The Eagle and the Lights (FanMT|CLOSED)

Postby Novaya Equestria » Sat Feb 23, 2019 7:06 pm

The Novayan Commonwealth.

A nation known for its militarism and reaction, long adopted from Prussia and, later, Imperial Germany. An archipelago nation that saw and joined conflicts one hundred years ago. A nation known for its hereditary military dictatorship. A nation known for its otherwise carefree, freedom-loving people in a militaristic society.

A nation that lay silent—long forgotten in the annals of history by every nations in the world—ever since the Cold War began. Ever since it began its long sleep.

The eagle slept while her children watched with careful eyes, wary of what may have happened to the rest of the world. Her children, acting as overseas watchers, surveyed for trouble. Her Antarctic and eight lunar colonies, respectively established in 1948 and 1968, too, watched over for any trouble; the Novayan Antarctic Fleet, composed of two fleets, patrolling the Antarctic coastline for any forms of trouble - be it pirates, sea-hunters, or litters.

The isolation of the eagle, sleeping in her peaceful, quiet sleep, had been long and deep, the eagle that slept so long renounced its intentions of being involved in many things every nations, every animals, every people, and every spirits.

An isolation that was kept quiet, and kept long, placing the eagle in a deep coma-like state, a long sleep...

...until a few lights approached. Followed by more lights...

...and finally, the Sun rose in the horizon.

The spirit of Novaya and her people—extinguished, dormant, laying silent, a candle without a light—finally lit.

Office of the Grand Marshal, the Reichstag
Morales, Novayan Commonwealth

It had been a normal day for Borealis Norsoutha, a Grand Marshal of the Commonwealth of Novaya - title for the hereditary military dictator. The 23-year-old Novayan had been made Grand Marshal six years ago, after his daddy resigned to focus more on the Novayan Marine Corps. Also a 3-stars Admiral of the Novayan Commonwealth Navy, Grand Marshal Borealis had been busy in doing paperwork, and that involved documents having three boxes for Yes, No and Abstain, a short description, and the pros and cons for each policy, law and act. Or, in Borealis' case, less paperwork and more like a school exam or pop quiz.

Borealis' office was clean, having a few portraits of the founder of the Novayan Commonwealth, the first Grand Marshal, Emmanuel Norsoutha. There are books stacked nicely on a few bookshelves, and the room contain two to four couches/sofas surrounding a table right in front of the desk. On the right of his desk is a computer, a Windows 10 computer built in Novaya, which shows the Novayan Central News Agency's video regarding the weather and the passing of a new law, moments before Borealis clicked on a video, posted by the Novayan Anime Research Society, which explains much about what Shoujo Kageki Revue Starlight is all about. The title of the vid also had a "(DISCLAIMER: SPOILERS AHOY)."

That is, until a message from the Foreign Affairs Department reached his computer. Grand Marshal Borealis, annoyed by the message, clicked on it and reads it. What he read caused his eyes to be wide, then sent a message to the Novayan Commonwealth Naval Admiralty Staff, Prime Minister, Parliament, and High Command. The message contains this simple words.

From: Grand Marshal Borealis Norsoutha
To: Admiralty, Parliament, Prime Minister, Naval Admiralty, and High Command
Subject/Topic: Code Black

The Veil has lift. The Broken Veil has been lifted.

Morales International Airport

For a nation that was isolated from the rest of the world, the Novayan Commonwealth had been able to keep up with the developing nations - the First World and Second World nations. The Morales International Airport, the Novayan Space Agency's Mount Hope Space Center, and the Atlas International Spaceport are such examples of Novaya keeping pace with the developing world.

Six Opel Blitz trucks, carrying members of the Novayan Honor Guard, half of them wearing 19th Prussian infantry uniforms and half of them wearing the service uniforms of the Novayan Armed Forces, stopped near the entrance as they rushed inside the terminal and position themselves near the airport runway, ceremonial weapons and music instruments in hand. A limousine - or rather, a really militarized limousine, an armored one, that is - parks near the entrance, accompanied by sixteen Black Guard personnel, decked in the Prussian hussars' uniforms and riding on horses, as Grand Marshal Borealis exits the limousine heads to the airport apron, and positioned himself between the Novayan Honor Guard and its music band.

Sun's Coming

Arianeza Sol Victoria Infante, the General of The Solisian Liberty Blue Division - División Azul de la libertad, was together with one of the presidents of the Solisian Union, Presidente Atalaya Rivas, the leader and representative of the Union and most of all, the people of the Sun.

They were accompanied by 11 selected men and women from the division and then by the crew of the plane, the government jet named after a Solisian artist, a woman named Clarita.

They arrived at the airport, five hours after the Union sent a message to the Novayans that they were coming as part of a state visit. When they touched down on the runway and the jet made it to the tarmac, close to where the Novayans were waiting for them, Arianeza turned to her President as she finished reading the dossier the intelligence people made for her to study the Novayans.

Arianeza had read her own copy. The Novayans, according to the spooks, were a part of the Federal Republic of Novaya. The general snickered at that. According to the spooks, Novaya wasn't a republic nor was it federal. It was too militarized, too focused on one person and most of all, it was led by an Admiral. Why not a General? She shook her head as the President rose from her seat and told her companion, "Shall we?"

The general nodded and shook her President's offered hand. Together, they made their way to the way out of the plane, followed by their guards. Already, four of the guards left the plane ahead of them to make sure that things were safe.

Once it was safe, they made it out under the sun, greeting the waiting Novayans.

The Novayan Black Guard and Armed Forces Honor Guard rifle platoons turned their heads to the Solisians as the Novayan Black Guard Music Corps and the Armed Forces Honor Guard Music Corps played the national anthem of the Novayan Commonwealth. Grand Marshal Borealis Norsoutha stood alongside two Novayan Black Guardsmen, watching the Solisians approach them. "Guten tag, Solisian leaders," said Grand Marshal Borealis, "Ako ay si Borealis Mir Norsoutha-Tomoshima, Admiral of the Novayan Navy and Grand Marshal of the Novayan Commonwealth. It was an honor to meet you."

Grand Marshal Borealis then proceeded to lead the way to the limousine, just outside the airport, for the Solisian presidents. "When you sent your message to the Novayan Foreign Affairs Department, intending to visit the Novayan Commonwealth, you broke our long isolation imposed in 1945, leading to the Lifted Veil scenario," he told the Solisian presidents as they entered the airport terminal and head towards the main exit, where the really militarized limousine that was accompanied by sixteen Black Guard personnel, decked in Prussian hussar uniforms and mounted on horses. One of the Black Guard hussars dismounted and opens one of the limousine doors.

"And if any of you Solisians ask, yes, I'm a 3-stars Admiral, and the Novayan Commonwealth has a Naval Admiralty Staff, which had unusually prominent roles in this society and wields a great deal of influence," Grand Marshal Borealis said to the Solisian presidents before boarding his rather militarized and armored limousine. "We'll be heading to the People's Hall, where my office and residence's at," Borealis added before grabbing a radio and speaks into it, "Captain, I want several guys to accompany other foreign leaders once they arrive."

OOC Note: Sorry for taking so long to post!

After over half a century of peace and silence, Novaya's sudden "awakening" and openness for international negotiations has put many a state in concern, especially so with the United Nations. Everybody knows about Novaya's military; the first thing every outsider thinks of when regarding Novaya's culture is their military, war-related or otherwise. This long-standing history of Novaya's might has made them seemingly invincible not just because of their size, or their ability to squash any threat that questions them, but the government's amazing ability to not actually use this haphazardly. If they really wanted to, the Novayans could defeat America right now, and perhaps even achieve world domination if they so-desired. So what holds them back? Nobody really knows. The 20th century, with all the chaos it brought, could only awaken a small portion of Novaya's forces for the two world wars, before their military might would go right back to sleep and nod off through pretty much the entire world war, as well as the height of the War on Terror.

So what awakens the Eagle now? Aside from vague references to "a broken veil being lifted," there's no answer at all. The United States and the United Nations are already anticipating war based off paranoia alone. Thankfully, the two factions have negotiated. The current President of the United States will not be in office for much longer, and fears regardless of Democrat, Republican, or some other third party, the next president is at risk of starting a war. Although his own reputation is marred in military conflicts, the President seeks to address the Novayans now and nip any potential problems with them in the bud.

A deal has been made between the President and a relatively anonymous individual known only as "Ju Wong." As a sign of gratitude for ensuring Novaya does not go to war with America and her allies, the President and the United Nations will agree to Ju Wong's formation of a UN anti-corruption bureau with a smallish armed force for emergency rescue operations. The organization already has plans drawn out for its creation along with a name: The Tactical Rescue & Anti-Corruption Eschelon (Nickname: TRACE).

Ju Wong's history, as well as his true name, is almost completely lost. He is only known for his career as a lobbyist for the general gaming industry in America. Why he of all people is creating TRACE and serving as the ambassador to Novaya on behalf of America is a mystery to pretty much everyone... but the Charybdis Organization already has a few clues. Ju Wong has connections to a secret cult or monastery with members being highly secretive. Their ideas are only shared among each other, their bodies are deliberately mutilated to mask their true identities, and almost no information regarding their true nature is shared in written word; only among themselves. They also know each other full-well, as they immediately recognize outsiders even when disguised as their own. The only known thing about the monastery is their interests in Ju Wong, their connections to various terrorist organizations regardless of their political or religious beliefs, and constant fears of a "broken reality." Four tiny scars on their right arms and hands are the only consistent indication on who is truly a member of these strange Ju Wong monks.

Arriving at Morales International Airport is Ju Wong himself, along with two members of the President's Secret Service serving as both personal bodyguards and advisers, and a dozen American UN peacekeepers for backup. The President himself is not present though due to increasing concerns being juggled between foreign terrorists, the upcoming presidential election that threatens to put his own political party into the ground, and an already-scheduled appointment with the British government. Curiously, there are no monastery members present other than Ju Wong himself, likely due to the necessity of their secrecy. That, and the whole point of Ju Wong being here is to represent America and assure peace between the United States and Novaya.

The Americans step off their plane and address the greeting Novayans. Ju Wong and company observe the Novayan bands and audience all around them. Somehow they did not expect a thunderous welcome, but are just as pleased to simply stand by and watch the festivities before the locals escort them to their next destination.

"I'm impressed," remarks Ju Wong. "Never in my life did I expect to be setting foot within Novaya. First time for everything, I suppose. Always a first time."

"Don't get too comfortable there, pal," a voice speaks to him over an earpiece. Inside the plane are the pilots and a few "clergymen," all of whom are monastery members pretending to be a part of the United Nations from various foreign countries. "With the broken reality in effect, there's a possibility the negotiations here could go just as smoothly as they can disastrously. This is the first time any one of us has set foot on Novayan grounds, and I mean this in the most literal sense. Try to act calm, and stick with the plan. You mess this up, and World War III will happen much sooner than anticipated. We'll be fortunate if we can unscrew such a tragic situation."

"You boys seriously don't know what to expect from Novaya?"

"Nope. You're just as blind as we are. Just act normal and American as possible, and all should be good. Once these Novayan negotiations have been dealt with, our dreams with TRACE will become the new reality. All we need is to ensure they don't declare war on America or the United Nations. Considering past realities, and the chances of war should be pretty low. In fact, I say these attempts at peace will be easier done than said. We couldn't have been blessed with an easier task! Now get out there, and make some new friends."

As if on cue, the Novayan Armed Forces Honor Guard Music Corps and Black Guard Music Band all played the national anthem of the Novayan Commonwealth, the Hymn of the New Society. Known as "Martsa ng Bagong Pagsilang," it is the secondary national anthem of the Philippines before the 1986 EDSA Revolution resulted in the end of the Marcos regime, leading to its removal as the Philippines' 2nd national anthem. However, by chance, luck or other reasons, made its way to the Novayan Commonwealth. Ironically, for the Philippine song to reach Novaya, the Novayan Commonwealth doesn't even have a so called "New Society," but if one were to think of it, Novaya's name is actually Russian, meaning "New."

By the time the Novayan national anthem ended, a civil servant, likely the Foreign Affairs Secretary's assistant, approached Ju Wong and the two President's Secret Service (the Novayans would call them PresSecServ) agents. "Greetings, sir," said the ForAffSec's assistant, "you're late for the party. Grand Marshal Borealis Norsoutha had already left with General Arianeza Sol Victoria Infante and President Atalaya Rivas in the Grand Marsha's limousine. Fortunately, another limousine's parked just outside Morales International Airport. Follow me." The ForAffSec's assistant then led the three Americans and the UN Peacekeepers, if Ju Wong's willing to bring them, to the limousine, which, frankly, is escorted by eight Black Guard hussars and four police officers riding on motorcycles.

A Black Guard hussar opened one of the limousine doors for them to enter. "Come this way, gents," said the ForAffSec's assist Novayans, lining the pedestrianant enters. "And if you have any questions regarding Novaya and her military, culture, politics, society, Antarctic and Lunar colonies, and others, you may ask. And if you ask me, yes, Novaya colonized three-tenths of the Antarctic coastline and five-thirteenths of Antarctica, and had eight colonies on the Moon during the mid-to-late 20th century; the Antarctic colonies had been established between 1948 and 1951, and the lunar colonies between 1968 and 1990," said the ForAffSec's assistant, "And no, it's because we wanted to expand in order to preserve all kinds of race. Youkais included. And, like I said, if you have questions regarding Novaya and her military, culture, politics, society, Antarctic and Lunar colonies, and others, you may ask."

And with that, the limousine, four motor cops, and eight Black Guard hussars headed for the direction of the People's Hall. After the limousine and its escorts left the Airport, Novayan senior citizens, factory workers, students, off duty police officers and militia members, store owners, librarians, and teachers all lined the streets, watching the Westerners with curiosity, their weapons holstered or unholstered. And yet, not even a single Novayan would try firing at the Westerners. "Us Novayans don't usually kill people in gun violence, particularly because us Novayans, who tend to responsibly own and maintain their guns, aren't the kind of guys who'd shoot first and ask questions later," said the ForAffSec's assistant, "unlike you Americans. No offense."

"Oi, no bringing up political stuffs from America," said the limousine driver in a Russian accent. "Yeah, yeah, I know," replied the ForAffSec's assistant in Russian.

King Diarmid IV Coimhead, who is currently wearing a blue and white kilt, along with his wife Christine, the newly appointed ambassador Duncan McGillivray, who is also wearing the same kilt, and a female journalist attaché from the Dunkeld Echo Fenella MacCormick prepared themselves as the engines slowed into silence. They all stood up, with most awaiting the King's word.

"Ladies and gentlemen," said the King in a visible Scottish accent, "may the Eagle be friendly to our deepest souls. Keep yourselves presentable and we'll be fine. Ambassador, and Miss MacCormick," he then smiled, "if you please."

Nodding, Duncan and Fenella head behind the monarchs after providing them the way up, and waited for the door to open. As it opens, the King and Queen see the stairs leading down the tarmac and walk down.

"Let's go, lassie," Duncan chimed in a whisper.

Fenella then took a deep breath and walked alongside him.

The "Hymn of the New Society" was, again, played by the ARmed Forces Honor Guard Music Corps and Black Guard Music Band. Between them and the Armed Forces Honor Guard Platoon and Black Guard Rifle Platoon is a simple civil servant, dressed with white, short sleeved shirt and black pants. "Greetings, your Highness! Welcome to the Novayan Commonwealth, and it's an honor to have you three arrive here," said the civil servant, "Follow me to the limousine. We're heading to the People's Hall; and yes, it's the Volkshalle, but without Nazi symbols."

The civil servant leads them to the limousine, escorted by four motor cops and eight Black Guard hussars. One of the hussars opened the doors for them to enter. Upon taking seats, the limousine and its escorts left for the People's Hall. The civil servant then said to the four, "You guys are permitted to ask me any questions regarding Novaya: culture, military, politics, government, society, Antarctic colonies, lunar colonies, history, anything, sir and ma'ams."

Sun's Coming

The two Solisians were happy to meet their counterparts. However, it did surprise them as they realized that they were speaking not only to a man who held the office that a civilian should as the head of a republic but also held military office. What audacity!

Meanwhile, the President had to ask the question, "What did you mean by the Lifted Veil scenario? Is that a contingency plan your nation has made up?"

At the same time, one of the guards, a woman as tall as six feet and with fair skin and blue eyes, approached the General and reported to her that it was clear. The general nodded and let the guard return to her men just as she listened to what the Novayan had to say to his own men. She thought that this man was...a little informal. Guys? Really? That's how you address your subordinates? She shook her head a little at that and folded her arms as she waited for the Novayan to answer the Presidents question.

"I'm glad you asked, President Arianeza. The Lifted Veil scenario is an Emergency Case Scenario developed by Grand Marshal Alexander Norsoutha, who led the Novayan Commonwealth to war against the Axis Powers and with the Allies, but only to right the wrongs committed by the British and French back at Versailles in 1918," Grand Marshal Borealis Norsoutha replied. "You see, the Lifted Veil scenario was created by Grand Marshal Alexander in case the Novayan Commonwealth is awakened after its long sleep has been broken. And the cause of this scenario? Events that may have been too much even for us Novayans."

Grand Marshal Borealis then continued, "The event that led to the Long Sleep scenario were the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, which is too much for the Novayans to handle. And the cause of the Lifted Veil scenario? You and your people and nation, President Arianeza. You Solisians were what brought us out of our long, cold sleep and isolation. By sending a telegram to the Foreign Affairs Department, you awakened the Sovereign Eagle that slept so long since 1945. And by sending us a telegram, you've finally woken up the Novayan Commonwealth to the bipolar world it had become."

Taking two chugs from his blue water bottle, Grand Marshal Borealis told them, "And here you Solisians are. Arriving at Morales International Airport, which had broken the spell of our long sleep."

Ju Wong and the other UN members looked at the Foreign Affairs Secretary assistant with confusion. Nobody mentioned anything about Antarctica or the lunar colonies. The United States for the most part, while sorely behind in the space race, could care less when dealing with their other problems. Antarctica and the moon featuring Novayan bases are a problem for Ju Wong and his monastery though. However, the Novayans shouldn't even know about this unless they've been spying on the organization for quite some time, and somehow doing so without the knowledge of any members despite their tight security details. And only Novaya knows what they're even talking about with youkais.

"Well I guess we must not be very American!" Boasts Ju Wong, with others chuckling. "All of these men with me are armed Americans, and yet not one bullet has been fired. I'm not even carrying a gun right now!"

It's interesting to note that Ju Wong's dark skin tone, curly hair, and full-beard make his appearance very exotic and unusual. He could possibly be from Mexico as his "official" origin records state, and became Americanized overtime. Or he could even be somebody from the Middle East posing very successfully as an American. There have even been conspiracy theories surrounding him and the few "monks" he is seen with from time to time, with the American right-wing suspecting him of being an actual "reptilian invader."

"But seriously though: We're here because the United States and the United Nations do not need another problem within the world, especially if that problem is a war with Novaya. Nobody really knows where the smoke is, but these talks of a "broken veil" are raising cries of a fire."

"Your comments regarding Antarctica, your moon colonies, and... youkais? Well I'm not sure about that last part, much less what those even are. I'll confess though that your nation might be posing a problem for the United Nations. Or more specifically, myself."

"This is highly unprofessional," admits Ju Wong, "but I'm just going to take a wild guess and say your government already knows what TRACE is before it is even formed. Tactical Rescue & Anti-Corruption Echelon. The agency's goals will be to assist with foreign aide in all member countries and to keep corrupt politicians in check."

"I'm only saying all this because I seriously doubt this limo is not bugged, and we Americans don't appreciate being spied on by Big Brother!" Ju Wong couldn't resist shouting this within the limo, just to make himself perfectly clear. He then takes a breath to calm himself down, "But I digress. Any further discussions about politics should really be kept to the world leaders, not some government lackey. All you need to know is if these peace talks go swimmingly, then the US President will give full-backing to help create TRACE. If I'm successful here, then TRACE shall be fully operational by next year. I've been planning this for much longer than anyone else may realize, and I've promised these boys will be among my first priorities for employment into the Agency!"

Back on the plane, the monks are a little nervous. The success of these peace talks is of an intense priority for them, but they know full well of Ju Wong's stubbornness. It runs within the entire monastery frankly; something they like to call "desired independence." They do not like having to be pushed around by omnipresent, domineering figures. They particularly view nationalism, in all of its forms, as something to be rebelled against. However in this case they have to whisper into Ju Wong's ear and warn him not to let his passion get in the way of the mission at hand. It is not simply TRACE or the monastery on the line should Mr. Wong fail at his duties.

Ju Wong is looking outside the limousine windows and wonders if he should be frightened or angry at the sight of all these people carrying weapons around. At first he finds it hard to believe the Novayans can achieve such low mortality rates despite the overwhelming presence of firearms, but then remembers the state's influence over everyone and likely regulations regarding immigrants entering Novaya. In a sense, everybody knows everybody, but something about this country just feels... impractical to Ju Wong. He cannot tell if he is a real man staring into a nationalist's dream that is encompassing all around the limo, or if these are real people staring at a limo containing an anomalous, radical man. Why is he not even questioning the legitimacy of the limousine itself? Simply because it is the most normal thing here? Perhaps this is what the monastery was referring to as "the broken reality?"

"So I've rambled more than enough about America, and TRACE, and all this other nonsense," Ju Wong notes out. "What exactly is this "lifted veil" your government is in an uproar over? I'm not entirely sure if I understand; reports from the US and UN have been disappointingly vague on the details."

"The Lifted Veil scenario is an Emergency Case Scenario invented by Grand Marshal Alexander Norsoutha, the man who brought the Novayan Commonwealth to war against the Axis Powers. The Lifted Veil scenario has the Novayan Commonwealth being awakened from its isolation as a result of a nation sending a telegram, stating said nation's intentions of visiting Novaya, to the Foreign Affairs Department. You guys were the second bunch to have arrived here; the first bunch to have arrived at Morales International Airport were those from the Solisian Union," said the ForAffSec's assistant.

"And the reason no one fired a single bullet is because we Novayans responsibly owned and maintained our guns. We only use them if there were armed bad guys, like terrorists or criminals from foreign nations," said the ForAffSec assistant. "Anyways, about the Lifted Veil scenario, the Novayan government weren't in an uproar, but were in a state of shock when the Solisian government sent a TG to ForAffDep and later visited us. When the whole nation heard of this, everything just stopped, as if time outright stopped. The Novayan people, militaristic as they were, became curious about what's going on. Because we've been isolated for far too long, we have not experienced anything political during our long isolation."

"The Lifted Veil scenario has had an alternative name, the Broken Veil scenario. And where'd you get the idea of a war with Novaya? We Novayans only went to war against the Central Powers in WWI and the Axis in WWII. At least the Ottomans, and later the Turks and Ataturk, were kind enough to establish an independent Kurdish state as part of the Treaty of Ankara." Then the driver said, "Oi, now's not the time for politics!" The ForAffSec assistant shrugged and then said, "Politics aside, as for a war involving Novaya, contrary to everyone's belief, the Novayan Commonwealth isn't that much of a warmongering state, which Nazi Germany actually had become. Just because we adopted the Prussian military spirit DOES NOT MEAN we're warmongering bastards. The Prussian military spirit, actually, is far more moderate than the more extreme one that is the Nazi military spirit."

"Mind Mr. Jones talking politics, Americans; every Novayans had a huge tendency of talking politics. Even the Kurds aren't exceptions to that," said the limousine driver.

The Solisians could not believe their ears; These were people who joined in the world wars against the Central Powers and then against the Axis powers then suddenly vanished and went isolationist just as China, Japan and Korea did in their ancient histories?

The two Solisian visitors, the military officer and the government official, the ones who held the fate of the Union in their hands as much as they shared that power and shared that fate with the other presidents and generals, looked at each other again, purely indeed, out of surprise and genuine interest in what the Novayans had to show for themselves.

On the other hand, the Solisians who visited the once isolated state hoped that these people won't dare to lift too many fingers against the Union. It was invested in a few wars and in a few peaceful ventures outside itself, beyond their borders. To have to worry about a militaristic nation like this would mean tensions; That is what Solisia must avoid.

The Solisian president nodded to what they heard from the Novayans and she answered them, "I see. Then I guess we can all be glad that you have awoken. I pray that by awaking you, we did not give rise to a state that may..." She paused to put a few fingers on her chin, stroking it a little, "...cause me and my state reason for worry." She smiled then at them and said, "All in all, I do hope, strongly, sincerely, that the Union and your country may have good relations and, in brief turn, a chance for friendship for what is good for both of us."

"I'm glad you say that," Grand Marshal Borealis smiled. "Even though we Novayans are rather militaristic, we're not that troublesome; we only lift our fingers should any crossed any of the following: saying that the German Empire and Prussia deserved to be held responsible for such a war when, in reality, it's the Austrohungarian Empire that started the war in the first place, even if Otto von Bismarck is responsible for such war; blaming Prussia for World War II when it's the Nazis that caused the whole war and that the French's involvement in the Versailles Treaty is what caused the Nazis to rise in the first place also resulting to said war; attacking any of our allies, HAD we Novayans not go into isolation; doing discrimination and abuse or being abusive, racist and discriminate towards minority groups, like the Untouchables; and betraying a Novayan's trust and faith in those who betrays them."

"The latter two is justifiable, actually," said the armored limousine driver, "since us Novayans had been through a lot at the hands of the Spaniards. Those Spanish guys abused our land, resources and women, talked scheisse about us and calling us 'barbarians,' and dragging some of the most powerful Novayan families into siding with them. Needless to say, the Spanish abusers got what they deserved, and it is glorious." The driver then continued, "The Norsoutha and Tomoshima families, who came in 1888 before, led us into open revolt and brought us out of the Spanish abusers' control in May 11, 1891. After the Americans came, us Novayans hailed them as heroes and welcomed them into our open arms. Due to the Americans being different from the Spaniards, we permitted them to establish a protectorate provided that they agree to help the Norsoutha-Tomoshima military dictatorship build Novaya from the ground up."

"Okay, Alexander, you can stop the political talking right now," said Grand Marshal Borealis to the driver, Alexander. "Mind him for talking about us Novayans; it's a usual habit of us Novayans to get political or talk politics. But yeah, try not to cross any of those lines, for we Novayans tend to get mad; betraying us, however, made us incredibly mental about it. Unfortunately, because the Allies accidentally screwed their promises of resolving the Versailles Treaty issue and the revival of the German Empire, the Germany of today is nothing like what we envisioned: an army with a state and a federal parliamentary constitutional monarchy, with a military dictatorship being prepared in case of any armed attacks."

Realizing that he went a bit off topic, Grand Marshal Borealis spoke, "Oh, are you talking about Novaya and Solisia being friends?" He laughed. "Wow, I'm so dumb! About that, I don't mind if our nations be the best of buds, so long as you guys don't tick us off by crossing any of those lines." Pulling out his smartphone, Borealis said into it, "Dimitri Aleksandrovich Prokovski, send a message to our old friends at the Kingdom of Kurdistan, Duchy of Romagna and Transamur Republic and see if they'll join us. I hope they'll want to see us."

"Alright," said Fenella, "how it is that your country possesses colonies in Antarctica and on the Moon. That's rather awfy interesting."

The Solisians were even more surprised; they were also, perhaps, just perhaps, a little...interested, but not in the sense of curiosity, but in the sense of national security.
The general, for instance, thought of the Novayans, their nation especially, and their military, to be a liability; if they chose to, especially with the verbal conditions that this man expressed, and if they let their emotions get the better of them, then it might become a nightmare, a struggle for the Solisians to deal with.
The politician, for the record, felt that the Novayans should, and really should, be kept at some distance, even if they must become allies, for it seemed to the Solisian, even to her military companion, that these Novayans were...if they must make a comparison, like Italians.
And in the sense of Italians at war.
Nevertheless, that is something that they kept to themselves. And regardless of what they thought or felt, they would have to go through debate after debate after debate with the rest of the government, make proposals before the general staff and before the cabinet, brief their equals, and so many more tasks, as any ordinary official in a social democracy should do, to accomplish before something can be done about them. Unless, just unless, the major decisions were either passed by majority or by absolute support.
The politician just smiled and waited for the Novayan to finish speaking to his subordinate for the chance to say:
"Well, if it pleases you, we'd like to start moving along."

"Of course," replied Grand Marshal Borealis, who slouched in his seat before checking. "We'll be arriving at the People's Hall in 30 minutes, which is thirty minutes away. You can even find it there," said Grand Marshal Borealis, who points at the People's Palace. At the top of the dome is a statue of the Sovereign Eagle, the national animal of the Novayan Commonwealth, standing on top of a globe of the Earth. "We slowly and painstakingly built it after the Volkshalle and its associated structures in front of it. Here." He shows them on his smartphone the picture of the Volkshalle and said associated structures in front of it.

"It took more than 20 years to finish its construction. Anyways, for the associated structures, the Black Guard's HQ is situated at the left building here." Borealis points at the building in-between the People's Palace and the entrance and walls. "The Reichstag at the right of the open space that's in front of the People's Hall functions as my official residence, known as the Grand Marshal's Residence. Don't ask why we had to build another Reichstag, though," he said before pointing at one of the two Reichstags that's located at the right. "Finally, the actual Reichstag, where members of the Novayan National Parliamentary Assembly met, is just in front of the right wall here," Borealis said and shows them the pic and where the actual Reichstag was at. "That's the actual Reichstag, but with the Novayan banners; the Grand Marshal's Residence flew the flag and standard of the Norsoutha and Tomoshima families and my own flag and standard, which is a white flag with my personal emblem, a blue compass rose logo," Grand Marshal Borealis said and shows them that.

Folaisia wrote:"Interestin'," replied Fenella with a hint of radiant glee in her eyes, "and how is it that you're able to obtain the necessary technology to do it?"

"We colonized Antarctica in 1948 as part of Operation Songbird, like I said," said the civil servant. "But if you're asking how we're able to obtain the necessary technology to place eight colonies on the Moon, we just had to build rockets, which the Novayan government secretly signed contracts made by both the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and the Soviet space program, who provided us the means to launch rockets from the Mount Hope Space Center and the technology and blueprints needed to build modules, rockets and spacesuits necessary to construct colonies. That's something that kept the Novayans unaware. Anyways, we launched in 1965 Odyssey-1, a rocket that carries a small space station, intended for tests on whether space stations should be used as space habitats. Odyssey-2, which was launched after Odyssey-1 was launched a year ago, was used for testing if space stations can function as supply space stations."

Taking a sip of water the civil servant continued, "We then launched our lunar module, the Zeus-1, to the Moon's earth-facing side. Two more, Zeus-2 and Zeus-3, were launched to the Moon, where Zeus-1 is located at. All three were unmanned and controlled by computer. By 1972, we sent construction equipment and materials to Sector Zeus, where the three Zeus modules were located and 150 kilometers east of Oceanus Procellarum, aka the Ocean of Storms and Gagarin Ocean, and 318 kilometers south-south-west of Mare Vaporum, or Sea of Vapours. At the same time, we launched a manned flight to Sector Zeus, where we began constructing the first building at Sector Zeus, which would be renamed New Sovereign. It's this year that several more modules were sent to the Moon, where we established Sectors Aleph, Char, Diamond, Atlas, Mund, Hellena, and Youth - four of which is located near Mares Nubium and Insularium and the last three near Mares Nectaris, Vaporum and Crisium. I'll show you a map of where the eight colonies' at later."

The civil servant then continued, "These eight sectors were designated in order for the next phase of Project Lunar Home: the delivery of men to the Moon, where they will begin construction of several buildings. Discussions between members of the government, Admiralty, High Command, General Staff, and the Grand Marshal soon led to the deployment of several more equipment and men to the Eight Sectors, where more buildings have been renovated and expanded; we used mining equipment and drilling jumbos to dig into the surface until, by 1987, boring equipment were brought in to build an underground city, starting at New Sovereign, formerly Sector Zeus, and later at the rest of the seven cities - they're respectively New Atlas, Antonia's Peak, New Crestfallen, Jackson's Holdings, Atlas-by-Mare, and Morales-by-Oceanus. These underground cities aren't like your futuristic underground cities in fiction."

He shows them a pic of an underground city. "The kind of underground city I'm referring to is this, especially the ones below it," the civil servent said before showing them a pic of what an underground city looks like and then showing them a pic of the underground commercial sector of New Sovereign, which can be found only small parts of the underground city. "The New Sovereign Military City Hall Complex had five levels: two surface levels and three subterranean levels." He then shows the 2nd surface level's floor plan on his phone."The surface buildings had airlock rooms, which act as entrances and exits to and from the lunar surface and the surface building interiors and underground cities. Even every entrances and exits had to be fitted with airlock rooms just to be on the safe side."

"Anyways, when the space shuttle is revealed, the Novayan government, once again, secretly signed contracts with NASA and the Soviet space program, which will help the Novayan Space Agency construct its own spacecraft. Through them, we were able to construct four space shuttles, the Bastion of Liberty, Fortress of Freedom, Sea of Peace, and the Storm of Loyalty. When the Challenger got whacked and trashed in 1986, the Novayan Space Agency had halted all flights and begun redesigning its space shuttles in order to prevent the same mistakes from happening again. Kerbal Space Program proved to be a huge catalyst for research and development of single-stage-to-orbit spaceplanes, and it caused the Novayan Space Agency and Novayan government to spend money and resources into that. In six months, a pilot project was started, and soon a few more spaceplanes were constructed. This permits the Novayan Commonwealth to transfer people, supplies, equipment and resources to and from Mount Hope and the Eight Colonies; the construction of a new spaceport within inland Antarctica near Antonia's Holding, the first Novayan colony turned city, helped in bringing supplies to and from the Eight Lunar Colonies."

The civil servant looked at the Folaisians and then said, "Did I talked too much?" Then he laughs, realizing that he talked too much.

One of the Solisians did not bother looking at the structures or the symbols; she had enough of that in the countries she visited in her life. The other one did the opposite.

Just as they were done with the last bit, the President shrugged it all off and told the Novayan, "Very impressive, Grand Marshal; I can see that your country is marvelous in its symbolism and its might. Yet, I must say that we did not come here for a tour. We came to meet you and your government and to see affairs important to both of us."

The general turned and observed her President speak.

She told the Marshal, "When do we begin our discussions?"

"Verstanden," replied Grand Marshal Borealis.

"So, what is it you want to discuss about? Government, politics, foreign relations, economy, military, or others?" he asked them, and pulls out a smartphone, upon which he tapped on an app called Knight Legacy, a Novayan mobile app game that is incredibly anime-ish. "Sorry, but I just downloaded Knight Legacy, Spirits and Knights, Frontline Project, Galaxy Campaign, and Tactics and Valor. They're my favorite app games," Borealis told them.

"Back to topic, what is it you really want to discuss, Solisians?""

"First thing we want: A non-aggression pact. We do not wish for hostilities to immediately develop between our two countries. Of course, it is something we ask of you if you are willing to accept only. The second thing we want: A chance for our two countries to talk about each other. We are strangers to each other and therefore, that demands that one must learn about the other and the other must learn about the one. While, of course, you have introduced yourself and your own nation to us, it is not enough to trust in introductions and first impressions so we are proposing that our nation and your nation each send a delegation to see the other's country for themselves." explained the President.

The general then said, "In addition, we wanted to talk about the status of your military. Solisia is concerned that your forces may pose a...concern to our forces present beyond our own borders. We hope that you will be able to inform your military that we are no threat and we wish that your military will respect that as we respect them."

"Hey, now," Grand Marshal Borealis spoke, "just because the Novayan Armed Forces is a concern to the Solisian Armed Forces doesn't mean your nation is a threat to us. Besides, we're actually itching for new friends and reunion with old friends and enemies-turned-buddies. As long as you don't betray us, y'all Solisians will be fine." Grand Marshal Borealis' tone sounds like he's actually more casual. "And if anyone DARE betray us, we'll make sure to exact vengeance upon those guys who DID betray any Novayans' friendship and trust," he added.

"You guys must have looked hotter than I imagined, the Grand Marshal joked. "That was a joke," he added in the same tone Commander Shepard from Mass Effect used. "Back to topic, a non-aggression pact is okay, so long as any backstabbings or betrayals will not be committed upon any Novayans. As for your idea of chance of our two nations talking to each other, I'll have the government draft up plans for this and the Department of Education to draw up plans for student exchange programs." Borealis then asked them, "Although... if I ask, do Solisian citizens have gun rights? Us Novayans, starting from age 15 or 16, are allowed to own guns so long as they own and maintain them responsibly. Yes, Novayan students get to buy or, by heritage, get guns."

The Solisians were pleased with the agreement; what they weren't pleased with was the obvious casual attitude this leader took towards it. But they didn't mind. What mattered was that this man was agreeing with them.

The next thing that came out of his mouth though surprised them. The President had to answer: "Solisians can have guns - they can possess one and use one if they have a reason to. Hunting, security, training, etc. Background checks are done thoroughly and former criminals are not allowed to possess firearms if and only if the appropriate official overseeing them during their post-criminal life recommended that they not be allowed to possess firearms and that recommendation by the said official was accepted by the local government."

"Wow," he muttered. "Well, we Novayans only permitted hunting seasons so long as rules are to be followed, especially when it comes to quotas. Guns used by Novayan students, police officers, civilians and military personnel were also used for training, but security is done only by police officers, military personnel and security guards. In fact, some Novayan students, police officers, civilians, military personnel, security guards, militiamen and even politicians participated in national airsoft tournaments. Criminals are not allowed, but criminals who grew a conscience - that is, realizing that what they're doing is ethically wrong and only does more harm than good and sought to redeem themselves - are permitted so long as they agreed not to kill anyone. I was among those who participated in the national airsoft tournaments."

"Sir," interrupted the driver, "we're arriving at the People's Hall." Grand Marshal Borealis nodded as the limousine approached the Volkshalle Complex. On the courtyard of the Volkshalle Complex, the Novayan Armed Forces Combined Music Bands (numbering about 100 band members) and the Black Guard Mass Band (numbering about 50 band members) were playing the Hymn of the New Society and the March of the Novayan Forces, the official music song of the Novayan Armed Forces. A Novayan honor guard member opened the limousine after the limousine parked near the Volkshalle. "This way, sirs, ma'ams," said the Novayan honor guard member as he and a Black Guardswoman lead the way for the Grand Marshal and Solisians. "Okay, try not to make a show, MKay?" said Grand Marshal Borealis to the Solisians before following the two military personnel.

After what feels like several hours of just riding around sightseeing Novaya's landmarks and people, Ju Wong is felt comforted only by the AC and upholstery of the escort vehicle he's riding in. The success of Trace is hinging upon what is evidently a non-threat to the United States. The good news is obvious enough, but the bad news is the lack of a threat, and ultimately the wasted time and resources of sending Ju Wong as an ambassador to eliminate a non-existent crisis. Once word gets out about this (and it inevitably will), he will have to seek out other methods for founding TRACE.

Looking outside the limo, and Ju Wong sees several citizens carrying Novayan flags, guns, and wearing uniforms that screams of nationalism. Hefty research over the years into Novayans has only given the monastery several more questions regarding the Novayan obsession with nationalist symbolism and military jingoism. Most recently they've settled on the simple conclusion that Novaya is "simply weird."

"Are we getting any closer to our destination? Or am I just going back to the airport seeing as my presence isn't even required?" It is clear Ju Wong is not at all pleased with the German symbolism on display throughout the crowd of Novayans. This isn't entirely surprising, given Ju Wong's political background and heavily anti-Nazi rhetoric. In fact it is more surprising he even managed to convince the US President to send him over as an ambassador. Regardless, Ju Wong clearly has no purpose for being here outside of eliminating the already non-existent threat Novaya poses against the USA. Either he will have to stay and try giving Novayan culture another chance or simply leave the state.

Or they could always just kill him, and possibly the monastery members on board the plane. The Novayans don't know much about the monastery, save for their pre-disposed disapproval of Novaya and the fact they are willing to expend even Ju Wong himself. It might even nip a future problem for Novaya in the bud.
