Since Port Gallagher is the port of origin, I’d like to go into detail about the entire port under American rule as apart of my first post, see what some people can do with what I give them, if allowed.

Sure thing. in fact, part of my plan is also to have your officer come aboard there as a replacement. Time for my captain and him to get to know each other a bit.

Trumpy here. (I'm sorry.)

Dropping by after Cartoonia posts. One ot my characters -- guess who -- is both a massive ham and easily triggered.

Also, Kuro, would you mind that very same character trying to bring in a horse?

FYI, i will be posting a few characters from my roster at first, and will have minor characters that will not be apart of the ship (IE Port crew, residents)

a horse aboard might be a bit too much for a passenger ship like this.

Ehh Kuronami I'm about to make my post soon but I need to ask you about if it could be possible that they boarded the ship in Mervay?? Since I don't see that they would go to the other side of the atlantic to board the RMS Caloris, or does Port Gallagher, Cartoonia is where they have to board the RMS Caloris??

If you want to have boarded in Mervay then that's fine, otherwise you can always say you were on holiday in Cartoonia. Up to you.

She's certainly cute and welcome aboard. Is she just traveling as a passenger or is she also working aboard too?

She's working for Ercwlff and Gwendolyn. And thanks for your first remark. :)

Posted. Hopefully that's enough for one of my characters, or would anyone like a bit more? My two other characters are free; who needs a shoulder rub?

Everyone's first posts are looking great! This is already shaping to be a great RP! I'll do my best to see if I can address everyone but in the meantime always feel free to move about the ship, even flag up an event as I'll be having to juggle plenty of unlisted NPCs that can show up anywhere and anytime. And of course there's always everyone else. Still a few more people to see posts from. Was hoping also someone would want to lay claim to the early motor vehicle and interact with the captain's cute little kids! any other questions or concerns or ideas always feel free to ask.

Truth be told I don't know if they did in real life but I figure no harm in having one in this fictional version.

Why should they not? Nasty thing, smoke. Irritates the throats, especially those of a man who grew up breathing the free air of the grassy steppes of Poland-Lithuania.

Given the movement against smoking is of really recent provenance (Marlboro Man ads, for instance, last aired within living memory), one would think an era so ignorant of the health effects of smoking would allow smokers to linger in dining rooms, unsegregated from everyone else.

That, and there were once enough people who thought of tobacco as fragrant, or at least positively aromatic. But I won't dispute Kuro here; too much work.

Actually, Kuro is right, there were dedicated rooms for smokers in the past, too, the Fumoir. Under different circumstances, one might add: In larger households and for the gentlemen of the house, where they would retreat to smoke away from the ladies after dinner. These rooms might as well be described as what we would today call a mancave. After a while, there even came specialized clothing into being, the Smoking.
Ships and in the early 20th century even trains got their own Fumoirs, famously RMS Titanic and her sisters had Smoking Rooms for the First Class Passengers.
