobias is an essential part of the team's offense. After winning the golden boot in 2012, Tobias bounced around internationally, first to Juvillian Martinax of Erathore, and then to Paramus FC of Vielha. After several seasons back in the GPL, he finally found a home with Qidade Savana of Jasĭyun. With his ability to both score, and recognize when someone else has a better chance, Tobias has a lot to back up his position on the team, including his ongoing National Team scoring record.
ST - 29 - Club: Image Qidade Savana, Jasĭyun - 90 Caps - 35 Goals

Jonathon Turner
The big surprise of the break between qualification and the Cup of Harmony was the naming of Jonathon Turner to the starting lineup. Formerly a young prodigy striker, Turner has been one of the key players in the return of Gordonopia FC to prominence, and was recently named to the GPL Team of the Decade after winning back to back Golden Boots. His tremendous speed and agility, as well as skill in the air, make him an ideal deep-lying striker, with the latter being cited as a key reason he may be able to 'shake up' the offense.
ST - 23 - Club: Image Gordonopia FC - 10 Caps - 5 Goals

Coaching

Manager: Michael Neu
Neu is the most successful manager in modern Gordonopian history. In the early days of the Gordonopia Premier League, he built a formidable squad with FC Deska, winning the regular season in 2012, the inaugural season, and the Gordonopia Cup in 2013, and building the foundation for a team that has been the most dominant in the league.

After his second season with Deska, Neu signed on with a three-cycle contract to the Gordonopian National Team, where he has built the squad from a virtual nobody, coming off of its first cycle in decades, to the surprise underdog of the 63rd Cup, leading his team to the semi-finals.

Neu is a defensive minded coach, but one who is no stranger to working with talented strikers. With the National Team, he tends to favor a 4-3-1-2 formation, with the 3 being primarily defensive midfielders. A solid defensive core was built up around several of Neu's former players from Deska, while a pair of superb strikers, Jere Tobias and Vonn Keller, became the crux of the offense.

Assistants: Thomas Cox, David Günther, Max Fleisching

Barunia national soccer team, aka The Suns
After a loss to West Angola in the play-offs saw the Suns miss out on qualifying for the World Cup, the team are ready for their first Cup of Harmony. Coach Stephen Wiggens has been retained, and has gone for experience, with all players having been in either the WCQ or BoF squads. In a surprise move, Cedric St.John will start the campaign with the captain's armband, as Wiggens looks for a new captain following the shocking loss of Joric Ruskin through serious permanent injury.

OOC: My usual starting line-up is listed below. I do like to mix things up though, so please check my most recent RP for the latest information. The names in capitals are the player's names as they appear on their shirts. These are the names they use. When writing my players names, please use a single capital for their name, like you would in normal spelling.

Staff
Head Coach: Stephen Wiggens
Assistant: Archibald Comi
Doctor: Penny Simpson

Starting Line up
Strikers/Forwards
#9 Victor CASTOLO
Without a doubt the greatest footballer Barunia has ever produced, Victor Castolo is an all-round goal scorer. Whenever he gets hold of the ball, cries of "Castolo, Castolo!" echo around the stadium. Leading goal scorer for the Suns in the Baptism of Fire and World Cup Campaign, Castolo also holds several league records. A definite for the national team, the hopes of Barunia have been pinned on his shoulders.

#21 Fabrice SAGORO
A young talent, 19 year-old Fabrice Sagoro was tipped early as a potential superstar of the game. Scouted by the Tildos Ravens when he was in the under-twelve league, Sagoro has been an integral part of their attack since joining the side two years ago. Known for his ability to score from range, the Suns will look to him to score from free kicks with his powerful left foot.

#20 Gregory PLANT - Centre Attacking Midfielder
Gregory Plant played two seasons for Tridents and one for Porthaven United, where he impressed selectors for the national team. Plant may be characterised as an aggressive player, whenever his team is out of possession he will fight hard to win back the ball. When he does get the ball, he has good control, and will often go on long runs before passing off to one of the forwards. He plays very forward, and will rarely stray far behind the half way line.

Midfielders
#11 Harry CENTENA
Winner of the BFL's "best and fairest" two years running, Centena has a reputation as one of the gentlemen of the league. He is co-captain of the Tildos Ravens and has been described by their coach as the "kingpin" that holds the team together. He will be the kingpin also for the national side, providing the vital passing link between the defenders and the attackers.

#26 Cedric ST. JOHNCaptain
One of the few players on the national side to play professionally outside of Barunia, Cedric St. John brings some much needed flair to the midfield. A flamboyant player, he has been called "dynamic" and "explosive", and has a tendency to be wherever the action is. With his trade mark long hair and headband, he can always be spotted on the field moving from one end to the other, as he is a player who attacks when the ball is forward and defends when it is back. An experienced player, Cedric will be trialled as team captain for the Cup of Harmony.

#27 Horatio MONTOYA
Another international, Montoya was always going to be in the national team. A fan favourite when he played for the Orcas, Montoya is well-known for his ability to head the ball, and will always be in the box during a set play. He often plays in the centre of the midfield, and as such is a vital link in the progression of the ball from defence to the forwards. Montoya favours a lobbed pass , and will attempt to play forwards into scoring positions by passing the ball over the defenders' heads.

#23 BHARA
Raised on Coral Island, a tiny speck of land at the far end of Tildos, Bhara hadn't seen a game of football until he was eighteen, when a friend invited him to a sports day programme on Trinity. Spotted as a natural talent by the National Sports Authority, he was offered a position on the local university team, where he developed his skills. Since then he has received offers from every BFL club, but has stayed loyal to the Tildos Ravens. Bhara has good all-round skills, and plays as a defensive midfielder. As the first line of defence against goals, he is not afraid to challenge for the ball.

Defenders
#29 PACIFIQUE Tsebo
Tsebo grew up in an impoverished foreign country, and he and his friends favourite pastime was to kick a football around. Born with an eye condition, his eyesight deteriorated until he was almost totally blind at the age of twelve. When he was fifteen, a Barunian charity arranged to bring Pacifique and his mother over to Barunia for surgery to restore his sight. Since then, they have stayed in the country, and Pacifique played football first for his school, and then for the Orcas U-16 squad. He then joined the Orcas, before signing on to the Tridents, where he currently is. His style has been described as precise, and he is an excellent interceptor and passer of the ball. Pacifique joined the starting line-up after Joric Ruskin's exit from the team, and has proven himself to be a capable starter.

#22Julian MILLET
The tallest player on the team, Millet has a commanding presence in defence. He tends to hang right back in defence, within the goal square, and use his whole body to defend the goal. His height and heading ability makes him a good man to have when facing an opposing free kick or corner, and he has proved invaluable for the Western Orcas in these situations.

#8 Lucio DAVID
Lucio David is a surprise entry into the national side, having only played at amateur level until nine months ago, when he ran on to the field for the Hawks. An aggressive player, he likes to attack the ball and has the ability to score goals, as proved by the two he claimed for the Hawks in the BFL. A tenacious and fierce tackler, David sometimes goes too hard and gets himself in to trouble, especially as he has a habit of showing his displeasure with a referee's decision.

Goalkeeper
#10 Michelangelo WILLANS
An international, Willans brings high-level experience to the national team. Willans is an instinctive player, positioning himself and picking his rushes with excellent precision.

Substitutes - Note this lists only four out of five positions. Fifth position is open for any reserve player.

#5 Timothy FEATHERSTONE - Centre Forward
Timothy Featherstone has made a big impression since moving from Porthaven to the Tildos Ravens. A smart player, the centre-forward is always looking to play a teammate into a shooting position with a well-timed pass. His shooting record itself is not that great, but he can find the target when it counts.

#4 Tommy CLINTON - Defender
16 year old Tommy Clinton is the youngest player on the team. He came to Barunia two years ago to play for Porthaven United U-15 team, and has been signed to play for the senior club from next year. Clinton is an eager defender, but plays smartly and won't usually foul.

#13 Danil SAMSON
Dropped from the team after the Baptism of Fire, Danil returns to the side to replace the injured Zokora. He surprised everyone last BFL season by leading the goalscoring for the San Baptiste Sea Lions. Young and inexperienced, he is a fast and opportunistic goalscorer. He will usually not carry the ball far though, preferring to shoot or pass almost straight away.

Reserves
#15 Andre LOPEZ - Defender
The Sea Lions captain, Lopez has been a stalwart of Barunian football for years. Despite questions being raised about his fitness and form, Andre has proven that he still has what it takes to compete at international level.

#18 Eoin MACFAYDEN - Forward
Eoin Macfayden has been a stalwart of Porthaven United for many years, although often overshadowed by Castolo. As such, he often plays as an assistant rather than a shooter, and will often head out to the wings looking to cross the ball in.

#12 Georgio BEZANA - Attacking Midfielder
When Bezana was named as part of the national squad, many people had never heard of him. He has never played a professional game in Barunia, having left the country when he was 8. However, Bezana has had success overseas in international teams, and it was his international record, as well as his Barunian citizenship, that won him a berth in the international side. He is rather a conservative player, and is not aggressive. He tends to play out on the wings more than other players in the team.

#7 Aron SCHWARZ - Attacking Midfielder
A player from the Western Orcas, Schwarz is one of the older and more experienced players on the national team. Schwarz has no particular skill he excels at; rather he is a player with a well-rounded set of skills. He is seen as a good solid choice for the national squad.

#30 Arthur WOOD - Defensive MidfielderWith the Suns relying on the defensive midfielder as the first line of defence, Arthur Wood was brought in to cover the vital role. Wood plays the position for Porthaven United, and is a calm and calculated defender.

#1 Tobias FORREST - Goalkeeper
Goalkeeper for the Tridents, Forrest made it into the national squad on the strength of last season's performance, when he let in a mere fifteen goals. Forrest is a very defensive goalkeeper, and will usually stay in the goalmouth rather than attempt to rush an oncoming player. The Sun's back-up goalkeeper, he is seen as being just as capable as Willans, and may play in important games to let WIllans have a break.

#25 Sam GARCIA - Goalkeeper
The usual goalkeeper for the San Baptiste Sea Lions, Garcia is a surprise inclusion into the team. The Sea Lions came last for the season, but thanks to Garcia, they still managed the second best "goals against" score that season, and Garcia found himself called up to the national squad as third goalkeeper.

The Football Federation of Legalese presents
the National Team Roster for the 64th World Cup Qualifying Campaign!

Keepers:
1 – Tarquin Waldrop, 24, Myre Town - Tarquin makes his second appearance in the Cup of Harmony, having lead Legalese as the started for three consecutive World Cup qualifying campaigns, and one finals appearance. Whilst his goals-allowed record is fairly strong, the most notable part of his CoH run was a goal scored by him in the penalty phase against Ko-oren; his attempt was the fifth and final one for Legalese, and sealed advancement to the semifinals. "The Wall", as he's known, is a key component of Legalese's hopes, having a goals-allowed average of 0.72.

22 - Noah Simpkin, 20, Rhinos

Defense:
2 – Benson Black, 22, The Knights of Tiberia - Ben hails from the Karin Islands, having grown up in Tyrellia. The defender is making his second appearance in the Cup of Harmony, though with rumors of a lineup shakeup, Black may very well move further up on the attack as needed.

3 - Liam Todd, 31, Argyle Warriors - The student has become the master. Liam Todd's international team stretches back to the early days of the Cushing era, but Liam was young then. Now, at age thirty one, he's the undisputed leader of the defense, standing guard over the center. The Numalia native is now the team's oldest defender, and has inherited the Captain's armband. His days of moving up on corners may be over, but make no mistake: he is crucial to making Tarquin's job as easy as possible.

4 – Irwin Boyd, 22, LC Captials - Boyd makes his first international start today, joining the back line of the defense with the retirement of long-time international Phil Livingston. The Legalese City native was a surprising choice; at 5'5", he will give up height to most anybody he faces on the outside, though it's hoped that his speed and marking abilities will make up for this disadvantage.

5 - Dwight Marcus, 25, Rhinos - Dwight continues in the starting lineup, having taken the role during qualifying. Born in Okerson but raised in Gavelton, Dwight feels like the polar opposite of his fellow outside back, Irwin; where Boyd is among the smallest players on the pitch, Dwight stands at 5'11", with a medium build that makes him hard to move off the ball. For him, timing and physicality are what make him successful, and will be needed to keep the Legal Eagles in contention.

13 – Kenny Stroud, 22, International of Tyrellia
15 – Cordell Wyman, 22, Francis City

Midfield:
6 – Jack Wayne, 29, Brecorn City - Jack is a product of the "in-betweeners"; despite being an older member of the team, his experience level is lower, in part to being one of the few team members to actually spend time in the military service, having reached the title of platoon sargeant during his three years in training. After leaving the service, Jack surfaced in Brecorn, accepting a chance to play for the club side, where he was noticed by Cushing, leading to his current position as a midfielder. His current position will have him as the central midfielder, handling distribution and possession.

7 - Monte Kelshimer, 29, Tiberian City - Monte retains his place in the lineup despite a largely uninspiring qualifying campaign. Time will tell if it's due to his experience, or Stan fearing that the options are no better. His speed should be helpful to the outside, however.

8 - Slade Brahm, 21, Draig Goch FC - Slade, a Francis City native, continues in the starting lineup as well, playing the outside. Known to be the fastest player in the nation, his ball-handling skills are moderate, but sufficient for his role.

12 - Lane Wilson, 24, LC Capitals
19 – Ty Henderson, 26, Tiberian City
20 – Titus Armistead, 24, The Knights of Tiberia
18 – Sherwood Hendry, 25, Ellentown Exempts

Forwards/Strikers:
9 - Xavier Boyle, 25, Bob’s Towing - Xavier returns to the starting lineup, having held a spot briefly during the first half of qualifying. His effort was a bit weak (if you ask his mother), but they apparently have high hopes for him, and his place has nothing to do with the fact that his mother works for the Director-General.

10 - Jimmy Jay, 31, Bob's Towing - Jimmy remains the mainstay, having not missed a start up front in six years. While generally used to the background, Jay was the leading scorer during qualifying, with nine goals total.

11 - Kelvin Bassford, 31, Draig Goch FC - He may not wear the shades anymore, but Bassford is the man. Legalese's first international star, the key player during both World Cup qualifications for the Legal Eagles. His statue awaits his retirement, but he's not ready yet, despite missing half of qualifying due to injuries and personal matters. We'll find out if it's all past him now.

17 - Blake Moor, 21, LC Capitals
24 - Ken Heath, Jr., 19, Knights of Tiberia

Manager: Stan Thate, 37 - Stan continues his first full campaign as NT manager, having served initially as assistant manager during the WC 63 qualifying attempt, and as interim manager during the Cup of Harmony; the hoisting of the cup helped ensure the dropping of the interim tag for Stan. A former national team goalkeeper himself, Thate had initially brought a different style to the team, backing a little off the all-out attack; after the trouble faced in World Cup 64, one can expect the team to press forward a little more than previously planned.

Assistant Manager: Rufus Teague, 43 - Rufus, from Tyrellia, is a bit of an oddity. While born and raised in the Karins, Teague spent his post-secondary days on the mainland, studying at Coastal University in Sagdineo, where he studied economics and statistics; after a five-year break to teach as part of the Federal Service program, he returned to Coastal part-time for his MBA, achieved four years later. His teaching in the Sagdineo Public Schools landed him at Bateman High, where he was recruited to coach the soccer team, in addition to covering business and finance in the classroom. It was here that he was discovered, tapped by Stan Thate to join the national team staff.

Quick notes:
-All ages are as of the start of the Cup of Harmony
-The usual starters are denoted by the jersey numbers 1-11, though if you feel the need to use a backup, go ahead.
-The standard starting lineup shall be a 4-3-2-1, with a Style Modifier of +3.

RP Permissions: Opponents who RP first shall, as pertaining to Legalese, have any and all permissions they offer in their roster's posted permissions, with the request to allow me to determine the length of any major injuries, and to not kill off any players unless requested and permitted. Should a player not post a roster and/or any RP permissions, they shall not be permitted a damn thing.

Just for context's sake, this series of RPs is based off of The Bastard NS Mod from Hell, which itself is a take on The Bastard Operator from Hell. This specific character is my own Bastard II Mentor from Hell, but for the context of this RP he is 'on a vacation' and looking to unwind from his 'Goosestepping Purification of the Roleplaying (II) Forums'. Standard disclaimer that this is intended as a parody and not to be taken seriously (don't worry, I am most certainly not a Nazi and if the persona seems a bit harsh, it's all in good humor). Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated by TG.

The Bastard II Mentor Sports RPer from HELL!
Year 1 - Volume 1
Things to Come
By: United Gordonopia - Bastard RPer alter-ego "UntersturmführerStriker Gordonopia"

I needed a vacation. I come to this forum spending my good RPing. I grace it with my pure RPing style, straight from the fatherland of II. And this is how they treat me? Dump me into a second-rate consolation tournament, the Cup of Discord, in the last week of qualifying?

Ah, no matter. At least in this tournament I'll be able to inflict the pain of defeat upon the happy-go-lucky starry-eyed young lads who had the misfortune to be drawn in my group. In the World Championship, I would have been the anonymous tourist stopping by, crossing my fingers that I'll get more than a ten second look at the 'real' NSSports. In the CoD, I'm the fat American in Havana at the height of Batista's reign. I do what I want. 'Aint no native going to tell me I don't need another drink.

Well, onto the poor bastards I have to play against. *Clicky

Hm... how interesting. The first name on the list, no, the first two, are oddly familiar. Nene-whatsisnameIthinkitssomethinglongandrussian and some rich fancy-pants Baron. Where was it again?

That's right! After racking my brain for a bit and taking a good swig of schnapps, I remember that both of them were at that crazy Baptism party I hosted for my brother awhile back. New guys in the neighborhood. Fit right in if I'm not mistaken. The fact that they'll probably recognize me will make it all the sweeter when my team wallops them right out of the running. I wonder if I can find one of those sketchy programs for seeing through webcams. I would love to see their faces when they see the scoreline.

The third name, and I suppose the closest thing I'll have to a bouncer at the bar, is fittingly Southern Havana. I guess my earlier metaphor couldn't have been more spot on. Let's see what he does when I pull the rank card on him. That does guarantee automatic victory in these lower tournaments, after all.

I adjust my Mentor Party sweatband as I get to work writing up a group preview; always good to at least have an idea of the lay of the land.

*Clicky clicky

Done. It's going to be one hell of a vacation. Hopefully I'll be able to remember it when I go back to purifying International Incidents.

The Karditan Robber Barons

Soccer is illegal in Karditan (though gaining a larger underground support, largely thanks to the national team qualifying for WC63). Thus, this is a team of criminals and corrupt businessmen. All players with no further notation are human.

Starting 11

Goalkeeper- Emanuel Portico. One of the most successful petty thieves in all of Karditan (as well as being surprisingly worldly, having spent several years hiding abroad), he is incredibly agile and specializes in predicting the movements of adversaries. While his reflexes are starting to dull as he progresses into his thirties, he's still an extremely skilled shot-stopper, having been the second-best keeper during WC63 qualification (let's not talk about WC63 itself). Happily married to Sweet Swing.

Left Back- Xavier Helm. A man oddly obsessed with the middle ages, he's suspected of several sword-, bow-, crossbow-, and trebuchet-related deaths. He swears that only the trebuchet ones were his fault, as he was still trying to figure out how a sexton worked. The rest he apparently just uses to hunt. Mostly deer, but it's not odd for him to bag the occasional mountain lion or bear. Plays in his full suit of armor, which slows him down (but not as much as might be expected. He's been training in that armor for a long time) but makes him much more intimidating.

Center Back- Porfirio Mendoza. The new commissioner of the Karditani Baseball League, Porfirio is a true sportsman who can appreciate any sport. He honestly does not understand the abhor the rest of Karditan has for soccer, and hopes to improve the sport's reputation. He's also a brilliant strategist, heading up one of the best defenses in the world.

Center Back- Dust Pan. [Unicorn] The head janitor in Silveen Eleco's Fillydelphia estate (see below), he is incredibly quick and maneuverable--taken from years of experience darting through needlessly elaborate hallways and corridors to fix and clean any problems that appeared anywhere on the massive grounds.

Right Back- Red Trotski. [Earth Pony] An infamous public speaker hailing from Moscolt. Hated pretty much universally for his vocal support of Communism, but isn't actually a criminal. Karditani free speech laws are pretty lenient. He has been known to make foals cry

Defensive Midfielder- Havr Milosivek. A freelancer who spends most of his time roaming the streets of Moscolt, Havr is a generally amiable guy who isn't afraid to smash a few shins if you push his buttons the wrong way. If his Russian accent gets thick enough that you can barely understand what he's saying, you should probably stay away from him; but that doesn't happen too often. Will sometimes have to leave the pitch temporarily to respond to calls from his cousin Roman.

Midfielder- Yong-Hu Cho. Leader of the largest Triad in Neighpon. A bit of an amateur in organized crime when compared to Korzado and Carnac (below), but still not a man you want to cross--he is far more focused on revenge and overt displays of superiority than the other two (which is very amateurish in a crime boss). Probably the most likely of the starting eleven to get red-carded. Also skilled at crossing.

Forward Midfielder- Sweet Swing. [Earth Pony] The one member of the Robber Barons who is neither a criminal nor a bad person pony. She's the daughter of famous Karditani golfer Tyre McIron, and happily married to Emanuel Portico.

Forward- Lightning Heart. [Buffalo] A bison with a bad temper. Really, that's it. More assault & battery convictions than you can shake a horn at. Isn't very swift, but few people will want to be in his way if he gets up to speed.

Forward- Korzado. [Zebra] One of the few Zebras in Karditan, Korzado runs the Illineigh Mafia. His influence can be found in almost every successful business venture in the city, as well as many in Detrot and Sinsinatti. A legion of all types of creatures serve him, and he might be the only being richer than Eleco (see below) in Karditan--but he doesn't flaunt his wealth like Eleco does. Almost all of it is re-invested, whether in businesses or bribes.

Striker- Mario Cansetta. One of the higher-ups in Korzado's organization, Mario is in charge of collecting protection fees in Sinsinatti as well as organizing the official unofficial street racing league of Karditan. He's generally good-natured (he tries to convince his clients to pay their fees because he genuinely doesn't want to beat them a new one), and is fiercely competitive. He'll take some bad shots, but it's damn hard for defenders to keep up with him.

Manager- Morrgo-Gerrna Thunder. [Bear] A former footballer and manager from Bears Armed, Morrgo-Gerrna was caught up in a technicality of the law and needs to spend some time outside the reach of the authorities. What better way for her to safely stay on the lam while also continuing her passion for football than managing the best criminal squad (and the second-best not-entirely-humanoid squad) in the multiverse?

Defensive Coach- Carnac Carson. The biggest personality in Karditani crime, Carnac is the guy you go to when you need a hookup. Everyone who is anyone has grabbed a beer with him at one point or another. Is rumored to have some future-telling powers.

Financier- Silveen Eleco. The Man in Karditan. He runs Eleco Industries, the largest company in Karditan's largest industry--Electronics. He inherited the moderately-sized business from his father, Sylvester, and grew it to enormous proportions with brilliant economics and some underhanded business practices. He organized the Robber Barons and put together their entry into the World Cup, maintaining a large role on the running of the team though he no longer plays.
