It seems a little ridiculous that somebody over seven feet tall could be considered "undersized." But when you live in a nation where the average height is 7'5", anybody below that number will find it difficult to succeed as a professional athlete. They're resigned to the fate that many underhyped athletic prospects suffer: life at a mid-major college program. You could have excellent skills and game IQ for your sport of choice, but you're not going to get attention from big programs if you're small. You'll go to the lower tier of college, fighting for your life to be recognized alongside your teammates, who are either experiencing your same dilemma or the opposite: physically gifted in stature but less impressive in the game skill department.

This type of struggle is universal among nations with robust high school and collegiate athletic programs. Drawkland is unique in the fact that those physically undersized but game gifted prospects are still much larger than their counterparts overseas (or overportal, however you like to call it). Normally these recruits don't have the means or wherewithal to do anything but resign themselves to the fate of lower-tier ball. Still a scholarship, still an opportunity to get an education for free or cheap, and the tiny chance of being recognized by scouts for your clearly superior talents stays alive. In the "modern" era where the NSCF gets national broadcast coverage in Drawkland, some aspiring high school athletes realize they have more options at their disposal.

A seven foot three wide receiver may be wholly ignored by Drawkian recruiters, but that height combined with good football skills would make any coach in a fully human nation salivate. Five seniors on the offensive side of the ball, from five different areas of the country, have decided to send their recruiting tapes out to coaches across the NSCF. All five are undersized by Drawkian standards and felt dissatisfied with their current offers from Drawkian schools. They believe that their football talents are up there with top tier college players. Whether that's true remains to be seen, but their high school tape looks great. These players are currently listed on the recruiting sheet and hope to commit to a program with long-term viability in NSCF.

To reiterate, unlike the Gelia boys from Fulton Prep from a couple cycles ago, these players don't know each other. It's merely a coincidence they all decided to attempt international recruiting this cycle. Note that each of these players developed a playstyle typical of a smaller player at their position, so they may have trouble adjusting to becoming "the tall guy" in their rule at a human university. Whether this revitalizes their playstyle or causes them to fold from the change in archetype is up to you.

Duke Miller
Position: Running Back
Height: 7'2"
High School: Gravos Creek High School, Esmereldane, Callagardet
Duke Miller has been called "compact" and "shifty." Short and a bit chunky for a running back, Miller still maintained his status as the workhorse in his junior and senior years at Gravos Creek, a public high school in Esmereldane. He got a majority of snaps, not just for running the ball but in the passing game as well. This was more out of necessity - Miller prefers to run the ball between the tackles but he'd been forced to play more as a scat back due to his size. Even so, he puts 100% into every task, and that's turned into quite a versatile back (not that any top-level programs in Drawkland have taken any notice).

Colt Atreus
Position: Tight End
Height: 7'1"
High School: Otto Ventos High School, Masteser, Malicollet
Colt Atreus is simply fearless. He's definitely stockier than the average Drawkian, though that assessment is partially caused by him being a little shorter than his peers. Atreus originally tried to be an offensive tackle in high school, but his shorter size made him less-than-ideal at the position. His coaches discovered that he was actually pretty decent at catching, so Atreus was converted to tight end. This ended up working really well, as he became his high school's leading receiver by receptions and yards in his upperclassman years. His size forced to be more of an underneath and short route receiver, but compared to humans he may be able to snag deep balls. He still takes his blocking very seriously though, and he could be considered like an extra O-lineman whenever he has to block for a play. Even against bigger competition, he always fights hard to protect his backfield.

Bryce Crowley
Position: Wide Receiver
Height: 7'3"
High School: Valeyard County High School, Westval, Iarocavet
Bryce Crowley is short and slight. Not exactly what you'd want from you average wide receiver, but Crowley makes up for it with elite route running, dependable hands, and some impressive speed. Despite his two years of dominance once he actually started getting snaps and hometown being in rural Iarocavet (where scouts are a little more present than rural areas elsewhere in Drawkland), Crowley has hardly been given the time of day. His speed isn't that gamebreaking compared to the average blue chip receiver recruit, and most Drawkian scouts see him as a slot receiver with a low floor and high ceiling. Being in an environment where he's able to play more roles in a passing offense could be what he needs to turn his career around, but can you trust him to be a 1-on-1 or deep threat against humans when he's never had to consistently be that sort of player?

Kylan Bourne
Position: Quarterback
Height: 7'4"
High School: Debrask County High School, Holton, Elzidanet
Kylan Bourne had things tough throughout his childhood. On top of family issues, he was shorter than all his peers and his "growth spurt" (if you could call it that) didn't come until late his junior year. Growing up in the middle of nowhere made things even tougher. Despite this, Bourne has developed into a tenacious and never-say-die type quarterback. He's loved football since childhood and even with his shorter stature, he's pumped himself into having a rocket arm with deadly accuracy, whenever he can actually see over his O-lineman. His deep game leaves something to be desired, especially since his coaches switched the playbook to be more focused on shorter routes to make things easier for Bourne. That didn't stop him from racking up the most passing yards in school history twice in a row (breaking his own junior record in his senior year). He believes he's a legitimately good quarterback, but his "smaller" hands and height, as well as a propensity to play hero-ball, are too much of a demerit to warrant attention from top Drawkian outfits. With the height skills tipped in the opposite direction, though, Bourne could turn into a fearsome field general.

Damian Leblanc
Position: Center
Height: 7'0"
High School: Perry H. Samuels High School, Bethelm, Kanyoet
Damian Leblanc is a born leader. He had a tough road, never getting the growth spurt that most of his classmates got, but he persisted and played football through high school. He's gained considerable weight and muscle as an ironman offensive and defensive lineman, but that does little to change the fact that he's usually the shortest guy on the field. Still, he's a gifted blocker and cerebral player. He could really be the anchor of an elite offense line, if any program would give him the time of day. He works great in tandem, but obviously has some trouble isolated against beefy defensive tackles. Against human-sized tackles, though, it'll be a much fairer fight. That's what Leblanc says, anyway. If anything else, he'll be great for raising the team's GPA rate.

Richardson's Road Kings:
Manlio Gets His Revenge, Governors Look to Wrap Up Road Trip With the Rebel's Cannon Bowl in Memphis

Richardson's already missed one of their goals this season by ceding the Big 8 to Cold Hill. That was effectively a wrap the second Dante Flowers torched them in week 3 - but Dex Banka bounced back. Richardson lost just once more in week six. And since? They're winners of six straight, including beating Cold Hill in week ten and Mar Sara Tech in week eleven. And now, in the second straight road trip of an out-of-conference slate that doesn't feature a home game, they've defeated their celebrated offensive coordinator's last stop in the Skyhawks.

Dex Banka was a big signing for this program - the top recruit in Banija and by far the highest graded recruit the team had locked in at quarterback since Ifeatu Chineze. Betst overall is up for debate - Scott Yadav's handoffs were certainly higher quality. But the problem was, offensive coordinator John Glassner is a vocal hater of the forward pass. Dex Banka was on a leash for an offense that just wasn't suited to him. The Governors hardly had a passing attack his freshman year, with he and Scott Yadav combining for eleven touchdown passes and just over two thousand yards on the season. So Glassner was fired. Kasen Harrowitz had a shortlist of course - but he also managed to keep a tab on his old conference, he came from the Horizon, after all.

So when he saw the drama they knew about at Sadeg - which wasn't much - he knew it was worse on the inside. There had to be tension. And the Skyhawks had underperformed, but he'd coached against them. Brad Manlio was a great offensive mind, and Kasen spoke with the athletic director first. Greg Clemens wasn't happy about it, but he approved the paycheck they'd need. So he made the call, fired Glassner mid season, and got Manlio on board.

Early results weren't great, but how could they have been? They couldn't install an entire new offense in a week. Ever since? Brilliance.

Brad Manlio's led Richardson to score just north of 31 points per game this season - a season ago, they didn't even crack 20 per outing. Dex Banka has gone from showing flashes by making remarkable throws on less-than-ideal route patterns to turning freshman wideout Chad McOxley into a sensation. He's torching defenses, having put up cleared the triple century mark and tossed three scores in each of the last three games. Banka's less than two hundred yards shy of becoming the second Richardson quarterback to clear four thousand passing yards since Ezekiel Bantoba(mania) did it in NSCF 23! A decade ago! And he's already become the first to break the 30 touchdown threshold in that time frame.

Despite some absurd heat from the Richardson fanbase, Dex Banka has produced like nothing short of a superstar in his sophomore campaign. Brad Manlio may have worn out his welcome in Sadeg, but left purely to his machinations as an offensive guru, he's been just that. "I just call the plays," he said at a pregame presser before their trip to Sadeg, "This is about my players, not me."

Despite that his insistence, he definitely felt something before this one. Cameras caught an emotional reunion with quarterback Brooklyn Beck, with Manlio appearing to nearly come to tears despite their reportedly rocky relationship. An ugly split it may have been, but Manlio certainly still cares about his old players, and this game certainly meant more to him as a result. It showed.

The Richardson offense didn't get a shot immedietely - because Jack Archer was off today. He was noticeably lacking his visor, something that turned him into a completely different player in his freshman campaign, and he froze up on the kick return, looking sluggish and unsure of himself before a Skyhawk tee'd off on him and sprinted straight through him. Archer quite literally went spinning through the air as the Skyhawk kick team dove on the ball, their crowd already roaring at their good fortune. It wasn't long before Brookyln Beck converted that costly turnover into seven. And suddenly, you had to ask - the Skyhawks probably figured their season wasn't over. This win would be huge for them. And getting the ball at halftime, well, they may have a real shot at making a statement here.

Yeah that lasted not very long. Gone was the Richardson of old - Brad Manlio called Dex Banka's number and his quarterback delivered. No slants to warm up, no handoffs to bludgeon the defense, the Governors went right for the neck from the jump. It was a designed bootleg - Banka got out of the pocket, looked deep, and threw the ball on an absolute rope. Xavier Lowell had gotten put on his back foot early in the snap when McOxley went right at his hips, and with his back turned, he practically spun in a full circle before he even reacted to the deep comeback route. McOxley snagged it thirty yards downfield, spun away from a diving Lowell, and picked up another twenty plus of RAC before all was said and done. Malik Starcevich took a handoff for six yards on the next play, but subbed out for two-way freshman Vincent Hwang-Dalbec not long after. The second wonder of Bonneville? He got it done. He ran a wheel route to perfection, but was still covered well. Banka's pass had to be perfect, practically at Hwang-Dalbec's ankles, and the budding star snagged it just before it hit the turf before backing into the end zone.

The coaches gave the go ahead for the two pointer - Manlio wanted the lead here - but unfortunately Grant McKendrick broke up the pass attempt there to retain their lead.

But despite the early momentum and the small buff they got from the failed two point, Sadeg's offense couldn't get anything going. Offensively focused this season or not, Kasen Harrowitz is a defensive genius. Opponents taller than you? Just spam the absolute hell out of the dip-and-rip. Fortunately for Richardosn, both of their edge rushers had made the All-Big 8 roster, and Terrance Savage in particular was a speed rush specialist. Landon Rayne and Levi McNair played hard press coverage on the outside, the defensive line sold out on containing the edges, and the occasional blitz from Cassius North basically left Brooklyn Beck fending off a bunch of half-sized humans on every snap. Sure, it was tough to wrap up her legs and get her on the ground, but the pressure was unrelenting, the hits were constant, and time was nonexistent.

"We wanted to make sure to keep her from getting comfortable," Kasen Harrowitz said at the presser, "Beck is always a dual threat, but when she gets into rhythm, the Skyhawks can spot three touchdowns on you before you know what happened. So pressure was our main goal, and of course, we had to contain Jace Phoenix."

Easier said than done - normally the Governors are content to leave superstar corner Landon Rayne on an island for entire games, the guy just does not give up catches. But between Phoenix's production and the height discrepancy, they weren't that arrogant. A team effort of Othieno Kanyaswa and Scott Williams - both underclassmen - made sure that Rayne at a minimum had help overtop, but more often than not they were throwing brackets on Phoenix. The defense was able to play lockdown for the rest of the first half, allowing just a few first downs while Dex Banka piled on two more touchdown passes to go into the half up 20-7. The Governors looked untouchable here.

The Skyhawks did start to make a bit of a push at halftime though - they were always going to make it interesting. Brooklyn Beck connected with Jace Phoenix thrice despite the extra attention thrown his way. The drive stalled out and the long field goal was just short, but at least they were moving. And the defense, for once this season, actually managed to get a stop. How? Well, Dex Banka made a wrong read, dumped it off to Chad McOxley on a quick spot route, aaand just as the ball hit his hands he got decked so hard the entire rowdy stadium could hear the hit. He did not secure the catch. And with some momentum, the Skyhawks gave it their best shot.

After a couple first downs, BB decided to just rip it, and she was rewarded. Landon Rayne, who hadn't allowed a touchdown all season, got left all alone when Scott Williams jumped the double move, and boy did Rayne get put on a poster for it. He looked like a little kid playing with his dad, jumping and reaching in vain just to barely reach Phoenix's eye level while the receiver easily caught the ball overhead then held a flat hand over Rayne's helmet.

Listen, a short guy might've been used to it. But at six foot one, Rayne was livid. The Governors' star corner tried to come after Jace Phoenix, threw a punch, missed, and then kept swinging while Phoenix stiff armed his helmet and looked at the officials, disinterested. The flags flew, the Governors pulled Rayne off, and the Skyhawks lined up for the two point conversion - if they could hold Richardson to three, it'd still be a two point game that way.

Instead, Brooklyn had literally no time at all. Vincent Hwang-Dalbec was at linebacker now, and he went completely unblocked. Beck literally never saw him coming. She tried to keep her posture, but eventually she folded at the waist and her last-second attempt at a pass floated uselessly out of bounds.

That was about it in terms of bright spots for the Skyhawks. Sure, there were a couple other impressive catches from Phoenix, a few times Brooklyn Beck was able to escape a sack or pick up yards on a scramble to turn nothing into something, but they never threatened to score again, and Richardson put this thing away decidedly with a fourth quarter touchdown run by Malik Starcevich and a field goal on the following drive.

Down 30-13, a comeback was possible sure, until Brad Manlio - shocking those who thought he was a vengeful man - reverted to the Old Ways. Richardson got three more drives following that last score. Fourteen plays, fourteen handoffs. Eight to Malik Starcevich, four to Hwang-Dalbec and two to Jack Archer, who despite the win still appeared rattled, and finished the day with four touches for three yards. Weird.

But Richardson's work is far form over - they've got one more road trip to make, and this time it's in Memphis, Ranoria. On the twentieth anniversary of the death of Richardson legend Derek McNair, the stars seemed to align. His sons are both starting in the NSCF. Elishah McNair as a wideout for Loyola-Istria after an extended mission tirp, and Levi at corner for the Richardson University Governors after beating out Bill Jameson for the starting job midseason.

The traditionally neutral venue game will take place in Memphis. Some argued that it should've been in Dietrich Stadium, but with the Memphis Steamers renaming their stadium McNair Memorial, it was only fitting to play in the place where he dominated the league as a professional. And better yet - both teams have looked dominant through twelve weeks leading into the biggest game of the NSCF season with ten wins apiece.

Washed Buffalo Squad Notches a Second Controversial Win

Inspired football, the death throes of a blue blood, or Fluffalo magic? The world may never know

In a matchup of conference champions, Cold Hill managed to decisively bring down the Blue Jays for the second straight campaign, bringing down the previously 12-0 squad in The Tundra. Much like the game against the Firehawks, weather was a big factor, with heavy snow coming throughout the game, if not as windy as it was a week prior.

Of course, everybody knows that birdy birds don’t like the snow, so that already wasn’t a great idea. Larry CunningHIM might be enough to overcome the possession philanthropist on most days, but when you throw in the weather and a raucous crowd, that simply wasn’t the case.

“We’re playing for our lost brother,” Dante Flowers again referenced the late Miles Jackson in the postgame interview, “The Blue Jays are a tough team, but we’ve got more behind us than they do. We want the playoffs to run through Cold Hill.”

Thanks to (another) brilliant Derek Boss deflection to end the drive, they had a shot. It was Dante Flowers who put this thing away - though, not without some help.

This game was tight for fifty five minutes of football, with the Buffalo just barely holding a lead throughout the fourth quarter, 16-13. Dante Flowers was driving - he hasn’t had the monstrous, forty-five hundred yard season he did in NSCF 32, but he’s still producing, and he’s still been clutch. After hitting Jordan Martinez on a deep post to get into the red zone, the Blue Jays were in panic mode. Flowers was fired up in the cold, looking every bit of the future top pick on this drive.

They were going for it all on the final shot - Earl Silverman made his cut at the ten and cut towards the corner. Flowers saw it just a second late and ripped it - throwing a rope when a back-shoulder loft would’ve won the game. Alejandro Matthews had a shot at it - the senior’s eyes lit up, he spun a hundred eighty degrees, ready to snag the ball out of the air and get the ball back to the guy who’d piloted them to a 12-0 Mineral Conference Champion season. Larry CunningHIM didn’t get that name for nothing - that mullet, in the clutch? This is what this team was built for, if you deny the allegations of the MidCon being just that.

Then, just as he he went to jump it happened.

Fluffalo the Buffalo must’ve been irritated about something, because he let out one heck of a bellow and grumble, loud enough to cut through the low murmur of a tense crowd, and Matthew’s started, stumbling mid jump. The ball just barely nicked his finger tips, barely disrupted the spiral, and the crowd roared as Silverman held it overhead in triumph.

The kick made it 23-13, and with under five to play in the snow, this thing was practically over. The Blue Jays would not be the first team since Cold Hill’s NSCF 25 campaign to go undefeated in the regular season - and the Buffalo have Fluffalo to thank for premium playoff position. Not that it matters. This team is held together by the the aura of Derek Boss’s singular intact rip and the occasional strand of Fluffalo hair

Top Seven South Newlandian Recruits

#7 EDGE Sajo Richards (Harold Wilson High School, Walstreim)
(1x Champion)
After a monster freshmen season, Richards didn’t quite become the superpowered recruit many expected him to become. Likewise, ever since winning a surprise Championship in Richards’ freshmen year, HWHS has also regressed to a middle-of-the-pack team. Richards is a very talented rusher, and has the physical tools to compete at the next level. Academically, there’s been ups and downs, but he should do well enough.

#6 K Kyle Barnes-Ahmed (Elephant Valley Southwest High School)
(2x STPOY)
One of the best kickers South Newlandia has produced yet, Barnes-Ahmed has been extremely accurate from inside 40 and has enough power to still hit plenty from 50. The Two-time Special Teams Player of the Year has a lot of potential to produce at the next level, and should be a reliable kicker. The Golden Elephants Home Stadium, much like most South Newlandian stadiums, does not have a roof, so he’s used to dealing with the elements, too. Unremarkable academics, but he’ll probably be okay.

#5 CB Sarah Leon (Paachang High School, Jagomir)
(3x Champion)
Part of the no-fly zone that led Paachang to a threepeat, including the lowest passing yards allowed in modern Bog 7 history. Although Leon usually only covered second options, which in the B7 isnt saying much, she excellent, and also proved to be a surehanded tackler and good student. She’s quite tall, but doesn’t have elite speed; still, she’s been very effective.

#4 C Malik Makavan (Beachside High, Kinjestad)
Malik is the younger brother of Abdullah-Aadi, who attended he same high school and played the same position before him. Takes after his big brother and actually places one recruiting spot higher than he did half a decade ago. Just like AAM, he also long-snaps, and while he’s a little better academically, he does share his love for Snow Bears as well.

#3 DE Anna Gwenderyn (Beachside High, Kinjestad)

Anna Gwenderyn has Chromatik roots, and excelled in South Newlandia as a defender. She’s been great against both the run and the pass, and somewhat surprisingly won the Defensive Player of the Year award ahead of other great players. She is one of the best defensive linemen the B7 has seen lately, so its not undeserved – she’s also an excellent student. She may be leaning towards a Chromatik school for her college career.

#2 TE Laura Hill (Elephant Valley Northern)
South Newlandia is known for producing Tight Ends that can block and catch, and Hill is no exception. Despite very underwhelming QB play at Northern, she’s been able to lead all other TEs in South Newlandia in yardage and touchdowns by a sizable margin. Hill has never sought the biggest spots in her life, and would likely be happy playing outside of a Sporting Region, such as in Dhemixia. Hill also did tremendously well academically, and should do excellent in any college.

#1 CB Gerald Fisher (Paachang High School, Jagomir)
(3x Champion, 1x DPOY, 2x Finals MVP)
One of the best prospects out of South Newlandia in recent memory, Fisher is an elite corner who’s been absolutely vital to the Paachang threepeat. Part of the no-fly zone, he routinely locked up the best options on any team in the Big 7, and justifiably won plenty of awards; including two Finals MVPs, a rare achievement for a defender to achieve, let alone in consecutive years. Arguably robbed of the DPOY in his senior season. With length, speed, and excellent ball-tracking, he will be an asset anywhere. Did just enough academically, but has shown he can come through when it matters.

This year, it's Matong Sports Television who have the rights to broadcast the Rebel's Cannon Bowl, and they are going all-out in their coverage. Doing a live pregame show in the morning, outside McNair Memorial, they've got Banijan legendary journalist Allison Kargbo leading the show, alongside three studio analysts- Justice Greenspan(a former Loyola player and position coach), Klaus Levas(a former NMU player), and as a guest analyst, Johnny Farmer- RU alumnus.

Allison Kargbo: "Hello and welcome to Memphis Renoria for a special episode of Banijan College football Today. We are live at the site of this year's rebels Cannonball one of the biggest we've seen in many many seasons. We have Loyola-Istria sitting at 9-3, facing off against Richardson who sit at 10-2. Both are definitely playoff teams, and even beyond that- both teams have legitimate title hopes. It's a 2 hour pre-game show, and for the first hour, considering the venue, they talk about Derek McNair. They talk about his life, and his death, and feature in on his two sons who are playing in this game- one on either side. They talk about how emotional the trip must be for each player, and Elishah McNair is shown, briefly, giving pre-recorded answers about his love for his brother, and how his father's legacy impacts him to this day.

In the second hour, they talk about various other games happening here in Week 13, and then the focus starts on this game.

Allison Kargbo: "Alright Justice, let's start with you. Give it to me straight- can Loyola win?"

Justice Greenspan: "Abso-freaking-lutely. Have you seen the boys? Celestia champs- RU hasn't won anything this year. And now that Sebowa is balling-"

Johnny Farmer: "Please, please, please. Sebowa- I mean look at him. He's okay. He had a decent regular season in the Celestia Conference at best. But in his two highest pressure games of the season well you can see how he did. He was absolutely awful- yes I know I know he beat NMU- who's not even that good- and he beat what, the Islamic University? A Busogan school. Please. When it came to win a conference championship dash. he absolutely choked. 71 passing yards in the Celestia Conference Championship game. Let me repeat. SEVEN. ONE. Absolutely terrible. He got bailed out by his defense. And that NEVER happens at Loyola. Capital NEVER. The luckiest **** on the planet. If Isaka had a defense like that, He'd have won three titles.

And then against MDU. Formerly FSU. Whatever you want to call them. Hell, man, I'm sure if they put on Cass Tech helmets, they would still wreck Loyola. They own the Blue Thunder so hard. They barely even talk about that man. 39-13, utterly embarassing. 0-4 against MDU. He's back to the Sebowa we all know and love. Today at McNair? My prayers go out to Elishah, because what MDU did to Loyola will be child's play.

Justice Greenspan: "WHOA! Brother, hang on. You think he's gonna show up here and talk about all like that and I'm not gonna respond? Absolutely not- absolutely not! You don't know anything at all about what you're talking about. This young man, Sebowa Jawara, is the real flippin deal. People say he's played himself out award contention or any of that crap. And look- everybody's got an opinion. But he's a baller. He's always been a baller, and he's always will be. So what's gonna happen- he wrecked you guys last year and we weren't even good. Now that we got a good **** team this year he's about to come out here and cook. He's gonna show everybody that that no flash in the pan. He's the real deal, and he's a great inheritor of the Jawara legacy. We'll see him in the playoffs= but first that rebels cannon is gonna be wheeled onto the field, gonna be fired by the blue thunder at the end of the game, and we're wheeling it back to Loyola.

At that point, the arguing between Justice and Johnny devolves considerably. The arguments are getting more and more heated, and the NMU guy interjects with potshots about Loyola football, and tries to talk about NMU's pair of tremendous non-conference road victories. At the end of the show, Klaus Levas gives his score predictions for every single game this week.

Unprecedented! Hudson Charles Sets School Record in Dominant Win over Blue Thunder

After losing a tight matchup against Cold Hill, the margin of error for Mountain District was far slimmer. Facing the Celestia Champions in Loyola-Istria, who was having a bounce-back year, the team was extremely motivated to make a strong push for making the NSCF Playoff Field. What nobody expected, though, was that Hudson Charles - the Quarterback brought in after three games to replace a struggling Nicole Estera, the same Quarterback that had sat on the bench for three years before this season - would set a school record that not even the likes of Sarai Gwenderyn and Kadesh Odika had managed to in the past.

Charles set a new Firehawks record for completing his first twenty-three passes to go along with a day in which he went twenty-seven of thirty for three hundred seventeen yards and four touchdowns, the Firehawks defense clamped down on the Blue Thunder in the second half, and the home team made this one look easy, running away with it to win by a score of 39-13 after it was 16-13 at halftime.

The biggest notable difference between Charles and his predecessors is his pinpoint accuracy. He doesn't have the rocket arm of Gwenderyn nor the mobility and flair of Odika, but he is excellent at recognizing the pressure at the line of scrimmage, has a quick release, and knows how to read the defense. This was apparent in how he ran the first three drives of the game, where he went seventeen of seventeen to lead to two touchdowns and a field goal, Nora Fauske and Pia Solem being the recipient of the touchdowns. Each throw was under twenty yards, each throw was on time, and as the offensive line held, Charles completely tore up the Blue Thunder defense. Later on, when he threw his first incompletion, it was a throwaway to avoid a sack when the Blue Thunder had brought in an overloaded blitz; he then continued on by throwing one of the only two throws of more than twenty yards he would the entire game - up the field to Wayne Knight, the team's deep threat.

Don't let the irregular score fool you - if it wasn't for an extra point that was partially blocked, it would've read 40-12 - four touchdowns and four field goals. Freya Odinsdóttir and the defense did the rest, forcing the Blue Thunder into back-to-back three-and-outs in the Third Quarter that put it out of reach, giving Charles chances to put the game away - which he did. Mountain District didn't punt until midway through the Fourth Quarter, and the Firehawks faithful had a very easygoing day after the midway point of the Third Quarter.

"He (Charles) knows what he's good at, and that's making sure that his throws are going to be in very, very tight windows," explained Head Coach Naia Curentino after the game, "We know that if we can buy him the time, he'll get the ball to exactly where only the receiver can catch it, and nowhere else. Credit to the line for buying him the time that he needed today, but he was excellent. It's definitely not like playing with Sarai (Gwenderyn) or Kadesh (Odika), but we've the perfect receivers to go along with him for this style, and he's really come into his own."

It helps that this is also how Nicole Estera played - even though her throws were far quicker. Add in the fact that Charles is much taller (four inches to be exact), has the size to boot, and has a sharp mind, and it's obvious why this is working.

Mountain District improves to 8-4 - 7-2 with Charles at the helm. The end the season on Senior Night, facing recent rivals Raynor University in a game that could see the Firehawks catapult into the top four seeds, other results pending.

All with a King at the helm of it all.

Somehow, no matter the record, no matter the game, no matter the opponent, Craig Kelly always finds a way to remind people why he's called "The Possession Philanthropist" and fumbles the bag right at the last hurdle, right when people start to have hope and trust him again. In turn, this perpetual cycle of crushing hopes and dreams right as trust is being rebuilt, unexpectedly to Kelly, causes people to trust him less in the exact same scenario in the future. Who would've guessed? Having a reputation for something causes people to be more aware of that? Certainly not me or Craig Kelly. He did this exact thing to start the Jays' NSCF career, going 0-4 to start the season, three games of which at home, and it took until now to rebuild 3% of the fanbase's trust. He simply cannot escape it, he's always gonna be despised, nobody is ever going to trust him, no matter how good he's doing, and he's not even self aware enough to realize the trap he's always falling into.

Much like the Jays' games at the start of the season, the Cold Hill game, UCP's last major hurdle to get to 13-0, they found themselves with an opportunity to come back from a deficit in the fourth quarter. After Cunningham and Flowers traded early touchdowns and the kickers' legs were thoroughly exhausted, the Jays found themselves down three with a chance to strike late in the fourth quarter. With under 7 to go, Cunningham would sling one DEEP to Wallace, only being matched by the embodiment of Cunningham if he was a defensive player and without the mullet, Derek Boss, there to deflect his perfectly placed pass with an inhuman reach in yet another seeming example of unstoppable force vs. immovable object, in UCP's offense against CHU's defense. This gave Dante Flowers and the Buffalo an opportunity to strike late, and with under 5 minutes left, that's all they needed (maybe including a little help from the Fluffalo). Flowers would throw an absolute dot to Silverman, somehow headtopping the only bright spot of the Jays' secondary, Alejandro Matthews. With a 10-point lead and 4 to go, that's about all she wrote, despite a late effort from CunningHIM to will the Jays back into this game. 23-13 CHU, and there ends the Jays' perfection bid.

Regardless of the outcome of that game, the Jays are almost guaranteed a bye. Currently, they'd sit at the #1 in the playoffs, even though they lost to the #2, because of weird rankings quirks. Sure, a win at BYU would be nice, showing that they can actually beat a Big Eight team, winning another game of the S.P.I.T. Bowl away, and adding just that little extra mile to the ranking formula with an away win, but it's not really necessary. The Jays could lose this game by 70 and they'd still probably be guaranteed a top 6 seed. Regardless, it'd be nice to win this one, we'll just see if UCP has one last ounce of clutch left in them before they expend all of it in the playoffs.

Name: Kenton Maxwell

Kenton's biggest draw here is that he's a truly complete running back. He got plenty of reps in high school running, receiving, and in pass protection. Playing for the Millersburg High Silverhawks, he started four seasons at running back and two seasons at linebacker as a three year captain. Tragically, the team didn't have a ton of success during his tenure. Despite breaking practically every major program record available to him, the team suffered from poor coaching and a stark lack of talent - he's basically the best athlete in the township's history.

The poor coaching means he's definitely got some fundamentals to work on, but even with his coach reportedly giving him such weird advice as "never cut on a run" and "walk like a crab" in pass pro, he's a natural athlete and the experience is there. His priority is going to a strong program - both for improved coaching and because winning thirteen games in four years tends to wear on a guy. Grades are sub par, poor coaching meant a coaching staff that didn't care as long as their guys were eligible. Overall, a dynamic, elite athlete with plenty of experience and the ability to stay on the field the entire game if you can round out the edges.

One of two Ranoria City Cathedral products in the top ten, Hennessey was one of the best players in the country. Starting three years for the Crusaders, he had a bit of an up-and-down statistical career. As a sophomore, he racked up nine interceptions and three defensive touchdowns, but as a junior, no one threw his way at all. So late in the year, he developed a habit of watching the quarterback's eyes, and sealed their championship win one of his three interceptions over the final six games. He was playing well out of position, but his senior year saw it pay dividends. He's a gambler, and didn't surrender a catch as a senior despite pulling in seven picks.

Hennessey's a willing run defender who could do to put on some size, but he values flash, has speed that passers have trouble accounting for, and has rock-solid technique at the position thanks to Cathedral's elite coaching staff. Grades are superb, as are anyone's coming out of that school. Championship winning, day one starter-caliber guy with a cocky if infectious energy that teammates can feed off of.

Barney's a mammoth of a young man, dominating both on the football field and on the wrestling mats for as long as he can remember. So Barney's biggest priority is elite coaching - he wants to make sure his time away from home is worth it and assures him premium draft selection. Part of that, of course, includes experience as a pass blocker, something he didn't do much of in high school.

Barney's got great grades, and is generally a hard-nosed, vocal leader, the kind of guy who gives speeches that make people ready to run through a brick wall and all that. Captaincy worthy player who can give teams a cornerstone in the locker room and a bookend in the trenches.

Bulldozer in the trenches, this guy's been basically unstoppable in high school. Obviously, otherwise he wouldn't be this high up on the list. Manny Henderson started all four years in high school, absolutely trashing entire offensive lines much to the chagrin of the coaches in the conference. His team typically ran a four man front until midway through his sophomore year, when they realized they could just let him wreak havoc on the inside and leave the edge rushers to keep everything contained. It led to a historically dominant defense with eight players in coverage at all times, and Henderson was of course in the very messy middle of it all. Sacks, tackles for loss, broken collarbones, he did it all in school. He'll need to add some mass, but this kid's basically guaranteed to be a first round pick, and even does pretty well in the classroom!

A player who embodies causing chaos in the backfield, Henderson wouldn't be a great fit in a gap-scheme, he needs the freedom to go and blow shit up behind the line. Not an extremely vocal leader, but he's the kind of guy who can be the tip of the spear on defense with the right scheme, and can get his team the splash plays they need to be a truly elite defense.

There's actually not a ton to say about this guy - he's pretty much exactly what you expect from a running back his size. You give him the ball, he runs people over, he stiff arms them, and he makes the number on the scoreboard go bigger. Lancaster's got some experience in pass protection and as a receiver, just because RCC tends to produce elite quarterbacks and receivers as well, but the young man's been largely relegated to a bell cow runner and that is his strong suit. Uses stiff arms via a freakishly long wingspan to keep defenders away from his legs, which makes it even harder to bring him down because getting him up top is just asking to get blown over.

Physical specimen & elite power runner with true bellcow capacity - Linus Lancaster can handle as many carries as your quarterback's hands can and give you elite production while he does it. Willing to go anywhere that can accommodate that.

Rouyoute is a rich man's town - there's a reason the locals pretty much consider themselves royalty. It's the seat of Ranoria's upper class, and the Archbishop's Academy of the Reverent is for the elite amongst the elite. But even among them, Thomas Silberkraft is effectively beyond reach. The young man is the great-great-great grandson of the founder of Silberkraft, Ranoria's premier true-luxury vehicle manufacturer, and heir to the insanely wealthy company. But he hasn't been allowed to rest on his laurels. His parents ensured he was constantly pushed to his absolute limits, provided the best training, groomed to be an absolutely resolute leader. Between that and his elite chess, he's developed problem solving of the caliber his parents hoped - he can quickly diagnose problems and figure out a solution, be that on or off the field. This has also led to a bit of an obsession with cars - when he had free time, he typically spent it working on project vehicles or learning from the mechanics who hand-craft Silberkraft's engines.

And fortunately, despite his destiny of taking over the company, they haven't scorned him for wanting to continue to pursue football, which he's an absolutely rare talent in. Thomas has been on the radar of virtually every program in Ranoria since he first laced them up for Reverent, opening his career as a decent sized wide receiver and scoring three touchdowns - two coming in overtime periods - to lift his team to a win as a freshman. Hell, his poise even then led to four straight years of captaincy.

Then, of course, his growth spurt hit. He shot up from six foot to six foot six and packed on pounds at an almost alarming rate in the weight room. The kid's been clocked in the low 4.6 range and has been dunking since his sophomore year.

He's everything you want in a tight end - fast, nasty, enthusiastic blocker and a dominant receiver. His route tree? High level even for a collegian - he trained other none other than RFL Hall of Famer Earl Beets. They brough in South Newlandian grandmasters to speed along his progression on the chessboard. The only thing he's really lacking in his blocking, since he's basically just blasted the hell out of anyone unfortunate enough to get in his way until now. He's got that bulky, muscular and leanish high schooler build right now - a good college weight program could turn him from a freak of nature to something else entirely in a year. Strip all that baby fat off and reveal the man beneath.

Of course, he doesn't come without some off field factors. While Silberkraft's talent, work ethic, and leadership qualities are beyond reproach, his family is as close to the concept of royalty as Ranoria has. They want to ensure he'll be kept under a watchful eye, given access to top-of-the-line facilities and such, and of course they want him safe, he's the greatest investment even the Silberkrafts have. They're willing to shell out - both in political "favors" and in the form of updating the athletic and training facilities of wherever he ends up. Silberkraft may be the most talented tight end prospect Ranoria's seen since Johnny Farmer - he's an athletic freak, a domineering, resolute leader who's sheer confidence can be a pillar for his teammates - but will some teams be turned away by his off-the-field background?

Oh wow, the top recruit from Ranoria is an edge rusher. Who could have ever seen this coming?

We say it every year and we're right every year - this one is special. Alrick is a downright monstrous talent, to the point that the Ashialand Coastal Mutineers secured his commitment all the way back in the eighth grade. And he was fine with that, excited to play for a program that was perhaps just a hair behind the true championship frontrunners, and even more excited to be the one to bring them to the top. So sure is his future stardom that Heidelberg's already signed some smaller NIL deals - though he's holding off on the larger brands until his stock is up. Every recruiter from every elite program was turned away - and there were many. He's been at the top of this class's recruiting rankings for years, and even with Silberkraft's background, has never really been challenged on that front.

But then the Rebel's Cannon Bowl happened in McNair Memorial. He saw the Banijans that flooded into the city, he saw the culture of another nation take over that of his own for a week, and he saw NSCF caliber play, and that pretty much settled it. He pulled his commitment from the Mutineers last second, and is desperate to play overseas, even potentially getting a couple games on other worlds if possible, and thinks that the NSCF can be the perfect opportunity to see, well, everything as a collegian while still pursuing what he loves. The 4.0 student has always been interested in other cultures after all...oh right, he's a football player.

Alrick Heidelberg is nothing short of a force of nature on the football field. No one can block him, no one can slow him down, he has completely and utterly eviscerated any and all competition in the best conference southern Ranoria has to offer. He has shocking speed for a young man his size, he's addicted to the weight room and plays clean if violent football. Heidelberg's won championships in basketball, in football, and individually in amateur kickboxing - and they show on the field with his elite explosiveness and hand fighting to complement unmatched power. Virtually perfect prospect who dominates in every facet of the game and demands greatness from himself and his teammates alike, leader both vocally and by example.

Floris KLOCK — Dual-threat; freak athlete; unrefined; large frame
[OT/DT .. RS SO .. #60]
A high-ceiling lineman who can play both ways, Klock was sidelined for much of this year by inter-team politics as much as by talent. A natural OT, Klock has succeeded at the DE position—but his lack of technical refinement becomes more pronounced when lining up in defense. Temperamentally, Klock is somewhat closed-off and has not gotten along with Bicker-Van der Vleet during the NSCF 33 campaign, but it is reasonable to believe that he might thrive in a different environment. While defined by Prince Pieter's College as a rising junior, Klock did not play his freshman year (because of the eccentricities of Prince Pieter's College sports participation which can be explained upon request), so he technically may be treated as a redshirt sophomore going into NSCF 34. His 40 and his broad jump are exceptional for his size (6'8), and Klock boasts a mighty 7'1 wingspan.

Marko VAN AALTEN — Tackle-breaker; fast accelerator; mediocre field vision; checkdown threat
[RB .. SR .. #27]
A reliable veteran who can be plugged into any system as a capable RB2 or a transitional mentor figure, Van Aalten spent most of NSCF 33 in the backfield waiting to be utilized as an emergency dump-off. While Van Aalten remains in good standing with his coach and his team as they end their season, he seems to believe that he can be utilized better by a school with any kind of developed run game. Van Aalten excels in space, proving to be a quick and slippery big-play threat, but he has trouble getting there unless a hole is opened up for him by his linemen. Because New Rotterdam's linemen were rarely capable of doing so, Van Aalten's numbers suffered.

Stijn MENTZEL — Developmental prospect; freak athlete; sluggish work ethic; unrefined playmaker
[WR .. SO .. #86]
Potentially the best athlete on the New Rotterdam squad and easily the player in the transfer portal with the highest ceiling—and highest risk. Mentzel was one of the only true freshmen to play in NSCF 33, but his time was limited because of a deep receiver room and off-field struggles; he found himself suspended three times during the season for disciplinary reasons, twice by the school and once by the coach himself. Perhaps relatedly, Mentzel showed attitude problems and was loath to refine his technical skills, which led to an indefinite benching by matchday six. Nonetheless, it is certainly possible that Stijn could turn around as he matures and perhaps enters a different environment with a different style of coach. He boasts high-percentile broad and long jumps and a blisteringly fast 4.27 40-yard dash.

Titus DER MEULEN — Field-tilting speed; undersized; slot potential; ball diva
[WR .. SR .. #83]
Der Meulen was a reliable cornerstone of New Rotterdam's offense this past season, netting the third-most catches, the second-most touchdowns, and the second-most total yardage. He is small and thin but fast and shifty, a lab-designed slot receiver with trustworthy hands. Der Meulen is entering the portal to see if he can net a WR1 role as he stares down the barrel of a deep room for his senior season. While a genial character and a hard worker, Der Meulen carries the risk of becoming distracted by a more lively environment than the manicured lawns of Prince Pieter's.

Johannes POORTVLIET — Fast off the edge; low center of gravity; lingering foot problem; academic issues
[DE .. RS JR .. #56]
Poortvliet's lingering "malady of the foot" (plantar fasciitis) which has dogged him since his early career worsened during NSCF 33, when by matchday two he was out for the rest of the season to wrap his foot in ginger leaves and smoke medicinal tobacco as prescribed by the team physician. While he should be ready to get back on the field by next tournament, Poortvliet discovered at the Cavsar State away game that he can take this year as a "medical redshirt" and still have two years of eligibility (perhaps even three)—a concept that Prince Pieter's College forbids. Besides the injury history, Poortvliet is a starter since freshman year with a refined first step and elite acceleration. He is slightly larger but this does not seem to hinder his agility—and Poortvliet has a signature swim move that has proven to unbalance linemen even at such powerful programs as UC-P and Cavsar.

Banka Steals The Show At McNair Memorial, Dominates To Cap Off Historic Season

The reigning Big 8 MVP has arguably put up the best passing season in Richardson's NSCF history - and he made it clear he's not done yet

Twenty years since the legendary Derek McNair's death. Two time winner of the award that - prior to his death - was renamed the McNair-Torrent MVP award - he won two national championships as with Richardson, absolutely electrifying the college football world. And he didn't slow down as a pro - in just eight seasons, McNair racked up over thirty thousand passing yards, sixty five hundred rushing yards, cleared two hundred passing touchdowns, and called his own number to score seventy seven times.

Throw in the first and only two Winter Bowl championships for the Memphis Steamers, a pair of undefeated group stages in the World Bowl - and short tenure or not, he's undeniably one of the greatest to ever do it. His legacy is a complex one - the mystery surrounding his death, the affairs, are far from a stellar mark on his name. But Saturday was a day for him. Both of his sons were on the field, his alma mater squaring off with their greatest rival. It was a good day. His sons were supposed to be the highlight of the show.

Of course for Richardson quarterbacks, stats aren't the way to secure your legacy - McNair's championships echo that sentiment, those are what he's most remembered for. That legacy was supposed to get featured through the play of his sons.

Unfortunately for the narrative, Dex Banka was having none of it.

He couldn't get it done last season - not that it was entirely on him. There's a reason the team canned offensive coordinator John Glassner immedietely following the 30-3 meltdown against it's biggest rival. It was a dark day for Richardson football, and it was a dark day for a freshman quarterback who'd been asked to do way too much with way too little that season. But this year, things changed. There were certainly some doubters amongst the fanbase. But Banka has made a habit of sitting out the fourth quarter, dominating the teams he was supposed to dominate. And once this one started, whether you want numbers or wins, Banka provided it Saturday on the biggest stage.

At no point did this game look competitive. Not when Jack Archer took took toss for forty yards on the opening drive, not when Alexander Eisenberg blasted Sebowa to take the ball away just two minutes later, and not when Dex Banka ripped off a passing touchdown on each of the next three drives before the bell even sounded for halftime. Brad Manlio's offense was completely overwhelming the Blue Thunder on the ground and through the air. They had no answer for Chad McOxley torching their overmatched cornerbacks, no counter to the three headed monster at running back despite a strong front seven. Sebowa had little time in the pocket, but he did have to look to Elishah McNair early and often. Kuto Kuri, for all his merits, getting matched up with a top-five-pick caliber player in Landon Rayne was simply a death sentence.

He tossed the ball to the elder McNair brother five times - connecting on three of them - but if anyone was looking for an early edge in that particular matchup, they wouldn't find it. Elishah picked up 19 yards on those snags, and just one first down as the offense looked downright putrid.

They managed some life at the start of the second half - down 28-3, Sebowa Jawara didn't quite look done yet. Some excellent pocket movement got him away from Terrance Savage and he rolled out, completely unguarded, then took off. Cassius North responded, abandoning his zone to go get him, and Jawara took advantage, ripping the ball to Elishah McNair just as North blasted him, popping his helmet halfway off and sending the two skidding back a few yards. But the damage was done - with so much of the talk leading up to this game featuring the two, we finally got our first big play of Elishah vs Levi McNair.

Levi had been playing deep, and tried to come up and make the tackle just for his big brother to do what big brothers do, planting an arm in his face and literally just shrugging him off. With that, it was all open field, and dazed or not, Sebowa pumped a fist in the air as the score got a little bit closer at 28-10.

That was the end of any hope for the Blue Thunder, however. Dex Banka made it four touchdown passes on the next drive to stretch the lead.

With things looking desperate, Sebowa just started to try playing hero ball. He went to old reliable early and often, hitting Elishah McNair for a couple quick completions as the drive started to move. He got one warning - Levi McNair jumped a slant route, getting two hands on the ball but unable to secure it, and it fell harmlessly to the ground. He scrambled for another first down, took a sack from Terrance Savage, and tried to shake it off. The hits were accumulating, but Jawara was determined not to fold here in one of the biggest moments of his life.

Two step drop, look, fire, and any hope of turning this thing around vanished. Levi McNair cut in front of his brother and one-handed the interception, stumbling out of a contorted tackle attempt and breaking into a dead sprint towards the other end zone. That stumble was enough for Sebowa to bring him down, but he knew, they all knew, that was a wrap on this. Dex Banka got the ball back, late in the third quarter, just outside the red zone.

"My shift's about up boys!" He called out in the huddle, "Time to punch in, let's put this thing on ice!" They broke the huddle and it wasn't six seconds later that big Hezekiah Thomas snagged the ball in stride and blasted through a linebacker on his way to the end zone. Five touchdowns on the day for Dex Banka - that would make it 42-10, and with that one, he rose to second in Richardson's NSCF program history for passing touchdowns in a season with 36 - behind only only John Garrett's NSCF 18 campaign and passing up Ezekial Bantoba's NSCF 23 run. And that wasn't all - on the prior drive, he'd gotten to second on the same list for passing yards - just flip around those two quarterbacks.

Banka raised his arms to signal the touchdown and clapped hands with his offensive linemen - the starters were done today.

Senior Sandra Jameson would "lead" the team to cruise out the fourth quarter, handing it off to Vincent Hwang-Dalbec getting most of the work and Maverick King spelling him to close this thing out. Hwang-Dalbec did notch one more score to make it 48-13, but they failed on the two pointer when they tried to make it a fifty burger.

"We're far from finished," Dex Banka said at the postgame presser, "We knew this was a playoff caliber team, and we knew we had to be ready. Well, we were. Our guys showed up, and theirs didn't. That was the biggest game of the season, but we want it all." Dex laughed, looked to the side, and then shook his head before continuing, "Look, you all know it and I know it. My sister Janet already won a natty last year, and they're about two games away from repeating this season. I will never hear the end of it if she gets two up on me, so you know." He didn't have much to say when asked about ripping off one of the best passing seasons in Governors history - writing it off as doing his job and complimenting his teammates.

At 11-2, this team has its superstar quarterback. They've got a bye. They're coming off a three-game road trip, all wins. And on one side of the bracket, the NSCF playoffs will run through Dietrich Stadium. No one wants to play Richardson right now - and it remains to be soon who earns the right to get a crack at them.

Buffalo Cruise Past Nordhammer, Secure Top Three Seed

Chris Dale locked up a ninth Big 8 championship this season and at 11-2, the Buffalo are ready for the playoffs

No one was too surprised at the outcome on this one - Cold Hill's offense put it out of reach early, with three first half touchdowns defining this one as Dante Flowers capped off his last junior campaign with a decent performance. The prospective number one pick in the upcoming RFL draft hasn't had the insane production of his NSCF 32 campaign, but he's been lethal, an intensely passionate leader, and his personality has truly shown to help rally a Buffalo squad that needed it.

"This team could have collapsed after what happened earlier this season," Chris Dale told sideline reporters after the game, referencing the mysterious death of Miles Jackson, "Instead, they've rallied around each other, our leaders have stepped up big time, and they've turned that tragedy into resolve. We're gunning for a championship, same as always, but no matter what happens, I've never been more proud of a group of young men in my lifetime."

At 11-2, the Buffalo are the third seed in the upcoming NSCF playoffs, and the bye appears to be a mercy for Derek Boss, who missed the regular season finale with rib and arm injuries. They've bothered him for months, but against Nordhammer, the team wasn't expecting much of a challenge, so giving him the extra week of a break was seen as pertinent. So with not much having happened in that game, Dale turned to other news at the presser.

"Yes, we did confirm that Ignace Rouse-Juruni is committing to the program," he acknowledged with a smile, "Big news for our program. We've always been able to acquire and develop elite talent at that position, and we're excited to bring Ignace on." And next, he was asked about the apparent presence of two of his grandchildren at practice, and was pressed on why linebacker Lenny Mackin was tasked with watching them.

"Well, Lenny wasn't getting any reps in team, and [my grandkids], wanted to go climb around on the bleachers. So yeah, of course I sent someone to go watch them."

NSCF 33 Championship Venue Bid

Seven Stars Stadium (250,000)

It has hosted World Cups. It has hosted regional championships. It has hosted the championship series for WBC 48. It has even hosted a few Drawkian national team games, and of course it's hosted a championship game for the World Bowl and NSCF. How much more can you ask of a stadium's resume?

Seven Stars Stadium was built to be the ultimate venue. A cathedral of sport, a destination on any traveler's bucket list. Its mix of beauty and functionality is admirable, almost like a sort of art. It's the main attraction of the Centivar County Complex. On the outside, the four huge columns on the outer corners of the stadium are the most notable feature, making the building seem almost castle-like in appearance. On the south end of the stadium is a large decorated entrance known as the "Grand Gate," which faces a park and plaza area called Grand Gate Park.

A large stadium meant for the typical outdoor sports, it features a retractable roof and a huge hanging scoreboard over the field (as well as a few video boards along the perimeter). With the roof closed, the venue somehow manages to feel both cavernous and intimate. Within the inside of the stadium are three columns in a similar style to the ones on the outside; these feature decks and luxury boxes for a unique viewing experience. For sports which have a less conventional field shape (like baseball), the seats can be reconfigured to retain the capacity while still providing a good viewing experience for fans.

Meanwhile, the rest of Centivar County is just as interesting to check out. The Centivar County Complex, in addition to the stadiums and park, also features an extensive shopping and office center full of tourist trap places. The County itself is halfway between Metropolon and Drawk City, Drawkland's capital and cultural capital and two most populous cities. Because of this, it's really easy to get to, and routes most travelers to some of Drawkland's best amenities and places to visit while traveling. Fans will easily be taken care of, and a train line specifically serving the stadium Complex going between Drawk City and Metropolon will make travel even easier.

Of course, teams and their essential entourage will be treated with the utmost care and convenience that's typical for Drawkland-hosted events. The hosting resume speaks for itself, and Seven Stars' typical treatment is top-notch. A single game like this, with all its pomp, circumstance, and hype, will be a simple task. This is something Seven Stars Stadium is built for. With its sibling stadium Millennium Park hosting a few NSCAA Final Fours just a hundred feet below, it could be Seven Stars' turn to bear the collegiate torch once again. Let's make it happen.

OOC: I know, RPing two games at once- but doing what needs to be done

NMU HC Hannah McKendry, standing following a NMU 3rd & goal attempt early in the 3rd quarter of NMU's Week 12 game against Staramara Tech

NMU had come into this game knowing exactly what they needed to do- their upset win against Raynor last week had given the Cougars playoff hopes a new lease on life. They weren't quite on life support, by any means- but the Cougars had likely started non-con play on the outside looking in, finishing just 6-4 in conference play. But the win over Raynor had vaulted them. From the outside looking in, to the inside- just barely in, but hey- in was in. But that meant they had to keep winning, and they were on the road again- this time, against a rival.

Both teams were desperate. Both of these teams needed a win to keep the playoff hopes alive. And in 26 degree F cold weather, Tech had gotten off to a strong start. It was hard to come up with answers for the triple option- they drilled it all week, of course, but it was hard for a scout team QB to simulate everything that Jair could do. Tech only had one passing attempt in the entire first half, and they had both the explosive play, and quality drives going. They had, deservingly, led 17-3 at halftime.

NMU had come out relatively agressively in the second half. The downfield passin game was working- and it had gotten them all the way to first and goal at the one. A perfect response to a rough first half. A drive that featured, of course, a 37 yard passing play to Boy Guissé. But you know what happens against this defense- the Lava Wall. First down, no movement at all on a QB sneak. Second down- Heavenworth lost 2 yards in the backfield, with Solomon Seyewanek hitting the HB back there. NMU dialed up a play-action pass on 3rd & 9- but it went all wrong, and Lennard Thompson brought the crowd into a frenzy with a sack to force a 6 yard loss.

"FUCK!" It had been a frustrating sequence for the head coach. She had slammed her headset on the ground after that. It would be, dating back to last game, the 7th consecutive red zone trip to end in a FG attempt. The type of stat that would make any coach or fan lose their mind. It's a streak that's just painful to watch. Nearly physically painful. Down 17-6 now, the crowd, which had largely been subdued by that drive, was feeling it again. NMU's best possesion of the day, yielded only 3 points. And Tech, up 11 at home, had a running game that was feeling it- 171 rushing yards, as a team, in the first half. Of course, also 1/1 passing for 32 yards.

"We need to change things up." She thought to herself. "Get a possesion back." And with the game in commercial break, she walked up to her kicker, and whispered. "Four! Four!" He nodded. That was the symbol for surprise onside kick. She wasn't gonna gather the kickoff unit around her- she didn't want to alert the other sideline. And the word spread around. And when the commercial ended, and the FG unit jogged onto the field, they were ready- and caught the elite Tech unit by surprise. The ball was popped into the air, and Amazu Mazzi caught it basically unchallenged- the Lava weren't ready for it. "LET'S GO!" The sideline all leapt up, as the special teams unit mobbed Mazzi. The gutsy call had worked- could her squad take advantage of it?

Week 12: NMU wins rivalry game in Chromatika as they land critical victory in chase for a playoff spot

STARAMARA, URRHED ISLAND, CHROMATIKA- This game featured everything. Brilliant coaching. Great rushing offenses from both teams- especially Staramara Tech, which had just 4 pass attempts all game long. And, of course, it featured gutsy coaching, particularly from McKendry- an onside kick, a 2 point conversion, and some gutsy decisions to go for it on 4th down against the vaunted Lava Wall. In what might have been the game of the season, it was NMU triumphing over their Chromatik rival, 37-31- to functionally punch Tech out of the playoff race, and into the race for the Mugisha III Memorial Bowl. And NMU, a team that started the playoffs on the outside looking in, well- now have found themselves in the role of road warriors that nobody wants to face.

We can talk about the first half- but we know the NMU fans reading this would want to skip that. We were down 17-3 at halftime, if that's how you want to look at it. You can talk about the QB's 34 yard TD run, where he almost broke the ankles of our MLB, he juked him out so badly. And, of course, he stiff-armed our free safety down into the ground as well. Or we could talk about their 12 play, 8 minute, 83 yard drive, that ended in a 3 yard TD run by their fullback. All 12 plays rushing plays- the triple option gives you that variety. It seemed as if they were going to triple option NMU to death.

And in the second half, we had a couple of big plays get us all the way down to the one- and yet, we ended up kicking a FG. 7th straight red zone drive ending in 3- absolutely infuriating stat. And that's when Hannah McKendry said screw it- we're going balls to the wall, and we're playing to win. Down 17-6, Tech wasn't ready for it- the surprise, pop-up onside kick. It went perfectly- Tech's guys turned the other way, only one dude was in position to react, which meant that depth chart WR Mazzi was able to come down with it at the 47 yard line. "That, in reality, was the game's turning point." Said a Banijan TV analyst. "That was the first time in the game where you felt- hey, they're getting dominated, but can they do this?"

The answer, was yes. First play from scrimmage- Heavenworth running right into the teeth of that defense- but the Moravica hogmollies creating a hole, allowing her to gain 10 yards and a first down. Second play from scrimmage, no trickery- just a simple post route from Mark Lutt. But he was in man to man coverage, as both safeties had snuck up to play against the run. A picture-perfect throw from Ceora, and a diving catch from Mark Lutt, who had a step on his man, in the end zone for a touchdown. Who cares about a red zone FG streak if you're throwing 40+ yard bombs on a rope? The throw made it 17-12, and McKendry went right back to Lutt- who caught the 2 point conversion on the fade route. Suddenly, the game was close. 17-14, and NMU had snatched all the momentum from the home side.

Not for forever though- the teams traded punts for a bit, until Dokken, Tech's HB, hit NMU for a 64 yard TD. Tech was back in a comfortable position- 10 points up, running game rolling. But the Cougars, as always, didn't give up. The ensuing possesion, they needed to make some major plays- and they did exactly. 2 plays later, NMU faced a 3rd & 13 at their own 22 yard line- and the notoriously slow Coera had a 17 yard gain on a scramble for a first down. Everybody lost contain, and he even kind of side stepped a defender on his way to the marker- a juke would be a generous term for that move. At the end of they drive, they obliterated their red zone FG streak, as Brianna Heavenworth had a 7 yard TD run to close the third quarter.

NMU forced a 3 & out- and they went right back to work, attempting to wear down this Lava defense. They put them on their backheels, with a mixture of hurry-up and punishing runs. How do you defeat arguably the best defensive line in college football? The answer- wear them out. Not huddling before a goal line play is diabolical, but, in the fourth quarter, McKendry put her faith in her offense- and was rewarded. 3rd & goal from the 9- and Coera hits the TE, DaMarcus Koger, who's brought down at the 2 yard line. And they run hurry-up- putting the defense in confusion. Tech wasn't able to line up properly, and because of that, they were out of position for the HB toss, and Heavenworth walked around the edge into the end zone for a 2 yard TD run. Once again, brilliant coaching.

"We had two plays called there." McKendry explained after the game. "The plan was simple- get inside the 3, we're going for it- despite being down 3. Hey- in these rivalry games, you don't play for ties- you've gotta be gutsy and trying to get wins." A 28-24 lead for NMU- but with over 10 minutes left, plenty of time for Tech to respond. but for Tech, their backs were ready for the moment. Dokken had two huge plays on the ensuing drive- a 23 yard run on a 3rd & 2, and then, later on the drive, a 27 yard TD drive that many seemed to think would win them the game. 31-28 to Staramara Tech.

But, hey- Coera would have a couple of more opportunities to win the game. Drove his team down the field, and put them in field goal range. And despite taking a rough sack... NMU's kicker hit the game-tying 51 yarder. And then, after the NMU defense held up, Ceora drove this team into field goal range again. Gutsy throw after gutsy throw, got NMU to the 35. 2 seconds left, a chance for a walkoff that would surely go down in NMU lore.

But... It was not meant to be. Laina Pontellier flew around the edge for the Lava, and her dive blocked the kick. Fortunately, NMU's kicker had the smartness to fall on the football- otherwise, Tech was going the other way.

What a game it was! 31-31. NMU won the toss, and deferred- so Tech took the field. And the very first play...

Banijan Radio Commentator wrote:It's the first play of the first OT- Tech's got first & 10 from the NMU 25 yard line. That triple option- it's worked all day in the big spots for Tech, and it's been almost unstoppable today. 322 rushing yards for Tech, compared to just 44 passing yards. They come out, lined up in the wishbone. The true freshman, Jair Lleyamana, is lined up under center. He barks out signals- and the ball is snapped. He fakes it to the FB, he turns right.. Reading the NMU EDGE rusher, he pitches,, but he's hit as he does it and the football is on the ground! NMU DT Jermaine Williams came from nowhere and gave him a walloping! Ball's on the ground.. There's a dogpile... AND KIAANSH MAHTO, OUR SOUTH NEWLANDIAN FREE SAFETY, HAS EMERGED WITH THE FOOTBALL! OH, WHAT A PLAY ON DEFENSE- FIRST TURNOVER FOR EITHER TEAM, AND A FIELD GOAL WILL WIN IT FOR NMU!

Sometimes, you just gotta make a play- and Jermaine Williams made his. This opportunity was here to win things- and they would make the most of it. That fumble had sucked the life out of this home stadium, and NMU was ready to get on the next flight home. It took three plays. Heavenworth, an 8 yard run up the middle. 2nd & 2, Jimmy Maganda took the toss, and almost scored- as Tech's FS made a desperation shoe string tackle at the 2 yard line. It's these goal line situations where the Lava thrive- but it was simply going to be NMU's day. The slot WR, Devin Kitcher, ran a bubble screen- and with the defense crashing in, Kitcher just had to beat his one man on the outside. He juked out the nickel back, and ran into the end zone for the game-winning score.

Rivalry win? Check. Playoff hopes? Surely alive. "And THAT'S how you win a rivalry game on the road." Ceora said at post game media availability, taking a shot at Loyola, who would lose 39-13 against MDU that very same day. With Xolile Lubabalo celebrating on the field, it's a nice little 4 game winning streak at just the right time- is this team ready for a push?

Week 13: NMU crushes Raukieff on Senior Day as they book trip to face Mountain District University in first round of the playoffs

HERZEGOVINA CITY, MORAVICA- The beauty of this competition, is that you can always play your way into the postseason. We were barely top 15 when the season ended- but 3 non-con wins, including two road wins against Raynor U and Staramara Tech, were followed up by one last audition for the Committee. And what an audition it was- a 53-6 beatdown of Raukieff. "Hey, when you're playing inferior opponents, you've got to beat them down- and it was a hell of a way for NMU to honor their seniors." Said a Banijan TV analyst. "Playoffs- here we come!"

Playoffs, indeed. The Committee voted, and boom- NMU will travel back to Chromatika, to take on MDU. "While this year maybe doesn't seem like their best team, they probably have the best pedigree of any team in this competition." Hannah McKendry told reporters. "They are a tough matchup for anybody, and you never particularly want to play them. But- Northern Moravica has never backed down, from anybody. We've had our backs against the wall since week 8, when we sat at 4-4, wondering if we'd even get to .500. But we've won 5 in a row, and our playing our best ball at the right time of year."

Both NMU and Loyola are 9-4. Loyola won the conference and are at home- and yet, ask yourself, which school would you rather be a fan of? We'll talk about how Loyola's feeling in a different article- but NMU's feeling pretty good. They are a team that comes in, really, without pressure. They've got a bridge QB, and their best player hurt his knee in week 1.

But they are facing a team similar to them. A late season resurgence, inspired by a mid-season QB change. Hudson Charles is dealing- NMU fans surely enjoyed watching his one man demolition of their archrivals, Loyola-Istria. Playing his best ball of the year at exactly the right time, the NMU secondary in particular will have one hell of a challenge on their hands. But with both teams balling out, this might be the game of the round.

... "Dude, we haven't had this good of a year in a LONG time." The owner's accountant said to him.

"Dude, I know." The owner replied. "Shit's been flying off the shelves. Of course, we're coming off a NSCAA year, which is good. And Sebowa's success this year... Both his jersey, and Isaka's old jerseys, are simply selling like crazy. And now we're going to Busukuma in 2 weeks- those Savannah division champ shirts will sell for a couple of weeks, and then, if we win the Celestia, the conference champs shirts will REALLY go hard. We've got the best O in college football, quarterbacked by a legacy who has redeemed himself."

"And I know you always got stuff up your sleeve."

"You bet your ass I do!" The owner replied. "Look at this shirt we're gonna drop ahead of championship week- Jawara for MOP." He showed his accountant the early version of the shirt. It was Isaka throwing, but modified to look as if he was throwing the trophy- and yet, Sebowa was catching it like he was catching a snap. "It's been a while since we've had a candidate. These will sell like hotcakes. A lock."

"A lock, indeed." The accountant nodded. "If I were a betting man, I'd bet the house. We're so freaking back, man."

Same two people, the Monday following Loyola's 39-13 walloping at the hands of MDU

"Well." The accountant said. "We've seen better Mondays. But hey- it's Rebel's Cannon bowl week!"

The owner of the establishment just grunted. He had flown to Chromatika for the game- and it had been a nightmare. That's the only reasonable description when the opposing QB completes 23 throws in a row against you, in a near perfect demolition. The Sebowa MOP shirt sales had started slowing down considerably, after he only threw for 71 passing yards in the Celestia conference title game. But- after a game like this? You may as well take them off the shelves.

"It ain't possible now, right? Too many bad games in big spots?"

"Yeah." The owner sighed. "I mean it's tough, because in both wins and losses, he's balled all year. But to no-show a championship game, well- everyone gets a mulligan. But a rival that's dominated us for years, when the other QB looks like prime Diamond Rhine out there, and Sebowa looks like..."

"Prime Sebowa?" The accountant offered. And they both laughed, briefly.

"Honestly, you're not wrong." The owner said. "Prime Sebowa. No, he can't win the award. But we can't take the shirts off the shelves now- what if he balls out and beats RU? Hey, he did last year. And while he'd still be unlikely to get the award, these shirts would surely sell..."

One week later, the Monday following Loyola's 48-13 Rebel's Cannon Bowl loss

"Sir?" The head of the store's foundation said when the owner walked into her office.

"We're pulling all the Sebowa for MOP shirts." He said. "We'll donate them abroad."

"Will we now?" She nodded. "How's Farfadillis?"

"Makes sense to me." He was barely paying attention. The brutality of the loss- it was so thorough, and so brutal, that this game, combined with the loss against MDU, almost felt like they had completely wiped the progress made throughout the season by this Blue Thunder. And the progress was massive. First playoff appearance since NSCF 29, first conference title since then as well, first conference title of any kind for a Jawara, #1 offense through conference play. Everything that could've been going well, was going well- until their final two rivalry games.

Loyola-Istria had a major rivalry game problem, and the paths to solving it were limited. He saw Jack Archer running through his nightmares. Loyola used to produce QBs like Dex Banka like a chicken produced eggs- why couldn't they do that anymore? Tough scenes all around..

Isaka Jawara, in the dying moments of the final quarter, as the clock was running out

Isaka Jawara was grimacing. This was Loyola's best team in four years- and THIS was how his nephew would go out? On this stage, like this? Absolutely disgusting. He couldn't bare to watch. He had probably, on his phone, watched what had seemed to be the day's tone setting play, about 20 times already. The Blue Thunder facing 3rd & 12 on their opening series. Already down 7-0 here at the McNair. And just... Everything that had been so promising about this season from Sebowa, just completely shot.

The Governors showed blitz. But critically- Sebowa had lost the mental game. He shifted his blockers, but did a bad job in the presnap- Eisenberg was the free rusher. Critically, he had read the wrong hot route- he looked in McNair's direction, but he was blanketed in man coverage. It would've been intentional grounding as he hadn't left the pocket, and suddenly, Isaka's nephew was trapped in no man's land. He tried to maneuver within the pocket, and he got rocked by the sophomore EDGE rusher. Ball on the ground, Savage picks it up and returns it to the Loyola 11. Banka only needed one play after that, hitting his senior TE, and at that point, simply- the rout was on.

The Blue Thunder defense continued to get boatraced, and by the time the offense had collected their heads, they were 28-0 in the first half to their biggest rivals. Just brutal. Isaka simply shook his head. A horrible experience here in Memphis. He wouldn't be returning.

The Mar Sara Tech staff and most of the players sat in the gymnasium waiting for the results of the NSCF voting Committee to see if they were going to be bound for the playoffs or would be demoted to one of the bowls that were running in the postseason. They knew if it was the latter instead of the former, they likely would be heading to the capital city of the Empire for their last game, as the VSC had put forward a third edition of the Valhalla Bowl which was going to be hosted in Raynor University's stadium. At the very least, if they were resigned to that fate by the voters, then at least they would be able to count on a large amount of home support with the relative closeness of Raynor City and Mar Sara, as well as the way Vanorians tended to support one another when not going against each other's teams. In the past the Rockets and Raiders had shared game footage, scouting reports, and other bits of pieces of information on opposing teams if they thought it would give the other a bit of an advantage over a foe that they might have played previously, while there was rivalry between the two schools it was always on the more friendly side of things, more for bragging rights than true animosity.

The hours had creeped by, the team had started filing in around midday and were witness to the basketball team getting a practice in while the media crew were setting up all the equipment for them to be prepared for the reveal show. A lot of the staff were fairly confident that the team was going to get into the playoff but there was still a bit of doubt, Alexandria had made a strong case with their out of conference wins, including a tight win at Raynor in Week 12, that they might be worthy of the last spot ahead of the Raiders. The victory over the Quebecois team at home in Week 12 though ugly seemed to be just enough to give the Raiders the edge heading into this final vote but failing to defeat a bad Sadeg team even if it was in Drawkland likely was going to be a major contributing factor if they failed to get in, as well as losing at home to both Raynor and Richardson. Home losses hurt dearly, as it was evident with the fact that despite being a conference winner and having quite a difficult out of conference schedule, Raynor was going to be the lowest seed in the playoffs regardless of if it was Tech or Alexandria who got the last spot in, with Northern Moravica and Lebois Santura looking like locks.

Around three in the afternoon local time the broadcast began and they drew out the selection quite slowly, revealing the teams who only got a single vote each. The Zephyr surprisingly had a pair of representatives there outside of the Vanorian contingents, as both High City and Mancodas received a vote, which was surprising but perhaps a sign that there was more respect for the conference as a whole than initially had seemed. Next it was revealed the team who came closest to being voted in but still failed short and much to the relief of everyone inside the gym, it had been Alexandria of Cardenao who was in that place. Amongst the roars of happiness and elation along with a bit of unexpected dancing, the broadcast revealed that Northern Moravica, Lebois Santura, and Mar Sara Tech all received eight votes and would be heading into the playoffs. Sander Ivarsson leaned back against the bleachers, pulled out his notebook and checked who the team was going to be playing and frown a little bit when he saw that the team was traveling across the sea to visit Banija and the Celestia champions in Loyola-Istria.

There had been a week to prepare for this game but Sander was still a bit nervous about traveling for this game despite having had success in the past in Banija, something about this edition of the competition felt a little different. Perhaps it was the post championship high that had seemingly kept the team from being as sharp as he would have liked, allowing the team to lose both games against Raynor and then twice in the out of conference with Richardson and the Skyhawks. The latter left a bitter taste in the old coach's mouth, the teams were supposed to be rivals, so much so that they had a committee spend time deciding a name for their annual game, and yet despite everything year after year he still failed to find a way to earn a victory against the Drawkians. He remembered a few seasons ago losing to them in the out of conference last week only then to have to face them again in the first round of the playoff and lose again, it had been a truly awful few weeks and offseason that followed. For whatever reason, Sadeg State simply had the Raiders number and no matter of adjustments to personnel or gameplan seemed to matter, which really irked him as a two time champion winning coach.

However Sadeg State was in Ranoria to take part in the Karmin-Falce Bowl and he was here looking to guide the Raiders to the first of what he hoped would be four straight upsets to repeat as title winners. The odds were stacked against the team but they had also been stacked against them last season in the semifinals at Raynor and then in the championship game against Mountain District and yet both times they defied the odds and lifted the trophy. Thorbjørn Skår was going to get a healthy dose of the ball in whatever way he could scheme it up for the star senior running back, he was their best offensive weapon and if the team was going to have a chance against Loyola-Istria they would need him. They would need to control the field position game and to have long, methodical drives to tire out one of the best defenses in the game so that come the fourth quarter their speedy wide outs would have a step on their coverage and hit them deep. That was the gameplan anyway, a steady dose of the running back in the first half and then hope in the second half their better conditioning would prove the difference.

The Rockets coaching staff knew that they had scheduled a complete hardline of difficult opponents for the team in the out of conference, with regular difficult schools in the likes of Northern Moravica, Alexandria, and year on title challenger Mountain District in what was seemingly becoming an annual game. Most analysts believed that the Rockets were going to come away with two wins from the three matches and be battle hardened and ready for the rigors that the championship playoffs were going to give to the Rockets, as it was going to definitely be a notch or two higher difficult than what had been the annual trek through the Zephyr. At worst the team would win one of their home games and then lose the other and at Chromatika, though no one would believe that the team would lose all three games. To be fair, the Rockets had every opportunity in the fourth quarter of all three games to come away with a game winning drive and yet in all three games they would fall short by a few measly points, their explosive offense not coming up clutch and the defense regressing from the resilient unit it had been during conference play and the conference title game.

The result was the team not only was not granted a bye, nor did they have a home game for the first round of the playoffs, but they were going to be the lowest seed entering into the playoffs behind the seven teams who needed to get in either through the voting council or by virtue of the RTC. It was humbling, it was humilating, and it drove a fire inside the locker room something fierce. The past week of practice was full contact, players were in their pads and going full tilt as they prepared for their trip to New Rotterdom to take on Prince Pieter's College. It did not matter if the perception was that the Mineral conference was the weakest conference in the NSCF this season and that UCP had an inflated record and their opponents had a better RTC score as a result, this was the hand the team were dealt. Sidney Jones was now given the opportunity to do what seemed impossible and win three straight road games to get to the title game, three games where they would not be favorites. Prince Pieter's had looked downright impressive in their last game, at home, against the Gladiators of Cavsar and thwarted them by twenty as if they were a debut school to the competition. The Rockets need the defense to step up where they had failed to in the out of conference if the team was going to have a real chance and the three headed monster of the wide out room needed to terrorize the secondary of the home team from the opening kick off to the final whistle, that was their path to victory.

CHROMIA, CAPITAL DISTRICT - This was always going to be a measuring stick game between two Freshmen Quarterbacks - Eyla Grotten and Vi Merrot. With a sold out crowd that was fairly split down the middle - the Robots have quite a fanbase since their days with Anne-Maurice Vivayavich at the helm - the first half ended up being close, only for the Robots to take over and dominate to make it to their second title game - first since the aforementioned Vivayavich.

In the First Quarter, it was Ewy Giandl that was doing most of the damage for the home team. Running between the tackles, counters, and catching the ball on screens, the Running Back totaled over hundred yards in that opening Quarter - but the Martyrs were stopped all three times from crossing the end zone. This would end up biting them, as Tea Aquila's circus catch in the back corner of the end zone and a nice throw in the slot to Maria Lura meant that the Robots would have the edge after the eventful Quarter.

The Second Quarter ended up being most of the same. Giandl did what she does - the fifty-six yard spurt gave her over 150 in the Quarter - but it was obvious that once again, Eyla Grotten was having way too much time. Mattias Jukov and the line has been working so well in these playoffs, and with the Freshman signal caller finding Nestore Filippo on a deep route, it was 16-23.

Starting the Third Quarter was when the Robots' defense started to shine. Led by Middle Linebacker Vivi Eliasen (she'd lead the team with fifteen tackles in the game), the Robots held the Martyrs to just two first downs in the Third Quarter while Lura caught yet another touchdown pass from Eyla Grotten. By the Fourth Quarter, the Robots were in cruise control - and when Eliasen accented her masterful performance with a pick-six off of Merrot, the Robots had completed a shellacking of the home team.

Eyla Grotten finished the day 27-of-33 for 318 yards and three touchdowns; Ewy Ginadl was the biggest weapon of the Martyrs, totalling over 184 yards in the defeat. Nobody thought the Martyrs would be here in the beginning of the season, but with the duo of Merrot and Giandl only getting better as they get older, it will only get easier for them to continue to thrive.

For Vitoron, though, it's their first truly great Quarterback since Vivayavich - and they've one more game left to play.

LANAR, RAINBOW DISTRICT - To say that these two teams are rivals would be an understatement. Lanar, a newcomer to the power structure of the Chromatik High School Gridiron system, trying to prove that they belong against one of the bluebloods, return to the Championship Game, and this time, win it all. Mt. Niar, on the other hand, back to the Semifinals - trying to return to the heydays of both Dante Flowers and of course, Sarai Michelle Bradwyn Gwenderyn.

For all the talk about the two offenses, though, it would be the defenses that shined. Jacqueline Vom Bruch, the star Junior Outside Linebacker of the Rhinos, said that the team had only one goal: "Stop Maas from beating us, and have the other players try. You contain their Quarterback, and there is nothing they can do."

There isn't a lot to talk about in terms of the entire game as a whole. Neither team had more than 250 yards total on offense. Both teams combined to go a dismal 5-of-21 on third down conversions. There were eleven plays for loss, eight sacks, and six turnovers (two being turnover on downs). Maas van der Voorde went 11-of-28 for 131 yards and two interceptions, while Kenneth Jordean-Johnson III wasn't much better, going 13-of-29 for 121 yards, an interception, and a fumble. The teams exchanged a grand total of twelve punts, and it was a brutal, ugly game in the early Chromatik winter.

So, how did the Rhinos pull it off? That third aspect of the game that is so often overlooked: Special Teams.

Nearing the end of the Second Quarter, Anston Gainston, the Junior Wide Receiver for Lanar that is also their Punt Returner, took a punt and ran it back fifty-two yards; even though the home team only totaled eight yards in the ensuing drive, it was still in range for the spectacular Oliver Branch, who nailed a fifty-yard Field Goal to finally break the scoreless tie.

Then, in the Fourth Quarter, Junior Cornerback Jens Thon crashed through the Anacondas line on a routine punt, getting to Punter Drew Jannick and blocking it before the Punter could get it off. That led to the only other Field Goal of the game, which Branch put away without an issue.

For the second straight season, Lanar High School had utilized their defense to make it to the National Championships. This time, they didn't have a dominant Running Back to supplement, but when your defense is playing the way that the Rhinos have been through the stretch, you don't need much else.

Can they finish the job this time, though?

Northern Moravica Challenge: Firehawks Face "That Other Banijan Team" in Opening Round of Playoffs

FELSWYR, MOUNTAIN DISTRICT - Much can be said about the season finale for the Firehawks. How Hudson Charles proved that the intermediate passing game of the Firehawks is here to stay with yet another masterful performance - 21 of 30, 221 yards, 3 touchdowns - including the one to put the game away with a minute left; how Freya Odinsdóttir, just as she'd done numerous times before for the Battle Angels of Staramara Tech High School, wrecked Raynor's battle plans on their final drive to preserve the victory, knocking Kirai Englefond's left hand clean to force a fumble for the end of the game. However, it was the play of the Firehawks running game that deserves the credit here.

With most of the Firehawks' passing attack being between eight and fifteen yards, they leaned on the duo of Muhoozi Kadindo and Mack Mason. The Banijan shined with a tough workload of 91 yards on 23 carries, while the Cardenaoan had 51 yards on eight to split the load. This contribution from the running game kept Charles's options open, and allowed some play action that he hit deep.

The reward? Going 2-1 in non-conference play has yielded the Firehawks a chance to host a playoff game - against Northern Moravica, whose rival is actually Staramara Tech. Mountain District has faced Northern Moravica sits at 1-0 - a win in the Quarterfinals of NSCF 28 proving to be the difference. The Cougars are a team that has also heated up throughout the non-conference slate, looking to make another splash in a season where Loyola-Istria has taken all the limelight.

Mark Lutt, the Chromatik Wide Receiver for the Cougars, will be their best weapon alongside Briana Heavenworth; will the Firehawks' defense be up to snuff?

One last home game. Time to get the job done.

An Open Letter From Nick Singer

Dear Alexandria,

Man…how do I write this? Usually I do my talking on the field, but before my final game wearing the Swordsmen’s red, white, and blue, well I just want to give my thanks to the city that’s helped me grow from a boy to a man.

Four years ago, I showed up from Ranoria Cory with a duffel bag with a pair of clothes, my cleats, and plenty of room for the dreams I hoped to achieve here, in Alexandria, my new home. I didn’t know much about the city, I still don’t because you could live two lives in this beautiful place and still not see all of it. I came not knowing much about anything at all but you welcomed me into the city with open arms, like I was one of your own.

I’d only ever heard about Alexandria on TV when they won the NSCAA championship and I thought to myself, dang, that could be me up there one day. A winner with AU on my chest, I was determined to make a reality, but I didn’t realize what it would mean to become part of this city, part of the Alexandrian way of life. I’m part of a family now, I know I’ll Never Walk Alone and I wear that like a badge of pride when I’m out there fighting for you every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday night, I’m fighting for something bigger than me, I’m fighting for we.

When I took my first snap four years ago in front of 27 and a half thousand of you, man…it was the best feeling in the world, something I’m still chasing every time I’m under center out there. I set out to make history, and I’d say we did that together, even if we didn’t quite get all the way. I wanted more than anything to bring an NSCF championship here, more than anything to steal the Big-8 crown away from LeBois, but we made the news other ways, getting to the playoffs, winning those bowl games, ruining the Broncos season not once, but twice, these are moments I will cherish my whole life. Together, we turned a new program into a Big-8 power, we earned wins in the hardest conference in the world.

Special shoutout to Coach Isa, coach you changed my life. You’ve been there and won it all at the highest level, I couldn’t believe the news when we announced you were coming in to right the ship. Coach, you guided me to become the man I am today, no other way to say it. When you came in…man, it brought us to a whole new level, I wish we could’ve delivered more together but I’m excited to watch the program under you Coach.
I guess, to Alexandria, I just have this to say: thank you. Thank you for believing in me, thank you for cheering me, thank you for forming me, not just into a better QB, but a better man, a better human because of it. I came here hoping to leave my mark, but this city and people left their mark on me.

This next bit I want to say to younger me, to the kids back in Ranoria City wearing my jersey and seeing themselves in it: bet on yourself. Get on out there and give it everything you got because this is your only chance, this is your shot so you better make it count. Thanks for sticking with me through the good and the bad, you’re the reason why we do it.

Team, I hate to say it but this chapter is closing. I’ve given it my all, I’ve tried to make the most of the opportunity you’ve given me on the field, but this dance is just about over. I’m heading to the next level, whatever or wherever that might be. No matter what happens next though, I’ll always have that AU red white and blue tattooed on my soul till the day I die.
But that ain’t happening yet, and we still got one last song to dance too.

The Drawk Bowl, High City College, in Drawk City. The only way I’m leaving that Corps University Hub is with a trophy or if I’m graveyard dead, you can count on that. One last dance then, huh Swordsmen?

Ignace Rouse-Juruni had a fairly low-key Friday heading into his commitment ceremony at Lycee Koreana in Eastern Songak. The Lycee, being one of eight traditional lycees in the two metropolises of Joongyeong and Songak, was a large world of about 1,400 students. Its ancient, 19th-century quarters, which were befit with state-of-art equipments inside, were a clear symbol of the largely-bygone days of the Shingoryeoite Empire that held Songak as its Anglophone, commercial centre, even as the school itself had a Korean-language curriculum and its graduation examinations Baccalaureat Shingoryeoite of Joongyeong, instead of the Quebeco-Shingoryeoite Level-As usually used in the city.

Of course, he wasn't exactly the only one in his class heading to play gridiron football at the next level. The school had a reputation for being one of the comprehensive sporting powerhouses in the nation's largest city and thus the province, and football just happened to be one of them. As of today, eight of his classmates from three-time state championship team have signed to college programs across the country, and he, being the era-defining player for the program, was going to be the ninth player to sign.

Of course, the sheer scale of the ceremony, especially on a early June day where most seniors were barely around after their March Fashion Shows, April Baccalaureat exams, Maytime school concerts, was all too obvious as to the sheer calibre of player and collegiate career Ignace has had with the Lycee-Koreana Cavaliers. No less than a couple hundred people, which included dozens of journalists, college football followers, and even Songak Public School Board officials were present, some of them having travelled across the country to watch the third-ranked player in the nation, and only one in top ten who was uncommitted, declare.

Most, of course, were aware that Ignace, the second of five sons from boxing gym owner Kimberley Rouse and statistician Maurice Nkrumah Juruni, was going to declare abroad. There were six schools who he had shortlisted at the end of the day, three domestic and three abroad, and everybody knew who those programs were. Saguenay has always sought after high-skill, high-character receivers like him, Koreana was one of the most faithful pipelines for St. Croix, and his father's alma mater, Songak Metropolitan, had good relationship with his head coach, a former alumnus of their own in Aurelien Choo-Nwamadi. With how high-profile and competent those programs were, even with Saguenay reportedly at the end of their road with their head coach Sara Lee Hampton, and St. Croix under neverending row of controversies with their new coach, Theodore Galstian, the future seemed bright for him in any of those schools regardless. He was just that good of a player.

But the other three - Loyola, Northern Moravica, and Cold Hill - were where it's going to be at. Loyola-Istria's unexpected return to the NSCF playoffs, even with a three-game skid on nonconference slate, was noticeable. The public seemed somewhat high on their chances for the future, especially when considering that their quarterback was Sebowa Jawara, whose ability to pull off reverso-Proudfoot on his final season. Most, in all likelihood, had considered the connections with Leslie Allin to be a much more painless experience, especially when considering that Allin was outplaying Jawara until a freaky, locker room injury caused him to take the Spring football eason off. There was going to be plenty of room for him to ride off into the sunset.

Besides, it's Istria. Who wouldn't want to jump into their mankinis and bask on the sun year-round basis? You wouldn't even need coffee to stay awake because sunlight will give you that Vitamin.

Then there was Northern Moravica. The etheral Kabuyean paradise that's coached by one of theirs in Hannah McKendry, whose ability to relate to younger generations of football players and fans was like none another. Nobody was going to beat that, outside of well, her late father-in-law, and maybe St. Croix's Theodore Galstian. Also, for all their defensive reputation, Northern still had one of the most explosive playmakers in Horace 'Horny' Horton ready to return from his first medical redshirt next season. This was something that Ignace, who had known Horton from various prospect training camps he had attended in past, found it to be a positive especially because he saw in NMU a possibility of an all-world offence. One where Horton rushes, he plays alongside future MOP Julian Gallagher catching passes from upcoming star transfer Brooklyn Beck. That alone, when combined with how football-friendly their NIL program was, would make anybody decide to commit to them.

"Because I couldn't go for three". It takes a lot of hate and pent-up rage/rivalry to say something like this. To be so bold as to go for two in the fourth quarter up by 30, and then to back it up with a statement showing just how little respect you have for the other team. If you've ever watched NSCF ever, you'd know that Craig Kelly is simultaneously the HC most and least likely to ever say this. He's the most likely, well, because nobody knows what he's gonna do next, and you can't exactly rule anything out. He's the least likely because, you'd imagine, you'd have to be winning by a lot and still score, something that UCP seems almost allergic to doing. However, that was before the season. After going 12-1 (13-1 counting the Mineral CCG, even though others discredit it as a game to begin with because it stems from the Mineral), Craig Kelly finally has a chance to pour some salt in the wound and pull out this legendary one-liner. Going for two with 29 seconds left takes some balls, especially at your rival, up by forty, following the "Hail Kelly" (49 yard missile from Cunningham into triple coverage for a touchdown by Heaton).

Against BYU, the Jays almost weren't trying, and yet, they were putting their rival in the blender. They didn't even have to try, before this point they'd already essentially put a top 4 playoff seed on lock after beating SSU, and yet they still did. They still tried solely to stick it to every other conference in NSCF, even though the BIg Eight pretty much is only half of a legitimate conference at this point and somehow created the truest testament to the hubris of man against Margaret. Heaton alone had two touchdowns, CunningHIM had 4, and yet they still go for a prayer downfield to hammer home this game further. Now, it's a good thing this locked up a bye and somehow the #1 seed in the playoffs, meaning Maggie can't instantly exact her revenge, but she's still going to try in the quarterfinals.

This is the first bye UCP has ever had, they've never missed an OOC game, they technically didn't have one in the single year they missed the mineral CCG, and yet, in year five of existence in NSCF, with a freshman quarterback who might be the second coming of college Lane Proudfoot (without the lack of self-control and disregard for consent), they claim the #1 seed in the playoffs after going 12-1. This truly is something only Maggie could do, and better yet, it's about the worst top four seeds you can get in the history of the competition. We have a chance for Cavsux-UCP in the Semifinals before a UCP-CHU rematch in the title game. Call it cinema, call it the "Fraud Four", it simply does not matter. Either way, it's an affront to the game of football, and every NSCF casual is on their knees praying that at least two of these teams get eliminated in the quarterfinals on an upset. For UCP, they're gonna have to run through one of Northern Moravica University from Banija or have a chance to sweep the Chromatik schools in the playoffs (at least for now) against Mountain District. Both teams are good, and even though UCP's the #1 seed at 12-1, neither potential outcome is a guarantee. It would, however, mean the second time in school history that UCP has played a game in the second round, which is very sad. We'll just have to see if CunningHIM can muster up all the Mullet Magic he has left to send UCP to the promised land and probably kill NSCF as we know it forever.

"The Burning Sky"

It was one step above rock bottom. Brooklyn Beck and the Skyhawks played Richardson close, but not close enough. The defense had allowed almost 30 points per game during the five game losing streak, and that wasn’t going to change that night in Sadeg. The defense and special teams did combine for two turnovers on the day, and Brooklyn took advantage of the short field both times. It wasn’t enough. The offense combined for a couple missed field goals and a whole bunch of punts or failed fourth down conversions around midfield.

The losing streak, now at six games, was officially the longest such skid in Sadeg State’s NSCF record. To make matters worse, not even Cavsar had a losing streak that long in the NSCF, and the Gladiators had their share of ugly seasons. Talk about offensive ineptitude all you want, but you can’t expect to win games with your defense regularly giving up thirty points.

Given the last few weeks of ugliness, it would be understandable for Brooklyn to spiral even further into oblivion. This game against Richardson held the last fleeting hope of a playoff appearance for Sadeg State. Now that was done. It was over. The Skyhawks would have to claw for a win against playoff-bound Mar Sara Tech just to make a bowl game appearance certain. Brooklyn didn’t feel that crushing blow as much, though. Maybe it was the fact that she dyed her hair. Or, more likely, Brooklyn already subconsciously knew this wasn’t going to be The Season. Falling into the same trap at Silver Coast State, getting swept by the Chromatik schools to lose the Horizon, there was no way this team could really make a run even if they did sneak into the playoffs. Perhaps Brooklyn was finally through the stages of grief for this season.

Whatever the case, she was in a surprisingly level mood in the locker room after the game. In some areas, especially the defensive side of the room, it felt akin to a funeral. Over in Brooklyn’s corner, it was rather placid. Once she’d gotten her pads off, she gathered her bag and headed for her side closet. On the way there, she passed by Jace Phoenix’s locker. Jace had just removed his undershirt, and sent a sidelong glance at Brooklyn as she walked by. Brooklyn noticed and paused.

“I think the experiment can be concluded.” Brooklyn said, turning slightly towards Jace. “The ‘Jace Phoenix offense’ is not infallible.”

“There’s only so much I can do, honey.” Jace shrugged with a wry smile. “I think you can understand that feeling.”

“Trust me, I know that well.” Brooklyn sniffed. She looked Jace up and down, unconsciously reading his body language. He didn’t seem chipper about this season being effectively over, but he did seem at ease. It was almost the same way Brooklyn currently felt. And though his response was sarcastic, it didn’t seem to be biting. He was merely stating a fact.

“What are you lookin’ at?” Jace said after a moment of Brooklyn meeting his gaze. He raised an eyebrow.

“Nothin,’” Brooklyn blinked and turned back to her private closet, leaving without another word. She’d just realized something about Jace. Yes, he was obviously a diva receiver. He expected attention, nay, demanded it, but he was never a whiner. Even when the Skyhawks went into their skid, even when he wasn’t getting any real opportunities, he was still fighting every single down.

As she got fully changed behind closed doors, her mind kept turning over Jace. Now that she thought of it, she couldn’t recall Jace taking a single play “off” this season. She would’ve expected a big-headed receiver to get pissy with bad performances and start lagging behind. Even Julian sometimes took it easy late in blowout games in high school, though they were all younger back then. Jace might be a bit rough around the edges, but he was certainly honest. His flirting attempts weren’t really overbearing either.

Brooklyn wasn’t sure what it was that flipped the switch in her mind, but it happened. The season was basically over at this point. They’d get their home finale the next week, probably a bowl game, and it’d be off to senior year. What better time to step further out of her comfort zone?

When she’d finished changing into her postgame clothes, Brooklyn poked her head out of the closet doors. The locker room had emptied out a bit by then. Most players were happy to get out of the stadium as quickly as possible following the loss. Brooklyn looked over and saw that Jace was still there, idly scrolling through something on his phone while he sat at the stool in front of his locker.

“Hey.” Brooklyn said, approaching Jace’s locker. Jace looked up slowly from his phone with an unreadable expression. Brooklyn cocked her head. “Are you doing anything tomorrow night?”

“Me?” Jace pointed a finger at himself, a mock expression of shock on his face. He paused, as if trying to remember. “I’ll probably find something to do. Why do you ask?”

“Well, I’ll be at Wendell’s.” Brooklyn replied casually, referencing a hole-in-the-wall bar near Sadeg State’s campus. “I thought I might like some company. Probably around 7ish.”

“Interesting.” Jace pursed his lips, which he twisted into the slightest of smirks. “I’ll see if I can make it. I’m a very busy man, you know.”

“Oh, I’m sure you are.” Brooklyn said, moving on to drop the rest of her things in her locker.

Approximately 24 hours later, Brooklyn was sitting at the end of the bar at Wendell’s. It was the same bar she’d been to a couple times with her high school teammates Mark and Kevin. TVs set to sports channels set a dull roar across the room which matched the level of conversation among the patrons, pretty much all of whom were locals. Whether Brooklyn had ever been recognized there remained to be seen; she’d never been bothered at least.

In Brooklyn’s first survey of the bar floor, there seemed to be no sign of Jace Phoenix. She shrugged. If he was going to show up at all, she didn’t think he was the type to be early. She ordered a Rodgers Light draft from the bartender, despite not being much of a beer drinker. Despite being at the bar for a good twenty minutes alone, she was hardly halfway done with the glass when somebody sat at the stool next to her.

“You found the time, huh?” Brooklyn chuckled as she fought down another sip of her beer.

“Felt like I’d have more fun here than anywhere else tonight,” Jace Phoenix replied smoothly. He pointed at Brooklyn’s glass. “I didn’t know you were a beer drinker.”

“I’m not,” Brooklyn coughed as she put down another sip. “But the season’s nearly over, and I’m trying out new things.” She met Jace’s eye with the second part of that sentence.

“I see.” Jace regarded Brooklyn’s pint. “What’d you get?”

“Uh, just a Rodgers Light. That’s what everybody drinks, right?” Brooklyn replied. She narrowed her eyes. “Are you much of a drinker?”

“Not usually during the season. But I can enjoy a treat once in awhile.” Jace admitted. The bartender finally arrived in front of Jace. “Two Rodgers Crown, please.”

“Two right off the bat, huh?”

“One of them’s for you.” Jace said. “If you’re not liking the taste of the Light then don’t bother with it. If you’re just having a few and you’re actively working out, getting the regular isn’t going to hurt.”

“Crown’s the regular?” Brooklyn asked as the bartender put down a glass in front of both her and Jace.

“Yeah. Just the name of their mainline beer.” Jace picked up his glass and tilted it towards Brooklyn, who quickly picked up her own glass and tinked it against Jace’s accordingly. “Cheers.”

“Cheers.” Brooklyn echoed, grimacing before taking a first sip of the Crown. She let it sit in her mouth for a moment before swallowing, then squinted. “I guess it’s a little better.”

“That’s the spirit.” Jace took a sip, then added, “Not literally, I suppose, but close enough.”

The pair engaged in a little small talk while they downed their drinks. Brooklyn was still going at a much slower pace, but it was an improvement over her first beer. That one was sitting, still half-empty, off to the side and getting flatter by the minute.

“So …” Jace started after a lull in conversation. “You’re trying new things lately?”

“Yeah.” Brooklyn hiccuped. She instinctively ran a finger through the dyed hair on the right side of her head. “Just trying to get myself out of the funk, y’know? Like baseball players will shave or something when they’re slumping. Trying something along those lines. It’s not like any of our actual game prep has been working.”

“I feel that.” Jace grinned. “I’ve got a dozen different routines that I switch out whenever I’m feeling down. Though I may have exhausted my options after this run. I gotta branch out too.” He cast a glance over at Brooklyn.

“Mhm. You can already see my hair. And there’s been other things too.” Brooklyn went bottoms up, downing the last few sips of her beer at once. “This is kinda growing on me.”

“What, your hair? It tends to do that.” Jace snorted.

“No, the beer. Thanks for the recommendation.” Brooklyn replied earnestly.

“Would you mind another?” Jace asked, motioning for the bartender to come over.

“Hmmm, I dunno.” Brooklyn said teasingly. “Okay, maybe just one more. That’s it, though, because I’ve gotta go home soon. Promised to watch an episode of something with Grace tonight.” She looked back at Jace meaningfully. It almost looked like a challenge.

“Oh yeah, Grace Robbins.” Jace nodded as he ordered another two beers. “I’ve seen her around. She cool?”

“Yeah, she’s cool.” Brooklyn replied as she accepted her new glass, less hesitantly this time. She clinked her glass with Jace’s and took a heartier sip.

About a half hour later, Brooklyn was walking back to her apartment. It wasn’t far from Wendell’s, and she wasn’t confident about driving back since she had little experience with alcohol. She’d decided when she left for the bar she’d just walk there and back.

Jace Phoenix was still there, walking alongside Brooklyn as she stepped with a barely-perceptible sloppiness along the urban Sadeg sidewalk. The conversation they’d had at the bar was pleasant, and it continued as they went along outside. Jace was still his slick and somewhat sarcastic self, but there was a slight softness to his words that Brooklyn had never heard before.

Eventually, they reached the front door to Brooklyn’s apartment building. Brooklyn stopped on the stoop and looked over at Jace, who was the same height as her now that she was a step higher.

“Thanks for keeping me company tonight. I mean it.” Brooklyn said, rolling slightly on the balls of her feet.

“Anytime.” Jace replied, the edges of his eyes crinkling in a half-smile. “And I mean that, too.”

“Cool. I’ll let you know.” Brooklyn paused, looking straight across at Jace. Her eyes were ever-so-slightly narrowed, analyzing whatever move Jace was going to make.

“Good.” Jace paused a moment before raising one arm to Brooklyn’s shoulder.

“Alright, good night, Jace.” Brooklyn quickly brought up her own arm, giving Jace a light slap on the opposite shoulder. She turned around towards the door before Jace could do anything else. As she unlocked the door, she looked back at Jace. “See you at film study tomorrow.”

A moment later, she was in the door, and she breathed out a slow sigh. Despite herself, she couldn’t ignore the small smile stuck on her face as she walked up to her own door. What this get-together meant remained to be seen, but it certainly went better than Brooklyn expected.
