The Bashriyyan Embassy, somewhere in the outskirts of Rostov City, National People's Republic of Rostovia

If one happened to wander out of the centre of Rostov City, not that there would have any reason to, seeing as foreigners were almost exclusively banned from the city let alone the country, they might eventually find your way to the embassy complexes built before the rise of Osip Lukhov. Most of the crumbling concrete structures were empty these days, what with Rostovia being diplomatically isolated from the rest of the world over a few misunderstandings like genocide, arms trafficking, and saying rude things about other countries. Nevertheless, a scarce handful of nations had doggedly retained their diplomatic missions in this most dismal of capital cities. Among these was the Bashriyyan Arab Islamic Republic.

On this particular morning, just before the sun began to brighten the drab concrete that composed literally everything in Rostov City except for the bits that the Vozhd had to see, the silence was broken by the sound of engines in the pre-dawn air. If the Bashriyyan ambassador had deigned to disturb his slumber and look out his window, assuming his august personage did not deem such a trivial matter beneath his notice, he might have noticed tanks and other vehicles rolling through the streets near his residence and place of work. To be fair, this was not an unusual sight as most Rostovians lacked vehicles and traffic thus tended to consist primarily of government and military convoys. Assuming the stately Bashriyyan diplomat ignored these goings-on and rolled over to get back to sleep, he might find himself disturbed by yet more engine noises and, glancing out the window once again, he might have noticed the uniformed troops pouring out of the backs of the lorries that were now positioned near the front gates. In the rather unlikely event that our drowsy Arabian fellow was disinclined to pursue these events with much interest, he would have found his rest severely disturbed by the whupwhupwhup of helicopter blades in the early morning sky.

Regardless of how determined our Bashriyyan ambassadorial friend might have been to just get back to sleep, he would most certainly have been woken up when his front door was kicked in, by which it should be inferred that the Rostovian military drove a tank through the front gates of the embassy complex.

While the Bashriyyan gate guards were still struggling to recover from the shock of the great steel behemoth ploughing through the gates, they were summarily dispatched by the men of the 1st Special Republican Guards Mechanised Regiment Osip Lukhov, who stormed into the building shooting up anyone who looked anything but white. (Yes, it will be acknowledged that Rostovians are profoundly racist) At the same time as the ground floor was being subjected to a shock assault, the numerous helicopter gunships that had arrived along with the small army of troops that someone had deemed necessary to eliminate a single embassy began to pump round after round of autocannon-fire into the upper levels of the embassy building, riddling the concrete with holes. That this move was poorly thought-out became clear when it subsequently caused the deaths of several hundred Rostovian infantrymen when the upper storey collapsed on top of them. Not to be deterred, the men of the 1st Special Republican Guards Mechanised Regiment Osip Lukhov proceeded to saturate the ruins of the embassy complex with various debilitating compounds, including, but not limited to, sarin, mustard gas, chlorine, and copious quantities of a nasty smoke/irritant gas agent that the Rostovians favoured using. Anyone who wasn't killed in agonising fashion was driven choking onto the bayonets of the Rostovian troops who gleefully hacked them down. When the dead and dying Bashriyyans stopped coming out of the woodwork, teams of suit-and-mask-clad Rostovians descended into the bowels of the embassy complex, just to make sure nobody had managed to survive.

Satisfied that their violation of international law was complete, the 1st Special Republican Guards Mechanised Regiment Osip Lukhov departed the scene. They were replaced by a coterie of bulldozers and other assorted construction vehicles who proceeded to demolish what remained of the unfortunate Bashriyyan embassy. New concrete was swiftly poured, walls were re-erected, and the building was swiftly replaced by one that was virtually identical, albeit without any of the cracks that had plagued the original structure (those would appear in time), and with a nasty lingering smell if one happened to spend too long in the basement. By the time the sun rose over the Rostovian capital, the paint was already starting to dry on the former Bashriyyan embassy. A diplomatic cable was subsequently sent to the Empire of Greater Nifon:

To: The Empire of Greater Nifon
Subject: Proposal of diplomatic mission

To the representatives of the Empire of Greater Nifon,

In recognition of the growing ties between our two nations, His Excellency Supreme Leader Osip Lukhov, Vozhd of the Rostovian People, Grand High Marshal of the Rostovian Armed Forces, Heir to the Tsar's Throne, Great Conductor of Human Happiness, Shining Beacon of Enlightenment, Champion of the Rostovian Faith, Honorary Doctor of Sciences at Rostov City University, Master Guide of the Revolution, Teacher of the Revolutionary Method, Grand Architect of the People's Happiness, Supreme Father of the Rostovian People, Grand Chairman-General Secretariat of the Mladorostovian Party, Vanguard of the Lukhovist National Front, Lord-Governor of Mirsk, Vanquisher of the Red Menace and Ally to the People of Nifon wishes to extend the hand of friendship and allow your august nation to establish a permanent diplomatic mission to his glorious nation.

A suitable ambassadorial complex has been refurbished and is ready to be placed at your disposal. Our Vozhd awaits your speedy reply.

Slava Lukhovu!

Outskirts of Tripoli, Bashriyya

The Bashriyyan capital was looking a whole lot different to how the Rostovian forces of Lieutenant General Viktor Raskov had envisioned it.

For starters, the skyline had changed a lot, and not just because of all the bombings. Rostovian intelligence hadn't bothered to update their photographs and this had been reflected in the shambolic briefing the men had received, what with the briefings claiming Sadr al-Nasheed's father was still in charge and all that. The bombings had only made things worse: the only reason the Rostovian troops knew they had reached Tripoli was because they had passed a sign with Welcome to Tripoli painted on it in large peeling letters.

As Raskov's armoured column approached, two of the three Guards Air Assault Regiments, who were crammed into two-thirds of the vehicles they were supposed to be travelling in, along with the Guards Artillery and Air Defence Missile Regiments, peeled off from the rest of the column and spread out into the outskirts of Tripoli. The remaining Guards Air Assault Regiment continued straight along the main highway with the remains of the 477th Imperial Regiment of Rifles and entered Tripoli itself. The first signs of Bashriyyan military presence that they encountered consisted of a number of Bashriyyan soldiers in full uniform who were mopping up the remains of what appeared to be a scratch unit of irregular fighters. The commander of the Bashriyyan soldiers turned and stepped out to welcome the Rostovian forces, whereupon he was immediately creamed by the lead BMD which ploughed straight into his unit. The survivors were quickly buried under a small mound of Rostovian infantrymen who were thrown from the top of the vehicle when it suddenly came to a stop, the surprised troopers grappling with the equally confused Bashriyyans who were quickly overwhelmed by force of numbers. The remnants of the irregulars cheered, only to dive for cover as several hundred rounds of ammunition were fired at them.

Raskov pushed open the hatch of his BMD and looked out at the knot of tangled men in front of him. Around him, the roar of engines sounded as Rostovian forces rolled into the city. From the outskirts came the distant boom of artillery as Rostovian self-propelled guns and rocket artillery opened fire, pounding the already-beleaguered capital with high explosives. Buildings crumbled and massive smoke clouds loomed as Rostovian forces deployed their preferred irritant/smoke agent in copious quantities. Each line of Rostovian advance was clearly demarcated by the enormous grey plumes that engulfed their route. The Lieutenant General laughed victoriously. It was shaping up to be a good day.

Rostovian infantry companies advanced street by street, collapsing into looting mobs at the absence of any obvious signs of resistance. Whole units broke apart to pilfer anything of value from Bashriyyan homes, retreating through alleyways and houses until they found friendly forces to link up with. In many lines of attack, the force making the assault bore little resemblance to the one that had initially begun it. The Bashriyyans were softened up by artillery shelling before waves of Rostovians charged their positions under cover of debilitating gas, slaughtering Bashriyyan resistance as those men who tried to stand up to their offensive struggled to see through tear-laden eyes and whose skin itched at every point it was exposed to the open air. Dead and dying Rostovians mingled with Tripoli's fallen, a testament to the struggle of the Bashriyyan defenders. It would have been better for them had they not been fighting each other at the same time. As their weapons jammed from use, for they were made very badly, the men of Lukhov's army tossed aside their rifles and picked up the weapons wielded by the fallen enemy. Unfortunately for some, the Bashriyyans who had tried futilely to resist them had been armed with Rostovian-made guns and the cycle repeated itself.

As they advanced, Rostovian infantrymen took the opportunity to have their way with the womenfolk of their enemy. Incidents of rape abounded as the invaders forced themselves upon Tripoli's women. No punishments were forthcoming for their actions, for the Rostovian commissars were too busy constructing entrenched positions along the projected paths of retreat in the event that their regular counterparts decided to flee the battlefield, not that this was likely as the prospects of plunder and deflowering Bashriyyan maidens were proving too attractive to resist. Those fortunate enough were bayoneted after their violation: the unlucky found their next abuser waiting impatiently behind the first.

As the day wore on, the bodies mounted. Dead Bashriyyan men, women and children lay where they had fallen. Rostovian dead, too, were among those whose corpses attracted great swarms of flies. In some areas, the dead of Tripoli were pressed up against the doors of their cellars, where the Rostovians had herded them before throwing in their smoke canisters to drive all the air from the underground rooms. The advance began to slow as Bashriyyan resistance hardened and the sudden shock of the Rostovian betrayal began to lessen. With the number of Bashriyyan bullets increasing on their attacks, the Rostovians hit upon the violent solution of forcing their enemy's kin to advance at bayonet-point into the hail of defenders' fire. The civilians of Bashriyya fell in droves.

As the slaughter continued, and furious at the slow progress, Lieutenant General Raskov moved himself and his command staff to a ruined apartment block in the centre of Rostovian-held Tripoli.

Rostovian-held Tripoli, right at the coast

The Rostovians were in for a rude awakening from the Bashriyyan navy whose missile boats began to lob missiles at the Rostovian held areas with the goal of levelling the area of any Rostovians, the navy had been virtually unharmed by the coalition forces, primarily because of the anti-Nasheed stance they had taken and their secret contacts encouraging them to take part in a military coup against Sadr, they had also not been used during the entire war against Sugogo due to Sugogo being land-locked.

Akbar class missile boats began to fire 57mm cannons on the Rostovians practically annihilating any Rostovian unfortunate enough to be hit by them, raining down heavy fire-power upon them, and pounding them. Upon being hit with support guns by the Navy, Bashriyyan troops and Fedayeen would begin to utilize AT3 SAGGER anti-tank rockets and TOW missiles against Rostovians taking cover-behind the buildings. The Bashriyyan troops would go on the defensive, setting up barricades and positions in various buildings. And sniping the Rostovians with sniper rifles and heavy machine guns. Nibal's forces soon arrived backed by members of the Property and Islam society a right-wing opposition movement opposed to the Socialist Arab Party.

For them the Rostovians were more then just traitors to the Bashriyyan people, they were the rotten fruit of Sadr's regime. Sadr a man desperate for allies burned all bridges and then invited a trojan horse, for them they were not fighting for Sadr or defending his failing regime. They were defending Tripoli and Bashriyya their homeland from barbarians and drug addicts. Rostovians may have seize some ground due to surprise, But soon their effectiveness will wear out. The Property and Islam fighters were prepared to carry on a defensive fight against the Rostovians, until they tired out. They had the home advantage and the superior equipment to the Rostovians.

Inyurstan Staging Ground, Tifya

A stagnant, oppressive air hung over the staging ground. The distorted waves of heat radiating from the dry, desert earth cast illusions of glistening water in the distance; while all but a few dancing lizards had retreated to their subterranean burrows. The hour was far from mid-day, the peak heat, but it was already a cruel temperature outside. A single band of clouds rode in the distance, teasing relief in the later hours.
The sound of approaching helicopters broke the dull of the desert base, upturning dust and sending loose, dead vegetation tumbling across the parched ground as they descended from the sky.

Májor General Castéllyano stepped off the helicopter to a gathering of Inyurstan soldiers. He was dressed in his military Class-C fatigues, and the fact he was an Aeroforca commander no doubt stood out amongst the Armiéa forces he was addressing - very possibly the first of such in his place.

"Bona manjane, mis compatreos." He started his speech, wishing that with rank would come public speaking skills.
"You may have heard competing things about why we are here, you may have heard competing things about what we are doing. Some say we are here to play kingmakers in Sugogo, some say we are here to raise the price of oil, some say we are here for revenge.

But in reality, this is about fear.
It is the fear of our people that the slaughter inflicted by the likes of Bashriyya will go unpunished - and thus rewarded by the lack of punishment. Government may operate for its own interests, but it is still sourced by the hearts, minds, and ultimately ballots of those tens of millions of men and women who never want to awake and read a headline like that, who never want another to suffer at the hands of our enemy.
Bashriyya commits their heinous acts because they want to spread fear. They wish to terrorize Sugogo with rape and genocide, they wish to terrorize Tifya with WMDs, and they have sought to terrorize our people with bloodthirsty and sadistic attacks.
Well, they have succeeded.
It is because of the fear in the hearts of the Inyurstan people, fear in the hearts of Sugogoan defenders, and fear in the hearts of Tifyan strategists that we are here.

So now that they have brought forth their terror, their goal to inflict fear it is our turn.
Remember, we are the feared Militaire d'Inyursta, we are the unrelenting attack dog of SACTO, we are the viper that brought down the Lollohian stallion, the southern ghosts that not even the overrated Ausitorian empire dare to invoke. So let us show these Bashriyyan bloodletters why it is WE who they should fear, let us teach their inbred and nepotistic commanders WHY we have earned this reputation.
We aren't feared because we win wars where we outnumber the enemy, rather we are feared because we can cleave victory when the enemy outnumbers us. This is no different.
Ignore all tales of Bashriyyan genocide and Bashriyyan rape. Your enemy is human, too; and like any human being their hearts will fill with fear when you break their illusion of security, when you smash their illusion of control and bring them face to face with their own human weakness. Cut them down with your skill, your aim, your professionalism, your instinct, and your good old fashioned Inyurstan pride!
So go forth, mi compatreos! Strike fear into their hearts, and show them the terror of La Republiqua D'Inyursta!!!"
He issued a commander's salute, bowing as he tipped his cover to the crowd - a commander's salute being a rare display of humility where the highest ranking officer salutes his or her subordinates.
"VIVA INYURSTA! VIVA INYURSTA!! VIVA INYURSTA!!!" The gathering of junior officers and NCO's rallied as Castéllyano dismissed them.

He was in a similar position to Antonio DeLoroza himself; however, unlike his predecessor and current superior he did not have the luxury of being killed or captured with his men should the operation go sideways. No, Louis Castéllyano would have to watch the progress from the shameful prison of a hidden bunker.
Made worse yet, is that unlike the once-though-terrifying hordes of Lollohian 4th Gen armor supported by supermaneuverable, low-observable aircraft; the Bashriyyan menace was far from underestimated. In fact, to add yet another degree of strangeness to this war - it was one of the few the Inyurstan brass was confident that they would win. While this would seem a simple non-issue, it made the job of Louis Castéllyano even harder. All that "Old Ironsides" DeLoroza had to do was deliver victory on a silver platter - but what he had to do was deliver not only victory, but victory with the absolute minimum loss of Inyurstan and Sugogoan lives for the smallest price tag and the shortest time doing so.

But now, the stage was set.
Inyurstan intervention would soon no longer be limited to air cover, advisors and weapons deliveries; but soon "boots on the ground" would be entering the fight, the first direct engagement between the Inyurstan and Bashriyyan militaries since 2018 - and the first time the Inyurstans would be on the offensive...

Port Facilities, Sego

At long last, the Inyurstan sealift force had landed in Sego. Though, the journey to combat was far from over, it was still a road mark and relief, of sorts. Now came the task of unloading and mobilizing the troops and equipment, transporting them across Sego and into Sugogo to begin operations.

Priority for in-theater mobilization was heliborne units, as they were likely the first to be put into action.

Sugogo, Eastern Front

With the Bashriyyan armored brigade pinned and nearly encircled from three sides (not fully encircled as to leave a route of escape for slower, "softer" units), the Sugogoan Army began to press the attack and cut into the flank of the locally-outnumbered Bashriyyan brigade. Using the high-ground of the hills above the battlefield, the Sugogoan gunners continued firing 105mm guns against the Bashriyyan frontline, using data from drones and forward units to "walk in" their fire against key enemy positions resisting the assault. Meanwhile, Sugogoan tanks, ATGM crews and mortar teams continued upping the pressure on the armored Bashriyyan forward units. This forward pressure would allow the lighter Sugogoan infantry units to cut through and make serious dents in the soft Bashriyyan flanks.

The attack was going successfully, and with all three Bashriyyan brigades either pinned or inactive, this allowed the establishment of a shore-edge corridor for which Al-Behaira could be evacuated.
On paper, the Sugogoan gains were minimal; but in terms of shape and positioning they might as well have been much larger. They were now shaping the battlefield for the final counter-offensive in the east, and with their initial moves completely unopposed, the Bashriyyan tank brigade they were laying into would likely collapse within hours and allow the Sugogoan defeat-in-detail to continue.

Sugogo, Central Front

Now the Bashriyyans had advanced into the city limits of Abujago, and the fighting was becoming more intense than ever. Machine gun fire was almost constant, every street becoming a veritable wind tunnel of bullets for the Bashriyyans attempting to fight in urban combat. Any reprieve the Bashriyyans would find themselves in, the Sugogoans would walk in mortar fire to ensure that no position was safe.
At this point in the game, the Sugogoan Army had no reason to consider a retreat from Abujago. With a single-sided offensive lacking proper reconnaissance and even probing attacks, the Bashriyyans had not sent their best and their tactics were less than optimal; whereas the strategic position of Abujago as the "roadblock" to the capital was worth much more to the defenders.

However, just to the north the Bashriyyans were beginning to push through and create gaps in the defense due to the infeasibility of defending the open ground. That being said, such Bashriyyan frontline units were still under intense and relentless 2-way fire from the "strong points" of the villages along the highway and railway.

Now, with the remnants of the Bashriyyan mechanized infantry division in a state of disorder and broken communications and logistics, the "Lords of the Wind" militia were poised to strike. Commander Akenyemi would lead the first light, high-mobility attack by the militia. Driving south from southern Tifya, they would ride under the cover of darkness. Just before dawn, the motor-borne insurgents would set upon the "soft" units of the Bashriyyan invasion - troop trucks, ammo trucks, other logistical vehicles and sleeping soldiers themselves (all identified via Inyurstan drones, of course).

Meanwhile at AIRBASE NAME HERE the last mission failure for the attack on Bashriyya's pumping facilities was being assessed. Flight commanders, along with Inyurstan and Palmyri advisors had come to the conclusion that the previous attack pilots angle was too low, thus causing missed rockets to fly over head of the target rather than impact directly next to the target. They were already prepping their gets for a second attempt to destroy Bashriyya's water stealing facilities - a second strike on the lifeblood that provided water to the Bashrabic colonial entity currently invading their nation. By flying higher and come down at a deeper angle this time, they would ensure that the enemy's pumping facilities would not only present a larger, easier target to hit, but also that any missed rockets would still land within "splash damage" (no pun intended) radius of their targets.

Sugogo, N'Djima

Crates of 5.7x44mm SACTO rounds were flooding into the capital, as were the lightweight and easy to fire MASAM-82K submachine guns, the venerable yet modern AKY-3M assault rifle, and of course the infamous and globally dominant Arakawa assault rifle. The advantage being that all 3 guns used the same ammunition, the very same ammunition the Sugogoans were stockpiling in N'Djima should the Battle of Abujago go south (literally).
A fast-paced training and mobilization held the Sugogoan Reserve Army in limbo, too much training and it would be almost useless as the war may be over - one way or another - too little training and Sugogo risked sending farmers with bad aim and tactical cluelessness into a meat grinder against the invading Arab hordes. So too did the effort to distribute the weaponry to both the gathering reserves and the frontline forces currently holding the Bashriyyans at bay - send too much to the frontlines, and the reserves end up under-armed; leave too much to the reserves and the frontlines end up suffering.

Supreme Chief General Obiefune stood at a table in a make-shift command room. One of many buildings in N'Djima built with dollars from foreign investment that had coincidentally disappeared and now found itself in a perpetual state of construction, always needing just a little more offshore funds to be finished (yet never actually being finished).
The idea that Sugogo was any less corrupt than Bashriyya was a myth that not even the coalition dared dream up. In reality Sugogo was rife with its own corruption and power politics. Having slid the President to the side the Supreme Chief General was now facing threats to his consolidation from inside this very room; for one the general of the reserve army Marcus Yagimande was determined and believed himself destined to be the one who led the counter offensive in crushing Bashriyya's invasion. Additionally, General Ibrahim Ndagire of Southern command was himself the half brother of the currently injured president. Where Sugogo deferred from Bashriyya is that all men regardless of their own ambitions for power were united in their goal to defeat the plague and scourge that was Bashriyya - the big question and its subsequent contention is who would be viewed as leading the army when that defeat came...

Obiefune, ever the optimist, was convinced that Abujago could be held indefinitely and the Bashriyyans ultimately defeated then and there. His optimism was genuine, but he also stood to gain the most if a crushing defeat was dealt at Abujago and stood to lose the most should the city fall. In contrast, General Yagimande believed that victory at Abujago was possible but that they should play it safe and instead prepare for a final showdown at the gates of the capital, wherein following such the reserve army would ultimately sweep through overrun the Bashriyyan positions and go on the counter offensive (with himself leading it, of course). And last but not least, with his own plans and his own personal plots for power General Ndagire countered that they should instead draw the Bashrabic invaders deeper into the country and prepare for a long war in the hot, humid southern regions of the country. He too held genuine concerns as he was the few who believed that a Bashriyyan mobilization and ultimately "third wave" was not only likely, but inevitable. In this context an early defeat of the Bashriyyan Army in the north merely open them for the kind of open field engagement the enemy desired.

"Enough bickering! My command is decided." Obiefune asserted. "I will take the Republican Guard and I will move north to Abujago. The flank must be protected."
"Very well then I have faith the Republican Guard will do wonders to hold the line." General Yagimande added; in reality the move made him happy as it removed a bunch of Obiefune loyalists from the capital - giving his own reserve army a limited form of free reign. Obiefune's move was bolt but at least it was his own personal bodyguard brigade he was taking into the fight with him...

Sugogo, Central Front

In response to the bombing of the water facilities, Bashriyyans fired up all remaining ballistic missiles against both Sugogan pumping facilities in both major cities. The Bashriyyan forces also executed 45 pregnant Sugogan women in retaliation who were housed in hospitals lining them up against walls and machine gunning them under orders from the Grand Mufti who declared a Fatwa claiming it was permissible for the Mujahedeen to kill pregnant women to deny the enemy future recruits this fatwa was to be followed only if the pump facilities were destroyed. Bashriyyans were now being ordered on the Central front to begin executing any and all Sugogan civilian hostages, a true holocaust of large proportions took place as the Bashriyyan army itself now officially was taking part in open war crimes. As Sugogan civilians were gunned down enmasse. Bashriyyan troops in Central Sugogo bunkered down for hard urban fighting. MG3 machine guns would light up the night against the Sugogan forces in the area. Artillery was then fired on Sugogan positions, heavy pounding restarted by Bashriyyan artillery.

Colonel Nibal

News of the Islamic revolution in Isfahan by Moslem fundamentalists against the Ghulat government inspired the Grand Mufti and Colonel Nibal to finally go through with their plans. Sadr sensing a coup left the country with his family, he snuck through Quirida, through a few other countries and then into Haramun. Colonel Nibal, with support of the Mufti and members of the Sunni establishment demanded the Ghulat Nasheed family be deposed from power and that a truly Islamic form of Government be put in place. Colonel Nibal then announced himself as President of a new Islamist government praising the Jihad in Isfahan and the Muslim brothers over there. Nibal alongside members of the Free Market technocrats associated with Property and Islam Society were now vowing to open the economy up and end Socialist policies of Sadr Government.

Bashriyya withdraws from Sugogo, limits it's army to 50 000 in total; will not be allowed to possess missiles with range more than 100 kilometers and anti air systems with the same reach; it must also pay war reparations to Sugogo (Nifonese banks offer loans here), we will also turn over all wanted criminals responsible for ordering war-crimes and terrorism to the Inyurstans, all Rostovian officers will be handed over to the International criminal courts, alongside the leadership of the World Revolutionary Organization, we also are willing to exchange all Sugogan prisoners for our men.

OPERATION SILVER SANDSTORM

Sugogo, Afruika | MGEN Michelangelo de Armas | Repel the Bashoid Horde

Abujago, Sugogo
Robert Slump - Flash Point

As Bashriyyan armored columns blitzed all the way into the city centers and past the trench networks just outside the city proper, the Palmyrians mounted an ordered fighting retreat from the trenches and into the city blocks. Bashriyyan armor and infantry would immediately face explosive justice from the king of battle as they rolled into areas pre-sighted for mortar and artillery fire, giving time for the Palmyrians in the trenches just outside the city perimeter to conduct an orderly retreat, disassembling equipment and lugging it along with them as they ran for the city proper. With SEAD keeping Bashriyyan air defence suppressed and fighter escorts destroying Bashriyyan air support assets, Palmyrian helicopter gunships and CAS fighters enjoyed open season hunting against Bashriyyan armored columns rushing in to the city.

Once in the city, the Bashriyyans would find themselves unfortunately well-placed in interlocking fields of fire from firing posts all across Abujago, and from angles well above the elevation of their vehicles' heavy weapons, a situation complicated further by CAS strafing runs conducted around the clock by Palmyrian Army attack choppers and Air Force CAS fighters. If the Bashriyyans infantry decided to attempt an ingress into the buildings from which the Palmyrian and Sugogoan troops fired upon them, they would be met with a rear guard blocking their access to the firing posts; if they would try to take shelter in an unoccupied building, the building would be infiltrated by soldiers using the sewers to roam around the battlefield. The defence was constructed such that there would be no respite for the Bashriyyans.

The defence of Abujago wasn't limited to solely the sheer application of blistering high-precision firepower - it also came with it breaking the Bashriyyan OODA loop and their public image.

Palmyrian electronic warfare units soon began a coordinated cyber-electronic warfare effort to gain the upper hand in the electromagnetic spectrum. It takes usually one second to pick up a radio transmission and three to triangulate its position, and for the Palmyrian electronic warfare units transmitting to allied units the position of these radio transmissions took only mere fractions of a second, allowing friendly units an almost real-time overview of Bashriyyan unit positions in the area. Bashriyyan communications channels would be ruthlessly jammed by Palmyrian electronic warfare units; in cases where Palmyrians were able to hack and gain access into the Bashriyyan communications network (which at this point was a laughably easy task), the Bashriyyan communications network was flooded with pornographic audio, the Palmyrian national anthem, various Palmyrian patriotic songs, and the classic rickrolling.

Footage of fierce ground ambushes and successful airstrikes on Bashriyyan troops, and the carnage dealt upon them, would be published on social media by Palmyrian "patriotic accounts" (in reality troll farms and botnets designed to give users a rose-tinted view of Palmyrion) and official Palmyrian military-related accounts with various hashtags and keywords related to the war, in a drive to deface the Bashriyyan military image and destroy whatever little international credibility they had left. Civilians along the path of the Bashriyyan advance in the city would also take pictures of Bashriyyan forces passing by and publish them on social media, accompanied by a caption containing their location and with relevant hashtags, giving not only Palmyrian and friendly troops but also the entire world the (rough) location of Bashriyyan columns advancing into Abujago.

Lieutenant General Raskov's command bunker, Rostovian-held Tripoli, Bashriyya

Viktor Raskov was not pleased. As dust rained down on the assembled members of his command staff in the basement of what was left of a Tripolitanian apartment block, he glared at the commander of the 477th Imperial Regiment of Rifles. The unfortunate man had been summoned to explain his failure to achieve his objectives, namely the capture of the Bashriyyan presidential palace. That the newly minted colonel had failed to capture the palace was not the issue, Raskov having intended to soften up the Bashriyyan defence before sending in the men of his own division. The problem was that the 477th Regiment, or what was left of it, had failed to advance.

"You mean to tell me," Raskov growled, "That your men have refused to leave their positions and obey orders?"

"I-" The colonel swallowed nervously. Raskov drew his pistol.

"Clearly this failure shows a lack of effective leadership. Consider yourself relieved of duty." The command staff winced as the colonel's body thudded to the floor.

Raskov turned to the deceased colonel's former second-in-command. "Congratulations, Colonel. You are to capture the presidential palace at all costs."

"At all costs?" The new commander of the 477th looked unsure. Raskov reached for his weapon again. "Yes, Lieutenant General! At once!"

When the freshly promoted colonel had scurried away, Raskov turned to his adjutant. "What is the current status of our forces?"

"Two of our three assault regiments have taken fire as a result of the Bashriyyan naval bombardment, but report minimal losses," the adjutant reported. "The third reports minimal casualties and that the enemy resistance continues to break as they advance. The 477th is currently dug into positions near the presidential palace and is refusing to advance, this may change as soon as the new commander returns to his regiment. Air defence forces are reporting light casualties, but we estimate that they will be unnecessary in the near future. Some of our aircrews have made contact with our forces and report that Tripoli airbase is heavily damaged by aerial bombing. Artillery units report no casualties."

"Excellent." Raskov grinned to himself. "Have the artillery begin firing at the Bashriyyan fleet." The adjutant nodded and dispatched a few runners to deliver the orders. Due to the destruction of much of the Bashriyyan infrastructure, either because it had been bombed out or the Bashriyyans had inadvertently hit it themselves, the Rostovian forces were unable to piggyback on the local telecommunications network after widespread failures in their own radio communications equipment had become apparent. Consequently, the main means of communication between units was now the employment of luckless 'volunteers' who had to brave the Bashriyyan rocket salvos that were turning much of the city into rubble.

The Lieutenant General turned and surveyed the Tripoli street map that had been purloined from the glove compartment of a car and spread across the table that dominated the makeshift war room. Technically, it was several tables stolen from the apartments above them and placed side by side in the basement. Several drinks bottles, desk ornaments and other odds and ends with various labels taped to the sides denoted the positions of the Rostovian forces as well as their Bashriyyan counterparts. Raskov leaned forward and pushed the novelty toothbrush holder which represented the 477th towards the presidential palace.

Rostovian front lines, somewhere near the presidential palace

"I have good news, and I have bad news," Lieutenant Misha Ivanovsky began. The men of his platoon looked at him warily.

"Firstly, we have approximately thirty-eight and a half rounds of ammunition per person left." There was a collective groan. "The bad news-"

"Wait, that was the good news?" Someone muttered.

"The bad news," Misha continued, "The bad news is that we are being ordered to advance. Again." The 477th had been ordered to advance three times already, each time concluding with the seizure of about a dozen metres of Bashriyyan street before the men generally wouldn't go further. Once this happened, the commander of the unit would be recalled to the main command post and replaced while the soldiers in their new positions redistributed the scant supplies of bullets between them. The troops of Misha's platoon, which had shrank since its initial arrival in Bashriyya, looked ill. Misha wasn't sure if that was because of the constant bombardment, the heavy consumption of methamphetamine to stay awake, or the fact that they were running out of food.

"Sod this, we're out of here!" someone from the neighbouring platoon shouted. There was a general movement back towards the rear before the sound of automatic gunfire broke out behind their position. The remnants of the neighbouring platoon shuffled back into place on the front line. "Why do they get all the ammunition," one of the survivors griped as he nursed the bullet wound in his shoulder. Evidently, they hadn't gotten far before encountering the commissar detachment.

"Move out!" someone ordered. The troops of the 477th rose from their positions and started to advance down the ruined streets towards the presidential palace. The Bashriyyan bombardment had currently moved on and was destroying one of the neighbouring districts. Misha led his men forward, a handful of BMD infantry fighting vehicles from one of the 91st Division's assault regiments roared into action as the burnt-out hulls of several other BMDs belched oily black smoke into the air. The wrecks and the corpses of dead Rostovians showed the failed progress of the previous assaults. It had had an effect, however. The Bashriyyans defending the Presidential Palace were depleted, their numbers nearly spent. One more push would carry the day, it was hoped. Sporadic gunfire from the Bashriyyan defenders brought down a few of the advancing Rostovians before they were taken out by hails of precious bullets. As the troops advanced, mortar crews unloaded salvos of smoke and chemical rounds onto the defenders, driving them choking out of their positions. The advance stalled briefly as the troops paused to loot the weapons of the dead Bashriyyans before continuing on their path to the presidential palace.

Or rather, what was left of it. Nifonese bombs had turned the building into a shattered husk of its former self. Nevertheless, the Rostovian forces felt a great sense of accomplishment as one of their number climbed to the top of the building to pull down the Bashriyyan flag. This sense of accomplishment was somewhat diminished when he fell off the roof of the building after reaching a little too far over the edge of the building. After a second man successfully made his way to the building's top and raised the Rostovian banner over the Bashriyyan capital.

With this task achieved, word was sent to Lieutenant General Raskov that the 477th had secured the Presidential Palace

Rostovian artillery positions, outskirts of Tripoli

The messenger skidded to a halt next to the commander of the Rostovian artillery forces. After catching his breath, the soldier relayed Lieutenant General Raskov's orders. Word quickly spread to all the units who sprang into action.

Rocket batteries and gun barrels tilted upwards to their highest elevation and quickly let loose another deadly salvo, followed by another, and another. A rain of shells and rockets hurtled down on the Bashriyyan navy moored in the capital.

As the bombardment went on, the commander of the artillery cast a worried eye over the rapidly shrinking stockpiles of ammunition for his troops.

Headquarters of the General Staff of the Rostovian Armed Forces, Rostov City, National People's Republic of Rostovia

"-as we turn to our correspondent standing by in Tifya. Over to you, Chris."

"Thanks Bob."
The television screen changed to a man standing in a dusty city. The assembled Rostovian officers huddled around the television set, being careful not to stand in front of the camera recording everything happening on the screen. "My sources in Tifyan military circles are telling me that Bashriyya is being hit hard. There are Bashriyyan forces bogged down across the main front in Sugogo and I am told that there are repeated air sorties hitting targets deep inside Bashriyya proper. I even have reports that Bashriyya is facing some kind of ground assault on the capital Tripoli-" A massive cheer went up through the war room. "-and my sources are reporting that the Bashriyyans are being attacked by Rostovian forces that had previously been believed to be in the country to support the Nasheed regime. Obviously, much of this information is unverified, and we should take all of this with a pinch of salt as this is an active conflict, but it looks like Bashriyya's having a tough time.

General Oleg Stepanov watched the proceedings carefully. The television screen changed to show various stills and short clips from military aircraft, clearly passed onto the media after someone had determined their relative harmlessness. Some of the shots showed the bombed out ruins of Tripoli, often with burning Rostovian armoured vehicles visible in the streets. "Compile a selection of the best images to be shown to Our Vozhd," he ordered.

"But General," one of the other officers protested, "None of this footage shows our soldiers in it!" This was a major concern. The Supreme Leader was very proud of his military, even if it was a military filled with corrupt officers, incompetent recruits, and soldiers who only existed on paper, and it was in the best interests of the General Staff to provide him with videos and pictures of his soldiers in action. It was time for decisive action.

The order swiftly went out to the nearest garrison. Within the hour, an entire brigade was storming through part of Rostov City that was under heavy construction. Camera crews caught the action before sending the raw footage to the propaganda department who, after combing through the recorded news broadcast, inserted various Bashriyyan vehicles, flags, and low-definition corpses into partially built residential districts. Meanwhile, the genuine shots of Tripoli were carefully edited to remove the burning Rostovian armour which could be seen cluttering up some of the streets. When General Stepanov was satisfied with the finished product, the heavily sanitised version of events was presented to Osip Lukhov for his perusal.

The artillery of the Rostovians completely missed the Bashriyyan Navy, the Rostovian artillery was so inaccurate they hit everything but their intended target. The Bashriyyan sailors laughed it off and commenced heavy ground breaking bombardment on the Rostovian forces which was strong enough to potentially kill nearly all Rostovian troops around the Presidential Palace area. Bashriyyan soldiers around the area after the bombardment then charged en masse with the goal of eliminating any surviving Rostovian troops. However the mission was not complete yet, It was also the time to locate General Raskov's command bunker Bashriyyan special forces quickly marked the area believed to be the command bunker and the bunker was to be struck with Thermobaric weapons.

Image

3 TOS-1A system would begin to open fire on the location believed to be the command base of General Rasko, the bombardment would last for a few hours, and would be backed up by supporting BM-21 GRAD artillery equipped with Cluster munitions, CS tear gas artillery was also launched on the area to smoke the Rostovians out. Since Tear gas was flammable and not legally considered a WMD it was easy to deploy, and naturally due to the flames surrounding it created a cyanide type smoke (Similar to what occurred during Waco) that would slowly kill anything within Rasko's position should they be stupid enough to stay inside and not come out and surrender.

Missile Damage

Once again, the Bashriyyan missiles would sow death and destruction onto the nation of Sugogo and its people.
In the capital, the high-explosive warheads would kill hundreds of civilians indiscriminately and leveled dozens upon dozens of buildings. Up north, the combination of HE and molten-metal were decently effective at destroying the water pumps in both Al-Behaira and Bhaghara City, in addition to some near-misses hitting nearby infrastructure. About a dozen workers were killed, and roughly four times that wounded in the blast and rubble collapses of the attacks on the pumping facilities.

However, at this stage in the game the destruction was more symbolic than strategic. This is not to say it was totally ineffective, as Sugogoan logistics into the unoccupied cities would be strained now that fresh water was a requirement for military operations; but rather, unlike attacks on Bashriyyan water infrastructure on Lake Sugogo, they still controlled other sources of fresh water (including most of the headwaters of Lake Sugogo itself) - and the main military and civilian holding in Bhaghara City was closest to the river and sources of upstream water.

Likewise, Sugogo now saw itself as engaged in a "civilizational war". Lives of civilians, beyond just their intrinsic value as human beings and family members, were also seen as a necessary resource - every black Central Afruikahn life lost created a vacuum at risk of being filled by an Arab invader. In this case, the Bashriyyan strikes were yet another slap to the face of the Sugogoan nation - but they were far from a morale loss. If anything, quite the opposite, as the attacks would just galvanize and enrage them rather than scare them into submission and surrender.

Eastern Front

With their command & communications having been crippled and disrupted by Nifonese air strikes, paired with the fact they had no shift or change in action plan, the Bashriyyan lines began to fall to the three-way Sugugoan flanking attack. Failing flanks allowed the Sugogoans to press through, swarming into their softer logistical units and what was left of any kind of command and control structure. It also allowed them to engage Bashriyyan frontline positions directly from the rear, overrunning what limited pseudo-"fortified" positions the invaders could have constructed.

In concert with the infantry units breaking through from the flanks, the Sugogoan armored brigade began the process of disengaging. Recovery vehicles, those being both actual military vehicles and civilian tow-trucks, were called in to remove the damaged or disabled vehicles; meanwhile, the combat vehicles would slowly fall back to refuel and allow their crews a brief resting period; each platoon of vehicles falling back as enemy positions they were engaged with collapsed.
The goal was to quickly recycle their combat capacity before moving to repeat the process and slam into the Bashriyyan infantry brigade on the border with Auxumia. Their plan was working, but it required speed and mobility to properly execute.

Abujago

Rapidly becoming a major grindhouse, Abujago was the subject of heavy fighting and high casualties on both sides. Bashriyyan artillery, while inaccurate and without coordination by drones, aircraft or signals intelligence, was still high in number and capable of wiping out positions at random. Fortunately for the defenders, they had anticipated this, and chosen positions which were better protected from collapse or fragmentation from explosion. Unfortunately, the sheer volume of artillery fire meant that casualties would be high regardless and many positions would be leveled. Beyond the fight for the city, it meant that homes and businesses were being collapsed and damaged at an alarming rate, ensuring that the humanitarian crisis would continue even after the war.

However, in terms of defense the Sugogoans and their allies were holding. While artillery was the biggest killer of Sugogoan soldiers, they were making the Bashriyyans pay easily threefold if not greater from machine gun fire, IEDs and mortars. In many areas "bogged down" was not a term that applied, as it implied a slow dragging slugfest rather than the total wiping of squads and platoons from two to three sides as was the case with many of the streets.
The major highway into Sugogo was a virtual impasse, a nearly 1km "no man's land" between the westernmost extent of the Bashriyyan burning vehicle skeletons and the easternmost Sugogoan barricade where attacking soldiers would be picked off and mowed down if they tried to cross. This was, to the defenders advantage as it kept the main crossroads clear
But, with the more "open" nature of the industrial districts populated with machinery and large, singular warehouses rather than multi-story buildings boasting multiple windows and entryways, the Bashriyyans had managed to push beyond the outskirts and into the heart of the city in the north, and were now threatening the railyard.

[TO ADD AA GUNS AGAINST ATTACKERS]

Inyurstan Offensive

Once again the ER-370 Falcon Eye would take to the skies. This time, however, it's escort was much smaller - though it moved in concert with a hefty pack of drones. In contrast to before the aircraft would not be doing reconnaissance as much as active control and Target identification. Acting as a functional "AWACS for ground forces" the Falcon Eye would be collecting GSR, SIGINT and ELINT data; as well as those gathered by the UAVs and transmit them to ground forces as necessary. As a result, the active units of the Inyurstan Army would have an essential map of active enemy positions and movements allowing them to better decide which Bashriyyan positions to engage. Furthermore, this was not just a one-way data link. Ground forces would be able to train to transmit their own scouting data and observations back to the Falcon Eye which could then redistribute the data as needed.

The ground and skyline in Tifya would light up like an Independence Day celebration. Heavy rockets and conventional artillery alike would race upward from the ground piercing the night sky.
It was a known statistic that, generally speaking, over 60% of artillery casualties occurred in the first two minutes of a barrage, with subsequent casualties dropping as the barrage continued. The reason for this surprising statistic being that most people tended to find cover once they realize they are being bombarded. For this reason, the Type-44 "Calango" self-propelled gun would fire three shells that would all land precisely at the same - meaning that when the opening salvo hit, the Bashriyyans would be receiving the fire volume of a force three times the size of the actual artillery formation. Not to be outdone, the Type-270Y1 (M270) MLRS would unleash a massive barrage that would also be timed for the first rockets to land within the same 5-second interval as the trio'd artillery shells. Unlike their brothers to the north, these units would be launching more tactical, short-range rockets loaded up with cluster munitions to wipe out entire "grid squares" of enemy troops. Targeted by these rocket attacks would be the most mobile enemy units in north, primarily IFV, APC and all-terrain equipped mechanized forces, units which would be able to respond to the coming ground fighting.

Outnumbered but not outgunned this was the kind of war in your still was designed to fight one with air superiority and absolute dominance in the intel game. The combined interesting forces would be able to pick and choose what strength bashing and concentrations they were attacking like a fat Uncle at a family barbecue digging into meats and cheeses and breads as he pleased. The Bashriyyans, meanwhile, would be hard pressed to figure out what strength unit they were being attacked by. Those units lucky enough to still have communications that weren't either blown up or hijacked by PSYOPS would be hard pressed to identify the difference between a YT-1 Caiman light tank, a YT-2 Gavial tank destroyer and a YT-3 Crocodile MBT in the fading light - and much worse if taken into account the thermal signature reduction on all three vehicles.
An armored thrust against light/mechanized force on open ground would yield high casualties for the defender (or more accurately in the case of the Bashriyyans attempting a mobile offensive, the victims); and the ability of armored units to eat up softer enemy formations would further add to the confusion. By cutting into the side flank of the Bashriyyan artillery division, they would also impair what little ability the enemy had to respond to them - if the enemy could even coordinate one in the first place. Even if they realized what was attacking them and where, even if they could rally a response, they would have no ability to accurately target the Inyurstan forces without (or even with) obliterating their own troops.

Inyurstan Air Campaign

In the north, the Inyurstans were massing a separate assault campaign to keep the pressure on Bashriyya.
Another combination of aerial and ground-based rocket forces would be employed to target enemy infrastructure, this time further opening up the populous Bashriyyan northern cities as a front in the war, and ideally impairing their ability to continue operations in Sugogo.

Late and coming, but nonetheless potent, the main goal of the Crotalea's and their supporting aircraft was a partial "decapitation strike" - a hit against Bashriyyan leadership. Military commanders were priority, as the continued error of their breathing existence was one that could complicate Inyurstan attacks against and into Bashriyya; but where applicable political figureheads and other connected leaders were also targets where the opportunities presented themselves.

[TO ADD GUIDED BOMB ATTACKS AGAINST BASHRIYYAN COMMANDERS & GOVERNMENT LEADERS]

The latter of which could be controlled for a slower flight thanks to some manual steering as a result of its guidance system, the pilot using the controls to perform minor maneuvers which would burn airspeed while keeping the bomb on-target.

It's not French,it's not Spanish,it's Inyurstan
"Inyourfaceistan" refers to my player/user name, "Inyursta" is my IC name. NOT INYURSTAN. IF YOU CALL INYURSTA "INYURSTAN" THEN IT SHOWS THAT YOU CANT READ. Just refer to me as IYF or Stan.
