Several things happened at once.
The tunnels were filled with tear gas, attacking the eyes, causing extreme pain and crying, and making it far harder for the unprotected syndicalists to breathe. Then came the gunfire.
Bright helmet-mounted lights blinded the rebels, while providing the Prussian-Poles with a clear image of their enemies, even with their visors down. Accurate fire from the Galils, M249s, FN MAGs, and G3s of the Prussian-Poles raked the rebel lines, proving more than a match for the more numerous, but undisciplined rabble. Whenever something more serious- perhaps a machine-gun nest, or heavy cover-came up, the ample M72s and RPG-7s issued to the troops would easily blast them to smithereens.
Neither was fleeing an option. The Berlin police, despite their (greatly exaggerated) losses earlier, held firm, and continued to lock down the sewers, prepared to arrest or shoot any syndicalists that attempted to escape.
Death had come to the Syndicalists, in the form of disciplined, well-trained paratroopers, faces hidden behind Altyn visors. The individual man was gone, subsumed into the company, and the unit fought as if they were a hivemind, slowly clearing out the sewers of Berlin with brutal efficency.
