The first drone cart had found its mark. It wasn't the fastest of its kind, but it had the shortest path. Parked in the garage of the district's police station were two unmanned police cruisers. The drone cart slowed down as it climbed the final incline, ignited its diesel, and exploded. The billowing flames quickly consumed the two cruisers as the cinderblock wall collapsed into a 2 meter high pile of rubbish. The four remaining cruisers parked inside were trapped, as according to plan.
Within the next 10 minutes, the city was rocked with similar explosions. By the time the citizens realized what the carts were and the first police calls were given, it was already too late. Out of Holom's 74 police stations, 65 were bombed in exactly the same fashion. Other than the patrol cars already on the roads, the police were immoblized.
As the first bombs went off, the message "CHEERS" was sent to the "Taxi" unit. As their name suggested, they were ex-cabbies whose intent was to create more havoc. Most had joined the Black Sun out of disgust as the municipal government, following the lead of President Wells' "pro-market", "anti-union" initiatives, sold the city taxi to Uber. Now, in the time of Holom's evacuation, it was time to avenge their lost jobs. Each cabbie lay in wait in one of Holom's major escape arteries in the south, southeast, east, and southwest. As the roads filled with anxious families trying to escape the chaos, the cabbies struck. Veering into their left, the cabbies turned their cars sideways, smashing their cars into 3-4 adjacent cars. The speed, perfectly tuned by their many years of experience, was enough to ensure the cabbie's own survival and disable enough cars to permanently block traffic in multiple lanes. With the shortage of police already an issue, any remaining police and firefighters would be drawn to the scene. Until then, each cabbie waited. If a pig showed, he would draw his pistol, trading life for life. Unless cleared, the only escape path for civilians lay through the path of the Tawwassen Army. Unless cleared, the piled up traffic would stretch back for miles, deep into the city's center, preventing both the mobilization of the city's defenders and the escape of VIPs. Anyone who tried to "turn around" and escape through the northeast would soon find the area equally unnavigable as the roads were reduced to a series of craters.
As the message of "CHEERS" was broadcast across each cell phone, the Black Sun units holed up in their sweaty hideouts breathed a sigh of relief. They could finally leave. Stowing their black garb in their backpacks, they each headed for the nearest subway station. The subway was the only transit system not directly attacked as the only way to exit the city by subway was through the airport. The roads would soon be full of angry drivers jamming the streets, so haste was required. As they croweded their way into the silver tubes, few gave the "backpackers" a second glance. They were just refugees like everyone else, it seemed. Only at the "City Hall" stop did a few observant escapees stop to gape at the madmen who were squeezing their way off the human meat grinder, fleeing back into the city now put under lockdown, but no one stopped them. Most were too focused on prayers to God, on comforting their own children to care. In a flash, the subway departed without them.
Atkemrian Police headquarters
The police radio was going up in reports of bombings of police stations being attacked around the city. The police was immobilized and there was not many options of retaliation other than calling upon the vigilantes.
Vigilante headquarters
The vigilantes would be on high alert when they got the message they would mobilize. Using call records they would trace the drones coming from somewhere in the gambling district. They would proceed to check each and every building there until the terrorists were found.
Highways out of Holom
As the people waited for evacuation they got impatient at the cabs blocking their paths. People began to get out of their cars and began to attack the people holding traffic. Their cars would be flipped over moved to it's side, moved off the road and burnt. The cabbies would be dragged out of the car and beaten by masses of people.
