Not exactly sure why I received the TG for a high-quality economic organisation, since I'm always looking at my storefront and going 'ehr mah gerd it's sheet', but I would certainly be interested!

Alright, based on Maltropia's post, I have found out that a player by the name of Mizialand has earlier on launched his version of the OECD. In the interest of good etiquette and roleplaying, I have decided that it would be best to change the name of this organisation. Anyone out there have any recommendations for the name? It can be similar to our current one, that is of no problem.

The alternative is asking Mizialand to join us, which we have no doubt [our version of OECD] represent vastly more of the share of global economics & trade forum. However, that will be for Mizialand to decide, so I will telegram him with the apology for accidentally taking his organisation's name (without realising it, of course), and at the same time ask him whether he would be interested to join our assembly of nations.

I have read most of the posts, and I will reply individually to each and everyone of them.

However, there is one that caught my attention immediately, and I think is best be clarified as soon as possible.

The opportunity is indeed endless, however, I personally do not think that enforcing anything of the sort of 'global', 'international' or 'world' recession or the likes will be a sign of good roleplaying etiquette - unless this organisation will have more than 1,000 nations in it (which is very unlikely).

What people has often missed (and understandably) is that our NationStates world is not the same as real life - there are various communities in our world. We cannot enforce our version of thing to them, as that is bad roleplaying and in fact, a bit of godmodding - their nation is theirs to control and theirs alone. On top of that, it is a bit too grandiose as the supposed NationStates multiverse is a large world, to impose anything of the like of 'global' or 'worldwide' or 'international' recession and the likes.

I would like to hear anyone's opinion to the above opinion of mine (if there is any). If anyone agrees or disagrees, feel free to voice it here, and we can discuss this point made by Macedonia together.

Yohannes, yes, you are exactly correct that we cannot 'enforce' anything. What we can do is promote something.

I also agree that, due to the scale of and groups within NationStates, we cannot have an actual NS-wide 'global' situation. None the less, as certainly events throughout the history of NationStates have illustrated - most recently and directly related to this topic in particular being the economic crisis that stemmed from the Gholgoth blockade - we can still have a 'global' incident that affects a vast number of players, thus being considered, by NationStates standards, 'global'.

And that is where we can build from. Had the blockade of Gholgoth and corresponding global economic collapse been organized a little bit, and the actual cause being better roleplayed (as opposed to a random nation randomly blockading the region, which the region surprisingly decided to run with), then the economic crisis that transpired could have been even more profound. If we were to assist in planning a simple foundation and structure - nothing more than a basic guideline to keep things rolling - then we easily could do something fantastic with that, and it would last more than 2-3 weeks. GE&T was rejuvenated as a whole for the first time in a very long time, and the roleplayed reactions and effects - while short lived - made things extremely intriguing and interesting.

I agree with you ViZion. Good point, the organisation and cooperation bit is and - I guess sadly - will always be the weak link in roleplaying anything like that.

About the name change - if Mizialand decide to reject our offer of joining us, what name would you consider as a good replacement for this organisation?

How about 'Organisation for Economic Development and Relationship'?

Well, to be respectful I think a little bit more differential would be a good idea. But to keep with a similar theme, we could go with Organization of Economic Advancement, or if we really wanted to still use those words... Cooperative Economic Development Organization would be another option.

Also, since I wrote many international treaties, I could provide the OECD also a Founding Charter (or a similar agreement).

Unfortunately, I will have to reject this offer.

Personally, I believe it would be a great idea also to have a forum out of the game, where to better organize and discuss.

I personally feel that we should stick to the Global Economics & Trade forum in NationStates. Why? So that we can generate exposure and periodical bump for even more prospective memberships and interest.

I don't have any storefront or any kind of business activity at the moment (although, I'm starting to think about it), but I would be interested in joining the OECD.

You don't have to have a storefront or major storefront to join us (though it is good to have one). As long as you like to roleplay your nation's commerce and trade (and by this, I don't mean the usual boring conference, etc, I mean as in detailing your nation's commerce and trade more everywhere - in your factbook, various RP posts, etc) and you are a decent writer (even this can be put aside on a case-by-case basis) and have good roleplaying etiquette, then you are more than welcomed to join us!

New Tarajan has a strong economy, and I could provide the organization with diplomatic and political aid and support, organizing conferences and other kinds of summit too.

Many other nations in this group are players of Global Economics & Trade. Lamoni (LAIX Arms and Lyran Arms), Anemos Major (Anemonian State Armaments Export Authority), Maltropia (lots of market participation for him), Kington Langley (CuppaCoffee, and others) ViZion (lots of market participation), et cetera.

So the definition of a 'strong economy' is a bit redundant in this group, as some tend to have strong economies already. We regard everyone as equals, and so long as you are interested to join us, then we will welcome you with open arms. In regard to conference or the likes in the future, we will definitely have that - though only after we have got this group off the ground.

I'm generally opposed to the idea of offsite forums; I know I, for one, don't like to commit myself to more forums than I'm already on, and plenty of people have expressed similar opinions in the past. I don't think we'd need much more than an OOC thread.

On offsite forums; I'd say they were pretty unneeded. GE&T is fairly slowish (Compared to say, F&NI), So even a small number of threads should be able to hold most discussion.

At least that's my initial thought.

Regarding off-site forums idea, for this organization, I don't really see the need. Not at this time anyway. If it were a region or a larger alliance, then sure. But this organization, as it stands, doesn't need it.
