Welcome to Qazox and Mangolana, who will be your hosts for this 44th edition of the Baptism of Fire. This tourney is for the newer members of NSSports and is the opening event of the World Cup 57 Cycle.

The Baptism of Fire is one of the 3 most prestigous tourneys in NSSports, behind the World Cup itself and the Cup of Harmony. But this tourney is important, as it allows you newer teams a chance to earn your first KPB ranking points, which will help you during the upcoming World Cup. This tourney is only for teams that never have participated in a World Cup before, and may include any of the following: first time RPing nations, nations who are trying to RP in NSSports for the first time and puppets of nations that have been here before.

RPing is storytelling. The story of your team making their first foray into the international sporting world; or perhaps the story your nation responding to the events of this Baptism of Fire; or maybe the viewpoint from a player or coach on your team or even anything that has nothing to do with the event really.

Why so much emphasis on RPing for this event? Becuase, other than luck, RPing is what will eventually separate you from the other teams participating. RPing well and often is not only recommended, it's effects (known as an RP bonus) will help influence the random numbers that will produce the results. But just like poker, you can have the best hand going to the river, but every once in a while your opponent will catch that river flush. RPing DOES NOT guarentee winning, as almost everyone on NSSports can attest to. But it does help your cause more than not RPing. For more info about sports RPing please visit this link. We will penalize teams for having posts that are placeholder posts: (ie: Nation XYZ: Tagged for later RP). If you can't RP at that time, post it later, please instead of posting a placeholder.

How will Mangolana and myself determine who eventually will win this toruney? We will use something called a scorinator (which is a computer program which weighs different factors in order to somewhat randomly generate scores for sports games), in this case the latest version of xkoranate. A in depth view of Scorinators is here and can provide a better idea of how the scores are generated than we ever could. We will post scores everyday or night, depending where in the world you live.

Qazox and Mangolana's stadium and nation info will be posted shortly. The Group Draw will take place On Saturday, October 1st at approximately 11:00 pm EDT. The Schedule will be posted shortly thereafter and rosters will be linked after the schedule is posted. Mangolana's RP Cutoff will be approximately 8:30-9:00 pm EDT; while Qazox' RP Cutoff will be approximately 10:00-10:30pm EDT, witht he scores to be posted shortly there after.

All nations listed above can begin posting their RP's and roster information. Your roster can be anything from asimple list of your players' names and positions, or include more biographical details. Along with the roster, you can choose a style modifier ranging from +5 to -5. The more positive the style, the more likely you are to score and concede goals, but style modifier has no influence on the result or margin of victory.

You should also indicate what your opponents can, or cannot do, if they RP first, such as bolding "Y" or "N" in this RP permissions box.

Godmodding, for those that may not know, would be having a series of extremely unlikely events occuring during the match. Such as a meatball falling off a plate of a fan, rolling down the steps and onto the field just in time to stop your opponent's penalty kick attempt in the 90th minute, preserving a 1-0 win for your team. If you do face an opponent who does not have GODMOD on then feel free to do whatever you wish in your RP, provided you do follow the above permissions.

Qazox is one of the more socially relaxed nations in NSSports. Almost everything is legal here, except for hard drug use, murder, and please not touch the oxen. We do warn you that Qazians do have a relaxed dress code outside of the main cities, meaning we do walk around nude. But for visitors we do wear clothing as to not cause offense. But if your players do visit some of our nation outside the cities which will be hosting the matches, please keep that fact in mind.

The Climate in Qazox is temperate and the temperatures during the BoF should be between the low 50's in Fromburg and Pika City to the low 80's in New Bruxen. Once the groups have been drawn, the stadium to be used for each match will be listed for each matchday.

Official squad for the 44th Baptism of Fire competition in Qazox and Mangolana

1. Kris Joyce (GK, 32, FC Alaer)
A smart goalkeeper who won't make many blinding saves, but is very rarely caught out of position. Led his team to a domestic league title last season.
2. Daniel Ortega (RB, 20, Roulson Rovers)
A prodigious young talent, already selected for the all-Rushmori XI to play Atlantian Oceania, Ortega is a short and stocky defensive full-back who is deceptively fast and strong. Led an unheralded side to their best ever league finish last season, and is expected to move to a bigger club, possibly abroad.
3. Shaun Duggan (CB, 29, FC Alaer)
Another part of Alaer's title-winning side, Duggan is the stereotypical "big man at the back", and will pick up a few too many cards in the process of fighting aerial and ground battles with unprepared strikers. Will happily take a penalty too, the fool.
4. Thomas Kennard (CB, 31, Capitolians)
Not as physically powerful as Duggan, but good positional abilities have helped him maintain an excellent disciplinary record.
5. Tim Chappell (LB, 23, FC Alaer)
A defensive full-back, maybe not quite the talent that Ortega is, but cut from the same cloth, and he's only getting better. Yes, that's a third Alaer defensive player in the team; that's what you get when you concede only 21 goals in 30 games en route to a league title.
6. Howard Crawley (LM, 29, Borlfield Town)
The local boy made good in an expensively assembled team that broke into the top four last season, his key strength is his stamina, developed in part from running up the steep hills in the area.
7. Armin Hassani (DM/CM, 21, AFC Edencliff)
"A young man doing an old man's job," so the lazy newspaper cliché goes when it comes to this defensive-minded central midfielder. Has the stamina to sweep up loose balls all day long, and won't offer opponents many loose balls in return with his short passing consistency.
8. Sven Vandenbergh (RM/RW, 24, Bay City United)
The key flair player in the national side, Vandenbergh's tricks and flicks - plus his penchant for the odd long-range netbuster - helped Bay City United score 70 goals in a league where only one other team even managed 40.
9. Jan-Willem Snyder (CF, 25, Bay City United)
His connection with Vandenbergh made him the league's top scorer, with 21 goals in 28 appearances. He will move fluidly around the attacking third, and his shooting is unerringly precise. Creates chances for others, too, but won't win any aerial battles.
10. Cameron Upson (ST, 30, FC Alaer)
Top-scored for the champions with 16, including a league-high seven headers. The key aerial threat in the team.
11. Guy Stamp (CF, 21, Southill Rovers)
A creative player who thrives in a free role behind one or more strikers. Inconsistent, but on his day almost unplayable, he is mostly used off the bench for now.
12. Caine Falamoe (GK, 19, Vengife Town)
A hero in the aboriginal capital of Vengife, and the only aboriginal in the squad. Recalls being excluded from school gymnastics clubs, but used his acrobatic prowess as a goalkeeper instead, and he is already known as the nation's best shot-stopper. Once his positional awareness improves, he will be the number 1 for many years.
13. Recasang Chezlot (CM, 25, Bay City United)
The most superstitious man on the team. He insists on wearing the number 13 "to uncurse the number", prays to Margaret before every game... oh, and picks out long passes better than anyone in the country, for good measure.
14. Shuke Cliriputed (RB/RM, 27, Bay City United)
While he plays right-back for his club, the presence of Ortega means his appearances for his country will almost certainly be in midfield. Unusually for a wide man, he's rarely seen dribbling - more usually, he'll win the ball and pass it straight to a team-mate before you can say his awkward Vephra name.
15. Alexis Aubin (CM, 29, FC Alaer)
A worker bee of a midfielder, similar to Hassani but more inclined to support the strikers. And not quite as energetic now he's almost 30, hence being on the bench.
16. Derek McIntyre (LF/CF/ST, 19, Aardswood United)
Nobody outside the top two clubs scored more than his twelve goals last season, and his attacking versatility makes him an obvious "supersub" for his country. He's only just turned 19, and will potentially be devastating in the future.
17. Alfie Nix (SW/CB, 21, Borlfield Town)
Much of Borlfield's success last season was attributed to the emergence of Nix mid-season. Usually playing as the last line of defence, he could also push forward and attack, and he even added three goals - all from outside the box - with his powerful left-footed shot.
18. Dean Wickens (LB, 20, Bravin Rangers)
It was a season of struggle for the team from the garrison town of Bravin, but they found a young warrior in this left-back, who showed the fighting qualities and physical strength that the Rangers fans prize so much. He's a raw talent, but he's got all the tools to succeed.
19. Norbert Naugle (RM/AM, 21, Kartarak Wanderers)
Whether deployed down the middle or on the right, Naugle's array of passes and deft touches made him central to his team's attacking play. Tries too much at times, but an undoubted talent.
20. Torossud Sanani (CB/DM, 26, Cornham Town)
Not a lot he could do for a relegated side that had an aversion to scoring, but he impressed enough with his man-marking and tackling that he's in the national team squad. Probably won't play, though.
21. David Callow (CB, 21, Aardswood United)
A mature central defender for his age, though he has no other outstanding qualities, and won't be in the starting lineup any time soon.
22. Arkadiusz Abramovicz (AM/CF, 22, FC Alaer)
The key flair player for the champions, injured for the Copa Rushmori and badly missed, but his place in the national team is far from assured. Expect to see him rotated in and out.
23. Josh Calveley (GK, 33, Borlfield Town)
The veteran goalkeeper was an important signing for Borlfield, and is in the team on club form, but he's not the future. He's there more to help the younger players feel at home.

Ok... Signups for the 44th Baptism of Fire are closed at 52 teams (which are listed in the OP).

As such, there will be 4 groups of six teams and 4 groups of seven teams participating. The six-team groups will play 5 games and the seven-team groups will play six games. The six-team groups will have one Matchday off and recieve an average RP bonus for that day.

The top three teams from each group will automatically qualify for the playoffs (24 teams). To ensure a fairer seeding process, the teams from the 7-team groups will NOT have their result against the 7th placed team in their groups count towards their record. For example Team EDC from a 7-team group finishes with a record of 5-1-1 (+7 GD) and beat the 7th placed team in their group and Team TGB from a 6-team group finishes with a 4-1-1 record (+8 GD). Team TGB would get the higher playoff seed, after taking out the result against the 7th placed team vs. EDC.
