Thanks for the confidence guys, looking forward to (hopefully) a good tournament. I'll make a post once I get home later this evening in the signup thread with my plans for participant numbers and the tournament start date.

Please excuse the following nostalgia. After I posted my roster, I realized it has been a little over five years since I first started participating in the WBC. I remember first coming to the board then and seeing the fogies who had been around "forever," and now I know what that's like. I'm old! It seems like just yesterday I was signing up for that tournament, yet if I remember what I was doing in RL five years ago, it couldn't seem farther off. In a way, the WBC has been more of a positive constant in my life than a lot of other things. I'll be forever thankful for that. But not for not having won a championship yet. Still hungry. Still probably not going to have as much time to RP as much as I need to to make that happen. Oh well. Some things never change.

This does put in perspective how spoiled some of us have been with championships. I know what you mean though, when I returned to the World Cup for the last edition, I think I remembered two or three of my great names, but all I had to do was look at old posts here, see my retired numbers list, and right away I remembered what each of those players had done.

I wish I did that with the World Baseball Classic, though maybe I just thought about my plan for this one.

Hey, maybe this year will be the year?

Finally decided to update my roster. I think it actually looks good. My only problem is that the listing of positions in the batting orders have this visual curve to them that makes it looks like a bow. But perhaps that's just me.

I have literally never updated mine and RPed that the people in my nation are superstitious about changing it. XD

I didn't do genuine major updates until like 15 editions in or so. Have been much more conscious of it the past few cycles.

Ah, yes, that's true.

Really interested in how these groups shake out. If they do the same way as last year, Newmanistan and Tenburg could become quite well acquainted

I don't want to sound pushy, but I would ask our host to pin down an exact date where they'd be able to do the group draw. We don't want this tournament to lose momentum, and it has been two days since people were expecting the group draw to come. Again, I don't want to sounds pushy, but having a date would be the best thing moving forward.

Hopefully some clarity will come tonight.

I agree 100%. That is the host's responsibility.
