Busan, Neo-Korea

As he looked upon the forces that had been rapidly gathered for the next-campaign, Mitya wondered if this was a metaphorical burning of the bridge.

He had been called-upon rapidly, even in comparison to the CGC’s other interventions, and he supposed that was either a sign of respect or a sign they wanted to get rid of him during the conflict itself, although, to be entirely honest, neither option would change the nature of Neo-Korea’s participation itself.

It had taken him 3 days to gather all the forces and fleet assets he required to travel to Colstrea, and thus, there was no more time to waste debating with himself when there was action to be taken, and so, he stepped unto the ship that would become his home for however long it took to get there.

Hopefully, this voyage would not be too long.

CH-53E Foxtrot Foxtort landed in Port Nithu
Sergeant Alexander Rico; Desert Fox Squad

With the help of the Marajarbian Federation humanitarian forces, Desert Fox Squad under the command of Sergeant Rico was able to unload and distribute supplies at a very fast rate. The amount of living casualties being addressed and presented to Alexander's Corpsmen was insane. Apparently a day ago or so, Port Nithu had experienced a brutal attack. Massive amounts of civilians had been involved and as such, Rico had contacted First Sergeant Jackson who then passed along the word for reinforcements. Two hours after their call and the sky was littered with MV-22B's and additional CH-53E's loaded with supplies medical reinforcements. So bad was the situation that a temporary medical tent had to be erected to begin treating wounded, injured, and anyone capable of being treated right away. Those that needed additional treatment were quickly airlifted on the next flight off to the hospital ship.

The amount of children impacted by the war was insane. Almost every second child Sergeant Rico saw was either bloody or severely injured. Since they erected their tent and temporary distribution point, over five hundred people had arrived. Half of that was severely injured but capable of being released a short time later. A large minority of that needed additional treatment on the CSS Compassion. It was an insane situation at present and the efforts of the Anagonian Humanitarian Fleet were now divided entirely between Acur and Port Nithu, with everything else on hold. So long as the civilians kept coming, the Anagonians and Marajarbians would be there to tend to the wounded and distribute supplies. Once everything had been checked acceptable Desert Fox Squad would load up the tents and everything else to report for debrief on board the CSS Mythica, where they'd likely be sent out again in a quick turnaround.

Operation Pyrite

Postby Gonswanza » Sat Oct 01, 2022 6:02 pm

Even as the war raged on, Laura Ortiz narrowly survived a bullet against her back home. Yet, she decided to proceed with the next "great operation" against the technate, snickering in her bed, while signing off on the Reaper's latest mission as the headlines rolled in of "thousands" of civilian casualties, with dozens more homeless. Despite the harsh loss, she believed that the technate were still holding strong, either due to humanitarian aid or other reasons, but she doubts that it could last long regardless.

ISIC:
The reapers were called in for a mission brief, Operation Pyrite.

The next targets were Ostrea and possibly even Bradia or Satrenia if Bradia is taken by the socialists before the Reapers could arrive.

The intent is to cause massed civilian casualties, flying in through neutral territory, then launching from neutral territory, beyond Gyzantian borders, to further fuel the idea of the socialists having an invisible hand from foreign neighbors.

No chemical weapons are to be used, nor will they be nuclear. Purely conventional weapons, like last time, though with a far crueler twist as some of the missiles had submunitions rather than a purely conventional warhead.

Due to the possibility of air defense systems, the "buddy" drones will be deployed and used to jam radars and act as a passive defense, along with intercepting aircraft and, if need be, performing SEAD by targeting radar sites.

Of course, with that mission given, the reapers once again prepare for the mission, aircraft being fueled and loaded up, the heavy payload of KH-101s also loaded up quickly before they roll down the runway, one after another.

It's believed that the submunitions would help ruin morale even further, beyond the demolition of notable apartment blocks and hospitals, by adding unexploded "mines" which would have likely failed to detonate on impact. Hence, this was not at all a mission for the faithful, but one meant to instill terror and distract from the war itself.
Praise our glorious leader Laura Ortiz!

The Battle for Fylonia has begun. Socialist troops have begun launching attacks with the captured A-12 tanks being used to spearhead the push. Socialist fighters have begun attacking military installments in the area, being almost uncontested after the redeployment of Technate fighters into Colstrea. Another force in the south was beginning to push into Bradia, an important city to capture with the retreating Technate troops from Assora still fighting off the Socialists.

Avis Island, an island off the coast of Gyzantia and Deronia, was seized by Deronian paratroopers. With little to no defense, it ended in a bloodless surrender. This has caused outrage in the Technate, that an ally of theirs, seized their territory when they are on their weakest. Embassies of both nations have closed, as the Deronian President declaring Article 10 of the East Fraconia Pact, which signals their exit from the alliance.

Over in the city of Galasia, the situation has gone into chaos, which prompted the Marshall of the Commune to declare "martial law" in the city, with IFVs, APCs and tanks moving into the city to control the situation.

Nothing happened after the gunfire stopped, but a few minutes later, a tank fires its ammunition towards one of the BRDMs, causing its explosion. Some Gyzantian soldiers in the area, being militia and not that properly trained, saw this attack as a signal to push. They stood up and rushed into the BRDMs, hoping that they can force these vehicles to surrender. The tank crew, after reloading. is contacting their radio operator, but decided not to, as to not blow the cover of other soldiers, but the militia surrounding the BRDMs would make it risky to attack the Oceanian vehicles, as firing at them would also damage, or kill their fellow soldiers.

Seeing nothing to happen the gunner from the BRDM covering the left flank grabbed a radio and pressed the button on it to allow him to speak to the other 3 BRDMs "Uhh I ain't seeing anythin-" those were the last words that 3 scout cars would be heard along with an explosion as when the Gyzantian tank hit the Scout car it caused it to explode sending its turret into the air before landing.

"ah shit contact incoming hostiles!"

"where did it come from?!"

"Everyone retreat I'll radio back to the convoy you 2 cover our retreat!"

With that, they started firing both 7.62 co-axial machine guns in the 14.5mm KPV machine gun at the charging soldiers although due to the limited gun depression they couldn't hit those that got close to them and had to ignore them while they were turning around to retreat the command BRDM had to radio backed to the convoy about the situation.

"Scout to convoy enemy spotted grid 26, 23, 27, 21 they took out Jenkin with something I'm guessing it must be an Anti-Tank Guided Missile or Rocket Launcher we are retreating back to you" a response quickly came from the convoy "Roger that make your retreat back here and we'll continue on from there" and so that's what did he started retreated their guns pointed backward firing at the Militia troops.

The militia, thinking that the retreating BRDMs would be fired at by Gyzantian tanks, were confused, but by the time they realize what was happening to them, it was too late. One of the militiamen said their last words:

"Shit, where are our tanks? They are literally expos-"

Gunfire from the BRDMs killed the militia units that pushed, numbering to a total of 22 militiamen. The tank, simply moved away from its position, thinking that it might have been exposed to the enemy forces.

Admiral Dargon was busy receiving reports: weather, tide, depth, and meantime his staff were confirming positions of the ships of his squadron. The cruiser, called the Brobdignag, had been positioned in a patrol area to seaward, where she could monitor the air picture and provide cover against an air attack. She was flanked farther out by one of the attack submarines, which was currently running shallow but quiet.

One destroyer and one frigate had moved to support the landward bound freighters, keeping careful watch on them, and each having their helicopters out to watch for unexpected shore based or small boat attacks. Dargon sweated just thinking of what havoc a number of speedboats packed with shoulder mounted or crew served weapons could do to big ships moving in slow in a harbour.

The rest were guarding the carrier, farther out to see, with the corvettes fairly close to it to provide further protection against small vessels. It seemed that time crept by with horrible slowness, as though snails were bearing each second in a plodding, quiet way. Dargon pretended, however, to have no feelings as his aide flipped through the pages of the operational order, speaking quietly and respectfully. The Admiral nodded now and then.

Prince Jusus was monitoring the first land, and there was a muted cheer around him and his staff when the last of First Company was reported to have landed. Dargon glanced up to see the Prince's smiling face. "First in," said Prince Jusus. "We cannot hold back my boys with inaction."

Dargon was about to reply, when suddenly a message came from the Gyzantians. Relief flooded him. "We are cleared to continue landing at Hatrap by the Gyzantians," he said, waving the printed out sheet. Another cheer went up, and applause. "Please convey this," he told his ADC, "To the ship commanders of the freighters. Land according to the operational orders."

This called for the infantry to be landed first, followed by armor and artillery and then the support units.
A message was sent back to the Gyzantian Command:

Code: Select all
To: Coast Guard and Army Command, Gyzantian Forces Hatrap
From: Admiral Dargon, Royal Sombreland Expeditionary Force
Encryption: Most Secret

Your information is most welcome. Thank you for your SAM overwatch; it is very comforting to hear.

We are landing nearly 15,000 Royal Marines at Hatrap. Where would you like them to deploy? Clearly they cannot simply remain clogging up your port. We would like to have an initial land staging area for them, which would ideally permit them to establish perimeters, air and artillery defense positions and so on.

Prince Jusus, who is the commander of our Royal Marines, will also be inbound to join with the First Company and meet area command in person to solidify a plan to deploy the Royal Marines, He will be accompanied by my Naval Operations Commander who will be asking, on my behalf, how to best make use of our fleet. We would normally simply use them to provide various kinds of support for our Marines, but if there are other ways they could help, please let us know.

Captain Hochard, the First Company commander, greeted Lieutenant-Colonel Wes Amon with a salute and a look of friendly pride. He introduced himself and his officers, and gladly accompanied them to the mess. The Royal Marine officers were all young men of good family, deeply loyal to their country's monarchy, and intensely curious about the strange new country they found themselves in. They were particularly curious about what lunch would consist of, but of course they were also very interested in the military situation. These young men, including their commander, had no idea what complications were being experienced at higher level command. They were just pleased to have carried out the first foreign landing in many years with no injuries or accidents, and wanted to present themselves as friendly, dignified and professional.

Back when he was a cadet, Hochard had presented himself in an ancestral temple and dedicated his spirit to the service of the Kingdom. In this, he was fulfilling vows that ancestors had made, to all the kings and queens of Sombreland, and he had burned a little effigy of himself there so that he had already symbolically died. Like other officers who had done this, he had thus dedicated his life's purpose to service.

Meanwhile, the freighter carrying the infantry began to slow its approach as it entered the harbor and began to approach its designated pier.

THE SOMBRELAND SENTINEL

VOL. 32 NO. 24

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 29, 2022

CITY FINAL

Royal Fleet in Gyzantia!

HATRAP, Gyzantia--Sombreland sailors and Royal Marines have arrived in the foreign nation of Gyzantia! One of the first major foreign focused actions of the Regent's government has been to send an expeditionary force to support the Technate of Gyzantia, a foreign kingdom largely being led by the surprisingly young Prime Minister, Simon Herzland. Mr. Herzland's policies, which are aimed at ending a national famine and keeping the nation together, have resulted in civil war. Foreign nations that are supporting rebels determined to sell the nation's resources are supporting a rebellion by a so-called Republic of Gyzantia. Others are supporting a sinister plot to destroy the natural order of monarchy and the class system called socialism.

While some military personnel, bribed by food from country folk who refuse to follow orders and share so much as a crumb of food with city dwellers, have joined the rebels, others are fighting valiantly to protect the rightful order and be loyal to their monarch and his appointed government.

The expeditionary force of Sombrleland, freshly equipped and trained by equipment and munitions from Wolf Armaments, are going to strike a fierce blow to protect a fellow monarchy and worthy nation. The Regent's government, which is determined to bring Sombreland onto the world stage, will show that it is a contender worth paying attention to.

The food offered in the cafeteria was, basic, for the standards of Gyzantian cooking. Sunny side up eggs, bacon, and small amounts of rice were given to every soldier, with one of the Gyzantian soldiers asking about the reason why his plate was not full. He was immediately stopped by his fellow soldiers, to avoid making a bad impression to the Sombreland's First Company.

Back in Hatrap, personnel of the local Coast Guard have spotted the freighter, carrying Sombreland's infantry forces. They assisted the freighter to dock properly, and ordered the ship to drop its anchor. Greeting the first infantry landing is a handful of Technate soldiers and local people greeting the arrival of foreign forces. Small flags of Sombreland are being held by some children, waving them with joy and happiness, being happy that their city will be more secure with their arrival.

General Prodhan has arrived in Hatrap, looking at the temporary HQ of the Northern Forces HQ being built in Hatrap, with tents being set up and communications being connected with the rest of the Technate. When connected, he was able to receive a message from the Central Forces HQ, informing him of events that occurred while he was gone and moving into Hatrap. Learning of the newly-sent message that was transferred by the Coast Guard in the city from Admiral Dargon, he decides to immediately make a reply.
To: Admiral Dargon, Royal Sombreland Expeditionary Force
From: General Aliss Prodhan, Commander of the Northern Forces
Title:Setting Up Your HQ and Future Plans

After the attack in Port Nithu, where our Norther Forces HQ is stationed, we have moved it to Hatrap, and are setting up a temporary HQ, while we build or find a good enough structure to function as our HQ. You may set up the HQ near our area, so we can easily coordinate and relay information to each other.

You may also start the deployment of your forces into the frontline. Our navy is about to arrive in our port in a few days, and the naval commander of our fleet can be contacted for any coordination between the fleets of our nations.

A band was playing , albeit not correctly, the anthem of Colstrea. Sutherland would meet with a man in a suit, with bodyguards around him, declaring himself to be Peter Hess, the President of Colstrea. He was attending an opening ceremony of a new hospital kilometers away from the port, and after hearing of the arrival of the Countesian forces, he decided to meet them and thank them personally for their arrival in Colstrea.

Northern Colstrea

Sutherland saluted in return and greeted the force of volunteers that had come to meet him and his his own soldiers with a firm handshake and some light-hearted banter. Their introduction was cut short as small orchestral band arrived. Not sure what they were here for, he was taken aback when they began to play music. Sutherland was impressed at the intensity of the reception that had assembled before him, complete with a band and all. He made sure to congratulate them after their performance, and although they may have played the anthem wrong, Sutherland would never know since he had never heard the anthem before. After ten minutes or so of waiting after that, Sutherland finally saw a limousine approaching him. He felt slight amusement as he expected something less civilian but kept it to himself. As soon as the limo came to a halt he went to greet the stranger who revealed himself to be none other than the Colstrean head of state himself, who had taken a detour from a nearby ceremony to greet him.

"Well, it is a absolute honour to be greeted by none other than Peter Hess himself. I'm very grateful for the welcome party you managed to assemble at such short notice, you should be proud of the nation you've fought to built." Sutherland said as the two men took a short walk "The Federal Parliament of Countesia is fully prepared to help your people secure their independence, and we've come not only with soldiers, but with arms and ammunition that we hope can be put to good use for your cause. Now, if you don't mind I would be very interested in a full situational rundown as to what's happening here"

Peter Hess responded to him with the following sentences:

"Thank you for the compliments, and also to the weapons you will give to our cause. From what I have heard, the band that played our anthem was made in a rush, as more nations help us liberate our homeland. I cannot give the specific details of the situation of our nation, but in general, the foreign nations and our militia forces are nearing the stronghold of Gyzantian forces in Colstrea. There are some artillery attacks in Dessin, but we can't do anything. We have been making plans for the invasion of the island of these artillery forces. I will try to contact an officer to guide your forces with theirs to the frontlines. Once again, I thank you for the support!."

As time was running out in his schedule, Peter Hess ends their conversation with a farewell. He rides the limousine and departs. He and his nation has garnered so much support for their cause. He gives one big sigh of relief.

Enter the lieutenant once more, a look of deep melancholy plastered across his face.

"Sir," he sighed, "we've got a problem."

The half-awake captain, slumped in his recliner, slowly arose...his empty bottle of red wine rolling off of the chair; filling the room with a loud crash as it slammed into the floor. Indeed - if it weren't the lieutenant who'd get Hakobjanian up and about...the noise would. Besides - he was quite the drinker...and the collector too, having found many a joy in storing old wine bottles in his study back home. Yes, Twas a bit of an odd hobby...but it made him happy - and, in a way, - Twas all that mattered to him. Glancing down upon the broken glass, he shook his head...for he knew that - if anything - Twas most certainly involving them. Those whom he had been given the order - be it by his superior officers or by God - to cut down in their prime.

"What is it, lieutenant?"

Staggering towards the table, he pointed at but one of many cities marked in red. Twas socialist territory - no doubt...and the force wasn't willing to drive itself through the hellscape just to get one job done. Besides - they'd probably have better luck were they to go head-to-head with the technate...at least then they'd have a slight bit of support. In the south, though? Twas no surprise that - alongside the lieutenant himself - knew one thing...were they to fight there un-aided, they'd be fucked.

"We've got good reason to believe that they've gone here," the lieutenant said, "that's way too far in-land."

Hakobjanian nodded, promptly slumping back into his chair...for he knew the plan was, for now, done for. No more in-and-out...no, they'd have to fight...and fight they would for many a day - or many a week - or even many a month...if it meant that Twas all worth it.

"Lieutenant, where are we?"

"Northern Colstrea, sir.", the young officer responded, "Should I give them the mes-"

"Of course, lieutenant. Make it quick," Hakobjanian interjected.

"Aye, sir."

Sergeant Alexander Rico; Desert Fox Squad

Sergeant Rico finished packing up the last of the equipment. The Marajarbians had left some time ago to some other city that needed help, while Alexander and his squad had finished packing everything up. All who could have been helped, were helped. Those that were in a medical room on board the hospital ship had been accounted for and would be returned home when they were well enough. Everything else had been done as best as possible to provide as much comfort and aid as possible to those in Port Nithu. Once the supplies ran out for this area, that was it, and they had to turn away anyone else. Medical needs weren't, not for the initial stages of packing up, but after a while even those were turned away as the remaining needs had been superficial.

Once the CH-53E's and MV-22B's had been packed, the sky was alight with Anagonian rotary aircraft as they headed back in sequence towards the LHD. Rico and his squad would get some much needed rest, if the Commodore or First Sergeant allowed. After that, it would be back to the grind.

Forward Humanitarian Base Acur Alpha

First Sergeant Jackson managed the final stages of the forward bases construction overnight, helping to set up some final storage tents. Once that was done, personnel flooded in from the humanitarian fleet offshore and the base came to life. It was a vibrant display of lights as personnel rushed with purpose between tents frequently and often. Helicopters were landing with additional civilians needing medical attention that didn't immediately require the use of the hospital ships facilities. Acur Alpha was in the process of receiving wounded and injured from as far north as Fauxia, but the immediate attention had been shifted towards the west of the base with assisting Assora. Humanitarian drops and supply runs were frequent now and everything was running like a charm.

So long as all the factions continued to play nice, the Humanitarian Operations would run smoothly. So far, no one attacked them.

As the Marajarbian Peacekeepers worked with the Anagonians, the Marajarbian Government was receiving reports of the overall brutality of the conflict, and the reports of very injured children was very shocking and uncomfortable to many in the Marajarbian Government.

The damage the peacekeepers had seen was far too much, with many of the sides in this civil war already having burnt-down buildings and crumbling infrastructure, so much so that it made the Marajarbian Government wonder as to which nation, or nations, involved in such a brutal conflict would commit to such atrocities.

In order to be able to handle more humanitarian matters in this conflict, the Marajarbian Parliament is deciding on whether or not to send any reinforcements, and the entire government has also called on its current allies to intervene on the humanitarian side as well.

The Battle Of Colstrea

Postby Civia Welephilostopia » Sun Oct 02, 2022 3:35 am

The CWVD had finally made headway in Colstrea, the spearhead of a CR attack the officer in charge would radio in a bold new plan.

"We are making good progress but our reinforcements are struggling to catch up."

"Remember your objectives, to take the surrounding suburbs."

"But that's the thing sir."
"If we wait for other troops to capture the other suburbs our progress will be slowed to a turtles pace."

"And you have a way to solve that?"

"Simple, Gonswanan bombers bomb the hq of the enemy and we attack government buildings, force the civilian government to surrender, then capture the enemy soldiers."

"Sounds risky."

"I now sir."

"Well don't go killing yourself then."

"So the plan is a go ahead?"

"Affirmative."

And with that the plan would be (hopefully) put into action. Command would radio in Gonswanan and allied bombers to bomb the enemy troops and most importantly hq while the CWVD would assault and attempt to drive deep into the city and force a surrender.

[105 Pilot]: "Wilco, coming in nice and fast. Pickle!"

So were the words, as a lone J-105 strike fighter screams in, before dropping two heavy 500lb iron bombs upon the target, racing away as a SAM from a shoulder-fired launcher soon races up to meet them. Yet, the smart deployment of flares draws the missile away, as the aircraft carries out other strikes elsewhere in the ruined city. Artillery soon closes in upon the region, with heavy mortars slamming the outskirts, as tanks and infantry scramble over the airport.

The battle for Colstrea hasn't truly begun proper short of the various bombing runs to soften up the enemy and the spare artillery strikes, but at this rate, it was due to end rather quickly.

The same can't be said further north, however, with the airport situation becoming a dire meatgrinder for both sides. Drones have now shifted from the city to the airport, attacking defensive positions from above.

ISIC:
Reaper Squadron is still en route to the area, satellites gathering information about the targets as a blackbird crew is being briefed on their own mission. To further the accuracy of the strikes, they were meant to highlight targets and help guide the cruise missiles in, though whether or not they'd make it in time was obvious.

Gyzantian Sea (or whatever the proper name for the area above Colstrea is.)
24 hours after Departure from Busan

It had, (extremely) luckily, not been too harsh a voyage, the arrival of the fleet to what could he considered Colstrea’s naval territory going remarkably quickly.

While Mitya had been expecting a bit more of an organized resistance to the importing of more soldiery, it seemed that their enemies had been unable to gain true naval influence over Colstrea, and thus it was only a matter of getting permission to dock before he could turn his mind to the more important land campaign.

With the gaining of the ability to dock being crucial, he decided to get it out of the way first.

OFFICIAL REQUEST TO DOCK.

Neo-Korea would officially like to request the right to dock in the Colstrean city of Dessin, for the purposes of being able to land troops to support the Colstrean battle against the hostile forces currently occupying key territory.

If this request is acceptable, please respond.

The Oceanian convoy finally grouped up with the Gonswanzan and other allied troops to capture Colestra the reason they arrived late was that an earlier ambush lead to the group being cautious and slow so they wouldn't end up dead like a certain BRDM. Finally, at the outskirts, they could hear the sounds of gunfire and explosions caused by both sides before they went in Oceanian artillery units set up an M102 howitzer at a distance away from the airport, and 120mm M52 mortars were set up to hit targets that the M102s can't hit and Anti-Air units were set up behind the Howitzers and provided defense against aerial targets.

With the final preparations done the Oceanians started their advanced overhead a pair of OGA-2Ks flew over the convoy and off into the city to locate and neutralize the enemy occasionally firing off flares to prevent getting hit by friendly and enemy anti-air missiles taking the lead of the assault was a T-55AM2B with other tanks and armored vehicles following behind the vehicles were troops although the troops never got advanced with the lead T055 as they don't want to get hit by the shrapnel and explosion if the said T-55 was to get hit by the enemy and either end up as a catastrophic kill or a Jack-in-the-box kill

The Marajarbian Government, citing how the Gyzantian Civil War has gotten so brutal, has officially called for a coalition between Technates and the Humanitarian Forces trying to win this war. This is primarily due to the Technate and many humanitarian nations sharing similar ideals in rebuilding the region, due to the brutality of such a conflict having harmed a variety of noncombatant forces and destroyed critical infrastructure, including major bridges and ports such as Port Nithu.

Hatrap, Ground Operations

With a jaunty march, played by a fine orchestral band on the upper deck, the second wave of Royal Marines came marching down the gangplanks, each wearing a great pack, armed with a rifle, some with sniper weapons, some of them with light general purpose machine guns, some carrying component parts for mortars, some carrying shoulder launched weapons over their shoulders. Overwhelmingly they were young men, barely more than boys, with faces that were handsome, plain, ugly, but generally ordinary. They came from the lower military caste and this was not so much something they felt ideologically driven by as it was simply duty that drove them. It was their duty to obey the aristocratic military caste as it was the duty of that aristocratic caste to obey the Monarch. But they were all curious about the strange country they had found themselves in.

Once they were on the pier, they were immediately moved by company to temporary staging areas designated nearby to wait for their vehicles. The second freighter moved to another pier and began to unload the Marines' APCs, scout vehicles, tanks, engineering vehicles, transport vehicles, and artillery. Right now, it was the operations and logistics officers and their teams of NCOs whose main work was being done. After a few hours, the Royal Marine Division would have properly landed and would begin moving the force to join the line. Wherever that was.

That was the chief concern of Prince Jusus, the Major-General of the Royal Marines. He was a tall thin man, and he had picked the initial march music himself, and also the other tunes that were played with care to make sure it kept the men in good spirits. For he felt that it was important that he not simply take obedience and enthusiasm for granted as his right, but that he encourage the best work possible. Like his ancestor who had fought the Ziph when that indigenous folk had contested the Sombreland Highlands, he would share the privations and struggles of his men where possible.

Prince Jusus and his staff divided. One half were devoted to the landing, coordinating with both the Gyzantians and the Royal Navy to get the division ashore. The other half were focused on what had happened at Port Nithu. They wanted to get some idea of what the enemy had there, what strength there was, what equipment and so on. He also coordinated with Admiral Dargon to get a flight of Blackfly Drones headed in that direction.

The first thing he and his staff would do, most important of all, was to greet General Prodhan and his staff with exquisite courtesy, as they were the hosts. "Alas," the Prince would lament, "That we cannot spend this time in pleasant conversation and celebration, but I fear that, given the circumstances, we must focus simply on duty...but may I say that it is a great delight to make your acquaintance, General. The Admiral, Dargon, sends his regrets that he cannot be here..."

He would observe to General Prodhan that there appeared to be two areas to focus on: Port Nithu and Sikklosa. What he needed to know was where his forces would be of the most use, and what obstacles they would face in getting there, and what their particular objectives should be when they got there.

Hatrap, the First Marine Company
Meanwhile, the Royal Marine officers at the stadium marveled at the strange way of serving eggs, so that they were spread out on the plate, and found them interesting of taste. They asked the officers they were with what was going on, what the rebels and their allies were like, and what they should expect. They also asked if they could share some of their rations with their new comrades? If the answer was yes, they produced (with apologies) Doggy Bags. These were produced, they explained, by the international armaments company Wolf Armaments.
It turned out that each Marine officer had the following:

Entree: Mashed eggs and sausage bits.
Side: Shredded Potatoes with caramelized onions, herbal seasoning mix, in a Onion Sauce.
Desert: Coffee Cake.
Liquid: CoFaco (Coffee Coco mix, good hot or cold) Instant liquid Package.
Snacks: Three Protein Bars (Chocolate, Strawberry, Grain).

"Tell you the truth," mused the captain, "I'm not sure that we have an infinity of these. We normally carry different stuff.."

"We got 500,000 of them with the new expenditure," a knowledgeable corporal informed him, "So we have a lot of them, sir. 3 meals in each pack, that's about 1.5 million of 'em."

"Thank you, corporal, your presence is not needed," said the captain.

Hatrap, Air Operations

The six Blackfly Drones were fixed wing Naval drones that had been configured to focus on land as well as air targets. They were crewed by six Naval air personnel back on the carrier. Each looked almost like a dragonfly with a big bulbous head. Moving at a cruising speed of about 313 kmph, 3 headed for Sikklosa, and three headed for Port Nithu. Each Blackfly used numerous smaller high-powered cameras in a mosaic to video and auto-track every moving object within a 100 km area. This system used a object tracking software that allows users to auto-track every moving object within the field of regard (100 km) and generate geolocation chronographs of each individual vehicle and pedestrian's movements, making them searchable via geolocation query. As the system floats above the target location for months at a time, investigators are able to rewind time and see the target's, among other queries, every movement; the ARTSIS system captures 5.2 million pixels each to create an image of about 1.86 billion pixels, video is collected at 12 frames per second producing several terabytes of data per minute. The Blackfly's other standard camera systems can accurately spot and track targets up to 18 km away and can survey large areas. What they were searching for was the activity of the rebels and their allies.

Dear Prime Minister,

It is with great joy that I write to you again. How can I express my admiration for the man who has done so much for his monarchy and his country in such trying times?

One thing that I am able to tell you is that we can anticipate being able to send food supplies to your country. We are organizing a shipment of 350,000 kg of food to Hatrap. This will be arriving by cargo plane in 2 days. The food will consist of dried barley, dried beans, cans of vegetables, and cans of meat.

I have also been informed that a number of the peacekeepers who are virtually invading your country are associated with the Kalisight Treaty Organization. Although no resolution has been passed by this organization, and there has been no open agreement to be involved with Gyzantia, nevertheless, it is most unusual. I think that it would be a good idea if their intentions in this war were made crystal clear. From what rumours I have heard, they are bringing in some very heavy equipment for peacekeepers. If you like as allies, my government could pursue this matter on your government's behalf.

Another matter that is of concern: originally, we sent Royal Marines and fleet elements to your country to fight socialists. It appears, however, there there are rebels who have attacked Port Nithlu. Moreover, I understand that there is a great battle at Colstrea. There appear to be multiple fronts emerging in this war. I would like to ask if you need us to send more military aid to deal with this.

Finally, I hope that I might meet with members of your government directly in the near future to more strongly cement our relations.

Sincerely,

Princess Alavaine de Cressa,
Regent of Sombreland

I will try to contact an officer to guide your forces with theirs to the frontlines. Once again, I thank you for the support!."

7:15AM, Fenggong Military Port, Ambarino Province, Joyea

The first Joyean troops began the journey to Gyzantia. Involvement in this civil war was highly protested and permission to deploy troops just barely passed in Parliament, even just as peacekeepers. Many were worried it would turn out like the Joyean action in New Hallin. The Joyean people feared that another war in addition to the various actions in the Middle East would increase the conscription quotas and just add to the body count. But either way troops are being sent to attempt to assist locals and stop the fighting. Troops were loaded in droves onto there ships to begin the 8 day trip to Gyzantia. This of course is only under the assumption they don't get caught in a typhoon. The ships are being escorted to the conflict by various frigates, destroyers, and even one cruiser just in case though they will return home once our transports arrive.

Later that day an official communique was sent to the government of Anagonia:
To:Commander of the Anagonian Forces deployed to Gyzantia
From:Colonel General Deng Zhou, Commander of all Joyean Armed Forces Personnel deployed to Gyzantia
R.E.Aid & Assistance

Greetings,

I wish I could send this message under better circumstances but we would like to request an agreement between our two forces that we will not fire on one another and that we can work together to assist one another in the peacemaking, peacekeeping, humanitarian aid, and to better prevent friendly fire incidents between our forces. I look forward to your response and hope we can work hand in hand in ending this terrible conflict.

This is Commodore Crawford of the Confederate States Navy,

Thank you for your notification and request. Our Commander & Chief has ordered us here to provide humanitarian and medical aid. We are conducting these operations presently. We are under no such orders to conduct wartime or hostile engagements. We are also under orders to resist all retaliation against hostile aggression. I have permitted my forces self-defense, in extreme circumstances only. This does not mean they will fire without merit on other humanitarian forces.

Concerning your request, I will relay to my commanders on the ground that you want to cooperate and want to ensure no friendly fire incidents. I will ensure our forces cooperate as best as possible while we continue to conduct our humanitarian operations as ordered.

Sincerely,

Commodore Leanna Crawford rubbed her temples as she sat at her desk in her stateroom. The past few hours had been nonstop transmissions, communications, and essential paperwork assignments that needed filing and sorting. The commanders on the ground were sending back images of horrific civilian injuries, with no question that they were intentional. Sergeant Alexander Rico of Desert Fox Squad had even sent an extensive folder of images showing the injuries and having images of many of the epicenters of attack in Port Nithu after sending in a scout to get further images taken. Everything that had been acquired or pictured proved, without a shadow of a doubt, that civilians were being intentionally targeted with little or no regard for their safety or well being. All of this information had to be sent back home for analysis and for the higher ups to assess what they wanted to do. Meanwhile, this left the Commodore handling the paper trail and managing questions and answers with her higher-ups as they were sent down to clarify points.

It was infuriating.

To top it all off, some "Colonel General" Deng Zhou of a nation she barely even remembered hearing about had requested of her - of her - a ceasefire for hostilities that had never transpired. It was clear that Mr. Zhou's first language was not english, otherwise Leanna would be bashing her head into the table at the utter stupidity of the request. It was probably an innocent "lost in translation" message, but the message itself was conveyed and she had replied accordingly. All they wanted was to work with the humanitarian effort and not be shot. That was fine. Done, relayed, message sent, accepted.

She hoped that was all. She hoped Mr. Zhou's request was entirely innocent and only mistaken by translation software or something and not a hint at a possible aggressive action. For now, she placed trust in the fact that technology was prone to make mistakes and the message he had sent was probably one of them due to the translation.

She sighed, heavily, shoulders slumping as she lowered her head into open palms in near-distress.

The fleet was beginning to eat through supplies, far quicker than anyone could have anticipated. The absolute atrocities found in Port Nithu had taken up a considerable amount of time and resources for her fleets assets. The effort to gather all extensive casualties to the hospital ship alone was immense. They would likely need another fleet to come in - or at the very least a resupply run - before the week was out. If not, then they'd likely be recalled back and job done. But the job wasn't done. And from the way responses were coming in, Confederate Military Brass were not happy about hearing civilians were being utilized as game pieces in the civil war. There was to be a briefing with the President tomorrow, so it was expected then she would find out just how extensively committed the Anagonian side was in maintaining a presence in Gyzantia.

A soft knock to the bulkhead caught her attention as she looked up. It was her XO, Commander Trey Clemons. She sighed, uttering a word of thanks as Trey approached with two mugs of coffee. He handed her one then stepped off to the side to examine her stateroom, then examine her.

"You've been at this all day, Ma'am," Trey said, respectfully chiding. "You need your rest. I'll keep watch for a few hours. I got things here. Drink your coffee and get some rest."

The Commodore scoffed. In other Navies across the world, a subordinate saying such things was ground for a reprimand, at best. At worst, and typically, a court martial. In the Confederate Navy - and Military in general - it was encouraged that subordinate commanders or executive officers would assist their commanding officers to the best of their ability. This included ordering the commanding officer to rest when needed, as more often than not commanding officers were keen to forget such an essential part of their lifestyle. She relented with a nod, taking a long sip of her coffee before eyeing her laptop screen again. She caught the glare from her Commander, then rolled her eyes, closing it.

"Alright XO, you win," Leanna conceded. "You have the bridge and fleet. Wake me if necessary."

Commander Clemons gave an approving nod and smile. "Very well, Ma'am. As you order."

He then stopped to look at the slight mess of the stateroom, silently looking back to his CO with a questioning and concerned look.

"Yes, yes, Trey!" the Commodore huffed. "Fine, maybe send a yeoman to help. Then I'll rest. I promise."

Trey smiled. No words were needed as he exited the stateroom.

Operation Pyrite is still underway, as forces continue to hound technate infantry and garrisons near the airport, with Gonswanzan drone strikes aiding in possibly degrading morale. Indeed, it was more than just a mere war, but a war fought on multiple fronts. The Gonwanzan MoD hoped that perhaps the technate's forces would become more and more demoralized over time given the horrific injuries from the strike against Port Nithu by rebels, plus the staggering losses both to the socialists and the republic itself too.

In fact, aircraft flying over Colstrea soon begin to dispense pamphlets that show Gonswanza as a spider set to pounce upon a kneeling, praying soldier whose back was exposed, with a target branded upon it. The words "YOU ARE MORE VULNERABLE THAN YOU THINK" above and "SURRENDER OR DIE" below attempt to emphasize the message. There's nobody left to protect them, really.

Marajarbian peacekeepers would still remain close to their Anagonian counterparts, taking orders and assisting in helping the poor, wounded, and ill escape what some might call a brutal bloodbath of a chaotic war. Due to the extreme brutality of the conflict going as far as to seriously injure children, the Marajarbian Parliament has unanimously voted on sending an extra 6,000 Peacekeepers to assist in the major, ongoing humanitarian efforts. These peacekeepers would not arrive yet, as they had to prepare, and such large scale preparations could take at least 3 to 4 business days.

Getting its reports of overwhelming numbers of peacekeepers and the battle of Colestra lead to more equipment and manpower being sent to Gyzantia to reinforce and increase manpower in the theater. The first to arrive in the nation was the troops, OTC armored carriers, OFV infantry fighting vehicles and tanks such as the T-62 and M-84A tanks however vehicles such as the OSPA OAAD, and the OT-1A would be shipped by sea through the use of LST and land at either Republic control ports or land on the beaches.

While waiting for the other equipment arrive the newly arrived soldiers were either sent to take part in the battle of Colestra or to set up positions at the starting point of the destroyed bridge setting up emplacements such as machine gun nest and artillery batteries along the various emplacements they were a gun emplacements were set and equipped with either a 20mm HAC-38, 25mm, or a HC-25, or 40mm L/60 bofor guns which were installed with specialized scopes and sights to used harass and snipe technate forces on the other side of the destroyed bridge.

Speaking of snipers back at the front at the battle of Colestra Oceanian troops were selected and put into group of 3 and were given a 23mm AMR-39 anti-material rifle while a few selected soldiers were given the 15mm APR-35 rifle.

SIC:
In the skies over the technate, the Blackbirds arrive. High above and traveling beyond the speed of sound, employing plasma stealth, even keeping a low radar profile, these aircraft rip through the skies, gathering information and helping to paint targets ahead of the incoming bombers. GPS coordinates, verified and confirmed, as an encore to Port Nithu was en route to this area.

Satrenia and Ostrea were selected as the primary targets, with various locations marked off for destruction. The people below were unaware of the goings-on, radar would fail to save them... If it even was present.

Further south, racing over the sea, the five bombers of Reaper 1 would soon be joined by 5 more from Reaper 2, a follow-up group of 5 other bombers, launched in their wake and racing for the area. The job would be split between the two, though with 60 missiles each, they'd be levelling the cities, even sparing enough for the secondary target of Bradia.

With the assassination of Laura Ortiz fresh in mind, it's likely they will not hold back for the enemy.

Not that there would be any mercy spared, if Port Nithu was anything to go by.

IC:
Laura Ortiz delivers a message to the public, once again, cheering on the victories on the outskirts of Colstrea and the slow collapse of Technate forces... Though this was rattled off by her advisor, given she'd rather not appear live on TV from a hospital bed.

The end of the war is coming soon, my friends! In due time, the Technate shall give in and collapse, with a war on two fronts, and with men pushed up against the wall in Colstrea, unable to escape, as the noose tightens. The Republic shall succeed, but what is more uncertain are the socialists. Despite their advances, they still have a long war ahead unless the Technate finally realizes the truth and surrenders. Port Nithu, I'm afraid, is perhaps a lesson to be learned. The Socialists are helping to prove that the Technate is extremely vulnerable and incapable of protecting their own. Gonswanza will also be sending humanitarian forces into Colstrea, or at least on the outskirts, to assist the wounded and displaced, given drone strikes and airstrikes against hostile positions within the city that is still full of civilians. This also goes to show just how willing the Technate is to stand behind their denizens, using them as meatshields for the military. Look, with your own eyes!

There would be a slideshow of images from Colstrea, showing hospitals that were used as barracks, being bombarded by rocket fire from infantry in the city, along with a hostage, a pregnant woman, held by a Technate soldier who was firing at unseen infantry out of frame. Then it showed the children of Port Nithu, framed in a "Technate" propaganda panel which had posted- "BETTER THEM THAN US".

We hereby declare the Technate a terrorist state, a failed state, truly. One willing to throw children into the fray and destroy lives for the sake of drawing out a pointless war.
Praise our glorious leader Laura Ortiz!

Battle Flag of the Confederate States

TO: Jack Paddlis, Marshall of the Gyzantian Commune
FROM: Commodore Leanna Crawford; Commanding Officer, Naval Peacekeeping Force Mythica; Confederate States Navy; Confederate States of Anagonia
MESSAGE SENT: October 2nd 106 AUR @ 2150 Hours AST
ENCRYPTION: ENCRYPTED TRANSMISSION; DIRECT CONTACT ONLY
SUBJECT: Possible Intervention

This is Commodore Crawford of the Confederate States Navy,

I have received word from home that we are now upping our involvement in Gyzantia. As the first faction to not only welcome our forces, but assist us in our operations, the Confederate States has deemed the Socialist Republic of Gyzantia to be a prime example of a future trading partner. The rise in civilian casualties has alarmed my Marines on the ground and myself personally. I have secretly sent an intelligence with our humanitarian operations to Port Nithu and have found absolutely abhorrent evidence of intentional targeting on civilians. At this time, we do not suspect that any faction native to Gyzantia is responsible. There is a high suspicion that supporting third-parties are utilizing civilians as a way to usher in their objectives faster.

We will be sending in two SR-71 Blackbirds for surveillance. They will begin taking pictures of ground installations, troop and naval movements, and anything else relevant to continue to build our case for direct military involvement. Additionally, the Confederate Air Force is sending a B-1 Bomber, the Spirit of Arkansis, to distribute leaflets that will educate civilians on how best to prepare food, water, and seek shelter as well as extensive first aid information. We would like you to begin distributing this information as well, along with the request that if they should require aid to come to Acur.

I would like to request construction of an airfield near Acur. This airfield will serve as a staging point for potential bombers and other aircraft sent from home. We would additionally like your promises to work, house, and assist any ground forces we may send in the near future.

Sincerely,
Commodore Leanna Crawford
Commanding Officer, Naval Peacekeeping Force Mythica

Naval Peacekeeping Force Mythica
Patrolling in waters offshore Gyzantia

Word had come back from home as the Commodore had rested earlier in the morning. The President and his Chiefs of Staff were absolutely livid about the amount of civilian carnage involved in the war. They wanted more information, two weeks ago. The President had redirected Naval Task Force Exeter and Naval Peacekeeping Force Anagonia from around Janpia toward Gyzantia, following a brief allotment of time to refuel restock on supplies. On the plus side, Leanna would once again get to see Commodore Bogdan Rabinoff who led NPF Anagonia. It always seemed they inevitably came back together in some way or another. The downside was that an actual naval task force would also be coming, which meant that actual armed naval assets would be included. Since NPF Mythica had more humanitarian supplies than armaments, that meant that either the task force was carrying supplies for the LHD or NPF Mythica could be reassigned. Either way, Anagonian involvement was intensifying slowly.

Last night she had sent her required message to the Socialist Republic of Gyzantia, specifically Marshall Paddlis. That night two SR-71's had undertaken an extensive surveillance mission across all of Gyzantia, taking images with their updated and modern equipment. The analysts back home were still shifting through the data, but there was growing evidence being found of more direct attacks against civilian centers across the war-torn nation. Additionally, Anagonia now had extensive data on bases from foreign powers as well as military bases from the domestic factions currently duking it out. Earlier this morning a B-2 Spirit had come through distributing leaflets via drop canisters across the country. She was told each leaflet contained vital survival information and that they directed a civilians requirement for assistance towards the nearest Anagonian.

There was a slight pain to her stomach today, nothing to do with last nights tiredness. As she examined the bridge and the deck of the LHD as rotary craft came and went, she couldn't break the feeling that something else was going to happen that could potentially become a greater problem. She looked to her nearest Yeoman.

"Get me Sergeant Rico, Alexander, and his squad," she ordered.

Her gut had a feeling and she wanted a surveillance mission done.

SR-71A Blackbird; Callsign "Comets Trail"
In flight over Gyzantia; Undertaking Surveillance Operations

Major Diana Joyce was one of two SR-71 pilots assigned to take extensive photographs of Gyzantia this evening. Both her and her wingman had traveled far in a short amount of time, refueling once before assuming the proper altitude. The avionics and electronics in the SR-71 had all been modernized and her surveillance equipment was top of the line. She had preformed several loops across the skyline as the cameras were slowly taking pictures of automated points of interests. Most of the displays in front of her had been recently converted to LCD touchscreens, enabling her far more control and intuitive use of the aircrafts mechanisms than before. She had flown "Comets Trail" several missions before when it was all almost entirely analog and the difference with the LCD screens was a vast improvement.

Touching the control on one screen, she panned the secondary camera as a marker display pinpointed where the primary automated camera was looking. Down below she watched in real time as a force of soldiers gathered what could only be assumed as civilians or unarmed combatants up and began to shoot them, dropping the bodies into a mass grave. The automated system had automatically tagged this as a point of interest, and for good reason. It sickened the Major to watch, but her job required her full attention. Over the course of the night under radio silence she watched similar events unfold, including catching several groups of soldiers firing direct rounds into civilian centers and buildings. She even caught aircraft dropping munitions on civilian buildings, watching the damage in real time. The cameras were unable to make out what type of aircraft they were with how fast they were going, but it was clearly not a domestic Gyzantian design.

By early morning both her wingman and the Major had turned to depart the zone. They would be back likely tomorrow night, and the night after as more evidence was gathered to support a narrative building back in the halls of government. It wasn't her business what, but as far as she could tell, if it meant stopping the atrocities she had witnessed that was fine by her.

B-2 Spirit Stealth Bomber; Spirit of Arkansis
Deploying leaflet canisters above Gyzantia

Colonel Bennett and Captain Carroll steadied the stealth bomber as the bomb-bay doors opened and the canisters began to deploy. They had departed Anagonia yesterday morning and had just arrived in Gyzantia after an aerial refueling near Janpia. Their mission was entirely peaceful; delivering canisters filled with leaflets that contained vital survival information for civilians caught in a warzone. The leaflets included all types of information, practically pamphlets themselves with how many pages each contained. They each described various ways to clean and filter water as well as finding food sources. They described ways to scavenge for resources as well as build shelters. They additionally informed the reader to find the nearest Anagonian Marine for medical assistance, as it would be provided freely and without charge. They warned also to avoid population centers and evacuate major warzones as combatants were directly targeting civilians in the war.

If a civilian couldn't escape, the leaflets also described ways to fight back, hide, constructing makeshift weapons, as well as set traps.

They were carefully deploying their payload over a wide area at a high altitude, trying to mark every possible population center as they turned in half-circles across the Gyzantian landmass as the morning waned. Once the payload had been depleted and the last canister dropped, the B-2 tilted right and began back home.

Combined Force Fleets Anagonia and Glassford
En route to Gyzantia

Commodore Bogdan Rabinoff lowered his binoculars. The fleet around him was a combined naval force of assets from his own fleet as well as Naval Task Force Glassford. Earlier yesterday the Chief Admiral Evans had ordered both fleets to begin preparations for traveling to Gyzantia. No word on why other than "additional security". The fleets had begun sailing earlier in the morning and just now passed the first resupply point, which consisted of far more resupply vessels due to the size of the fleet. He expected a few days to get to the warzone and assist NPF Mythica. His task force, NPF Anagonia, had been well stocked with additional humanitarian supplies but also carried more munitions. The Commodore suspected a fight was possible in the near future.

Once they would reach Gyzantia the fleets would split and the commanders would assume command of their own individual fleets. For now, as ranking naval officer, he commanded both. The next stop was Janpia, a port of call for refueling, then onward to a final resupply point before Gyzantia waters.

He hoped the transit would go smoothly. Overhead, he caught sight of a black blob in the air. Raising his binoculars, he realized it looked similar to a B-2. It was flying back towards Anagonia. Noticing similar markings on one wing that signaled a possible Anagonian asset, he lowered his binoculars, becoming increasingly concerned.

CH-53E Foxtrot Foxtort - Landing in Port Nithu
Sergeant Alexander Rico; Desert Fox Squad

Word had come down from the First Sergeant that Rico and his squad had made a name for themselves. Having a name in the Marines meant only two things and both were equally bad. Either you lost someone or you were so good you got a promotion. It was clear that Desert Fox squad got a promotion. The same CH-53E they had during earlier missions ferried them to Port Nithu once again. This operation had them as Marine Specialists, to ask around and obtain information concern the directed civilian attacks. Command apparently needed all sides of the story and they needed it yesterday. The Commodore had requested Alexander and his squad do the leg work to gather that intel. First Sergeant decided to start back in Port Nithu. The Super Stallion banked and came to a halt as it landed in an open clearing, civilians already nearby. Popping the door, Sergeant Rico was the first out as the rest of his eight man squad followed.

He came up to the first nice-looking civvie he could tell, patting their shoulder respectfully.

"Gather your people to the helicopter, we got supplies. Before that though, can you direct me to where your town leadership is?" he asked.

Nothern Colstrea

"Boys," shouted the lieutenant, "make yourselves at home! You've earned it..."

The fleet's men slowly poured out of the warships - exiting in-line...most of whom were carrying a plethora of items - be it their service rifles, or dark-coloured haversacks - and all of whom adorned caps - small cockades in the Armenian national colours fixed to their fronts. Indeed - Twas indeed a very...formal arrival, but Twas nothing out of the ordinary for the Armenians' servicemen. Formality always was the true way to present themselves, after all...besides - how else would others know that, truly, the Armenian state was one of sophistication? One of great honour and authority? Nevertheless, at the end of the day, they were all humans...and as such - indulged in many a drink as they settled down.

The captain - Hakobjanian - had remained inside the Vagharshapat...pondering many a great question. Why were they here? What business did Armenia have in a faraway, relatively indistinguishable country? Indeed, none of these were bad questions...but they weren't exactly those to be discussed amongst many a person...as Twas better kept to himself. This time, he couldn't confine himself to the bottle - for Twas empty...nor could he look to his fellow officers - for they were outside. As the old saying went, Twas he whom had the 'conn' - and Twas he who, in actuality, had no idea how to conduct such a...confusing war.

Twas of no surprise when the lieutenant entered the captain's quarters - paper in hand.

"Aren't you going to join us, sir?", he asked, "We've got plenty of booze."

"No," grumbled Hakobjanian, "I...I don't think I should."

Saroyan sat beside the aging officer...a look of concern in his eyes. He'd served under Hakobjanian for many a month...and it wasn't like the otherwise well-spirited captain to seem perpetually down. Indeed - he knew that something was pestering the old man...and he was destined to figure what it was.

"With all due respect, sir...you've been acting a bit off late-"

"Oh, cut it with the sympathetic bullshit Saroyan," the captain barked, "I've...I've just got my doubts, is all."

"About what, sir?" - the lieutenant whispered...

"You can feel it too, can't you?" Hakobjanian sighed - eying the small document in Saroyan's hand. "Death draws ever-closer...and we're at the forefront."

"Sir...I-"

"What's that you got in your hand?," he interjected...pointing at said document.

"The Surb Gregor got a call from command a few hours back...here's the transcript."

And so...the transcript was set upon the captain's desk, its cover reading "KHIST GAGHTNI" - "HIGHLY CONFIDENTIAL" - and its sleek folder almost glistening in the dim light. Indeed, Twas rather light - only a few pages or so...but that didn't make it any less important. No - for this was an order directly from Constantinople - navy's base of operations. Whatever it detailed was certainly of great value...and indeed it was.

Captain Iskenderian,

The Admiralty wishes to notify you of a...change of plans. Per the decree of His Imperial Majesty, any and all ships belonging to the Second Expeditionary Fleet are to - at once - meet with the Gonswanzan force...and aid them in their advances.

Do NOT carry out the initial assignment...

"Oh, those sneaky fucks," whispered Hakobjanian - a look of scorn in his eyes. "We were sent here for one fucking job...and now we're gonna babysit the Gonswanzans?"

"Sir - I think it's imperative that we go along with the new plans. I cou-"

"If they wanted us to follow the order - they would've given me the message, lieutenant," interjected Hakobjanian, "not Iskenderian."

"I beg to disagree sir...Perhaps they did-"

"Lieutenant...", sighed the captain as he arose from his recliner...a look no longer filled with scorn - but with fear - in his eyes. "We're fucked if we do listen, and we're fucked if we don't."

"So...what should I tell the boys?," Saroyan asked.

"We're moving out...today. Tell them to pack up their things - and get back onboard."

"Aye, sir...aye."

And so...there went Saroyan with the news - of which was met with great melancholy...for the men had just barely gotten to relax. Nonetheless...as was typical, they did as they were told - promptly manning their stations with great haste...and without as much as a single word. Twas time, once more, to set off...and this time - Twas time, once and for all, to prove the capability of the second fleet - long overlooked by the Admiralty and long-since forgotten by most. Perhaps - just perhaps - they'd get to bask in glory and laurels when the time came.

And so - let slip the fleet...and let slip the dreams of many.

This is Commodore Crawford of the Confederate States Navy,

Around 2230 Hours on October 2nd, two Confederate Air Force SR-71 Blackbirds were conducting routine surveillance operations over Gyzantia. The images I am forwarding you show explicitly your J-105 aircraft attacking civilian targets. We are not privy to the operations and there is always a possibility you were targeting buildings that did not house civilians, however the method and manner of the attack suggests similarities with other attacks we've investigated during our humanitarian operations. As commander of the Anagonian forces in the Guzantian Theater of Operations and representative thereof, I formally request you to cease any and all attacks against civilian populated targets that have the potential to house civilians or are at high risk of civilian habitation.

Sincerely,
Commodore Leanna Crawford

My sincere apologies, but we are attempting to REDUCE if not overall AVOID civilian casualties. Gonswanzan drones confirm the enemy is attempting to use civilians as meatshields, even setting up shop in hospitals and churches, while also threatening to use meatshields given a civilian presence within the area. Unguided bombs are being used given costs and the sudden, rapid deployment of forces without added equipment, hence, we are relying on "dumb" unguided ordinance. If it just so happens to stray from the target, the most anyone can do is hope that those who died did so quickly. We are not intentionally targeting civilians. But it would be of aid to us if you could at least attempt to assist in pulling them out, before the army decides to take an all-or-nothing approach to flatten the city with forces already inside working slowly to liberate it.
Praise our glorious leader Laura Ortiz!
