Hey all, I'm back! Long story short, for those who didn't know already, back in March, during the Spring Festival celebrations, us Caellians traditionally choose a habit that we are not proud of and vow to not do it again until today, the start of the Summer Celebration. If we are successful, the hope is that we will find happiness and be more at peace with ourselves, and as a result, please our God, who only wishes the best for all of us. Recent events made me question how certain leaders are using social media, and would wander the palace halls, complaining out loud about the irresponsible overuse and the damage it does to their nations. My uncle laughed at me when he witnessed this and helpfully pointed out to me that I've already earned myself the nickname of "The Twitter Monarch" here in Ru, and that alot of the behavior I was railing against was stuff I could easily be accused of as well. He only meant it as a silly joke to tease me, but it did inspire me to try and lead by example, so for my Spring Pledge I decided to give up social media.

As you can tell from my logs I've succeeded! And while obviously it's not going to lead to me continuing to stay away, I can honestly say I didn't particularly miss it. I was definitely more relaxed, and had much more time to dedicate to more important matters, like learning how to lead this nation. (and my videogames, ofc! I'm only mortal! haha.) I will still make great use of this site, and all the others since it's a very useful tool to communicate and connect with all of you, but I think this time has taught me how to stop making it one of my personal obsessions. I don't need to inflict my every thought and impulse on the people of Ru. Hopefully this can inspire people to work on a more healthy relationship with these sites and to try and act more responsible, especially those who have been put, either by choice or by duty, into my position.

Argh, wait, what was I going on here to post? Oh yeah! It's the Summer Celebration! Hope all you Ruvians and Caellians are having the best night ever! I'm at the Great Pyramid in Old Ru right now, and this year I will stay UP! No we're not staying in the city rather a B&B resort on Malgranda Insulo. Tsu-chan and I thought it was kind of quaint and be almost like going native. Maybe you can come say hi seeing as we're so close based on your location? A native guide would be so fun to have around to show us everything. Aww wish I could. I got my own job here during my winter break. I think I know the resort you're talking about. Very rustic and charming, very popular among tourists. Though my grandpa wouldn't agree, he finds it a cheap sub for the experience of 'Old Mazomba' whatever that means. But don't worry, Malgranda Insulo is just as it sounds, tiny! You can traverse the whole island in a day but there's things to do. The Sunplena Aviario has many of the nicest birds from around the islands. Guarantee, nothing what you've seen up in Amaterasu!

My team and I were running some nighttime frog call surveys out in Parc National Les Allemas and I came across this guy hunting moths on a Cecropia tree. Its a Fire-Crested Gecko; a species indigenous to medium altitude regions of the far eastern slope of the Sierra Polaches in Inyursta and Cuscatlan! Very uncommon find, and very unique primary predator!

I did it! Finally! Made it till sunrise on the Summer Celebration for the first time, instead of falling asleep like a little kid. I guess I'm growing up after all! Here's to all the other kids fighting to stay up during the celebration. Anyone make it through their first one with me?

Hope you all are proud of me! I know this is a pretty minor thing, but I always want to make the people of Ru proud in all I do, big or small. That's why I got so frustrated the last couple of years when I couldn't quite make it Haha. Sorry if this post is extremely late. (Chances are you already heard of this from some magazine by now) but I did say that I was going to cut down on my social media use, didn't I?

And I'm happy to hear you're interested in Ruvian culture, so I'll try my best to explain it: The Summer Celebration is a religious holiday practiced by members of the Caellian Faith, which is the majority religious faith here in Ru. There are four major Caellian holidays that roughly match up with the four seasons, but the Summer Celebration is probably the most important. It is the day we celebrate the life our creator has given us, and we celebrate Him, by attempting to create His Paradise on earth, if only for one night.

The Summer Celebration takes place over two days. On the 5th, we typically have to spend all day preparing for the festivities, which don't start until the sun sets. When this happens we begin the Celebration, which is basically a giant outdoor party that lasts until the sun rises again the next day. Most Ruvians celebrate in thier own backyards with friends and family, though many cities and towns hold huge communal celebrations in a public space. Basically it involves staying outside all night, dressing very lightly and often traditionally. There is much feasting of traditional Ruvian foods and barbecue, dancing, loud music, often quite alot of drinking, and *especially* fireworks! We also wear flower necklaces and toss the flower petals all over the place. Religious households may have a statue of Cael involved in the revelry, cause we know he'd love to be invited! The celebration is at it's peak when the sun rises. It's our reminder that no matter how bad things might seem to get, the Light will always win in the end, one way or the other.

For little kids like me, it can be hard to stay awake literally an entire night. Alot of us make bold claims that we will stay up, since that's what the cool older kids manage to do. And we all want to be like them, don't we? The 6th day is the day of rest, it's set aside specifically to allow people to recover from what they have done to themselves the night before. It mostly just involves alot of sleeping.

We, too, have a God of the Sun, Malakbel, who's worship diminished over the centuries, and we call the Sun, or rather standing in the Sun, being under the Lioness' Loving Gaze. The Lioness, in this case, is Han-'Ilat, the Mother-Goddess, often being depicted with the Desert Lioness that awoke Her.
There are a lot of festivals for Her as well, one of which is the Celebration of the Summer Sun, on the 21st of June next year. It's very different from the festivities for Cael, as you described them, as Her festivities are times of silent devotion and meager meals (except for the sick and pregnant women), all members of a Household eating together. It's also a day of prayers and sacrafices... and, for schoolchildren, for learning, as the Testing Period begins on the next school day. ; )
