Airship Pirates! (Sign-up/Interest Thread)

You might have to right click + "View Image" if your monitor is kind of small like mine. I also forgot to mark Quesani as the capital of Dehui and "Beteurg" is a typo -- should be "Beteurge."

Other notes: Port Vetreni is the RAS' main base of operations and the Confederacy's base is hidden on the south face of Mt. Gaelb (but you wouldn't know that unless you're already a part of the Confederacy). Generally, the RAS really only has control of the area north of and including the Naquit-Medo Line, while the cities south of that (including the capital, Quesani) are more pirate-friendly.

A Few of the Airships in Dehui

So here's my idea so far: Errol Allan is the corrupt governor of the island of Dehui, Fanaglia's one remaining colony. He has become notorious for allowing rampant piracy to occur within his jurisdiction in exchange for a cut of the loot. However, when he comes under investigation by the crown, he begins to crack down on the pirates. The pirates understandably don't take too kindly to this and after numerous threats and attempts on his life, he attempts to convince the crown to instate Dehui as a Fanaglian duchy so that he can abdicate his position under somewhat less suspicious circumstances.

A confederacy of pirate rebels led by Jacqueline Beaumont, the self-proclaimed pirate queen of Dehui, rises up to oppose Fanaglian rule. Governor Allan is assassinated, and a "peacemaking" task force led by Admiral Jonathan Voss of the Royal Air Service is dispatched to the island.

As clashes with the RAS become more common and more violent, Captain Beaumont must try to recruit average citizens and mercenary pirates from all over Dehui to join her cause.




Now, keep in mind this is a Past-Tech RP; Fanaglia is a steampunk nation set in 1883 and for the most part, we're pretty much on par with the US, UK, France, and the German Empire of the same time as far as tech goes. The notable exception, of course, is airship technology. Imagine the structural innovations of the Zeppelins in the 1930s, but driven instead by either steam, sail, or manpower.

I'm open to any suggestions/input anyone has :)

Short Bio: He was born the son of an Arvirar fisherman in 1829. When DiMarco united the Five Kingdoms in 1842, the young, idealistic Jon Voss had high hopes and couldn't wait until he could enlist in DiMarco's navy as soon as he was 16. He gradually worked his way up through the ranks until, in 1860, he was made a captain of the new Royal Air Service. As he was rarely not among the wealthy of Fanaglia, he never saw the destitution that evidenced DiMarco's abandoning of the promises he had made when he came into power. As dissent grew within the kingdom, he was inducted into the newly-created Secret du Roi and oversaw the operations in the Dehui colony. It is here that he finally became aware of the citizens' plight and began to sympathize with them. After kidnapping and torturing to death a fleeing merchant couple, he renounced his allegiance to King DiMarco and joined Autumn's resistance, who made him a commodore of the RAS once the war was won. Voss was promoted to admiral after the death of Adm. Dario Badoglio on 28 December, 1882.

Short Bio: She was born the daughter of a wealthy Cadwal merchant in 1852. When the war broke out in 1872, she left against her parents' wishes to join the resistance in Pisiano led by Princess Autumn. Shortly after arriving in Pisiano, she received word that her parents had fled to Dehui, wanted by King DiMarco's Secret du Roi. Rushing to the then-obscure island colony, she discovered her father's dirigible moored in Quesani, but no trace of her family. After the war ended, she remained in Dehui, searching out any former members of DiMarco's Secret du Roi, to make them pay. Her search led her to the dark underbelly of Dehui's criminal world, where she made her way as a mercenary and pirate. Her growing reputation as a feared pirate of the skies together with her wealthy background left her in a position to bargain with Governor Allan, which in turn gave her a great amount of power, which she used to declare herself the "Pirate Queen of Dehui." She never did track down the Secret du Roi, however, and her quest for vengeance still lingers in the back of her mind.

Airship: Scheherazade's personally designed, heavily experimental airship, the Tau Emerald Mk.II, is a marvel of engineering that combines steam-engine power, wind sails, and a protected gas envelope in it's belly. Only requiring a single person to pilot it, the Tau Emerald has a hard wooden under-hull containing it's envelope and a trio of sails for extra maneuverability. Twin steam-powered propellers give it impressive speed for a modern airship. It is weaponless except for a large bow-pointing swivel blade that can be adjusted below the hull for skimming attacks. Shaz has developed the dangerous tactic of pointing the blade forward and, after retracting all sails and wings, going straight down and through the gas envelopes of other airships in a daredevil dive. The Tau Emerald is primarily a boarding vessel, with enough space for seven.

Short Bio: A Dehui orphan who fell into hard times during the Fanaglian occupancy, Shaz eventually found herself in a band of resistance fighters. Because of her unique skills as a mechanic, she was assigned to the rebellion's tiny airship division; eventually, she designed her own experimental combat airship, and has used it ever since. Known as a crack flying ace, Shaz allied herself with Jacqueline Beaumont some time ago, and has been a great asset to the Queen of Dehui ever since. Unusually, she carries no weapons, and instead practices a custom amalgamation of martial arts called Panzer Kunst.

Short Bio: A descendant of the famous Pirate Lord Jean Lafitte in Maurepas, Lafitte was a navigator on the Pirate vessel La Petit Moore, out of his forefathers' home-waters in Barataria Bay for the Guilds of New Orleans crime syndicate. However, when Piracy threatened the Guilds' export shipping market, the Guild leaders decided it was time to crack down on Pirate activity in the Bay. Lafitte and the others fought to the last to defend their turf, but, were overwhelmed by the might of the Guilds, and those who were not killed were imprisoned. Having amassed some wealth aboard the Moore, Lafitte bribed the guards of his prison cell,allowing him to escape. Knowing his days in Maurepas were numbered, Lafitte set his sights on more Pirate-Friendly waters. Hearing of the burgeoning Airship piracy market in Fanaglia, Lafitte heads for the island of Dehui, and purchases his own Airship, La Danse Calinda, named for his favoured prostitute back in New Orleans, and recruited a crew. When the Government of Fanaglia turns against the Airship Pirates, Lafitte instinctively knows whats coming next, and offers his services to the Pirate Queen Jacqueline Beaumont in repelling the RAS...

Name: Isabella Alicia da Vilardino

Short Bio: The Marchesa da Vilardino was born in the Sugaran capital roughly 40 years ago. Her mother was the Marchesa da Vilardino, of noble descent but fallen from grace. Her father? Quite possibly a house-servant from across the civilised border. Because of her mixed pedigree (un-influential nobility and unknown father), a career in the Sugaran Senate was unthinkable. So instead, Isabella made career in the Senata's largest rival, the Duralumin Delving Corp, where she started, after her mother's death, as regional administrator for a backward settlement of Sugara.

Through diplomacy and treachery, she managed to add quite a lot of extra, previously barbaric, territory to the D.D.C.'s sphere of influence and thus to the Republic of Sugara, who was heavily dependant on the corporation. Today, she is the head of the Sugaran Duralumin Delving Corporation, seated in the Capital. After making contact with another nation with roughly equal technology (a shock to Sugara, as they previously only encounter barbarian states), Isabella set with a crew of mechanics in order to establish trade contacts and knowledge exchance. Obviously, only when in favour of the DDC. Recently their Airship landed in the ports of Dehui, discovering another ST nation with a precarious political situation that just asks to be taken advantage of.

Name: Reede Contalio

Short Bio: Born in an 'Barbarian nation' which was, at least 34 years ago, just outside of Sugara. Went looking for work in the Sugaran capital. Worked in the heavier sectors of the melting ovens, but attracted attention due to his talent for melting the right alloys. Probably the only reason he, as a foreigner, managed to get somewhere in the Sugaran capital. Got promoted to head mechanic in one of the 18 sectors of the capital, and later re-assigned to assistant mechanic in the engineering-designing bureau of the DDC. He was also chosen as one of the mechanics send abroad in a knowledge-exchange, and has now temporarely made port in Dehui.

Name: Matthew "The Monkey" Blain

Short Bio: After his parents died when he was five, Matthew grew up as an orphan in the worst districts of Quesani. He quickly had to learn how to survive on his own and proved to be quite clever and flexible as well as fast and dexterous. In the following years he had managed to build up a gang of children, most of them orphans, under his command, who had specialised in theft and burglary. Matthew himself discovered that he was a very skilled at climbing, which was useful amongst the burglars.
At the age of 15, Matthew was picked up from the streets by recruiters of the RAS and forced into service. At first he was a ship's boy, then was trained to become a full airman. As he had a problem with authorities, he was in constant conflict with the officers and was in the brig more than once in those years. Turning 18, he couldn't stand it much longer and deserted during a stay on Dehui. He hid by some old friends and then joined a pirate crew, where his skills as a sailor of the skies were needed.
Even though he has never shown the will to become more than a simple sailor and pirate, he has made himself quite a name. He has gained the nickname "monkey" for his climbing skills when he once climbed the outside of an airship's hull to repair a leak mid-air. He also has invented his own style to board a Zeppelin using his self-made crossbow.
Appearance: Matthew Blain is relatively small (around 1.6m), but his years on the road and in the military have made him strong and even more so have given him endurance, both facts reflected in his stature. He usually wears plain, functional clothes with leather boots. In battle, he wears a red bandanna to tame his brown, shoulder-length hair. In reminiscence of the pirates of the old days, he has a big golden earring in his left earlobe.

Short Bio: Joined the military out of high school, shown distaste for authority, has been commonly reprimanded for insubordination, however he was never kept out of the action for long, his skills proved too valuable. His past before the army is unknown as he doesn't like to talk about it. He eventually quit the 2PIF (2nd PLT Invasion Force) and became a member of a guild of assassins. He showed more skill than his brothers and he was Favored by the leader of the guild. After a tough job in the nation of Picklepoo, he decided to do some freelance work. He heard of the disturbance in Dehui and rushed there. He is insensitive, sarcastic, and supercilious.

Short Bio: Talon appears to have no morals, fighting for and killing who ever he is paid for, However, he actually lives by a very strict moral code which cane lead some to interpret his personality as moralistic, upright and overly rigid, his loyalty is to his employer, however, he is known to form close bonds with those who prove themselves worthy of his trust.

Allegiance: Mercenary, but is secretly an operative for the Morridane intelligence services ala 'the Royal Reconnaissance Service'.
Relevant Skills: Stealth, thieving and mechanical.
Weapon(s) of Choice: Morridane Repeating Long Rifle (6-round, lever-action revolver), Bowie Knife & Monkey Wrench plus whatever tool happens to be within arms' reach.
Short Bio: A young, skilled mechanic and self-styled inventor of Morridane origins who runs a small workshop and is said to be working on a heavier-than-air flying machine. Not very good round people and can be seen as a little naive at times, but seems to be most happy when surrounded by the innards of some machine and elbow deep in engine oil. Isn't bothered with the law and will accept work from almost anyone, though it has to be strictly mechanically related. What very few people know is that she is actually an operative for the Morridane Royal Reconnaissnace Service gathering information and despatching a report once a month to keep her superiors informed on the latest happenings in Dehui.

Short Bio: Samuel is a young man, who joined the the merchant navy as a cabin boy in his early teens and has experience aboard both their sea-going fleet as well as their airships and has wound up in Fanaglia having managed to leave the service to find his fortune. He is more mature than a teenager but is still admittedly fairly young (meh, write what you know) but gained experience of the workings of clockwork mechanisms and steam engines in the navy. He also learned the art of trade and being naturally charismatic, is surprisingly able at talking his way out of situations. He learned woodwork as a child but prefers only to fall back on this skill when he needs to earn money and nothing is forthcoming. Samuel will need convincing before joining one side or another. He enters the fray unaligned and it is his dream to one day command his own airship, able to come and go wherever he wishes. As a result, he is somewhat actively looking for a place on the crew of an established ship.
I have yet to write a factbook about my nation, but in present day it's a recently freed colony of an as yet unnamed Empire (though each character so far has had strong Celtic, specifically Scottish, roots so at the moment, it's definitely something akin to the British Empire in terms of its being European in origin. Gratikistan herself is also strongly influenced by native Polynesian culture. I thought it would be fun, and also more compatible with an RP occurring within Fanaglia's boundaries, to have my character as being of a Gratikistan contemporary to Fanaglia, and therefore still part of the Empire.

Short Bio: Born May 27, 1847, to Uhlanders from the barrowdowns of Kuligan, Rumey attended the Friesack Aviation Military Academy from 1860-1865. Whilst he was there, his entire family perished in an unfortunate city-block fire. Graduating with honors, he was trained to be an able crewman aboard middle-grade standard variants of Tagan airships, A through K-class. After spending a time in the air corps, he was discharged and started his own mechanical business- which unfortunately failed after a few months due to grandiose designs and invention ideas, not to say none of them were implemented. After his company was dissolved, he gathered up the remaining few inventions he had created that he could (a couple of variants of guns, a sword bayonet, and some tools) and set out on a tour of the world. He traveled with mercenary groups over the course of 22 years and several old friends from his business, eventually putting his services out for hire on the market after all his acquaintances either were killed, deserted, or went missing. He seeks to fly aboard an airship and be its chief engineer, not command one himself. He seeks friendship and comradery amongst his allies and loves it all the more when it relates to flying. While he's not much for close fighting, he can shoot accurately enough and is skilled when it comes to technology.

Name: Captain Lloret de Mar, the "Baron of Costa Brava"

Short Bio:
Captain Lloret de Mar, the "Baron of Costa Brava", was one of the most terrifying pirates under the contract of Duchy of Catalunya. He was rumored to torture hundreds of people with the garrote. He was a complete Catalunya nationalist who believed in the superiority of the Catalan speaking people. His insane goal was to kill all the "inferior" ethnolinguistic clans of Zeppy.

Before he could do that, he lead a coup d'etat against the Duke of Catalunya, which horribly failed and cost him his wife, his official title as the "Baron of Costa Brava" (yet he still calls himself that), his loyalty to the Catalunya Clan and his left leg. Many say after this event, he declared war on Catalunya and on Victor Zepatoro de Osborne, the King of Zeppy and the former Duke of Catalunya, who killed and raped his wife and cut his left leg off with a rusty sickle.

He has come to this organization with the motivations to complete his revenge but is currently, as King Zepatoro de Osborne said, "whoring himself to the Jews and other homosexual foreigners."

Short Bio: Khelgar was born into a life of privilege. The son of an Athenian diplomat, he spent a good portion of his early life traveling between the various citystates that comprise the Parthenese Confederation. As a result of these boyhood travels and his family's prominence in society, he developed a broad network of powerful friends spanning the globe. While he had every intention of following in his father's footsteps and becoming a diplomat, he soon came to realize that he could generate a fortune through facilitating trade between his various contacts in the wold. By his fortieth birthday, Khelgar had solidified a vast trade empire and had amassed fortune and power that rivaled even that of the various families of Parthenese royalty. Sensing this, the only son of Emperor Constantine Valtreck and heir to the crown, Lord Dentene Valtreck, launched a covert war against Khelgar's operations without his father's permission. Seeing the potential for profit in the untapped markets of the outer colonies and fearing for his own safety within Parthenese lands, Khelgar has arrived in Dehui on a small 1A Class Armored Freighter with a crew of his most trusted companions and a hull loaded with cutting edge weaponry, ammunition, and luxury housewares.

Short Bio: Born into the Herminian Aristocracy, Maulitz served 6 years as a Cavalryman, before he retired and decided to become a mercenary overseas. Eventually, he heard of what was going on Dehui, so he boarded a ship that took him to the island, and he seeks to make his mark.

Rushing to the then-obscure island colony, she discovered her father's dirigible moored in Quesani, but no trace of her family. After the war ended, she remained in Dehui, searching out any former members of DiMarco's Secret du Roi, to make them pay. Her search led her to the dark underbelly of Dehui's criminal world, where she made her way as a mercenary and pirate. Her growing reputation as a feared pirate of the skies together with her wealthy background left her in a position to bargain with Governor Allan, which in turn gave her a great amount of power, which she used to declare herself the "Pirate Queen of Dehui." She never did track down the Secret du Roi, however, and her quest for vengeance still lingers in the back of her mind.

When DiMarco united the Five Kingdoms in 1842, the young, idealistic Jon Voss had high hopes and couldn't wait until he could enlist in DiMarco's navy as soon as he was 16. He gradually worked his way up through the ranks until, in 1860, he was made a captain of the new Royal Air Service. As he was rarely not among the wealthy of Fanaglia, he never saw the destitution that evidenced DiMarco's abandoning of the promises he had made when he came into power. As dissent grew within the kingdom, he was inducted into the newly-created Secret du Roi and oversaw the operations in the Dehui colony. It is here that he finally became aware of the citizens' plight and began to sympathize with them. After kidnapping and torturing to death a fleeing merchant couple, he renounced his allegiance to King DiMarco and joined Autumn's resistance, who made him a commodore of the RAS once the war was won. Voss was promoted to admiral after the death of Adm. Dario Badoglio on 28 December, 1882.

Well, you've already let a heavily armed MT Krem into Fangalia, but I dunno if that'll fly for this RP, considering the differences in tech level. However, if you'll allow it, I think Mr. Fedett could return to Fangalia. If his MT kit is too advanced, we can negotiate to an agreement, I'm sure.

That's fine to bring him back, but I'd really prefer if he had more historically-accurate equipment. It's fine in the Mont Rouge thread, but I wouldn't want him to have too unfair an advantage in a military conflict.

Would a typical bolt-action rifle be acceptable? From what I read in your national newspaper, that seems like it would be within the realm of acceptability. If not, I'll just borrow one from one of your armories.

Bolt-action is fine, but lever-action would have been more common at the time -- just something to keep in mind. You can feel free to pick any gun that existed IRL at the time, anything from my armory catalogue (there are a few weapons I've posted before and after the ones mentioned in the paper), or you can propose a weapon of your own invention if you run it by me first. All the firearms currently in use by the Fanaglian armed forces are listed in my oh-so-very-disorganized factbook here.

Known as a crack flying ace, Shaz allied herself with Jacqueline Beaumont some time ago, and has been a great asset to the Queen of Dehui ever since. Unusually, she carries no weapons, and instead practices a custom amalgamation of martial arts called Panzer Kunst.
Airship
Scheherazade's personally designed, heavily experimental airship, the Tau Emerald Mk.II, is a marvel of engineering that combines steam-engine power, wind sails, and a protected gas envelope in it's belly. Only requiring a single person to pilot it, the Tau Emerald has a hard wooden under-hull containing it's envelope and a trio of sails for extra maneuverability. Twin steam-powered propellers give it impressive speed for a modern airship. It is weaponless except for a large bow-pointing swivel blade that can be adjusted below the hull for skimming attacks. Shaz has developed the dangerous tactic of pointing the blade forward and, after retracting all sails and wings, going straight down and through the gas envelopes of other airships in a daredevil dive. The Tau Emerald is primarily a boarding vessel, with enough space for seven.

Lafitte and the others fought to the last to defend their turf, but, were overwhelmed by the might of the Guilds, and those who were not killed were imprisoned. Having amassed some wealth aboard the Moore, Lafitte bribed the guards of his prison cell,allowing him to escape. Knowing his days in Maurepas were numbered, Lafitte set his sights on more Pirate-Friendly waters. Hearing of the burgeoning Airship piracy market in Fanaglia, Lafitte heads for the island of Dehui, and purchases his own Airship, La Danse Calinda, named for his favoured prostitute back in New Orleans, and recruited a crew. When the Government of Fanaglia turns against the Airship Pirates, Lafitte instinctively knows whats coming next, and offers his services to the Pirate Queen Jacqueline Beaumont in repelling the RAS...

The 1892 is a bit too new (won't be released for another 9 years). I would be fine if you went with the 1873 ("the gun that won the West"), though, or the 1876 Centennial if you prefer a larger caliber. The '76 was available in several calibers, including the .50-95 Express, which was the preferred caliber of buffalo hunters. I would have no problem with you using custom-shortened versions of either of these rifles if you'd like.

I really like your character, btw, but blunderbusses were pretty much obsolete by 1883. I'm not saying he can't have one, if you have some reason for it, but they had shotguns by the Civil War (single- and double-barrel). The 1855 Colt Revolving Rifle was also available as a .410 bore shotgun (held seven shells), if you want a repeater. You can also feel free to use the Tagan-12 Model 1883 -- one of my own design based loosely on the Colt 1855, but a 12-gauge (five shells).

Question! How exactly does one fight from an airship? Boarding and killing on the enemy ship, dogfight-esque air battles, or something else I'm not thinking of?

EDIT: Fangalia and I have reached an agreement regarding weaponry for Mr. Fedett and the Kremistani army at this time period.



Based off the Krag-Jørgensen rifle, the KIDI-BAR III (Kremistani Defense Initiative Bolt Action Rifle, Third Model), a .308 Win. Bolt action rifle is the latest innovation by the Initiative. A seven round magazine is inserted directly into the action of the weapon, allowing for increased ease of operation and faster reloading. If an infantryman should use up his magazines, bullets may be inserted manually one at a time into the breech. Weighing in at a total of twenty-four pounds, the weapon is rugged and has been weighted for both medium-long range accuracy and close quarters engagement, with a ring socket for a soldier's knife at the muzzle end of the weapon.

The BAR III is designed around a newly researched set of principles. First, the box magazine. Second, the bolt action is derived from the philosophy that a soldier will take more time to aim for a lethal shot if they need to spend slightly more time in between shots. This also prevents recoil from spoiling the next shot and promotes the conservation of ammunition. Finally, the (relatively) smaller caliber was derived from a series of experiments that showed how a smaller, faster bullet had greater penetrating capabilities than a large, slow round. Wether these new ideas will succeed or not has yet to be seen, as there is controversy as to wether or not the Initiative should have looked into obtaining plans for Fangalian-stlye repeaters.

This weapon is available for export.

Good question! Airships by nature are relatively lightly armed (for weight and stability reasons, as well as safety in many cases), so in ship-to-ship combat, boarding and fighting man-to-man is the most common practice, though many pirates have become notorious for aerial tactics meant to steer RAS ships into the ocean or other obstacles, disabling or destroying them. One could, of course, fire on the enemy ship's envelope, which would most likely bring the whole ship down in a fiery ball. Not only is this sort of carnage considered "improper," but a waste of a perfectly good ship, as well as its supplies. Plus, once one fires upon an enemy ship, it becomes an invitation for others to fire upon you. Therefore, this is generally only resorted to in an emergency. If such an engagement were to occur, it would be primarily by small arms fire, since very few airships are actually armed with cannons.

Notable exceptions are the flying monitors. Flying monitors are unusual in that the envelope is actually three independently-insulated pontoons and the fabric is an experimental canvas made of dense hemp fiber woven together with relatively flexible strands of brass. This top-secret and flame-resistant material acts as a very light armor and, more importantly, the tri-pontooned design prevents a catastrophic envelope collapse in the event of a breach or, God forbid, a fire. With less to fear from enemy fire, flying monitors are often fitted with small cannons, which are generally reserved to be used only as a bargaining tool, for few are brave or foolish enough to face them.

There are several classes of airships and balloons, which I will describe in more detail later. Hope that answers your questions for now. :)

Greg is from 1883, it's too much of a pain to have conflicting time periods.


And thanks for the tactics, now a few more questions.

-If an airship is shot from the ground, will that still change the ROE to allow any airships to be destroyed?
-In your mind, will this RP be predominantly air engagements, or will there be a land campaign as well?
-How are the people in the area responding to the escalation of conflict? Are they aiding pirates or RAS?
-Does the RAS have a foothold on the islands, or will allied forces need to fight for a beachhead?
-Is this a 'peacekeeping' or 'peacemaking' operation?


Hopefully I'm not making you think too much!

I was planning on incorporating a fondness for antique weapons into his character, to give him something unique, weapon-wise, although I do like your Gun model, :)

The 1892 is a bit too new (won't be released for another 9 years). I would be fine if you went with the 1873 ("the gun that won the West"), though, or the 1876 Centennial if you prefer a larger caliber. The '76 was available in several calibers, including the .50-95 Express, which was the preferred caliber of buffalo hunters. I would have no problem with you using custom-shortened versions of either of these rifles if you'd like.

Right, I'll go with the 1876 instead, same length, which would presumably increase power whilst sacrificing range and accuracy?

1870. 5 years later, he heard that the Pirate captain Kapitan Lasko's crew. He stayed for 3 years before he was injured in a fight with the navy, and left to form his own crew on an airship. His crew of about 12 quickly became feared throught Polska. He had a large bounty on his head, near 500,000, so he left. He saw that his form of Piracy was burgeoining Fanaglia's island of Dehui, and set out for the island.

Short Bio: The Marchesa da Vilardino was born in the Sugaran capital roughly 40 years ago. Her mother was the Marchesa da Vilardino, of noble descent but fallen from grace. Her father? Quite possibly a house-servant from across the civilised border. Because of her mixed pedigree (un-influential nobility and unknown father), a career in the Sugaran Senate was unthinkable. So instead, Isabella made career in the Senata's largest rival, the Duralumin Delving Corp, where she started, after her mother's death, as regional administrator for a backward settlement of Sugara.

Through diplomacy and treachery, she managed to add quite a lot of extra, previously barbaric, territory to the D.D.C.'s sphere of influence and thus to the Republic of Sugara, who was heavily dependant on the corporation. Today, she is the head of the Sugaran Duralumin Delving Corporation, seated in the Capital. After making contact with another nation with roughly equal technology (a shock to Sugara, as they previously only encounter barbarian states), Isabella set with a crew of mechanics in order to establish trade contacts and knowledge exchance. Obviously, only when in favour of the DDC. Recently their Airship landed in the ports of Dehui, discovering another ST nation with a precarious political situation that just asks to be taken advantage of.

Short Bio:
Born in an 'Barbarian nation' which was, at least 34 years ago, just outside of Sugara. Went looking for work in the Sugaran capital. Worked in the heavier sectors of the melting ovens, but attracted attention due to his talent for melting the right alloys. Probably the only reason he, as a foreigner, managed to get somewhere in the Sugaran capital. Got promoted to head mechanic in one of the 18 sectors of the capital, and later re-assigned to assistant mechanic in the engineering-designing bureau of the DDC. He was also chosen as one of the mechanics send abroad in a knowledge-exchange, and has now temporarely made port in Dehui.
