I know how radiation poisoning works, I've done a bunch of research on it, the name of the method was just random, no correlation into how it actually works, however, if administered lethally, can cause death in mere minutes

I was curious about this, and from a standpoint of pure radiation dosage it would take ~1,000 Gy (~10x the hourly dosage from the Elephant's Foot at time of discovery) to knock someone out and kill them in an hour. But theoretically you could kill quicker and with a smaller dosage (~1,000 to 5,000 rems) if you target the heart and its surrounding blood vessels and cause cardiac arrest.

It still wouldn't be a great non-lethal torture method, though. Radiation tends to be less...immediately painful than other choices. Plus you might as well skip all the next-to-impossible decontamination and use the material as reactor fuel and just use good ol' electricity for all your torture/execution needs. No need to reinvent the wheel.

Do you remember Chernobyl and that one engineer who's face had, I shit you not, literally melted off? Their skin melted off, they couldn't talk at all, and then when they could, the rest of their skin soon melted with it. Now, mind you, they got blasted with well over 100,000 Gy's and also looked directly at the core when it "blew up". It was every kind of radiation you can think of, from neutrons to iodine, but if I'm not incorrect here, I do believe it said that iodine made up the majority, and caused thyroid cancer.

radiation the best it will do is turn the red like a sunburn and make blisters appear. I'm curious about the source you got your info from that says radiation can melt someone's skin off? however, can't say the same for those who were near the explosion but again I watched a video that showed the effect of radiation on those peeps and I don't see any melted skin just people who got badly burnt

I think that was more from the heat and shockwave caused from the bomb than the actual radiation

It takes days to get to the stage of necrosis ("fleshing melting off people's bodies"), and even then by the time you get them there they'd be rapidly approaching a guaranteed death. Radiation is a sneaky killer. You feel fine, maybe a little ill for a couple of days, then everything escalates rather quickly and you die. Doesn't leave a lot of time to extract information, doesn't have any middle ground for non-lethal torture, and again cleanup/decontamination from the required dosage almost certainly wouldn't justify it over more conventional methods. Also "they couldn't talk" probably hinders interrogation, no?

I ain't saying you can't use it, just that it might realistically not be as good as you're imagining it to be for the job you want it to do.

(Also it's "ionizing" radiation. Iodine is something you can take that actually helps protect against radiation poisoning, ironically. Also Aleksandr Akimov was exposed to ~15 Gy at Chernobyl, not 100,000 Gy. The only deaths that happened that day within 24 hours were due to the explosion itself and debris. From what I can gather no human is recorded as ever having been exposed to 100,000 Gy. The only reason we have this number is through animal testing.)

EDIT: Of course, IC I can see a government definitely trying to experiment with this. Especially if the government wants to find a "recycling" use for its weapon-grade nuclear material. I just don't think their project is going to be very successful by the end of trials.

I just don't see the need to experiment with an 'innovative' method of execution when human history has given us so many ways to kill our fellow man, from the absolutely heinous to almost entirely painless.

Also there are many actually useful things to do with your atomic waste.
