Congress Stagnates, Gadsen Gets His Way

Since Frederick Goering was sworn in to replace late Assemblyman Alf Hultzer, almost all congressional business has stagnated.While the progress Congress has been making (or lack thereof) has mainly been stopped as a result of Conservative obstruction, recent polls have revealed that President Calhouster and his Progressive agenda are being widely blamed for the recent gridlock out of Pelier.

When President Calhouster first took office, his approval numbers were historically bad despite his decent election win, then, as his Congress began passing more common-sense legislation after a while of passing mainly controversial social policies, his numbers began to rise, but ever since the ACP retook the Federal Assembly, Calhouster’s numbers have reset to levels much like his early days.

The ACP has been using its control of the upper legislative chamber to force compromise and water down whatever bits of liberal legislation the Progressives try to pass. Recently, as former Vice-President and current Majority Leader Harry Gadsen promised back when his party was in the minority, the Federal Assembly made compromises with the Progressive controlled National Chamber to rescind Anterican Secretary of State Malcolm Rockford’s notice that Anterican embassies could fly the Pride flag along side the Anterican flag. Known as the “Stars & Bars Act,” it passed narrowly and ensured that the Anterican flag would be the one and only flag flown at Anterican embassies, save for the flag of the host country. As the notice was made without legislation or presidential order, the law does not need authorization from President Calhouster to go into effect. Some on the left are saying that this subverts the will of the people, and are urging Calhouster to use an executive order to restore the notice and block the S&B Act, but Calhouster doesn’t seem to want to put himself into the middle of another culture war battle, especially with his unpopularity issue.

During the landing of 1st Stage Booster Zeta-5, a mechanical issue caused the booster to not fire its Engine Set on the primary part of the booster, causing damage to the Landing Struts and the Engines. After two SubOrbital Test Flights of Lunar Lander Psi-1 resulted in damage to the landing legs, the Shazbotdom Imperial Space Adminsitration is reworking the lander to come up with changes and is slated to attempt another SubOrbital Test Flight in June. The tenative date is currently set for the 14th of July, 2023. We are still, at this time, building pieces for Psi-2, Psi-3 and Psi-4, but will not fully assemble them until the design for the Lunar Lander is Finalized.

Calhouster’s LGBT+ Support Continues

When Konstantin Calhouster first took office about a year ago, he immediately took action to support Anterica’s historically repressed LGBT+ community. He famously repealed Executive Order #1993, was a vocal supporter of the Nacradian leader’s decision to come out, and appointed the first openly gay Supreme Court Justice: Brian Williams.

Some on the right (and within his own party) hoped that he would not be so vocally supportive, since his administration came under fire last year. Still, Calhouster has shown his support is unwavering, and he, alongside Ray Armond and other APP leaders, announced a bill to make Pride Month an official holiday. It’s unclear if the bill will even pass, considering his party’s own reluctance to fully throw its support behind the LGBT+ community.

Progressive Disunity Sinks Addition of
Pride Month to Calendars

In a mostly symbolic blow to Konstantin Calhouster, the highly controversial bill to make Pride Month an officially observed holiday has failed. The bill’s undoing came after Ray Armond, Speaker and Majority Leader of the National Chamber announced he would be rescinding his support of the bill, soon after, other moderate members of the APP announced they too wouldn’t support the measure, and when it was held to a vote, it was defeated 137-113-20 (20 APP members of the national chamber abstained).

Many see this as a major Conservative victory in the ongoing struggle between Congress (although only the Federal Assembly is controlled by the ACP) and President Calhouster. Harry J. Gadsen, Majority Leader of the Federal Assembly, stated that he was “thrilled about how we managed to stop yet another case of liberal overreach in its tracks.”

It’s truly disheartening to both myself and the LGBT+ community to see that Congress has deemed them unworthy of recognition. I am disappointed with the members of my own party who either voted to strike down this act of inclusion, and those who decided they would be bystanders in the face of this bigotry. I’m also disappointed with the ACP, whose thinly veiled dog-whistles during this whole ordeal against the LGBT+ community prove that they are still the party of Burkley-esque homophobia and oppression.

@POTFA I hate to be the bearer of bad news (just kidding I love to be when it comes to you ), but just because you didn’t get your way doesn’t mean you can accuse everyone who disagreed with you of being homophobic and bigoted. You call their votes unfair, but labeling them because of how they felt is just as unfair. Be mature about this, don’t run online and scold them, maybe push a more agreeable agenda that all Antericans can get onboard with… maybe this is why your approval ratings are even lower than when you were sworn in. (I would also like to point out that Ryan Burkley is often rated as the second most popular president in our history, so great going tying the ACP to its biggest figurehead)

I implore foreign embassies in the Empire of Greater Nifon not to fly the rainbow flag.

Each nation is free to rule itself by it's own laws. The Empire of Greater Nifon considers the LGBT lobby to be a dangerous, foreign and subversive element that is completely un-Nifonese. Thus, flying the 6-colored rainbow lfag or proclaiming public support for homosexuality in the Empire of Greater Nifon is considered a criminal offense, punished by prison, caning and loss of social credit.

Article 41 Paragraph 1 of the Vienna Convention states that "1. Without prejudice to their privileges and immunities, it is the duty of all persons enjoying such privileges and immunities to respect the laws and regulations of the receiving State. They also have a duty not to interfere in the internal affairs of that State." Thus, any activity by foreign embassies to promote the ideology of "LGBT rights" will be seen as contrary to the laws of the Empire of Greater Nifon, and will result in a swift expulsion of said diplomatic mission.

Let pride month be celebrated where people want it to be celebrated. Nifon is not that place, and everyone has to respect that!

The Supreme Court Deals a Stunning Blow

In a stunning blow to Konstantin Calhouster and the LGBT+ community, Anterica’s Supreme Court ruled 5-4 in Calhouster vs. the State of Caron that Caron’s 1985 ban on same-sex marriage, which was triggered immediately after President Calhouster repealed Executive Order #1993, was fully legal due to the lack of federal-level legislation surrounding same-sex marriage following the repeal. The decision also clears the way for any state to place its own ban on same-sex marriage. The five concurring justices were Chief Justice Tyler Petroni, as well as Justices Gwen Kolman, Alexis Bello, John Gulligher, and Arthur Porter. The four dissenters were Justices Taylor Jenkins-Woodrow, Brian Williams, Diane Stewart, and Joseph Rockford.

The decision was not a partisan-line ruling, with two Conservative-appointed justices, Stewart and Rockford, joining both Liberal-appointed justices, Jenkins-Woodrow and Williams, in dissent. Meanwhile, all other Conservative-appointed all ruled in favor of Caron.

Last year, after President Calhouster (in)famously suspended the discriminatory Executive Order #1993, which outlawed same-sex marriage, Caron’s statewide ban on same-sex marriage, signed in 1985 by former-Governor John Bell Huey, was put back into effect by the state’s current Governor, Kerry Anne Huey, the grand-daughter of John. The Calhouster administration sued the State of Caron about a month later, accusing them of using discriminatory policies against a minority group. However, with no legislation protecting same-sex marriage either, the majority opinion, written by Supreme Justice Tyler Petroni, cited this fact as reason as to why Caron’s ban was perfectly legal. Brian Williams, the Supreme Court’s most recent appointment, as well as the first openly-gay Justice, wrote the major dissenting opinion, he stated that “allowing states to pursue [bans on same-sex marriage] creates a dangerous precedent of allowing for the government, whether local, state, or federal, to go after the rights of its most under-privileged citizens.” And that in the future, “it should be a priority of the federal government to ensure the rights of its LGBT+ citizens to prevent these scenarios, which strip away their rights, from continuing to happen.”

Many ask what kind of economic model the Empire of Greater Nifon aims for? I will say that the Empire of Greater Nifon should aim for a rational economic model, that is undilluted by neo-gnostics, who turn economics into an eschatological religion.

A perfect example of this comes from various gaijin nations where "business" has turned into a dirty world. There is no portrayal of businessman as anything but greedy, evil monster whose sole intent is to profit at cost of everyone else. Those nations are destroying the economy by excessive regulations, high taxation, minimum wage laws, affirmative action and other mad policies, etc. The effects of those policies are something we can already observe right now. Various foreign companies prefer to move to Nifon, because on our effective market they can easily profit, instead of having to worry about hiring 10 blacks, women, okama, etc. We do not burden their companies with minimum wage laws that fore them to cut workfore and employment time; and our tax system is simple and efficient.

On the other hand we have people who refuse to see that economy can only tell you how to efficiently manage resources - not how to manage them in a moral manner. As such, they allow for all sort of excesses by the companies, blinded in faith in a "rational egoist", who inreality cares about nothing but his own profit.

As an answer, the Imperial Reference Party has developed a set of policies to ensure prosperity of all Nifonese citizens.

The role of Nifonese state should be above all, regulatory rather than interventional (albeit government intervention is at times necessary). The state should provide a strong framework and guard the competition, breaking monopolies and safekeeping interests of the consumers. It should fight abuses of the market while preserving private property and defending the Nifonese companies from unfair foreign competitors. Without strong state - there is no strong market.

This is the policy we want to see realized.
