As the Minnows go through the WCoH 21 and lead Group Six with 10 points and go goal difference, currently performance wised the weakest number one team in their group based on results compared to the leaders of the ten groups in the current group stage rounds. Coming down heavy on Slembana, and forced to an embarrassing defeat against Mohawk Clans, the Minnows had not done as well as they have expected. The key weakness in the Minnows' playing style would be the fact that the team was too wasteful in front of goal. Putting in five shots, and with only a quarter chance to get a goal through them, certainly the least accurate team among the nine other group leaders.

Now that the team has an overview of the five teams the Minnows are up against, the team that gave the Minnows more of a headache would be Mohawk Clans, notably a very tough nut to crack, skilled in the attack, tough in defence. A team that might be a potential headache other than Slembana would be Sovetskya, a team that is known to throw men forward in an attempt to pressure the opponent into submitting and counting on the loose passes and poaching a goal or two through the tactic. It might not be a wise approach, but at least they are not finishing matches empty handed.

Now a quick look at Gyatso-kai, one of the Minnows toughest hockey rivals, currently leading group two and finishing half of the group stage rounds unbeaten, whereas Ko-oren struggle at the bottom of Group 2. While Mapletish's sporting rivals hold the ends in Group 2, World Cup of Hockey 20 champions hold onto their lead at Group 7 while Valanora tries to pose challenges to them from defending their title. Michael VII, Mapletish's border rivals currently trails fellow Rushmori counterpart Darmen with four points in Group 8.

The group stage for the World Cup of Hockey is now half over with the end of the fifth match day, where Polkopia played Sel Appa, a team who is ranked 106th in the world. The first goal of the day was scored by Sel Appa in an embarrassing mistake by the defenders, who took no measures into doing what they were supposed to be doing. The coach later explained how the first string would start again in the match against Thatius after a one day break, and he'd expect great things from the team.

The sixth matchday ended with a dull 2-2 draw to Atelia in what was a rematch of the first match day of Group Six, the Minnows could not improve their form in front of goal and failed to convert their chances as usual. I got up with the head coach Wilson after the match, "The team was doing well in the first two periods holding onto their lead, and the third period came crushing down on them as the defence lost head and conceded two goals." The Minnows looks set to improve themselves in front of goal.

I could not stop ranting here you see, the summer heat must have put the Minnows to some terrible performances in their matches. However nobody would really blame the heat for such performances. From what I can see, the problem lies with the confidence of the players, if not they could be better on form in front of goal, the lack of consistency is another factor. Some of the inconsistent players that I could pick out would be the defensive pair three, Ronald Hammond and Layton Xavior, both of whom are responsible of the 7 goals scored against the Minnows from the total 12 against the team. Their positioning are more of a terrible sight, I swear I can play better than them there, even without the necessary training, I can position better than them. Most of the goals that they led in would be at most based on their positioning mistakes, the failure to intercept passes which were key to the goals that were led in.

Talking about the inconsistent pair, we have the consistent pair that have been racking up the goals for the Minnows, but the offensive line one, that are responsible for 15 of the 23 goals for the Minnows. However they are more of a offensive burden sometimes, scoring one goal every four shots might be a good ratio but it seems more of a terrible sight for the Minnows there, presented with so many chances in front of goal, their failure to score was more of a terrible sight for us fans to see. Now that the Minnows fail to pull a victory in the first match of the second leg in the group stage, the lead is presented back to Mohawk Clans who didn't disappoint in their conquest for the top to qualify out top of the group.

For the next four matches, the Minnows would need to step up their game if they were to qualify from group stage and be presented a better chance to reach their target anytime soon.

"Magda Wertauer with you on the Sports 7 Update. Oh, Neu Engollon, we won't dwell on this one. The Ibex have lost once again to Torisakia, this time on Torisakian home turf...er, ice. Nothing much exciting to report, but the Ibex did fight it out hard and scraped for every goal they got. De Gratzo and Sameaux deserve credit for making the most shots on goal this time around. It wasn't enough to overcome the Ice Birds, and they're handed their second loss to them. We will cross our fingers, but the chances of Neu Engollon moving on past the group stage are just about nil. They do have to face TailPrower and Ko-oren again, but beyond that, we don't...well, it's going down as a real bad week for Neu Engollon international competition when you take the Baptism of Fire into account. Let's drink more beer and think happy thoughts of the upcoming Rugby League World Cup. Back after these messages, folks."

Davis Shuts Out Lymantatia

Laurentia, Lymantatia – In an exciting qualifying-round game, the defending World Cup champions Havl defeated 56th-ranked Lymantatia 2-0. Once again, Havl goaltender Davis Rich was in top form, earning his third shutout of the tournament. The match up pitted Havl against its highest-scoring opponent of this tournament. In the opening game, Havl defeated Lymantation 8-4, a game that led many to question the Capital City-based squad's renowned defensive prowess. "That first game was an eye-opener," said Rich. "We wanted to lock down [on defense] in this rematch." And lock down Rich did, stopping all 20 Lymantatia shots en route to his fifth win of the tournament.

The game marked the Havl men's ice hockey team's first trip to Laurentia, and the defending champs were eager to increase their lead of Group 7. "These games against underdogs can be humbling," said team captain Justin Donndelinger. "Lymantatia has two wins in this group already, and we didn't want to take anything for granted." Lymantatia's goaltender faced constant offensive pressure as Havl outshot the fifth-placed team 42-20. However, the game wasn't as one-sided as the score shows. "True, I didn't face a whole lot of shots," said Rich. "Lymantatia had some good opportunies early, and that I'm thankful that shot from their captain hit the post instead of the back of the net."

Davis Rich earned his third shutout of the tournament.

Lymantatia came out with a strong start, dominating the opening minutes with a flurry of shots against Rich. But the Capital City native held strong. The reigning champions applied heavy pressure to the 56th-ranked squad, but the first period ended in a scoreless tie. Brian Demerson changed that with a wraparound goal to start the second period. In a scramble in front of the Lymantatia net, Gilles Lecompte made it a two-goal game by knocking in a loose puck in the crease. "It was a garbage goal, maybe," said Lecompte. "But a goal nonetheless."

In the third period, Havl defenseman Brian Beierle led a defensive clampdown that limited the underdogs to just five shots in twenty minutes. In that time, Havl managed almost three times as many shots, but the final score was to stand at just two goals. "It was good, old-time hockey," said assistant captain Jason State. "We're trying out some new approaches in games like this, and it seems to be working." Overall, head coach Niklas Lindberg appeared please with his team's performance. "Don't get me wrong, I love a good high-scoring game," said Lindberg. "But this is tournament hockey; goal differentials count, and we need to focus on making it into the next round."

With the victory, Havl continues to lead Group 7 by two points over Valanora. The two top-ranked teams will have much to play for when coverage of World Cup of Hockey XXI continues on HTVM Saturday evening when Havl will travel to Stormguard to play 13th-ranked Valanora live from Gallen's Hove.

What's there to become of us, Mickey? What's there to become of us? Seems like appropriate words for our current situation. Yes, I know we won today. We're all glad we won today. But, and this is a big but, that still doesn't mean a lot. Unless we can win against Gyatso-kai, we're nowhere. Nowhere at all. Anyways, I went to the game today. good thing it was at home, I didn't want to go to neu Engollon again, not after last time. So howsabout a story to hold you over for the next twenty minutes, hm?

So I got up around 9 AM, it was pretty sunny outside. Just the usual, until my friend Harrybo came over. He knocked on my door, and when I answered it, I couldn't believe it. All his clothes were torn, there was blood on his face, and suddenly he shouted, "I'm going to murder you and leave you by the side of the road. Now do you understand?", so I go "Okay, don't worry about it.", then I took him and went "Wheeee!" and I threw him out the window. Later that day, my brother, my friends, and I went out to the game down in Copeland Sports Arena. But when we got there, we couldn't find the first parking spot. WOULD YOU BELIEVE IT?! So we parked in someone's driveway, no harm done.

When we walked up to our designated gate, the event staff asked to see our tickets, we all had one. When I gave them my ticket, they, uh, seem to have thought it was fake. "Stop right there," said the man at security. "You'll need to come with me," he said taking me off to some room. Anyways, I finally was approved to go in and so I did. I caught up with David and my friends and we eventually got to our seats at ring-side right at mid-ice. Fantastic! The game was good, very good, yes. Cassidy was checked against the boards and I the glass nearly hit me! Blimey! Other than that, it was a good game. I posted the scoring summary below.

I went down to the locker room area to see if I could talk to some of the players like last time. Secuirty let me through, and that was that. Not long after, the players left the locer room to hed back to the buses. I breifly talked to Alexei who again said my brother David looked like a bag of hamsters. Dontknowaboutthat. Kristen walked out out after him, saw me, and told me in a singsong voice "Clear the flaff out from under your bed, clear the flaff out from under your bed!" Well! I did get to talk to Cassidy and Jessica again, only this time, they both pelted me with oranges. Made a great big hole in the wall. Huh.

Not long after, we were about to hed out the arena, when suddenly,an alarm sounded. It was the smoke alarm, the arena was on fire! There was an awful yelling and crying, there was the noise of people dying, and someone shouting. Suddenly a man came up on a megaphone and shouted "Quick! Get out! Get outta here!", so we all got up and ran out the door as fast as we could. Later that day, I found out that my friend Harrybo found out I was at the game, he took a 12-gauge there and started shooting, trying to find me. Huh.

Well, I just murderd(no pun intended) 30 minutes possibly more typing that out. But anyways, we finally won again. Horray! Glad to see that our defense is getting back on tracking after giving up so many goals against Ko-oren and Sicoutimont. The offense could use a little bit of tweaking, but it'll do for now. We just need to snag second or first place in Group Two if we want to survive. Anyways, here's the socring summary:

Fairly good game from both sides I guess. The score was much lower than last time. But hopefully this this win doesn't get into our heads, because we play an undefeated Gyatso-kai next. Maybe this time we'll get an actual result that will help us this time, not some stupid 4-4 tie. Gyatso-kai beat Ko-oren 2-1 today, so their offense doesn't seem too theatening right now. But that's nothing to believe, they could be bluffing. Would you believe it?! They're hussling us. Gah, when I post here tomorrow they're gonna die, I swear, swear I will.

Valanora beats Saintland again

(SP) Yet another rematch of the Gold Medal game from the last Winter Olympics ended once again with Valanora defeating the Kingdom of Saintland. This time around, the Sanctii got out to an early lead, despite still being without both Prince Josephus and Thomas Clovius. Both of them were injured in the World Cup of Hockey opener against Valanora and are out for the rest of the World Cup of Hockey. However, Valanora came back in the 3rd period and scored a game-winning goal in the final minute of regulation. "This is already a lost World Cup of Hockey for us. The injuries to Thomas [Clovius] and myself in the first game against Valanora derailed our chances and the brutal game against the Royal Kingdom of Quebec put us even further off track. Losing to Lymantatia was embarrassing. In the unlikely event that we can beat Quebec and Havl in the condition we are in and barring another debacle such as that loss to Lymantatia, we could still finish 5-5. If we do that, we might sneak into the playoffs. However, I think our World Cup of Hockey is already over. There's no point in either Thomas or myself risking further injury and jeopardizing our availability for the upcoming field hockey competition at the Olympics. Winning the gold medal is now more important than our World Cup of Hockey games. I just hope that the game in Quebec tomorrow isn't too brutal. We can't afford any more injuries." - Prince Josephus

To draw a crowd to today's World Cup of Hockey game at Royal Square Garden, King Paulus XV invited Cantus Virginum to sing. The start of the game was delayed slightly as the Cantus Virginum concert went long. However, it was successful as our Kingdom's National Ice and Field Hockey Team played Valanora in front of a capacity crowd, mostly composed of screaming schoolgirls. Matthaeus Artorius scored the first Sanctii goal just 48 seconds into the game. It was a wraparound goal that Suiadan Lasséseth was unable to defend. Late in the first period, Ioannes Petellius passed to Ioannes Nipius. Nipius attempted a one-time shot. The one-timer went right past Suiadan Lasséseth into the top left corner of the goal. The Kingdom of Saintland had a 2 goal lead after the first period.

For most of the second period, the Sanctii were able to keep Valanora at bay. Ioannes Laetonius stopped shot after shot. However, that could not last. Eventually Málassnen Mallithar passed to Voronthal Falasumé and Falasumé hit a one-timer. Laetonius was not expecting a shot and it went into the net for the first Vanorian goal. After 2 periods, the Kingdom of Saintland would cling to a 2 to 1 lead.

In the middle of the 3rd period, Paulus Murrius would be penalized for high-sticking. Valanora took advantage of this, as Laerbelidon Taltauré hit a slapshot so hard that Laetonius didn't even see it before it went into the net. Suddenly, Valanora had tied the game at 2 goals apiece. It looked like it would remain tied until Imenien Lithloth scored in the final minute while just barely outside of the crease. Valanora would win 3 goals to 2.

With the loss, the Kingdom of Saintland is now 1-5 in the World Cup of Hockey. The Sanctii face the Royal Kingdom of Quebec next in Quebec. This will be a rematch of the violent game held at Royal Square Garden just days ago. With our Kingdom's National Team all but eliminated from the World Cup of Hockey, they will be hoping to play the spoiler role. Given their violent style of play, the Sanctii will not hesitate to deny Quebec a spot in the playoffs.

Peer review: Look, this is a good start, but you should reconsider. Is a five-point scale really the best? Could you maybe restate these as opinions and then do "Strongly Agree, Agree, Neither agree nor disagree, Disagree, Strongly disagree"? Should there be a "no opinion" or "n/a" category (you mention that devolution isn't always relevant).

Also, there are such things as Fair Republics. What if people interpret that as natural beauty or respect for standards of equality and justice, rather than "below average"? Please rephrase. For that matter, a Poor Republic could just be one struggling to develop its economy.

Otherwise, this is a solid beginning to what will certainly be a seminal work in the important literature of ranking extremely complex societal institutions on five-point scales. Please resubmit when these changes are made!

Turtles Split Record With Third Loss; Hrynyk Expected to Return for Game 7

Byfugland, 9th ranked in the world, visited Sel Appa yesterday for the second match of the home-and-away qualifiers, dealing Sel Appa a 2-4 loss. This completes a turnaround from what was a 3-0-1 qualifying run by the Turtles and brings acting coach Jason Marks under increasing criticism for his more mixed style of play. Marks, in the absence of head coach Jan Hrynyk, has pursued a less solid defense in favor of a greater offense, leading Sel Appa to score more goals in one game than all 10 games of the 18th World Cup qualifiers when the team last contended.

Nonetheless, Marks was confident in the face of critical press "Im not going to back down in the face of my record. We stand now with a better record in 6 games than last time with 10. We are in third place and with a renewed focus on winning, we can qualify in one way or another." However, many commentators and fans remain unrepentant and hope for the return of Hrynyk, who has been recovering from bronchitis and pneumonia.

Hrynyk gave a statement in support of his assistant and said that he trusted the views of Marks. The popular former coach of the Anila City Apes, who regularly frustrated the Nemnen Turtles during his career, pursued a rock solid defense that saw only 4 goals taken and 6 conceded. Sel Appa ended up near the bottom of the group, but the strategy was widely regarded as brilliant. Hrynyks doctors said he should be ready to make the flight to the Free Swiss States for a rematch, but should keep any yelling and intense action to a minimum. Stars still hopeful of good campaign, even after losing to Estope.

Losing at Sunrisian field is always hard, but even after the loss by 4-3, another tight results between both teams, the coach Jean McConnery seems to be very positive about how the Northern Sunrise Islands team could be going forward. Main reason?

Jean McConnery, coach of the Stars wrote:We are the second-best ranked team at Group 3. We have made Plutoni lose. And to top it off, we handled it quite well until now without a lot of effort. So, obviously, this HAS to be our year!

ARENA CENTER, Kelsseck, ANN - Aquitayne claims victory over Group rival Kelsseck in a 4-6 victory, putting the AMNT back in 2nd place.

It was doubtful last week if Aquitayne would be proceeding to the Playoff rounds of the 21st World Cup of Hockey. Even now, that statement is still one that must be tread on warily. There is now a three way tie in Group 9 for first place, the largest tie for any position in any group of the entire World Cup of Hockey, making Group Nine the most hostile place to be right now. A lot of talent is centered in this group, and the new and unproven Aquitaynian National Team has been dropped right in the middle of it.

Surprisingly, they're doing extremely well.

Aquitayne beat their Group rival Kelsseck for the first time in the Group Stage today, as well as being the only team to beat them by more than a single goal. The athleticism displayed by the Aquitaynian Men's National Team was extraordinary as the wingers and strikers continuously assaulted the Kelsseckian goaltender, who simply couldn't keep up with the pressure of the speed and intensity Aquitayne brought with it tonight.

That's not to say the Kelsseckian Forwards didn't have an equally opportune night tonight, either. The Shots-on-Goal tonight were roughly even, with 26 Kelsseckian shots to Aquitaynes 23. Ultimately, though, it doesn't matter how many shots you take - it only matters how many dodge the glove. Aquitayne came close to scoring a seventh goal in the 6th minute of the Third period, but the puck deflected off the crossbar of the goal, to clang loudly into the stands along with a simultaneous "AWWHH" from the crowd.

It's interesting to note that throughout the entire group stage, Aquitaynian citizens (and/or simply fans) often outnumbered the home teams fans in their own arenas as long as it was an away event.

If we make it
to the playoffs,
we'll be competing
against the best the
world has to offer.
That's no understatement.

At home, almost all of the seats could be see as occupied by Aquitaynian fans, their faces painted blue and white, seemingly in the Playoff fervor that isn't anywhere near to being complete. It'll be even more exciting to see them act out if the team does in-fact make the playoffs.

When asked about the playoffs, Coach Holden Molotsky said calmly, "We're a new team here in the tournament. People shouldn't forget that. It's great we're doing as well as we are and that we're successful, but I'm not letting that get to the player's heads. They're working harder than ever to stay in shape for these next few matches which will ultimately decide our future in the tournament. Even if we make it to the playoffs, we'll be competing against the best the world has to offer. That's no understatement."

So, the ultimate question is this: Is Aquitayne ready, and mature enough to compete against the worlds finest? Are we prepared to fight for the title of World Champion of Hockey? Can we even make it through the first round of the playoffs?

Ultimately, we have to get there first.

Quebec wins against Saintland, climbs back into Second Place

Henry Power looks into the stands after the Knights' 4-2 win against Saintland. He saved 29 out of 31 shots and recording 0.9354% saving percentage in what was a huge home winner.

(Quebec City, Capitale-Nationale,Royal Kingdom of Quebec Quebec)-Well, let's just say that this is the 2.0 version of what happened back in St. Petrus last week. It was the day when both sides were clearly more interested in beating each other out, as the Royal Kingdom of Quebec Ice Knights outplayed the Kingdom of Saintland in what was a 4-2 victory. The Sanctii, severely defeated from the battle, vowed to play the spoiler role and deny Quebec the playoff spot.
" I'm not surprised, after what happened in the last match," said Maxwell Belmont-Deschamps, who entered into the match with a hat trick in the MD6 win over Sjovenia, on the pre-game skate. "However, I'm not that worried about that. We'll try our best too and win."

About 2 minutes into the period, Lucas Trebatius scored after a rebound from Matthaeus Artorius's wristshot. He took a perfect chance by the taking advantage of Henry Power's weak spot: rebound control. This initially shook up the crowd as they started to boo and then shouted 'Let's Go Nordiques' in all of Quebec's 3 official languages: English, French and Korean.

Then, things started to turn on Quebecois side.
Logan Guthrie, who's by far known as the World's Greatest Enforcer with 18 registered fights in just 7 games, flew his trademark punch on his first shift as he was skating around ice to hunt down Ioannes Bruccius. He, after mere 15 seconds that included an unfortunate giveaway, went into the fight with the Sanctii who suckerpunched him last time. This time, fate was on his side as he decked Ioannes with a haymaker, knocking him cold on the ice. The stand of 19,850 fans,99.75% Quebecois, in the Colisee de Quebec wildly cheered as Logan Guthrie was sent to the Penalty Box happily.

During the penalty, Henry Power saved an one-time from Matthaeus Artorius. He then passed it to Michael Kesler, who quickly skated forward and passed the puck over to Anthony Mantha. Mantha, using his natural talent, deeks out both defenders before scoring in his trademark wristshot. 1-1 for Ice Knights as the Colisee gets very cheerful and celebratory with Mantha's Shorthanded Goal. When Guthrie returned to the ice, Guthrie quickly picked fight on Lucius Herennius. They both landed some heavy blows, but neither were able to throw a critical punch and both players were sent off to the Penalty Box not long after. Other than that, they effectively shutted down the Sanctii with their physical style of play and speed. By the end of the first period, it was a 1-1 draw.

In the second period, the heat and fun continued.
Francois Decarie, who entered 5-game goal drought into the match, lighted up the house as he quickly took advantage of timely pass from Colm Strojovic 5 minutes into the period. The rest of the period did not see any scoring, but intensity continued as the fights continued. Colm Strojovic started all with punching Iosue Gavius right in front of his face. After landing the second-liner into the unconsciousness, he received the 5-minute call with a penalty, which fortunately did not affect the match.
It is uncertain whether Mr. Strojovic will receive a suspension for this call. We'll see more on that very soon.

After that, 6 more fights(3 by Guthrie, 1 by Belmont-Deschamps and 2 by Mantha) occurred, entertaining the home crowd. Home crowd, then cheered for the Ice Knights as the 5 of the fights were won in Quebecois hands. Unfortunately, Lucien Ryu, the best defenseman from the Ice Knights, was knocked out while blocking an one-timer shot from Matthaeus Flaminius. He was sent off for the match and did not return. It is most likely that he will sit out for the rest of the group stage, which obviously means bad for the already unstable Ice Knights' defense.
The period ended 2-1 in favour of Quebec, who still outplayed them well.

The third period began very quickly when Dave Clark, winning the first faceoff of the period, quickly rushed into the ice and shot at the Ioannes Laetonius. It went off his pads but Sylvain Turcotte then scored on a two-one-one, banging on Clark's rebound at 5:29 to seemingly put a nail in the opponents coffin. By the time, both sides were very exhausted and given up on fighting.
There were only major penalty that occurred during the period, which occurred with Marc Emond punched Petrus Pupius, smacking him right in the glass. He was sent into the penalty box for that but Sanctii were unable to take advantage. Kendall Torres added an insurance goal, poking in the puck into a gaping goal with a pass from Vladimir Tsoi. This effectively ended the game, as they were leading with 4-1 score. However, the crowd mostly remained in attendance during the last minutes of the match as it continued with heightened intensity from Sanctii. They were clearly behind and a goal from Abraham Otacilius was only able to compensate for their dreadful Game 7 at the 17th minute of the period.

The Ice Knights now place 2nd place in the Group 7 with 4 wins, 2 Draws and a loss. Tomorrow, they will visit Havl on their home as they hopefully vows to play better than how they did compared to last time. They were blanked in home last time when they lost 2-0.
While we cannot guarantee a win, hopefully the Ice Knights will play better and actually score over the mighty wall in the form of Davis Rich.

Because being sweet is too mainstream; bringing you the latest updates of the WCoH 21
With some annoying eyebrows and fake accent; haha!

Welcome back to your seventh installment of the raging podcast by yours truly, the Sour Kind, well well here's it, the Minnows failed to get past Mangolana with a 4-4 draw right at home, maybe they were feeling too much at home, wasteful in front of goal and poor defending became the subject of the match this evening. However let's take some positives out of today's match. The Minnows' attacking third has been pretty solid today, converting their chances. Twenty shots in this match as compared to Mangolana's thirty-five, much like to say that it was a game that is dominated in the centre. Coming into this match with a winning experience, the Minnows however failed to replicate their form away to Mangolana and failed to dominate.

The game also marked the Minnows' second third draw in the campaign. This also ensured that the top two spots were almost out of reach for the Minnows, with Mohawk Clans and Slembana ahead of the Minnows on two points and four points respectively. This was indeed the Minnows' worst attempt at qualifying after coming through the group stage undefeated in the previous campaign. "A loss is one too many", head coach Faron Wilson exclaimed once in the WCoH 20 semi-finals defeat to finalist Qazox 5-4. And it worked out a record that seems too ugly to look at.

As a fan here, I got to be honest, the team needs a serious revamp by WCoH 22, it's good to see the veterans holding the front sometimes, but there ought to be a leeway to youngsters to step up their game, instead of the lavishing conservative passing and careful shots, I'm rather more upbeat to see youngsters moving around fast getting their passes quick and neat and shots that are strong and powerful although they might be off position sometimes. This draw is awful and I hope the Minnows can come out of it and do something better than that.

With a narrow vicroty over Ko-oren, the Ice Bisons travelled to Torisakia and re-faced their toughest opponent in Group Two. However, the stress of the game would be too much for the Ice Bisons, seeing them fall by a lone goal to lose the match 3-2.

"A tough opponent who won that game rightfully," spoke Head Coach Kad Skirata at a post-game interview. "They shut down our offence, and the score reflects that."

Reflects, it most certainly does. Normally, the Ice Bisons manage at least thirty shots on goal or more in a World Cup match; however, this game saw the Ice Bisons kept at 29 shots on goal, with only two goals made the entire game, a tournament-low.

While the game started off in style, with the Ice Bisons scoring in the first two minutes and holding off the Torisakian offence for ten minutes, it would be Cassidy McKenzie who would score the equaliser at 12:31; a quick steal by Kristen White against the boards in the neutral zone would see a well-timed long pass to McKenzie , whose quick wristwork would catch our goaltender Zhao Hotaka completely off-guard.

"I just didn't see it coming. Such quick passes and a blindside from [McKenzie]. They deserved that goal."

Going into the second, it would be Torisakia who would break the tie, with Mathias Kristensen double-teaming with Alexei Borodin and White for a solid shot at 7:11. The Bisons would struggle to make it past the blue line; with a usual SOG of twelve or more in a period; the Ice Bisons managed only nine, with just one going to the back of the net; a lone slapshot from Kal Skirata on the pass from Kuruk Ikeda would trick Kevin Hautifi into reaching high just to see the puck fly low at just over eighteen minutes.

"Those kind of shots always are hard to predict," spoke Hotaka when asked about the opposite team's goaltending. "They start high, but you can only guess which altitude the puck will take; either spin too much and rise, or not enough and dip. You stick a glove up, try and push a pad forward, and the puck still goes through the gap."

With the third period fast approaching, the Ice Bisons were set into a deathlock of a game. Each team took turns exchanging shots, each netminder blocking and deflecting. However, it would take a classic move by Skirata in an attempt to boister the score by just one to make way for a Ice Birds goal; pulling Zhao at the nineteen minute mark. A few shots would be garnished from the Avatarian side with the sixth man --- Arnook Ishida --- until a loose puck would bounce towards the backskating McKenzie. A few moves later, she would get the puck free and a long shot would gently slide into the net with less than thirty seconds remaining in the game.

"We just couldn't stop her," stated Kad Skirata, who recently has been discovered to be messaging McKenzie on Facebook. "She was too quick, too fast, too determined... Once she got away, all we could do was watch her peel away."

Seems a little smitten...

Hollandsworth: Think about all the free agency these days, it's not like people are locked into these teams for their entire career, they can have old friends on other teams, no one's saying they dislike each other.

Peabody: Does anyone actually switch teams in Plutoni, though?

Hollandsworth: It's the principle of the thing.

Peabody: And then there are all these soft little half-communistic places, you don't think the players are commanding big salaries by getting sold all the time? No, they have these heated rivalries.

Hollandsworth: Not too heated, it's on ice.

Peabody: Oh blah blah blah, now it's just degenerating into puns. Look, it's probably not sanitary--

Hollandsworth: They're wearing gloves, obviously. Do you even care about hockey? Because even if you don't you should still be aware of dropping the gloves.

Peabody: They're dropping the gloves because they're fighting all the time, they hate each other--

Hollandsworth: No they don't, it's exaggerated, that's why it's good that they shake hands to show that they don't really--

Havl Shuts Out Valanora; Strengthens Lead of Group 7

Stormguard, Valanora – Jason State's two-goal game overshadowed another outstanding performance from goaltender Davis Rich. State scored twice to increase his tournament goal total to six, and Rich made 25 saves to help Havl shut out 13th-ranked Valanora 2-0 on Saturday night.

The 28-year-old Ilium winger, who is making his first World Cup appearance, opened the scoring at 5:37 of the first period on what looked to be a failed odd-man rush. Justin Donndelinger took a pass at the point from Brian Beierle, but fanned on his point shot. The puck came right to Gilles Lecompte at the side of the net, who bounced it off the post, and State was there to score the rebound. "It was a nice pass off the post," State said. "Gilles laid it up for me; gave me confidence early. It just happened tonight."

Jason State scored twice, providing the only offense for Havl.

The story of the game could have been Rich's shutout had it not been for the fact that he's had a lot of them lately. He picked up his fourth shutout of the tournament, the lead among Group 7's goaltenders. Three of Rich's shutouts have come in the last four starts he's had in the Havl net.

"I think this is what they call a system shutout," Rich said. "It was more about my teammates than me." Davis added that he's been working to focus in games where his teammates are picking up the slack. "It's just finding ways in games like tonight where you aren't seeing a lot of shots and your team is playing well that you don't have that 'brain cramp,' or that stand around moment when you haven't seen a shot in 10 minutes and all of a sudden one sneaks through," he said. "Part of it had just been me learning this year how to avoid those."

After seeing just four shots through the first 18 minutes of the third period, Rich and the Capital City-based squad had to kill off a penalty against the notoriously goal-stingy Calcuttas. With a minute left in regulation play, Donndelinger took a tripping penalty in the offensive zone. But Valanorian defenseman Caunlaiien Tanglinaelen missed a pass from Amonion Galaethrin and the puck went the distance for a short-handed empty net goal credited to State. "It was a strange goal, that's for sure," said State. "But I'll take it, especially that late in an important game."

The match marked the fourth time that Havl and Valanora have met in the World Cup of Hockey. Havl now leads the all-time series 2-1-1. "They're one of the world's best," said head coach Niklas Lindberg. "Any victory against Valanora is something special, but this one especially." With just three games remaining in the qualifying round, Havl's last remaining challenger might be The Royal Kingdom of Quebec. "We have games against Sjovenia and Saintland," added Lindberg. "We still have to play them, you know; just because they're unranked doesn't mean we're given an automatic win."

With the victory, Havl extends its lead of Group 7 to five points over Quebec and Valanora. Havl will have a lot on the line when 31st-ranked The Royal Kingdom of Quebec travels to Capital City as coverage of World Cup of Hockey XXI continues on HTVM Sunday evening live from Sparky Stadium.

None of us, have ever seen. Harrybo again. Oh! Uhh, David! Could you get me the pizza? Hello! So, we finally won an important game. Not only does this win give us hope, this win means that Gyatso-kai is no longer undefeated. Horray! And it was all thanks to Cassidy, who scored twice by the way. Now we just have to focus on these last three games and we'll be in the clear. Wheee! Anyways, I have another story to tell. Oh yes! So hows about we sit back and enjoy one of Murvin's favorite gameday stories, hm?

When I was in high school, we had a teacher who was so hot, you were allowed to slam her ass in her lessons. She used to stand out in the front saying "Alright. Who wants a go?," Anyways, I went to the game to with my friends and brother down in Copeland Arena. While I was there during pregame, I saw that same teacher I mentioned. She looked as hot as ever, *click* noice. So I went over to her to see if she remembered me. "Hello!" I said, "Remember me, Ms. Plamz? It's Murvin, Murvin Alexander. I was in your English class a few years back,"And all this time I'm talking to her, she is not taking any notice of Murvin, so that was that. Later on, we got to our seats and watched a fantasticgame! Cassidy scored twice and Mathias scored a goal. I posted the scoring summary below like always. What a lovely game, especially better than last time, I think you know what I mean...

After the game, we were about to head out to go back to the car. But before we got out the gate, a security guard stopped us. "Stop right there," said the man. He took us all the small room near the back of the arena. There we all were, breathing, very, very quietly. "Alright. Which one of you is the one who Ms. Mckenzie and Ms. Holbrook pelted with oranges yesterday?," I didn't raise my hand incase I said the wrong thing. Suddenly, my friend George said "Queen Juliana is a fat bananna,". PHLAT! I had to facepalm, in order to stop myself from saying lewd words. "I'm very sorry, George. But nobody, nobody at all wants to hear about Queen Juliana or fat banannas." I said. "Now, it was me who Cassidy and Jessica pelted with oranges yesterday sir." The officier looked at me and asked "Are you Murvin Alexander?". I looked all flustered and went red, I didn't know what to answer. In a weedy little voice I say, "Snatch," huh.

Not long after, I was taken to a nearby prison. I was charged with making lewd comments on a sports player. WOULD YOU BELIEVE IT?! I spent the whole night in that jail all for nothing! I'm so sad, can I cry? When I was released this morning, I was told that I couldn't make any lewd comments about Cassidy or any other member of the team and that if I did, my blog would be shut down permanently and it'd be the chair for me. Blimey! So that was that. I got home around 8 this morning, went inside my apartment as usual, and I noticed that my refridgerator was gone. WOULD YOU BELIEVE IT?! So now I have to buy a new refridgerator and new food. Teenage boy masturbators...

So that was a good story. Yes, all of it is true, my life is messed up. So I can't make any lewd comments about Cassidy or anyone else on the team, but I can say that Cassidy is hands-down the best player on the team thus far in our WCoH run. So it seems like letting chicks play on the national hockey team was a good idea. You're right! Quite right! But enough of that, I think it's time to move on to more important things, like the scoring summary:

Finally a good game from our defense, holding the Ice Bison to only two goals. I told you the defense would get better after a few games. But let's hope we're not too excited over this big victory, because we play an average TailsPower next. They don't pose too much of a threat however, they beat Neu Engollon 2-1 today and now sit at 3-0-4 and fourth place in Group Two. But they could be lying, maybe they are good and we just don't know it yet! Gah, when I post here tomorrow they're gonna keel over and die, I swear, swear they will!

LW: Garret O'Sears #9- The fastest skater in the Byfugland Hockey League. He has a weak slapshot but his puckhandling coupled with his speed make him dangerous. He can slice through any defensive scheme
C: Fyodor Makarov #91- Makarov has proven himself to be a solid presence in the lineup. He is quick, but strong. Has a lot to bring to the table.
RW: Rodrigo Gregorio #23- A speedy player who, when paired with O'Sears and Makarov, completes the fastest line Byfugland has to offer.

LW: Cliff Soricelli #74- Solid player on the penalty kill. Perhaps the toughest player to ever skate on Byfuglian ice. He is getting old, so his time is limited.
C: Colton Reed #25- Reed has a deadly combination of speed and strength. He doesn't score often but generates plenty of opportunities
RW: Albert Turziano #62- Completes the toughest line on the squad. Is a powerful presence down low.

Justin Byfuglien (C) #3- As supreme ruler of Byfugland and as one of the more talented offensive defensemen in the league, Byfuglien leads his squad on the powerplay on the point, as a terrific passer and solid shooter.
Alexandros Ivanov #6- Ivanov has the hardest slapshot in Byfugland, registering at 110 MPH. He is, however, getting slower as the years go by.

Forrest Mackins #49- Mackins, another shutdown d-man, is a hard checker and an excellent player along the boards. Mackins and Backman have established themselves as the most impermeable defensive pairing around.

Crusher McPersoncrusher #98- Back for his third year of hockey, he is a MMA fighter-turned-hockey player that is strictly used as an enforcer. Limited offensively.
Ryan Linderhagen #66- With a wicked slapshot and a better uppercut, Linderhagen is both a talented skater and fighter. He stands at 6'6", hence his number. He completes the enforcer-pairing of the Jets.

Goalies
Ryan Underhill #35- A fan favorite in Byfugland, Underhill has become one of the best goalies in the world after his dominant performance last year. Fans love to sing the "Underdog" theme to his name.
Scotty Carps #30- A hot prospect at the goalie position.

'HOME' STRETCH
Mico Toledo, El Diario Deportivo del Sangti

Sangti is in third place of Group 8 of the World Cup of Hockey 21, but too far behind Darmen and Michael VII, and has points too low to become one of the wildcards. In the halfway stage of the group stages, the Flaming Eagles are actually the WORST offensive team of all the participants, scoring only THREE goals, and it looks like the results are just repeating themselves (results, just not the scores). De ja vu?

Sangti began Matchday 6 in Isla Nespa's Arinespa since the riots in Ciudad Sangti caused damage to the ANS and deemed the venue unplayable. The score? 1-2. A loss. At least they scored. But Sangti's first home loss is a bitter pill to swallow.

Then came the visit to Alexandr Land. What happened? The Partos' hell broke loose. Remember them? They were once featured in my pre-group stage article. They rampaged an uninspiring side to a 3-0 demolition. Now comes the hard part.

The "home" stretch. Matchday 8 vs Darmen in Pilipin Repablik's Araneta Kolesiyum. Matchday 9 at Michael VII. Matchday 10 vs Soviet-German Dortmund at Pook Matiwasay at Alitaba. Why "home"? Because the Flaming Eagles no longer have a home match at Sangti, thanks to those morons from the German-Spanish Empire. Hope they CRASH OUT of the Baptism of Fire tomorrow.

Anyway, back at the matches in hand. The MD10 versus SGD is WINNABLE, however for the other two matchdays (Darmen and Michael VII), that's a very, very difficult task. However, this is Sangti's chance to take off points from either nation if they want to enter the knockout phase or even qualify as a wildcard.

Fearless prediction? Sorry Sangti fans, I myself would count my nation out. However this is a strong showing from a nation that made its debut in the WCoH. The team will be stronger next year. Qualifying for the next stage would be overacheiving already.

By the way, Vulpine Sportif has already released Sangti's jersey for this World Cup! Better late than never. The red one will be used in MD8, the away one in MD9 and the blue in MD10.

Ice Knights: Offensive Line Grades

The Ice Knights are now 3 games left to play in the group stage. They are currently in the 2nd place of the Group 7, ahead of Valanora and behind Havl by 5 points. Let's see how did our lines do during the matches and the grades given for their performance:

First Line
Grade: A-
In terms of statistics, they were on fire, scoring 11 goals and 22 points. Their team chemistry, while not the best in the World, has been great. Francois Decarie primarily served during the time as a passer and backchecker while Strojovic did all the playmaking and Belmont-Deschamps scoring, as well as providing some grit into it. However, at times, this gritty side caused some mistakes and penalties, which obviously aren't good for them. If fixed, this line could be the best Offensive line in the tournament.

Second Line
Grade: B-
They, on the other hand, experienced some problems scoring. They only recorded 7 points and even worse, just 4 goals. This is largely due to the changed role of the line, who primarily served as a shutdown line. While this provided some additional defense into the play, the offensive liability is also sacrificed. As the time passes, this will serve as an Achille's heel for them. Other than that, they are doing soemwhat decent.

Third Line
Grade: A+

This line was the most successful line out of all, with the marvellous chemistry between players and combination of their skills.
Logan Guthrie, the World's best enforcer, only scored 3 assists but performed very well on rest of the game. While he ends up in the Penalty box for half the time he enters the ice, Guthrie nevertheless plays very well with physical style of playing. He dropped gloves, cheapshoot, kill, check and rush while his linemates are quickly on their way to shoot and score. Excellent player.
Dave Clark, the high-scoring version of his father, notched 4 goals and 7 points. He provides all the grit and physical play needed, while still scoring a lot. While he didn't drop his gloves yet, he is not afraid to do so when needed. Expect him to be fill Logan Guthrie's spot as a primary enforcer when he retires. Sylvain Turcotte(who's also Clark's best friend since primary school and plays as his linemate as Kingston Knights), on the other hand, is a very clean, speedy winger well known for his playmaking abilities. His abilities truly shone in the tournament so far, as he, for so often, gets past his opponents with his skills and launch some one-timers.
Overall, this line did some great job and expect to do so.

Fourth Line
Grade: B-

While we only saw very little offensive production on this line, they nevertheless performed their roles very well. Novak, who surprisingly ended up at the line, and Sang Goo Lee added to this line's infamy with antagonizing opponents and delivering cheap shots. Anthony Mantha, on the other hand, primarily served as the Ice Knights' top penalty killer, as well as the main scorer on this line.
While they performed very well, they could've been better if the fourth liners stepped more on the offensive upsides and score, without sacrificing their defensive aspects of play.
